Hip wine bar serving pastas, salads, and other Italian-inspired things in a 70s setting.
Giving 4 stars bc service was subpar. Food was amazing. Would come back and sit by the bar to avoid table service and solely enjoy the food. We arrived a couple mins late to our reso and apologised, acknowledged our tardiness and sped up our dining but there was 0 effort in our service. Server didnt ask if there was a special occasion, which, there was (it was my birthday), no questions about dietary restrictions nor allergies (which again, there was 1 vegetarian diner at our table) and 0 effort in walking us through menu/providing recommendations/providing insights on flavour profiles when we were trying to decide between 2 wines. Server also did not do quality check and didnt clear our sharing plates after our starters so the table felt cluttered during the mains. Luckily, we did love all the dishes we ordered and had no problems. I would come back but only because of the food. Im not sure if maybe subpar service is tolerated here bc vendetta already has an established reputation or what but service was not very hospitable. The starters were the main stars of the show, mains were not outstandingly impressive but i loved them still. The new potatoes and the cheesy garlic bread were out of this world. Thanks for the tasty food!
Everything we Tried at Bar Vendetta Upon entering, you're welcomed by a cozy retro vibe, with white and orange tiled flooring, vintage posters, and warm wood tones. Settle in at their sweet 15-seat bar, indoors, or on their charming patio open in the summer. Handmade breads and pastas take center stage. Don't miss the rosemary focaccia and cheesy pull-apart garlic bread, but the real standout for me was their signature cacio e pepe-inspired pasta- a coil of ricotta-stuffed perfection. They also offer an Italian-inspired wine list that invites you to explore a variety of flavors, perfectly complementing the dining experience. 🎥@melissa_foodie.fun
What a gem! Cozy spot on Dundas West offering fresh pasta and small Italian plates. The beef tartare, bruschetta, and focaccia were the notable small plates. The smoked ricotta on the bruschetta pair with the sweet tomatoes is so lovely. The focaccia comes with 6 pieces which means you get to enjoy with olive oil before your pasta and then you get to use some to soup up the remaining sauce in your dish! The puttanesca is for olive, capers, and anchovy lovers. The pomodoro is a classic must try. And the crown cacio e Pepe is just plain fun. Our waiter was so sweet, I wish I caught his name. The space is intimate and perfect for a date night. I went with 3 other girls to catch up on life and it really was the perfect setting. Our waiter didn’t rush us at all and refilled our drinks so promptly. I’ll definitely be back.
Had a lovely dinner here. Charcuterie is all meat and pickles, but it's worth the price! The beef tartare was fresh and lively flavors, the foccacia cracker providing the perfect crunch contrast. Had a local cider, which was tart and pallet cleansing. Staff was lovely and attentive. I enjoyed watching the kitchen staff prepare my food. Ambiance is lovely in there as well.
I came here for the first time on my bday with two friends and we loved everything we ordered: steak tartare, octopus, lobster pasta, focaccia bread. Portions are on the smaller end, but each dish is delectable! Service was great and the food came promptly. My friends and I probably spent 2.5hrs+ catching up and the wait staff never rushed us for the bill, which I genuinely appreciate.
Went out for date night with my girlfriend here for the first time ! Really enjoyed my experience 👊🏻 Our server was great as well as Rowan who made sure our drinks and food was to our liking. We order appetizers and 2 main course pastas and we will be returning again. Get the house lager but beware they go down quick 🍺🍝
Great little casual spot for delicious Italian fare. The selection of cocktails also pair well with the dishes. Happy to have stopped by on a whim, early enough to walk in before the dinner rush, and will definitely be going back sometime in the future! You can’t go wrong with this one 👌🏼
Love that they have specials- the pasta was delicious and fresh. Great place for a date or a catch up with a friend. The back patio is really cute and covered so can sit out there if it’s raining. Cocktails were really good and the wine list is approachable.
Stumbled into this place searching for some late night pasta. The pasta was impeccable
Is it Italian? Is it Tapas? Is it heaven? Who gives a shit. Get there, be prepared to sit at the bar, order a bottle of wine, crudo, some stracciatella potatoes, and finish with two pastas for you and your arm candy. You ll leave full and 24% more in love. Skip dessert and jump right into that 2nd bottle of wine like we did if you want to have some real fun. Enjoy!
Everything we hoped for and more.
Food was absolutely delicious, and the staff were so attentive. I really loved the vibe, it get small but elegant.
It is a small, cozy bar. If you live nearby, it will be a good choice for a quiet night. And the food was average.
Food was okay, beef tartare was a bit too salty for my liking and the pistachio potato dish needed something more than what came with it. Drinks were okay too but I m assuming millennials go here for the vibe more than anything which is a solid 10/10
Honestly, this is what hospitality is all about. No fluff. No BS. Thoughtful and intentional service with enjoying your absolutely delicious, well seasoned meal in mind. Funky decor. Incredible. Get the beans!!!!!!!
We wanted a very special place for a milestone anniversary. I combed over countless restaurant options in the city and decided to check out Bar Vendetta. The patio is pretty awesome! The shudders were wild open and we enjoyed a perfect September night outside. You can tell that a lot of care goes into the food and our mouths were drooling seeing all of the dishes come out around us. Unfortunately I expected a little bit more. The cheese garlic bread was tiny, but it was tasty with a hint of sweetness. The ravioli filling was a little undercooked for my liking, it seemed like the egg hadn t yet solidified to hold it together. The duck pasta was a miss on my part. I realized I do not like chewing down on the generous amounts of shredded duck that are in the dish. I also found it overly salty, and I like salty. The service was lacking. The server was friendly and the lady answered all of our questions, but a number of times we were left with empty glasses of water and wine, which is absolutely unacceptable when you are spending $80$+ a head with a 18% tip starting on the machine. I d like to try some of the other dishes, but I don t think the value is there for me.
Delicious food and a nice date night experience. We sat at the bar and service was great. Food was well executed and had some slightly different flavours than standard Italian, which was great.
I could eat here every night. My comfort spot
Great little cozy spot across from bellwoods. We got great service at the bar last night. The tartare was exactly what I wanted in a tartare- fresh ingredients, chopped texture, well seasoned, egg yolk rich goodness and thin crostini The Campanelle was delicious as well as the burata (didn t love the grapes but who am I). Best vodka martini I ve had in a long time too
We loved everything about our experience at Bar Vendetta, from the friendly and very helpful service, to the drink selection and delicious food obviously made with much care. It was a last minute plan and we arrived without a reservation on a Saturday night, but we were quickly seated at the bar. Our server tended bar and was very busy but took time to focus on us and provide personal service. We started with bruschetta and enjoyed a martini and lovely wine on tap. Our entrees were simply amazing and we savored every bite of the Cacio e pepe crown and the rigatoni. We dont typically order dessert, but were tempted by the house-made corn gelato and the lemon tart. No regrets, as both were incredible. Thank you for a wonderful evening! Bar Vendetta, well be back the next time were in Toronto.
Nice atmosphere, great music taste, cute decor. Shared an appetizer, had a main pasta and it was the perfect amount not too little or too much.
Atmosphere is super cute but food and service was subpar - it took us over an hour to get our dishes, and the flavors of the dishes were mediocre (we got the cacio e pepe, the tuna crudos, the duck pasta, and the bruschetta) - the bruschetta was also literally rock hard so it was a nightmare to eat respectfully lol. Same with cocktails (tiger fizz was what I got and it just tasted like watered down ginger ale tbh ) - wouldnt really recommend this place when there are tons of great restaurants in the city
Amazing food and service! Will definitely be coming back when visiting Toronto again.
Garlic bread, cocktail and wine were great! But for pasta, Ive had better ones in other Italian restaurants
Low quality pasta, ok on everything else. Slow and hardly present service.
Great!
Absolutely incredible dining experience. Only wish I lived in Toronto again so I could be a regular. 10/10 recommend.
Everything is delicious and the setting is beautiful. We got the puttanesca pasta and the ravioli and the ricotta bruschetta all so good, I got a spritz that was delicious.
Great food, service and cocktails!
Great drinks, great appetizers and great pastas. Definitely enjoyed this spot. Server was attentive and the backyard patio is comfy.
Such a beautiful space, amazing food and even better service! Cannot recc enough- I am going to dream about the pasta until I return Food : 5/5
Service was AMAZING, drinks were delicious and interesting, scallop crudo was fantastic. Puttanesca however needs to be reworked or taken off the menu. The deconstructed approach isn t working; whole cherry tomato and olive halves result in a disjointed, watery and way too salty dish. I know a lot of chefs smoke cigs and it ruins their palate in terms of salt. Maybe run new dishes past the servers first. All in all a lovely experience and worth trying for sure.
A fun spot with a great patio! The outdoor seating felt like an adult treehouse with lots of wood paneling. Perfect for a romantic date night in the summer! We had focaccia, burrata and raspberry sorbet, and they were all delicious! The burrata was perfectly complimented with some salty pistachios. Excited to go back and try the cocktails!
Great late night dinner on the back patio. Staff addressed patrons at a nearby table for having inappropriate conversation, which I was impressed by. Vegetarian options: Good options for vegetarians. Personally enjoyed the pastas and sides.
Great food, drinks, service
Went here with high expectations, found the food average. Good atmosphere and service, though. They have a cap on how long you can sit there - it was 2 hours for 4 people, and we were reminded to vacate 10 minutes before 2 hours were up. Had the Crown Cacio E Pepe, pull apart garlic bread, lobster pasta and bruschetta. Also had wine and beer. Very expensive for what we got.
This place was phenomenal. The scallop crudo is to die for. Also tried the burrata which was delicious. Highly recommend the pasta dishes - the rigatoni was super unique and tasty.
Standard Jen Agg restaurant which means consistently good food, great cocktail list, and warm and friendly service. Menu has a good balance of classic and creative. Warm atmosphere.
Sat at the bar, great suggestions, food, service, music, ambience
Food was splendid. Service was splendid. Atmosphere was splendid. Splendid company. Overall splendid.
I had high hopes for this restaurant as it was on the Michelin Guide. The food was underwhelming and disappointing. Some of the items were unique but not executed well. The pasta dishes were mediocre at best and pretty bland. The restaurant has good service and a very nice atmosphere but that was the best thing about it.
Delicious food, good music, amicable staff. The cacio e peppe crown was a highlight. Can t wait to try more things on the menu!
Not great for my taste, but pretty good (for Toronto). I ll admit an old and have been around so it takes a little more to impress me. The buratta was good but not spectacular (and be careful not to have pistachio shells on the plate as there was in mine). The tartar was quite good, but I d prefer it with no yolk on top. Yolks are part of the tartar sauce and are folded into the meat. But many chefs like to serve it Parisian style with a yolk on top. Big issue we had w Vendetta? Poor dessert menu and NO COFFEE available at this restaurant place. A $400 bill for 4 people - so not an inexpensive bar - and they don t have space for a good espresso machine? Even a good Nespresso machine would be better than no coffee!
I loved eating dinner here. I went on a Saturday night (without a reservation) and was a solo diner at the bar, which was a really nice experience. All the staff were so friendly, they said I could get half sized portions if I wanted to try a bunch of things (which I did). The food was quick to come out of the kitchen and was so so delicious. I tried the tuna crudo and the burrata salad with some focaccia. If I had more time I would have tried some pasta dishes and dessert. The atmosphere is very cool and relaxed but is a 10/10 experience. I would go again any time!
So glad we found this restaurant while we were in town. The food and service were absolutely incredible. Atmosphere was laid back yet vibrant. Would recommend to anyone.
Honestly everything was top! Delicious food, great service and reasonable price!
Went there as a walk-in after Fourth Man in the Fire ran out of dough. A perfect place for a date or a catch-up. Small but well executed menu, as it should be. Cozy lighting and adorable patio in the back. Music was a bit loud, but that s just a preference. Will definetly go back!
I usually dont leave reviews, but I felt compelled to share my recent experience at this restaurant. After work, my friends and I decided to try this place. We had a single cocktail each before arriving and were looking forward to a nice meal. We sat down and ordered our food and appetizers, planning to each get one drink. However, before our food was served, the server informed us that they would not serve us drinks because the manager believed we were intoxicated. This assumption felt incredibly disrespectful. We had just come from work, and none of us were acting inappropriately. We were polite and excited to try the food, which apparently was misinterpreted. Based on this experience, we will not be returning, and we will be letting our friends and acquaintances know about this incident. It was a disappointing and shocking encounter.
I dont usually leave bad reviews, especially for a restaurant I admire and one thats featured in the Michelin guide. I was excited to try the food, but never in my wildest dreams did I expect such poor behavior. I have enormous respect for Jen Agg, but the staff and management of this restaurant were incredibly disappointing.
Ridiculously delicious.
One of my favourite restaurants in Toronto! The burrata and Cacio e Pepe is my fav! Highly recommend
Tremendously approachable owner.
Really good food. Great for date night and great value
Great spot for friends meeting up / date night
I don t care to dine out for Italian food. I care for Bar Vendetta and all the amazing staff who make magic at this restaurant. This was one of the best meals I ve had eating out, and made me fall back in love with Toronto. Amazing meal. Don t skip the pomodoro, or trecce with lamb pancetta, or the lemon torta.
Amazing pasta! Loved the cacio e pepe especially that it had a hint of zestiness.
Snagged the last few seats at the bar. Server behind the bar was a delight. Food was delicious. Good sized portions that are prefect for sharing. Vibrant, bustling spot that captures an intimate vibe.
The food was really delicious and was brought to us in what felt like a purposeful and thoughtful order. We really appreciated the service and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. Standout food for us was the Garlic Cheese Bread and the Short Rib Ragu!
Reasonably priced. Very good, fresh Italian. Cool vibe. Good service.
Amazing as always.
Meatballs were an amazing dish!
Literally excellent food. Roux Roux was very kind, attentive and gave great recommendations. I will be back.
Fantastic, will come back to Toronto just for another meal
We were referred here by a patient of mine and we were not disappointed. Flavourful menu (loved the beef tartare and the handcrafted amaro old Fashioned). Pricing was reasonable at about $200 a couple. We shared a bottle of Italian Cabernet between two couples as well. Oddly, they serve no coffee there but that was not a meal breaker. Only small thing...the place is noisy and that makes intimate dining unlikely during a busy night. Overall a great place but quite the hike for us who live north of the city...still worth the trek.
The food was good - the branzino crudo was one of the best fish dishes Ive ever eaten! Inside, its a little too dark and quite a bit too loud. Turn down the music.
Great food and fairly priced. It s a small neighborhood gem. Our favourites were the bitter green salad, cheesy garlic bread and their pastas!!! We will be back :)
Impeccable. Food was well executed, cocktails were some of the best Ive ever had in the city. Service was excellent.
One of the most delicious meals Ive had in a long time. The small plate potatoes were my favourite. The only reason atmosphere is only 4/5 is cause it was a little cramped for my legs.
I cant wait to return when the patio reopens out-back. It was a happy casual atmosphere, perfect place to be catching up with a friend, fab service and the Crown Cacio - sooooo delicious:)
Cute little spot with great pasta.
Really sad to update my review from my most recent visit: I enjoyed the atmosphere but the food was not the best. Our server did not specify the cheeses on the cheese board when asked, and was not super helpful. I came in for my birthday and they gave me a solo lit candle with our bill - which I felt was a bit awkward and underwhelming. We paid $150 for just the 2 of us and got 2 apps + 2 mains + 1 drink. Not the worst bill in Toronto, but I expected a bit more ooomph for the price. If you are wondering what not to get: the crudo was not very tasty, the lobster tagliatelle was very subpar for $31 and the pesto pasta was quite bland. Maybe we just got unlucky ordering the wrong dishes and caught the server on a busy night. I remember the dishes and service being much better last summer when I last visited. Not to mention the prices were significantly higher. First time I came here I remember spending $30-$40pp to now $75 pp.
Went here for our anniversary/Valentines. Overall, decent experience as the atmosphere and service were great and made it an enjoyable time. I would say the food was the disappointing factor though. Started off with the cheesy garlic bread and meatball which were the best part of the meal especially the garlic bread. Really like the slight sweetness they put into it, it reminded me of the bread I usually get at Asian bakeries where they fuse savoury and sweetness in their pastries. Meatball was also good with lots of cheese which I liked. However for our mains we got the cacio e pepe and the broccolini pesto dish and they were very underwhelming. The cacio was alright, had a decent cheesy taste but loads of citrus which kind of threw me off but was still alright. The broccolini pasta though was very underwhelming. It tasted watered down, and I couldn t even pinpoint what they were going for with the sauce and all the toppings. Looked like there was a lot going on but tasted very bland. I noticed the table beside us also let the server know one of their dishes were quite bland and watered down. Don t know which dish they were talking about but maybe it was a bad day as it is very busy for most restaurants the week of Valentine s Day. Thus, my review may be a bit harsh but that was my personal experience there.
Nice cute place- great food- not a huge menu which is nice! Pasta, cheesy bread and meatballs! Excellent. Easy place to meet and have dinner, date night or with friends. Food : 5/5
Amazing food and good atmosphere for young people
Cute restaurant, great wait staff, tasty dishes. Portion sizes are a little bit small (ended up still hungry after an appetizer and main course). Unfortunately Bar Vendetta is one of those places that encourages an 18% tip when paying - tipflation is the reason why they don t get 5 stars.
Had a great time here! Pasta was delicious. Every dish was well balanced. I would say this is definitely new age Italian as opposed to traditional. We will definitely come back to try their new menu. Got the pomodoro, cacio e pepe, crudo, bitter green salad, and cheesy bread.
Awesome spot for a fun dinner! Really great cocktails and appetizers (rosemary focaccia and meatballs were incredible). We tried all the pastas and thought they were great (the lobster one was a highlight). Plus, would recommend sitting at the bar to see the team work in the open kitchen!
Went here to check out the hype mostly for the crown cacio e pepe. Was left a bit disappointed however the rest of the meal was very well received. Can t recommend the focaccia, burrata and meatballs enough! Service was excellent and restaurant was very cozy and romantic. Would certainly return.
The best cheesy garlic bread I ever had! Incredible service, really nice ambiance, and loved the drinks and the highly highly recommended tagliatelle with jalapeño, lobster and fried leek! What a creative pasta! Great for those who like a lot of flavour and don t like simple/bland pastas!
I was surprised to learn this restaurant is on the Michelin guide because its quite average. Ive had better pasta dishes from my GoodFood boxes. It felt like the patrons and music were competing to see who could be the loudest. Meh. Food : 3/5
We had the Meatballs with tomato sauce and basil pesto (10/10), Trecce with pork hock, potato, banana pepper (20/10), and the Crown Cacio e Pepe with ricotta, lemon, butter, black pepper (10/10). All spectacular but the trecce was incredible!!! Such a lovely night out, fun vibe, smells so good the minute you walk in.
Another top notch experience! Fantastic! Keep up the exemplary work.
Delicious!
Cozy interior with delicious small plates and pasta! This is one of the best meals Ive had in a while. Everything we had was 10/10. The burrata with cipollini agrodolce was my favourite!
Bar Vendetta has quickly become one of my favorite spots in the city. Great vibes all around, beautiful Italian cuisine paired with a great wine and cocktail selection. Top that off with excellent, super friendly (and non-pretentious) service and you have the perfect recipe for a great night out with a small group of friend or a date with that someone special! PS - My iPhone pic doesn t do this dish justice. Try it out for yourself!
The food is very tasty. Must try their lemon torte.
Wow, good food. Everything we ate was just a bit unique, or just a bit better than similar fare. Cheesy garlic bread was a real treat, stuffed with ricotta and with an unusual hint of sweetness. Lemon torte in a class of its own. Too loud when we arrived but they turned it down. Loved the music.
You cant hear the person sitting in front of you because of the loud music. Terrible acoustics. They are also sending you a message before your booking and politely tell you it s a dinner booking and if you want just drinks you can go to the bar in front of the street.
Favourite place in Toronto - amazing cocktails, great food (get the garlic bread), and great value.
Doesnt get much better, phenomenal place to eat, drink, go for a date or with friends. Bring your appetite
I had the absolute pleasure of eating here last week. Our server, Nicole was an absolute professional. Every single dish was mind blowing and I could have easily stayed there for the entire night. The vibe was that amazing!
Garlic bread was amazingggg
Great environment and food
It s ok. Nothing special. Service is good. Really baffled me why this place is on the Michelin Guide list. Very basic. And the music is too loud.
Reliably great food!
Really inexpressive.... great food with friendly staff and ambiance.
I m obsessed with their meatballs and kale salad! Pastas looked cute, but weren t anything to write home about. Drinks were okay. Loved the patio and incredible service. Make sure you make resos!!
The menu is very simple, a few pasta dishes to choose from and plenty of appetizers. The portions are on the small side so if youre someone who can really eat you will probably need a couple appetizers plus a main dish
My friend and I walked in on a Friday night and they were able to accommodate us with a 10 minute wait. We were seated by the window and it was a little warm and stuffy probably because the AC was pretty far away from our seats. The cheesy garlic bread was amazing and almost addictive. There was a hint of honey to balance out with the cheesiness. We also ordered the trecce with ramps. The trecce was well made and al-dente but the ramps tasted really grassy and the flavor didn t go well with the egg yolk. The pasta is overall pretty bland and the portion is relatively small. $23 for this dish feels a little overpriced. We also ordered drinks as we finished the food and as we were enjoying our drink that weren t even a quarter done, our server has already taken away our napkins and brought over the bill despite none of us have asked for it. We certainly felt being rushed to leave especially this has only been 45 minutes in since we sat down. Given this is called a bar and not a fast-food chain, the experience was rather disappointing.
Atmosphere, service, and wine were all lovely. The food unfortunately fell a little flat for us. Seeing so many reviews speaking highly of the food, I was very excited to try! The garlic bread was very sweet, the bruschetta has smoked ricotta which I found took away from the dish, and our pastas were just alright.
Do your tastebuds a favour and order the Cheesey Pull Apart Garlic Bread! We ordered the cheesey garlic bread, the meatballs, Crown cacio e pepe and Trecce dishes. The cheesey bread definitely stole the show! Perfectly stretchy cheese and fluffy bread and the right amount of salt and garlic. I definitely wanted to order another one! Love the atmosphere here and can t wait to check out the patio next time. Music was a 10/10 for me. A perfect blend of all my favourite karaoke songs. Came for the pasta, will come again for the bread and atmosphere.
Super cute place, very small but very cozy vibes inside, loved the decor too. We didn t get much food but we did enjoy the focaccia and bruschetta with smoked ricotta. The wine was great and food was delicious. I am still on my quest of finding real focaccia in Toronto because while this bread was delicious, it was not focaccia. The only other issue we had is how closely the tables are to each other - hard to not overhear the conversations going on around you, very squished. Can t wait to try out their mains next time!
Honestly amazing restaurant. Service was lovely, food delicious, I would go back for sure. Great place to go full out and enjoy a bunch of things to share on the menu (which is what we did) but you could also go and keep it simple with a glass of wine and a few apps.
Great cocktails, service and food! Perfect place to meet with friends or have a date night
SUPERB.
One of the most underwhelming meals I ve paid for in years. Nothing necessarily wrong with the food, but completely unreasonable at the price point. $26 for a cheese board with 3 small wedges of cheese? Don t waste your time or money. Also found the server unfriendly.
Delicious meatballs and bread. Tasty cocktails. Surprisingly good rapini. Be sure to make a reservation in advance. Enjoy!
This place was just OK. Average prices, average cuisine, average menu, average drinks. Maybe it s because I live in NYC (where it seems there are just as many Italian restaurants as there are Starbucks) but I felt like I could have found better Italian going to a random spot in NYC than going out of my way to come here.
One of my favourite restaurants in the city. Love the small shareable plates. The servers always give great food and wine recommendations and the vibes are cozy and relaxed.
Really great service! The small plates were amazing, would definitely recommend getting a few to share between your party as an entree. Pasta mains were also very good, with really great flavours. Great selection of wines and knowledge about the menu.
We booked Bar Vendetta after seeing great reviews online. Atmosphere was great walking in, loved the decor. The patio is well covered for anyone to enjoy without taking the summer heat. We should have booked the patio if we had known that wonderful space exist, but inside will settle this time. We had some great starters to enjoy. The meatballs were amazing with hint of basil at every bite. Cheese breads were actually both sweet and savoury, very good. Scallop were great and the kids loved the salmon. It was Lasagna night, so we gave that a try but nothing major to write home about. The asparagus pasta was actually the best of the 3 for my taste. Kids like the other options more
Good spot for pasta with front patio, indoor or back patio seating. Especially enjoyed the asparagus trecce with egg yolk main meal and the meatballs appetizer.
Amazing service, atmosphere, and decor. Started with the rosemary focaccia and the olives, which were amazing! The cacio e pepe and the tagliatelle were okay, but the other options looked a lot better.
Amazing food and drinks. A little pricey, however the the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. The bars music and decor was awesome too. Will def come back.
This is a great spot to catch up with a small group of friends or for a date! I really appreciated that they held our table despite us being late on a busy Friday night the food was delicious and so were the drinks. Reasonably priced as well.
Great food, super friendly staff, and a good home vibe with delicious cocktails! Real thought went into the menu!
Our server basically told us we had ten minutes to get dessert before the next reservation comes. We ordered fast, they spaced out our appetizers way too far and we were basically told to leave. On top of that we paid 20$ for half a tomato in olive oil and butter. So yeah we left with no dessert and a bad experience. Sucks cause I like the food. The price for the tomato salad is ridiculous for how small it was. And it s just tomatoes. The server with long brown hair and wearing a skirt and heeled boots working on the patio today. She does not want to be there. Sad I liked it there my first time :(
The decor is super cute - we sat inside but the back patio looked adorable! Food was flavourful and the portions were decent. Standouts were the cheesy garlic bread, cacio e pepe crown and the lemon torta. They even gave us a little complimentary cocktail after dinner to celebrate our anniversary! Definitely recommend this place!
Friendly service, great food and lovely intimate atmosphere. Would recommend all the dishes we ordered: carpaccio, cheesy garlic bread and crown cacio e pepe pasta! 10/10
Great food, fantastic service. My server made sure I was hydrated the whole evening. My water was always full, big ups. The food was delicious, the barata insane. The only negative I have is that if you are expecting a classic cacio e pepe then you will be disappointed, it tastes good but doesnt scratch that itch. Highly recommended!
Underwhelming. I guess all relative to NY where I m from, and places like Chicago and LA. I guess here this is top notch. Meatballs had good flavor but were really hard a meatball 101 no-no. Rigatoni cooked nicely al dente, nice flavor with the creative very non-Italian merguez sausage, but not memorable and portion a bit small. Why creative on the pasta, but the meatballs classic blend with red sauce? A bit disjointed theme. And the wine pours, if those were even 3 oz I d be surprised more like wine shots. Honestly, I won t be scrambling to get back there.
The patio and interior have an interesting vibe that could be good for a date. Nevertheless, I believe the food is a bit overpriced for the quality. Some notes: 1) The filled crown is actually quite pretty. 2) The asparagus trecce are very similar to what I would have cooked during my time at university as a quick meal so I was a bit disappointed - I am Italian if that matters! 3) Nothing to say about the meatballs, they were perfect! I would go somewhere else if looking for real Italian food with the best quality. Drinks are very good and well done too.
We were seated on the back patio which was very cute. It is a covered patio which is convenient for rainy days but when we went it was probably one of the hottest days in the city. Our server had great cocktail suggestions to cool down, we tried Glitter ball and Honey trap. Highly recommend Glitter ball-it was soo tasty and refreshing! We shared some plates and our stand outs were the burrata, scallop crudo and saffron butter tagliatelle.
What a great place! Michelin guide won t recommend a bad one the atmosphere is very nice, the food is outstanding!
I regret not coming here sooner. Ive clearly missed out on a lot of fantastic pasta. If you want an unpretentious, casual Italian meal in a very chill spot near bellwoods, this is the place to go. Sit at the bar and watch them make everything, and be sure to get a cocktail, and the cacio e pepe crown. Bonus points for having miller high life.
Booked a Friday night reservation and was escorted to the cute back patio. The cocktail list had a lot of variety & the two I tried were each delicious (Vendetta wet martini and American) The portions are small though for what you pay for, some dishes like the burrata were interesting with the sesame crisps but nothing special. We went not super hungry but ended up ordering 6 dishes and it was satisfying but not overfilling. Pro tip: their stuffed pastas on their instagram are only on Thursday.
Had birthday dinner here tonight after seeing recommendations online. A+++ for atmosphere. Food was great overall. Meatballs and cheesy bread starters were fantastic. Bitter greens salad, so so. Cacio e pepe and the tagliatelle were stand outs. Do not skip the gelato! Lastly, a main highlight was our server Rowan who was just so darling Would definitely come back and very much recommend.
Food was lovely and super rich and filling. Recommend the cacio e Pepe and focaccia! Only wish it was a little brighter inside, struggled to read the menu in the dim lighting lol
Finally, I found a place I love to eat when I visit Toronto! Go there, the food and the service are spectacular And the wine too!
Incredible food every dish we tried was a hit, and we tried quite a few. Will definitely return.
Food was delicious! Lemon pie is amazing.
perfect vibes & terrific menu
I m obsessed with this place! Cozy, stylish, friendly staff, fair priced and excellent food! I ve been looking for a place that resembles my favourite Montreal restaurant (Maison publique)! This place totally checks all the boxes!
The cheesy garlic bread was good but the tomato salad was drowning in butter and the rigatoni was extremely salty.
Was really excited to try Bar Vendetta with friends but was a little disappointed. The restaurant itself was a nice atmosphere but food was just okay.
Amazing cocktails, delicious food. Stellar service.
My cocktail was mediocre. Some of the food items we ordered were good. However, our server made us feel rushed and generally unwelcome. Our server handed us our bill at the exact same time as the debit machine so we couldn t even look at it. When I emailed them about this, they apologized but were defensive and claimed their service style was laid back . There are many great restaurants in the city, no need to go back to this one I m afraid.
Everything about this place is lovely. A must visit in Toronto.
Cool place for apps and drinks, service was great, totally forgettable pasta. The cacio e pepe might be the worst execution Ive eaten. Flavour was good, but my God... why was it served in a strip of uncooked lasagna thats been pinched into a giant tortellini? Wet, soggy mess of sauce. The rigatoni tasted like the smell of the St Lawrence fish market. In a word, embarrassing.
Had a fantastic dinner on a Friday night; we thoroughly enjoyed the small plates. Next time, well only order the small plates and skip the pastas entirely. Looks like the menu has changed but we ordered: burrata (ours at the time had peaches, syrup, and pesto), meatballs, cheesy garlic bread, crown cacio e pepe, and lemon torta. Highlight was definitely the small plates, especially the burrata. If you order the meatballs I highly recommend pairing it with the garlic bread. The lemon torta is probably one of my favourite restaurant desserts. The restaurant itself is cutely packed into a narrow orientation with additional seating in the back patio. I found it to be a little too dimly lit for my preferences. Service was good but felt like it took awhile to initially see someone.
Super yummy
I would give it zero if allowed. Rushed service, food was cold, dishes were dirty, and too noisy to speak to my dinner companion.
The food was really good. Highly recommend cheesy garlic bread if you like cheese! The meat ball and the pasta were delicious. I would expect some more citrus in the crudo scallops. The food was excellent overall. Ill go back for sure!
Great place, very good food. Recommend sharing 3-4 apps and then each get a main course for a group of 4 if you re hungry.
Very popular restaurant in Little Italy. It gets busy around 7pm so reserve ahead if you can. The food is pretty good, I d recommend their cheesy garlic bread and pasta, especially if it s stuffed pasta. I didn t like the crudo that much, it was like a deconstructed salmon bagel was lacking creativity.
Every time I go here it s amazing!! Food is incredible and consistently changing (always new dishes to try), service is knowledgeable and friendly, and I love the space. Overall 10/10
My absolute favorite place to eat in Toronto. Always amazing, friendly service and the best food. Yummmmmm.
Great little downtown spot hitting all the right notes: great dishes, awesome 90s music, on point, friendly service and cool vibe.
Delicious everything, quaint dimly lit atmosphere, unpretentious and honest service from a great staff. Ive been there a couple of times and both times were amazing.
Came here to celebrate my birthday on a Sunday night for dinner. We were seated on the back covered patio which had a nice ambiance, however a bit tight for my preference. Make sure to make a reservation if coming here over the weekend, as we made a last minute reservation for 9 PM and it was still packed when we came. I got the Glitterball cocktail to drink, which was refreshing but I do wish it was a bit sweeter. We got the beef carpaccio and burrata with a side of focaccia to start. The standout was definitely the focaccia, I would ve been happy eating this alone. Forgot to take photos but for our mains we got the crown cacio e pepe and rigatoni. The quality of the pasta itself was really good, but we found the rigatoni a bit salty and the cacio e pepe just needed a bit more lemon.
Some of the best Italian Ive ever had. Id say Id be back but living 8 hours away makes that kind of hard lol
I ve been coming here for a while and usually love the food, but last night was extremely disappointing. Having had the crown numerous times, I thought I d switch it up and try the spaghetti pomodoro. It was one of the blandest things I ve ever eaten. The kind of meal that makes you wish you stayed home and made it yourself. The noodles were over cooked and the sauce tasted like tomato water. The most exciting thing on the plate was the basil. When a dish is this simple and something that most people can make themselves, I think you have to elevate it some how. It s too bad because I really like the place itself and the staff is great. Unfortunately that dish simply sucked.
Nice environment with delicious pasta. Easy recommendation!
Great service. Good wine and cocktail menu. Food portions were larger than expected. Cool spot, worth checking out.
The music was probably the best part?? Pasta was good but small portions and felt overpriced, but glad to have tried it out. Loved the drinks!
Food and all, generally speaking very goood However, they didn t allow us to bring in our birthday cake unfortunate Food : 5/5
I wouldnt say it was a bad experience, but it wasnt great. Too dark and not comfortable sitting arrangement. The food was good, especially garlic bread. Overall, food portions were way too small for the price. Its not worth the price you pay, to be precise. We all left with an empty stomach after paying almost $400.
Great food and atmosphere, although it gets loud due to the size of the place. Be aware if you wear hearing aids. Great wine list. Service was friendly.
Great food, excellent service and the vibes in the restaurant were incredible. We got the garlic bread, sausage rigatoni and the Trecce, all of which were amazing. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a cozy Italian spot!
Outstanding
Meatballs and cheesey bread were incredible
A rare gem in the Toronto food scene. This spot checks every mark, it promises amazing food in a viby place that makes you feel like you went out for an experience and not just to eat. The menu is relatively short and focused on a few main dishes and man are they excellent. The pastas are flavourful but also light. I would recommend getting all of them and sharing with your table. Their selection of appetisers is wide and has all the classics. Their focaccia though is pure magic. The spot also has a nice cozy vibe, perfect for a date or having a proper night out with friends. The lighting, the music, the decor all work together to make it feel like more than just a restaurant.
Reasonably priced yummy food with a nice atmosphere, definitely worth trying if you enjoy pasta.
Awesome food - right space but good vibe.
