Welcome to Viaggio! We are excited to share a taste of modern Italian dining with you. Viaggio means journey. Make your way to the edge of Little Portugal to discover delicious food and fantastic wine in a warm, intimate room. Chef has a taste for combining classical elements with hints of flavors and textures from all his travels. We have been inspired by the emerging cocktail culture in Italy and have been stocking the bar with homemade infusions for your spritz. We welcome you to explore our seasonal menu and be taken to another place on your visit here.
This an amazing Italian restaurant that will make you a steak dinner that is as close to a religious experience you can have with food. Everything we ate was wonderful! The waitress was attentive without intruding and the chef came to talk to us when we had a question about the meal. I cannot rave enough
I don’t know if my taste buds are different or we had an odd experience here, but my partner and I found the food to be overall on the salty side. We started with steak tartare and focaccia. The steak tartare was on the salty side but bearable. We also had the Cacio E Pepe and the mushroom risotto that were both really salty. Thank God we had drinks to balance out. The best part of the meal was actually the dessert. The tiramisu pancakes were good but a part of the pancake was overcooked and burnt. I have tried a few renowned Italian restaurants in Toronto, but I was a bit disappointed at our experience here in Viaggio. I hope my experience was an odd one.
Food was delicious. Two of us shared one app, one pasta , one main and one dessert - and we loved everything. Service was good as well. The seatings were very close together, and we could overhear nearby conversations clearly. Overall a great experience and will come back.
Phenomenal meal. Excellent value for the price. Risotto was velvety and cooked perfectly. Don't skip on the steak or mushroom crostini. Tiramisu pancakes are worth it. Loved having breakfast for dinner.
Viaggio offers delicious, authentic Italian food that truly delights the palate. The cost of the items reflects the quality of the dishes, making it worth the price. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, creating a lovely setting for a meal. While the service was good overall, the food did take a while to arrive, so be prepared for a leisurely dining experience. That said, Viaggio is a nice place to enjoy quality Italian cuisine, and I would definitely recommend it for anyone craving genuine Italian flavors.
If you need the most effective restaurant service in Canada, go to Viaggio. They can clean up your table and replace your plates in 30 seconds and taking your order while doing the former stuff. The food tastes good and special. They are unlike other ordinary Italian food.
After finishing an event with friends, we noticed this Italian restaurant was nearby and decided to give it a try. We were absolutely blown away by the flavors! The steak tartare paired perfectly with the charred crispy bread – highly recommended. I’m rarely interested in pasta, but their bone marrow mafaldine sauce was exceptional! Our server recommended the funghi pizza, which was also quite good, with a nice smoky flavor from the mushrooms. Although the dessert we ordered was a bit average, I would definitely recommend their main dishes! Also, the dining atmosphere was quite nice in the evening.
Looking for Italian restaurants around Toronto I found this hidden gem located on the north west side of the City, which offers such good quality italian dishes. During patio season they offer outdoor seating in their patio, which you’ll find very cozy and relaxing to enjoy a summer meal. Menu is not large, but enough for you to try different options from salads, antipasti, pasta, pizza or a few mains. I started with the Panzanella, a salad made of juicy and fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, crostini (large bread crumbs) and basil, all dressed with virgin oil vinaigrette. A fresh plate to start a meal There are four different types of pasta, all very well cooked and flavored surprises your taste buds. If you fancy trying some special flavors, I recommend ordering the ravioli. Not a big size plate, but really good job done by the chef. However, if you’re hungry and still wanting to taste a good old traditional recipe, cacio e pepe is the pasta plate I would recommend. Pizzas here are delicious, the cooking point was perfect, not oily, not dry dough, generous toppings and not excessive cheese. The right Napolitan pizzas. I recommend trying the mortadella pizza, adding some burrata. It comes with pistachio sauce which really adds the cherry on top. As dessert, they only have one(two) options. Viaggio’s desser is Tiramisu pancakes. Careful because the size is big! But you can order just one pancake (right amount). Just to warn here that they are called “tiramisu” but they don’t taste like tiramisu. The pancake comes topped with very light mascarpone whipped cream, and with espresso maple syrup ( doesn’t taste like espresso). All dressed with cocoa. For a party of two, I recommend ordering one appetizer (antipasti or salad) , one pizza and one pasta, and a dessert to share. This would give you enough idea of the restaurant cuisine. Price here is very average, and reasonable considering the amount and quality of food they serve ($80 per person). Service is attentive, a bit disorganized at the beginning but nothing to concern about.
I had the best birthday at Viaggio! The vibe was cozy, the service was fantastic, and the staff made me feel super special. The food? Absolutely delicious! Every dish was a hit. I couldn t have asked for a better celebration. Highly recommend!
Steak was terribe
I wasn t planning on leaving a review, but after reading other people s reviews who complained of similar things I couldn t help myself. The food was good but I ve had better Italian food in the city for cheaper. Atmosphere was like most downtown restaurants. This is not why I left this review. Our waiter, Jeremy (Caucasian with glasses and a moustache), had a very short and high handed approach with my group. We re a very diverse group but he managed to bother all of us. Maybe this Michelin stuff got to their head, can t say for sure. However, Jeremy ensured we won t come back.
Amazing, still simply the best. With a gluten conscious kitchen you can feel safe eating here. Dietary restrictions: As a celiac Im very thankful for this place being so carful with my meals.
Unbeatable taste, probably the best sea bass I ve ever had, especially the fish skin, very well salted and crispy.
Booked online and got there and they wouldn t let us use the table because it was too small. Made no sense
Nice little spot in the city! Service was on point and food was great. The Burrata was delicious as was the kale salad. Enjoyed the caccio peppe with nduja. The tiramisu pancakes were a nice finish
THE CHARRED CABBAGE AGRODOLCE WAS INCREDIBLE !!! that s all i wanted to say.
Nice quaint area. Food was great. Waiter was nice. Very chill vibes.
Great little spot, service is always over the top the food is delicious. I would highly recommend if youre debating this place.
Lea is a wonderful server!!! My Fiance and I came here for dinner tonight to celebrate our anniversary after canceling at another restaurant for other reasons. They accommodated us last minute which was great. It was a slow start to the meal but Lea brought over a glass of Prosecco for us to get started in the meantime and wished us a happy anniversary which was super sweet. We ordered a pasta and it tasted slightly burnt and so they took it back and within minutes Lea came over and mentioned she would be taking care of us with a dessert. She brought the tiramisu pancakes and was genuinely such a pleasant person to have take care of us! Honestly as a couple that has been in hospitality for many years, opened restaurants, etc. Lea demonstrated true hospitality and what it means to host people and have great customer service! Hold on to her as there aren t many left! Thank you Lea - we would come back just for you!
Stumbled upon viaggio while in the area for a concert. We had the best meal we ve had in a very long time, possibly ever! Steak tartare was phenomenal, as was my pasta! Service was top notch. Highly recommend!
best pizza crust
I m so full
Tucked away in the city, Viaggio is an Italian haven worthy of its Michelin nod. The fresh pasta, especially the pappardelle and mafaldine, shines. Appetizers like steak tartare and burrata & foccacia were equally impressive. Service is friendly and flawless.
Ive been wanting to come here for over a year and have been saving it up for a special occasion. Made a reservation for a birthday dinner for a group of 4, for my mom whos visiting from abroad. We were led to a patio table and after being there for 20 minutes, we were getting very uncomfortable with the amount of mosquitoes. We inquired if the restaurant had any way to repel mosquitoes/ whether it was possible to get incense or burnt coffee grounds (surely were not the first customers facing this problem) and the waitress was just plain rude and snarky in her response. When we inquired if it was possible to move indoors, we were told with an attitude that theyre short staffed and it would be slower, with a hostile do it if you want tone. I understand that being short-staffed on a Friday night is challenging, but that interaction totally dampened the mood. If I couldve left and gone somewhere else at 9 PM, I would have. 3/5 of the pastas on the menu were bang average for the price point. The zucchini blossoms appetizer was worth recommending. Surprised theyre on the Michelin guide! Im willing to believe they had an off day but I would not recommend or go back.
Servers were nice but hostess had the worst expression. First contact with the restaurant is the hostess and that wasnt a good start. everything we ordered was salty af. not worth the $$$ Food
Awesome place! Great food
-Steak Tartare -Venison Ragu ** -NDuja & Bone Marrow Mafadine -Tiramisu Pancakes -Raw Seabass -Lamb Vindaloo Scarpinocc -Roasted Squash * - Burrata -Tortelloni * -Pici With White Ragu -Cheese and black pepper -Panzanella Salad -Mortadella Pizza -Mushroom Pizza
The appetizer was excellent but the same cannot be said for the main courses. Fairly long wait for the food, bordering on annoying. The pizza was cold, the ravioli was a chewy mess. The steak was rubbery and gristly. Almost inedible. To top it off the waiter never once asked how our meals were. We eat out regularly but won t return here.
This will probably be my go to spot for the fall season. The food was amazing, the service was great! Our server gave us great recommendations and answered all of our questions. Defiantly a place Id recommend.
Absolutely yes !!!!!
Really great dining experience at Viaggio. I started off with a double espresso and it was really robust and crisp. Woke my senses right up for the pleasure they were about to experience. To start, I had the steak tartare and my friend had the capicola carpaccio. The tartare was done beautifully. The capicola was better. It had so many flavour notes: rich, savory, salty, and a bit of acid from the pickled element. The team here nailed both dishes. For the mains, I had the bone marrow with nduja ragu and my friend had the cacio e pepe with nduja sausage. Both solid dishes and would order again but the cacio e pepe with nduja was next level creative. It was creamy, each bite exploded with flavour of pepper, spice, and savory notes. The star of the show was the Tiramisu pancakes. The show stopper, the Lebron James of deserts. Jesus Christ it makes me want to go to church again. It makes me want to climb to the top of the CN tower and yell to people how good that dish was. It was 2 buttermilk soufle thick pancakes. East meets West. They went Japanese with the thickness. Then they drizzled it with an espresso infused maple syrup. To top it off, they did a mascarpone whip cream out of this space aged whip cream dispenser. Epic! The desert was also prepared table side and had to be ordered 30 minutes in advance to its specific preparation process. Worth it. Vegetarian options: Pizza Funghi, Cacio e pepe. Parking: There is paid street parking on Dundas. However, if you drive on the side streets near dundas and read all the signs, you can find free parking.
Excellent meal. The service was superb. The beef tartare and the smashed cucumber were superb. The tiramisu pancakes are an absolute must. The only comment was the hanger steak was slightly too chewy but that is our only point of critique in what was otherwise a superb meal.
We loved everything about our visit but cucumber and melon salad was surprisingly the star of the show. My new favourite salad in Toronto, I m obsessed!
The food, service and atmosphere were fantastic! Everything we ordered was very tasty, but the ravioli dish was to die for!!
Was there on the 14th of August 2024 and I have to say this restaurant is absolutely one of the worst places Ive eaten. The waitress was very professional but the food was below ordinary. I wonder how they got a Michelin star.
Amazing Italian restaurant the vibes were on point. A break from the traditional italian setting, without compromising on the classics. The pasta dishes and apps were amazing and memorable. My regret was not ordering the Tiramisu Pancakes but no worries because Ill be back for sure.
Amazing food and great + quick service. Menu is small but you can tell that theyre focusing on the quality and goodness of what they serve.
Made a reservation based on a recommendation from a friend and I m very glad we did. The steak tartare was amazing and the tiramisu pancakes were fantastic. All the dishes we tried were great.
Tiramisù pancake is ridiculously good
The food was alright. Not worth the price for it. The service was terrible. Our server sat us and didnt acknowledge us after. We were planning on ordering dessert but waited for over 30 minutes and no one came to check on us. We ended up asking for the check and left
The food was ok but extremely over priced. The burrata was really good, the sauce for the spaghetti with shrimp was good but the pasta itself did not taste homemade. The service was very bad. I will say that we were the only non white people there, so Im not sure if others had a better experience. We were left waiting for a long time to even start ordering. We were going to order dessert but gave up because no one would come to acknowledge us. I will say it is a very overrated place.
Negroni à la pizza and pasta. Delicious all! Great service during a beautiful violet hour Food
Ive been here a couple of times and each time I come in and leave with a smile. Amazing food, so well prepared! You can tell that people are passionate about making the food, you can tell the love that is put into it. The service is friendly, and the location and atmosphere is very elegant. Not to mention the Tiramisu Pancakes! Yummy! If I could give more than 5 stars I would!
Nice vibes and comfy outdoor patio. The pasta we tried (N Duja and the clam pasta) were amazing and hit the spot. The steak tartare was probably my favourite item we had. I m not a dessert person, so I ll just say the tiramisu pancakes were good.
Try Tiramisu )) with espresso
food, service, atmosphere - fabulous.
Great food and service in a cozy setting. The veal sweetbreads wrapped in cured speck and cotechino tortelloni were good. There are 3 dessert options and a cheese plate for those that want savoury items. Ordered the pear frangipane tart with almond cream and wine poached pears and it was delicious. (2019 visit) Went back for a second time in 2024 and the service felt rushed. The mafaldine with nduja sausage was good though.
Wow, one of the best Italian spots I have been to in the city
One of the best meals I have eaten! Everything was perfect Food
easily my fave restaurant in the city
Great experience. Lasagna and duck breast are fantastic. Great cocktails as well Food
Our group had an incredible experience at Viaggio last night. The staff were generous, kind and attentive. We ordered the family style dinner and everything was an absolute hit! The food is amazing!! I can t wait to eat there again!! Thanks Viaggio for a fantastic evening!
The food was so so tasty! The burrata + focaccia and the tiramisu pancakes were better than I was even expected for. The gnocchi was really tasty too. The lasagna needed a dash of salt but it was otherwise really tasty. And Marian (Maryan?) our waiter was a delight.
Incredible pasta - had the malfadine and the cacio e Pepe. Started with the potato fonduta that was absolutely decadent. Service is so welcoming and room is so cozy.
One of my favourite restaurants in Toronto. Food is incredible and service is top tier. Highly recommend to anybody looking for a place to dine. Don t skip out on this place and if you can get Eric as your server 10/10
Great food and service. We ordered steak tartare - great, with a spicy kick focaccia - meh lasagna - delicious, well balanced and tiramisu pancakes - simply amazing
We enjoyed our visit to Viaggio. The staff was very nice, someone even fixed a wiggly table unasked. The burrata was amazing. I found both pastas we got a bit on the rich side, could only eat a small amount, but they were enjoyable on reheat at home. Washroom pictures provided, very clean individual non gendered rooms, down a staircase but a reasonable one, not too steep for comfort like other downtown places.
Overall great restaurant and ambiance. Came here for a birthday celebration for 6 people. Steak tartare and brussel sprouts were favourites. Everyone seemed to enjoy their pasta. My only critique is that there was non-existent nduja sausage added to the cacio e Pepe for +$6 such that I had to ask if the waitress took down my order with the sausage, but realized it was the bits sprinkled into the cheese. Service felt rushed; we felt the boot at 1.5 hrs service time despite 2 hr seating in the reservation.
Overall the experience was ok but below our expectations. Food was missing something. Artic char was really nice but the steak tartare and Mafaldine had room for improvement. Scallops had a nice sear and were cooked really well but the dish was a little lack lustre for $42 and 4 scallops. Service was polite but rushed and and the food itself was a bit slow. The ambience is warm and moody but the table are way too cramped and the space is super loud, we couldn t even talk much during dinner Would not return
The burrata with focaccia and pistachio gnocchi are unreal. Great ambiance, attentive service
This place is amazing, all the food we tried was delicious. Would definitely say come here.
Amazing experience - a true hidden gem! The Bone Marrow Pasta is to die for and definitely would be coming back!
A 5-star culinary experience for sure although the pasta dished didn t catch my palate (deep, savoury). The appetizers were phenomenal. The sea bass was served ceviche style and the beef tartare was perfect temperature and topped with a graceful heat. Downsides are that it s a very tight, cafeteria seating set up with a very rush-rush dine and order.
had an excellent meal here celebrating a friends birthday this past weekend. the heritage salad, mafaldine pasta and tiramisu pancakes were absolutely ridiculous!
Food was amazing, not bad wait time and great service.
We enjoyed a wonderful meal here. The focaccia was delicious. They make pasta in the back which was splendid and we enjoyed the dessert. We ll be back
Really delicious food and wonderful service. It s a cozy restaurant with a lovely vibe. The pancakes were to die for. We also had the warm baby gem salad, focaccia, the duck, and the tortelli. All of it was super delicious, but the standouts were the baby gem salad and the tortelli for us. The only con was that everything was very pricy, so keep that in mind. I would say the value wasn t necessarily good because the portions were pretty small. But we were satisfied at the end of the meal, so can t complain.
Was attracted to Viaggio by the famous tiramisu pancakes but was blown away by our meal from start to finish. Our server, Helen, was so thoughtful, knowledgeable and kind - she truly enhanced the experience for us. Surprising star for me was the blood orange salad - incredibly bright and balanced. Goes without saying that the burrata and focaccia is exceptional. Thanks so much for a great evening.
This place looks great. Small and dark. Good mood lighting. The restrooms also looked nice and they were clean. The food was good. We had the burrata and focaccia to start. Both were delicious and I enjoyed the different flavours mixed with the burrata. We ordered two pastas ( cavatelli & tortelli ) Both were delicious and very unique tasting. We ordered the dessert in advance ( tiramisù pancakes ) because they take a while to make. So we suggest you ordered them at the same time as the main. Once you do that the servers can gage when you are going to want it served. The espresso was not great, but not horrible. I would go back here again to try different things and they also change the menu every few months. Also I learned you can order the dessert in half the size. This is highly recommend because the pancakes are so huge and thick that for someone who can eat a lot, I struggled ro finish them.
The tiramisu pancakes are to die for! The entire meal was so tasty and reasonably priced, 100% will be coming back!
Very disappointing, didnt live up to the hype. *Food: It was decent but seemed to be overpriced, specially the pancakes (its literally 2 pancakes with whipping cream and syrups) -Burrata -Mafaldine -Scallops (3 scallops) -Tiramisu Pancakes *Service: Understaffed, very slow. She gaves us wrong table, wrong wine. *Atmosphere: Cozy but tables were tooooo close to each other. Felt like we are sharing a table with a couple next to us.
Very underwhelming menu, and experience. We came here to celebrate something and ended up leaving early. Orange wine came warm and no ice in the bucket to keep the bottle cold, very few food options, and seating next to the kitchen table wasn t comfortable at all. If the food was outstanding I would ve understand why should I put up with the inconvenience but to be honest it was just okay so I didn t see any value for my money.
Follow @bredgyeats for more food photos! Beef Tartare - A beef tartare thats the perfect appetizer for sharing, served with buttery baguette crisps that contrast the tenderness of the beef. Filled with your usually accoutrements like chives, cornichons, worcestershire and shallots for a mellow but balanced taste. Casconelli - Then its like a cresendo, each dish better than the last. The unique dumpling like shape provides a perfect al dente chew and is filled with a pork and beef filling. Paired with a bite of the umami rich hen of woods that also happen to cling onto the lemony, umami rich jus results in an addicting bite that is practically inseparable. NDuja and Bone Marrow Mafaldine - Mafaldine is my new favourite pasta shape which is again cooked to a beautifully chewy but soft texture, with ample surface area to grab onto the addicting sauce. The sauce is made of tangy tomatoes whose umami combines nicely with the smokiness savoriness of the nduja, and the rich fragrance of the bone marrow. It was like falling into a well with how profound the flavour profile was, especially with a grating of fresh parmesan cheese for some sharpness and charred rapini for a layer of bitterness.
Our experience this evening was absolutely terrible! We booked a reservation for NYE , over a week in advance. The reservation was confirmed by the restaurant 3 times, including today, on our way there. We arrived on time, but we stood at the front for minutes with servers walking past us as if we werent even there! When someone was nearby, after a few minutes I had to mention that we were waiting for a table, and had a reservation already for 6pm. They seated us in a dining area with a booth and table that was set up to be shared, and we were immediately squeezed in between two large parties, with a speaker BLARING music right above our heads. NOT romantic at all, think more CAFETERIA. On top, once we were seated, we waited, and watched as they seated two more parties, completely ignoring my wife and I on drinks or appetizers, even though other tables were getting at least that After about 15 minutes of sitting awkwardly, trying to get a servers attention, we were eventually able to get some water. Not even going to get into the menu. The service in the first 20 minutes were there was SO bad, we decided just to have the glass of wine we ordered with our water, and leave. When we wanted to leave, instead of my coat being downstairs where they had told me it was when we were seated, it turned out to be on the upstairs rack under a pile of other jackets and coats, and they handed me a womans coat that wasnt mine or my wifes at all! WE both had to dig through the pile of jackets at the front just to find mine! In any case, one of the WORST restaurant experiences I have ever had in this city, or anywhere. Please AVOID, especially if you want a nice night out with your partner or spouse. Disappointing is not even scratching the surface. TO the OWNERS of Viaggio - you DONT deserve the Michelin rating that you have so proudly displayed at the front of your restaurant, and IF things were better when you got that designation in 2022, you have let things fall apart, from the staff, to the atmosphere, and thats a BIG part of running a restaurant. After our experience tonight, all we can hope for is a better 2024 ahead, because this was the WORST way to end 2023. There were so many other places and things we could have done this evening instead. Wish it hadnt been here.
Always delish....and Sandras awesome.
Citrus salad was exquisite.
I had an opportunity to visit Viaggio last night and I was not disappointed. The atmosphere, the food and the service were all exceptional. Every dish tasted amazing and made you want more. I would definitely return to here for another meal. I highly recommend it.
Really outstanding experience and the food was great
Very intimate restaurant with amazing food! The service is not only helpful but also QUICK. The food comes out and it is delicious. Would definitely come back (albeit with a very small group of 2)
Amazing food experience workers and vibe. A true gem in toronto with amazing food!!
Impeccable experience. Cannot reccomend enough. Friendly, skilled staff, and delicious food.
Food was pretty good, got the casoncelli which was great and the tiramisu pancakes which were also very good. Service a bit slow
I ve come here plenty of times at this point and every time I think, Wow, that was an incredible meal! . You seriously can t go wrong with anything on the menu. The duck is especially noteworthy. Staff are lovely. Drink selection is good. And prices are fair. I couldn t recommend this place more!
Ok
Viaggio is one of my go-to restaurants in the city. Everything on their menu is amazing! I love their steak tartar and so many of their pastas. The service has also been amazing every time. When the weather is better I enjoy their patio which is tucked away and imitate, just a nice place to spend an evening.
The tiramisu pancakes are out of this world good! The salads are divine. The focaccia bread moist and so incredible. Everything is magnificent. Not many vegetarian options though.
We went to Viaggio for a birthday dinner after passing it in the neighborhood many times and always being curious to try it. And boy are we very glad we did! The food was delicious from the Burrata to our mains of the Venison Ragu and the Beef Cheek Polenta. The portions were also quite generous, which is always appreciated when paying for more upscale dining. The tiramisu pancakes were also very tasty, and extremely filling after our earlier meals. We were definitely glad we shared it! The waitress kindly brought it out with a candle as well after a sneaky request while the birthday boy was in the washroom. We also had delicious mocktails crafted by the bartender after we inquired about non-alcoholic options. My only feedback would be that they should be placed on the menu so that someone looking could know they are available without asking. We were worried wed have to stick to water! The dinner was a wonderful experience and were only sad we cant afford to go more often! It will definitely be kept in mind for future special occasions.
Service was not so special but the food was amazing. Beef tartar was so delicious and the Duck was perfectly cooked. Try triamissu pancake for sure. It doesn t taste like tiramisu but it takes sooo good. :)
I love how cozy and intimate Viaggio is and it s more further out from the busier restaurant scenes in Toronto. Food was delicious. I forgot to take a photo of my favourite pasta which was the Venison Ragu. It was so tasty, light but also filling at the same time. The N duja and Bone Marrow Malfaldine had a stronger flavour and smokiness to it; couldn t taste the bone marrow as much as I wanted to but still good. If you order the Burrata, bread doesn t come with it so it s an additional $5 for their focaccia but it was so worth it. I had to order the Tiramisu Pancakes and order these when you order everything else because it takes 20 minutes to prep. Service was okay. I thought the servers weren t too attentive and our waiter actually forgot to punch in one of our orders - the Veal Ragu which is why I forgot to take the picture but overall, I had a good time here and left with a very satisfied belly.
Came here because of the 5 star reviews. It was our first time and I thought my husband would enjoy it as it was for his birthday. He was expecting a larger menu, but was disappointed that there were such few choices. The server came across as quite pretentious and I felt awkward having to ask her to explain items on the menu. I just ended up googling the names of the dishes to get an idea of what they would look like. I ordered the CACIO E PEPE with N duja. I asked the server if N duja meant meat and she confirmed it was but didnt explain that the meat is part of the sauce and that there arent actual chunks of proper meat in the dish. When it arrived I was disappointed I paid $30 for plain pasta with too much sauce. My husband wasnt too impressed with the BRAISED BEEF CHEEKS he ordered as well. I asked the same server for a cocktail that could be made sweet to which she replied that none of them could be made sweet but it would be possible if I ordered the 365 SPRITZ. It tasted bitter and it seems they didnt even try and make it sweet which is what I requested. Only two things we liked about this place was the decor and the TIRAMISU PANCAKES. The pancakes are super heavy so keep that in mind. If youve had a heavy dinner, the pancakes will be too much. Wont be coming back here again.
Went to this restaurant because of the amazing reviews and all of the TikToks I ve seen of the pancakes. I got the n duja bone marrow pasta and it tasted very burnt and was very hard to finish. The tiramisu pancakes looked nice and was okay. Could ve been we went on a bad day but wasn t very impressed with the food.
Outstanding service and quality :)
Lovely place, with fairy atmosphere, and touch of Parmesan smell all around, excellent service, comfy sofas and delicious food. We ordered 3 different pastas and all of them were absolutely delicious. Burata with figs and caramelized nuts was insane, can t stop dreaming of the moment I ll come back and indulge myself with one more peace of it:)
Getting a reservation at Viaggio was tough on a Saturday night but it was worth it. An intimate space where the food takes centre stage. I can sense that what I ordered was made with love and care. There are a few vegetarian options. Unfortunately, I couldn t stay for dessert. May be next time.
Incredible experience here. They had attentive friendly staff and very informative! I ordered the venison Ragu and it quite honestly was the best dinner Ive ever had in my life. And of course the pancakes were delicious :) Recommend to anyone!!
Best service
We had an excellent experience. Great service, and delicious food. Everything was made to perfection....and the foccacia...forget about it!
We had the most delicious meal at Viaggio! The atmosphere is so charming and the staff is incredibly helpful and friendly. The food is to die for!! The Cacio E Pepe was so perfectly seasoned and cheesy with a delightful textured pasta. The Pear and Fontina Crostini tasted like thanksgiving in toast form and was so comforting and delicious. Already looking forward to coming back and trying the rest of the menu. Dont miss out on this hidden gem!
We loved the pasta and the tiramisu pancake! The nduja pasta was flavorful. The cheese and pepper pasta was great for sharing. Would come again for sure.
Its a gem. The food is just refreshingly good. Very very good experience.
Intimate and cool environment with an imaginative menu and attentive staff.
The chef is a veritable genius.
Enjoyed the food a lot! Friendly stuff, nice food, nice vibe! Only thing, the lamb pasta portion is a bit small
The dishes were delicious perfectly executed and totally worth it. Great service. Highly recommend the Spaghetti Alla Nerano dont miss to try the focaccia it will melt in your mouth.
Parking: It was my first visit... Not welcoming..the owner ...noticed we dont have a reservation ...did not even try to find us a table......not rude ...but not like the owner who cares about a customers at all.... when most of the time the tables were empty... Not a good experience...not a good service ...not recomding it to enybody.
Viaggio has a warm and welcoming ambience, with an acceptable amount of west-end Toronto pretentiousness. Came here with my partner and another couple on Feb 3 after reading some good reviews. Good Italian restaurants are hard to find in the city. Balancing quality ingredients and maintaining simplicity is never easy. Viaggio missed the mark on the latter. We started with focaccia and olives which were excellent. Bread was piping hot and fresh and the olives were firm and flavourful. We all shared the burrata and figs, fennel and orange salad and tartare. Quality of Buratta was great but overpowered by the mound of crushed candied pecans that were heaped on top. Figs were excellent and accompanied the cheese nicely; if only they let the cheese shine. The fennel and orange salad was awful - over salted with only 3-4 pieces of orange which would have cut the saltiness. The tartare was the standout. High quality beef, perfectly seasoned and the bread was great. I ordered the casoncelli and my partner, the signature mafaldine and paired it with a nebiolo. The casoncelli was excellent, the filling in the pasta was delicious, the mushrooms, perfectly cooked and the jus was delectable. The nebiolo paired incredibly well. My partners mafaldine didn t match up. The charred rapini gave the entire dish a strong burnt flavour that made it inedible, even after we brought it home. I didnt want to create a scene so I decided not to mention it to the staff. After calling them with the feedback, they responded to me on OpenTable, saying that they were sorry I felt that way. I wonder if they would have said that if I spoke up during the meal. I would have expected at least a drink or app on the house for a future visit but that would be expecting too much. Even a phone call would have been nice. I have eaten enough pasta to know when something is off or burnt. What do customers know, anyway? We finished with the tiramisu pancakes - a Canadian rendition on an Italian classic. It wasnt bad, just a bit contrived. Pancakes were well cooked and mousse was delicious. The espresso syrup was on the thick side and gave it an artificial flavour. Overall, Viaggio is a mixed bag. Misses, hits and pretentious response from the restaurant make it 2/5 for me.
So good !!!
Beautiful spot, best food in the city.
I had a great experience here! The food was great. I had the rabbit saltimbocca, and it was delicious! The tiramisu pancakes were amazing. The service was fantastic and they added a lot to the experience! I highly recommend treating yourself if you dont mind spending a bit more $$ its really worth it!
Nice place, great service. Apps were delicious especially the burrata and the sea bass. Had the rabbit, meh..too salty tbh. The fish is alright! Should have stuck with their signature pasta. Parking can be a bummer here, but you can make it work. Overall decent food and okay cocktails. Price is a bit steep.
Been coming here since discovering the patio during the start of the pandemic. The staff are great and food never disappoints. Highly recommend for a special night out with friends and family.
A fantastic cozy lil place. High quality ingredients, perfectly cooked, and the service was great without being overtly saccharine or nosy. You just knew you were in good hands. Regardless of what you order, the tiramisu pancakes are a MUST.
An incredible culinary experience with the most outstanding services we have ever experienced. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Amazing food with a great Italian/German influence.
Dined here in April 2023 & celebated a birthday. Entrées & appetizers were excellent!! Steak Tartar was incredibly delish & tasting it for the first time I never knew uncooked beef could taste so amazing. Cucumber & Dill Salad was splendid & large enough to share. My spouse, who detests beans surprisingly ate them all & talked about how incredible they tasted. We all ordered a lovely pasta (Gramigna) & I knew I could not eat it all as my portion was large. And then it happened. I stared at my empty bowl & I wondered how I ate the whole thing. It certainly tasted better than any pasta I have eaten throughout Italy. Overall, I recommend Viaggio for fine dining. I would definitely return but only after their seating is improved. Sitting on bistro chairs was so uncomfortable & gave me an incredible backache that night & for the next four days.
Great first time dining in at Viaggio. For two, we ordered the Focaccia, Seabass Crudo, Cacio E Pepe (+ NDuja) and for dessert, the Pistachio Torte. Perfect amount of food and amazing contrast in flavours and textures. Pasta was cooked perfectly. Great cocktail menu as well. My favourite was the Cacio E Pepe and Seabass Crudo. Ill be back. Really great date spot with nice intimate ambiance and decor. One of the better Italian restaurants Ive been to in Toronto.
My wife and I wandered into this place by accident, and had a spectacular meal. We sat at the bar, and were regaled, by Jimmy, with tales of Plymouth while we ate AMAZING food. The cauliflower over a tomato chutney was one of the most memorable dishes Ive had for a while -- get some focaccia to mop up all the sauce. The spinach pasta with zucchini was also really memorable. Thyme ice cream with pistachio cake? Genius. Negronis were premixed and perfect. The atmosphere, located in a house, added a coziness to the whole experience. This is one of the most striking meals Ive had in some time. Really terrific place.
Everything was amazing but it was the rabbit that completely stole the show!! Will be back in a heartbeat everything had a rich browned butter sauce and browned butter = love.
Ive dined here 3 times now. The thing that keeps me coming back is their cacio e pepe. Their focaccia is great, but one time they served it to us cold. Big fan of the steak tartare and the tiramisu pancakes. One server did rub me the wrong way. I had a friend visiting from out of town, the restaurant was virtually empty besides one other occupied table. We were taking pictures and selfies and the server made it a point to let us know there was a time limit on dining. As if we were going to spend our whole time there just taking pictures...
Viaggio is well named as it will take you on trip of tasty treats and remind you of times eating in great restaurants in Italy. My partner and I decided on doing all the courses and each dish was superbly prepared with deep complex flavours and beautifully presented. My absolute favourite dish was the N Duja and Bone Marrow Mafaldine and would recommend it to anyone. I would suggest if going the traditional route, including dessert, share the starter and Primi, otherwise you will need a long walk. Lol. The portions are larger than you might expect. There is a lot of care to make sure your time at Viaggio is the best it can be. That s true for the kitchen and also waitstaff.
Location is good for eating delicious food.
An amazing spot for date night or a fun night with friends. Amazing dishes and you have to try the tiramisu pancakes topped with espresso maple syrup, you will not regret it! It s a smaller more intimate place so would recommend booking a reso ahead of time.
This Dundas West neighbourhood resto is as charming as it is delicious. The dining room is cozy and narrow giving the feeling of being in a (generously spacious) train car; in warmer weather sitting on the patio is a lovely option. Staff are friendly and attentive, ready to assist with the menu if necessary. We like to order to share. Everything I ve ever tried is excellent and the menu often changes, inspiring frequent visits (though the cucumber salad always seems available and I truly think it s fabulous with the cool, creamy, nutty and smooth hits!). The tiramisu pancakes are exceptional however they are FILLING so if you re going down that road, hold back a little at dinner (box up those leftovers!!!) because you ll want to finish those fluffy hotcakes at the table.
Ordered the warmed olives to start, bone marrow ragu pasta, and the tiramisu pancakes. The ragu pasta was nothing special, and the tiramisu pancakes were just dry buttermilk pancakes with maple syrup. Service was incredibly slow, waited about 20 mins to be seated despite the fact we had a reservation. Server was a bit hostile. A disappointment to say the least.
Beautiful restaurant with delicious food. The Nduja pasta was delicious. The chicken Tikka and mortadella pasta was excellent. The only problem was it took almost 40mins for our order to get to the table which was very annoying. Food
The best burrata we ve ever had. Highly recommend it along with the focaccia.
Lots of people seem to enjoy the place. We went on a saturday during lunch time, and the only way to get in was through reservation ahead of time. We got lucky and was able to find a seat in the bar area, which was fine. The pasta I ordered honestly was really bad. Like it tasted worse than just store bought pasta. It was very stale and very hard to eat. Maybe it was overcooked. The sauce was better, but I would say not worth the price and hype Edit: In response to the owner. Typo in what I meant as lunch. I did not have lunch and this is what I counted as lunch. The actual time of when I was there was around 5:45pm.
Viaggio restaurant provided a wonderful atmosphere for my parents anniversary celebration. The food, including the Pasta and Pizza, was excellent, but the standout was the mouthwatering tiramisu dessert with an impressive chefs performance. I will definitely return when Im in town again.
Had a corporate event at Viaggio. We got to sample a few appetizers, pasta and a couple of main courses. Everything was fantastic... a mix of simplistic excellence and refined variations on classics ... desserts were also a real treat. All accompanied by outstanding service and great wine. Id go back! Food
Small menu with awesome food. Good service. Nice patio.
Had several excellent dishes: burrata and focaccia appies, pizza, two pastas and pork. Simple Italian done really, really well. And great service. Will definitely return.
we order a tiramisu pancake, and it was sooo legittttt and yum. remember to save some space for your belly for this dessert
The best meal I have had in a really long time. Food and service were excellent. Will be back again soon.
One of my favourites in the city. Unmatchable flavours across all their dishes in a cozy setting. The Gramigna primavera is perfection!
Wonderful service, excellent food, pancake dessert the best. Every dish was the best we ever tasted and all creatively different. Unique pastas all made in house, with gorgeous colours Food
We had a beautiful dining experience at Viaggio on their gorgeous patio. Their pastas were soooo flavourful, rich, and delicious and it was my first time finding a gluten-free Cacio e pepe so I was ecstatic! I also want to highlight their gluten free brioche which was also incredibly yummy Dietary restrictions: Yummy gluten free options including gluten free pasta!
Perfect Italian food!
You know this is one of your favourite restsurants when you keep coming back! Yet another amazing meal at Viaggio and serviceis always on point! Grilled Asparagus - perfect combo with the prosciutto! Focaccia - a must-have to soak up the sauce! Cape Breton Shrimp Risotto - the shrimp bisque is just crazy good! Nduja & Bone Marrow Mafaldine - yum...can never get enough of this! Yogurt Panna Cotta - a perfect lighter dessert to end the night.
Food tastes amazing and the portions can look misleading because we were stuffed with one pasta dish each. The cacio e pepe was very rich and the pancakes are a must. Servers are some of the nicest Ive ever dined with.
Fantastic pizza, focaccia, and burrata. Cozy outdoor vibe. High recommend.
Viaggio is a delicious and dependable restaurant. We sat inside and it is extremely charming. Staff are very kind and knowledgeable. We had two starters and a pasta dish each. Pastas we re all incredible. The only drawback is that we have been coming to Viaggio for a few years now and the prices have increased significantly. All pastas are 30$+. A nice treat for a special occasion but be prepared to spend a lot.
Every item we ordered was better than the one before! Don t pass up on the beef tartar and the fennel and orange salad for starters. They both paired so well together. The cocktails were fun and bold and were a sweet palate refresher between courses. Saved the best for last - the chicken tikka pizza. We were definitely surprised by how good the pairing was! Fusion food at its finest - both elements were executed perfectly. Highly recommend giving this hidden gem a try!
Great place to have a drink, dine, or just hang with friends. The staff are efficient and knowledgeable and arent constantly checking in, allowing you to enjoy the atmosphere. Food
Had dinner here yesterday and it was great. The crust of the pizza and the texture of the pasta were especially good. I will be coming back.
Price way to high for the quality of food, wait time and disgusting washroom.
Incredible food. The service was great and the food came at a perfect pace. Each dish was unique and diverse. We loved the food. The pancakes were our favorite
My wife and I return to this gem often. It offers, arguably one of the best patios in the city, especially during the summer evenings in one of the best neighbourhoods in the city. The cocktails are on point and every item on the menu is worth a try and yes have tried everything, like i said, we return often.
Food was amazing. Serving size are little smaller but they also charge accordingly. In my opinion it is better, because then you can try few different items rather than one single meal.
Honestly can t go back, maybe for a drink. Food was greasy - and I ordered pasta. Food : 1/5
Amazing food!!! Just DO NOT get pizza. First time we were here, we got the mushroom pizza and it was horrible - tasted nothing like Italian pizza, and more like American pizza. But the second time we visited, everything was phenomenal. There pasta game is really strong. The squid ink was great, the bonemarrow was great, and the stuffed pasta with fish and potato (no longer on the menu) were also great. All pastas 5/5 Burrata 5/5, and sea bass crudo also 5/5. Focaccia 5/5. Tiramisu pancake, meh, 3/5. Service was ok, a bit pushy, so it felt weird, like being forced to get more things than what we needed. But in the end, the quality of food trumped it all. Would definitely recommend this to anyone (Except for pizza).
I organized a birthday dinner for 10 people at Viaggio and it was incredible! Very generous servings - which was very appreciated! They were very accommodating to dietary restrictions as well (celiac)
We ordered the Focaccio, Cacio E Pepe, Bone Marrow Mafaldine, and the Tiramisu Pancakes. The pastas were VERY salty and undercooked. We couldn t even finish the two plates we ordered because they were so salty we got through maybe half but barely. There was another person who said the same thing in their review and they were 100% right. The servers were friendly but they were not checking on the customers and were more engaged in their own conversations w each other. Overall, the quality of the food and the service in consideration w the price, it was def not worth it. Will not be returning unfortunately.
Delicious food and cocktails in a cozy chic atmosphere!
I was really disappointed with this restaurant. Went there for my 30th birthday. I ordered the N DUJA AND BONE MARROW MAFALDINE and it was incredibly salty. The waiter wasnt really helpful either. I was trying to seek help with menu as it was my first day coming there and his response was what is there is what is there. One of the worst experience I have had in terms of restaurants in Toronto.
I had heard incredible things about this place so we were excited to try it! The service was a disappointment but I m still giving five stars as I assume it was an off day. It took a while for someone to come to the table, we got water and no water glasses, the girl serving us was super cold and not very knowledge on the menu, but the food was good! We had the zucchini flowers, the spaghetti alla nerano and the ribeye. All delicious! Would definitely return to try some other pastas and the pizza also looked great.
Had the GTL cocktail, which was probably the most balanced and delicious drink Ive had at a restaurant. The kicker tho, the chicken tikka pizza, is among the most magically delicious things Ive ever eaten. 2023 has been a hard year for the world, but this pizza will make you believe in humanity again.
Toronto is loitered with fancy Italian spots which affluent young folks seeking some form of validation from their peers when flexing where they eat seem to crave. Viaggio escapes that, while pulling off the difficult balancing act of being a higher-end fine-dining spot with both authentic and innovative dishes, while remaining quaint, cozy, and unpretentious, with just the right amount of rustic charm and elegance without going overboard. Of all the higher-end Italian spots Ive been in/around the cities core, I think Viaggio is my favourite for the aforementioned reasons. They balance things well. Most every dish Ive had over the few visits Ive made has been excellent, save for the pizzas, which were by no means even remotely mediocre, but were outshone by the pastas and other things. Also, their tiramisu pancakes are a GOAT of deserts. Service and ambiance are perfect. Looking forward to my next visit.
Went for dinner with some friends here when they were visiting. The food was absolutely fantastic. The starters, main courses and desserts were all equally great! Our server Marion was so friendly and made us feel right at home. Would highly recommend this place for unique delicious Italian food if you are in Toronto.
This is my favourite hidden gem on the west end. The italian food is the best in the city and I am a die hard pasta lover. The menu changes always surprise us and we have been coming here for years! Also cant forget the fab service staff. Thanks Viaggio!
Tiramisu pancakes were amazing and the service was truly excellent.
Beyond expectations, delicious food and drinks, highly recommend
Food is OK. Pizza was probably the best! Beer selection is limited. And no beer on tap, only cans.
The food is amazing, and very great service. the patio is sooo nice amazing ambiance. Truly a gem in the west end. I have been twice within a month, the Cacio e Pepe is incredible, and the cocktails are super fun but also classic, perfect
Tried this place for the first time tonight and had the best time. The food is incredible, literally everything we ordered was a 10/10. My personal favourites were the funghi pizza, griglia vongole and tiramisu pancakes. The pancakes are a must have! Do not skip those, theyre the best in the city. Roxy, the manager, was lovely! Highly recommend this place and we will definitely be back.
Delicious food! The tiramisu pancakes are to die for. Other favourites were the Gramigna, Alla Nerano, and Tartufo. Roxy, our server, was fantastic and took great care of us
The passion of the chef and server was evident in all the dishes that we tried. Hand down one of the best places to have fantastic real Italian food in Toronto. The only thing that mar the experience was a table of extremely loud group of women behind us. We had to repeat our order to the server multiple times to be heard. It was incredible how unaware they were of how annoyed every other table was of their in consideration. This is no fault of the restaurant.
Came here for our anniversary dinner last night and everything was on point from the service to the food. The Cacio e pepe was a little too al dente for my liking but otherwise, it was delicious ...as was everything else :)
By far and away the best restaurant service Ive ever had. Make sure to leave room for the tiramisu pancakes!!
Really lives up to the hype, great portions and authentic taste
I mean if you like elevated Italian food then this place is a must. Save room for the tiramisu Pancakes
Wonderful dining experience!
Great service and food!
Avocado toast was like Okonomiyaki Sourdough bread was really good. I wish I can buy whole bread.
Honestly the food is very good. Otherwise, the venue inevitably screams Covid paranoid in 2023. No indoor seating in September, no physical menus... And the vibe would be really pleasant if it was not for the shotty temporary tent still covering the patio. I may have thought of the pandemic as a fading memory.... But not when visiting here.
My new favourite restaurant in town. The Tiramisu pancakes are incredible
Excellent Italian food and service with a very cute outdoor patio. Highly recommend for a date night or to celebrate a special occasion. Ingredients are high quality and everything was delicious.
Delicious food, good service and nice patio! Loved the mafadine pasta! It was our favourite out of the pasta dishes we ordered. Pizza was great to share. The wine list was nice - maybe could benefit to have at least one less expensive option. The least expensive bottle was 80 . Would go back!
The best!
Italian food as it should be. Neighborhood staple for a few years now. Amazing patio and friendly staff...some might think the strict 2hr dinner timeline is bad but you have to take into consideration that theyre only open from 5-10pm and that leaves a small windown to make money. My experiences there has always been memorable. I cant recommend it enough.
Food was great! I highly recommend the Roasted Squash, N duja and Bond Marrow Mafaldine, and Scallop. The Scallop was the highlight of the show, one of or if not the best I ve had in Toronto. It was seared perfectly so that the delicate flavour was preserved. The scallop sauce was slightly over salted and the roasted squash could use lemon or chili peppers to cut the heaviness of the dish. Once again, I would highly recommend this place for some great food!
Good food, nice and cozy atmosphere. Reasonably priced. Loved the pancake dessert. Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly Wheelchair accessibility: Not accessible
Amazing Spaghetti Ala Nerano!
