3363 Yonge St, Toronto, ON M4N 2M6, Canada
Moody, contemporary setting for traditional Italian cuisine, with an extensive wine list.
Been here quite a few times since the change in ownership quite a few years ago now. Some of the staff from before the change in ownership are still here, showing good continuity. Service is always good. Alex the owner dropped by the table to greet us, made some recommendations in the food and wine which turned out to be great.
Above and beyond, and beyond that. The food was extraordinary. Truly. The white truffle delight couldn't have been more....well...delightful. The service was top notch, TOP NOTCH, and the whole evening could not have been more perfect if they'd tried. Highly highly recommend spending an evening here. They have gluten FRIENDLY pasta, but it's cooked in the same water as the regular, so not good for Celiacs. Important to keep in mind. But honestly, get the risotto. It's *chef's kiss* If you're able to eat gluten, GET THE CARBONARA.
I travel to Toronto on a regular basis and am so thankful I found this gem. Our meal was amazing, service was on point, prices were surprisingly reasonable and Alex the owner ws so personable as he spent sometime talking about the history of the restaurant. I will definitely be back and recommend anyone looking for a delicious authentic Italian meal to check out Coppi.
Wonderful food, lovely atmosphere where you could easily have a conversation without having to yell over the noise. Lovely servers so kind and attentive. Brought tiramisu with a candle for my birthday without asking for this! Food was superb!
Summerliciois! We ordered Steaks and both were overcooked, but the staff took care of that immediately. Watermelon jello tasted very subtle. Tiramisu needs stronger taste of coffee. The interior of this restaurant looks good; but the noise from the subway train is very noticeable.
Lovely restaurant, clean and bright. Servers were sweet and kind. Food dishes were plated beautifully, lots of flavours and great portion. Lots of variety. We enjoyed our date night, would definitely come back.
A very unique Italian restaurant. The environment is very good and quiet. It is suitable for couples to go on a date. It has a more distinctive Italian flavor. The taste is quite satisfactory. The serving speed is generally slow. Overall, I recommend this restaurant.
Excellent service, delicious food. Love the convenience of Valet parking since it's so hard to find parking in that area. Prices are on the high side but the entire experience makes it worth it. I would definitely go back. Thank you for a delicious meal!
Best
I ordered take-out from Coppi and when I arrived to pick up my dinner, my total bill was $12 more than I was expecting. When I questioned the amount of my bill, I was told that an 18% service charge was added to it...the owner of the restaurant then asked me if I was okay with that or not? I told him that I wasnt okay with paying a mandatory gratuity of 18% on a take-out order when I didnt receive any service and that I have never been charged a gratuity anywhere before for a take-out order. He then very rudely told me to leave his restaurant and said that he doesnt want or need customers like me! It was a horrible experience and I was completely insulted!
A very nice place, with excellent food but like most things in Toronto very inflsted prices!
Portions are pretty small and the foods not amazing. Also mandatory 18% tip. Food : 3/5
First time visiting this neighborhood spot and we re so happy we did. Food was delicious and service just right. We ll be back!!
Food is good but if youre supposed to be proper Italian fine dining and charging $40 for a main course dish, at least spell Linguini properly. Its Linguine. Lol
Really nice vintage Italian experience in Uptown Toronto, and I really like the commitment to the bicycle theme Wheelchair accessibility: There is a step up, and the bathroom is downstairs, so not accessible
Great experience at Coppi tonight. Impressed with their Winterlicious dinner. Will return. Highly recommended.
Interesting layout inside, but the food is phenomenal. Service is a little slow, but this has become a favourite spot! You simply won t be disappointed with any of the seafood options. Would recommend.
Enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Coppi! A perfect night out with a warm and homey environment. Smooth martinis, delicious wine and food. Our server, and the owner, made it feel like we were spending the evening with family! 5 star all around! Food
What a lovely evening at Coppi I had the Winterlicious menu of smoked ham with bocconcini of mozzarella salad, followed by a surprisingly delicious angus steak. And a Gianduja hazelnut dessert. The service was polite, attentive, and friendly (spoke Italian to the waiter). And the caraffe wine was really nice. Enjoyed the Barbera. And finished the evening with a Negroni cocktail with some amazing vermouth from Torino
Came here for winterlicious and the steaks were great, however the gorgonzola gnocchi was lacking flavour. Staff were very professional and attentive. An automatic 18% tip is applied to every meal so their staff can have a livable wage. Would return.
First time giving bad review Over all the food was delicious and the atmosphere was wonderful. All other server and staff who helped us were super nice and friendly, but our main server was not giving a good vibe. it was our first time went to this restaurant, rushed to order/finish everything, asked to order dessert before the main food was not even on table. whats triggered me most was her attitude after we paid our bill, the cold eye, the attitude and no words was spoken after we paid. I would genuinely give 18-20% tips at fine dining but With 18% mandatory tips this should not be the service we got. Again everyone else who greet us in this restaurant were very friendly and helpful.
I love it
I ordered the Risotto di Mare and the rice was under cooked - not al dente, but the grittiness when it s not cooked enough. I was asked if I d like some bread and olive oil dip while I was waiting for my entree and said yes; they didn t tell me that it would be $6 and I ve been to so many restaurants where they d bring that out for free. They don t tell you upfront that they add an 18% service charge to the bill. It says at the bottom of your bill Coppi is no longer accepting gratuities In order to provide a Living Wage to all our staff, we are now adding a 18% Hospitality Charge to all cheques . So, they haven t raised salary levels to provide a Living Wage , you re still paying a tip but they ve decided how much you ll tip for you.
Delicious food, atmosphere, and great people! We felt bad because we stayed past closing time but they were still super accommodating.
Great atmosphere. Excellent food.
Fantastic service and meal. Very intimate dining experience. Lots of great suggestions from the team. I really enjoyed the quality and details of every dish.
Visited this place twice over the past 2 months! Loved my experience both times! Food and service is top notch! First time - I had the spaghetti tirreno (seafood was fresh! Pasta was cooked perfectly ) 2nd time - pesce al sale (one of the reasons why I came back, wanted to try this signature dish, a whole fish baked in salt, it did not disappoint! The fish was meaty and buttery smooth!!) Also tried their apps - Fritto misto, gnocchi fritti, baguette and burrata. They are top notch! Especially the Fritto misto! Its not over battered and so flavourful! This place is 10/10, a hidden gem in midtown Toronto! Highly recommend! Will definitely be back lots!
Amazing place. Very friendly and helpful host. Strongly recommend their fish made in oven in salt. Good wine selection. Little gem in the town!
Family dinner late on a Wednesday evening. Dark interior with simple decor, feels upscale, Mostly empty so atmosphere was lacking but still nice. Relatively standard Italian menu offerings, a bit heavier on the seafood options. Fried calamari was perfectly done, salads were tasty, and porcini risotto (that 4 of 6 ordered) was very yummy. Attentive staff, although kitchen was slow. Wine menu was solid. Moderately pricey, but a good place for a leisurely fine Italian meal.
We loved everything about our dinner. All our meals were incredible. The risotto beyond delicious and the molten lava cake was one of the best I ve had. Really wonderful experience. Will be back!
Headed back to Coppi for Winterlicious. Good options for all three courses. The baked halibut was a highlight for me. 7/8 Another visit. Excellent meal all-round and service was great. Happy to see the included service charge.
Where have you been all my life? Excellently executed in terms of food, quality and service. Will definitely be back. Grazie mille Alessandro et al! Enjoy the time away in august!!! Bravissimi!!!
Incredible food and excellent service. Alex is consistent in providing the top level of hospitality. The salt-baked fish is the best fish in Toronto. Highly recommend.
Excellent food! Loved my risotto!
Absolutely incredible, expensive, but they earned every penny. Reminds me of Spaccanapoli, I am in heaven. Lobster Ragu Limoncello Squid Ink Pasta Watermelon Mint Salad
First time. Food was really good except the seafood appetizer (battered and fried shrimp, calamari etc). Lacked flavour. Service was excellent.
Outstanding service Delicious food Food
Great place for Italian food very authentic. Visited on a Saturday night and the service was very slow, almost waited an hour and fifteen minutes for the main.
Amazing food and service Not happy that tip at 20% is added to bill automatically this should be up to customer depending on service and food quality
It s amazing! We love the Risotto, so delicious! As a serious lover of Italian food, this is definitely the first time I have seen risotto like this. When the cooked risotto is hot, toss it on top of the giant Parmesan cheese and put it on the plate. It tastes really amazing.
My compliments to the talented chef! Amazing food and wonderful ambiance!
Great service and food! The wait staff were very friendly and helped out a lot with drink and food selections.
Always delicious. The salt crusted fish, frito misto, gnudi, and risotto are some of our favourites. The specials are also always amazing.
Authentic Italian. Only drawback was 20%:gratuity added to bill for party of two without any advance warning.
Love the service , Ambiance and food. Best Italian food I have had this year!
Food was good. But they try to make it sound like they are being good guys by ending tipping. But they then add an automatic 20% gratuity to the bill. Thats not ending tipping. Thats adding a mandatory 20% gratuity. If you want to end tipping then increase the menu prices to reflect what the consumer will pay. Dont try for a slight of hand.
Went here for my partner s 40th surprise with 14 people. I reached out via google chat and Alex was responsive and very helpful. We had to select a smaller menu and pre order apps for the table, but again Alex worked with me directly and was very flexible with the menu options. We had the gnocchi, radicchio salad, fried sea food (fritto misto) and the burrata as the starters. Everything was fresh and unreal. Now let me tell you about the food. Me and four other people had the porchinni risotto. They put the risotto in a Parmesan wheel and served it out of that. It was the best risotto I have ever had and the other people agree. Other people had the octopus, seafood risotto, veal, and pasta and they all LOVED their food. The wine we ordered was reasonably priced at $25 a bottle and really great. We re all talking about going back again.
Great Italian food. Mushroom risotto is outstanding.
Had a lovely family dinner at Coppi last night. The service was excellent and the food was superb. We all had starters Caesar salad, pizza, radicchio salad. The mains were risotto, gnocchi, sausage and pasta. Everything was fresh, hot and extremely tasty. Thank you to the staff of Coppi for a lovely evening.
The best service and the best food. Make a reservation and arrive on time!
Celebrated our anniversary with great food (deep-fried gnocchi + fritto misto apps, mushroom risotto prepared in a parm wheel + grilled octopus mains) - too full for dessert. Consistently terrific food served by attentive staff in a lovely setting at Coppi.
Great food great place Its Italian cousin at its best #1.Its Amazing I give it 5 Star Rating.
Neighbourhood Gem We keep returning time and again for the incredible food and service. Recently did a white truffle themed take-out dinner that was superb. Wheelchair accessible.
Excellent service. The food was fantastic and the menu is reasonably priced. It was my first time and I would definitely return.
Always enjoy the food, the service and the ambiance! My go to restaurant when I m in Toronto.
Approaching almost three decades, Coppis mastery speaks for itself . My fullest compliments to all their staff (from valet, hostesses , servers), always polished and courteous. Creative, Fresh, Delicious Dishes. Top quality. Well executed.
Yummy food. You need to go. Service excellent.
Great place
Great food and service. I have been to two restaurants so far for Winterlicious and this is the only place where the food did not taste pre made for Winterlicious. This is always a favorite place of mine. The sea green cooked in salt is a must have!
The atmosphere was perfect from the moment we walked in. Excellent food and gracious service. Not stuffy but obviously carefully curated menu and decor.
Excellent food, staff went above and beyond, great for private parties
SERVICE 5/5 FRIENDLY & VERY ACCOMMODATING STAFF. PROFESSIONAL AND POLITE. EVERYONE IS SO JOYFUL HERE AND REALLY MADE THE EXPERIENCE HERE MEMORABLE. OVER ALL FOOD 5/5 WARM ASSORTED OLIVES: REALLY GOOD! NOT TOO OVERLY SALTY. THEIR BREAD IS TOASTED AND BRUSHED WITH OLIVE OIL. ITS WARM, CRISPY, AND HAS THAT GREAT CHEW, WITH A HINT OF ROSEMARY. RADICCHIO & PERA SALAD: REFRESHING, LIGHT SWEET VINAIGRETTE W/SOME ASIAGO CHEESE SHAVINGS, GRILLED PEAR, PECANS AND GREENS. *GNOCCHI FRITTI: OH MY GOODNESS! CRISPY BUT FLUFFY GNOCCHIS WITH SHAVED PARM AND A SLIGHT KICK OF CHILI! THESE FRIED POTATOE DUMPLINGS ARE A MUST TRY HERE! MY ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE GNOCCHI DISH EVER! PAPPARDELLE MARE E MONTE: LIGHTLY SAUCED, WITH SHRIMPS, CHERRY TOMATOES AND MUSHROOMS! GREAT FLAVOURS ALL AROUND. **RISOTTO CON PORCINI: IF YOU LOVE CHEESE & MUSHROOMS, THEN YOUVE GOT TO TRY THIS DISH! YOUR CLASSIC ITALIAN RISOTTO IN A CREAM SAUCE WITH LOTS OF MUSHROOMS, THEN FINISHED OFF IN BIG PARMIGIANO REGGIANO WHEEL! THEY MIX IT ALL IN FRONT OF YOU AND PLATE IT! SIDE OF ROASTED MARKET VEGGIES, AND POLENTA PARM: CREAMY POLENTA WITH PARMIGIANO CHEESE. I WASNT TOO FOND OF THE OVER ALL PRESENTATION BUT THINK OF IT AS GRITTY MASHED POATOES. FALVOURS WERE STILL GOOD THOUGH. THE VEGETABLES WERE NICE DONE. AN ASSORTMENT OF YAMS, BRUSSELSPROUTS AND CARROTS. WE WERE TOO FULL FOR DESSERTS BUT THE MENU DID LOOK ENTICING! DEFINITELY WOULD COME BACK HERE AND I DO RECOMMEND THIS LOVELY SPOT TO EVERYONE!
Coppi is one of top favourite restaurants.
One of the best Italian restaurants in the city! The food is outstanding and continues to be through COVID. I recently enjoyed the GRIGLIATA DI PESCE at home and I might have as well been served at the restaurant. The quality of the dish was exceptional. Congratulations Alex for keeping your standards high!
We ordered take out and it was absolutely fabulous....just so fresh and tasty!!!! I can have this every day!!!
Always great
Great Lunch! We each enjoyed a Caesar salad and the risotto for two that was made tableside in a great wheel of parmesan! Fantastic service and the food was outstanding!
Authentic quality food
Their signature dish, the pesce al sale ($43), takes a whole fish and bakes it encrusted in salt. Wheeled out still in the salty tomb, the fish is quickly filleted and dressed in a light lemon butter sauce. While the dish looks huge, after fileting the meat what s leftover is smaller than you d expect, but nonetheless sufficient as a main for one. The sea bass was remarkably moist and tender with such a clean taste that even someone who doesn t like fish could be converted. The risotto frutti di mare ($44) serves two, but with a few appetizers this could be stretched for three people (pictured below is a single portion). Dotted throughout the risotto were bits of clams, shrimp, squid, octopus and bay scallops all evenly disbursed so each bite had a couple of seafood items and helped to thoroughly scent the rice. Tuck in as soon as it arrives as it s a lovely consistency but a tad more cooked than normal; should be it left longer, it may become too soft. Coppi offers a variety of appetizers but truthfully the choices are rather safe and nothing seemed overly exciting. Their Caesar salad ($15) is heavy on the anchovy and light on garlic, making the flavours subtler and ideal for those who want a lighter tasting version of the salad. The burrate caprese ($19) is simple combination of quality ingredients: a decent portion of burrata mozzarella, grape tomatoes, and rich and bright olive oil that went especially well with the warm heavily salted baguette. Personally, I rather have an appetizer portion of pasta instead. The pappardelle in the mare d monte ($18) arrives as silky slightly chewy ribbons and the sauce a light combination of shrimp, mushrooms, and tomato. It s a great blend of sweet seafood, earthy fungi, and just a hint of something fresh. The spaghetti used in the chitarra tirreno ($26 for a main portion) is interestingly square-shaped and could be a tad more al dante. Regardless, the san Marzano tomato sauce mixed with all the seafood tastes wonderful and is that lighted umami-laced tomato sauce I love with seafood pasta.
Delicious food, impeccable service.
Excellent food. The cycling theme was portrayed masterfully. Alex the owner is very passionate and it shows in the food and service Of his staff. The sea bass baked in salt is a must.
Flawless!
True Italian food. Always delicious and fresh.
Excellent restaurant - excellent food - the owner really has passion and it translate in his dishes. Great job once again Michael.
Have been a Coppi customer for over a decade and have never been disappointed - everything fresh and cooked right, every time. Way better than the overcrowded Terro....
Great food, great service and ambiance, great price
Best Italian restaurant Ive been to. Probably the best restaurant Ive been to.
Truly one of the worst dining experiences we have ever encountered. Our family of six, my husband, myself, my parents and two children dined at this restaurant this past Saturday night. The owner was our waiter and server. Extraordinarily obnoxious and hyper from the beginning to the end. He made an issue about each person s order. When I asked to change the pear salad leaf to any other lettuce aside from radicchio, I was answered with we don t like to change items because it upsets the integrity of the kitchen and the flow of the restaurant for everyone dining . Four adults found their food mediocre at best. However the difficult owner/waiter entirely ruined the vibe and feeling of the evening with his pompous arrogant attitude and demanding nature. The worst part of the dinner occurred while ordering for my two children. The owner/server absolutely refused to add shrimp to the children s requests for pasta with butter and insisted upon charging them each separate pastas and separate grilled shrimp entrée. Let me be clear. Two small plates of spaghetti and butter were $21 each and six shrimp were an additional $32. He of course never stated what the price would be-only that he would be separating the shrimp from the pasta and insisted upon this- again, the integrity of the kitchen. When I did question him about the price he said about 25 each. Let me be clear, two children age 10 and 11 ate pasta and butter with a side of 3 shrimp each for a total price of $74 plus tax plus tip. The owner/server argued incessantly when we politely asked him to re-look at the price of the children s meals, reminding him that he refused to add the shrimp to their pastas and did not inform us of the charges that would be separate and exorbitant. Although he agreed that he did not properly inform us of the prices, he refused to adjust the bill. He let us know we don t have to dine here again and we let him know we would be placing a review. I also let him know that he was not demonstrating the integrity that he kept talking about in regards to his kitchen. We had dined there many times before and will never enter the doors of that restaurant again. I am writing this review for others to beware.
Last night I brought a good friend to Coppi for some authentic Italian cuisine. I hadnt been there in years and was pleased to see some familiar faces there to greet me. The decor is still warm and inviting, as are the waiting staff. Thank goodness the classic menu has not changed much over the years either. They focus on Italian tradition and quality, and named after Il Campionissimo Italian cyclist Fausto Coppi, The food is carefully prepared with quality ingredients, (not overdressed), just like we do in Italy. So if youre looking for Italian fusion cuisine (and there are a lot of restaurants in Toronto that cater to that), this is not the place for you. The risotto is still made on request as per tradition (no pre-cooking) and served in an authentic Parmigiano Reggiano wheel for maximum taste. Everything we ordered last night was beautifully served. With so many new restaurants popping up and claiming to be the best authentic Italian, it is so nice to see Coppi has stood the real test of time.
Excellent all around. Truffles and risotto were exceptionally good.
Copping delivered an exceptional experience, for both service and food.
Great food, great service, wonderful atmosphere!
Have been coming here for years. Food is very consistent. Staff very friendly. Hard to beat their spin on ghocchi, which they call gnudi, and their salt crusted spigola.
Always great food and service
One of my favourite restaurants Toronto. I took my parents there last night and had an amazing meal. The owner is very friendly and food is some of the best in Toronto. Always look forward to eating here.
True character and good food! Not only is the food and service top shelf, the atmosphere is just steeped in the tradition of Coppi and his legendary status. As a cyclist myself, this place feels made for me!
Great decoration! refined and modern decoration. The service is more than adequate, with few or no bilingual servers. The menu is little varied but very typical Italian. Its a little expensive but its still a very classy restaurant.
Great food and ambiance...pricey though
Excellent food and service. Authentic
I took my family there for winterlicious. The servers were attentive and service was great. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. I would recommend this restaurant.
The food is unbelievable. I highly recommend!
Excellent food, would definitely go back.
Good place to dine in,
great place. just be careful with valet, we did valet one night in October and our friends car had a flat tire when we got our care back. it was a nightmare to get caa to come
Truffle rissoto is amazing!
VERY AUTHENTIC place, exceptional service. Excellent selection of Wine from Italy.
The food is amazing. Chef chung is the man
Great food. Nice history with a famous cyclist from the Giro
The food was very clean and a solid 7-8 out of 10. We had in season truffle dishes as well as red pasta. While the food was good and the atmosphere nice, the service was very poor. The impression I get was that the Hoggs Hollow crowd is served better than anyone else. Waiting 15 minutes to order dessert? Watching every other table get their fish served to them by one server while two others stood by for the presentation. The floater, for the night was the best server because she saw our frustration and created a bill for us right away. Might have been our lame duck look at the table that she saw for 15 minutes. Coppi would be disappointed. If you cant serve then move aside. Much better options in the city right now. I want to like this place better but right now can only hope they improve.
Great friendly service and fantastic food!
Best seafood pasta! Will return again
Good service, however they speak to fast.
House special salted fish is the best but the personality of the staff is why I go back.
One of favourite Italian restaurants in the city! Great service and staff and wonderful food and wine.
Love the salmon
Best italiano food tested ever. In addition best thing is they provide valet service. It is very hard to find parking on yonge street. But thanks to the coppi valet service. And valet drivers are also very enthusiast about their work. Must visit and use valet service.
Great place. Homely environment and service.
Was here for Summerlicious 2017. Delicious food, great service, nice décor! Was a little disappointed that they changed Atlantic Grouper to Halibut on their Summerlicious menu.
Went here for summerlicious with a party of 8 people. Sweet decor, was not full in there... Food was mainly decent, but the lemon cake was disappointing, it was as if they forgot to add lemon at all! The bread served with olive oil and rosemary was great! The server kept pushing alcoholic drinks on us as well. After asking the table as a whole, he went around individually asking about drinks.
The companys Canadian president also swears by Italian cuisine. Risotto is delicious. The store has a good atmosphere, the staff is kind, and the service is good.
Bloody steak yall
Dinner is always amazing at Coppi. All the entrees are delicious, however, my personal favourite, is the black cod.
Went here for their Winterlicious menu last year, and it was excellent! I still remember my experience quite vividly too. The food was delicious and well portioned, and the wine and dessert were fantastic. The server we had was very attentive and was there before you even realized you needed something - definitely what exceptional service looks like. Beautiful decor, and great ambiance. Excellent date venue. A little on the pricey side, but well worth the experience. Cant wait to go back!
Theres a good reason why this place has been around for many years now and is always busy!
My wife and I went hear for our birthday dinners, and I can not say enough great things about this restaurant. The staff was friendly, courteous, and super helpful. The food was marvellous, and the restaurants ambience was beautiful (I especially loved the super wide photograph they have hanging on the wall of the Italian mountains). We enjoyed the rosemary and oil bread, with a caprese salad, and gonococci. Loved it, and can not wait to return!
