Authentic Italian neighbourhood spot, in an exposed brick, rustic setting,
This place in so warm and cozy on a cold winters night! The food was delicious, I had the penne a la calabrese, definitely recommend (everyone wanted some!). Ahmed is such a charming server, it really elevated the experience. Me and my friends are coming again!
Little hidden gem that you must try! Authentic Italian cuisine in a beautiful traditional setting, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff in a quiet neighborhood. Ahmed was amazing, he was very knowledgeable and gave us excellent recommendations! We had a great time!
I recently dined at this wonderful restaurant, and I must say, it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The ambiance was warm and inviting, the food was delicious, and the service was impeccable. Our waiter, Amed, was especially attentive and made our evening truly special. He was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Amed’s recommendations were spot on, and his genuine care for the customers was evident throughout the meal. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for great food and exceptional service. We will definitely be coming back!
Taverniti North absolutely 10 out of 10, nothing to complain at all at these guys. I’ve got Fjore pizza that was something massive, so far one of the best pizza I’ve ever had in Toronto if is not the best one. We had been served by Ahmed, the only server was there tonight. He was running back and forth all the time no stop, and no matters what always smiling and being kind, that shows how grate is the atmosphere there! Very good staff everyone very kind and always happy to help. If you gotta eat a pizza go here, I’ll come back, not only once!
4. Solid family-style, neighborhood, Italian restaraunt. Checkered table cloths and a big menu with all the classics. Service was friendly and fairly attentive- very accommodating of allergies. Pastas were pretty good, kitchen is happy to make substitutions if needed. Food was all well-timed and they don’t rush you out of there on a week night.
Craving Italian food, I decided to drop by and try this restaurant, The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, friendly staff, and decent menu options. I ordered N'duja E Stracciatella. The cheese was fresh, and the bruschetta was delicious. The honey was an excellent compliment. The Tagliatelle Ai Funghi Misti was homemade and you could taste the freshness and love put to make the food. My favourite part was the dessert limoncello tart, the sweet and sour was well balanced wich was a great ending to a dinner. Overall it’s a great place to have authentic Italian food made by Italian family.
Wanted to stick to something local for our anniversary and had a wonderful dinner. Loved the pasta we tried - a mushroom linguine and a gorgonzola gnocchi. The gonnchi was my favourite, so creamy and nutty with the walnuts. Texture of the gnocchi was a good balance of chewy density. These polenta fries were the star of the mean, we were so surprised. Crunchy, delicious and the creamy sauce complemented it well. A wonderful little local Italian restaurant. Highly recommend if you want something local and delicious.
We tried their Calzone and Pizzas. The size of the food was surprisingly big. In the end, I realized the Calzone was big because 50% of it was just dough. It was a little disappointing experience because there wasn’t any vegan option for one of our friends ( other than salad… ). I don’t know if I am willing to come back.
nice place, good atmosphere, kind personnell. unfortunately pizza was below expectations, not sure if just happened to be the wrong timing but for such an awarded place i was expecting more. no pictures as im not the person to take pictures before eating, but both visually and tastefully wasnt up to the standard. will try again on another day.
Servers are always welcoming and efficient, decent wine selection, takeout is reliable and consistent. You know the food and service will be good. I love that it is open later than most places.
Ahmed was the best server!!! what a king!
Ahmed was amazing!! Love his energy the food tasted better because it was served by him!
Ahmed showed us an amazing time. Food was fantastic as well. Recommend the rigatoni.
Loved the atmosphere the moment I walked in. Aicha greeted my girlfriend and I very warmly and the service was fantastic. Will definitely be coming back!
Came here on a Friday night! It had a really nice vibe with tentative staff. Aicha was so kind and made sure my order didn t have any dairy since I m vegan. Spaghetti aglio olio e pepperoncino was perfect. Will definitely be back. Dietary restrictions: Vegan options available
Great place! Like Sugo without the fuss
What an amazing vibe and atmosphere! The servers who were working there were so friendly, fun, and made us feel very comfortable! I will definitely go back!!
Worst customer service. Staff dont know how to respond to the customer
Great italian food and great service. My favourite place ! Would definitely come back .
Id probably give 4.5 stars if I could, but this is a wholesome neighbourhood spot, so Im happy to round up. Very cute atmosphere, with great decor and cohesive music. I envy those who live nearby and can use this as their regular go-to. Its a great place to socialize and enjoy some food and drinks. The chicken parm was some of the best Ive ever had in my life, maybe the best. My partners pappardelle bolognese was good too, but nothing mind-blowing. Our server was really nice and conversational, but the food did take a bit longer than ideal to be served. Overall though, I had a really good experience.
Had lasagne and ravioli. Homemade style pasta. However, uninspired and main flavour is salt. Lasagne is basically stacked pasta with little meat and sauce in between the layers. Ravioli was nice and meaty, again the sauce was too salty. No cheese on top of lasagne. Would not recommend those two dishes. Plus, arancini tasted weird... kinda like cardboard or fried in old oil. Not worth the money unfortunately
Want to start off by saying that the staff was great and went above and beyond. Thank you so much for making my husbands 40th birthday a great celebration. We initially came to Taverniti North on one of our date nights and fell in love with the place, so we had to come back and share this hidden gem with our friends. Highly recommend. Thank you again for the great food and service.
Really wanted to like this place as it is local within walking distance and we love some other spots along Dovercourt. Unfortunately it was a disappointing night start to finish. The service didn t feel personal many different servers stopped by at random points without anyone introducing themselves and talking to us. When we walked in we waited by the front for a bit before someone poked their head out and came up to the front we inquired about the tiramisu but unfortunately it was sold out (no fault to the restaurant we understand things sell out) We put in our order for dinner and an appetizer anyways since we were excited for the food. Our arancini was brought out and although it felt freshly fried it lacked flavour and the sauce tasted like it had just come out of a jar. We didn t get asked how our food was until it was time to clear the plates. When our mains came out the chicken parm had a pasta with it despite ordering a salad to go along side from the two options. When the plate was returned with the salad it was clear the sauce that was on the other plate had just been scooped onto the chicken parm and the salad was just put onto the plate with a shocking lack of toppings or sauce. The portions felt small and nothing truly felt fresh. The other dish we had was the spaghetti with the meatballs. The meatballs were okay and spaghetti was cooked well but once again everything didn t feel fresh. The service was few and far between and felt like we were being passed by more than we actually talked to anyone. When it came time for the bill we were offered dessert but at that point we just wanted the bill and to leave. Unfortunately there are just too many far superior options in the area and friendlier service that we don t think we will come back and can t in good faith recommend others to try this local spot.
My girlfriend and I recently had dinner there. It was a last moment decision, so we didn t have a reservation. Although the restaurant was busy and diners with reservations were still arriving, the staff was very kind and accommodating and after a short wait we got a table. We were very pleased, not only with the service but with the food and charm of the place. Our server Ahmad (heavy emphasis on the H) was just terrific. So attentive and personable to every diner in the restaurant. He turned a nice meal into a great one! We were very pleased. So pleased that I m writing a review and it s a long one. Thank you. Look forward to visiting again.
Outstanding service. We got fortunate to be served by the manager and he was lovely. He accompanied us a lot more than required, wish we appreciated in the wine selection and it turns out great. Same with food. Probably the best place for your buck in Toronto.
Every time I come here for a meal, I fall in love with the food. The location is full of character. I cant endorse this place enough.
Excellent food and service!
Very beautiful atmosphere. The pasta and pizza we had were amazing too! The service staff was kind and kept checking on us, even brought out some bread and butter for the baby of the group without us asking! That was absolutely wonderful. Their in-house gelato was super yummy! Kid-friendliness: High chair available On site. Menu can be modified to kids selection
Loved the food and ambiance! Very good European vibe!
Beautiful family trattoria with a small yet delicious menu, I ve been coming to this place for years, their carbonara is unbeatable
I have long liked Taverniti in Little Italy, as well as their gnocchi bar at Tavs, so was quite chuffed to discover their third outlet. Its on Dovercourt just south of Dupont, and the area is buzzing with new restaurants and bars. Four of us popped in for dinner. Food was very good. Penne Calabrasi with ndujah was spicy and very nice. Squash-Stuffed pasta with sage and butter sauce; polpetti, caesar salad, pasta carbona with ndujah. Beef carpacchio. Nonnas special cake. Everything was lovely, fresh and hot. All in all, very good home-style Italian food in a cozy red-checkered tablecloth Trattoria. Well go back. My one complaint: Is there not an Italian restaurant in Toronto anymore that features Fegato alla Veneziana on the menu?
We recently dined at Trattoria Tavernitis North and got a reservation for four on the same day on Open Table. Our meal was fantastic. We started with the bruschetta and arancini balls. We ordered two different pastas (funghi and a mildly spicy rose) and two pizzas for the main course. Overall, all the dishes had fresh ingredients and were flavourful. The pizza was well perfectly cooked. Service was fast, knowledgeable, friendly, and quick. Overall, we had an enjoyable experience and left very full. Accessibility: downstairs washroom through a narrow staircase, some street parking available
Tonight, I ordered the parmigiana chicken for delivery. It s was really thin and overcooked. Never had parm chicken so thin. Thank goodness for the tomato sauce or else it would have been difficult to eat. I also had to grate my own parmigiana cheese. This meal was so small I had to eat something else to supplement it. Sorry, but I can t recommend this. Not at that price.
Delicious food offered at this Italian restaurant! Recently visited the restaurant and I was impressed by the quality of the service offered. Our waitress Aila was really kind and friendly. She recommended a delicious pizza. Special mention to the amazing tiramisu. Highly recommend!
This was our first visit today, and we came to celebrate our anniversary. Delicious food, a homey atmosphere, and great service. Well come back as soon as we can. We would especially like to thank our waitress, who, despite being alone during a full house, was undoubtedly a professional in very challenging circumstances.
Fantastic restaurant with a perfect summer vibe and a great staff. Can t wait to go back. Vegetarian options: Great veggie options
The pizza I ordered was pretty great and I could see the good quality of the ingredients. My one complaint is that when asked if I wanted still or sparkling water, I answered still thinking that they would just bring me tap water. Instead i was brought a large $7 bottle of still. I wish that the way it had been asked had been a little more clear as I definitely didn t need a large bottle of still water to myself and would have rather spent the money on a cocktail instead. I would give it a 4.5/5 star rating if possible.
Very cozy and affordable spot with delicious pizzas and good lasagna.
The pizza I ordered was burnt and tasteless and it took 45 minutes to cook. The service was horrible, the waitress didnt service our table at all. I wouldnt recommend this restaurant to eat Italian food.
Good classic Italian pasta and pizza at reasonable prices
Food and service was outstanding.. Great neighborhood Restaurant..only complaint ...no Brio....lol Food
Have come here a couple times, the pizza is amazing. Fair pricing and portions, everything is filling. Came for my anniversary and Max was really helpful, made us feel at home. The table outside is really nice when its warm.
Food was impeccable, highly recommend their pesto pasta, and their margarita pizza. Service was okay, but hard to get their attention at times for service. The atmosphere was lovely, cute date night place. Highly recommend
Came here since we were in the area and saw the rave reviews. The food, atmosphere and service was top notch. We were surprised at the quality and amazing selection. We will be back sooner rather than later.
Great little spot in the area. Came here on a whim for my birthday with my boyfriend and we were very impressed with the quality, prices and atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Great Italian restaurant in the neighborhood. Food portions are filling, service us excellent.
lovely meal, lovely service
Great experience and delicious food.
I stopped going to the College St location after my mother s birthday dinner was ruined. I was serve old Refrigerated food, I found a plastic bag in the pizza crust, which was replaced by a clumpy pasta that we could not eat. This is reflection that something really changed in that kitchen. I came to this location for redemption and that real Italian vibe and treatment that I use to find @College.
A cozy small Italian restaurant that serves a lot of pizza options. I enjoyed the pizza and the seafood ingredient in tomato sauce. The seas are not very comfortable but for a small restaurant it s fine.
This location is just as great as the original spot on College...very pleasantly surprised. Tried the pizza Calabrese for the first time...wow, just incredible. Theyre also on Uber Eats...making that pizza dangerously convenient.
Had a great first time experience here and will definitely be back. They accommodated us arriving early, the food was delicious, and our server was so personable and welcoming.
My boyfriend and I came here for a dinner date yesterday and everything was incredible! The staff were all super friendly and clearly pros at their jobs. The Dominico pizza was so delicious and i would gladly eat a bucket of the sauce alone, that the fried plantains were served in. So top notch! I can t wait to come back. (Probably tomorrow lol)
We came here for my birthday and we were really pleased with everything from ambiance, the servers and the food. Food was delicious and great prices. We also had a margherita pizza which was delicious! We will be coming here a lot.
This is one of those italian spots in toronto that are a hidden gem. Their homemade chili oil is the best.
Our new favourite Italian restaurant. Perfect location. Food was great. Staff were perfect. Fun experience. Next up Pizza!!
Really enjoyed this hidden gem, with its classic old world charm. Great authentic food, attentive and friendly staff. Would highly recommend.
Ordered pasta and pizza. It was too good!
The lasagna was horrible!!!! The veal was very tasty but the portion of pasta you get with it is ridiculous. Like how much does pasta really cost???? And we paid extra for a bolognese sauce on the pasta and the bolognese sauce was barley there ..very dry. For the money we paid I would not go back there.
Delicious
Nice service Friendly wine Very good food and great experience A great evening and will come back
My family of 4 came here for dinner on Saturday night at 5:30pm. Without any reservations, they were able to accommodate us, provided that we would be finished by 7:30pm. We ordered calamari to start. Very delicious but my 2 kids ate it all up before my spouse and I were able to enjoy any of it. Serving was sufficient for 2 only. We re accustomed to ordering just one eat many other places and it being enough for our entire family but here 2 orders is a must. We asked for bread for my kids to dip into the marinara sauce that came the calamari to keep our kids settled and figured it would also be good to absorb the sugo from the pasta (scarpetta) dish we ordered for our main. It came with 3 small pieces (not even 1 for each of us). Our main consisted of 2 pizzas and a pasta dish. All delicious and great service. When we asked for our bill, we were shocked that we were charged for the bread as we were never informed that there would be a cost for it. Just unusual that we would even be charged for bread at all considering it s kind of staple with a pasta dish for those who like to have Scarpetta with their pasta. Overall great experience and food despite the bread issue.
Best Italian food in Toronto, hands down! Love the family vibe and warm atmosphere. Highly recommend Penne Rosina
Once I ve tried Penne Rosina and their Lasagna, I decided to rent out an apartment above the restaurant so I could eat there always. Best Italian food I have ever tried!
great food, large portions and vibes
I called March 14th about booking a reservation for a party of 22 people (wedding rehearsal dinner). The gentleman I spoke to seemed polite. He took my name and number and told me he would speak to his manager and call me back. Today is March 18th.... And Im still waiting for that call back. Im sure your food is good...but I suppose Ill never know.
A MUST!!! My family and I went for the first time to try this local GEM to celebrate my daughters birthday, and we were not disappointed! We were greeted by a charming and pleasant manager Fjorentin. He was attentive, funny and very knowledgeable about the entire menu! We have often visited Italy and familiar with the countrys food and flavours. We can honestly say this Trattoria T North, nailed the flavours of Italy with both their pizzas and calzones. One of the best we have ever had!! Truly a taste of Italy!! This place will and must become a local go to. The ambiance gives us the warm southern Italian vibe further complementing the experience. Small..quaint with great service and food is a recipe for success!
Food made with love and care, great value and excellent service
We had an exceptional dinner! Great atmosphere, loved my cocktail. Eni our server was incredible and we really enjoyed everything we ordered! Will definitely be back soon
Great local spot for family dinners. Service is always friendly and accommodating, food is spot on.
Small place but great food complimented by great service
Very cute place for a cozy meal. To start the first thing I loved when walking in was that it was not loud in there. You could hear yourself think. The food was amazing! We had the orange salad which was great, the penne arrabbiata and the pesto pizza. The pizza crust was one of the best I had so if you love pizza and especially pizza crust check it out. The service was great as well and our server Fjorentin took great care of us all night. I would definitely recommend and I will be going back in the future.
A perfect little neighbourhood spot. The food hits every time, the servers are warm and attentive (but never overbearing), and despite our best efforts to go over the top on the ordering front, the bill remains very, very reasonable. It was both heartening and unsurprising to see it bumping on a Tuesday night, it s quickly become something of a local institution with good reason.
Excellent atmosphere and the attention of the waiters very friendly and familiar. the flavors of the food delicate and very homely.
Delicious food, friendly staff, and cozy atmosphere. This place opening was a huge win for the neighborhood.
It s actually a hidden gem!!
Very good
Absolutely amazing. Much MUCH better than the college street location. Attentive service and incredible food. 10/10 Bravo
Really nice atmosphere. Friendly staff and really good food. Price is good as well. I recommend it and will come back often
Deliciousness, Real authentic Italian food. Will definitely be a repeat customer Food
Amazing food, great service ,wonderful owner
Delicious neighborhood spot.
Great local trattoria...very good food and friendly service
It is a place I have been to recently. There is a pretty busy restaurant with a small amount of room; however, its quite nice to renew or gather . the menu it is mostly a pasta and pizza joint, because it is an Italian restaurant, but they do have a variety of different types of pasta pizzas that I found some of them a bit pricey, but the cocktail is really good, and they serve good wine as well. There is no doubt that if you have a chance to go there I would definitely recommend to get a cocktail as well with your meal if you are able to do so. The taste is just stronger than ever. The servers were pretty professional in their manner. It was my first time going without a reservation. I have to say that the restaurant was packed, but they still provided me with a nice table even though it was full. Overall, I would rate it seven out of ten.
Great little Italian restaurant, food is well prepared and served. Well try the pizza next time we are there.
The food was delicious!!!
Fantastic food, service and vibe! Would highly recommend to anyone wanting excellent Italiian food! Food
Delicious food, perfectly prepared and our server, Isla, was warm and friendly. Nice atmosphere for a memorable family dinner. Highly recommend the calamari and marinara and many pizzas. Look forward to a return visit to this neighborhood gem!
Food was very good and the menu had a variety to choose from however the service was really bad. Not sure if they were short staffed but we had to reach out to someone to get served twice. Seemed like we were never assigned someone to service our table or something.
Excellent food...the space is a little tight so make reservations.
Tried this location for the first time. Ive been to the location on College St. Food was excellent and service was wonderful.
My / friend s birthday dinner couldn t be better. She found the place on her first search on google. We didn t have reservations, so we had to wait. The wait was worth it. My friend was looking for ages to have the authentic taste of Italy in TO as she would have when she visits her Nonna and Nonno. I am so happy her birthday dinner was extra special finding this place. We will be coming here again, of course with reservation this time!
First time there it was a Sunday night and it was packed. Very friendly. Good food. Fun music. Will be going again
Perfetto! The pizza is delicious, the staff is so friendly, the drinks are amazing. A wonderful neighborhood staple.
Very good Italian restaurant, warm welcome, large choice of dishes...good cocktails and a great Tiramisu!! A very good evening, looking forward to coming back.
nice local italian place
Everything is amazing!!!! My fav place :)
Great food, great service (Dorie), can t wait to go back!
It was OK Nothing extra ordinary Food
LOVEEEEE tavernitis North! Get the Polenta, it s incredible!
People picking up take out was disruptive and unappreciated. The Ceasar salad was so plain The calzone was burnt and unappetizing because of the size. This big burnt thing I regretted ordering. It was my birthday and it wasnt the special occasion I was hoping for
Best Italian place in Canada.
Overcook seafood on pasta. Basic pizza. Wine served in a cup not a wine glass. Slow service and some server tries to avoid eye contact as if they don t want to serve.
Lovely place
Came on opening night and it was busy as expected for authentic Italian cuisine. Always delicious food at the college location and this was no different. The staff was walking around making sure everyone was happy and satisfied as well as providing small samples of their foods. I opted to grab take out and it was delicious as I had the Penne Rosina, Highly recommend!! Coming back soon for sure!
4 of us went for dinner on Saturday night and the food was top notch as expected! Real Italian cooking! Calamari cooked to perfection! Lasagna was delicious as was the chicken Parm and the polenta is to die for! And of course the best pizza in town! It was extremely busy but the service did not suffer one bit. Thank you Domenic for accommodating us on such short notice. Love this spot! Truly a neighborhood gem!
The food was wonderfully presented, hot and fresh. Drinks were delicious and special accommodations were made for our little one. We will be back!
Cannot believe how delicious everything is at this restaurant! Wow! Phenomenal pizza, calzone and pasta! Polenta chips are incredible! I definitely recommend this restaurant to everyone!
Amazing food. We had the prosciutto/arugula pasta and a spicy rose pasta (forgot the name!). It was super good and you can taste the quality. We live a few blocks south of this gem and that s dangerous! A pleasant addition to the community. The servers were also very nice and knowledgeable!
I highly recommend this Italian restaurant. The food is incredibly tasty. So many delicious pastas, pizzas, calzoni, and appetizers! The cocktails and dessert are fantastic too. I was also extremely impressed with the service. This place is a must try!
Tavernitis North was a great experience! The food was amazing, the decor is fantastic and the service was super friendly. Will be a regular here for sure.
Amazing!! Was super impressed with the North location on Dovercourt! Its a quaint atmosphere that is filled with energy! I am fully gluten free & although they were out of GF pasta when we arrived, they promptly sent someone out to get more!! I was thrilled! The chef made every effort to accommodate my allergies & made an incredible dish from scratch for me! This was one of the best meals weve had in awhile....every bite - from the apps to the wine, to the pasta dishes, to the lemon sorbet - was authentic & felt like we were in Rome again. For only being open a month or so, Taverniti North is a VERY BUSY location & you NEED a reservation on a wknd! We celebrated our 30th anniversary here & we were SO glad we did! The staff made the experience perfect! Cant wait to eat here again! HIGHLY recommend!
Wow!! Amazing authentic Italian food. Worth a trip out of the city.
Amazing food!!! Very authentic, super fresh ingredients. The butternut squash pasta is fantastic. I have to come back and try everything
Great experience with excellent down to earth Italian food. Felt like a real Italian restaurant with no frills just good food
The best you must try Rosina pasta
Great service, food and didn t rush us out
We ordered 3 pizzas for pickup. We had to use Uber eats to order because we couldn t do it through their website even though we picked it up ourselves. We picked up at exact time but pizzas were already cold. I understand that being a small restaurant and having to fit in pickup order within restaurant orders could be challenging. I hope qthey find a way to keep pizzas warm until pickup time. We re happy to have this restaurant in our neighbourhood and will definitely keep on supporting it.
Great little Italian spot that just opened up. Been here one so far, the food was delicious, and the staff was friendly.
Delicious indulgent Italian dishes. Cozy and vibrant
Ordered delivery and was tremendously disappointed. Small and overpriced caesar salad. $13 for lettuce and three croutons. Aranci were plain and flavourless, cold in the center. Pasta was better but not good enough to save the meal. An unfortunate experience overall.
Trattoria Taverniti has hands down the best Italian food Ive had at restaurant in a while. The Kale Ceasar salad was very good, smaller portion, maybe a serving for 1 or 2. The calamari was done perfectly! The pastas were fantastic and good portions. Service was a bit slow, but that allowed for time to enjoy company and the experience. There was one server for the front house, but he was fantastic! I will definitely be back to this location. Vegetarian options: Butternut squash ravioli Parking: Found a spot right out front!
