2622 Yonge St, Toronto, ON M4P 2J4, Canada
Established, family-run eatery with a rotating roster of Italian classics & pizza nights.
Had the pleasure of hosting my daughters baby shower at Roberto's. Food was delicious, service amazing! Frank Garguilo was very professional in ensuring every detail was seen too. Family is still euphoric from the afternoon. Thank you Frank! 5 stars!
My family has been going to Roberto’s for over 30 years. The food is always fantastic, the penne bolognese is the best I’ve ever tasted. Staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. Very cozy, home cooked feel. And those breadsticks!!!
This was my third time at Roberto’s, and I brought friends from Toronto and the U.S. who were craving Italian food. Everyone was thoroughly impressed! The atmosphere felt like a true Italian experience, and the food was outstanding. The portions were generous, and we left with a few take-home boxes. A special shout-out to Franco, who made us feel like family with his warm hospitality. We’ll definitely be back! Highly recommend, especially if you get a chance to try the parmigiana!
I have been going to Roberto's for 30+ years. It's always been our favourite Italian restaurant. It has a neighborhood vibe and food is excellent.
Worth the price. Delicious and a good amount of food. I’ve had the veal crema a couple times, including both dine-in and take out. The others with me had the veal limona. We all enjoyed our meal. We went early in the evening so the restaurant wasn’t very busy.
Food was quite tasty. Dining space was comfortable. 🔔 Service needs improvement. - asked for NO MEAT and the pasta came with meat. - inconsistent service. 3-4 staff come to you separately within the first 5 mins of being seated but none seem to talk to each other that we needed more time with the menu (for crying out loud, let patrons catch up a little first!). When we were ready to order, they seemed to ignore us and we really have to track them down to place an order (despite the staff walking by the table multiple times and we still had menu on the table). Very few vegetarian options for main course
Roberto’s is my go-to restaurant for Italian food in midtown. Perfect for a date night, catch up with friends or dinner with family. Food tastes very authentic and servers are always welcoming and helpful. Calamari & complimentary bread are especially incredible. Highly recommend.
First what I need to say about my experience at this restaurant - everything was perfect! Food was amazing! Service was great! Atmosphere was excellent! I can speak a lot about food and how full and satisfied we went out, but I will be short, I will just say that you definitely need to go to Roberto’s Ristorante if you want to taste the real Italian food! Like I said, our dinner was perfect!
real Italian cuisine
This was a great place for an impromptu date night, with great service and food
Have been twice and both times the food was disappointing. I think the Pasta is from a package. Service is pleasant and quick however.
What a disappointment. Lovely restaurant but felt like i was at a fast food location. Food was good not great. The young women serving were rushing us to order and eat. 4 people on a Saturday night in a cute little restaurant that had plenty of seating available after our 7:30 reservation (i personally called to confirm when they did not). It was an awful experience and i don t recommend it to anyone. They need to read the room and the lack of experience on the service showed.
A fair warning if this is your first time visting. This place is good if you are looking for a quick bite. NOT A PLACE TO GO IF YOU WANT TO EAT RELAXED. I was a little disappointed with the service. We were rushed the entire time. I came from up north to celebrate my birthday. Took me longer to get to the location than I spent trying to enjoy my dinner. Before covid my family and I used to go all the time until we moved north. Was really looking forward to eating here since we could not visit on account of how far we lived. I have been working in the restaurant business for 22 years and this was the first time I have seen an owner watch their staff clear plates while they were still eating, not opening wine bottles that were ordered at the table, clearing bottles of water with water in so we can order another, bringing dessert out while our table was still eating, trying to take our wine bottle with wine still in it. Good for a very quick bite and out. Would have liked to order cocktails in the beginning and had wine with our meals. I did not enjoy my night at all if i would have known that they would close before the posted time i would not have choosen to celebrate at another establishment. It has become very canadianized, italian culture is to enjoy your food not have a 3 course meal in an hour. Unfortunately i will not be returning due to how they manage their restaurant, it is unfortunate but i am the type of person who likes to enjoy my meal. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous. Just keep in mind if you plan on visiting unless you are a friend or family you will be rushed out.
The absolute worst restaurant experience in Toronto. Period. Terrible service, food, wine options, and atmosphere. I wasn t expecting much to begin with but this was next level bad. Never eat here.
Authentic italian food!
The worst Italian food in the city. They served seafood pasta with mussels that had freezer burns, it was inedible. Food was tasteless too. Will never be coming back.
Great Italian food! They do not disappoint
Great Italian food and a great atmosphere.
This is the best Italian family restaurant in the GTA. In addition to the options on the menu, be sure to ask about specials. Just the best Osso buco! Smoked Salmon pasta is another favourite special! Great food, great service!
Great food great service
We have been twice to this place I enjoyed the veal parmesan both times. I know Italian restaurants are pasta friendly but I think they should expand their menu a little bit. The decor is very nice I like the art. I will be going back
The worst pizza we ever been served at any restaurant. We left all the food in the plates. We brought our disappointment to the chefs attention. He was unapologetic, and also had the audacity to ask if want to take the pizzas home. Well never put our feet in that place again!
For over 30 years my go to Italian rest.Family run ,friendly really good food.Sea Bass is my favorite .Dec 23 2023
Not a very pleasant dinner experience, right after we pay the bill, the waiter and waitress forced me and my friend to live their restaurant by turn off the light above our table (even there still one hour away from their closing time! ). In addition, the price is unreasonably high regards to the quality of their meal, like $60 for a regular spaghetti!!!
they turned off the light at exactly 9:00pm when we were eating the meal horrible service. and also the lobster in spaghetti is so little like a shrimp
Went for our anniversary and loved the food and service!
This place is a gem! Authentic, amazing quality and amazing service.
We absolutely LOVE Roberto s! The food is absolutely delicious. Frank, Marissa and the whole team treat us like family. It s been our GO TO spot for over 40 years. Thank you!!
One of the best Italian Restaurant in Toronto. Frank is an amazing cook and very friendly and attentive. A special place in the middle of TO. Feel free to ask the chef what is the special especially if it is flown from abroad.
Came to dinner with my sisters and nieces. It was a very friendly, warm, and family oriented environment. The Owner Roberto was so kind and made our experience wonderful.. and the server went above and beyond our expectations. She was patient, kind, and insightful. The food and dessert was also amazing. We had Pasta and the Brownie. The pasta was something I will be returning back for! The brownie was so fresh! it melted in the mouth. This restaurant was above my expectations. Thank you for an incredible experience! I will be returning :)
If yourre looking for Italian you gotta eat here. The pasta, the salads, the pizza, the apps... its all good. Perfection!
There is not a finer dining experience. The authentic Italian cuisine is superb. I have been going over 35 years and never disappointed. Marisa and Frank ensure the very best ingredients are used no compromises!
Lovely place family atmosphere and food was delicious !!! I heard Enrico talking about Robertos on Chin radio glad that we came !
finally! a TRUE NEAPOLITAN restaurant! THE BEST!
Havent been in since covid. Good food. Wish it was open at 4pm instead of 6pm.
If I could give this place a -Zero I would! This is NOT authentic Italian food! The squash soup was so full of MSG, it tasted like soup out of a tin! I simply could not eat it! The main dishes were not hot, pasta was like sludge, and the sauce didn t hit the mediocre point on the dial! Service was lacking-the staff hung out at the back bar chatting snd on their phones This establishment has changed hands from the the long standing Italian family run business to less desirable owners A complete waste of money!
We came here after we just arrived from France, it was such a delightful meal after 15h of travel! The staff was super nice as well and the pizza were huge! I recommend taking the one with peperoni and shrooms :9 Ill just say the cheese was lacking flavour, but it was decent knowing the location
Local Italian eatery, fresh simple italian dishes. Great taste, fresh ingredients and friendly service.
Hands down one of the best Italian restaurants in the city! I highly recommend. Food
Lovely every time. Great food, friendly and professional service. Garlic bread is a personal favorite of mine.
I only discovered Robertos this year. I can tell you that most Italians are disappointed when they eat at an Italian restaurant. They are compared to Nonnas and Mommas cooking, and we all know that nothing compares to that. Oh but wait. The chef looks nothing like Nonna or Momma, but his cooking is as close as you can get. Thank you Frank for bringing back great memories with every meal. Merry Christmas to all.
Ate there last night after being away for 2 years. Very consistent and good. I had the minestrone soup, garden salad, calamari and the seafood pasta. All very good and given the amount of food I ate I didnt feel that I overate. But the portions are pretty big and the price makes it good value. The buns are nice and warm with a butter type glaze. Didnt have dessert but a cappuccino since we were all very full and satisfied. The owner is very friendly and knows her regulars well. The service was polite, friendly and attentive. Nice cozy neighborhood feel, not pretentious.
Food is always fantastic. Great staff and cozy atmosphere
Cozy and family friendly place. A bit dirty. Great food. The owners are funny and welcoming. There s this one particular server with a thick Russian accent who made us uncomfortable. Very loud and pushy. Would come back when she s not working.
Spaghetti overcooked...not to say super overcooked...and for an Italian this is a SERIOUS MISTAKE.
The best Italian dishes Ive had in a very long time! The owners and staff are extremely helpful, amazing and very friendly. If youre looking for great Italian food, with a nice relaxed ambiance, Robertos is definitely the place to eat!
Amazing Italian resturaunt, I cannot reccomend enough. Everyone should try.
Same quality maintained! Excellent services and delicious food as always.
Worst italian restaurant..food tasteless , the pasta sauce tasted like water, pasta served with sheapeast bread..it was cold poor of chiken..terrible experiencie
Very strange place. Staff and owners do not make their guests feel welcome AT ALL. I would never go back.
My first one star review. We wanted to go here for dessert with my family. Just a piece of cake and a coffee. It was around 9 pm so I called beforehand, to ask if we could come by for that, they said yes and arrived 5 minutes later. We were seated and the order taken. The staff seemed a bit annoyed with us and the owner or chef was walking about sounding off about something. But long story short after sitting there for 10 minutes they came and told us they wouldnt do dessert. What a waste of my time! People were still eating and we only wanted something simple. Definitely wont go back.
Old school Italian. Comfort food in an unpretentious setting. The staff was nice and responsive. Foodies will be disappointed but my penne was tasty and filling.
Well do u want to eat or do u want to laugh both amazing Frank Marisa and the staff assume will always go back thanku
WOW the Spaghettata alla POSITANO is to die for...and the calamari reminds me of how they do it back home,,,,finally a Real NAPOLITANO cooking in the back! BRAVO FRANCESCO! I wish there were more chefs like this in the city
Food is amazing well priced and staff and owners are very nice. Its a must try italian family restaurant.
Family friendly and amazing service. My soup was abit cold
A mid-town Italian food delight. Very friendly staff, great food, and a good atmosphere.
Waiting 45 min for bread to come out (still hasnt come out). We couldnt even eat here......because no food arrived. I just paid and asked them to pack up the food as I had my baby and toddler with me and they were starving. Literally asked them 4x for an update on bread. Highly do not recommend.
Great food and service
Excellent fresh Italian food. Friendly and attentive service. Reasonable prices. What more can you say?
Steak was mostly fat, not worth $55, fish wasnt very good, salad for 2 didnt taste as great as in previous years. Way overpriced.
Rude lady on the phone taking orders, what despicable service, food not worth the verbal abuse
Best neighborhood Italian gem ~family owned~the history speaks for itself.
So grateful this establishment weathered the pandemic. Went for a lovely mid-week dinner and it was absolutely amazing! Had the salad, ravioli (the chefs tomato sauce is perfection - truly authentic, simple, and FULL of flavour), and a cappuccino (espresso lovers, this is a winner). You wont regret a meal here. See you next week :)
Authentic Italian food, you wont be disappointed!!
Excellent food
We had pizza and pasta. I was disappointed with the pizza because it made me think of an American style pizza with a lot of mozzarella and a thicker crust. The highlight of the meal was the bread. Tasted amazing.
Amazingly delicious!!!! Marisa and her family + staff are nothing short of exceptional. My fiance took me here for my birthday dinner and the food was soooo tasty it made me feel like I was in Italy . Great service and I would gladly recommend this place over and over. Cant wait to be back!
Always fantastic. Highly highly recommend
i have eaten there more than a few times and it just keep gerting better. great food and great servixe. owner Marisa is amazing very funny and friendly. luv luv the bread
Amazing food and great service!!
Five stars
They are as spectacular as usual, even during the Covid. Thanks for bringing joy and festivity to our table:)
Great atmosphere and food. Were here at least once a month and love it. You wont be disappointed.
I could eat here every day.
Great food
Lobster au gratin is sensational
Amazing food
Great
Favorite Go To Place! Never disappoints. Great service and food.
Great food, loved the place. But felt like the waitress was hurrying us
Great food thats family run
Great food great people what more you need
A very good italian restaunt. Prices are ok, and the service is good. There is a familiar atmosphere. The wines are very good. I tried some ravioli and they were nice and tasty. I didnt understand the rughetta on the top, but it is a way to serve this italian famous dish. I suggest to go and try this couisine.
Horrible staff and the food isnt even worth the money this restaurant gives yonge street a bad name
Spectacular authentic Italian. Highly recommended.
Another neighborhood favorite and been around for many years. This tiny restaurant has great Italian food. Had the shrimp diablo. Highly recommended. Garlic bread is also addictive. Its first come, first serve so come early or take chances. They do not take reservations. Its a great place to eat.
Great neighborhood place. Fantastic food and service. A favorite by locals.
Fanrastic food and service!!!
The place is simple but cozy, the food was really tasty. Our review was five stars before have paid the bill.... so, the waitress gives me the bill and I take my card to pay, at once the waitress asks me which kind of card is it. I answer, Debit Card. She said for this time we will accept debit card, but for the next time you have to make sure bring credit card or cash to pay the bill. That was so discourteous, although at the entrance there are some advises including allow payment by Interac/Debit Card. Sorry, but tonight you have lost some guests.
Family business with kind and affectionate owners, food close to Italian traditions for those who want to eat something different from American food and a must-see
They can not handle if they are busy. Owner and waitress are very rude. Not good service and not very cozy environment. They serve sometimes good food , sometimes very bad food. Owner never listen clients complaint.
Best Authentic Italian Food in the city! Xo
Love this place but they close way too early for a night out. Great food though.
Food is fine but pricey for a place that has seen better days
Favorite place for yummy Italian food.
Pasquale is a must! Great olive, great pizza, great wine! Book in advance.
Worth the walk or drive to Robertos. Friendly attentive service like family. Theyll have your favorite dish & add a new must try! Good wines, one of favourite served hot cappucinos. Warm bread, house salad for two & rigatoni. #noMenuRequired
Our favorite neighborhood Italian restaurant.
Excellent Italian food and service.
The service was wonderful but the food was absolutely out of this world. A must.......
Great pasta and calamari. Not a bad thing on the menu. Friendly staff.
Outside of Italy this is the best Italian restaurant there is. Simple and without pretense this place is incredible. Do yourself a favour and visit this wonderful restaurant.
Excellent Italian family restaurant with great home cooked meals
Home style Italian restaurant, with dishes a random Italian neighbour might serve you, if they were a Nona of 60 years. Fantastic large slices of parmigiano reggiano on the beef carpaccio. A simple take on a caprese salad, and the ravioli tasted almost identical to a old lady I mightve met in my youth. The sauce is no where near as good as Nonas, but still passable. And the snapper was lovely. The menu is one large chalk board that gets moved around the restaurant. This feels like an authentic, home style Italian place with a series of classic dishes that will appease your typical Italian, and keep your dates happy. Not too sure about the cannolis, but my standards are a bit high in that area.
My favourite place in toronto
Fantastic authentic home made Italian dinner. The service is amaing and we feel like we are treated as part of the Roberto family. One of Torontos best restaurants.
Yummy
Great Italian food every time.
Great food but can be very slow if too many people.
Great food.
Had a reservation for 6 for my daughters birthday. Door was locked when we arrived. Hostess eventually came and unlocked the door and then walked away. Did not hold door for us. Just watched as we struggled to get in with our young children, stroller and grandparent. Hostess was then extremely rude. Just kept barking at me and my children how many people. We left and held the birthday elsewhere because the hostess was so rude. We have eaten there many times but will never go back as a result of this.
Wonderful veal piccato. Great service
Great food and friendly ambience.
Not bad, a bit cold near the window.
Hands down the best family owned Italian restaurant in the GTA. With over 40 years of tradition, their food will never disappoint !
Great experience! The food is outstanding and reasonably priced for being authentically Italian. The service is excellent and friendly. If you want munja cake Italian food try the Olive Garden, if you want real Italian food, you gotta try this place.
Best restaurant in Toronto.
Robertos is our go to neighbourhood restaurant for family dinners. I love the Spaghetti Positano, the Robertos salad along with the garlic bread sticks. We always order a bottle of Barollo which is reasonably priced. The other menu options are really good.
Best Southern Italian food hands down
I love this place! Truly the best Italian in midtown, for the client that appreciates good food.
On Tuesday and Wednesday they have pizza which is pretty good. It was a little expensive for what you get, but its no different than any other Italian Restaurant that serves italian-style pizzas. They dont have a huge selection of pizzas and their toppings are a little limited. Their pastas are really good as well.
I was last night to this reataurant with my family and we really had a great time. The food was very delicious and service excellent. I look forward to go this weekend there. The waitres Marisa was very kind.
I ate here on Tuesday which is one of their two pizza nights (the other being Wednesday) and enjoyed the Italian sausage pizza. It was tasty, but a little expensive for how little meat was on it. I will definitely be back to try out their regular menu.
I do not know what other people think about Roberto as a person, but I find him pretty rude, abrupt and not very neighborly guy. I would never dine at places like this, ever!!!
This is a great family restaurant with always good food. I have been coming here every week for a few years. They have never given me a less that great meal. Marissa and Frank (husband and wife) run the business. Frank cooks and Marissa runs the front. For those who have never been there before you will really enjoy
