Cozy neighborhood resto, service like the owners have known you for years and its your 1st time here. Food was excellent, I had a bone-in chop.

If Nona didn t hand make this pasta, it must ve been a damn good chef!

An excellent, cozy, and intimate Italian restaurant where you feel at home. Pasta dishes are always delicious, and the menu changes, offering new flavors with the change of season!

Good food, wonderful service

This place is such a hidden gem, truly. Look at the [expensive] prices as a means to pay for the freshest and most quality ingredients, the delectable flavours, and the unwaveringly attentive service. If I could eat this every night I would; we live in the neighbourhood and Gio has become a highlight to see and chat with. His team seems small but mighty and his food is nothing short of impressive. It is the closest we have found to authentic after travelling through parts of Italy a while back. Bravo to this whole team and Gio for his ultimate charisma and dining experience!

The fish of the day was really good and my son who is a real foodie appreciated fried calamari big time! On a separate note, we tried two pizzas - both were excellent! Great service, all was quick and tasty. Oh, yes, baked peaches with burrata as appetiser - to die for...

best Italian pizza

Bland food. Bland decor. Average service. Had the Pizza Margherita ($17), and the panko-crusted Halibut ($48). Grilled octopus didnt really have a char or smell smokey. Caprese salad was good. The most flavorful thing was the free bread served. Next part added after the owner replied: The owner did ask how the food was but at what point do you accept that this is just how the food is. You cant magically change the flavour of the dish. There seems to be an aversion to using any kind of seasoning or spices to bring out the flavour. It was a friends birthday so we brought a cake, owner looked perplexed as to why/how we would bring a cake. Told us it would cost $5/person charge and I said it was fine. Then he said cake would melt, and I said it was fine. Then he brought out the cake at the end of the meal, and had to be asked to provide us with a knife and bowls/spoons to actually eat the cake. I get that maybe you want customers to eat your specific dessert but its not unheard of for people to bring birthday cake to a restaurant, and we agreed to pay as well. Owner treated us like lowbrow for having the audacity to bring cake, and has replied to this review saying that perhaps I need improvement in the restaurant world. My friend, please season your food and dont get worked up about someone bring cake from outside when they already paid $70-80/person plus $5/head charge. Your strange attitude, the lack of explanation of prices for your daily special dishes ($48 for bland halibut), and the miscalculation of the auto-gratuity (which I hadnt mentioned earlier) are the reason for the service being 3 stars. (the review was originally 3 stars but its been changed due to the owners petty attitude)

Wonderful restaurant. Great ambience. Food is delicious. Staff polite and attentive including Giovanni who is a professional at everything he does. Highly recommend this restaurant.

What an amazing experience. The seafood mussels were amazing (yummy). I feel a little bad that I didnt take a picture before eating them The service is amazing. The location is really nice and clean. Perfect for a romantic dinner or a friends get together.

Vegetarian options: Cross Contamination extremely likely. Ordered vegetarian caprese salad, spent a couple of minutes explaining to the staff that I dont want parmesan because it is made of rennet but the salad came cross contaminated or the sauce used was not vegetarian friendly. It would have been nice if I would have been informed that it is not vegetarian friendly. Dietary restrictions: Not recommended if you are very particular with vegetarian food Parking: Paid parking, though free after 9PM

Attentive and friendly service, and fantastic food! My husband and I got the fritto misto and bufala caprese to start - soooo good and highly recommend! Best calamari Ive had in a long time (and I have calamari in every restaurant I go to). For our mains we both got the lamb - again it was out of this world! We both got delicious cappuccinos and pana cotta (my fave) for dessert! Padella is a neighborhood gem that my husband and I will be going back to with other family members :)

Great place to eat ...

After reading the reviews I was looking forward to be blown away as I always find it hard to find a great Italian restaurant. I made reservations and upon coming into the restaurant there was no host in sight. We waited for about 5 minutes before being seated. The place is small and it was very packed. Took at least 10-15 minutes to finally order. I ll be honest the service could have been better. They seemed understaffed for a Saturday night. We finally place our order and we tried the Octopus, grilled sardines and fettuccine de mari. They do bring some Flavia beans and garlic bread. Bread did not seem fresh and it was very salty. The octopus was very undercooked and chewy. It was hard to swallow. It was nothing special, it was basically white beans with some onion and parsley with olive oil and red wine vinegar. Basic dressing. I have had better elsewhere. Again, Sardines were nothing special either. It was just grilled, with wedges of lemon no seasoning whatsoever. And for the main dish, pasta de mari. Sauce was good but definitely not fresh. Too much sugar I would have liked some type of fresh cherry tomatoes to give it a nice acidic taste to balance the sweetness of the sauce. It wasn t bad but definitely something I can make better at home. The staff could be a bit more attentive and would have liked to see more Italian culture in the atmosphere. Overall it was OK. I have had better Italian elsewhere so with that being said I don t think I ll be going back.

Consistently Excellent. We live nearby and have eaten at Padella a number of times. Always excellent. The food is always fresh and well prepared. I highly recommend the sardines or the mussels as appetizers. The calamari is also excellent. The pasta is always cooked to perfection. The spaghetti carbonara is a favourite. The veal limone is also superb. They usually have 3-4 specials that are worth trying. The wine list is quite good and reasonably priced. Have the tiramisu for dessert. Service is prompt and attentive. Probably the best Italian restaurant in the north Toronto area. The owner is normally on site and very engaging.

We often walk in as we live in the neighborhood and Padella NEVER disappoints. Today, the focaccia appetizer was great (again) , and my veal pizzaiolo was incredible! My husband had the spaghetti carbonara and it was delicious. Everyone is so friendly and always go out of their way to make us welcome. Padella is what makes our neighborhood (Avenue & Lawrence) such a great place!!

This place is perfect for a dinner on any occasion and even when you just craving for some yummy Italian food, with a perfect atmosphere feeling the warmth of the staff. The salads are fresh and soup is really good. The pasta is really well made and tastes wow with the pizza baked to perfection the cherry on the top is there to die for Tiramisu I visited this place last evening with my friends and we had a great time it s kids friendly too. Thanks a ton to everyone at Padella for an awesome dinner! We will visit soon. Vegetarian options: The restaurant is kind enough to give you options of customisation and that makes choosing easier for only vegetarian people we could add and remove anything to the pizza and pasta thanks!!! Kid-friendliness: The staff was good with my little 2.5 year old and he enjoyed the meal equally as us he loved the pasta there.

The owner and staff are incredibly nice. You can tell everyone cares a lot and puts in a lot of hard work. The food was amazing. Perfectly cooked and came out fairly fast despite the dinner rush. Worth all the praise it s received and the price.

I am very picky when it comes to Italian restaurants and I absolutely love padella! Its authentic, delicious and Giovanni is so attentive to any special requests. The fresh pasta is delicious and the complimentary rosemary bread is a lovely touch. Will definitely go back!

Fabulous meal and wonderful atmosphere

Very good classic italian food with outstanding service.

Nothing terribly special about this place. Food was adequately Italian ie simple and wholesome but without the ingredients to excite. Service was done by a multitude of wait staff only to be told off by the waiter who took our order and service was a chaotic potpourri. The atmosphere was pleasant enough but given it was Valentines day, you would expect it to busy but throughout the evening a good 25% of tables remained empty and idle and yet staff turned away customers who did not have a reservation. Of course, this benefited us to have more space in an otherwise congested space but it was odd. All in a lack of creativity shown on one of their busiest times of the year aided by the fact one of their primary ovens broke down. They suffered bad luck which is why I awarded them an extra star. Dietary restrictions: No accommodation nor asking about allergies. Kid-friendliness: Nothing is available.

Unfortunately the portion of fish with veggies was too little and the food had a poor taste. Although the appetizer smoked salmon cream tart was amazing!

Visited Padella on Sunday the 30th of April for a family dinner and we had an amazing grilled calamari, a cooked octopus, an excellent Al denté fettuccini bolognaise & and a yammi specialty of the day Spaghetti with lobster. Finally we had an unforgettable Tiramisu. We were Served by Giovanni who is simply excellent, helpful, welcoming & very knowledgeable and we enjoyed our experience very much. Looking forward to come again

4 doors away from the awful Francobollo, this one is a gem. Carbonera (pictured) is made the traditional way without cream. It is very peppery (which I like but some wont). The owner is extremely nice and hospitable and the service is great. I d almost drop a star for pretty abrasive service from the older male server, but he gets the job done. Can be nicer though. Cesar salad is divine. Very light and crisp. Lima beans are a nice touch. Mussels order is large and well priced. I don t typically enjoy Italian desserts but the lava cake is a winner. They would benefit from a larger location as it is always packed.

Absolutely amazing food and great service too. The server was super friendly, helpful and order came out in decent time. Loved the food and father-in-law who my partner says is hard to please when eating out enjoyed the food. Definitely will come back when in the area.

Good and friendly service, the owner are always checking on the experience of the customers, the flavor and how they feel, making me feel like home. Our waiter was really nice and gave plenty recomendations. We really enjoyed our dinner and cocktails! We ordered the Fritto, spaghetti carbonara, bolognese penne, ace beer ( soooo good) and a cosmopolitan and let me tell you it was on point.

Best spot for Italian food in the area. We had a large reservation for a birthday event, staff was incredibly hospitable and made our party feel like home. Food was exquisite. Great experience, well definitely return. Green P parking lot is available just around the corner and usually has spots.

They booked us for 9 people for same day and it was in a comfortable seating area. The only things I have to say: deserts where amazing in taste but shape and serving was weird . I was a solo diner on a nice summer evening, and sat on the patio. The service was friendly and detail-oriented, and the food was simple but spectacular. I had grilled sardines to start, followed by spaghetti puttanesca and it was the perfect summer meal. Prices were more than fair. Padella is a gem and I recommend it to anyone.

The food and service were fantastic. The waitress took good care of us, which unfortunately is kind of a rare experience being a queer couple. The owner took the time to seat and take a minute to interact with us(and other guests) which was a nice touch too. I hope to come back soon but Im a ttc driver who ended up on avenue road many times this year and am trying to make a point to try out all these fantastic restaurants on the strip between Lawrence and Wilson Ps, the tiramisu tastes just like my Nonnas!

Risotto and gnocchi were amazing, and highly recommended. The peach risotto was surprisingly a great mix! Gnocchi was done very well, I find many low quality gnocchi to be way too chewey, but this wasnt the case at all. However, the chicken supreme was a bit disappointing. A bit dry, a bit of an unpleasant after taste, the potatoes felt like they had been sitting out too long, and marinated too long in a salty brine. Veggies felt a bit overdone and unimpressive as well. Still this didnt diminish how great our entrees were! I would still recommend this place, and chalk up the chicken to a fluke.

We were in the neighborhood for work and went to this place for dinner , food was very fresh ( I had Branzino) and dessert was delicious, we left the resturant not feeling heavy as food was light and fresh. We will go back to try their pizza as they looked really good

The food was amazing. We ordered grilled calamari, linguine de mare and the rack of lamb. I personally like the tomato sauce for the grilled calamari, it tasted great with the calamari and it was appetizing. The linguine was on average, it was what it was. The most surprising was the lamb! The texture was very tender and it didn t have a strong gamey taste which suites my preference. I was too full to order dessert, but I m planning to order the lava cake or tiramisu next time when I visit again. Staff are nice and the service was great too as they always checked on us to make sure everything was ok. Worth to pay for the service fee:)

My wife, I and my sister attended November11th. Shawn, the owner served us. My main pasta course was terrible. So salty, it was impossible to eat. Shawn was told and he was not happy. Gave me a nasty look, took away the food and said, Ill fix it. Never asked, Would you like something else? The plate came back, and tasted the same. So salty, I said, I cant eat it. Shawn gave me another nasty look, then offered another meal. It was better. My wife left her pasta meal mostly untouched. We ordered a vanilla cheese cake. It looked old and dried. We ate only half of it and I like cheese cakes. Highly unimpressed with the service, and food. Save your money and go to a better restaurant with nicer staff.

Growing up in an Italian family with great cooks at home, I can truly say La Paddella has tasty Authentic Italian food. Reminds me of the Italian Restaurants in Italy. Service was fantastic and staff was very friendly. Food : 5/5

Many thanks to Giovanni and his team for the lovely dinner! The complimentary beans were surprisingly delicious considering the simplicity, and I heartfully enjoyed the potato broccoli soup. The gluten-free pasta was lacking for my taste (perhaps more tomato sauce would have helped), so I opted to enhance it with additional seasonings and vegan parmesan cheese to cut the dryness, but I understand plant-based food is not yet on the restaurants menu, and it was still made with special care and attention. Lastly, my husband wouldnt change anything about his order; he thoroughly enjoyed the classic Italian vibe in his Margherita pizza and fresh ricotta gnocchi. Thank you again for your accommodation and hospitality; we appreciate it very much!

Foods here are authentic Italian. I really enjoyed the food and service. The owner Mr Jovani is so friendly. We got Fritto Misto fried calamari, shrimp and sardin as an appetizer, Spaghetti carbonara and Linguine De mare. Beans and garlic bread was complimentary.

Disaster dine in experience. Pasta was awful. Nobody goes out for dinner to get lectured or listen to racist comments. Customer choose you not the other way around.

Fantastic service and food in a comfortable environment. My fiancé and I have been here a couple times now and have loved it. The family restaurant feel is very inviting and we love the food. The rosemary bread to start is a nice touch that most restaurants wouldnt do anymore. Great mussels and octopus as well as pizzas. Looking forward to going again.

The best authentic Italian dishes and dessert (Tiramisu) that I ever have in my entire life. The server are very friendly plus patiently even we arrived late without reservation and they are willing to take us in. We arrived late around 7PM, our plates served within an hour and stayed passed 10PM. They offered appetizer even we didn t order. Patience is worthwhile because they made homemade cooking which is healthier and not just frozen from microwave or over-heated up. Highly recommended this place. Excellent service and hospitality. The chef will chat with you and get to know you plus even escort you out. Sweet parting. My friend and I will love to come back again.

We came across this restaurant coincidentally, and it was the best last minute decision we ve made. We were able to taste some of the best Italian food we ve ever had, and were treated like family the entire time. Heavily recommend the capricciosa, linguini de mare, fritto misto, and their delicious tiramisu. Portions were great and worth every penny. An incredible experience that I recommend to everyone who loves pasta and pizza.

Owner and staff were super accommodating. The food was delicious. We ordered the catch of the day, the risotto and a cheese plater. All the ingredients were fresh and the bread tasted like it was made in house. Its really classy place for a chill date night.

We have been here multiple times over the last few years! Best Italian restaurant in town and the service and food is always impeccable We look forward to coming again

Went here for a family dinner and the service that we got from our server (middle age/ grey hair/ wearing glasses) was incredibly bad. Every other servers and the owner himself was super nice to us, but our server was rushing us ever since we set down. He was walking away while we haven t done ordering/ tried to take away our appetizers when there is still food on the plate without even asking us/ when asking if we need black pepper for our mains we said multiple times yes and he just can t seem to hear us, even another server came and told him they said yes and he proceed to put pepper on all the dishes in a very rushed way without asking which ones we want it for etc. Also, we ordered one lamb and one steak both medium rare, our server even confirmed it, but when it came one was well done and one was almost raw (which is fine) but when we asked if he can maybe heat up the almost raw one alittle more for us he asked us in a very rude way to put the meat in a small plate ourself and leave the veggies behind with us. We were very excited to eat here considering all the good reviews here but honestly that server ruined our dinner and we do think he has a lot to improve on if that s how he s doing his job.

I loved the food. We ordered the linguine di mare and bosco pizza. The tiramisu was home made and was delicious, one of the best ones i had here in Toronto. Giovanni is the owner of the place and he was very welcoming. Overall it was 5/5 experience. Definitely will go there again. Highly recommend it and the customer service was excellent as well.

The owner Giovanni takes pride of his place and for a good reason. Home made sauce in pasta and pizza makes a difference. Flavours wise all very good, maybe a bit of salt was missing but that s being fussy. Tried carpaccio - excellent quality but a little small portion even for a starter imho. Seafood pasta is excellent quality. Thin dough Pizza with prosciutto is really good. Desserts tiramisu and panna cotta are home made and great flavours. Finally normal ristretto espresso served from Sicilian coffee beans. Place is clean and restrooms are spotless. Service is kind and welcoming. Cost is ~$120 for two which is reasonable.

This is our favourite neighbourhood Italian place. Owners are friendly - ambiance lovely, food is delicious and authentic we love this place and eat there as often as possible. We also host dinner parties there, family celebrations or just a quiet night out. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free pasta is simply delicious ! Once again Giovani is always amazing! Great food and amazing service. The food gets better every time. Giovani made a special squid ink pasta for us and it was amazing. Everything is great!

Overall the food is good and the restaurant has a great cozy atmosphere. Depending on what sauce comes with your pasta it starts off amazing but then there is an after taste that you feel you had too much of. If you want to avoid that share your plates.

My father and I came in here for lunch on Saturday and had the most amazing authentic Italian food. The fresh pasta was to die for. We both had the carbonara and a desert and could not have been more impressed. The owner was our server and just a master host I cant wait to return with my fiance.

For authentic Italian cuisine in North Toronto, look no further. We came in last weekend to a beautiful aesthetic, warm greetings from the owner, and absolutely delicious pizzas, mussels, and salmon! Unbeatable! Thank you for making us feel like were home eating a fancy meal! Loved the sense of humour from the owner too, very cozy, romantic, and family setting!

Service was ok. Food(pasta dishes) was not very good. A little disappointed that they charged for an additional bread basket. I find that to be a little bit on the cheap side. Owner(I think it was the owner) came out to greet us and that was very good. Decor could use a bit of an update. This was my first time there, but I would probably go back to see if it was just an off night.

Small serving sizes, felt rushed to leave the entire time my group was eating, we had plates taken off the table with food still on it. Food was tasty but very small serving size for the price

Considered this place for take out- the owner answered our call and took care of us. We ordered an assortment of appetizers + mains. Everything came out hot and well packed. The pizza s were hot and fresh , prosciutto + mushrooms was delicious! Thanks

Perhaps this was once a good eatery based on other reviews we saw here but Im afraid we did not have the same experience. Paid a lot of money for old stale seafood pasta and a mac and cheese that didnt have macaroni or cheese. In fact we paid $12 extra for chicken on the Mac and Cheese and got something that resembled costco frozen grilled chicken. Owner was nice enough to cover our next meal if we ever chose to come back there.

We had a great time celebrating a friends birthday here. We sat on the patio which is on the small side but felt very quaint. The service was fast efficient and our server was very personable! The food was good, including their seafood linguini. We would definitely go back.

Had a really great experience here. Italian restaurants Im always reluctant about because much Italian fare can be made at home with a little planning and practice. But with the intimate space and convenient location were impossible to pass up. My GF and I both enjoy seafood pastas, with mine being a special and hers being a regular menu item, linguine de mare. We also got a charcuterie board which was delicious. The wine selection was good as well. The owner was friendly and had a great sense of humour, and our server was extremely thorough and friendly. Really enjoyed it, and will surely be back to try additional items. Highly recommended.

I love this cute Italian spot. The Linguine Di Mare is particularly delicious. Giovanni is really kind and was very accommodating even during COVID restrictions.

Great find on a busy street. Authentic Italian with an affordable wine list and excellent variety of specials. A dinner for 6 with predinner drinks, sides, mains, two bottles of wine, coffee and dessert came in for under 100 per person.

Amazing Italian Restaurant.

First class customer service and the food was amazing. It was my first time ordering and Giovanni was so pleasant taking my order over the phone as well as coordinating curb side pick up. I would highly recommend as the food was by far fresh and flavourful. Looking forward to my next order.

A group of 3 of us ate here last Monday night. We chose this restaurant based on proximity to our location and all of the great reviews - they were not wrong. The service was very friendly, welcoming and attentive and we all really loved the food. We had a shrimp appetizer as well as the bufala caprese to start. Our mains were spaghetti carbonara, fresh ricotta gnocchi and baked mac and cheese. We shared a bottle of prosecco which was very reasonably priced. I cant wait to try this place again and more of the items on the menu. A new favourite for sure.

I was here for a bday lunch small establishment but I tell you they serve amazing Italian food because it is real authentic . Pretty good wine selection .. this establishment it is personal hard to explain until you order and receive authentic Italian.

Some of the best Italian food Ive ever had; you can tell the pasta and the sauce are made fresh. The service is quick and they treat you like family. I will certainly be back.
