Good pub atmosphere and good pub food.

Nice room and friendly staff. Food not so...grilled cheese lunch special...not sure how you make a grilled cheese without much cheese plus on sad bread was disappointing. But hey, its a pub.

A traditional pub on Queen Street. It has screens to watch sporting events, in the afternoon the classic neighborhood drunks usually arrive, a calm atmosphere, delicious ale and ipa beer, at a reasonable price, the staffs attention is quite good, and the food is not so good.

Our go-to date night spot. We like the wings and the burger.

Definitely the best Irish pub Ive been to. Great atmosphere. Really good pub food. Favs are the club sandwich and the wings. Its definitely a great place to chill when you just want to chill.

Absolutely amazing pub. The food, service and atmosphere is top notch - especially their Guinness, which is probably the best is Toronto! As someone coming from Belfast, the Roy is a welcome memory of Northern Ireland.

This used to be my favourite pub. Unfortunately, last night was different. Old food was all over the carpet. Flies were everywhere and the food was overcooked and just unflavored. The staff is always friendly but we were amazed by how filthy the place looked. Kid-friendliness: The staff is always friendly and accommodating.

UPDATE: Went back for lunch because the food is amazing. Had a great lunch, and the service was 5 stars today. I can not remember her name, but the female bartender/server (I think possibly day manager) was friendly, chatty, and made sure my glass was always full :) Went for lunch today, Food was really good!! Service was not great. Would have had another beer but the guy took too long to come back, sat with an empty glass and plate for an unreasonable amount of time. He was on his phone alot, which isnt a good look! Food 5/5 atmosphere 4/5 service 1/5

Popped in for a drink and bite to eat, was surprised by how busy it was but I had a great time! Food was excellent, the atmosphere pleasant, and service was swift and enthusiastic. Will definitely swing by again!

Always amazing quality food! Consistency is the hardest to achieve in this business and The Roy always hits the mark. Dont miss the Cobb Salad and their Roast Beef Au Jus sandwich is the best Ive had in the city! Service is always attentive and friendly. See you soon guys!

Cosy pub with good beer selection. Friendly staff. Unfortunately no vegan options so I only had a couple of drinks. Was told the veggie curry could not be made without dairy and the veggie burger would have to be without the bun which just sounded sad. Will be back for a drink and hopefully they get some options!

Bartender recommended a beef dip dish that was simple yet outstanding pub fare. Guinness was poured true. Fire and flower across the street too, thats a great cannabis store if you get a chance to visit.

I went there on Monday, January 2nd. The place is cozy and the service was really good. The food was not bad. I take chicken curry and my husband fish and chips.

Excellent place... Simply beautiful

Came here for Wings specifically to try out wing night on a Wednesday after looking at reviews. I was disappointed. Price was $13.50 for a lb of wing after a $5 discount, side of fries $4 and a pint of Guiness $9.50. Although atmosphere was great. Guiness was fine, fries were good but super small portions, I would say their wings are not the greatest and could use some work. I ordered the honey garlic. The wings were not battered and did not have a crispy texture to them, they were soggy, I wouldnt order them again.

Amazing local pub and one of the few that isnt overly family (crazy kidz), annoyingly young (teenage clubsters), or franchised. Great comfy traditional atmosphere and friendly staff. Huge bonus for the area. My one critique - the food could use a refresh. Portions are OK, but things taste a bit meh. Frozen from package, over salty, poor value, etc. Nothing crazy.. but this one aspect needs an overhaul to make it a truly 5star experience.

Repeat visit terrrrrible service. Sure, the guys who greet are great, but switched to the female server who constantly ignored us! Unexplainable. Deliberately ignored our hand waving, shouting, nothing would bring her, not even the other guy servers. Made for miserable time - never to go again! Not worth the aggravation. So many alternatives so close by! Dont do it to yourself! Steak pot pie was great! Servers were great, smart, funny, friendly. So were the other customers. Worth repeat business!

First time dining at the Roy public house. Took a friend out for an early birthday dinner. We ordered the breaded cauliflower appetizer. The breaded cauliflower was amazing! The batter was crispy, and the cauliflower was also cooked perfectly. My main dish was honey garlic wings. I must say this is by far the best honey garlic wings I have ever tasted in the city. Excellent service by the staff. Also, the owner made sure we were well taken care of. Btw. When we arrived, they greeted us with hi folks, instead of you guys. So fleshing and politically correct! Thank you for such a great evening.

The Roy has been an absolute institution for over a decade. Their wings kick butt!!! Their burger makes you feel good. Their shots are huge, Im talking 1.75oz. They have an epic French Dip sando. Nothing is incorrect with the Roy. Just go and enjoy yourself. Vegetarian options: Its pub style, but you will find veg options no issue. Dietary restrictions: They will always handle dietary restrictions with as much grace as possible. Just be cool you know? Parking: Just dont really drive. Take the Queen Streetcar and get off at Logan, simple. Kid-friendliness: Bring your well mannered kids. Dont bring your mistakes. Its an adult pub. I said it not them. Just bring nice people no matter the age. If you know, deep down inside, that your kid sucks, dont bring em, easy. Swing in and enjoy yourself, without bringing losers. That goes for adults and children. Wheelchair accessibility: I dont think its very wheelchair accessible, unfortunately. I spent 13 weeks in a wheelchair and honestly, this wouldnt really be the place for me.

Service staff is mediocre. The food is hyper-low quality off-the-shelf frozen garbage where the majority of menu options are deep fried. Buy some McCain frozen food and open a bar. No idea how this place is surviving. If there was an option for negative stars for food...I would give it. At least the beer was cheap. Our group is never returning.

Service was so kind.

Website says Monday and Wednesday wing nights $5 off each pound. I guess between 5-5:30 thats not considered night. Ordered two pounds and did not receive the $5 off of each pound. Waitress refused discount. Wings were dry and definitely should not have rated best in the city on their menu. Service was uneventful. I will be spending my money on other better locals that care about their customers and dont false advertise.

This cosy irish pub is a neighbourhood mainstay. Come for the beer selection, stay for the sticky toffee pudding. Their wings are nice and big, fried to perfection, and they give you a healthy portion in the fish and chips. Hope to come back regularly for years to come!

Weve lived right across the street from this place for two years and are very sorry that we are only discovering it now. Understated vibe of maturity and attentive service in a well kept establishment. We ordered the wings and sticky toffee pudding. We werent blown away but it hit just the spot. The experience made it more than worthwhile. Will be back very soon!

Got a takeout sandwich today & it was sooooo great The beef was great cooked with amazing taste. The salad which came along with the sandwich was also perfect specially the sauce. The other good aspect for me was the price!it was really worth it & unlike surroundings it really worth it. I also really liked the vibes of the place. I should try to dine in next time. Let me start by saying I have come to the Roy so many many many times (I was going weekly) and absolutely love their toffee pudding cake (so good!) however, after my experience today, I will not be returning, not that they seem to care if they lose a loyal customer. After calling a few days ago and speaking to the general manager, whom was very very nice and super accommodating and she also confirmed that they do offer gluten free options, we arrived at 3:45pm and was greeted by a nice gentleman who said no problem to seating 10 of us in their empty dining room inside. The man with glasses that was working behind the bar overheard and just said no out loud to the gentleman who was going to seat us and then just turned his back on all of us. We were all very confused and stood there unsure of what was happening. Finally after standing there confused for a minute with out group, I asked the man behind the bar if we were going to be seated or should we sit ourselves and he replied. No, we just cant accommodate you. I replied, is it because you have reservations and he replied. No, we just cant accommodate you. I replied but your whole dining room is empty. No reply was given to that comment...he just turned away from us. We left and were very very confused and it obviously left a very very bad experience to all the people I was with that had never tried the Roy out before... I LOVE supporting local and I LOVE supporting small business so I thought it would be awesome to show the Roy some more love. Unfortunately, I guess they dont need the business. No problem at all! We went down the street and ended up spending $$$ at the amazing Leslie Jones which I highly recommend and will continue to support. SO happy to support a small business with amazing food that actually treats their customers with respect.

We went here for the wing special and it was great! The service was fast and friendly. It was busy but we were able to eat with our two young kids and get home in time for bedtime. The server brought smaller cups for the kids and extra plates for sharing food. Will happily return with family.

Nice chill English themed pub. Bartender there was friendly and helpful. Only had drinks, no food, but the drinks we did have were good. It was definitely very quiet when we went in there. Not sure if its like that at all times, but it is a real low-key vibe.

I always look forward to my visits to The Roy! I like the staff, the laid-back interior, and the good food. One beer here always turns into two as I feel the stress of the City trickling outta me. The music here is great as its the old classics and I really like that! The front window where I usually sit is good for casual people-watching. This pub reminds me of the pubs back on the East Coast with its welcoming atmosphere. Yes, I will be visiting this gem real soon!

The pot pie was delicious! Left feeling very full and pleased, staff as friendly and was a great environment.

Autumn is the best. Went by for beers at lunch and some fries. She pours a great pint and told me all about her renos. I recommended a great house painter. The harps were cold and delicious. Will be back for the brown sauce.

Shared a pint with a friend there last night. Even though it was late the host (who was also serving us) was really nice and polite and swift with his service. Will come again for sure.

Visited this establishment with a few friends on a chilly Saturday evening. Great drinks, amazing food & appetizers, with a warm friendly atmosphere all come together to create a great experience. All of wich will undoubtably bring me and my friends back once again.

Not a bad spot. Kept passing it, but finally had a chance to go in. I got the wings, but i fell in love the mozzarella sticks.

I really like this pub too but for different reasons, their wings are great atmosphere also really great, mind you I also have nostalgic feelings about here. Very much the neighborhood pub that makes you feel like youre from the neighborhood even when youre not.

Walked in and immediately was greeted with a smile. Went a couple times now and both times we were served pretty fast and honestly, such a chill atmosphere and friendly staff! I honestly loved the food. Got the chicken pot pie both times I visited and boy is it filling! Comes with delicious peas and carrots and choice of side (I always go with the fries, even though I can never finish them because of how full I am) haha but yes. Highly recommend this place for lunch or even a visit for dinner.

Don t waist your time, lots of other options in the area

Speakeasy is a good term for it. The staff are petty, surly little indiscreet gossips. Food is mediocre. The wing are sub par for a pub, perhaps thats why they need to have 2 half price wing nights a week to get rid of the. Not recommended.

Wings were ok but dry, curry gravy was good, sticky toffee pudding was basically a bran muffin with light sauce. Service was slow for additional drinks but they were busy.

Lunch on their street patio. Food was delicious and server was attentive. But street patio was set next to streetcar and active lane. Can be noisy and dusty when cars/trucks are passing. Will return for indoor dinning.

Patio are still open along queen street. The selection of beer on tap was good and the Tuna Tartare was a great match for AA cold beer during the summer months.

Missing a star on the beer menu (not enough wacky craft beer), but food and service was both absolutely five star. Great vibe. Highly recommend.

I was just told that I would not be served because I chose not to tip a server that did not provide a decent service upon my previous visit. Yall must be a bunch of desperate beggars cause this just a horrible experience . Never have I ever been penalized for not tipping a server 1 time. Id rate 0 stars if possible, to anyone reading this AVOID THIS PLACE. To anyone that works there reading this, tips are earned, THEY ARE NOT A REQUIRMENT.
