Thev menu asks for you to tell them of your food allergies. Then they proceed to bring you tasteless food. No sauce as if you should be punished for having allergies. I ordered provimi veal. It wasnt provimi at all. Then I asked for my pasta that was supposed to come with the veal. I was served a bowl of plain pasta. Not even oil and garlic on it! When I asked for tomato sauce they looked at me like I was crazy. And the prices were not cheap. Disgusting. Ill never go back. And you shouldnt either.

Lovely 1st time here. Tomato sauce clean but mild. Service awesome. Food generous and very good.

Having been a long term customer of Gamberonis, I was surprised how the quality has slid. It used to be a stable local restaurant that we would go to for special occaisions or just because. The old restaurant across the road had much better atmosphere, but thats the past. As we hadnt been to the new location in a few years, and my mother who had been there recentlly, we decided to retry an old favourite. It was a Friday night, not too late and yet many items on the menu they were out of. The boards too had red tape across familiar menu items, but clearly no long available. The tape was old so clearly the menu items were no longer available for quite some time. The decor looks like the transplanted a few items from the old restaurant, painted a new mural, and then stopped. Perhaps the move from across the street was hasty and they will someday complete the decor. Most importantly, the food. Uninspired, lacking the basics of salt and pepper. Definately not the food they were know for. My food didnt fully meet expectations. The veal was good, the pasta was supposed to be linguine Crostaceo, it was spaghetti from what I could tell, round not flat. While it was hot, it was lacking seasoning unfortunately. The shrimps placed overtop the veal Im guessing were precooked, too bad, that never would have happened before. Probably the biggest complaint, when a customer chooses an 8oz glass of wine, they expect 8 oz, not 5 oz in a big glass. At $20 for the wine and the meal being $30, it was an extremely poor POUR. Another persons Fettuccine Salmone was so overcooked, the pasta wouldt roll around the fork. The sauce was bland too and really to much sauce for the pasta. Dessert, oh yeah they were out of that item, but the large table beside us who ordered afterwards got the last slice The other dessert was forgotten about and only arrived after our coffees were finished. Hmmmmmm, not a good sign on so many items.

Based on reviews, we were expecting a neighbourhood restaurant with good homemade local foods. These days we are trying to support family businesses . At the end of the evening, instead of feeling good , we felt resentful. Not good . When trying to address a simple egg food allergy, we were told that the bread, and the pasta were not made in house, and so they couldn t verify the contents . So much for homemade family cooking. Fresh bread, Contents of which were unknown, looked like it came out of a grocery store .All they needed to do was look at the packaging. The misto salad , Supposedly enough for two came in a small bowl and look like it was a mix from a salad bag. The mozzarella on tomato, We re also small pieces of mozzarella. The signature dish, Gamboni consisted of three overcooked shrimps. The veal Parmesan was uninspiring as was the pasta. Service was good, atmosphere Pleasant. Very much a disappointment for the $80 per person Tab (which included one drink, and a cappuccino.) Next time when I have an urge for Italian , I will visit No Frills.

Amazing! I typically don t go to this area but the Winterlicious menu options looked amazing and it did not disappoint. There was not one thing on the menu we didn t like. The mussels were amazing, osso buco fantastic and the pastas were cooked to perfection with delicious sauces. One of our favourite things was that the food was not oversalted. You can TASTE the ingredients. The tiramisu and mascarpone vanilla cake were homemade which was a lovey surprise. This restaurant is family-owned and run, super cozy and you can tell locals love this place and they have a lot of regulars - even on a Tuesday night. We had a great experience and would definitely go back. Thank you!!

Overall horrible experience. The service was extremely slow, the busser was not knowledgeable about any of the food or of the menu, and would walk away mid-sentence of talking to him. The restaurant took over 1 hour for our mains to come out with the portions being extremely disappointing. I ordered the gamberoni and the pasta could have been less to feed a child. It was 2 mouthfuls of pasta, it was overcooked and bland, and came with a total of 4 shrimps. The atmosphere is very small and quiet. I would not recommend this place to anybody.

We have been eating at Gamberoni since 1988. There is a reason it has lasted all these years, while other restaurants at Yonge and Lawrence have come and gone. The food is always first class as is the service.

Found this place not too long ago but I have fallen in love. Wonderful food and people . A genuine family-owned establishment. The best thing is I am pregnant and it seems every time I pick up my order and get home to unwrap, the portions are gradually getting bigger as I get bigger and my pregnancy progresses . Love it ! They know how to hit home !

Excellent classic Italian. Flavouful sauces, nice menu, and fantastic ambiance. But, hygiene. Had fruit flies in my order & still had to pay.

Incredible food

In the 30 plus years we have been dining at Gamberoni we have never had a less than great meal. The quality of the food is excellent. The servers are friendly. I am not a fan of the new menu but they will gladly prepare dishes from the old menu like rigatoni pastore. They also make a great puttanesca pasta dish which isnt on the menu.

Our #1 go to authentic Italian restaurant in Toronto for almost 25 years. Amazing, fresh and authentic every time, warm and comfortable setting, consistently amazing service, and fair prices. The muscles appetizer and the veal parmigiana main course are the best Ive ever had anywhere. A whole great selection of other dishes that everyone in our family craves.

Brought bread to the table that is stale and cold. And butter that was cold. Spreading cold butter on cold bread doesn t work. Not sure why not served nice warm rolls or warm bread. The food was okay. I had gamberoni linguini. The linguine was dry and overcooked. The shrimp and scallops were cooked nicely. Overall Wouldn t go back.

The server forgot our napkins and the kitchen forgot the salt. You can tell the food would be great if it had some salt.

The restaurant has such a nice ambiance and lovely atmosphere with the art and music there. The food is delicious and the service is outstanding! Its a local family run restaurant and the quality of their food is great. Its very clean and they follow covid rules. Well be returning for sure!

They have a very good summerlicious menu. It is a local gem! The food quality us great, portion is generous! Highly recommended this family tun restaurant, no need to go downtown! Their price u is reasonable ! Take my word as a foodie who travelled all around the world for great good!

Amazing, huge portions. A business run by a family. We and both kids were given a respectful, freindly attention.the wine recommendation was great too!

Stopped by for dinner for the first time. The food was delicious. Service was warm and welcoming, staff were attentive in making sure we had clean plates and proper cutlery for each course and dish (we were sharing). We ordered the seafood salad, beef carpaccio and their seafood paella. All dishes were flavourful and delicious, especially the latter two. It is nice to know that the restaurant is open to not only customizations (both in size-upsizing/downsizing- and in ingredients) but also to making off-menu surprise me dishes. The overall impression/ style of the restaurant is homey and comfortable. Staff were knowledgeable about the foods they offer as well as the food options/ alternatives available in the area, a true supporter of local businesses and the neighbourhood. I look forward to trying out the many other dishes they have to offer as well as their desserts! :) -------- Personal note for next time: -Portions are quite generous, consider downsizing paella to try out more dishes

The service and food is amazing here. I always make the mistake of filling up on their delicious bruschetta before my meal, but then I have leftovers. Save room for the tiramisu or youll be missing out!

Old world charm with plenty of personality. The mixed seafood grill is a favorite, especially the branzino and calamari. Have been enjoyng Gamberoni since the mid 90s, though not often enough.

We found this wonderful restaurant 30 years ago after moving to Toronto from NYC, and it has become the Go To choice for all casual and special occasion gatherings of friends and family. It is cozy and comfortable with friendly and attentive service. Here wonderful family style Italian food is abundant. Gamberoni ranks at the top of the list for fine Italian food and known for their fish dishes. No place better!

My go to for Italian in Toronto. Situated in a lovely neighbourhood. Food is fresh and authentic. Staff are lovely and nearly every thing on the menu is a spectacular dish. The inexpensive wine list is excellent and a great value.

Decent but nothing special.

Went there with my family , we enjoyed everything we ate and drink. I saw a couple of custumers being inpatient to order and rush as soon they were sat , lucky they were served fast and left, why go to a restaurant in a rush ? Do you enjoy eating in a hurry ? And it was the lady conpanion who rush the man to rush the order!! Shame on them!

This used to be my favourite restaurant in the neighbourhood until things started taking a definite downward spiral. I watched as slowly the quality and portions started to suffer. Then the greed started to take over the restaurant. I booked an event with a prepaid menu and the service was brutally slow for the food but the wine and drinks which were extra was being pushed on my party very hard. The straw that broke my back was the restaurant had no running water, so they offered me bottled water. At the end of my meal they charged me 8 dollars a bottle. At this point i had been going to Gamberoni at least once a month. When i complained the waiter was sympathetic but there was nothing he could do. This happened a couple of years ago but I suspect nothing has changed. Its unfortunate that i will never return to what was my favourite spot in area.

Very expensive and small portions, but the food was delicious. Very cosy feeling overall. Came here for a special birthday treat. Was nice and all, but probably wont come for anything else besides special occasions. I like the food and all, but cant justify spending so much on dinner.

On arriving for our reservation on time we told by the owner we would have to wait 45 minutes. The basis for the wait was the time at which we arranged our reservation earlier that same day. (???) After being seated the waiter/owner came around 15 minutes later to take our order. The evening continued to get worse. Were now 90 minutes in,our dinner arrives and one of us is presented with something that was never ordered. The owner rather than apologizing and returning with her correct dinner began a heated argument in the fully packed restaurant. Restaurants are in the hospitality industry. There is certainly no hospitality found here.

Went with my partner expecting quality food as per the cost. Both of us were extremely disappointed. Our meat and fish were definitely overcooked (you know that sticky feeling you get on your teeth when you chew something overcooked? It was that, and then some), the sauce was bland, and the spaghetti looked and tasted like it was microwaved. The waiters were nice, but it absolutely does not make up for the $50 on microwave-tier food.

Service was nice. But the food was terrible and expensive.

It was Saturday night, and I was looking for a quiet Italian place to eat. Upon entering Gamberoni, the family atmosphere instantly put me in a good mood, however that wouldnt last. After waiting more than 20 minutes in the isolated upstairs area, I was finally served a disappointing and bland meal. The soup was plain and the eggplant parmesan was cold and dry. The caprese salad was a pile of leaves with a few pieces of sad cheese. I finished my dinner unsatisfied and upset. The bill didnt help. The only thing this place has going for it is the friendly staff. Pass on this one.

Gamberoni s is the Right Choice in Toronto great Italian family owned restaurant relaxed, checkered red table cloths, small but amazing Italian dishes, but when it s good and well known locally, you may have wait, very good wine selection, wonderful atmosphere to enjoy a good Italian meal. Nick & Mike are great owners a favourite restaurant of the owners in Toronto Construction industry. I have been going at least 30 years it s been very very good therefore sometimes it s busy on special nights, holidays weekends, reasonably priced for Toronto Ask for it and it is made the way you want it! Just here Tuesday After Leafs 100th Anniversary game we enjoyed the Italian atmosphere enjoyed a bottle of wine, great meal. Excellent night! The negative write ups below, this isn t a fast food restaurant, it takes time and it s good, so Relax and Enjoy it s good so sometimes it s busy no one has patience or go another time because it s been around 30 years plus it s worth the wait! Everything about this place was mediocre. Over 90 dollars for two plates and 2 desserts, bland and uninspired tiramisu. Expect to be served by a surly man who takes forever to bother taking your order, followed by an hour waiting for your food.

Weve been going to Gamberoni for many years and still love it. Great home style Italian at great prices. My go to dish is their amazing Linguine Gamberoni (shrimp and scallops). Today we tried the seafood platter for two and we loved it. On top of the tasty food, the service is exceptional and very friendly.

Best old school Italian food in Toronto

My husband and I were introduced to Gamberonis by friends some time ago, and thoroughly enjoyed our delicious meals both then and on a recent date night. The service was wonderful (we were greeted by the owner on arrival), the meals beautifully prepared, and their Americano coffee divine. A restaurant with a charm all its own, transporting patrons to another place, another time. Loved it!

Found Gamberonis 27 years ago. Was shopping at the old Storkland store on Yonge St. pregnant with our first child and looking for a crib. Looked across the road and thought lets try that place for dinner. Well needless to say have never stopped going there. Food is amazing. One of people that posted here said waiters were rude. They are busy, straight forward. The owner is a lovely man. I myself personally dont like to be fawned over at restaurants. Mussels are famous here. Cheers

It is truly all about the food. The ambiance is tired and the place is small but the food simply cannot be beat it is excellent. Good value for a mid week meal.

We went to dinner tonight and the veal parmigiana was totally disgusting. It was old, stale, microwaved and no cheese. We told the owner to come over and we told him. He said nothing and walked away! The sauce tastes like it was out of a can. The Caesar salad was huge pieces of lettuce with no dressing on it. Terrible food and terrible service .The waiter kept pushing expensive vodka on us also. Over $100 for two people for absolute disgust STAY AWAY

We used to go to Gamberonis frequently knowing that we could rely on great Italian food but after our last meal there we will not return. It has gone downhill in a big way. Totally understaffed. The service was so slow and the waiter very rude. We had to leave our seats to get his attention. When my husband got up and asked politely for olive oil for his bread, the server got all steamed and defensive saying he was so busy and talk to my boss.We had a very lengthy wait for everything including needed cutlery. But most disappointing of all was the food quality. The caesar salad was tasteless, the veal chewy and the sauce also tasteless. Not the standard we had come to enjoy in years past.To top it off after the bill was paid at the table, the server walked off with the credit card and when called back for it, he made a sarcastic remark about how he was going to use it to spend all our money. Very disappointing.

The best family restaurant on Young str.

My husband, daughter and I decided on a nice Italian restaurant to celebrate our 20th anniversary. We chose Gamberoni because wed heard that the owner(s) were from Abruzzo, Italy. We have absolutely no complaints about the food. It wasnt great but it was average home-style Italian fare. However, the service was absolutely lousy. We were stuck with a waiter by the name of Raffaele, who probably shouldnt be in the food service industry as he demonstrated nothing short of hatred for his job; rolling eyes, huffs and puffs, etc. The couple next to us was paying for their meal and he was extremely rude to the young man for having made an error with the Interac machine. Raffaele , the waiter, had to start the whole process over again which took all of 2 seconds of his time. The young man apologized, even calling him sir and...nothing. There was no attempt at putting the customer at ease for his little error with the machine. Instead, he gave the impression it had ruined his evening. (It was barely 7:30 pm at this point.) Apparently, all the entrees come with a side of pasta (unheard of in Italy by the way) and veggies. When we asked if we could substitute the pasta for a salad he informed us that all they could do was to omit the pasta and not replace it with something else. If I can recall correctly his response to us was, ..it already comes with vegetables, why would I give you a salad?. This was especially disappointing since the website claims there is (almost) never a problem with special requests, and a salad is hardly a special request. The table was missing a napkin so we had to ask for one. When he returned with the napkin (10 minutes later) he offered no apology. We sat through our entire meal and not once did he return to the table to ask if everything was to our satisfaction. There was a group of about 10 people sitting across from us. Their orders were entirely screwed up, serving entrees to the wrong person etc. However, they seemed to have received a little more attention clearly because they were working on what must have been their 6th or 7th bottle of wine. To sum up this experience Id say that customer service is EVERYTHING. Despite the fact that my shrimp was neither cleaned nor deveined, the food was actually good. After paying the bill, I tried to focus on the food alone but I couldnt. I just cant get past the crappy service and the poor attitude. A chef can work all the magic in the world but its still the waiter that brings you your food and leaves a lasting impression. Raffaele, it may be time to leave this business.. My family and I will NOT be returning, unless we know for certain that it is your night off.

Really amazing food, reminded me of the food I had when I spent some time in the South of Italy. Ask for the fried fish platter, though you really cant go wrong with anything on the menu. The service is amazing - we had these two identical twins who were really attentive and pleasant. Would definitely return and recommend to friends.
