This well deserved Michelin star restaurant was without a doubt one of the best restaurants I have ever experienced. From start to finish everything exceeded all our expectations Andreas along with the other waiters who help wait the tables went above and beyond describing every dish in detail to making sure we had everything. It is evident the chef here has a great passion for culinary arts. Each bite was exploding with flavour. If you re looking for top notch next level cuisine and service, do not hesitate to go here. Also view was stunning on 38th floor of harbour castle. Also The manager himself was personable and proud of the restaurant. I l respect the fact that he made a point of talking to us on a busy night

Food was good but our waiter was not He did not bring us the drink menu when we asked, because we were a younger 2 gentleman they seemed to almost not take us serious or give the same respect as other people eating , waiter didn t even acknowledge or look at us when we refilled our water, very unfriendly , kitchen staff were nice when they came out to asked us how the food was but our waiter I don t think asked once.

After spending over $400 on some below average food thats supposed to be fine dining was treated like absolute trash by the male waiter back in February completely ignoring and blanking us until it was time for the bill and his tip of course

Dont eat here unless your an elderly white wealthy couple your company isnt valued no matter the amount of money you spend here

I really liked the restaurant It reminds me of a restaurant in Montreal because of its circular shape. The Michelin star was deserved The meal is refined and really good It was a great experience

Highly recommend for a special occasion! The dining experience was phenomenal. The staff were so polite, knowledgable, and really made it feel unlike anything we have ever experienced. We joked that the food gave us memories we didnt know we had. We did the tasting menu with wine pairing, and really enjoyed the care that went into selecting the flavours. They served a duck dish that was our favourite, but honestly everything was incredible. Dietary restrictions: My fiancé has an allergy and they were able to accommodate with no issues

Elegant restaurant , fine food , recommeded

Food is great. Service is lower than casual dining chain restaurants. The bartender free pours alcohol and when asked to measure rolls his eyes and says we don t have anything to measure with. It s against the liquor board rules to be free pouring and arguing with customer when they ask to have their alcohol content measured as the law states. Management just wants stands there doing absolutely nothing. Host staff are very welcoming and wonderful. All the chef s hard work is going to waste by front staffs incompetence to provide service.

The food was amazing, so was the service. The bison was incredible, so was the Wagyu carpaccio. Great care is taken to ensure you have an excellent dining experience. We came here for our anniversary and had a great time.

Complimentary appetizers from the chef was delicious: risotto caprese. I did have the opportunity to try the Michelin star dish vesuvio di rigatoni and it was worthy of its reputation. All in all it was a great experience. A must try. Parking: Valet is $25 if you let them know you will be dining at don alfonso.. pull up to the front of the Westin hotel.

Excellent! The cuisine is spectacular and the service is wonderful! Definitely returning. The whole ambience is amazing as well. However, the portions are small so if you are looking for a lot of food you will not be full.

I recently dined at Don Alfonso and had a fantastic experience. The food was beautifully presented and tasted great, deserving a solid 4 stars. However, what really made the night exceptional was the 5-star service we received. Our server, Amanda, was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect. Her professionalism really elevated the entire evening. Overall, Don Alfonso is a must-visit for anyone looking for a fine dining experience with top-notch service.

A scenic table, perfect for a special celebration. We had the Tasting Menu with Wine Flight - beautiful array of complex dishes... one small note - often, in the great restaurants, if a couple each orders a tasting menu, the Chef will tend to vary some of the individual courses so diners can try each others dishes.... unfortunately, this didnt happen... but... whatever... it was still great! the wine pairings were always bringing the most out of each course.... the winner, for me, was the Eel Gelato! Mild Sticker Shock when I got the bill... but still, a great experience!

A long overdue review. It was a surprise dinner for the completion of my exams. I heard a lot about the history and the international recognitions. I finally had the opportunity to try and I would highly recommend! Great atmosphere, great service, and I was stunned by the flavours and thoughtfulness of the menu and pairings. They even prepared the dessert on the house for my celebration. It was truly an amazing experience.

You get what you are paying for. The service is phenomenal, the views are spectacular and the presentation on point. Ordered the a la carte menu which comes with an antipasti, a primi and a secondi. Started with the bread service which was the best part of the entire meal. Outstanding!! Then we were serves a selection of four canapés which were also very interesting and enjoyable. The main course: L Anguilla (eel and caviar) - 9/10. Really creative and refreshing. Paccheri (braised lamb shank) - 5/10. Honestly disappointing. Very bland, lacking flavor and a very basic dish altogether. L astice (lobster) - 10/10. High quality and fresh lobster cooker perfectly, wish there was more! They were really kind to give us a complimentary dessert platter which was pretty good. 4 stars for food only because the paccheri was not what I expected and I found to be very basic. Everything else was amazing. Also, the views from the bathroom are worth a visit (haha). Dietary restrictions: Halal options are available. Best to let them know in advance and also check with the server at the time of dining.

Food was pretty good overall, but it didn t leave me feeling amazed as some other michelin restaurant had in the past. Service was good overall but I wouldn t say it was amazing as I have had better service and experience at other michelin restaurant. Maybe it is just my expectation since this is a 1 star michelin restuarant but the service i received would be more comparable to a high end restaurant in Toronto that does not have any michelin star. Our server on the other hand was pretty good as she was knowledgeable and was the only person that made us felt welcome compare to her collegues that made us felt unwelcome when we step in the resturant. Overall I would say it s a good resturant, but it just did not leave me and my SO feeling ecstatic after the meal, compared to the other michelin restaurant we had in the past. Also, we were sitted beside the server working station, so pretty much the whole dining time the servers were beside us taking out utensils, placing water jugs beside us. I would say, if I have never tried other michelin restaurant in the past i probably would have given don alfonso a higher rating, but because i had I would say i was expecting more. I would say this is more of a highend fine dining experience but definately not michelin star experience.

Really a wonderful experience for our anniversary. Our server Katherine was very polite and attentive throughout the night, and even offered us a tour of the restaurant after we had finished our meal. For a special occasion, this place is tough to top. The accolades are well-deserved. Anyone in Toronto should try it at least once.

What an incredible experience dinner was at Don Alfonso. Our group all did the tasting menu (with a few of us doing the wine pairing) and it was a treat to say the least. All the food was served fresh and masterfully prepared, staff were quick and attentive and left nothing to be desired. The gentleman leading the wine pairing was incredibly knowledgeable and went into great depth on describing the wines paired along with the notes and why they were paired with which dish. He also told us about a 1975 Chateau d Yquem that they had in the cellar which was an absolute treat to taste. If you re on the fence about the wine pairing, just do it. All in all this restaurant lives up to its accolades and Michelin star, we could not have been happier with the experience.

The views in this restaurant are spectacular but unfortunately that s the only great thing. The food was way too salty, the carpaccio was almost inedible with how much salt was on it. The ravioli was good but very rich. The service was okay we couldn t hear them very well and kept having to ask for more water was frustrating. The washrooms were dirty and one of the two toilets was not working. No place to put your purse in the stall I had a clutch without a strap to hang it, also the water in the washroom was cold to wash your hands. Not what I expected at all and in my opinion does not deserve the rating it has. The price of the food was okay nothing outrageous but not worth the price tag. Wine selection was good but the mixed cocktails were also just okay I ordered a martini and it was not cold (personal preference)

From what I infer that they modify your dishes if necessary.

Not sure if this restaurant is truly michelin star worthy but its one of the better restaurants in Toronto especially with its stunning views. I agree that they have the best pre-appetizer bread but main dishes could be hit or miss, and portions are quite small even for a tasting menu. Both times I visited I didnt leave feeling full. It is still an anniversary worthy restaurant, although at this price range, Alo is inarguably a better choice or maybe one can try scaramouche which is my opinion is overall more satisfying experience minus the view.

Giulia, was absolutely amazing, she gave us a wonderful tour of the restaurant and shared so much interesting information about its history and philosophy. Her passion for the place really shone through, and it added an extra special touch to our night. Overall, it was a fantastic experience. Yes, its pricey, but for a Michelin-starred restaurant and a special occasion, it felt totally worth it. If youre a food lover looking for a memorable night out in Toronto, Don Alfonso should definitely be on your list.

Service, impeccable. Atmosphere and view? Breathtaking. Food? Well, this IS a Michelin restaurant... so like, if I said that the food tasted way too rich, bitter at times, and unsatisfying, i think the only explanation is that my taste buds are of the peasantry class and was not able to fully enjoy the refinement. Overall do I regret paying $700 for 2 people for food that didnt taste good even if the service was great and I got to take a poop on a heated toilet with a view of the city... yes, but it was for a special occasion to no complaints... maybe just go somewhere else next time

Went there for my birthday, Italian restaurants are not really my thing, yet its a Michelin star restaurant and my wife wanted a place with a nice view - so she took me there. When I hear some place is a Michelin star I expect to be mindblown by the food - I wasnt. Dont get me wrong, its not bad food (other than the Otoro), but its not great food either. The collection of canapés was by far the best dish, and perhaps what got them the Michelin star, each one of them had rich and complex tastes and were pleasant to the eye and tastebuds. Other than that all the rest were OK dishes but two (thus the 3 star review): IL Bisonte: Was cooked to perfection, but didnt taste good and to be quite honest Ive had better tenderloin steaks in many other places. Much cheaper places. The Otoro dish: This was the biggest disappointment - the poor Otoro was overcooked and lost its rich flavor and its delicate texture. Not what you expect from a Michelin star. The sweets in the end were OK, nothing more. The service was excellent. The view is ok for Toronto I guess, but nothing too special about it. I dont understand why it got a Michelin star. I wouldnt recommend it.

Enjoyed our experience, however it was our first time there and had a bit of confusions, and I would suggest just looking into options of whether you want dining, lounge, or bar area because the menu options are quite different of what is available and what you can have. The view was stunning. After having the options explained to us, we just went with it. I expected a similar experience because I ve been to the other restaurants of this chain and they have been phenomenal. The waiters however were over all professional and pricing was not nearly as expensive I expected. Overall, I think the evening ended OK, if I had read through how the dining room menu works, it would ve been a far better experience, we kind of just walked in expecting to have what we wanted and it be easy for us to be accommodated but that s some thing that is important to look into prior to booking and I ll remember to do so in the future. Suggest this for anniversary or occasion, or just nice view of the city. Thanks to all the staff.

Coming back for the 3rd time, but this time is not as good as before. Sorry don alfonso, you used to be my favorite, but probably not anymore. Everything was good as the tuna tartar isnt too fresh. As well, I got charged for 5 bottles of water... Im unsure if I really had 5, but I didnt bother asking about it. The server never told us that hes gonna open another bottle. We had the tasting menu with wine tasting... so come on, you dont need to rip me off from the water. Good view, service is good otherwise. Previous experience: Ordered the a la cart menu. $130 per person. Personally, I think its totally worth it. The quality of the food is good... presentation and everything. Nice Atmosphere and service.

The very definition of fine dining. Professional wait staff, proper understanding of the menu and even the chefs in the back professional and friendly. They truly care about the customer experience from the food to the service and even chefs are proper. No better place for a date meeting or even just for fun. The portions are extremely well done where you don t feel like you want to go to sleep but actually satisfied in both flavour and a healthy quantity. Only wish desserts were a bit better otherwise top notch.

From start to finish everything was perfect!!! The young waiter with dark curly hair and an Italian accent looked after us so well and was very attentive! A place to be!

Reserved the Rolls Royce experience for my wife s birthday dinner and it was a truly luxurious experience. Picked up from home by a chauffeured Rolls Royce Ghost to get to the restaurant. Jacob, our driver, was courteous and a great driver providing a smooth and comfortable drive. Our table had a spectacular view of the city at night. Service at the restaurant was wonderful by the whole staff. Our main server, Catherine, had a delightful French accent and provided us with attentive service. The sommelier, Felipe, was very informative with his explanations for our wine pairings. At the end of the meal, the manager Daniel, gave us a tour of the gorgeous restaurant and introduced us to the head chef, Davide Ciavattella. The washrooms are also impressive with floor to ceiling windows. As soon as you lock the door, the bottom half of the window becomes opaque to five you privacy. Very cool. Overall, an dinner worthy of the Michelin star and an experience we will want to repeat in the future. Thank you.

I had high expectations given your restaurant s reputation, but unfortunately, my visit did not meet those expectations. for example, The food was not of quality and quantity. We had guests from Australia and we were really embarrassed, Moreover, I found the overall experience to be quite expensive considering the quality of the food and service. I would appreciate it if you could look into this matter and provide feedback on how these issues will be addressed. I believe that constructive feedback can be valuable, and I hope my experience will be used to enhance the dining experience for future guests.

This was a great culinary experience, each dish had a precise meaning, we chose the testing, regular and vegan and we could feel the contrast and the magic of the chef.

Today, when everything is an experience here, from Don Alfonso to Toronto, we have gone further. A sensational journey in which we were led by an exceptional chef, among expertly rendered emotions and flavors of rare perception. The emotional journey brought out the best of the flavor strategy of the most knowledgeable cooking masters, with the complicity of surprising originality. All in an environmental setting led by two enlightened dining room maître ds, very accomplished collaborators. On the other hand, being revolutionary does not refer (as everyone believes) to the tumultuousness of historical events, but to the etymological one of turning back, returning, going to the starting point. It is like this, like the earthly movement of the revolution, I understand it as a perpetual turning around your culinary logos; sublime and enchanting; irreverent and attached to the past; amazing and keto!!!

Don Alphonso is an experience. The way they described every plate, you feel like its a da Vinci painting. Food was exceptional, atmosphere pleasant, calm and I feel like some background classical music would enhance this experience. Views of Torontos high rise on one side (best view from restrooms ) and Ontario Lake and Toronto Island on the other side make this place iconic. Food was exceptional. We were 3 of us and got to taste most of the A la Carte Menu. The absolute best for my taste buds were: bisonte, vitello, ravioli, duck, eel gelato, lamb pasta. There are some beautiful elegant small vases decorations on the tables (on the downside, those vases need a wash after my son touch it and I guess he wasnt the only one ) The chance to be invited to visit the kitchen at the end while enjoying a digestive, on the house makes this experience complete. Booked through Open Table, couldnt do my review there, as they are too intrusive ( first they ask for phone#, send a code, then they ask for e-mail, ask for password... what would be next after you give them e-mail password.... anyway their way is confusing until you reach the place to leave a review) Parking: Valet parking $25, this is cheaper than street parking on Bay St when events in the area, thats $40.

I typically never write a review of a restaurant, but this was hands down the best restaurant I have ever dined at in comparison to top-tier Italian restaurants in Doha, Dubai, and Toronto. Went in with moderate expectations but left thoroughly impressed. Very inventive, well presented and above all tasty food. Service was smart and polished without being stuffy. Appreciated the pacing of the meal. Never felt rushed. They have a prix fixe a la carte menu and a chefs tasting menu. We chose the a la carte. Standouts were the lobster, carpaccio and risotto. Food and service are both impressive

Celebrated our anniversary here and had the best time! The food, service and atmosphere was unmatched. We felt like we were back in Italy.

The service and vibe are top-notch. The food is also good. As a big fan of soft breads, I wish they had a bakery takeout. The Paccheri pasta and Ravioli are must-tries. Super creamy and truly satisfying. The eel gelato has an interesting flavor. The suckling pig was ok, really tender, but not my favorite. The lobster was a bit of a letdown, mainly due to the bitter sauce. The overall experience was positive. Nice spot for special occasions.

We went there for my birthday. My husband surprised me, and it was definitely the most beautiful experience ever. This isnt just a restaurant; its a heavenly spot that makes any celebration unforgettable. I cant even begin to describe the food it was beyond words and absolutely divine. Our servers were professional, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. Special thanks go to Naelton and Odelle, who expertly guided us through the wine tasting menu and the food courses. The atmosphere was magnificent, situated on the 38th floor with breathtaking views of the buildings beneath and beside us, adorned with romantic lights and beautiful decorations. I would choose this place for any occasion I want to make special and extraordinary.

The atmosphere is definitely the best in Toronto, especially the place with a lake view. It has a very luxurious atmosphere and the servers service is also very friendly and elegant. The food was very disappointing. It was my second visit, and the tasting menu was the same except for the fish menu I separately requested. However, the taste and quality of all menu items were much lower than the previous visit. If I visit later, I think Ill order the 3-course menu rather than the tasting menu. When making a reservation, be sure to request a lake view table separately!!

WAY overpriced for average food....located in a hotel that is just sub par.

I was impressed by the atmosphere and location (great place for a date with sweeping views of the harbour) but unfortunately food fell flat. My biggest gripe was that the temperature was off for many of the dishes (they were mostly warm or cold) and it seemed like the kitchen was trying to time the dishes with the table beside us, creating long 20 minute gaps between each dish and making the service unnecessarily long. We also found some of the dishes to be repetitive given the use of similar plating sauces. Would recommend going somewhere else (like Alo) if looking for a special Michelin starred experience.

I would characterize this restaurant as a bucket list item or special evening out. It s a special place that offers a first class, over the top experience. Extreme care and attention to detail is what this place is all about. And the dishes are exquisite. Their selection of wine may be one of the best that the city has to offer and the views from this location are absolutely memorizing, whether you re facing the downtown core or Centre Island. I had an opportunity to meet the chef because I was raving about one of his home made favorites. Incredibly friendly and welcoming staff right across the board. This is a place you must experience at least one.

Great service and atmosphere , amazing view of the city. One of the best food I have ever had!

The view from the 38 th floor where the restaurant is located is awesome. The ambience is nice with a modern flare, but quite noisy. The first problem is with the menu. There is a prixe fixe option as well as al a carte. The al a carte has a fixed price of $140 and there is a choice of 3 courses. Basically there is no al a carte. The food itself had excellent presentation and that was the best part of it. My 3 dishes were duck, ravioli, and bison. All 3 dishes were sered warm at best. I informed the server about this and she responded by saying that it was there style. Not acceptable. It took our group of 5 3.5 hours to eat. Service was friendly but very slow. Overall value was poor and to be honest totally overrated.

One of the best Michelin experiences Ive had. Beautiful décor and ambiance. Amazing views of Toronto (even from the bathrooms with the floor to ceiling windows). Exceptional service. Details, down to the plates, plating, were all meticulously thought out. Food was fresh, interesting, varied. Came for a tasting menu. Rum/caramelized banana drink was perfect. If youre Michelin hopping, dont skip this one.

This is a place to try at least once. Come for the views and take in the ambience. The best part of this restaurant is the details in the decor. From the presentation of the food to the art displayed around the space. We enjoyed the lounge service and would come back for drinks as we had appetizers and coffee. The lobster tempura was my favourite choice for lounge bites. The citrus sauce was a unique contrast to the crispness of the breaded tempera. This spot is great to celebrate an occasion. It s very easy to access and conveniently located right at the waterfront. Make sure to check it out!

Whole set menu dinning experience takes too long 4 hours of dinner everytime is too much.

I didn t think an experience like this existed out of Europe, and especially not downtown Toronto. Somehow in the midst of all the hustle and bustle lives a restaurant that delivers both in michelin level service and food. We had the pleasure of tasting a wide variety of dishes each with their own authentic taste of Italy. In Europe you would expect to pay twice as much for the food, and triple for the beautiful lakeshore view. See you again soon, Don Alfonso. I have to be honest, the service was AMAZING! Everyone was so incredibly sweet and treated us so so well! The food was really below average unfortunately. We travel ALOT and we have been to soooo many Michellin star restaurants and this one really wasn t impressive. I do have to say the ravioli was phenomenal. If I had just ordered that and something else, maybe I would have changed my mind but we ordered the tasting menu and it was just okay. But I do have to say the chef is very talented, some of the flavours in some of the dishes were phenomenal, but the tasting menu should change for the price. Every dish should be phenomenal.

My all time favourite dining experience used to be at The 5 Flys in Amsterdam. This experience now far exceeds it. The atmosphere, design and view are exceptional with attention to details like Onyx lit dividers to the art work. The wine list and room were truly inspiring and the sommelier was not only well educated but enchanting. The service and presentation were attentive and engaging. Andrea was always aware of what was happening at the table and anticipated our needs. Felipe the manager was hands on to elevate our experience. His after dining tour delighted the entire group. The chef deserves the Best Italian restaurant in the world outside of Italy award. The food was artistic and a culinary treat for all your senses. Everything and everyone made this an exceptional dining experience that I cant wait to go back and experience. Dietary restrictions: Our party had 2 diners with dining restrictions and they were gifted with attention to their individual needs like they were royalty.

First time dining at Don Alfonso s with my girlfriend for a special occasion. I am blown away from the service of our waiter. His knowledge of dishes and drink pairings were impressive, and was able to accommodate our dining experience with our dietary restrictions. Don Alfonso s truly lives up to their awards and accolades. Their dishes were very innovative, with each bite better than the last. Would highly recommend this establishment.

Truly one of a kind experience. My husband took me there for my 55th birthday as I requested an experience type birthday present. And it was a 3.5 hours of food bliss. Starting with the scones and freshly squeezed olive oil (the aroma of which I still remember) to a three course meal rhapsody every dish was a celebration of food and life. The sommelier approached our table without having to request him and paired my duck with red wine perfectly. He asked about my second course (which was wild mushroom ravioli) and suggested that La Ca Novel would benefit both dishes. it was so perfect for those two dishes. Each dish came like an art work with compositions perfectly laid out on a plate and ornamented with accents of spinach for the duck, cheese shavings for the ravioli and red caviar for the lobster. No words how well everything was presented. The whole birthday present experience was a paced out pleasure for the senses. With valet parking, two glasses of wine, two glasses of fun mocktails, sparkling water and a 3 course meal followed with desert and tea including a tip was $540 plus $50 for valet parking. The tea must be experienced here. An elevated high quality loose leaf tea in its own tea pot served with real aromatic honey. I forgot the view. The view. We sat at the table against the wall (not by the window). But it turned out to be the best view of 180 degrees of the blue lake waters and the city skyscrapers. Come before the sunset to experience both views. The only one suggestion I may make for improvement would be (an objective observation and not everyone may agree with it) to add some tall plants between the table. They would fill the awkward empty spaces between some tables and add privacy and coziness to the guests at each tables. But of course it would add an obstacle to the army of the servers who get very busy at around 9-11 pm. The service was highly professional with impeccably dressed well spoken staff.

Came here for the 1st time for a birthday dinner and could not be more pleased! We had the tasting menu and everything was incredible. We had a food allergy and the staff was able to accommodate completely. A special thank you to Mary Lou who was our server! Along with the food and atmosphere, she made the experience truly special and intimate. Will be back again soon!

Food was very good. Service needs improvement. Empty dishes were staying on the table for way to long (10-15 min), serving should be always done on your right and empty dishes should be removed from left side of the guest. Wine glass should never be empty unless your bottle is finished. Waiting for cocktails to start was long. Let me be clear I am not picky. It is acceptable at road house chain restaurant but not Michelin Star restaurant. Part of the experience is the view and lounge tables at back wall are not worth the money at least for one of the guests sitting there facing the wall. It will be better to have a table there where both guest will have a better view sitting parallel to the window. What I did not really like was the payment process where the machine was handed over with 20% tip pre-selected. It is not about me being cheap it is about giving me a choice how much I want to tip. At 700 dollars spent 5% wouldn t make a big difference. Choosing to spend someone s money makes a difference at least for me. Anyway food was good staff was excellent money well spent but again it is a Michelin Star restaurant and details matter.

We went there for our wedding anniversary, food and service both top notch, our server Kelly was very professional. Kid-friendliness: They have high chair, however their washrooms don t have changing table, which was challenging to change diaper for my son.

Was not sure if it would live up to its Michelin star.. but it did! Dishes were thoughtful and a bit playful (but you could recognize the star ingredients). Something for everyone - the verdura main was the best braised vegetable I ve ever had, for example. The service was really great - pleasant and attentive but not overbearing. Loved the wine. Would recommend.

Don Alfonso s is one of the top dining experiences my wife and I have ever had. From the second we walked in until the time we left, every aspect of the dinner was incredible. The service was unbelievable. Not overbearing or pretentious, every single employee we interacted with were friendly, helpful and genuinely happy to be working at this establishment. The food was spectacularly plated, arrived at the perfect time and was delicious. We did the A La Carte menu because we didn t feel like we had enough time to really savour the tasting menu. The bread was amazing (and they brought out more when I went on about how great it was), and so were they mains. We did the risotto and ravioli for our pastas (in her words, the best ravioli my wife has ever had) and then the bison and the lobster for our mains. On top of the amazing food, the wine pairings from Filipe were out of this world. And I mean complimented the food in a way I ve never experienced before. Our waitress (a young woman from France whose name I unfortunately forget) was attentive, knowledgeable, friendly and gave us great recommendations. At the end of dinner we were even given a tour of the kitchen. You can tell this is a place where the employees take pride in the experience and food and I 100% understand why the restaurant is Michelin starred. I honestly cannot recommend this place enough. Thank you so much for such a memorable dinner. We cannot wait to come back.

Absolutely stunning second time here and definitely worth it.

Don Alfonso 1890 is expensive. And worth every penny. The food was magnificent and every member of staff superbly trained intelligent, courteous, obliging, and knowledgeable not just about the restaurant s menu, but about food and wine in general. And they were all willing to share their passion for food and wine with guests in the most pleasant, unstuffy way. We had the tasting menu and wine pairings and were blown away by all the different tastes, textures and varieties. One fabulous, complex dish followed another, each prepared and presented with the greatest degree of skill. It was a delicious, charming, memorable evening.

The food and service is not worth the price. Their menu was limited compared to their website, and when we asked their staff why there is a difference, they couldn t clearly explain it in English, their speaking skills were poor. I don t know how they have got 5 stars, staff are not good English speakers, food is extremely expensive, menu is not fixed and changes with no reason, and each person needs to spend at least 200 dollars. Another thing to consider is that no one even replies to negative reviews on Google map which is not professional for a high price restaurant.

It was a great experience for Valentine s Day. It s nice and high up on the 38th floor, being surrounded by the city just makes it feel so much nicer. We had a great time with Alex he was the cherry on top of the whole experience. The food was delicious me and my fiancé had their signature tasting menu as well as their wine pairing and it was definitely the right choice.

Came here for my birthday and had the best experience, service and food was amazing ! I didnt know that I would love bison but they made it so well. Every dish was made amazing, and was described very well. The only thing that I thought was a little lacking was the dessert. Overall, I would come back again.

The view from the dining room is breathtaking! We did the signature tasting menu - my pescatarian restriction was accommodated well and the dishes were beautiful. I really enjoyed the eel gelato dish (so creative) and the Amalfi Coast dessert. The pasta was also delicious. Some dishes were not to my liking, but that s the beauty of tasting menus! Something I enjoyed less might be someone else s favourite. The experience was fun and my friend even got a birthday present. Very cute touch!

We had an amazing experience at Don Alfonso. GREAT CULINARY EXPERIENCE I would say. Great Food with City s best views served with great service and great hospitality. Our server made sure to explain all the details about the food we are eating and gave us a quick tour to kitchen and the whole staff is so friendly and always smiling and ready to answer any question you have. We went for our anniversary dinner and every dollar we spent was a total worth. The place is definitely pricey but as I just mentioned ITS TOTALLY WORTH IT. We are vegetarians and Don Alfonso made sure to accommodate our request and served us the best food. Loved each and every bit of our experience at Don Alfonso. They also have a valet parking available and if you tell them you are dining with Don Alfonso you get 50% discount on valet

I ve tried calling this place a dozen times, left messages, etc, never a response or call back. I wanted to make a reservation with a specific request. Maybe they think they re too important to add new customers, but if that s the service before you even get there, it s probably a sign that it s not much better at the restaurant.

Most beautiful view of toronto on the water you will get book your reservation for an hour before the sunset of that day to get the full experience. Food is of course what you may expect with their rating for the second best in Italy, I would have to disagree and am biased as I got to experience farm to table in the northern mountains in Abruzzo, Italy not even comparable sorry guys!! But they did offer a pasta that is dried from the sea breeze with the natural salt from the water / wind making a profound difference in the texture and flavour. Definitely worth the experience overall and the a la carte menu has great options for a great price. Great wine and caviar menus. Jeff the manager is the best!!!! Make sure you get a photo in the washroom with the window of the city as your backdrop

Been calling for cancelling my reservation for a whole day from before and during restaurant hour. Never success. Option 4 to management is not even a valid option to choose. Extremely surprised. I dont need this type of unnecessary stress. Or dont charge $100 per head count late cancellation fee. Follow up: finally someone pickup but put me on hold. Now I have been waiting for 8mins.

I have followed Don Alfonso for sometime now. I have taken my Staff to dine at 2 previous locations... I will not be returning to their restaurant in the future.. I was there recently to celebrate my friends 70th birthday..we have been friends for 55 years. Although we enjoyed the food...it is not worth the $757 bill and this was not even the Tasting Menu.!!!!!!! We shared a bottle of wine... I contacted them after we had dined..but have yet to here from them.. Sooo disappointed..

Truly a spectacular evening. Catherine, our server, was amazing and knowledgeable and took excellent care of us throughout the night. The food was fresh, beyond delicious, and beautifully presented. As we were celebrating a birthday, we were also surprised with a beautiful dessert arrangement and small gift. This place was amazing!!!! Expense? Yes, but 100% worth it!!! The food was beyond anything I ve ever tasted. My whole family went with the tasting menu and the wine pairings. It was absolutely amazing. I m not a wine expert but I can say each wine was better than anything I ve ever tasted. A sommelier poured each glass, explained the wine and how it complimented our food. The service was beyond! Dylan was our main sever and he was friendly and kind and made us feel like we were the most important people there. When the food came out, the servers synchronized placing the plates down in front of us. The bathrooms were incredible! The views of the city were like nothing else. If you want to treat yourself to a special occasion, please come here!!!

We celebrated our 10 year anniversary at Don Alfonso. Our dinner was exceptional. Each course of the tasting menu was a piece of art. Our server, Catherine, was so attentive, courteous and professional. Every server who came to our table was mindful of the tiniest details, including which side to serve our plates from and which hand to use. We highly recommend Don Alfonso and will definitely be returning again.

This is my second visit, and I only have good things to say about this restaurant. The lake view is extremely pretty. The food - from the appetizer bread, main dishes to the desserts, melts in my mouth. Wine selections are amazing as well. The waiter was always welcoming and extremely kind. The moment you step in, everything feels like a high fine dining experience. Definitely worth every penny and great for family/business meetings as well :)

Having been to Don Alphonso s previous locations at Casa Loma and their first location on Toronto Street, thought I would drop in and check out their new location and have a cocktail or two. Spent some time at the bar and was served by Japhet Bower and Elijah. Service was excellent, and Japhet created a cocktail upon demand that was not on the menu. Good times - will definitely return.

Highly recommend the eel tagliatelle, wrapped bison, and herb-crusted lamb. Bread was unexpectedly good, the focaccia was amazing. Cocktails were fun and delicious, highly recommend the Affumicato. Service was top-notch. Food

I really wanted to love this and had been anticipating it for a while since I had cancel my bday last year. Went again for my bday this year and had a lovely experience. Good food, wine, service. However I came home and had the worst food poisoning likely due to their carpaccio. Ruined my birthday weekend all together. Most disappointingly when we reached out to let the restaurant know we received a pretty generic email reply back saying they would investigate and it has been 2 weeks and still no follow up. For a 1 Michelin star spot I truly would have expected better. Not asking for anything, but an actual phone follow up would have been appreciated. Certainly will not recommend as there are plenty of other better spots in Toronto. Super disappointed in this restaurant. Edit to add: It has now been nearly 2 months and still zero follow up. I will not be going back. What a disappointment

Michelin star experience in Toronto; it is somewhat complicated. Lets start with the venue - a very typical highrise restaurant, think CN Tower restaurant or Watermark in Niagara falls. The views are nice, the room is not rotating through. The service is great (if a bit too much sometimes), the waiters are knowledgeable, attentive and nice. The food... You definitely pay premium for the location and for the Michelin star. We took the most expensive signature menu + 2 glasses of wine + coffee. Overall it was a fairly typical 6 course + 2 course dessert + 1 bread course experience. The dishes were presented in a predictably beautiful way, but the taste was somewhat subdued and felt safe. I do not have specific complaints but I just expected the food to be more exciting and imaginative for the price. Oh and they have the best washroom Ive ever seen in a restaurant; almost 180 downtown views, floor to ceiling windows, very impressive.

One of the best fine dining experiences Ive had. The only thing I can say is that the tasting menu was too focused on fish. Id liked to have a few other seafoods in the tasting menu like a lobster or octopus.

Food was delicious and the atmosphere is great. However, we were just there and had to move tables because of another patrons sent was overbearing (not the restaurants fault). Unfortunately, my wife got a migraine after that and we asked to leave early, the server rushed the last corses and the bill - rather than skipping them which would have been more appropriate. Overall a lovely restaurant, but they dealt with the situation poorly. Generally they did a great job, but this point could have used some improvement for the price.

Its an experience from start to finish. A private elevator with a scenic view of the city at the Westin Harbour Hotel takes you to the 38th floor. Lovely staff greets you as you exit the elevator. They have coat check which is what youd expect from a Michelin star restaurant. The restaurant is 360 degrees with limited seating. Theres no overcrowding. Every table gets a great view of the city and the harbour. We had harbour view and could also see the kitchen and chef in action. Theres a drinks menu with a variety of cocktails. They can also make any off menu cocktail as well. Wine list was massive. A caviar and champagne menu. We ordered a Margarita and a Manhattan. They were decent and nothing special. Food menu had two options - Signature Tasting menu and A La Carte. The signature tasting menu is $220 and contains their best offerings 7-8 courses. The menu itself was lit and I thought that was a very cool touch. The A La Carte is $140 and offers 3 courses. Each course has a choice of 4-5 dishes. We read a lot of the reviews before going and decided to get the A La Carte menu. The portions may look small, but each dish is very rich and fills you up quick. We started off with bread service with 3 different varieties - Focaccia, Bread stick, and Fig and Blue cheese. It was fresh out of the oven and very very soft. Paired well with their olive oil and truffle butter. Very delicious. Next, they brought an assortment of canapes. Although these are not included in the a la carte, our server, Benjamin, got these for us and were so glad he did. The flavours were mind blowing. We especially enjoyed the tuna on the tapioca wafer (?), Italy in a Bite Caprese salad and Bison Tartare. Taste buds were on overdrive. Very well done. For our first course, we got Il Carpaccio. Its so so well done. It had tiny pearls of vinegrette that just provide a burst of flavour in your mouth. For second, pasta course, we got the Vermicelli and the Rissoto. The vermicelli was absolutely delicious and one of the best dishes all night. The Rissoto was also fantastic and very rich and creamy. For the final course, we got the Bisonte (bison Wellington in a cheese crust) and the Lobster. The Bison was perfect. It was so so tender and paired well with the sauce reduction. The vegetables and mashed potato tasted fantastic. The lobster was also very good. We were going to skip desert, but were surprised by a complimentary assorted dessert plate with nitrogen brewing out of the platter. It was a good sight. The desserts were quite good, although not as memorable as the food. Dont forget to checkout their washrooms. Thats where the best view of the city is. Even the toilets are automated like in Japan. After our meal, Benjamin gave us a small tour of the kitchen. We met the chef briefly. Overall, a fanatic culinary experience that one should strive to try atleast once in their lives if they enjoy food as much as we do.

TLDR: I don t think it gives one of the top 50 Italian restaurants outside of Italy. None of the signature tasting menu items was very memorable and is way too overpriced for what we got. $700 for 2 people to do the signature tasting menu with tip and 2 drinks. View is nice, the dining area is nice, staff was nice Didn t feel like it was worth it in terms of mind blowing taste, perhaps just not for my taste buds. Presentation of the food was lovely and although I wasn t a big fan of the taste for most dishes, the textures were great. If I ever go back I d try one item I want to eat instead of the tasting menu. I felt there could have been more on the tasting menu for the price. For parking we did valet for $25. Also, the restaurant is inside the Westin hotel. Parking: You ll either need to park at a parking garage or use the hotel valet.
