Flavourful. Delicious. Fair prices. Amazing service. Rare wine (one of 14 World heritage UNESCO Winery sites). On the Michelin Bib Gourmand list too!

Service, food, and atmosphere are awesome. Getting to the east end can be a wee bit challenging (bless you city of Toronto and TTC), but the service is perfection and 100% worth an hour+ commute from Parkdale. Share all the food, and try as many menu items as possible. You won't regret it.

The food was nothing but amazing. The first dish I would recommend is the corn agnolotti. The corn agnolotti is likely the most flavourful thing in Toronto. The corn agnolotti was creamy and sweet, while having a small kick in one half of it, and the other half being sweet. The cucumber salad was, as well, incredibly good, and, like the agnolotti, is a must have. The sauce on the side was refreshing and tangy, making it hard to stop eating it. 10/10!!

I personally love open kitchens, so being able to watch the chefs work their magic was a huge plus for me. The food was absolutely incredible! It’s been a few days, and I still vividly remember the flavors of every dish. We ended up ordering two rounds because we couldn’t resist trying more from the menu. The staff was super friendly, and the vibe was great with a clean, welcoming atmosphere.

Loved our experience at Wynona! Beautiful restaurant, excellent service. Our server recommended amazing wines and dishes. The pork was the best I’ve ever had and their vegetable small plates were refreshing and yummy! Highly recommend for a culinary experience in the east end.

I've had this store on my list for half a year and finally had the chance to visit. I reserved a seat by the window with a view of the street, which will be very chill in the summer. The scallops in the appetizer were quite fresh. The pasta was handmade and very al dente. The steak was cooked perfectly, tender, and the side dishes were also very good.

We had a beautiful dinner at Wynona on the patio. The menu changes often, but we had the grilled focaccia, scallop crudo, tonnarelli, and pork collar. Everything was absolutely incredible. We finished with the popcorn panna cotta which was unlike any dessert we’ve ever had. Service was excellent and ambience was lovely. It’s in a nice quiet part of Gerrard so it felt very nice and peaceful even though we were outside. They also have the best Cafe TO set up I’ve seen so far with tables on a nice wooden platform rather than just in the street. We will definitely return

Having just returned from a weekend at Quebec City, where we've tried some truly wonderful restaurants, Wynona was such a let down. Indicative of everything that is wrong with this city, the pompous emptiness, serving basic feed at top cuisine price levels. Eventually, you get whole radishes, roots and all, covered in breadcrumbs. Are diners expected to devour these whole? Slicing them with a dull table knife was quite the effort. Mains were slightly less disappointing, but nothing to write home about. The Octopus pasta was the only enjoyable one despite superfluous levels of lemon. Short rib pasta was basically a Barilla with some blandly cooked beef. The place was very loud and the service slow and unprofessional. The waiter never asked us about the food (we may have said something in person, rather than leaving this review). The only time he paid attention to us was during bill payment. The lowest tip option on the machine was 18%, with him standing by looking the whole time so I wouldn't feel comfortable to manually enter a more appropriate percentage. Classy. I wonder what they served to the Michelin people, probably not this.

It is a very small open-kitchen restaurant serving three pastas, three mains, and some entrees, as well as a wide variety of wines. The branzino, the scallops, and the creme caramel were my favourites. They were amazing. The price for the size of the plates is on the high side, but it is worth a visit.

The open kitchen was so fun to be able to see everyone prepare all the delicious food. We had the branzino and the lumache - both were incredible. We also had the sticky toffee pudding with london fog ice cream for dessert which was the perfect end to the meal. Definitely recommend.

The dishes were FULL of flavour. I shared 2 apps and 2 pasta dishes with a friend and al 4 dishes were unique in their own way. High quality ingredients with lots of aroma and colours. Bathrooms and the staircase to the basement were a tad dingy. But Id go back again and would recommend this place.

Somewhat disappointed given the great reviews and the Michelin Guide feature. We ordered the burrata, focaccia (really just grilled bread), and apple/kale salad to start. They were good but nothing to write home about. I also ordered the Tonnarelli & while the pasta was fresh, I was very underwhelmed by the sauce and the protein. Unfortunately, this was a shared sentiment across my group despite us having ordered different pastas/mains. Glad to have finally tried this restaurant but I will not be back.

Such a disappointment. Focaccia wasn t focaccia it was more like homemade bread that had a spongy texture which fell apart. The scallop crudo was great but the burrata had no acid or depth. It left a lot to be desired. The lumache pasta felt like I could ve made it at home. The cheese was cut into cubes and the texture of the sauce was quite grainy. Highly disappointing for $27. As for the server - touching our table once to check in after our mains over 30 minutes is unacceptable. I was trying to get her attention for literally 10 minutes. Keep in mind this restaurant has less than 20 tables and I watched her run over 3/4 times to each other table in her section. Made us feel blatantly ignored or she has no attention to her tables either way such hype for zero substance. At least atmosphere inside was nice.

Cozy ambience, friendly staff, reasonable prices but food was subpar at best. Foccacia was bland. Scallop crudo and ravioli were overwhelmingly salty. Burrata and branzino were just not good. Could be the brown butter in both of those dishes that threw me off. The only thing I throughly enjoyed was the $8 plate of olives. Id maybe give it another shot once they change up their feature dishes.

So happy we got to spend our 1 yr anniversary dinner at Wynona. Served by a few different team members, everyone was incredibly knowledgeable about the food and wine and made our evening extra special. Rotating seasonal menu was to die for, our favourite being the new cabbage dish and tomato salad! If youre looking for a delicious restaurant filled with warmth and care look no further. My partner and I were excited to experience Wynona for our 8th anniversary dinner. The atmosphere is amazing and ambiance perfect for a date night. The service was great and timely. While we found the dishes all had fresh ingredients, unfortunately they fell a little flat on taste. Our focaccia was a little too burnt, the scallop crudo was so fresh but the dish overall lacked flavour, the tuna I was very excited for especially in the dashi but did not taste much other than the ginger in the slaw. The radiatori was our favourite dish of the night. The pork collar was unfortunately too tough and we left some unfinished. Overall we are still glad we got to experience this restaurant at least once! For the price we just expected a little more.

September 23, 2024

We have been to Wynona previously a year or so ago, and loved it. However something has clearly changed. We were quite disappointed by the food quality and flavours. We had the whitw lily greens anchovy salad which was way too over-dressed (lettuce covered in dressing) and was far too tart. The scallop crudo was bathed in way too much sauce - and the tomato in the sauce didnt go with the delicate flavour of the scallop. The over-saucing completely overtook any scallop flavor. We had the touranelli pasta and the radiatore pasta, but of which were ok, but there was nothing stand out about them. They were slightly under-salted and seasoned, and both the rabbit and shrimp were lack luster. For $35 per pasta dish, this was very overpriced for the quality and flavour. The dessert was sadly even worse. The dulche de leche cake was bland. Our friends had a nut and peach allergy so couldnt get either available desert, so the waitress offered a lemon granita with fresh berries. This was essentially a bowel of crushed ice and some slices of pear, with no berries. While its appreciated being offered something else, in this case, it would have been better had they not offered anything at all. Being charged $15 for a bowel of ice wasnt great. The prices in general have gone up ($35 per pasta, $18-25 for an appetizer), and have now become not worth it based on the quality of the meal last night. Sadly, we likely wont be returning.

It s a nice restaurant, food is pleasant but nothing extraordinary complex that you makes you go wow that s memorable. First server pompous, second guy more pleasant. It s A LOT of money, and for all the hype we expected more. Grilled Focaccia is dismal, whipped feta salad was tasty but basically no feta. Steak and pork mains were like going to someone s house for dinner and it was good but not great. We re not high maintenance, but not getting the hype over this place. Too bad.

Every single item out of that kitchen was exquisite. The scallops were perfectly balanced with little sparks of pepper. I love when a cook can take a simple thing like celery and fennel and make it taste exceptional. The ravioli was adorably presented and decadently delicious. The focaccia had a faint taste of gas in the grilling but the texture was like cake, the edges a crispy crust. One of the stand outs of the entire experience was the waiter who knew that menu down to every last detail. You could tell he authentically experienced joy in watching people eat good food and had a knowledge of gastronomy that would rival the best food critic out there. The dishes are generous in creativity, taste and portions. Worth every single penny.

Tl;dr trendy restauraunt, great flavours, fresh ingredients, service was meh, no cocktails or beers, pasta dishes and burrata were great, rest can be left. Came here under recommendation of friends. Fresh, local, season flavours pop out with colour and unstated flair. Pasta dishes were outstanding but appetizers didnt live up to the hype. Scallops were super overpowered by sauce and oranges. If scallops were the star, they were squashed by citrus. Endive salad was bland at best. The star was the small + expensive but tasty burrata dish: lovely Combo of grapes, pears, cheese and bread. Pastas is where theyre at. If youre looking to share, get all the pastas and skip the rest. Creme caramel was something out of Metro frozen ailse section. Not amazing texture, monocoloured syrup blob. Deconstructed chocolate cake was rich but lacked.... Acidity and made it overly monotonus. Worth a look but stick with the pasta. Expensive for the flavour, quality and service. Hit and miss menu. Update: Recently returned July 2024, my review still stands but thought the food overall was worse, service was still meh but they have drinks on their menu now. Whats worse is the absolutely horribly *loud* atmosphere - literally you have to tell to talk to someone across from you only 2 feet away. Downgrading from 3 to 2 stars.

Wynona was, unfortunately, quite disappointing and not worth the expense. Having lived and traveled in Italy, I had high expectations for the pasta at Wynona. Sadly, it was just mediocre. The pasta wasnt al dente, the sauce lacked flavor, and the overall preparation was unremarkable. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone. The appetizer, focaccia bread, was burnt. The panna cotta was overly gelatinous and far from what it should be. Its my favorite dessert, but I was so disappointed that I didnt even finish it. Im giving four stars because its clear the owner put effort into creating a pleasant atmosphere, and the service was good. However, it was quite cold on the patio, and there were no blankets available, which cut our visit short since my partner got cold. A restaurant like this should be able to provide blankets for guests. In conclusion, I was disappointed and do not recommend this place.

I liked the flavour of the food but the dishes were too salty and the portions were also quite small. I am not someone with a large appetite but even I thought the portion of pasta was not enough to feel full. I also ordered 2 appetizers which we were told needed bread to be best enjoyed with (as the dish is too salty without it) but the bread costs $6 extra. So if you order a $20 appetizer you would still need to spend an extra $6 in order to enjoy it properly, which makes no sense. Either include bread with the appetizers or make it less salty so it can be eaten as is.

One of the East Ends gems. The food here is delicious, and the atmosphere is cozy and unpretentious. Its really a lovely place to grab a nice meal for an occasion. What I love most is that the menu is pretty much different every time that you go. Besides the Branzino, they switch everything up. So each experience feels new. Also, they have a great wine list. The only knock on this place is that they have one of those 2-hour limits for your reservation... so if you want a longer meal, you could feel rushed out. Its not a big deal if you know this in advance, but it does put a little pressure on you to keep it moving and ensure everyone is there on time.

Honestly both my visits were a perfect meal. I came back here last night for my birthday dinner with friends. We ordered one of each main and pasta dish. Some may call it crazy. I say the best way to taste a bit of everything. The ravioli and the tonnarelli pasta dishes were the two standout pasta wise. I like the 3rd one but just a little less. Lick my plate with the ravioli dish....that lemon sauce is on fire The Ontario bavette and the Branzino(fish) were winners for the mains. The sweet potato garnish on the bavette dish was amazing. You may not think much of the carrot cake or the carrot app but order them both. You wont regret it. My second visit was as perfect as my first. You definitely need to eat here. My first visit was in August 2023. I shared a main with my friend as an app instead of ordering off the app menu. The price difference was small and I think we made the right call. The Ontario pea agnolotti dish was a good size and I had to lick the sauce. Perfect amount of everything for an app for two people. I got the Branzino, brown butter, cerignola dish as my main. The fish was perfect. I just wish it came with a small side. Not sure what thatd be but I enjoyed it none the less. The dessert of White chocolate bavarois, brandy cherries, raspberries, milk crumb, and lime was a fun last bite. Not sure what itd look like but it was a great light dish. You need to eat here.

Ive long considered Wynona one of my top recommendations in Toronto, so it was with great enthusiasm that I brought my family there last night, eager to showcase its culinary delights. Previously, I admired their high food standards and the warm, inviting atmosphere created by their open kitchen. However, our recent experience with the new menu was profoundly disappointing. We sampled nearly every dish on the new menu, and sadly, it fell short of expectations. The baked carrot was particularly underwhelming hard and served with a topping that completely overwhelmed its natural flavors. It seemed they used a type of carrot better suited for broth than roasting, missing the sweetness of thinner varieties. The yellowtail crudo was disappointingly chunky and had a fishy taste, lacking both flavor and visual appeal. This was a stark contrast to the scallop crudo from the old menu, which had always been a favorite of mine. The clam pasta was the nights sole highlight, boasting handmade, perfectly textured pasta, though even this dish had minor flaws like sandy clams, which I didnt mind much given the overall quality. Conversely, the grilled meat topped with pickled mushrooms did not impress, and both the bread and grilled sea bass were overcooked to the point of bitterness, with the char lines turning an unappetizing matte black. I was particularly let down because I knew how excellent their previous offerings were, and I had hoped to impress my family with this hidden gem. The kitchen, usually fragrant with delicious aromas, was noticeably devoid of any appealing food scents. It seems the new menu might be more cost-effective, but at the expense of quality, which felt almost deceitful. I regret to write such a critical review, as Wynona had always held a special place in my dining preferences. Its rare for me to leave negative feedback, but I felt embarrassed having recommended what turned out to be a disappointing experience.

Came here for an early valentines dinner with the boyfriend and we both agreed that the food was outstanding. I particularly loved the Ontario Bavette and braised Oxtail dish. I could easily eat two of those myself. The sopresetta stuffed squid was also a knockout. Overall, the food was delicious, well balanced and fresh. Portion sizes are smaller to moderate, which is to be expected given the type of restaurant. They change their menu every couple of months which keeps things exciting! Though apparently they always keep their famous branzino course on the menu - something which we regrettably didn t try! Have to give a shoutout to Jess and Brooke who took care of us that evening. Absolutely delicious! Wynona was actually awarded Bib Gourmand by Michelin, and it s more affordable than a full star Michelin restaurant. If you go, you have to order the Branzino. Branzino is European seabass and it is so flavorful. It s charred perfectly and a delicious salt bomb. It s topped with capers and with a side of lemon. I believe this dish is unique to the restaurant and I don t think I ve seen it elsewhere. We also ordered the braised oxtail pasta and the portion size was perfect. I find a lot of Italian joints will serve such a huge portion that you feel stuffed and forget about the dish. But the serving here was a good amount and the meat was so tender. They also have a plate of olives for appetizer and I love olives personally. The green ones they had were the best! Great date night spot with intimate setting. But the vibe isn t overly fancy or pretentious which I loved. Highly recommend!

Honestly I had never heard of this place as I spend most of my time in the west end, however I was thoroughly impressed after our food came out. Hands down one of the best meals I ve ever had in Toronto, not to mention exceptional service and an immaculate space. Anyone looking for an elegant yet not stuffy dinner out should heavily consider Wynona.

We have been meaning to try Wynona for some time. Had dinner there just before Christmas. Ordered Marinated olives (generous portion), grilled Focaccia (delicious but a little heavy on oil - next time will ask for less), Kanpachi crudo with pomelo and burned orange (Excellent), a kind of roasted squash with nuts (very good), Branzino (Excellent) and a pasta with oxtail (very good). Restaurant is clean, has nice decor, great friendly service, price reasonable. Definitely a GEM.

Great service and amazing food! They offer a nice selection of wines and beers. We enjoyed a prosecco with our appetizer of a selection of Quebec cheeses. Service was perfect. She made us comfortable and made sure we had everything we need. She made great suggestions and was flexible when we had a friend show up halfway through the meal. Located on Gerrard with a streetcar stop nearby, and a bus up to Pape station. Street parking out front. A few steps up to the door and a tight vestibule with a heavy curtain to keep out the cold. Probably too tight for some mobility devices. This restaurant is listed on Torontos Michelin guide. Element casual atmosphere (not suitable for small children). Great place for a celebration, romantic dinner or to go with friends!

The place is a vibe. The branzino was always solid choice - the brown butter paired with the toastiness was a solid A. The bigoli with harissa, clams and mussels were also a good touch, though I would go for the carrot ravioli between the two. Overall, the dishes err on the side of citrusy, which works for some (for instance, brown butter with lemon), but less so for others, pickled daikon (?) with kohlrabi or pickled beets with ravioli. Music is quite loud even after 9pm, so probably not the place for an intimate date out, but dinner with friends is good. Desserts is okay, but you wont be missing out too much otherwise. The custard was grainy today - Im sure it was a one-off though. Finally good wine selection, though the orange wine I had was nothing to rave about. Would try other things or when the patio opens back up in the summer.

Another date spot favourite. Their crudos are always good, pastas are usually fire (should be the case for an Italian joint like this), focaccia fan, and fun desserts. 99% of the dishes are bangers, although their Kentucky fried fennel was not particularly pleasant, but Im not a huge pickle fan to begin with. Its quite heavy on the pickle flavour and the batter doesnt blend particularly well with the fennel.

Hands down one of the best meals that I ve had in Toronto. The service and atmosphere are excellent - Joe is an amazing server with greasy recommendations, the place itself is nice and open and the music is great. Moving to the food, two of the apps were incredible inventive and delicious. The green curry kohlrabi and head cheese were things I ve never tried anywhere else. The crudo, although nothing new, was very fresh and well executed. For the mains, the little neck pasta is probably the best pasta I ve had in Toronto. Perfect balance of acid, salt and fat with a perfectly cooked noodle. The fish was great, but honesty a bit rich and big for two people - would be a great dish for a group of 3/4 to split. Still delicious though. Finally, for desert we got the chocolate mousse. It was super light while still having enough structure to hold itself and keep shape. Overall, a fantastic night with amazing food, great music and awesome service. You must go!!

3.5/5 Located on the quite streets of late night east Gerrard stands this little beautiful glowing restaurant. I like how the menu changes every week or so, but might be stopping them from having a menu full of winners though, but I appreciate the approach and I will be back! We tried 3 things, an app, 2 mains. The app was a wonderful salad topped with unqiue ingredients like pickled mushrooms and chicken skin crumble. So beautiful in presentation as well. We had the fish and one of the pastas with sausage. The fish was burnt and really ruined what could have been a fantastic main. The sauce it was in was lemon butter flavored and well done. The fish under the burnt skin was good too. Just even compared to others photos ours order should not have passed the kitchen inspection and come to the table as black as it did, which is the only reason its not a 4. The pasta had light with rich flavors. Mild cheese taste on the pasta and the incredible richness of the sausage was actually fantastic. The best dish we had of the night. The music wasnt too loud and it was well lit enough which I LOVED! Service was very kind, bit slow. An hour into arriving we only had our app, etc. It happens and the restaurant was small but full house. Great vibe and environment. Its on the list of Michelin restaurants recommend list for the city. Only 1/16 places were nominated for this. Only 12 restaurants actually got 1 star and only 1 restaurant got 2 stars out of there 3 star rating system. I can tell these guys are gearing up to try to get Michelin star status and other than the one bad dish, I have no doubt they could get there! Follow my google page for my review of every single one of them in progress and coming soon.

Went for the first time and loved it. Our server was great and recommended a few dishes to try, along with wine pairings. We shared all our dishes, I think thats the way to go here as the portion can be a bit small. Started with the endive salad, a big hit for 2/3 of us, the sauce was great and the crab was tender. Also got the grilled focaccia, honestly can be a skip, I wasnt impressed by it, still tasted good. Branzino was amazing, 1/3 of us practically ate the entire thing. Was grilled to perfection and was so buttery and flaky. Lumache was alright, 1/3 loved it, didnt blow away the rest. The sauce was the best part, but all the pasta is cooked very well. Bigoli was everyones favourite, the harissa and lemon was perfect, so tasty! And the mussels were amazing.

Very beautiful restaurant. Need reservation, because its always full. The service is good, but the place is small: the tables are uncomfortably close to each other. It is a very noisy environment, it does not allow to talk or enjoy the food. The outside area was open, however we werent allowed to choose the table, despite there being vacant seats. There is no decoration or setting outside, but it is quiet. The food is ok, but nothing worth visiting. There is a good wine list. They only serve beer and wine. There are no drinks.

I would return for the dessert, and the dessert only. The dark chocolate mousse with creme fraishe was outstanding and inventive. 5 hours later, I m still thinking about it. As a vegetarian, this isn t the most accessible place for a main course. The truffle ravioli was decent, but portion sizes were pretentious - $30 for 6 pieces of ravioli. No matter the quality of the ingredients, it sadly did not fill us up. It was also served in a flat plate (as opposed to a bowl), which made it difficult not to waste the precious, expensive sherry butter sauce. This is the only vegetarian option for the main dishes. While the staff are friendly they do make haste to ensure table turnover, so make sure to arrive on time if you do come, and not to come in too hangry if you re eating vegetarian.

Unfortunately a lot of small bones towards 2nd half of the fish. Didnt ruin the dish, but heads up would be preferred. Scallops - Clean flavours and melon was clever for sweetness and texture. Great herby sauce. Saffron Squid - Perfectly executed texture, not much squid. Cauliflower Carbonara - strong starter, creamy and perfectly seasoned. Not too heavy. Dark Chocolate - Really well done. Not too sweet. Great decor inside, would recommend inside seating as patio is extremely packed and tables are too close. Takes AMEX. Expect $100pp inc a drink.

To preface everything, I had a good time here. There are a few complaints across the board that are personal (maybe) preferences. The atmosphere is great when it isnt busy, and it is most often very busy. The dining area gets very loud with a full house and the open kitchen, so much so that talking at a table of 4 is difficult and sometimes tiring. The service was excellent from the speed, friendliness, knowledge, and recommendations. There are no complaints from me here. The food was good, a decent variety of appetizers and pastas to choose from, each with their own charm. The only downside is that everything on the charcuterie board and the focaccia were on the salty side, and together were a bit hard to down. On that front Id recommend the cheese board instead; their in house crackers are great with or without the cheese. My group got one of each of the pastas on rotation, and in my opinion the Ontario Sweet corn agnolotti was the best of the bunch - it is spicy which float my boat, but not my friends at the table. The other dishes were okay, but not the best as someone who typically dont care much for pasta (The other 2 options are the saffron tonnarelli and the campanelle with braised rabbit). The desserts were a trip, the peach curt pavlova was great, nice a light with nothing much to complain about. The dark chocolate torte was a bit of a mixed bag. Overall, it was good, but they were also a bit heavy on the salt here as well, enough to ruin a good dessert in my opinion. So once again, between the two, Id recommend the former. This place is not for me mainly for the pasta focus and the loud environment; but if those are non-issues for you, Id recommend a visit.

The pastas in this place are very very nice. My favorite is the gemelli with braised lamb, such a deep herby flavour and extremely tasty. The wine selection is also very impressive, with even Slovenian and Serbian wines available. Our meal consisted of the grilled escorole salad which was the highlight, but not great, the chestnut was so hard one could feel for their teeth; the lamb pasta was good , however, the octopus pasta was terribly bland and had very little seafood. The wine list was fairly extensive with some out of the ordinary offerings, albeit, expensive. Having a service industry/restaurant background, I did not appreciate being served $30 plus meals in vessels worth $1.00 each, and cutlery worth no more than pennys a piece. Would not recommend this restaurant.

I feel lucky to keep finding these excellent restaurants. Fantastic food, fantastic wine, excellent service and atmosphere was really good. Give it a try, I am going back. Menu changes every week and we ate all of it, all of the dishes were amazing. Wow.
