Really great food, nice atmosphere, support staff for table was lovely and attentive, main blonde waitress was hostile and rude, really killed the vibe. Wouldn t book an event here again unfortunately due to service and attitude

The food was decent, but it didn t leave a lasting impression. The atmosphere was fantastic ideal for hanging out and enjoying drinks with friends. If you re looking for a great spot to relax and socialize, this place definitely delivers in that regard.

Salt bomb on the lamb.... extremely disappointed as it was almost inedible. Arrived at 7pm and mains didnt served till 845.

I was here today for work event. I have to say the blonde waitress who served our table was full of attitude and lacked customer service skills. She pushed our chairs saying we are in her way, when our colleague asked her for extra napkin, she grabbed it from another member from our group. We as a group were not pleased at all with her level of service that should have not happened at this caliber of restaurant.

I had a bad experience at Sofia restaurant. I had a birthday date and thought that would be a nice place to celebrate but I was totally wrong. The food was bad, what you see on the pic not the same what you get. The service was so bad , as soon as you finish the food they bring the bill to leave. The place was too crowded and noisy with bad chairs. Not recommended at all!

I went to Sofia s on Nov 29 to celebrate my partners birthday. The male server we had was nice and polite but the female Jessica had an attitude we all chose to ignore. The food was okay, the potatoes and lamb was probably the best part. They brought out a happy birthday plate that was for a child. It looked horrible it looked like drops of playdough . As well as getting to our table was like walking through a maze interrupting tables just to get through. The part that was the worst was I am a GAY female. I went into the women s bathroom with two of my friends, I was then followed by two female workers waiting in-front of my stall until I was done that was in shock at the fact I was a girl that there were about to tell me I shouldn t be in here until I made it be known by looking at them that I am a girl. The way they looked at me is not okay. In this day and age doing that is a no no! I work with management and it is highly disrespectful to follow a Women that only looks different because of a hat is crazy to me. I wasnt given no apology from either of them, they both starred at me and said never mind and waked back out. I felt highly disrespected i paid my bill which I regret because I actually shouldn t of. I will NEVER go back here or recommend anyone to go here. Especially to celebrate a birthday it ain t the vibe at all!

We came in from Vancouver and were recommended Sofias for dinner. I have some allergies to seed oils and Adam the Manager gave us probably one of the best experiences we ve ever had at any restaurant. He was absolutely amazing! I have dined at this establishment a few times in the past but sadly I have to say the food was adequate and that s all. Nothing special or spectacular about it. I had the carpaccio which was ok and the Milanese veal which was really super oily. My companion had the buratta which was very good and the rigatoni Alla vodka which was superb. But I am really struggling with the exhuberant prices being charged for something that was just ok and nothing more. I think sofias is due for a makeover refresh or update to make it more vibrant again. It just reminds me of a place that used to be great and is now just sailing into posterity

Brunch at Sofia was delightful. They offer a selection of gluten-free options, which was a wonderful surprise. I enjoyed the bruschetta and Uova Strapazzate, both of which were delicious. Our server was attentive and took extra care to ensure my dishes were allergy-friendly.

came here for a friend s bday dinner and i am so beyond disappointed with their service. firstly, the food was SO mediocre, go spend your money elsewhere honestly. service can compensate for bad food but the service we received was beyond terrible. we had two wait staff for a 9 people party. it took them 20 minutes to bring me a single slice of lemon; even though they came for water refills, i had to remind them 3 times. they only provided us one drink menu and took another 15 minutes to bring out a second. just such poor service on their part. the only time they seemed to be engaging was when were near the end of our dinner and were about to ask for the bill. when they realized gratuity would already be added to our bill, they went back to giving us the most poor service i have ever experienced. would never come here for myself personally. not to mention, the layout of their restaurant is so beyond garbage. you have to tip toe to move around the restaurant because of how crowded it is; crowded not because of the people, but because of how many tables and chairs they ve stacked up.

I recently dined at Sofia, and while the interior was absolutely stunning and created a beautiful atmosphere, the food unfortunately didn t live up to expectations. The service was fast and efficient, but the quality of the dishes was disappointing. If you re looking for a place with great ambiance, Sofia is worth a visit, but don t expect too much from the food.

4.5 / 5 fun, sexy, elegant atmosphere. Gigi (Giana) was an amazing server and took care of us. Mgmt was also on the ball. For a Wednesday night, we couldn t have asked for much more. Italian food is really good. It s upscale elegant, not fine dining. So manage your expectations. But honestly, the bar area and lounge is perfect for singles and couples and small parties. They have a great patio. No view, but fun vibe. Try it once. Or 10 times. Recommend. No photos of food. I ll update next visit.

Have been going to Sofias for a few years now. The quality of servers has really gone down hill. Very unfortunate as the food is always great. Avoid the waitress with the nasal voice and glasses. When I tipped her 18%, she rolled her eyes.

I must say.. I ve been coming here since it opened with my family.. lived in yorkville for a million years. Always loved the vibe.. and Charles is a good friend of mine. However, the manager who knows my family well.. congratulations on your France wedding by the way.. She knows I was going through a rough time and could have shown a bit more kindness. I ll give her the benefit of the doubt she was having a bad day. As was I. I ll be returning one day I m sure. Taking a break for now. Be nice to the OG s, not just the escorts. All love and respect. Outstanding, as soon as we arrived for dinner we were served with amazing enthusiasm. Our waiter, Kelly, was astonishing, he gave us amazing suggestions which we put our full trust in and it did not disappoint. We started with a beautiful octopus starter before a mouthwatering porterhouse steak which was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Kelly was sure to give us stunning information about the food that we ordered with great enthusiasm. The atmosphere was beautiful and Overall the perfect experience, I would fully recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Went for brunch, very average food, seriously. Overpriced for what it is even compared to restaurants & meals in its class. What makes up for it is the vibe, the murals, and the space is really nice and big. I d recommend trying the mimosas which redeemed the food.

Dined at Sofia multiple times and it was my first time there for lunch. Ordered cappuccino with eggplant parmesan panini. The panini turned out to be a big stack of focaccia bread with ONE paper thin slice of eggplant. My friend and I were upset because we both ordered the same sandwich. The saving grace was the great service we received.

Great restaurant in the heart of Yorkville with great food, friendly staff & cool atmosphere! Love that there s so many seats inside and outside as well! I also love all the decor inside, it really ties everything together. The pasta dishes we got were amazing and the service was very quick!

Very small portion sizes and the truffle pasta did not was too hard and none of us could smell or taste any truffles. The atmosphere was great and service was good but I would not recommend this place simply cause of how disappointed everyone in my group felt about the food quality and portion sizes.

The agnolotti pasta had no truffles in it.

We had heard such great things about this restaurant so I booked it for my husbands birthday dinner. Everything was top notch and exactly how we expected. The food was very delicious and our server was exceptional. My only complaint would be that they charged us for the dessert. When I made the reservations the hostess asked me if it was for a special occassion and I told her its for my husbands birthday. She said they will do a surprise for him with a dessert and to look at the menu and pick a dessert. So I assumed the dessert would be on the house, however it was on our bill. It wasnt a lot and we paid for it but I just thought it was odd and not what I would expect from a high end restaurant because if youre not going to cover the dessert then dont tell me to pick it fron the menu. Maybe I wouldnt have ordered the dessert from the restaurant and would have had gelato from outside. Also, normal chain restaurants bring out something small when you tell them its a birthday celebration. That small gesture from the restaurant makes the service go above and beyond and I felt that lacked at Sofia. Other than that we had a great time.

The food is decent flavorful, well-plated, and satisfying. Not the best experience Ive had, but definitely worth a visit if you are craving Italian fare.

I just left Sofia s very upset. I came in for brunch at 12 PM before an appointment, which I had planned 1.5 hours in advance. However, it took over an hour and fifteen minutes for my dish to come out. I understand if I had ordered a complicated dish, but it was a simple avocado toast. What was particularly upsetting was that the table next to me, which arrived around the same time as I did, finished their meal and left before my food had even arrived. The long wait time was not only inconvenient but also quite frustrating, especially given the simplicity of my order. I mentioned my concerns to the staff, but their response was indifferent, with no explanation for the delay. They just kept telling me to wait. The only compensation I received was the removal of my orange juice from the bill. This minimal gesture did little to make up for the poor experience and time I had wasted. After posting my review, I ve read several reviews mentioning service being discriminatory towards Asians. After my experience today, I think this is true!

I visited for brunch over the weekend. The food quality was excellent, the coffee was average, and the service was okay. We sat at the front of the restaurant outside, but the patio space in the back looked more appealing.

This is by far one of the best restaurants in the city and definitely in my top three favourites. The food is absolutely amazing and continually consistent as I frequent this place quite often. The interior design and ambience of the restaurant is very chic and upscale. The service is absolutely impeccable; and my cocktails are always full and flowing. The DJ plays the best ambient chill/deep house vibes that enhances the dining experience. The whole team and staff work together in synchronicity to ensure you have an amazing night out which makes for an unforgettable experience. Highly recommended!!!

I went to Sofia restaurant for a quick bite and coffee in early afternoon. No one was there to sit us until we caught one of the server to get a table, it then took an other 5 to 10minutes to finally get the menu and some water and took an other 40minutes to get our one dish (too spicy and oily) while the restaurant was pretty much empty and staff were walking around pretending to be busy. We then got a sorbet which was icy and not smooth. The restaurant itself is beautiful and well located in Yorkville but you pay the overprice of it on food and drinks.

First and foremost, the design, artwork, and ambiance inside Sofia are unrivaled. It is absolutely gorgeous inside and has some outstanding artists pieces on display throughout the dining room. Now to the dinner and experience. The bartenders in the bar where we started our evening were very polite, and the service was fast, and the drinks were very strong A+ for them. We then moved to the dining room. Our server was absolutely attententive. She checked on our table regularly but didnt overly bother us either, which was very appreciated. Now to the food. The Fritto Misto was absolutely perfect. The squid was lightly battered and fried to perfection. A++ for this. The main courses that we shared were the Wagyu Flatiron and the Wild Boar Garganelli with a side of Patate. The pasta dish was incredibly flavorful, and pasta was cooked to perfection. A+++ for this dish. Now, the Wagyu was ordered to a medium to accommodate my partners taste, and it was served rare, which was disappointing. I would say this was the only area they missed hard on. When I addressed this with the server, she sent it back and came back only a few minutes later with what was no doubt the same steak that they recooked!!! In my opinion, they ruined the steak, and Im shocked that a restaurant of this caliber would do this at all!!! I did not complain because I was celebrating a birthday and overall everything else made up for it. With that being said, the flavors were bang on for the steak, so Id like to try it without it being recooked. For this dish B-. Overall, this place is beautiful, and the food was a homerun overall. Definitely would return to try some other dishes. A+

Came in Sunday evening with my lil pup and a friend for dinner around 9:30PM and Lex and Ali (and honestly all the rest of the staff here) were exemplary as to what the true meaning of hospitality is. They were kind, attentive and most importantly made us feel so welcome even though their patio was closed, they went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and were so accommodating. Thank you SO much.

Absolutely loved our experience at this restaurant! The service was impeccable; the servers were incredibly kind and attentive, promptly clearing our table after each dish. The food was simply outstanding - the Australian Lamb Rack with Fig Marmellata, Parsnip Purée, Aged Balsamic, and Pistachio was a standout, along with the Mascarpone And Taleggio Stuffed Agnolotti, Foraged Mushrooms, and Truffle. The Oysters served with White Balsamic Mignonette and Calabrese Hot Sauce were also a delightful treat. The ambiance was perfect for a special occasion like my birthday. My husband and I are already planning our next visit!

A great night, great atmosphere. My only comment is the restaurant telling me that I had a 2 hour seating time. We almost cancelled our reservation, received two calls confirming the reso and bringing the 2 hour seat time to my attention. What a joke. Take it easy Yorkville!

Poor service. Racist and definitely treats Asians extreamly poorly. The main dining table was seated with everyone. The hostess decides to seat us in a dark corner room with no one else to segregate us. Obviously it was intentional on how she chose how to seat us. Sofia resturuant needs to train and manage their staff better. Will not be back anytime soon. Food is not even that good. Other great places around.

Out of countless Italian options in Toronto, Sofia isn t one that stands out. The vibe is nice but the food is average. The only thing that we would come back for is their tiramisu. There are definitely better options in the city.

Pastas are limited options....but they are by far the best options on the menu. Lobster spaghetti was the table favorite.

The chosen establishment was regarded as an optimal location for me to engage ines with my acquaintances, while also partaking in alcoholic beverages. However, I was dissatisfied with the standard pasta dish, though the special truffle pasta dish was deemed quite delectable. The elevated decibel level o social activitif the music played impeded our ability to engage in amiable conversation, thus rendering it unsuitable for such an occasion. Nevertheless, I intend to re-visit the establishment to participate in a ladies night out over drinks and dinner.

I went here for my friend s birthday. It was a nice vibe, boujie but not uptight. The drink I had was the best drink I ve had in a while. It was the SPEZIATA. I ordered it without the Jalepeno - 12/10. The bread was amazing. I can t remember which pasta I got but it was maybe 5/10. Overall vibes were great. The Tiramisu cake we got for my friend was yummy - 8/10. Dietary restrictions: There are meatless pasta options. Parking: There is a paid parking lot nearby.

Had a bad experience for the 3rd time in a row at Sofia and sadly this was the last time I was going to give them another try. This time breakfast took over 50 minutes to be served (1:24pm) although the server was asked what the fastest thing to make was (12:16pm) as we only have one hour. It is not the waitress s fault! We were offered boxes as we were trying to eat so quick and couldn t finish our over cooked eggs that were supposed to be poached(can be seen in photos). That was all still ok though until the manager offered to take the coffees off the bill!!! It felt so disrespectful to offer that as most restaurants would simply not charge after such an issue but there we were (a charity case). We paid for our unfinished meals & coffees and left. (Note: Times included are based on when the photos were taken) I don t recommend Sofia however that is my personal opinion & experience.

My sig other and I had high hopes for this restaurant, but were left sadly disappointed. We were seated at 8pm, ordered almost right away, and didn t receive our main dishes until 9:30pm. We were watching people get seated around us, receive their food, dine and leave, while we were still waiting on our main courses. We were waiting over an hour for our main dishes and they came our room temp. Our server must have completely forgot about our table and was no where to be found for the duration of our dinner. We inquired with other servers on the status of our food and we were told it would be out shortly about three times within the hour. At that point we had enough and were ready to leave, but our server was still no where to be found. My sig other and I both worked in the restaurant industry previously so we did our best to be patient and understanding, but after waiting over an hour for our food, we couldn t sit there any longer. I called over a manager and calmly/respectfully let her know what happened during our evening. She got our food out right away with a sincere apology. She took care of our bill because of the poor service and was genuinely the saving grace of this restaurant. The food we actually did receive was just above average. In our opinion, it was definitely not worth the extensive wait, and not worth the price. You re paying to be in Yorkville, but I ve had much higher quality Italian food elsewhere. We re both Italian and had high hopes for the food given the recommendations, reviews, and price point, but it was felt very over hyped. The restaurant itself is quite beautiful, however, be prepared that the music is so loud you can barely hear the person across from you. The music choice also did not match the atmosphere. The choice was techno/club music in such an elegant restaurant which felt confused. Overall, we are unsure if the negative experience with this particular server tainted our experience, or if it truly is over hyped. That being said, we are not opposed to returning and trying it again. Hopefully I can write a new review on a future date with better remarks.

I made a reservation for three 50th birthdays at Sofia. Three weeks later and a week prior to my reservation, I was left a voicemail stating my reservation was cancelled due to renovations. This is totally unacceptable as Im now stuck scrambling to find a reservation for the 6 of us which will impact the anticipation and excitement of our 50th birthday celebrations. The service was awful and very unprofessional. The whole time our server acted like he was annoyed to serve us. When we finally finished our meals and paid there were 3 servers gathered around to see how much we tipped. Not a friendly restaurant for Asians.

Terrible experience, that loud music is unbearable. Chic decor but it ends there. Definitely not recommend.

We were here 3 weeks ago for a birthday dinner. Food was great and our server Sheldon was awesome! Very attentive. However, the manager needs lessons in customer service. Very rude and condescending. He does not belong in this industry. And your reservation system needs a 200% improvement! Beautiful atmosphere but a little loud. Very difficult to have conversation with the people youre dining with.

The food and drinks were fantastic

We had the avocado toast and the cacio pepe scrambled eggs. Both were fantastic. Also has the whipped ricotta. For both the dishes that came with bread the toast was grilled and limp. Would be nice if they invested in an actual toaster. Overall fantastic service in a gorgeous room. We also enjoyed the bottomless mimosas which is totally worth it. We will be back for dinner for sure.

Ive been to Sofia before. Its disappointing to see how much it has changed. Music was so obnoxiously loud the night we went, we were screaming across our table. It was supposed to be our work Christmas dinner. The artist singing was very talented but continually got louder and loude. The atmosphere was so off especially for a Thursday night. Service was okay but half the time our server couldnt hear us which made no sense. If employees cant communicate to guests how do you expect them to do their job?

Went for a birthday party. I was floored by the style. The staff are well-dressed and professional. I ate seafood and pasta. The drinks were superb. Safe bet for a nice place to go out.

A very good Italian restaurant even though the food lacked a bit of creativity (it wasn t extremely refreshing regarding a unique experience), the flavors were good! The grilled mushrooms and desserts were amazing though overall a very solid performance from the staff!

Been there twice now, and this restaurant commands a level of elegance that is very unique. You dont feel out of place coming here off the street but the menu is definitely on the higher end price-wise. The staff is very cordial and professional. I came here for brunch on a Saturday afternoon, and loved it! It wasnt super busy during this time, and because the space is quite large, diners werent placed so close together that you can hear the conversation of the table beside you. The interior of Sofia is beautiful, and our personal server was great! She was friendly, easy to understand, knew the menu, and always came by at the right moment to refill our water glasses. I thoroughly enjoyed everything we ordered during this visit, as it was all very flavourful without being overwhelming. I especially loved especially the tigelle (similar to an English muffin) that was served with my eggs benedict. It was somewhat buttery, crispy on the outside, and soft in the inside. Ordered: - uova in camicia (eggs benny) - insalata di rucola (arugula salad) - zeppole di san giuseppe (Italian doughnut & pistachio ice cream) - Apricot and Peach bellini - Pomegranate and Tea bellini

Ok where do I start...the atmosphere was beautiful. The interior decoration was perfect for a date night and birthday get together. Butttt............the dj, I swear he was playing the same beat over and over lolol or maybe it was the alcohol I was drinking. The waitess,I forgot her name ,was amazing. I made sure to tip her good. I had the rigatoni alla vodka pasta which was delicious . The bread that they served was cold and they served it with olive oil umm, what happpen to the balsamic vinger? Which should have been added in the olive. The drinks had a tangy bitter tastes to them . It was kinda like they all taste the same. Overall, Ill give the place a nice 7. Would have been a 10, until they ran out of the cake I wanted lol. Would i go again yes, I like the inside of the restaursnt and it is great for picture and a awesome date night

the management team actively berated the staff in front of our table - it was extremely uncomfortable. You can feel the stress from the service team the entire time you are there. I dont know how they are able to keep employees when they treat them so terribly? The pastas were not worth the price and the drinks were extremely slow... I have been here once and would never return.

Had brunch here and it was mediocre for the price point. Ordered bread and whipped butter to start and both were cold which doesn t make a lot of sense. Smoothie was a bit bland. Other than that, not bad. Service was decent.

If I could give more than just 5 Instars for service I would! Tonight we celebrated a birthday, the food was not the greatest, my main course chicken was pink & when asked to please cook it for a few minutes the other sever had an issue with our request. But I must say the reason I have 5 starts, our main server Sheldon! If you want to be taken care of I suggest you only request his service! He went above and beyond for us, I will only come back because of him. He deserves the world !

Had brunch at Sophia last Sunday. The place is starting to show its age and some areas were dirty. The pancakes were delicious but the omelette was just ok. Service was really good. Not what we were expecting but glad we tried it. Nothing that would make us come back.

Went here for brunch for two friends birthdays. They advertised bottomless mimosas but its mostly juice and they take so long to bring you each drink. For $46 we all had 3 drinks and they dont tell you when last call is they just tell you brunch is over already. Between 5 girls that had drinks, none of us left with even a slight Buzz . Food was okay but it didnt seem like our server even cared about our table. Wont be back. Waste of money.

Went for brunch with a friend over the weekend. They have a huge space, so getting a table wasn t difficult and we were seated almost immediately. The food was average. I got the pancakes while my friend got the scrambled eggs. The pancakes were quite dry and needed a fair bit of maple syrup to account for that. The toppings were quite good though to be fair. My friend really didn t like his dish though; so much so that we swapped with each other midway through the meal.

Sofia is a delightful experience atmosphere, cuisine, and cocktails are some of the best in Toronto. Thursday at Sofia on Jazz night is exactly where you want to be.

came here for a birthday celebration and while the food and atmosphere were great, the server literally told us *four* times that we had a 2h time limit. first off - they didn t tell me this when i booked. second - the reso was at 7pm and the next table wasn t until 9:30, and the hostess told us we had until 9:15, so we had more than 2h. third - talk about a buzz kill. literally felt so rushed the whole night..servers coming and clearing plates right away, and again our server rushed us to order. not how you want to feel on a special night. we ended the night at 8:45 and had 30 mins to spare.. what was the point of rushing us in the end. anyway the food was good that was the only saving grace

Modern style Italian restaurant in the heart of Yorkville, I like their Buratta and Pollo Al Mattone, some of their menu items are unreasonably overpriced but guess that s okay given the location and ambiance.

Hate the service

food is just ordinary, service is awful!! The girl at coat check on Sunday night gave us rude and unpleasant attitude the whole time. The server was rude feel like she did not want to see us in the restaurant. If you want rude servers who ignore you shows unprofessional attitude in front of you and never come to your table to check on you, feel free to go Sofia : )

I absolutely loved this restaurant. I went for a little brunch and ordered pancakes and pasta. The food was delicious. They do not take your dietary restrictions into consideration when you re ordering your meal. The staff and service wasn t that good either. Dietary restrictions: They do not have options for diary.

Came here for my birthday celebration with my friends last week. The food was average, cocktails were okay. Service was terrible. The server had the attitude the whole meal. Feel like we were treated like we can t pay for our meals or something like that I wish I would read the review before I book, I guess Sophia has terribly service towards Asian like the other reviews! Not recommended!

As someone not familiar with Toronto. A friend brought me here for a good night out. This is fine dining. The food was absolutely amazing and the service was second to none. The place was packed and everyone was enjoying themselves. I dont think Ive had Italian food that was this good in my life. Compliments to the chef. You are certainly paying for what you get though, its expensive but worth every cent. The service was stellar and what you would expect for this type of restaurant.
