Bosk, nestled within the elegant Shangri-La Hotel, offers a serene and sophisticated ambiance. The interior design is both beautiful and calming. For a quieter dining experience, opt for a table towards the back of the restaurant. However, if you're looking to enjoy a cocktail and some live piano music, a table closer to the bar is the way to go. While the setting is undeniably impressive, the culinary experience falls short of expectations, especially considering the price point. Despite the meticulous attention to detail, such as the orchid centerpiece on each table, a small oversight like a dead orchid on our table was disappointing. It's a minor detail, but it reflects a lack of care that undermines the overall experience. We opted for the carbonara with cured duck yolk and guanciale for lunch, a dish that sounded promising. While the flavors were good, it didn't quite live up to the hype. For the price, we believe there are other restaurants in Toronto that offer better value and more memorable dishes. That being said, the sourdough bread was excellent, and the chili oil was a standout. It was a flavor bomb that elevated the entire meal. The portion size of the carbonara was appropriate, avoiding any post-lunch food coma. While Bosk offers a lovely atmosphere, the food doesn't justify the price tag. The setting is undoubtedly beautiful, but the culinary experience falls short of expectations.

Nice restaurant but food quality is not a five star experience in comparison to what is available in the city. While scallops were well prepared the they were a bit heavy on the salt. Risotto was good. Desert was the highlight I would call exceptional.

Summerlicious lunch was good but not great overall. Service was poor, in general. Don’t expect your water to be refilled up any time soon or dining etiquette to be followed for a multi-course meal (i.e. before you can finish the appetizer your main comes out, etc). It was poor taste. However, atmosphere was good. For the 3 course lunch we had: Appetizers: Pesche e Burrata was good with the peaches and burrata. Although the burrata had a thick outer layer texture taste. Insalata Verde was okay with the artichokes and crispy baby romain lettuce. Nothing special here. Main: Meluzzo was amazing! The cod was cooked perfectly with the tasty grilled heirloom tomatoes and smoked potatoes. Vitello was good but not great. It was veal loin that was good but it lacked depth and umami. Pretty much reminded me of a tonkatsu that tried to dress up fancy but failed to hit the mark. Dessert: Summer Peach Pavlova was delicious, would recommend if you love peaches and meringue. Limoncello Tiramisu was a miss. It was not a great take on tiramisu and misleading. It was more a pistachio tiramisu with a hint of limoncello. Would pass on this.

We came here for a Wednesday dinner. We started at the bar which had their happy hour specials going. The servers were nice. The atmosphere was laid back and had a musician playing the piano. We ate from the summerlicious menu for our dinner. Every item that came out was great. Highlights were probably the beef short rib and limoncello tiramisu. We will definitely be coming back.

The bread was better than any I tried in Toronto bakeries. The soup and salad were too sour, the fish was good, and the beef, although not overcooked, was tough to chew. The lemon tiramisu was delicious.

We stayed at the hotel and had a dinner and breakfast at the Bosk. We love the design and seating. The food was excellent too. The menu was similar to what you’d expect from similar restaurants but almost every dish has some special twist. The dishes we orders are full of flavors and they are not overly done. The breakfast was great too with a combination of Asian and healthy plates. This is definitely a place to try if you are around the area.

Pre theatre 2 course meal was priced at $72, tax and tip extra. The Fogo island shrimp appetizer was a tasteless deep fried batter more than fish morsels. And the Seabass was a lacklustre, bare dish with a tablespoon of the only tasty bit fried.kale. Just to give a comparative the $68 Shrimps and Scallops at Black and Blue steak house on King Street is sumptuous delicious and substantial!! The Bosk dining area is dimly lit, poor design. Service was adequate.

We came here for lunch on a Thursday, and chose the set lunch (3 courses) from their express menu. The food wasnt that impressive to be honest, quite mediocre actually. However, the hazelnut rocher dessert was quite good! The complimentary bread was not good at all, very dry and stale. I had a mocktail, which was alright. You come here for the atmosphere, I think. The service was good, quite fitting for a luxury hotel.

I am not a big lover of hotel restaurants but Bosk was different. Yes its indulgent but its worth it. The Google rating doesnt do it justice. If you are looking for refined Italian food with minimalist charm and a deep rich flavor palette, I would recommend Bosk. AJ and Sultan Mohammed offered great service as well. Im still craving their creative desserts and the tortellini with scallops. Dishes are generally smaller portions but rich tasting and filling.

*Winterlicious Menu* FOOD: big disappointment Winter Citrus Salad: arugula is so so bitter, never I had such a bitter one, it ruined the flavor of whole dish. Tortellini in Brodo: Pasta is thick and hard, broth was bland and Im not sure it supposed to have that color. Venetian Duck Ragu: pasta was under cooked, ragu was bland, duck was terribly cooked and I could barely find any duck in it. Champagne Cheesecake: no cheesecake flavor or texture, look and taste like a mousse. Chocolate Intense: not so intense, the salted caramel took the spotlight of chocolate flavor, zero taste of earl grey. SERVICE: although food was horrible, the service is pretty good, up to the standard of an upscale restaurant. VIBE: elegant vibe, surrounded with windows but a little dark during day time as they keep curtain closed at all time.

We came for Winterlicious and our first time trying. The food are excellent. I would say the pork belly main course is the best dish of the 3 course menu. The pork belly is crunchy and the side dish on the plate goes quite well together! The cabbage side dish is tangy so it nicely balanced out the pork belly meat taste. I like this dish. Must try! The service was ok. We need to ask for refill of water and for the whole meal, water is refilled only once and we need to ask for it. When paying the bill, seems abit weird we are presented with the credit card machine first before giving us the bill first. And then the credit card payment receipts was thrown on the table instead of handing to us as normal business courtesy IMO.. So i give this visit a 4 star instead of 5 stars overall.

probably the worst meal experience ive had in 10 years and first time weve ever sent something back. wifes risotto was inedible... just mushy rice soaked in lemon juice with a single scallop (even the server agreed it was bad after tasting). salad had no dressing on it. no bread service, water went unfilled. porchetta was average at best.

I visited the restaurant three times this fall/winter, once in October, once in November and once in January, all for weekend brunch. Located on the ground floor of the Shangri-La Hotel, the restaurant serves elevated and filling food in a modern environment and a rather easy going vibe without the elevated price tag of a fine dining brunch/lunch establishment. The restaurant doesn t seem to be overly busy for brunch; during all three visits, I did not make reservations and was still seated right away. I ve tried their French toast, pancake and croque madame, and they were just splendid! They were not your ordinary French toast, pancake or croque madame; the extra ingredients and East Asia inspirations will really delight your taste bud if you enjoy sweet things. Plus, they were served on beautiful plates/bowls, which added to the dining experience. The French press coffee was excellent. And just as amazing as the food was the service. The staff members were courteous and attentive, and the level of professionalism and care they deliver is notches up other brunch restaurants. Additionally, the female waitresses are dressed in beautiful qipao dresses, adding a cultural flair. An outstanding brunch experience! (I also noticed that the menu changed slightly during my second visit, as the French toast was in a different style - only incentivizing my visiting again!)

Experience and food is on par with that youd expect from a luxury hotel in the heart of Toronto - good consistent food and service but nothing mind blowing. The dishes were well plated and average to good on the taste spectrum. Menu was small but had a good variety of selections between the dishes. Nothing hit out of the park in terms or flavour but nothing missed either.

Service - nobody knows what to do they have to go to someone else to find the answer for you. I was on the phone with them 3 times to get emailed their boxing day brunch menu (link on website not working and they dont respond to voicemas) and to try and make reservations! I got a call back and was told they dont take reservations during Christmas! When I arrived (EARLY to get a seat) the restaurant only had a few tables filled and they sat us is a really ugly space (see photo). I waited an hour to be seated in the main area, and at that time the rest of my party arrived. Brunch starts at 11:30 btw. The only saving grace was the food, our eggs benedicts were delicious and they included orange juice when we ordered prosecco to make mimosas.

I quite enjoy Bosk, especially before a show. There is a very nice pre-theatre special and usually some great music. This time there was a wonderful guitarist singing Sara Bareilles type music. She was terrific. We had some chick pea fries and a fluke salad. The halibut was tasty though slightly overcooked. The dessert was thoughtful and came with a birthday message as requested. The wine list is quite nice - priced on the high side - but given the atmosphere - acceptable. Service was excellent. Seating was comfortable and as mentioned, the music gives the restaurant a really special feel.

Overall Good Experience. The Food was okay compared to price but I would not visit there again for sure since the food felt a bit too overpriced for me. But we enjoyed everything there except the music. We ordered the Foie Gras Pate, Crispy Chicken Ballotine and Cape DOR Salmon along with a bottle of Wine. The Foie Gras was amazing. My friend said the Salmon was not up to his expectation. The Chicken for me was okay a bit dry if I may say so, nothing extraordinary. The Wine was great though it was from a local Winery I think.

I recently had a delightful dining experience at Bosk, located inside the prestigious Shangri-La hotel. I visited during the Summerlicious menu event and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. To begin, the beef carpaccio and corn soup were the perfect starters. The beef carpaccio was thinly sliced and tender, while the corn soup was creamy with a hint of sweetness. For the main course, we opted for the duck confit and pickerel. The duck confit had a crispy skin and succulent, flavorful meat that melted in my mouth. The pickerel was perfectly cooked, flaky, and seasoned to perfection. To top it off, the dessert selection was a true treat. Each dessert was carefully crafted and truly hit the spot. The portions throughout the meal were just right, leaving us satisfied and yet still wanting more. What truly stood out about Bosk was the overall atmosphere. It was quaint, quiet, and had an exclusive ambiance that made the evening feel extra special. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable which added to the experience. Highly recommend Bosk at the Shangri-La for an unforgettable dining experience.

I am delighted to share my heartfelt experience at Bosk, the exceptional restaurant where my daughter had her first unforgettable fancy 3-course dinner. As a parent of a child with severe food allergies, finding a restaurant that caters to her specific needs is always a challenge. However, Bosk exceeded our expectations in every way. Right from our initial contact, both through phone calls and emails, the team at Bosk were incredibly understanding and accommodating. They took the time to carefully note down the extensive list of allergies my daughter has, including wheat, gluten, egg, milk, peanut, tree nuts, sesame, ginger, flaxseed, and strawberry. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the staff had already prepared a printed copy of the instructions regarding my daughters allergies. They not only understood the importance of her safety but also went above and beyond to explain in detail which dishes were suitable for her. The dining experience began with the first course, an exquisite Heirloom tomato and watermelon salad. Not only was it visually stunning, but the flavors were also a perfect harmony of freshness and taste. The chefs meticulous attention to detail truly shone through. For the main course, my daughter savored the Lake Erin Pickerel. The fish was exceptionally fresh, boasting a mild flavor reminiscent of the ocean. Its tender texture, combined with the delightful crunch of the perfectly cooked skin, created a truly delightful dish. The accompanying tomato sauce added a touch of perfection to the entire ensemble. Now, when it came to dessert, the set menu options unfortunately didnt align with my daughters dietary restrictions. However, the chef demonstrated their genuine dedication to customer satisfaction. They graciously offered my daughter a choice between a refreshing raspberry sorbet or a fruit cup. This unexpected gesture not only delighted my daughter but also reinforced our trust in Bosk as a go-to dining destination for our family. Watching my daughter thoroughly enjoy her entire experience at Bosk was truly heartwarming. As parents, we often worry about our childrens safety and well-being, especially when it comes to dining out. With Bosk, we can finally relax and enjoy a meal together, knowing that our daughters needs are understood and respected. In a bustling city like downtown Toronto, its a relief to have a second trusted restaurant like Bosk that offers a safe haven for individuals with food allergies. We are immensely grateful to the entire team at Bosk for their exceptional service, culinary expertise, and sincere dedication to making dining experiences truly remarkable for everyone. We wholeheartedly recommend Bosk to families and individuals seeking a memorable and worry-free dining experience.

I wanted to like this restaurant but I was a bit disappointed. Service was beyond slow. We booked a reso and still waited 10 mins past our time to be seated. Once we were seated we realized the restaurant wasn t even full or that busy. Ordered drinks, took 45 mins for them to come out. Then dinner came out shortly after, which was a let down. I ordered the Cornish hen which was cooked to perfection but lacked any real flavour. The ambiance of the restaurant was dim and romantic, but service was slow. During a gloomy day out for lunch, the lighting inside is way too dark. The food was decent, nothing special, good deal for lunch prix fixe, but the service was all over the place. We stayed at Shangri La and even made a reservation here through the front desk. Yet they closed the restaurant early because very few people were in the restaurant. We got a call up to our room and were asked to rush downstairs if we still wanted to grab food. When we got to the restaurant we had to order quick because the kitchen was going to close. There was nothing on the menu that was vegetarian. The dish we ordered was recommended by the server and we asked to make sure that it is vegetarian. When the food came it smelled and tasted overly fishy. We had to send the food back to the kitchen since it was not Vegetarian. Overall bad experience.

Having stayed at Shangri La, we have had our daily breakfasts at Bosk; in addition on the day of our arrival we had our dinner there. Meaning, our review withstood the challenge of repeated experience, and the result was entirely positive. The à la carte breakfast options are numerous; in addition to your usual breakfast fare, Bosks serves such morning delicacies as Full English (two eggs any style, crispy potato, baked beans, mushrooms, grilled tomato, back bacon, pork sausage, choice of toast), Wellness (egg white frittata, avocado, sauteed spinach, green asparagus, zucchini, cherry tomato, feta cheese, choice of toast), Scallion Pancakes (two eggs any style, sesame hoisin), and Chinese Dim Sum (choice of pork with shrimp & scallop or crystal shrimp or mushroom/vegetarian; it requires about 15 minutes wait), among other excellent choices. A breakfast buffet offers great selection of freshly baked pastries, ham, salami, and the excellent local lox. Our 4-course dinner featured such delectable dishes as Northern Divine Caviar (carbonara, hand cut cappellini), Cumbraes 40 Day Dry Aged Ribeye (pain perdu, rapini, onions), and Smoked Quinoa & Cucumber (yogurt, candied tomato, fennel pollen), to name just a few. The dinner prices are quite good, $90 for 4-courses pp, with the portions of a decent size, not small plates usually featured in tasting menus. The other great gourmet choice would be the Chefs Signature Tasting Menu, priced ar $135 pp and available upon request between 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm. Chefs Signature Tasting Menu includes 8 small plates. Of course, à la carte choices are also available. As mentioned, the food was very good, top-notch. Even the usual mundane breakfast suspects, such as scrambled eggs or omelette were perfectly cooked and presented nicely. The service was very good, the dining area great, spacious and comfortable, without tons of tables squeezed too close to each other. With your back to the lobbys lounge, we would recommend you request a table on the left, by the floor-to-ceiling windows, which allows for watching the city life passing in front of you. Definitely recommended. We will certainly come again next time in Toronto.

This is one of the most decent restaurants in Toronto. Have been here for a few times in winter and summerlicious. They change their menu every year so better do research before you order. Suggest to do wine pairing as it won t be too much additional costs but you can have three different glasses of wine paired for three courses.

A bit overpriced for what you get. It is a beautiful restaurant in an upscale hotel. Food was average, service was excellent. Overall, not the best option for the price you pay. I have yet to try their outdoor patio which should be nice in the summer. I tried the brunch which wasnt great. Dinner was better. Expect to pay high prices. A good option if you are staying in the hotel.

I went there after dinner to have tea and dessert. The dessert was okay and the tea was really good. It was a coincidence that Jim Treliving from Dragons Den was sitting at the table right across us. Though we didnt disturb him. Ambience of the place is upscale and vibe is fantastic. Little overpriced but justified. The dining area is huge and spacious. Chairs are comfortable. Took a long time in getting the cheque and finally paying it.

We enjoyed an extraordinary meal, we chose the tasting menu which was a six course affair. Each course was more delicious than the next. The service (by Anthony) was superlative, and the presentation was perfect. Very expensive but well worth it!

Excellent friendly staff and service. Delicious eloquently prepared food. The lamb and halibut were particularly tasty, and goes very well with an added side of seasonal mushrooms. Their appetizers are also quite nice and comes in bite size portions, with very crisp flavours. They also have their own very pleasant flavour of butter served with bread while you wait. A patio with heated lamps and a live DJ makes the outdoor seating area a particularly warm and cozy atmosphere. The inside seating area is also very chic and classy. Its good for an upscale group outing, or dinner for two.

I came here for Summerlicious with my friend and everything was absolutely delicious. We ordered one of the cheaper bottles of wine, but it wasnt in stock so the manager came over apologizing profusely and offered us a more expensive bottle at the same price. I was very impressed and wasnt expecting that at all! Our meals were light, fresh and delicious. Everything was presented so beautifully and tasted ever better. The service was fantastic - friendly, attentive and well put together. I love the simple decor. It was bright and spacious; good for a couple of a big group. Its a tad on the pricier side, but well worth it. If you want to save a buck, try the summerlicious or winterlicious menus which are equally tasty as the regular menu.

My friend and I went to Bosk for brunch on Saturday. They let us know they were premiering their new brunch menu. While we hadn t had brunch there before, we had checked the menu ahead of time. I have to say we were very pleasantly surprised by the new menu they presented Saturday. In our opinion, it offers more variety than the menu we had seen online. It was difficult to choose what to eat as there were several interesting choices.

Came here for dinner one evening and honestly was just expecting a standard fine dining experience. The staff was very friendly and our server was attentive and personable. The food, while not particularly innovative, was nearly perfected. My velouté left me wanting to lick the bowl clean and the braised short rib was so rich, tender, and surprisingly complex for such a simple dish. While the ambiance is nothing particularly notable, it is elegant and straightforward with a beautiful view that really reminds you of the beauty of the financial district in the evening.

Service is top notch and friendly but the food was merely OK. Had the 4 course dinner and neither of our choice of dishes were outstanding considering the price point. The dishes consisted of a very odd combination of ingredients and the menu was incoherent. Scallops were borderline fishy tasting maybe because of the roe they used but that combination of textures was just off. Salad was plain and underwhelming. Snow crab was just odd tasting and the lobster was drenched in sauce and forgettable. The duck and aged steak mains were the best of the bunch but still nothing we haven t had before. I was expecting more given all the rave reviews but perhaps the other reviewers have only dined locally and never at Michelin star establishments. Again, ambience just isn t enough for me to try this place again.

Really enjoyed the cocktails we had by the bar before getting started with dinner, and the wine list is mind blowing. The potato and truffle starter was sooo good, and I absolutely loved the steak.

The food was pretty bad, which is unfortunate because The Shangrila is a nice hotel. Great big windows and live music at certain times. Ive been to high tea many times but more for the music and atmosphere. The pastries are beautiful but the finger sandwiches are mediocre and sometimes stale.

We showed up at 1:35am and was told last call already happened by the waitress. So, they aren t about that true 2am closing time, untrue. Don t bar hop and make this a final stop - go elsewhere. We came from the Ritz, should ve stayed there..... Revised at 1:50am, the bar said last call was never announced so flat out the waitress lied to us. She clearly didn t want to make any tips, or a job by the sounds of it

Been there many times for lunch and dinner as I have friends living at Shangri-la penthouse and also Shangri-la has one of the nicest lobby in Toronto for drinks+afternoon tea. Today went to Bosk for brunch with my partner after shopping at Saks. Recommend their lobster benny, beyond delicious. Im not a big eater and personally dont like regular benny for their portion. Bosks benny and also their other food like fish, pasta are indeed quality over quantity.

Let me start by saying the reservation and food staff were wonderful. The chicken, Ganochi and sundae lovely. My only issue is...besides being in a nice hotel, this restaurant doesnt have much going for it. Bland interior, loud music from the bar in the lobby and in the winter mediocre views. Im not sure how they can justify the cost ? overall a great place to try once.
