Featuring signature dishes and exclusive Toronto creations, the restaurant offers a luxurious dining experience with sleek design elements, embodying Chef Back's adventurous spirit and creative approach to cuisine.
My daughter and I visited before our show. Beautifully decorated. We sat by the window where there was quite the cold draft. Food was very different but tasty. We had the corn tempura, salmon roll, vegetable fried rice and the chicken. I was expecting a much bigger setting. Our waiter was nice but nit quite as attentive as I would have expected.
Beautifully presented dishes, great attentive service and great ambience. This is a spot to bring someone to impress. It is a pricy place but that is to be expected by attached to a fancy hotel and also being the restaurant of a Michelin star chef
Really tasty food and incredible interior design! Each dish was thoughtfully presented and tasted so so good. We got about 6 dishes between 2 people and that was more than enough food. If there is one thing you must get, get the wagyu tacos!!!! They were spiced perfectly and so flavourful and juicy. Edamame was tossed in a savoury kimchi butter which added a little touch of spice. We also got the tuna belly sushi and wagyu nigiri with truffle (also so good!!). And sushi rice and salmon tataki. 10/10!
We had a wonderful experience at Akira Back Toronto. This was our 2nd AB experience as we were regular patrons of the AB at Dubai. There were a few familiar favorites on the menu such as Jidori Chicken, Mushroom/Tuna pizza, The Geisha, Galbi Lamb Chops, Wagyu Tacos and the Apple Harumaki. Our server Greg was pitch perfect and suggested us a few items that we should consider. Every item that we ordered was music to our palettes and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We had come to celebrate a special occasion and the staff did not put a foot wrong. Akira Back lived up to its reputation and we were happy patrons as always. Thank you very much Greg for your excellent service.
Celebrated a friend's bday. The restaurant was giving great vibes, beautiful decor and service was pretty good. Food was on the higher price point but the quality definitely shows through and presentation. The drinks were a hit or miss though. But overall a great experience.
If you're looking for a cozy place to celebrate a birthday with close friends, this is the ideal spot. The restaurant is called Akira Back, conveniently located in downtown, making it easy to get to. The service quality is an 8/10. Basically, all the dishes are delicious, but the best one and the best seller here is the tuna/mushroom pizza ($29). I had to order it twice. Next is the Wagyu Taco ($26), which I rate 9/10, it’s very tasty. The sushi dishes ($24) are also okay. The chicken with mashed potatoes is an 8.5/10. Even the drinks and other dishes are worth praising. The space isn't too big, just small, decorated like a cave but it looks very classy. The photo spots are amazing. Remember to tag your friends to plan a birthday gathering here!
I was looking for a restaurant for my birthday. About Akira Black there were many reviews and a good rating here. I liked the interior in the photos and how the dishes look, too. But when we entered the hall, it turned out to be much smaller than in the photo, with a low ceiling and extremely noisy. The waiters were very attentive and friendly. They tried to spend a lot of time for us. But unfortunately, this did not cover the fact that I waited more than 40 minutes for my food and the noise was very disturbing. Sometimes I didn't even hear what the waiter was saying to me. I ordered corn, but it turned out to be whole grain pancakes. My dish absorbed too much oil and I couldn't eat it. The crab was very tasty but a little spicy and small portion. The dessert was exquisite and interesting to taste. Due to the fact that we left the restaurant earlier and went to another one near. After spending 101$ we left restaurant hungry.
Really beautiful presentation of dishes and atmosphere. We stopped here for a light dinner on a Sunday night and they were able to seat us without a reservation. The service was very prompt and lovely. The food arrived quickly and each one was thoughtful. As a cucumber salad lover, I expected a little more flavor from this one so it was the only miss for me. Everything else was great. Many people were celebrating birthdays there so I guess it’s perfect for special occasions.
Excellent service. Very friendly. Food was phenomenal. We took our kids (unfortunately no sitter) but they were very accommodating.
An all-around incredible experience. Even though we had a late reservation, we never felt rushed and thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Everything we tried was delicious, but the yellowfin tuna is a must try! Dietary restrictions: Extremely accommodating & careful to avoid any cross contamination
Great restaurant overall
Delicious dinner the wagyu tacos were the best !
Best service, best food, best atmosphere!!
Incredible fish selection daily imported from Japan. Tried chefs sashimi selection, Japanese uni, and few rolls
Most overrated restaurant ever. The interior is gorgeous however the food lacks flavor and has poor presentation compared to other top Japanese restaurants. Was really disappointed since people rave about it.
Food sucks, overpriced for what you get
I when there with my daughter when I came to Toronto. What a beautiful restaurant, and food was amazing. But what made it so special and memorable was the outstanding service we received from our server MAGGIE. She when above and beyond.
I came here with my husband a couple days ago and we had such a lovely experience. Our server Greg was amazing and made the perfect recommendation for drinks based on what we said we liked. The food was amazing and they even brought out a really nice dessert for our anniversary which was unexpected but really delicious. Will definitely come again!
WOW! We recently went on a Saturday night with 2 other couples to celebrate my birthday. It was one of the best dining experiences weve ever had. Everything from the moment we walked in was perfect from the wait staff to the Sommelier to the menu to the decor. The dishes were really different and each one was more delicious than the next. The Big hits we unanimously chose were the tuna pizza, wagyu tacos, the creamy spinach, pop rockin rolls, hot mess sashimi rolls and apple harumaki for dessert. There are plenty of choices for anyone with food allergies and restrictions. The restaurant overall had a really cool vibe. The bonus is that the namesake Akira is a Michelin star rated chef. I highly recommend this restaurant! N.B. I only took one photo as I was so taken by the experience I forgot to take more.
Had to wait until all the hype died down to try this place! I had a wonderful time here, staff were really friendly and responsive and service was good. We were able to try most of the staple dishes that people rave about and it was good. Nothing bad to say about anything, everything was just good. Considering that this is fine dining I guess the prices reflected that but there wasn t anything that really stood out to me except for the miso soup and some of the sushi rolls. The sushi rolls were great, we reordered some. The spicy miso soup was incredible, I would come back just for the miso soup. Wagyu tacos and fried rice was not everything I thought it was going to be but like I said, it was just good. There were some other things we ordered but nothing to really note. Overall, 7/10. Would probably come back to try other things for sure!
Rude staff. Loud,club-like music.
Disappointing. Very, very disappointing. I am normally able to let a lot slide in these particular matters. This, unfortunately, is one of the cases that cannot be ignored. I came to this restaurant for the first time for one of my closest friends birthdays. The location, ambiance, food and our server were spectacular; all to be ruined by one of the most poorly conducted show runner manager experiences in customer service I have EVER come across. I have helped opened multiple chain restaurants with magnificent teams, run my own personal teams, and still work in the field of customer service. There were 6 of us in attendance and 5/6 had separate verbal confrontations with the manager, Abdu. The individual clearly has little to no experience in the field of customer service and its unfortunate; given the status and luxury of such a fine restaurant. His ability to handle the issue of our party needing to leave the table at a set time (after reservations had been placed and approved) was a disgrace to say the least. The verbal dispute was handled with a cool guy smirk and attempt towards remedy with a single shot of alcohol for the birthday girl. Furthermore, the General Manager in whom Abdu said was not present (out of embarrassment, Im sure) came to the rescue after the upper-hand was notified (Im sure multiple times) of Abdus poor attempt at salvaging the situation. The gentleman stated hed reach out and invite the birthday girl back for a proper experience to no avail. I highly suggest a very elaborate team meeting, blueprint session, and maybe even a reset on management to ensure that customers are handled with the finest care within a fine restaurant. To the GM, you nearly had it with the close and the gesture was exceptional. You just dropped the ball when it mattered most. Actions speak louder than words and for that reason in lacking, Im out. Never to return again.
Solid service and beautiful interior. Exterior is a bit too low key but that s okay. Food tastes wonderful.
Had a birthday dinner here with my fiance - the food was great you can definitely taste the difference in quality compared to an avg sushi restaurant is very noticeable. Our waiter shawn was also very friendly and provided very prompt and welcoming service. Would recommend for anyone celebrating a special occasion
We enjoyed the Food, the Ambiente an the Service of you guys. Greg, you did a Great Job! Alexander from germany Food : 5/5 |
food was so good! for reference i got the the wagyu tacos and they were absolutely amazing! i wanted to get a warm drink and they were so kind enough to offer green tea to satisfy my stomach since it was hurting, lol. gorgeous atmosphere and PERFECT for instagram photos! totally coming back (:
Amazing food and ambiance. Ashley was super sweet and helpful.
Exceptional service and food. The manager (Gloria) is one of the bests to do it in the city. Love this place.
Very nice spot to celebrate anything, loved the Wagu Tacos
Food was delicious, I really recommend the spicy tofu starter! The overall vibe and ambiance of the restaurant is really nice. Would definitely recommend. Also our server Nish was great & made our experience much more enjoyable, thanks a lot!
Very cool and hip place. And very pleasantly surprised by how delicious and novel the food is. Our server is extremely helpful and friendly. She recommended the tuna/mushroom pizza and that was my fav! A great dining option for pre theater.
Beautiful customer service and beautiful atmosphere !
We really enjoyed the modern and creative Japanese cuisine. Beautifully presented dishes, unique flavors and and great atmosphere. Highly recommend the Wagyu nigiris
Excellent service, amazing drinks presentation and the food is always consistent and tasteful. Gloria Kim always deliver exceptional customer service and she is the GM for Akira Back. You won t be disappointed coming to this restaurant!
Loved everything The food, service and decor Food
Good food but not for its price. How does a Michelin-starred chef have the word Nutella on their menu? I certainly had a few divine mouthfuls but the surroundings are ostentatious. I miss Hiro!
Youre paying for the atmosphere and vibe and the presentation The food is mediocre at best and thats being generous
I thought the food was good! The mystery box was fun and the lamb was cooked perfectly. The AB cigar for desert is also really good. Unfortunately our service was subpar, at least on that Sunday evening of a long weekend.
Akira Back in Toronto was a bit of a letdown compared to the location in Delray Beach. While the ambiance is modern and stylish, the overall experience didn t quite live up to expectations. The food was decent, but nothing extraordinary, and the service felt a bit rushed. The Delray Beach spot had a much more vibrant atmosphere, and the flavors there were far more impressive. Overall, I expected more given the reputation, and I d probably stick to the Delray Beach location next time.
I can t say enough good things about Nish! He s an exceptional bartender who truly goes above and beyond. Every time I visit, he remembers not just my order but also my preferences, making me feel like a valued guest. His attention to detail and genuine hospitality are the reasons I keep coming back whenever Im in the city. Nish deserves recognition for his outstanding service. Keep up the great work! - L
Amazing. Melt in your mouth sushi and flatbread with mushrooms/tuna. Cool decor. Fabulous service.
Bad experience. Rude wait staff and poor food quality. Sole bright spot was a Bangladeshi gentleman who offered great service.
Akira Back deserves a stellar 5-star rating! The fusion of modern Japanese cuisine and authentic Korean flavors creates an exceptional dining experience. Ideal for both intimate date nights and lively birthday celebrations. Special mention to Gloriia, the outstanding manager who adds an extra layer of excellence to the overall experience. Highly recommended!
It was a good experience, the food was good but nothing over the top. The presentation is quite lovely, and the atmosphere is nice and so is the service.
the place is amazing! the food by chef Jo and his team were beyond my expectations. and the server willow was awesome! definitely going back!
Everything we had was really, really good. Highly recommend. The salmon tataki was a standout but we liked it all.
Atmosphere is very intimate wonderful for a romantic date night where you can talk and no intrusive music. Service was amazing waiter and team very attentive and great at explaining the menu and giving recommendations. Food was out of this world delicious we had a variety wagyu tacos, ribs, sushi, steak, fried rice, mille fuille all were phenomenal. Cocktails also perfect.
I found this place through tiktoks and was so amazed i thought it would be the perfect place to have my anniversary with my girlfriend and its rated 4.4 stars so what could go wrong. First off no one greets you at the door nor when i walked up the stairs either. All the waiters looked at us and didnt even acknowledge us. Then we finally get sat down and get a really passive aggressive waiter who made us feel weird this brown bald guy with a grey and black goatee. Then we had to wait extremely long for our food to come out at all. Our first dish was the wagyu tacos and they took 40 min to come out. The only upside is that they gave us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. Little did we know 2 hours later we would be in pain because the sushi hurt mine and my girlfriends stomach. We might as well have just gone to a more authentic sushi place. Absolutely ruined our experience and we will never be coming back and will be warning others to not be fooled by this place as well
The wagyu tacos are 10/10
Amazing food, service, and atmosphere . By far my favourite place in Toronto
Had a superb experience recently thanks to the wonderful Alberto , the brilliant bar tender, who made the evening fun and interesting with his excellent advice without being pushy Can t recommend Alberto and the restaurant highly enough ! Sitting at the bar was a wise decision!
Bit overhyped, but its decent. Great for business or casual drinks in a darker-toned environment.
The Uni and Toro are excellent. Steaks and lamp chops are really good. Parking can be expensive.
Amazing food amazing service every time we come Gloria is always so welcoming. highly recommend this restaurant!!!!
One of my fav restaurants in Toronto.
Came here for dinner the first time, we were served by Kate, who recommended some dishes we would never have ordered but really enjoyed. The mushroom/pizza is unique but definitely delicious. Loved the sushi, had the Show me the roll and the king crab rice was also amazing. Great place to celebrate a birthday, an anniversary etc. Thanks for the wonderful hospitality Kate & Akira Back Team!
Wheelchair accessibility: Elevator up to second floor Food
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Akira Back, and it was an experience that truly stands out. Nestled in the beautiful boutique hotel of Bisha. Akira Back blends of modern and elegance, creating a sophisticated yet welcoming atmosphere. From the moment I entered, I was struck by the chic decor sleek lines, and subtle lighting that perfectly set the mood for an exquisite dining experience. The service was impeccable, the Asian manager and its staff members were super attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about providing a top notch service. The menu at Akira Back is a testament to culinary innovation. The sashimi we had was top quality and super fresh. The Miso soup is tasty as always. The star of the show, A5 Waygu Nigiri sushi is to die for. Tender and buttery, melts in your mouth. Overall, Akira Back delivers a dining experience that is both innovative and deeply satisfying. The creative dishes, exceptional service, and elegant ambiance make it a standout choice for anyone seeking a memorable culinary adventure.
Akira Back was so delicious and the customer service was one of a kind. I couldn t recommend this place more for any occasion!
Beautiful restaurant with an inviting atmosphere. We were a party of 6 celebrating a birthday, and tried a variety of dishes. The chef s mystery box was incredible and the presentation was so cool. The chicken, lamb chops and sea bass were all delicious. I really enjoyed the tuna pizza, and my friends enjoyed the wagyu tacos. We also got the crispy octopus, however I was not the biggest fan of that one. The AB cigar was also very yummy. Everyone left feeling very happy and impressed with the experience at Akira Back. I can t wait to come again!
Probably the best food experience I have ever had! Every dish melted in my mouth. Its not cheap, but worth every penny and truly will impress whomever you take with you.
This restaurant exceeded my expectations. The overall vibe, food, and staff were phenomenal. Special shoutout to our waitress for taking care of us. I ll be sure to recommend Akira Back to whoever visits Toronto.
Everything was perfect, no complaints. Wagyu tacos are a must have!
The food was so delicious! The atmosphere was magical and relaxing. Will definitely come back again
Arika Back exceeded our expectations. Our server Maggie, was not only welcoming, but very knowledgeable and attentive. We really appreciated the service and had a wonderful evening. Highly recommend and we plan on visiting again!
An unforgettable culinary experience! The Akira Back restaurant in Toronto is a real gem. Each dish is made impeccably, with care and precision that leave you speechless. From appetizer to dessert, every bite is an explosion of perfectly balanced flavors. The service is equally extraordinary. The staff pays attention to all details, anticipating every need with professionalism and courtesy. Their knowledge of the menu is impressive, and they are always ready to offer personalized recommendations. The atmosphere of the restaurant is elegant and welcoming, making every visit a special experience. I highly recommend Akira Back to anyone looking for high quality dining in Toronto. I cant wait to return! --- I hope you enjoy this review! Do you want to add anything else?
This was a wonderful culinary experience with great friendly service and amazing attention to details! Thank you!
Can t go wrong going here, great food service and very accommodating. Ideal especially just for an enjoyable meal as they have a great menu even order apps repeatedly they re delicious. Great place that offers value quality and service. Highly recommend the wagyu tacos amazing
All I have to say is wow what an amazing exsperience, truly a perfect culmination of japanease food. My night started with a gorgous entrance followed by quite possible the nicest interior Ive ever seen. Me and my friends where seated and introduced to our server then given a simple yet elaqint menu, we order 16 items total some from each section of the sharing menu and each one was better then the next. Ever meal was perfectly timed from the last and accompanied by a indepth explanation of the dish. the best dish I had the absolute plreasure of trying was the AB wagyu tacos, what an awsome combanation of food to make a spectacular dish. we ordered all the desserts and they brought it out on a personalized platter, completing the meal in an amazing way. I would recommend this place to all my friend what a truly amazing exsperience.
My fiancée and I come here every few months. Each time we come sherry is our server and curates our entire menu for us. This amazing lady makes our entire experience. 10/10. We were also helped out by Kate and Sasha. Both extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We LOVE the food here. And better yet, the exceptional service we receive each time we come. It is our favourite restaurant and will continue to be if sherry serves us <3
AMAZING!! Tuna/mushroom pizza is a must try. Their seasonal menu, wagyu sushi, was extremely tasty too. Price is very reasonable and dimmed lights make good atmosphere as well
Everything was just perfect. Willow is our top pick! Everyone is friendly and attentive. Definitely coming back Food : 5/5
One of the best Japanese fusion I have ever had! The Rib Eye steak is fabulous!! Our server Willow is so attentive, friendly, and thoughtful! Would definitely recommend to bring your partner and important people life here!!
The king crab fried rice and Wagyu tacos are my favourite! They do take out for these on the menu which is great for those cravings!
The restaurant to be really nice spot and a fancy restaurant with a classy menu Food
Been going to this Akira Back for years and it s the best sushi in Toronto. Always consistent/amazing food and great service!
My boyfriend and I found this restaurant though a TikTok of Restaurants to check out in Toronto Sometimes they re a miss and others like Akira Back are a total hidden gem to be found. You start off by heading upstairs to the restaurant which is semi attached to the hotel but has its own entrance. We were greeted by friendly hostesses, a coat check and were seated just beyond the bar. Greg, our server s exceptional service and friendly demeanor made the dining experience truly delightful. His attention to detail and warm personality were greatly appreciated! Food options we got were Hot Share: Crispy Octopus 9/10 could have used a bit more flavor/salt in the batter. The sauces paired well and octopus was otherwise cooked perfectly. Omakase* I want to note that with great hesitation I posted the photo of the dish. It truly is meant to be a chefs picks/surprise but the presentation was too good to pass up. However, I will not tell you the exact dishes we received! 10/10 GET THE OMAKASE. If there s one thing you do get it! Totally worth the wait, the presentation is amazing, it s the right amount for two people to share and taste all that chef has to offer. I cannot rave enough about this item on the menu. Main: Seared Seabass 9.9/10 I m only docking a point because it s too much sauce to dish ratio but the flavors are amazing and everything else is cooked well on the dish! We ordered drinks and they were good, but I don t think anything stood out to me enough for a photo to be snapped or name to be remembered. As we wrapped up dinner, Gloria the general manager, came by to check on all the tables and happened to chat with us for a bit as we were visiting from out of town. She offered other amazing food recommendations throughout the city and showed us the rooftop sister restaurant. It s got amazing views of the tower and the drinks were above and beyond as well. Had we stayed longer in the city we definitely would ve tried the Mediterranean inspired menu offered upstairs! We truly received an unparalleled luxury dining experience from Akira Back, from the food to the atmosphere to the staff. Highly recommend for your next visit to Toronto! Parking: We took a Lyft to our dinner but there was some street parking and definitely hotel valet. However in the surrounding areas there s almost always a parking garage Kid-friendliness: If your kid is a picky eater or is otherwise unbehaved, don t bring them. This is an elevated dining experience where there s no chicken nuggets. Make sure your kid is prepared to try new dishes Wheelchair accessibility: Elevators throughout for access up and down
Food is excellent and staff is friendly and knowledgeable.
Great place, amazing vibe, scrumptious food. Willow and Liz went beyond our expectation to serve us.Both were friendly and excellent at their job. Food
We came here on a Tuesday night and it was still surprisingly busy - however if you do not have any reservations you will still be able to get in. It was our first time at a Michelin start restaurant and I was expecting the prices to be more expensive. We ordered lots of dishes including the corn tempura, waygu tacos, tofu and half and half pizza. Everything was delicious and we were treated like royalty. The staff are very attentive and can accomodate dietary restrictions - due to my pregnancy and not being able to eat raw fish, they were able to accomodate and cook some of the dishes so that I could still experience all the flavours! I was also surprised to see that there were several young families, making it also a family friendly restaurant!
All I can say is wow! Had minimal expectations and was blown away! Split crab legs were heavenly! Protein roll a must try and Toro sushi . Need I say more!
My favorite restaurant
Overall it was wonderful but their wine prices are over the top. Almost 6-7x more for a bottle at the restaurant compared to buying a bottle at the liquor store. I have no problem with mark up, but it has to be reasonable.
Would definitely come back! We always have issues with service everytime we visit a nice restaurant. However, we experienced nothing short of it at Akira! Sherry was our server and was so polite and friendly, she had great recommendations and even gave us a complimentary dessert for our anniversary. The dishes were unique and flavourful! Recommend the AB wagu tacos, seared sea bass and protein up sushi.
Fancy Toronto downtown restaurant. Food presentation is good.
Been here several times, this time the food was not that fresh, not tasty at all, like a food truck, hope can improve
Food was outstanding and the cocktails were delicious. Excellent presentation. A tad over priced and the service wasnt the best (took a very long time for our orders to be taken & server forgot a few things) but overall its delicious and worth a splurge for a special occasion.
really enjoyed our time at Akira Back, the food was delicious and beautifully presented. Crispy Rice and Miso Eggplant were some of our favourite.
Food was very good, but the service was quite confusing. Half of the waiter there were unfamiliar with their menu and obviously don t know how to use the POS machine It took way too long for them to figure out I almost wanted to get up and show them the way. Everyone was friendly and trying, just need a bit more training for a restaurant at this price I guess. Recommend the mushroom pizza, black cod and beef rib.
It was my birthday and I didn t get the table that I wanted. I specifically left a comment in my reservation. The whole night I was rushed multiple times and the server even said you have to have your dessert in 15min if you want it. They keep coming to rush me finishing my meal which made me forget to take a picture of my birthday dessert setting. This is such a terrible birthday dining experience!
A great experience at one of Toronto s top tier restaurants. Wonderful atmosphere and superb service. Will be visiting again! Vegetarian options: Plenty of Vegetarian and Vegan options!
This is my first time at an Akira Back, haven t visited any of their locations other than Toronto. Ambiance is excellent. It s a part of the Bisha Hotel. On the pricer side for the quality of food. Think saucey Japanese (Korean-Japanese fusion.) Enjoyed the mushroom pizza, and western styled rolls. Not sure if I appreciate wagyu when it s in ground beef form. The wagyu tacos tasted like TexMex/New Mexican style hard shell tacos with a ton of oil. Worth checking out with managed expectations.
Willow made sure we had a great experience.
Ngl there was nothing too special about the food, in fact I ve had food that taste oddly similar to the dishes in the menu and to be quite frank, they also charge for water which was kinda outrageous if you asked me, but the vibes and the atmosphere was very nice and lively and very nice staff
Amazing restaurant. I sat at the bar late on a Saturday night, May 18th. My bartender and service was amazing. The food was great that I even ordered seconds of my meal. Drinks were great. Highly recommend this place!!
Went for bday dinner. Uni was awesome
I absolutely adore Akira Back. A sushi restaurant that has true and amazing Japanese energy. Our server Akari was incredible, the food was beautiful and so delicious. My favourite sushi restaurant in Toronto.
Great food and service.
I tried sushi and roll platter here, it was lovely six different type of fish and chef explaining everything. Good experience
You cant be serving wagyu minced tacos with ground beef thats the size of my thumb. Food is extremely expensive so if youre rich and want to pay $200+ a person for appetizers, then this can be upgraded to a 3.
Spent my birthday here. Food and service were awesome. Price was reasonable. Would definitely recommend.
The food was good and filling, I highly recommend the AB Tacos and the Toro Caviar.
We ordered ribeye, lamb chops, salmon tataki, wagyu tacos and lobster fried rice. All were excellent except the lobster fried rice, which was pretty mediocre.
Best Japanese fine dining in town. Reasonable price, good service, nice food!
Visiting from out of town and came in for dinner. Was lucky enough to have Maggie to service us, she was great and very helpful. Hearing the stories behind each dish was entertaining and we loved the pop rocket roll. 10/10 will come back here again!
Kate was fantastic during our visit. She was attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel truly welcome. Her warm and professional demeanor made our dining experience special. Had the best birthday dinner
Had the best girls night out at this spot! The food was delicious. And on top of that, our servers Liz and Nishant, were stars, making sure our evening was nothing short of amazing. Cant recommend enough for a fun night out with great food and drinks.
Nishant and Liz were amazing!
The food quality was disappointing, rated at 0.5 out of 10. Our waiter seemed absent, only checking on us twice and avoiding contact. However, Emma, another staff member, was exceptionally helpful and sweet. Despite its popularity on TikTok, I wouldnt recommend this place, especially for steak.
First thing first our server Shaun was phenomenal and the number one reason we would definitely be back. Your server can make or break your experience dining out and he definitely made ours. He was very knowledgeable about the food and background of the restaurant as well as the city of Toronto which is appreciated especially since we re not locals. Food was great recommendations would be the waygu tacos, corn tempura, and the show me the roll sushi roll. The drinks were also exceptional and the old fashion was one of the best we ve had. Good selection of non alcoholic drinks as well which is always appreciated. The ambience was great, relaxing yet inviting and a good view of the city.
Went to Akira back Sunday night and the service and food was spectacular! Shaun was amazing ! he was very attentive pleasant and friendly. Ill definitely be back!
Alberto one of the bartenders was hands down the most hospitable and good energetic servers I ve met, he went above and beyond. 5 stars all around
Alberto the bartender was absolutely unreal, never have I had an experience like this before. He made my night and the espresso martini was one of a kind!
From the minute I was seated, the service was top notch! An honourable mention goes out to our waiter Joshua, he was amazing, and I cannot wait to go back in the summer. Thank you to all the staff at Akira, I dine out a lot, due to my profession (sales), and it s very rare to receive this level of attentiveness, it felt nice. You have got a customer for life!!!!! Parking: I parked in an open lot, right across Moretti s and walked over - it s literally a 1 minute walk. Cost - $15-$25 cash ($25 if there is a game or other event) Wheelchair accessibility: Beautiful elevator to take straight up to the dining rooms and washrooms are easily accessible too.
Really gorgeous food and Instagram worthy. The best part? The taste backs it up! Service is also really attentive and everyone there worked as a team. I brought my toddler and infant and the staff were super patient with them. Excellent food and service all around.
My dining experience at Akira Back was nothing short of exceptional. Starting from the ambiance to the service and the food, everything was top-notch. As soon as I entered, I was welcomed by a warm, inviting atmosphere. The interior decor was tastefully done, showcasing a perfect blend of modern and traditional aesthetics. I love that there is a DRESS CODE. Come dressed in your finest looks! The service was impeccable. The staff, Joshua, Greg, and the manager (beautiful woman with brown medium-length hair. Sorry I forgot her name) was attentive, knowledgeable, and very courteous. They took their time to explain the menu and made excellent recommendations based on our preferences. They were prompt yet unintrusive, striking a perfect balance. Coming to the star of the show - the food. The menu, inspired by traditional Japanese cuisine with a Korean twist, was extensive, offering a wide array of options for both vegetarians and non-vegetarians. The dishes were aesthetically pleasing and had a harmony of flavors that danced on the palate. Every dish showcased Chef Akira Backs mastery and attention to detail. The highlight of the evening was the chefs special Omakase menu. It was a culinary journey that allowed us to sample various dishes, each with its unique taste and presentation. It was an adventure for the taste buds and definitely worth the price. In conclusion, Akira Back offers a transcendent dining experience. Its a symphony of ambiance, service, and culinary excellence. Its not just a meal; its an experience that stays with you. I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience.
Great experience, from the moment we entered, the level of hospitality was top notch!I don t remember the lady s name but you made us feel welcome :) , the food amazing, we were served by Willow and she made the experience even better with her great attention to details and making sure we were having a good time all evening. Will definitely come back once I m visiting Toronto again.
Absolutely incredible service by Kate & Amir for my birthday dinner! Everything from start to finish was A1. This restaurant is the real deal. Delectable food choices included the Crispy Octopus, Show Me the Roll Sushi & Sea Bass with Brussel Sprouts. Everything was delicious!
Akira Back exceeded all expectations! The food was nothing short of amazing, with each dish bursting with flavor and creativity. However, what truly set this dining experience apart was our exceptional waitress, Willow. After a long day at a conference, Willows attentive and personable service made all the difference. She anticipated our needs, ensured everything was taken care of, and truly elevated the entire experience. Our team unanimously agrees: wed come back just for Willow. Thank you for the outstanding service tonight!
This place is great. 5 star every time we come. Our server Jen was super cool. Well be back.
This was the perfect venue to celebrate my wife s birthday. The service was outstanding. We had a table just as I had requested and were promptly served Prosecco on the house to start the birthday celebration. The food was exceptional. Presentation of food and drink was first class, and every bite was bliss. Easily one of the best dining experiences we ve had in Toronto. Definitely making this a return stop for special occasions. If you love Japanese food and in particular sushi and sashimi, you MUST try this place!
Akira Back is one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto. This place has accommodations for everyone(vegan, gluten free e.t.c.) and the restaurant itself is a work of art. Not to mention the service is impeccable, all the servers are pro s and I would like to especially thank our server Willow. She went above and beyond tonight, taking amazing photos of my friends and I and thoroughly walking us through the menu. If you like Japanese cuisine Akira is a absolute must.
Unprofessional staff. Saw a poor host being shouted at by what appeared to be a coworker or manager at the front door which left a bad taste. The camera flashes from customers is ridiculous and needs to be controlled. Would NOT recommend.
This was my first time going to this restaurant with my boyfriend and it was good vibes. Josh our server was one of the best servers i have ever had, his customer service skills were a 10/10. I was very pleased with the services!
We are a group of 8 that went to Akira back to celebrate a birthday. Gloria coordinated our party and did a walk through with me prior to ensure I was happy with the space. She demonstrated an exceptional level of dedication and attention to detail in coordinating my cousins birthday dinner. Not only did they meticulously curate a menu tailored to our preferences, but they also ensured that the table decor and ambiance were perfectly aligned with the celebratory spirit of the occasion. Customized table settings adorned with elegant floral arrangements and tasteful accents set the stage for a memorable dining experience. Additionally, Gloria went the extra mile to incorporate balloons and custom table settings. Their commitment to providing a personalized and memorable dining experience truly elevated the evening and made it one to remember. I wholeheartedly commend Gloria and the whole team at Akira Back for their exemplary service and dedication to exceeding expectations. This is a venue that doesn t just provide food and beverage, but a level of service that is unmatched. Hospitality at its finest.
Non-traditional Japanese food. The mixed dishes are well presented and tasty. The waiters have a positive attitude and explain the dishes every time they are served. Its just that the environment is a bit too dark. * Did not click on the Seasonal Special Menu, just for recording.
Albert, at the bar was the best. Talked me thru the menu and drinks, made for a great dinner coming over from the hotel. Cheers!!!
The atmosphere and the food were great.
Worst customer services EVER. Delivered food in wrong tables and served coffee that we havent orderd. Dessert was way too DRY. It took more then 10mintues to serve our dessert. It is my hubbys birthday today and server didnt get any notice from HOSTESS.
It s an amazing restaurant, the food is soooo good and fresh. Definitely recommended
My fiancée and I came here to celebrate our engagement. Our server Josh and the entire staff were very hospitable and the food was delicious. At the end of our meal we were surprised with complimentary tea and dessert. We will definitely be returning and recommending this place to our family & friends.
I was quite pleased with everything at this restaurant. I usually go to restaurants like this, expecting to pay a higher price for my meals. I was actually very surprised at my bill in comparison, to what I ate. atmosphere is beautiful picturesque and the food is delectable. The rock shrimp was the best. Also, Service was really great. This restaurant is a part of a hotel, so the crowd is a mix of evening attire, and you might see guest from the hotel arriving in comfy attire. The geisha drink tastes great and came With a beautiful presentation. Valet parking is available with the hotel at the cost And this was really convenient.
Food was on point and every dish was delicious. My favorite was the wagyu beef! The dessert was also amazing and picture worthy. Overall atmosphere was vibrant and the interior is Would definitely return, because their service is top notch on top of everything else.
Still by far my favourite restaurant in the city! We came for a birthday party of 10, and the food and service were exceptional. All the staff are so attentive and the food was coursed out perfectly. A big thank you to the manager Gloria for making our birthday girl feel so special! Favourite dishes: yellowtail serrano, tuna pizza, wagyu tacos, Alaskan king crab, king crab fried rice, mushrooms toban
Everything was perfect. One of the best restaurant so far. The food and service was perfect! Thanks to Nishan for this amazing experience.
Poor experience. Reserved for a milestone birthday. We arrived on time and after 70 minutes with our mains still on our plates we were told we had to leave as the next reservation had arrived. I have never been so disappointed in service at a restaurant, let alone one of this calibre. Would not recommend.
My group and I had a lovely time at Akira! The ambiance was nice, the food was delicious, and our server Willow was a 10/10 :)
had a lovely experience at akira back! the wagyu fried rice, spicy tuna sushi and pop rocket was delicious. great service from chris and ghada. will definitely be back <3
I came to eat dinner with my best friend. Such a wonderful experience! The food and drinks were amazing! Thank you to Gloria, Chris and Brian for making our visit so memorable and special.
Exceptional service and food is amazing. The manager Gloria made sure our experience was worth the visit.
I went here recently for my 1 year anniversary with my boyfriend. Our waitress was amazing and the food good.
The food is salty. And the quality doesn t match our expectations. The atmosphere and furnishings are ok. Service is average. Wouldn t go for a second visit. There are lots of better choices.
Rysha was amazing! I serve and I never devote as much of myself to my work as she does. She did above and beyond for us tonight on my best fiends 29th birthday. Highly recommended this establishment & their service !
Rysha, Best waitress ever!!!
Our party had the best time, but the most amazing part of our dinner was our server Rysha!!! She was sooo kind, and her service was immaculate and she really went out of her way to take care of our table. She made my friend s birthday so special
Exceptional experience from beginning to end. Fantastic vibe & outstanding service from our waitress Risha, the managers Chris & Emma and the GM, Gloria. A 10/10 evening. Delicious food with an innovative menu that will keep you coming back for more! - Jaimie & Adam
First time at this place. Lovely interior designs but a little too dark and hard to see. Dress code: some dressed to impress and some were in regular tshirt/ jeans and sneakers. Food was decent but not amazing. The grilled fish was super salty. Nothing special about the sushi rolls we ordered. The best was the Wagyu! This place is on the pricier side will most dishes around mid $20s and up, including apps. Service was good. Bill came to almost 400.
Service and ambiance was an easy 10/10 but the food was quite disappointing. The sashimi tacos were fun but bland. The rice in the wagyu fried rice was good but again bland, we had to douse it in soy sauce. The brother from another mother roll was probably the most flavourful and not bad. We also ordered the protein roll which was pretty disappointing, just cheap pieces of fish on top (that werent very fresh and weirdly chewy cuz they use the cheaper parts of the fish) and the inside is just imitation crab meat. The worst thing was definitely the crispy rice, the rice was chewy and and sticky making it difficult to eat and the cajun in the tuna was so overpowering. Overall, would love to return but the food is just too bland or not balanced, very disappointing.
Server was amazing, attentive , and very kind. Sat us down quickly and the quality of the food was not disappointing at all!! Food
I recently dined at Akira Back and was blown away by the food, atmosphere, and especially the amazing bartender. The dishes were exquisite, each bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. The ambiance was inviting and sophisticated, providing the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable dining experience.
Do your tastebuds a favour and visit Akira Back at least once in your life. Get the tuna + mushroom pizza and thank me for introducing you to possibly the best flavour explosion youve ever had in your life. Follow that up with the crab fried rice OR the wagyu tacos and fall in love with cuisine perfection. The decor and ambience makes you feel just as rich as the decadent AB Cigar to accompany your upscale bubble tea with the Oocha. Trust me when I tell you if you havent been here for a special occasion yet, get ready to WOW your special someone, your client, your family, or even yourself with how incredible the service and food here is. Special shoutout to our bartender the night we visited, Brian, and an amazing host, Gloria, who both made sure we were taken care of throughout the evening. Service staff was excellent and Arif made sure we understood the chefs vision behind every dish. Not kidding when I say 10/10, would recommend! Excuse the unprofessional photos, its hard to let the food sit when it tastes this good so we had to snap the pics quick.
Akira back has the best food in Toronto - from the quality of thr food to the ambience of the entire experience, I highly recommend Akira to those looking for a stellar menu and service. Our server Shaun was so kind and charming and made us feel so welcomed. Hands down one of the prettiest restaurants I ve been to.
Service was very good and our server was super attentive and pleasant. The food, unfortunately, disappointed. Presentation was top notch. Taste, nothing special, compared to many better sushi restaurants all over the city, it did not impress at all. Ive found mystery box waste of money, all show (dry ice) and not much in substance. I liked selection of sake; wife and I sacrificed a bottle ;-).
Visited for dinner and had a great time. The grilled Alaskan king crab and sushi platter were both amazing so I would highly recommend both. The chocolate in a cup dessert was one of the best desserts I ve ever had. Our server was very attentive and the interior gave a fancy vibe.
I have been here multiple times now and the service is impeccable, the ambiance is incredible, and the servers and management treat you as if youre in their own home. I was last served by Greg and Chris and they both made our experience memorable. I will definitely be coming back throughout the year. Thanks!
Excellent food and excellent experience. Service was excellent and we were always cared for. Strongly recommend the Wagyu Tacos and Short Rib dishes.
One of my favourite in Toronto!
During a recent visit to Akira Back in Toronto, nestled in the heart of the citys bustling dining scene, my party of four embarked on a culinary journey that was both impressive and intermittently disappointing due to service issues. Our dining adventure coincided with a major conference, bringing us to this establishment as walk-ins amidst a sea of reservations. On the culinary front, Akira Back shines. The tacos were a delightful surprise, packing a punch of flavor and creativity, easily becoming a highlight of our meal. The corn tempura was another standout, its delicate crispiness and sweet flavor perfectly executed. The Pop Rockin roll was an absolute showstopper a fusion of taste and fun that left us wishing we had ordered double. The Jidori chicken provided a comforting, delicious reprieve from the more adventurous selections, underscoring the kitchens versatility and skill. However, not every dish was a hit. The crispy octopus fell flat, lacking the vibrancy and excitement found in the rest of the menu. It was a rare misstep in an otherwise delightful meal. The service, while friendly and well-intentioned, was marred by the restaurant being understaffed for the occasion. Our server, despite her best efforts, appeared overwhelmed, leading to prolonged periods where we were left with dirty plates and no attention. This was attributed to the unexpected influx of walk-ins during the conference, a scenario the restaurant seemed ill-prepared for. This experience underscores the critical balance between kitchen excellence and front-of-house efficiency. Akira Back undoubtedly excels in delivering culinary delights but was momentarily let down by service delays. I would encourage the management to take note of local events, such as the annual conference that coincided with our visit, to better anticipate staffing needs. Such foresight could significantly enhance the dining experience, ensuring that the service matches the high quality of the cuisine. In conclusion, while the meal was memorable for its flavors, the service aspects left room for improvement. I remain optimistic, however, that this feedback will prompt adjustments, making Akira Back not just a destination for fantastic food but also for impeccable service. Despite the hiccups, I would recommend this restaurant to fellow food enthusiasts, with a gentle reminder to maybe steer clear of the octopus and to brace for potential service delays during busy times.
The environment was amazing and I enjoyed the food. The presentation was well-done. The price, however, was definitely quite expensive. Also, 20% tip was automatically included in the bill, which I guess is normal with a lot of high-end restaurants, but not something I like to see. Once in a while still worth to try it out though.
The food was delicious, wonderful and extensive menu both food and cocktail wise . The chef came by to say hello which was a wonderful touch, our waitress was very helpful and attentive. We sat at the bar for the last couple drinks and were very impressed by them, very knowledgeable and talented, made some great suggestions ! Will absolutely be returning and would most definitely recommend! Oh, the atmosphere is also unique and very beautiful to top it off
service was pleasant, came here on a monday night and it was not too busy. got the geisha drink and the presentation was amazing along with the other dishes. food taste was great, it was freshly prepared and i would recommend the wagyu fried rice as it was not heavy at all. Parking: always hard to find parking in toronto, best to find a nearby parking garage
Top tier food and even better service, extremely kind and friendly environment, very nice servers and server assistants that have great knowledge of the food they serve. Been to many sushi places but this is probably the best in the GTA. Overall 10/10 would definitely recommend
Service took a very long time to take orders, and brought the wrong items multiple times. One person in the group had an allergy, and service failed to notify them that the item they ordered was an allergy risk until the rest of the table had food delivered to the table. This person then had to re-order and eat later than everyone else at the table. To finish off the bill came late.
Great memory
Akira back is one of the best restaurants Ive ever been to . Highly recommend
Akira back s quality is consistent. It s been the same ever since they opened to today. However one thing has changed and it s critical. Their food is great although their portions are small and over priced. They use good and fresh ingredients so it s fine. I loved the food but their service is mediocre. Nobody asked how the dishes are tasting during the entire dining time. We asked for dishes to come one by one but that wasn t delivered properly either. We got the bill, see a 20% gratuity already added to the total amount. First of all, it was my friend and I so a group of 2 people. It wasn t a huge group dinner. Second of all, if they had not forced the 20% gratuity, my experience would have been much better. Our gift card wasn t even working either. We expressed our unhappy experience regarding the 20% gratuity. Eventually the server/manager (not sure) said that they will take it off the bill. We d have gladly tipped 15% and left the place in good mood but you know, it s not the same anymore. Disappointing.
Great service, incredible food and innovative drinks. This upscale Japanese restaurant should be on your devour list when in Toronto. Would recommend: crispy rice, sashimi tacos, wagyu tacos, sashimi platter and show me roll. Recommended dishes
Pricey but it s freakin good!! We went for an early dinner and it wasn t too busy. The staff were attentive. We had a little hiccup with using the gift card due to technical difficulties. Gloria the general manager took our gift card and assured us that she will revise the bill once the system was up and running. Later that night she made everything right and sent me a revised bill via text. Shows professionalism.
Akira Never Go Back This is an updated review from a prior one where I had a good experience. This restaurant appears to have let their service and food go. I went for dinner and ordered a variety of food from the menu and asked the waitress to bring it out accordingly spaced out so everything isn t out at the same time. They did NOT listen and brought every single thing we ordered at the same time. All hot dishes ended up cold, the service was bad and shocked we complained about not being able to eat everything at once and the fact they rushed our dinner in 35 minutes. Nobu is coming!!!!
The atmosphere and ambience is fitting for a celebration - great for photos. Most dishes tastes good but more on the pricier end, and service was average. A memorable dish was their cigar dessert that looked like a real cigar but was a flavor-packed sweet treat.
Great food, portion size a little smaller than average to me but everything was very good & the drinks are AMAZING!
One of the best Japanese restaurants in the city! Nishant is so kind and an amazing bartender! Worth the visit just for him!
Worth it for the atmosphere alone, though the food was fantastic as well.
Food is amazing but the service is average for the price that you pay. Also the experience could be better if they turned the music down a little, you can barely hear the person sitting right next to you.
Pros: Most of the food was fantastic with the sashimi tacos being a clear standout. The infamous stairwell is a beautiful place for pictures. The waiter was very informative and friendly and even recommended getting a certain dish over another. As it was our anniversary we recieved a little piece of cake which was thoughtful on their part. Cons: The music is far too loud, feels more like a cheaper restaurant than one which is catered towards a bit finer dining. Because of this people are also very loud to talk over the music. One of the dishes was completely inedible (the Wagyu rice). I had asked a waiter (not out waiter however) to take it back, he didnt offer an alternative, for the chefs to fix his mistake nor any compensation on a dish we didnt eat. Huge disappointment in a place of this calibre.
Amazing food. Atmosphere and great service. You have to check it out.
Exceptional and warm service, coupled with delectable cuisine, makes this establishment one of my preferred dining spots in Toronto. The attentive staff consistently ensures a delightful experience, and the culinary offerings are simply exquisite. The inviting atmosphere and impeccable ambiance contribute to an overall perfect dining setting. This restaurant undoubtedly stands out as a top choice for those seeking a memorable and enjoyable meal in the heart of Toronto. My 3 go-tos are tuna/truffle pizza, mushroom toban and wagyu fried rice. These 3 are a must!!
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Akira Back restaurant and I must say, it was an absolutely incredible experience. From the moment I walked through the door, I felt a warm and welcoming atmosphere that set the tone for the entire evening. The star of the show, however, was the general manager, Gloria. Her professionalism and attention to detail were truly remarkable. She went above and beyond to ensure that every aspect of our dining experience was perfect. Glorias knowledge of the menu and her ability to recommend the most delicious dishes made our dining experience truly unforgettable. She was attentive, friendly, and genuinely cared about our satisfaction. The food at Akira Back was nothing short of exceptional. Each dish we ordered was a work of art, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. From the mouthwatering sushi rolls to the perfectly cooked steaks, every bite was a delight for the senses. The attention to detail in the preparation and plating of each dish was truly impressive. The ambiance of the restaurant was also worth mentioning. The modern and stylish decor created a sophisticated yet comfortable environment. The attention to detail in the design and layout of the restaurant was evident, and it added to the overall dining experience. I must also commend the staff for their exceptional service. Every member of the team was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. From the moment we were seated to the moment we left, we felt well taken care of and valued as guests. In conclusion, my experience at Akira Back restaurant was absolutely outstanding. Gloria, the general manager, played a pivotal role in making it such a memorable evening. Her professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care for our satisfaction truly elevated the dining experience. The food was exceptional, with each dish being a culinary masterpiece. The ambiance was stylish and inviting, and the staff provided impeccable service throughout. I highly recommend Akira Back restaurant, and I extend my deepest appreciation to Gloria and the entire team for creating an unforgettable dining experience.
Had an horrible experience at Akira for My Partners Birthday. Wagyu tacos came out luke warm twice . I would think addressing the issue it would be fixed second time around and nothing . Cold. Wagyu tacos. On too the main course seared seabass was the only hot thing that came out. The Brussels sprouts were cold and the sauce is cold. The manager addressed the sous chef about my concerns and he behaved unprofessional by laughing . This wasnt my first time at Akira Vegetable rice was cold itself. I truly hope management does a better job. A cold meal that should never been paid for.
Gloria is just amazing.
This is a must try restaurant. Everything that we got was delicious. One of the top dishes that I recommend is the Miso Black Cod and the Filet Mignon. Even though I ve had these dishes before in other places, this restaurant incorporates unique and savoury flavours.
We were pretty mind blown by the food, particularly the crispy rice fish and the unagi. The fried rice was amazing too. Honestly everything was amazing but the crispy rice and unagi were just kind blowing. We celebrated my bday here and we loved our evening. Great service and atmosphere too!!
The ambient of this restaurant is perfect for a date night/ friend s night. Perfect balance between formal and casual. I would like to also thank our hostess (Caroline) for going above and beyond during my entire dinner. Can t wait to come back!
This meal was unreal. Incredible food, fabulous presentation, great service. We came in with no reservation, promptly seated. Ordered the spinach, fried octopus, yellowtail Serrano, scallops, show me the roll and the protein roll. The spinach and octopus were my favourites. They were incredible. Everything was plated perfectly. The protein roll was delicious but a bit rich for me after having 2 pieces. Thanks for an amazing experience. Go here! It s worth the $.
Food was very good, service was absolutely atrocious. From bringing half the tables food and forgetting the other half s for 30 min. To never bringing our drinks until we asked 3 times. Not worth the high prices Food : 4/5
