CKB is the first venture of Toronto based chef David Brace. It's namesake and the smells of her kitchen underpin his regularly rotating menu. Combined with his near twenty years of experience at the helm of Italian kitchens, the result is a modern culinary selection that is rich with complex flavours yet still familiar. Our vision is a refined dining experience without pretension, where friends, family and the beau monde all feel at home.
This restaurant is a Roncy must! Great local spot, warm inviting atmosphere, excellent cocktails and wine selection. The staff make you feel so welcome, and provide excellent knowledge of the menu, and service. The chef Dave really takes pride in his food, and every dish is delicious! He also changes the menu at the beginning of each month, so you’re always in for a delicious surprise when you visit!
Owner / Chef is an incredible dude. Extreme care goes into everything he does. Bar tenders are charismatic and top tier. Food and wine are all well curated. If you come here they will treat you like family. You won’t regret it!
Very good indeed. You can tell that the chef loves what he does as what comes out of the kitchen is spectacular. Nice informal setting for stunning food. Staff are very friendly. Cocktails and wines are delicious. If you live near Roncy and you have not been here before, you should be ashamed of yourself :) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Absolutely brutal. I went in here for a beer after a bad night. The staff only had 2 of the several beers listed on their menu and served me their IPA with total distain (small can, still $9). I asked for a menu, just to see their offering. I was told that they were “high end” with a crystal clear message between the lines. I can’t remember the last time I had someone look at me like I was complete garbage. If you’re “high end” then stock the beers on your menu. Fancy people drink beer too. When you’re paying for the lights to stay on and staff on the floor with zero people in your establishment then maybe don’t be so totally rude and disrespectful to someone who has owned a business on Roncy, been employed on Roncy, and lived in the neighbourhood for 15yrs. Welcome to the neighbourhood I guess. You’re already making such a great impression.
Awesome staff and food. I'll be back to try their ever-changing menu. Pastas and steak frites were stand-outs!
We had dinner at this restaurant. The waitress was super nice, super friendly, warm and easy to talk to. She deserves a 5 star. The food was good, but the portions were so small considering the price. Hardly enough for 1 person. The appetizers took a while to come and the main meal came super late. We waited around one hour between the appetizer and the main meal. honestly, the waiting time ruined the experience. I hope they work on that. I won't go back.
Came here for New Year’s Eve prix fixe dinner. Overall, it was a good experience. The staff are very friendly. The food was a bit inconsistent though. The lobster bisque tasted good, but was not visually appealing. The tagliatelle was lacking in taste, but the pasta noodle itself was good. The steak frites was the best I’ve had. The chocolate torte with cherries was missing the cherries, so the torte alone was bland. I think they ran out of cherries.
Menu changes monthly. Great cocktails and knowledgeable bartender. The atmosphere is intimate and friendly. Great for drinks with friends or a date. Definitely coming back.
The steak frites is honestly god tier!! The service is amazing and its suuuper cosey in there! I would 10/10 recommend any day of the week! Hands down its in the top three restaurants in Toronto at any price range
Excellent !!
Celebrated a birthday and anniversary at CKB last week and we really enjoyed everything about our dinner.
Great food. This place is a gem. Nice surprise. Thank you Dave and Nicole. Highly recommend.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal here - delicious salads and main courses. All the dishes we tried were superb - great service and lovely evening!!
Delicious food and friendly service. Its the best food on Roncy, for sure. Perfect for a special occasion or when you want a local restaurant thats a bit extra. Highly recommend!
Amazing food
Dave always puts out awesome food that is both unique and crazy tasty!...cant recommend enough... service is always top notch and friendly
Bison steak was a slapper!
Really outstanding restaurant. It is our new favourite restaurant and have been 3x in the last 4 months. We thoroughly enjoy the rotating menu. Staff is very knowledgeable and personable. I would highly recommend.
Food and service was excellent. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free friendly. Food : 5/5 |
Wonderful spot in the neighbourhood, I especially love the seats in the front window where you can watch people go by. We went to celebrate a big milestone recently, and our server (I believe his name was Nathan) really went out of his way to make us feel extra special! Highly recommend, and the spaghetti with snow crab was delicious.
Fantastic gem in the neighbourhood. Great service and an extremely well designed and creative menu. Really enjoyed our dinner here and will make this a regular dinner spot.
Weve been here probably ten times since they opened. Having a new menu every month is a huge appeal - its always imaginative and its always hard to choose between several appealing options. The staff is super friendly and accomodating. Its our favourite local place and everyone weve taken there has been wowed.
A perfect experience! Great, warm service. Wonderful menu, great cocktails, inviting ambiance. No notes! Was my first time coming in but will not be my last! Had the Hazelnut Risotto and it was lovely.
Where to start? Nice cozy little place that basically had a server/bartender and the chef working the night we went. We never felt neglected even though there was a lot of walk ins, our table of 4 was the only reservation and there were at least 12 other people there at same time. In fact we were never bothered by our server nor needed to look for him either. Food was excellent, as were the cocktails. I would recommend this place and I look forward to returning. Braised short rib was excellent but the menu changes each month so I guess I will have to try something new next time. Definite recommendation. I usually only review places I really enjoyed and this place definitely fits that list. Parking: Went on a Thursday evening and there was lots of paid parking places, including right in front of restaurant.
The food and cocktails here are always phenomenal.
Unbelievable .. The food is a 10/10, The service is a 10/10, The atmosphere is a 10/10 Hidden gem, tell your friends. Don t ever go on OpenTable haha.
This restaurant is amazing all around! Definitely recommend people check it out!
New restaurant in Roncesvalles. Really friendly staff (server and chef). At the end of the evening, the chef came out to say hello and ask for some feedback from our table. Wine list is incredibly reasonable (which is refreshing). Food was the best part and they change their menu on a monthly basis which is great! Vibes could be better, however, the team mentioned that they are working on improving this and is highly receptive to feedback. Would go back!
Had a great meal last night, pasta made fresh in house and a new menu monthly will be a great addition to the neighbourhood!
Wonderful dishes, showcasing the full flavour of the ingredients, and a creative menu. Nice staff and space. Definitely refreshing to have some new quality food options on the block.
Incredible food!! The chef is a magician. Menu changes every month! Staff are amazing! This place is a gem.
Loved it so much we have already been back twice and have our 4th dinner date reserved for next week!
Weve been here twice now and have loved it both times. The food is incredible, and Chef Dave brings so much care to each dish. Excited for the monthly rotating menus, as Marchs menu was spot on. Great cocktails, and loved the non-alcoholic cocktail options as well.
I ve been a couple times and really enjoyed my meals. It s a refreshing new option for the area.
A charming yet elegant fine dining restaurant in the heart of the beloved Roncescalles neighborhood. I had the pleasure of taking my wife for her birthday dinner here and it definitely delivered. The service was attentive and professional. The food was fantastic. Golden beet salad with goat cheese and tarragon pesto was delightful. The asparagus tart was creamy and fluffy and fabulous. The mushroom gnocchi was pillowy and savoury and definitely had that umami wow factor. The bread pudding for dessert was unnecessary but it was sweet and delicious and was a perfect end to a great dining experience. Full marks! We will definitely be going there again and we will be bringing friends. A lovely new restaurant in a great neighborhood. The menu changes on a monthly basis, and we are making a commitment to go there at least once a month to savour the delectable offerings of the head chef. Five stars!!!
we have lived in this neighbourhood for 25 years and this was the missing piece. A seriously good restaurant. Several have tried it and all failed. But CKB have nailed it. Food is delicious but not pretentious. Service is professional. menu changes monthly. It is our new date night spot.
Second time diners tonight. CKB is definitely not a one hit wonder. We sampled the April menu - ordered (for 2 people) the Carpaccio, Tagliatelle, White Bean Soup, Branzino. All delicious. Service is impeccable. Very solid addition to the neighbourhood. Looking forward to many more great meals. Vegetarian options: A lot of the menu was vegetarian accessible. Parking: On street parking
I never do reviews, but once in a while a place like this needs to be applauded. One of the best steak and frites I ve ever had.
Food is so fine. I love the ambiance, the flavors, the expertise, the peace of this wonderful new place on Roncy.
Awesome monthly seasonal menus, excellent cocktails, great low-key vibe. Chef is killing it.
Attentive staff and absolutely delicious meals that rotate on a monthly basis!
Great place for a date, date night, or a dinner with good friends.
This restaurant is an absolute gem! From the moment you walk in, the inviting atmosphere and friendly staff make you feel right at home. But its the food that truly steals the show. Each dish is expertly crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients that explode with flavor in every bite. Whether youre a meat lover or a vegetarian, theres something on the menu for everyone. I highly recommend this restaurant and cant wait to come back for more!
A very puzzling experience. On the surface theres a lot to like about this restaurant. Good service, interesting reasonably priced wine list. Interesting sounding, and nicely priced dishes. Atmosphere pleasant enough, with no jarring notes. The disappointing thing was the food. Good quality ingredients, but combined in uninteresting and strange ways. My shrimp appetizer was presented with a flavorless broth and some spring vegetables, and my pork chop main was overcooked but unbrowned. Vegetables were fine, if uninspired. My companions meals were similarly disappointing. The chef sounds like he should have the chops to get this right, and the restaurant is very new, so maybe he needs a bit of wiggle room to get his game on. I hope so, because it would be nice to have a restaurant of this type succeed on Roncy.
Went a couple of Fridays ago, cute and charming restaurant! But I must admit my main course of cavatelli with goat cheese and sundried tomatoes just was not tasty (quite watery actually). The appetizer of asparagus phyllo was okay. However, my friends fried maitake mushroom had an impressive presentation! When we went on a Friday night, our server advised it was only them two (as one called in sick) so we dont understand why they allowed a giant table in the back to have more friends join their already giant table (they ended up being a table of 15, which slammed the two servers).
This guy has skills
Great food and service. The non-alcoholic drinks are great, not overly sweet like many mocktails. Nice date night spot.
We had a wonderful dinner at CKB. The food was delicious (and seasonal so yummy) and the service was amazing. While it s not something our family of four could afford to do often, it was a special occasion and CKB simply added to that feeling. Highly recommend!
Went here with another couple and had a wonderful evening! Highly recommend this gem of a restaurant. Food was amazing! Service also excellent. Great addition to the Roncy neighbourhood! Exterior is understated..... so DONT miss it!
Love the service staff, very sweet, funny, helpful, and knowledgeable. Honestly just lovely. The food is hit and miss quality-wise and dishes took much too long to come out, but had a lot of heart. I think theyd benefit from more BOH staff or just better preparedness. Hoping that the couple of visits Ive had are just blips from a new restaurant trying to find its stride! Lots of potential, hoping that next time I visit they nail it!
Great Cornish Hen
The menu changes every month and reflects what is fresh and seasonal. The wine list is eclectic and great value. One of the top three restaurants on Roncy. Lets all support a great new neighbourhood restaurant!!
Wonderful experience! The food (charred broccoli, octopus, sword fish, pasta) were all fabulous- they make their own pasta daily it s fresh, cooked perfectly with that slight al dente finish. Service was excellent as well as the suggested wine pairings, a welcome addition to the roncy strip.
- 3 1/3 Stars: with a changing menu every month, it s hard to rate the restaurant as a whole. This is definitely a review of the Lemon Tagliatelle alone. Typical fancy originality and
This has become a regular destination for us. The menu changes monthly, is thoughtful and creative, and we ve yet to order anything we haven t loved. The chef/owner and his partner are equally as lovely.
Found a treasure! Superb cooking with an amazing family atmosphere. Owner/chef Dave refreshes the menu monthly. Definitely worth a visit!!
New favorite restaurant in Toronto. Food is INCREDIBLE - super fresh and seasonal - and the staff is so knowledgeable and welcoming.
One quick glance is what it all takes to get pulled into this land of magic potions. Just hand over the decision making to Nicole and Nathan, and they would charm you with their cocktails. If you are lucky, you might get a chance to name few of them as well. While you are still getting bowled over by those mixes, the food is going to elevate you to whole next level. Thank you so much Dave for sharing your magic with this world. There is no other option but to come back again. Looking forward to seeing you guys again!
Food is delicious. Mushroom salad, arugula, pea shoots, maybe back off a bit on salt, but very satisfying (blood pressure issues). Crepelle and ravioli were sublime. Service is impeccable. Owner chatted with us and is genuinely eager to succeed in neighborhood; knowledgeable guy about food This is a very welcome addition to the Roncy neighborhood, and we will be back often. Kind regards, Craig and Steve
First (and best) restaurant Ive been too in Canada thus far. Great place for a date night. The food was excellent, the service was incredible, and the crew running CKB were attentive and more than wonderful. I plan on returning to CKB whenever I am in Toronto. Thank you all for an amazing first night!
A fantastic dinner was had last Saturday in celebration of my birthday! The food and service was impeccable! Special kudos to the chef!!! The ambience was cozy and inviting! Absolutely love the wallpaper!!! We cant wait to go back again in the fall to try a new menu! Food
Delicious ricotta ravioli with corn cream and snow crab cake with carrot coleslaw. The chocolate sponge cake with amaretto cherries is also light and tasty. Service was good in a tranquil setting and they have menu changes on a monthly basis as well. Vegetarian options: Mushroom salad, roasted cauliflower & carrots, lemon risotto, spinach & ricotta crespell.
Very impressive menu and all the food was balanced, creative and flavourful. The artichoke and zucchini risotto, for example, was cooked perfectly. The service definitely could use a little polish and efficiency but I have faith this will improve as the team finds its feet. The server was friendly and personable and we even got a visit from the chef who was really kind and generous. Looking forward to coming back as the menu changes monthly! Kid-friendliness: Happy to seat us with a baby
Great food Great staff and service Fantastic and inventive chef New menu monthly Worth the trip to go there from anywhere in the city If any restaurant in Toronto deserves a few Michelin stars This is IT Congratulations on your success Thank you Steve
Vegetarian options: Had several tasty vegetarian options! Def coming back. Food
Beautiful spot, wonderful service and outstanding food. This is our new neighbourhood go-to. Above all the space and service are extremely welcoming, some how elevating the warmth of your local watering hole into a fine dining experience with elegant and delicious food to match. Everything was chef s kiss - we re looking forward to our next visit!
Visited for the first time last weekend and will definitely be going back. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very welcoming and knowledgeable about his drinks, he whipped me up his version of a espresso martini which was so damn good. Really nice guests in there too, it felt like one of those great places where you could end up talking to half the restaurant if you wanted to. The food was fantastic! We had the yellowfin tuna (the eggplant aioli was insanely good) and the tomatoes with tarragon pesto. Can t wait to go again, thanks team CKB
Limited menu, decent service, appetizers arrived promptly but main dishes took a long time to arrive at table, paper napkins a big thumbs down. I encourage the restaurant to work on their music playlist to suit demographic and the room. Food just ok. Tuna over-salted, lasagna under seasoned, duck breast ok, tomato salad was good. Wont return.
We went with 4 folks. The food was amazing We had the Cavatelli, the bolognese, the veal milanese, capelletti, and a killer kale salad. Cannot recommend highly enough. Get on this hidden gem before blogTO makes yall line up for it. Special thanks to the Chef, and our wicked server Scott!
Visited this restaurant for the first time and was blown away by the quality of the ingredients and the menu. Went in October, and apparently, they have a rotating menu. Will 100% be back to see what they come up with next month!
Had a very lovely dinner here. All of the food was amazing. The leek mussels were especially great. It tasted as if the broth had been simmered down for hours until it was extra rich and flavourful. The fries that came on the side were also great shoestring fries. We dumped them in the broth after eating all the mussels and it was to die for. This will be a new neighbourhood staple for us for sure.
I am so happy to have this restaurant in our neighbourhood! We have been going there once a month just to experience the chef s delicious takes on classic dishes. Highlights have been crab cakes, mussels, bolognese pasta, hot vanilla custard with raspberry compote, all in a warm and comfortable atmosphere. Ask server Nathan for his impeccable suggestions.
Very well curated ambiance, service was fantastic and food was amazing! Will definitely come back!
Arrived early for our reservation so we started at the bar. Cocktails were incredible; dangerously good, with complex flavour profiles and accompanied by a story from the mixologist (Im unilaterally awarding them the title). Dinner was excellent. The roasted beets were delicious, the feta light and fluffy. This is the third time weve had their risotto and every time it is amazing (the risotto changes every month). Wine selection was reasonably sized, with good pairing options available by the glass. Service was right in that sweet spot; friendly and attentive without interruption.
5/5 everything was so perfect! Food, service, and ambiance quality is top notch
