A neighbourhood gem crafting pastas, hand-stretched pizzas and inventive rotating specials. Walk-ins and reservations are welcome!
We reserved a table for a Friday dinner. Everything we ordered was decent; however, there was nothing to take note of. It wasn't crowded for a Friday night, but we were a bit early diners that night to catch a show nearby. Even though they forgot my tiramisu, the service was friendly. I don't like to be rushed and almost pushed out at a restaurant, and the relaxed-paced service at Frankie’s was something I liked against some other mentions.
Tl;dr We had a good experience at Frankie's, and the service was fine, the food was good, the dough on the pizza was fire and the pasta texture was on point. 4.5* overall. My partner and I came here 2x, as we were exploring hidden gems in the Leslieville, and we accidentally ran I to this restro. At first glance from the outside, we couldn't even tell it was a restaurant. Upon walking in, we were greeted pretty promptly, but truthfully, there weren't a lot of patrons for them not to give us attention. We seated inside on our first experience then outside for the second. The interior is adorable -- great eclectic wallpaper with a hit of old skool industrial feel. The kitchen was open and you could see them prepping your meal. It's always nice to see an open kitchen. The outdoor back patio (which they have made pet friendly btw), has a few fairy lights and the ambience could have been better if the air condition unit wasn't right by the patio (or at least had some enclosure) and if the outdoor chairs weren't so uncomfortable). As for the service, it's good, but not great. They're nice but try too hard to be nice and never felt natural. There's a touch of lack of either experience of professionalism.... Just awkward overall experience. Either way, it was fine but not outstanding. Finally the food... We had the burrata (twice), once without the poached pear (which they ran out of) and once with. By far, much better with the pear and a must order dish. The unfortunate thing is, doesn't come with bread even though you're paying a premium for burrata itself. The pasta, was good overall, had tried both the fungi and pesto. The funghi ravioli was nice, perfect pasta texture, but could probably have done without the truffle oil. The pesto was nice, simple, easy flavours. Once again, nice pasta texture. The pizza was better, great bread crust, chewy and kept their shape when you picked it up. Nice flavour on the bread, touch of sweetness and fluffy crust. Overall, a good experience, would have been great with some tweaks but definitely worth trying.
From the moment you step in, the warm, rustic decor and the inviting aroma of fresh herbs and garlic set the stage for a memorable dining experience. The service is prompt and friendly, with staff that are knowledgeable about the menu and eager to make recommendations. The pappardelle fungi is a masterpiece. The wide, flat pappardelle noodles are cooked to perfection—al dente, with just the right amount of chew. They are generously coated in a luscious, creamy mushroom sauce that bursts with earthy flavors. A mix of wild mushrooms adds a delightful variety of textures and tastes, from the firm bite of porcini to the delicate, almost buttery softness of chanterelles. Each bite is a harmonious blend of the pasta’s tender texture and the rich, savory sauce. A sprinkle of fresh parsley and a dusting of Parmesan complete the dish, adding a touch of freshness and a subtle, salty kick that balances the creaminess beautifully. Love a place and recommend for everyone 🫶
Friendly service but a little bit slow (waited ~5-10 min after finishing meal and still had to waive them down for the bill). Our server was friendly and very helpful. Lots of great specials available. We had the meatballs & garlic/Parmesan bread, chicken parmigiana & funghi pappardelle. The meatballs were a bit dry (overcooked) but the tomato sauce was fresh and the addition of ricotta was nice. The sauce was perfect to dip the garlic bread into. The chicken parmigiana was juicy and had the perfect amount of breading. Pomodoro pasta was simple, pasta was nicely cooked. The Parmesan they sprinkled on top tasted store bought. Funghi pasta was a bit oily and had a weird gritty taste. I think they use a truffle paste which had a bitter taste. Would not order again. We didn’t eat it all. We got an espresso martini. It was very good and would recommend! It was simple (won’t have some of the more complicated flavours at a true cocktail bar) but good flavours and the foam was done perfectly. Price was fair. $26 for the chicken parm, $21 for the funghi pasta, $15 for espresso martini. Overall, it’s a decent restaurant but would not go out of my way for it. There are others close by in the area that we’d go to over it.
We made the drive from Brampton to celebrate my wife's birthday and it was Amazing!! Sharon ( forgive me if that's not correct) and the whole staff were friendly and very attentive. Fantastic food and great drinks. Thanks to the whole crew!!
They offer Italian cuisine with a full bar. They have a couple of tables, mostly serving parties of 2, but you can ask them to put the tables together if there’re more in your group. The music could be turned down a bit, specially if you seat close to the kitchen area. We ordered “Lamb Sausage Pizza”. The pizza crust was perfectly crispy and the texture was amazing, but the bottom of the crust was mostly burned. The pizza tasted good, but it was too fatty, maybe because lamb meat contains more fat compared to veal or beef. You can find Green P parking on the street in front of the restaurant or on the adjacent streets.
Think the new owners are ironing out the kinks and getting their footing. Stopped by for dinner and got a bunch of stuff. The kale salad and meatball were both pretty tasty, and thankfully we got them at happy hour prices for the portion sizes. The speziata dolce pizza was ok, crust was a bit burned and would have liked the soppressata to be a bit less chewy, but the hot honey was great flavour. The lamb ragu pappardelle had good al dente pasta and chunks of tender lamb. The po bianco was my least favourite given it was identical to pizza dough and not enough garlic. Interior and vibe are casual, service is quick, overall a pretty good experience.
Visited Frankie's Italian as part of a Yelp Elite event this week. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a striking portrait of the restaurant's matriarch, adding a personal touch to the ambiance. The interior seamlessly blended retro vibrance with modern design elements, featuring wooden accents and marble tables reminiscent of authentic Italian eateries. While the service was satisfactory overall, there were occasional delays that affected the dining experience. Our meal included the Lamb Sausage Pizza and the Beef & Pork Ragu Pasta. The pizza had robust flavours, with the standout being the perfectly baked crust. However, we were disappointed to find that the "sausage" lacked the expected texture, resembling crumbled lamb rather than a traditional sausage. The Beef & Pork Ragu Pasta showcased classic Italian spices, although the ground meat had a softer, flatter consistency than anticipated. Despite these minor setbacks, Frankie's Italian offers a solid option for Italian cuisine enthusiasts seeking a taste of classic dishes in a cozy setting.
Portions were good food was great server was attentive we went in when the kitchen was super busy and the server handled it well and brought up what wee needed its a little dark but thats the ambience theyre going for I pressume so it was nice, food was good and seasoned well Ill return again
Nobody that works at the restaurant is Italian.
Love Frankie s - our cosy, neighbourhood Italian spot! Food is consistent, service is friendly, and atmosphere is fun and family welcoming! #SweepstakesEntry #ContestEntry
Amazing pizza. I recommend the margarita.
Great reasonably priced Pizza. We loved the Funghi pizza. The atmosphere is very nice. Vegetarian options: Many options with pizza and pasta
I went to this restaurant last Sunday and the food was very poor taste. I ordered a parmigiana with beef and the steak was too thin, almost no cheese and the past was awful, the tomato sauce was very acid, probably they just opened the can and warm it up, after they added on the plate. I wont back to that place ever.
Vegetarian options: Pasta Recommended dishes
So so yummy. Thank you!!
Ordered the chicken parm pasta & pepperoni pizza. The Chicken parm had a lot of potential, great sauce and the pasta was cooked well. The chicken on the other hand, was very overcooked and chewy. Overall still not too shabby.
Super friendly host! spaghetti Bolognese was perfect. The ratio between the meat and the spaghetti is absolutely top on. Mozzarella sticks are also recommended. Good job guys, keep on serving Goodfood.
Amazing food. So flavourful. The service was excellent; not rushed and not too slow. Would go there again.
Pizza was amazing! Service even better Nina and Sonia gave us the best service ever!
the service it s excellent and food it s amazing. highlight to the waitress and all the team i had a really good time in the restaurant. will come back again!
Amazing service and food!
Amazing pizza and amazing staff I recommend 100%
Have you ever wanted to be in a musical where everyone sings the same line at the same time? Well, thats just what happened today. 90s Road Trip was the playlist (Savage Garden), and when the time came, everyone all sang together chica cherry cola!` To sum up, the atmosphere was warm and light, the server attentive and fun, the decor, a collection of white subway tiles, antique mirrors and people-patina benches. Now on to the food. We arrived around noon, and ordered eggs from the brunch menu. I ordered the Melanzana Baked (Italian for eggplant) and my good friend J-Ryze ordered the Meatballs and Egg. My eggs were medium and Js were soft (we werent asked how we wanted them). Maybe a bit too runny for a runny dish. The salad greens were gentle and tossed in house vinaigrette, the baby roast potatoes were sliced fluffy-crisp with a sprinkle of coarse salt. I had the single Espresso which was a tad acidic, and Js latte was a bit weak. More like a light hot drink, and not strong coffee, so make sure you order a double if you like yours stronger. Throughout the meal, we learned more about our server, Josiah, including the recently released Rolling Stones Top 200 Singers (which left Celine Dion out, much to his displeasure). After settling the bill and taking a few establishing shots, we wished him a good day and headed back into the real world for a stroll in the sunshine.
We ve eaten here twice now. The food was delicious. The pastas are and tasty and the pizzas as well with crisp crusts. It was a birthday get together and when the owner found out we were presented with 5 delicious cannolis and candles for dessert on the house.
I arranged a reservation for a party of 10 to celebrate my husband s birthday at Frankie s. Over the course of approximately two weeks prior, I had been in correspondence with the restaurant manager and was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional level of communication and accommodation extended to us. Despite being unfamiliar with Frankie s beforehand, we decided to give it a try due to our fondness for Leslieville. Our experience exceeded expectations, as everyone was thoroughly impressed and repeatedly praised the choice of venue. I had pre-ordered appetizers and dessert, and it was so impressed how there were no errors with any of the orders. Nina was our waitress and she was the epitome of kindness and patience truly one of the most outstanding servers I have encountered in Toronto. Her colleague that evening was equally gracious and welcoming. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The interior of the restaurant was beautifully decorated and impeccably maintained, further enhancing our dining experience. I cannot recommend Frankie s highly enough, and I extend my sincere gratitude to the entire team for ensuring a memorable evening for us. We will be back.
We had fun!
Best pasta I ve ever had. Recommend the lamb ragu gnocchi!
First time here. Nice place to have dinner with friends!
The tiramisu is mind blowing! The service is really great :) kind people and good music Food : 4/5
A lovely dinner thank you!
We just had a most delicious meal at Frankies. I had the eggplant parmesan and my partner had the papardella with mushrooms. Both dishes were excellent! We splurged and shared the tiramisu, which was terrfic. A great choice for Italian food in Leslieville.
Came here as a group for brunch per recommendation from a friend. While our server was excellent we all found the food quite unimpressive. Some of us ordered the carbonara, baci baked, meatball and eggs, and salmon eggs benedict. They were all okay but nothing that stood out unfortunately! Thumbs up for atmosphere and service!
The martinis were amazing and the carmelyzed pizza was the BEST I ve ever had
We love Frankies Italian! Its cute and cozy with friendly service, and reasonably priced yummy food. Weve been a number of times and enjoyed it every time. Most recently, we had the Pappardelle Funghi, the Spaghetti Bolognese, and the Po Bianco, with Tiramisu for dessert. Everything was perfect and tasty. And the house red is great at $10 a glass.
Popped into this charming little spot for a quick Wednesday night dinner. Enjoyed the atmosphere AND the pizza! Beer menu was a bit limited but the wonderful server did a great job of finding a suitable alternative for the original choice.
Great portion food with good quality Tasty pastas and pizzas but also lots of great sides of different veggies in season! Food
Amazing pizza, delicious apps, friendly staff, etc. absolutely recommend for any occasion :)
Good pizza and pasta with tasty rotating specials. Very kind and personable staff. Wifey and I ran into one of our servers a week or two later, who remembered us and just stopped by to say hi. It was very cute Food : 5/5
Went here for brunch the food was super tasty and the staff friendly
Great customer service..! And the food is just superbbbb Food
We found Frankies on a whim and Im glad we did :) The staff was super chill, nice, and helpful - thanks guys! :) The staff lets us know in advance that the kitchen would be closing shortly as well :) We wanted to try the delicious sounding Dark Chocolate Torte but only the Tiramisu was available, which was a bit of a letdown considering 2/3 desserts werent available :/ There are chairs as well as the wooden benches. Im grateful for the pillow provided :) The Caramelized Onion pizza was delicious. The crust was salty and crispy, beautifully baked. I wish there were more shallots on it to enhance the flavour though. The pizza was the perfect size for two! The hot honey wasnt hot but it did add a nice extra layer to the pizza - we requested it and staff was more than happy to help out :) The Cauliflower Romesco was not charred, which I prefer, but I do wish it were cooked a bit more. The small fallen florets soaked up the juices and sauce which made for an incredible DIY pizza topping haha. Prices were decent and we look forward to trying the $50 take out special! While there are some areas to be improved in for the food, our overall experience was great! Looking forward to being back. Cheers!
I found out about this restaurant online on Instagram and have been meaning to check it out. I came here for my birthday celebration. As soon as I entered the restaurant, I was warmly greeted by the restaurant s staff and welcomed. They had clear signage about their happy hour specials and were happy to give me the run-down on the specials I go off the menu. The food was absolutely well prepared, well plated, delicious. The restaurant has a very cozy, intimate vibe. I would definitely come back to this restaurant. The marrow bones appetizer was my favourite dish and at such a great price of $15. If you come to this restaurant, definitely try this dish. We were well attended to during our dinner. Thank you to the staff - for your kind hospitality and making our visit so warm and comfortable. Vegetarian options: There are quite a few vegetarian options which is wonderful. I am a meat eater and I appreciated the various vegetarian options. They had cauliflower, kale, Brussels sprouts, beet roots, etc - as options. Parking: There is paid parking on the street. It is Queen St East with lots of restaurants. So keep this in mind when you book reservations for dinner. But totally worth the wonderful food and hospitable service.
Favorite spot in the city for brunch !! Me and my son come on Saturday mornings. Then we ride the streetcar. Place has been here for over a decade and it is a gem in the city. I hope it s here for at least another ten years.
i really enjoyed the pizza very fresh very delicious , excellent coustomer service, on last weekend i suggest every one to go there and enjoy the food and service. lovely environment i would reccomend couples to go for candle light dinner for there date
Frankies in leslieville offers an authentic Italian dining experience with a diverse menu. From classic pasta dishes to flavorful pizzas, The cozy ambiance adds to the overall charm, creating a delightful dining atmosphere and rustic decor. service by the hostage and co owner was very welcoming. The menu is a simple and delightful Italian flavors, showcasing a range of pasta dishes, wood-fired pizzas, and savory entrées. The freshness of ingredients is evident in each bite, with the pasta cooked to perfection and the pizzas boasting a crispy crust and flavorful toppings. we tried carbonara and speziata dolce both dish were delightful. I was able to add crispy scallion on our pizza which elevated the flavour quite a bit.. While the prices are very reasonable side, the quality of the food and the overall dining experience justifies the cost. Frankies in leslieville is a go-to destination for some delicious food and rustic dining. also at the end we were treated with espresso martini with farrero rocher which was something unique.
I really wish I enjoyed my Carbonara here but I didn t. That said, the hospitality was fantastic and the calamari starter was good too.
This place is so cozy! We went here for a birthday dinner with two kids and they treated us so kindly food was tasty and quick! I loved Frankies and would definitely come back! I wish I took a picture of the food but we were so hungry!!!
I was on a girls date at this place. Loved it! The ambiance is so unique. They put so much effort into making their food. Staff is friendly. Loved dishes and cocktails. Will definitely visit again.
great place for an Italian style dinner. The pizza and gorgonzola potato nhoque was great. It seems their wine bottles are half priced on Wednesdays.
Went here because of the great reviews and they totally delivered. Great cocktails, dinner (pasta) was excellent, and service on point and friendly. Looking forward to returning.
Music and the ambience was perfect. Food tasted yum. We tried their pizza
Amazing food and Service. pappardelle funghi pasta is a must try .
ood is always great. And Josiah is amazing! A gem in the neighbourhood!
Very cozy, affordable Italian restaurant. The new owners are definitely taking customer service and hospitality seriously. I would recommend checking them out. PS: They are certainly very easy to work with if you want to bring groups.
The place inside is so cute. I had the mushroom pasta and it was not that great. It didn t taste like anything, I m not sure what it was missing but it wasn t that great. My sister had the sausage pizza and she loved it so I think the pizza is better. Also our waiter, while very nice was so quiet we could barely hear her talk and we couldn t tell what she was saying ever. The experience overall was average.
Absolutely loved the food, and the couple that runs the restaurant. We ordered only vegetarian food (being vegetarians) and there were a lot of veggie options. I had Moscow mule and it is must try. The pizzas and pasta were top notch. Tres Liches and the carrot cake were absolutely my favorite. Not overly sweet, they were perfect for my taste.
Will be out of business soon. New owners. Total failure.
Tonight I felt like pasta and wine. I had a perfect cozy time with wonderful service by a really kind gentleman I do forget his name but it began with an sh and sounded like Sharen but I do not think that s correct. The food hit the spot, the service was wonderful and the atmosphere was just right. Thank you for the experience. I love gems in our community.
Fantastic service, great brunch, good ambience, I would definitely visit again Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian options Food : 5/5 |
The portions are quite small. The pizza is slightly larger than the palm of your hand. I took pasta with mushrooms, can not recommend. I would like a slightly more interesting sauce (it was actually absent). The vibe is cool though.
Excellent service and delicious menu. My most pickiest eater enjoyed every bite. That s a win for a parent. Will definitely return!
10/10.
We were looking for a restaurant where we could go regularly in Riverside/Leslieville - and Frankies became IT for sure. Service is great (coming often means the manager knows us and makes my martini just right!), specials vary a lot so there is always something to try, and food is very good. Great place for quite conversations with my partner over a good dinner ... or for a night full of laughs with the (almost grown up) kids. Hope it stays for a looong time. Give it a try and you may just become a regular, too, but dont steal our table in the back right on Tuesdays.
Michelle at Frankies was amazing.. the food and service was fabulous...
Amazing food and wine! Quaint little place, quiet and cozy. Youve got to try the Po Bianco Vegetarian options: Lots of delicious vegetarian pasta, pizza and app options.
Fantastic food, fantastic service! Highly recommend the Gigli pasta & the Po bread from the regular menu, but dont sleep on the specials... some great things to find there (including a delightful rotating burrata feature that keeps us coming back!) Negronis are top notch- made with care & feature wonderful flavour combinations. We will be back!
Best pizza in town! Also very good pasta
Stumbled upon this place while looking for a place to eat before a concert, and oh my lanta was it ever delicious! The server was patient, attentive and knowledgeable on the menu. I love the ambiance, the music (maybe a fluke), and of course the food was to die for. Pablo Bianco (soft, warm, garlicky bread) with the meatball is a must. A perfect pairing really! The pasta was great as well, flavourful, but not overpowering and al dente. I will 100% be returning!
Great spot.
The service was not great and the food was even worse. I m not sure if it was that they were overwhelmed with the amount of customers or what but we did not get served for like 45 min and when the food came it was very bland. The saving grace was the music.
First time visiting this place and definitely will go back again!! Loved the food, and it is something different from the regular brunches. Also the atmosphere, the server, all great vibes!!!!!!
I like to come here for brunch. In the spring and summer, the back patio is really nice. Its never too busy here (some of the Toronto brunch line-ups are BRUTAL) and the waitstaff are always very pleasant and attentive. I strongly encourage you to get the truffled eggs if youre there for brunch - you cant go wrong with them - just delicious! Their dinners are also very good and I love their rotating long list of specials. Ive never had them, but my very picky friend is obsessed with their meatballs.
We really enjoyed our experience at Frankie s. Food was delicious. They had this deep dish garlic bread that was soooo cheesy. Service was excellent! Definitely coming back!
Lovely server and atmosphere. I did not give it 5 stars because the portion size was not family size considering it is Italian cuisine. Pizza was almost $20 (one size: personal size) and same for the pasta. The value was not there. Tiramisu was good. We ordered 2 appetizers, 3 pizzas and 2-3 pastas to feed 5 people.
Really delicious and homey dishes. I loved everything we ordered. Would definitely go back!
Hands down the best brunch in the city no competition. Amazing dinner as well Frankie s will always be the go to. Also birthday tiramisu!!
Love their garlic-bready-thing. Been craving that since we last went here. A neighborhood gem. The quality of the food here is really up there.
Frankies Italian was invaluable in helping us survive our recent reno. We lost use of our kitchen entirely for six weeks and had to eat every meal away. Most of the time, we didnt even have use of dishes or cutlery. We did try as many places in Leslieville as possible - many were wonderful, but you had to have a little advance planning. Some required reservations. We didnt always know when we would be able to get out. And when we did, our nerves were often frayed. But Frankies Italian was fabulous. We could just show up. There was always a table. The food is great - I mean, it is comfort food: pizza, pasta, incredible starters. Pay attention to the specials - they really are special. Inventive pasta combinations and main dishes. It is all dependably good with some standouts: charred broccoli with fonduta comes to mind. The service was always friendly and prompt. And the atmosphere was quiet and pleasant. In all, it seemed a happy place to go and we were incredibly grateful that it was there when we needed it! Frankies Italian has been there for years (it used to be called Lil Bacci) and we have always enjoyed it. Definitely one of the places that makes Leslieville a great neighbourhood.
Yummy pasta and pizza! Highly recommend giving their weekly specials a try. Cozy atmosphere, perfect for a date night. Food
Decent atmosphere, especially the patio, but I found serving size to be pretty tiny for the price we paid.
We had the burrata with squash, pepperoni pizza and a bottle of red. The bottle was of good value but the burrata was extremely expensive (very tasty but arrived too cold, the burrata should never be too cold) and the pizza was a mini, 10 in believe (our bad, we did not ask but if you go to any Italian restaurant where the pizza size is not specified it is always 12. That being said, the pizza was tasty. It is not Italian owned or operated obviously but the ambiance is still very nice. Our server seed like she was new, just passing us plates and glasses without really setting the table which is kind of a minimum they do anywhere.
I really want to like this place. They have a cute patio and ambiance, genuinely nice service. But the food was not great. I ordered spiced olives that were supposed to taste like fennel and orange but tasted like supermarket olives. The pasta I ordered had peas three ways but it was a little bland and the pasta was watery, like it had just come out of the water without being drained. The bread starter was tasty however. I think if the food gets better this could be a nice neighborhood spot.
BEST Restaurant until they STOPPED making their CAST IRON COOKED GORGONZOLA GNOCCHI! Me & Hubby used to go there 2 times a week before Covid but then they stopped making this INCREDIBLE Gnocchi. Havent Stepped Foot in their since. Its been 2 1/2 Years! 4 other Couple Friends stopped for the same reason! Sad but True! BRING BACK THIS YUMMY DISH!
The food was good. They have great appetizers and their pizza is not bad. Unfortunately, the service wasnt good and they over charged us.
Not too bad. The menu is pretty small, and they don t make any adjustments (no qualms, common thing in Italian restaurants). I did wish there were a couple more options on the menu. We ordered two pizzas: a margarita, and a pepperoni. Mid to say the least And they re a lot smaller! I had much higher expectations. The house red wasn t bad. But we ordered white, lol. Overall, not bad, but also not great. I think I d select a different place to spend my money.
Wonderful place! Had brunch here and the service is amazing, as were the truffles eggs and French toast! Highly recommend.
Great restaurant in the leslieville area! The beef cheek and cauliflower romesco was delicious
Had the most wonderful birthday dinner at Frankie s this evening. Excellent music and atmosphere, great food. We had the octopus, burrata, kale Caesar, carbonara, & pesto pasta - loved every dish. Our server Tiara was quick, attentive, and helpful throughout the entire meal. Tiara, Riya, and Sharan - thank you for making us feel welcome and singing happy birthday to us. You are all amazing and we can t wait to come back!!
Amazing place. Tried multiple options on the menu like Calamari Fritti, Margherita, Po Bianco and Cosmopolitan. Enjoyed every bit of the meal. Must visit place when in Toronto
Really good pizzazz and pasta!!!Never had before!! Nice experience
Having ordered their $40 dinner special several times, I recommend Frankies. While the salad is on the small side, and the $7 addon for 2 meatballs is overpriced, food quality is always on point. Unfortunately, my most recent delivery order arrived cold. Fortunately, this type of food reheats reasonably well. (Note to restaurants: I dont do follow ups, and consider delivery partners/issues a restaurants responsibility.)
I am extremely disappointed. The food I ordered from here was so disgusting. A plate of canned pasta left out for 2 days would still taste better and fresher. This has to be a front for something shady cuz theres no way you guys are actually running a restaurant.
Time after time, delicious.
We had Valentines dinner at Frankies, and from the moment we walked in the door it was a fantastic experience. The staff was super friendly, the atmosphere was relaxing and comfortable, the drinks were amazing, and the food was delicious. Thanks so much for a great night out, well be back!
Ordered this for delivery last night and overall very happy with it! The pizzas were both exactly what we wanted. WoulD definitely recommend the white mushroom truffle pizza (name is escaping me right now). Nothing wrong with a simple arugula salad with lemon and Parmesan. The slight disappointment was the pastas - a bit over cooked and not loads of flavor. Perhaps better in person rather than ordered for takeout with a 20-30 min delivery so will give them the benefit of the doubt for that for sure. Will try again in person!
So many unique dishes. Po cheesy awesome
High quality well executed meal, excellent service
Forghetta bout it 5 stars for Frankies
Octopus should be on the menu full time!! 5 star dish!
Loved it! Ordered takeout and had Gigli Funghi Misto pasta which was amazing! And the Super Luxe pizza. Wow. So yummy!
10/10!!! Can I please get a million stars to give Frankies? First off Adam and Josiah are some of the best people Ive ever experienced. The cocktails are to die for! Youre passing on an opportunity to taste heaven by skipping on the Negroni Sour! The food.... Dont get me started. PHENOMENAL! THERE IS NOTHING YOU CAN ORDER THAT YOU WONT LOVE!!! The weekly features are just a BONUS! I love love love this place!
The service was very friendly and fast. The food tasted delicious. Both the special pasta dish and the pizza we had were really tasty. You definitely pay for quality but for the portions the prices were a little high but still reasonable. Worth checking out if youre in the area.
Very tasty yet small portion
Yum! We ordered from here during lockdown and we re not disappointed! The food was excellent, but we found portions to be ok the small size for the ticket price. This little restaurant is well decorated and We look forward to enjoying their menu for sit down some day.
Walked past Frankies Italian and thought wed give it a try. Great service!! Best dish was the Casarecce-pistachio & basil pesto w/ creamy ricotta. Perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Worst dish was the FAT MAG - beef & pork ragu, basil & parmigiano...the sauce was burnt. Our server had the kitchen make us another one but since I suspect the main pot of ragu sauce was burnt as the second dish still tasted burnt. I cant believe the kitchen would allow that to go out to customers...twice. Heres what we had: CROSTINI - with puréed roasted artichokes and garlic ARANCINI A LA NORMA - with roasted eggplants and ricotta CASARECCE - pistachio & basil pesto w/ creamy ricotta FAT MAG - beef & pork ragu, basil & parmigiano PEPPERONI PIZZA - fresh mozz, parm & basil
Came here with a friend and we got the eggplant, pasta and meatballs. We got the pesto (pistachio?) pasta - it was overly salty which made it hard to eat and the pasta itself was a bit chewy. Eggplant presentation was nice - flavor was ok- and the meatballs were pretty good. Sauce for the meatballs was nice. Service was good - it was the girls first day so she was nervous but everything went fine. Drinks were delicious!
Lovely place! We dine here all the time!
New favorite lunch spot on outings from work. Havent had a meal yet I havent enjoyed thoroughly. Fat mac and bolognese are excellent
Delicious food and attentive, friendly staff.
Great service
Food was nothing amazing (too salty actually) but the service was fantastic and the drinks were good.
Very nice little little Italian restaurant with very friendly staff. Both our pizza and pasta were great.
Great food and the back patio was lovely and quiet.
Josiah was helping me out today! Genuinely such a kind person and an amazing bartender/server. the food was amazing, but the service was unmatched:) i ll definitely be back and asking for Josiah!!
On google map, it says that they are open on Saturdays until 10 pm. We were there at 9 pm and they were already closed. So we wasted some time and gas and drove for half hour based on a misleading information. Thats not professional at all.
We made reservations for lunch, and got here - the place was closed. No communication whatsoever for those who had reservations. About an hour later there was a sign on the door saying it was closed and apologizing for the inconvenience. Quite disappointing.
Great cozy spot located on Queen Street (close to Logan). Went for a family brunch and the menu did not disappoint. Imagine a fusion of Italian cuisine along with a breakfast touch. We had a variety of dishes from the Breakfast Pie to Classic Eggs Benedict. If you and yours are in the area, brunch is available u til 3pm in Sundays.
Plush place. Services were fast
Went there with my family and felt like the hostess didnt want us there, no sign that she wanted to accommodate us, perhaps because we got kids. Fair enough
My family and I wanted to try this place as it seemed nice. When we walked in, the hostess told us she didnt think there were any tables available and didnt even try to see if there was space implying we should leave. I really dont understand the reason for the rude treatment.
The food has always been delicious and the service attentive
The food was delicious, the service was great, and I love the decor. Its a great place to catch up with friends and another reason to explore Leslieville. Vegetarian options: Theres a lovely vegetarian pasta dish with pistachio pesto. Its delicious!
What a surprise! I ve walked by this spot a number of times so we finally decided to check it out for brunch and I was absolutely blown away! The food is incredible, the mimosas were bubbly and the service was excellent. It seemed like our server Josiah was short-handed on a Saturday morning but he SLAYED that dining room like it was his own dinner party that he was hosting. I had the bacon Benedict which had a generous amount of bacon and the poached eggs were perfectly cooked. My partner and I also shared the French toast and it was a perfect dessert to follow-up. Can t wait to check it out for dinner! Highly recommended!!!
Great little spot with an awesome atmosphere! Food was delicious and service was great. Will absolutely be back!
What an amazing find! We went totally blind after not being able to get a table at a nearby restaurant and we had a great experience. Michelle was such a friendly and nice server, always making sure we had everything we need. The food was incredible, one of the best pizza crusts in Toronto for sure! And serving roasted grapes with burrata? WHAT? SUPERB!
Delicious food, nice atmosphere, and EXCELLENT (attentive, warm) service!
Well so much for going with the reviews. Very disappointing fare. Someone here mentioned bland and I completely agree except the pasta we had was chewy and salty and we sent it back. Tasted like the pasta sat for some time The pizza was a joke - whoever said best crust - we have very different palates. Nothing impressed me here. A glass of mediocre wine was 18$ and probably saved the entire experience. Would not recommend. Waiter was clueless to the menu which was very small. I usually find small menu means great tasting thoughtful food. Not here. Avoid
Nice vibe and decor and good quality food. I got the Spicy Bee pizza and it was very good but spicier than I thought, however I should have expected that based on the name.
I just discovered Frankies Italian last night! Im soooo glad I did! The pizza is deeeeelicious! SO good! Will definitely be ordering from Frankies for all my future pizza nights!
Food was great! Great little place with character to come on a date or have a quiet drink by yourself at the bar. Staff was very efficient and friendly.
Nice casual Italian. Great lunch specials. Perfect date spot!
Cute little quaint restaurant in Queen St. East. I love how they make their own pasta in house. My daughter is picky with pizza and she loved their crust. My hubby had their calazone. It was huge! Meatballs were delish! I think that was everyone s fave appetizer. Their bread pudding is drizzled with a cream sauce that makes it sooooo good. We ate it all before I could take a pic of it. Lol. Great atmosphere for all occasions.
Spicy bee is amazing!!
The food here is solid, and the menu has something for everyone. Service was good, too. The back patio is lovely, and staff were very professional!
Simple but good pizza, friendly staff. Great neighborhood Italian spot.
Fantastic and tasty brunch! The staff is super friendly and service is fast. Cant wait to check this place out for other meals.
Love Frankies! Theyve done a fantastic job, the food is at a low price point, encourages you to get a bunch of options for sharesies. We loved everything we tried, especially the pizza and the meatballs. The daily pasta was a little bland just as there wasnt much sauce, but it was home made and the other ingredients were great so we still enjoyed it. Wr love the vibe and atmosphere, the service was awesome , we dont get to places and pick things apart, we go and enjoy things for what they are and I think as a casual fun italian place Frankies has done a great job with the re-invention!
Great pasta, great service.
a fast fave for a great meal - try to go after 7pm when the moms with the babies clear out
Great little place with amazing pasta
excellent pasta for $10! Nice wine list. Lil Baci was good but Frankies is amazing!
Great Food
Ordered delivery from Frankies last night. The food was delicious, reasonably priced and packaged neatly. We got the pandemic meal deal with pasta, bread, salad and pizza with a bottle of wine... what a great deal and we were stuffed! Definitely ordering again and hope to visit the restaurant soon. Thanks for a lovely Friday night dinner Frankies!
I honestly feel like Frankies is Torontos best kept secret! Ive been here twice and each time has been an excellent experience. Anyone wishing to come here has to order one of their house made pasta dishes. For only $10, you get a well portioned plate of pasta cooked with an incredible sauce. Ive been fortunate enough to have their spaghetti with lamb bolognese sauce and fusili with braised duck. Their house made bread and warm olive appetizers were also extraordinary. My one and ONLY complaint against this place is that service can be a tad slow, but to be fair, its most likely due to your rabid anticipation of chowing down on their incredible pastas. To wrap up this little review, Ill definitely be coming back here and I wont stop recommending this place anytime soon.
Amazing food for a reasonable price. Surprisingly good playlist. Its more casual than it seems from the outside.
Was a fan of the prior concept Lil Baci and was sad to see it go. I recently visited the new concept Frankies, and have to say I like it even more. The updated decor looks great. Dinner menu has lots of options that are great for sharing and trying out a few different items. We shared a salad, gnocchi, pizza and dessert between two people which were all tasty. Price point is really reasonable, making it a nice option for weeknight dinners.Have also returned for brunch, which has a lot of the Lil Baci items plus some new dishes. Favourite was the breakfast pizza.
At Frankies I was able to try the Sausage Pizza and the Mushroom Pizza with truffle oil. While the Sausage pizza had an extremely thin crust with ingredients that complemented eachother well. The Mushroom pizza was overwhelming earthy and could have benefitted more diversity in flavours. Didnt get the chance to try out the sandwiches, but they looked really good.
Great pastas and relaxed, friendly neighborhood feel...
Karri was our server, she was great! Friendly service..cute atmosphere! Try the pappardelle..amazing
Love this place! Its very small. There is a patio in the back. The food is great at fair prices. Their drink menu lacked though despite that the drink process were kinda high. EXCELLENT food!!
High praise for Chef Brandyn at Frankie s Italian in Leslieville. My girlfriends and I had one of our top meals ever there last night. Brandyn s version of Burata included cantaloupe, mint and fava beans, a version more exquisite than any I ve had in Italy or Spain. The Bucatini with cacio and pepe had the perfect amount of heat and all the other bits and pieces we shared, the polpo and shrimp, the special pizza with brussel sprouts and fresh zucchini and Boston salads had distinctive and ultimately delicious flavours. With a glass of Pinot Grigio Forchir Rosadis, and incredible Panna cotta with basil, roasted almonds and honey for dessert we had an absolutely beautiful meal!
Wow what a unique and amazing place. Their sandwiches were so delicious, they were made with pizza dough, just amazing. I loved everything about the service, the food and the atmosphere. Will definitely be back many many times.
I visited for the first time for brunch. I had the breakfast pizza and really enjoyed it. I will definitely be back to try out the dinner menu.
I had the Bucatini Amatriciana pasta and I have to say it was possibly the best pasta I ever had. The homemade noodles were cooked perfect and the sauce was incredible. Price point was excellent too. Highly recommended
Newly open italian delicious food cant any where find a amzing and tailor fit pasta for any one reasonable price its only $10 they have every day three kind of pastas ready to serve you guys amazong love this place once yuh visit never forget to come back truly raju thanks try the (baby octobus) fride love it
Great service! Pasta tasted perfect!
Great service and the food was excellent
Cute cozy eatery with a rather small but delicious menu. Friendly staff and slightly better prices than any other downtown restaurant. All in all, highly recommended.
Good brunch
Excellent pasta, hand made. Pasta changes everyday and posted on the board. Can also accomodate to made a plain pasta for my little boy who loved it.
Everything we ordered was excellent.
This is a great spot for fresh, great tasting Italian food. We ordered the featured pizza, featured fish, featured pasta the gnocchi. The pizza was really thin and tasted so good. I could have probably gone through 5-6 of those before realizing what I had done. The pasta is cooked al-dente which Im not really a fan of but you can ask them to cook it soft. The gnocchi was the best thing we ordered, its served in a skillet and it is YUM! I highly recommend the pizza and the gnocchi and would come here everyday for those two items. The rest of the food was pretty good but nothing came close to the pizza and the gnocchi.
Garlic bread was nice, pasta though was like pasta and a jar of sauce from the store. Not what I was expecting compared to some other Italian restaurants Ive had take away from.
Pleasant surprise great food. Cosy restaurant on queen street. We went there for breakfast. All of us got served promptly and the food was good. All people working there are very nice and helpful.
Great local eatery.
Delicious homemade pizza and pasta! Every dish was unique and yummy. Favorite was the mushrooms pasta. Pizza was really good and thin crust was paper thin to let the toppings shine. Service was also fast, efficient and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.
Great price for the area and I love that the menu changes daily. Beautiful space, great food and good service.
Absolutely delicious! The pasta is on point and well portioned! They always have daily specials and honestly everything on the menu is delicious. The starters are great to share and the pizzas are phenomenal. So many delicious cocktail pairings to go along with as well!
We just moved in across the street and have been checking out restaurants in the area. Fantastic service. Apps came out super quick (which was perfect given my partner and I were starving when we got there). Just the right amount of time was left between apps being cleared and mains served. Everything was delicious. Reasonably priced. Will absolutely be returning!
Very disappointed. Bad experience. Definitely never come again and do not recommend to anybody else!
Of the three people in our party, only I got a meal. The other two orders apparently didnt print in the kitchen so the other two in our party went hungry for well over an hour after I was served. When the server finally came back to check on us, he asked if we would like to put in a new order. He was nice about it and apologized for the mistake in the kitchen. At least I got to eat! The other two were hangry so we went home and made noodles. Save yourself 2 hours and just make noodles at home.
I first ordered from this place about two weeks ago during lockdown. It came up as a suggestion when my preferred place was closed. It was good. Not great. Not a go to in the future unless other options are unavailable. Really disappointed to see that since then the price for a bottle of wine has gone up $10!! PRICE GOUGING. Shame on you!
Really small portions
Great food great service would recommend. Love the environment.
