Chotto Matte Toronto is a vibrant restaurant infusing Japanese and Peruvian cuisines. Opened in June 2019, the restaurant boasts a colorful décor, perfect for enjoying innovative cocktails and an exciting culinary fusion.
Chotto Matte, meaning 'just a minute' in Japanese, is a vibrant restaurant and bar in the downtown core, adjacent to Union Station. Its location is extremely convenient for travelers and locals. Upon entering, we felt as though we had entered a bold, cool, and colorful realm. The stylish bar was an immediate attention-grabber. The open concept design and massive graffiti murals on the walls made a lasting impression. As someone who appreciates art, I was thoroughly inspired. We were seated at a table near the sushi bar, where we felt immersed in a breezy, urban atmosphere. Every design element was carefully crafted, rekindling my interest in interior design. The designer's bold palette is praiseworthy, encouraging exploration and admiration. We had a positive and enjoyable dining experience. The waitress was attentive and courteous, offering recommendations. As first-time visitors, we selected the simple lunch set, choosing the earth lunch set and the land and sea option. We were impressed by the generous portions and enjoyed the tuna tataki, wagyu beef spring rolls, and pollo picante of the land and sea lunch. As well the earth menu featured delicious wagyu beef spring rolls, crispy chicken karage and pollo nipon. The portions were generous, and the price was reasonable for a quick, enjoyable lunch. We intend to return to sample the Japanese dishes, including sushi and sashimi. The upstairs washrooms incorporate a dark tone and a serial concept. We walked through a dark glass tunnel adorned with a colorful mural at the end. Initially, the washroom was quite dark, necessitating a brief period of visual adjustment to navigate. The individual cubicles feature heavy doors, making it hard to determine if they are occupied. Some comments mentioned that the black heavy doors are difficult to open from inside. I felt a bit uneasy when trying to open the black door. A distinctive design feature was the flower-shaped mirrors that illuminate when the tap is turned on. It was interesting to observe oneself in the lit mirrors. However, I appreciate the dark bold yet secretive design theme that echoes from the exterior to the interior of the washroom. The experience of visiting the washroom is comparable to traversing a unique and unusual visual landscape. In my view, investing in a memorable experience justifies paying just a touch bit more and Chotto Matte delivers flavours to enjoy and an experience to remember. We had a wonderful and elegant lunch at Chotto Matte. My amateur photographer's instincts led me to capture many photos, yet images alone cannot fully capture the essence of the vibrant and impressive ambiance and atmosphere.
This was a place we had wanted to go to for some time. Wow was it worth the wait! The food was fantastic- we chose the Chefs experience with premium wine pairing. Service was impeccable. Definitely highly recommended!
One of my favourite dining experiences in a while now. This Japanese - Peruvian fusion place has dishes that are thoughtfully put together. I’m a big fan of octopus and the octopus dish here was done extremely well. Drinks were also well crafted. The atmosphere here is quite unique and worth a visit just for the visuals! Great service as well.
I loved Chotto Matte! We felt so welcomed when we entered for our Sunday dinner reservation. The first thing I saw was the neon sign above reception “come as you are”. We sat in the lounge and just enjoyed the decor, which was a nice start to our evening. The service and food was excellent. We did the Steak & Sushi set meal and enjoyed every bite. The sushi was delicately made to perfection with Peruvian flavour and touches. Definitely want to come back!
This was our first time at Chotto Matte and it definitely won’t be our last. We came on Saturday for the Jungle Brunch and all the food had was amazing. What a surprise to meet Seth and the parrot and cockatiel that he brought with him. He brought the birds around to every table and they interacted with everyone who wanted to participate. What a great addition to brunch . There was a fire dancer as well. Out server was also amazing and recommended several dishes that we shared in our group. Do yourself a favour and book a table.
A birthday experience to remember! The food, staff, and ambiance was truly delightful! They allowed us to try two different tasting menus and make modifications so we had a variety of items to try! I don’t usually like ceviche and it was one of my favorite dishes. The peppers were amazing as well as the waygu. We Also enjoyed the chicken dish, the salmon, as well as the fresh sushi! The service was exceptional, the manager also assisted us several of times. The torched sushi and drinks was great added entertainment! Not only did the bring me a birthday dessert, they also customized a drink based on the spirit I was drinking. Thank you for a great birthday celebration!
This was our first visit to Chotto Matte, but certainly won't be the last. From our first step inside, the greeters were friendly and attentive. Outstanding cocktail from the bar started our evening, followed by the most incredible tasting menu. Dishes were fresh, flavourful and service was perfect. We enjoyed a lovely 4 course wine pairing with our meal. The entire experience was beyond expectations! Highly recommend for a special night out!
Enjoyed our anniversary! Atmosphere is pretty unique and the food quality I do think it’s on the higher scale side which we enjoyed. I did enjoy their level of service as they accommodated through our dinner. Steak is great and can’t forget about the octopus! Everything is pretty good. Just go there and enjoy a bit of different style of Japanese food!
Came for late cocktails and menu. They have 2:1 cocktails after 9pm. They have a separate section for food area and drinks, the restaurant is very well decorated, a mix of Peruvian and Japanese, interesting mix, great chefs. We also got fire entertainment.
So much fun at the Jungle Brunch! Great food and that parrot was the star!
From the moment you walk in the door, the Jungle Brunch experience exceeds expectations. The atmosphere immediately offers a welcoming, upscale but not pretentious environment. From the greeters to the knowledgeable and friendly servers. With a diverse and exciting menu offering japanese / peruvian fusion. This was my second visit to Chotto Matte for the Saturday Jungle Brunch. Food coming from 5 kitchens within Chotto, everything that came to the table was a feast for the eyes, and the taste buds. The Chicken and Waffles, The Dolce de Leche Pancakes, The Sushi Donut, the spicy edamame, paired with a choice of 4 bottomless drinks. It is a food fusion experience unlike any other in Toronto. The atmosphere is fresh, the vibe is welcoming. The fire dancer is mesmerizing. My favourite part of the jungle brunch without a doubt is meeting Seth and his beautiful parrots. Even offering a photo op with the parrots, leaves us with lasting memories, and an experience unlike any other in Toronto. Thank you Chotto Matte! 5 Stars doesnt seem enough.
One of my favorite places to go!
Great resturant, great Japanese fusion food.
Always fabulous unique dishes with great service by Andres!
Food was so good. Allen, the chef, was so kind and considerate - he brought food out early for my sister who s got dietary restrictions. We were a party of 18 for a bride-to-be. Thanks, Allen - we can t wait to come back here :)
My wife and I walked in with our 6 year old and no reservations at 4:45pm; the restaurant was empty except for a single table of 5 but we were told they were expecting reservations and could only accommodate us at the bar. We agreed assuming that the restaurant would quickly fill up but it never did. We finished our dinner and left at 5:50 pm and still 90% empty. No one thought to offer us a table when none of their reservations showed up. We ate a very delicious dinner very uncomfortably. Our server was wonderful but front of house could use some training!
Ive been wanting to try chotto for a while. And I was not disappointed! Very spacious and vibey interior. I loved the atmosphere. The service was attentive and friendly. Loved the cocktails, specifically wabi sabi and sawakaya. They have lots of vegetarian options and my partner enjoyed the fresh fish as well! I didnt love the mushroom tostada. It had a sweet bbq flavour that I didnt enjoy. But would definitely come back
The service 10 out of 10
Nov2024 Japanese Peruvian Fusion restaurant along the main Financial District and harborfront areas. The food is duly prepared by skilled cooks in separate open kitchens providing a casual atmosphere. The food preparation is therefore not coordinated so it is best to allow for sharing or short orders. The food is as balanced as the drinks that pair well. Do consider having a wide range or if you want a more structures dining experience order from the same courses. The desserts were also light and casual. Chotto Matte meaning wait a sec or in this contect small plates or tapas thus defining the whole resto concept. Having said all that the servers are the key to having a pleasurable time as they are very knowledgeable and skilled in crafting you a course. Steve was very much a part of our memory of that dinner. The layout is modern with a bit of tapas bar and club feel. Dinners are relatively dark and intimate as you are mostly amongst the corporate crowds. The toilets are unique though not easily accessible as you need to tackle a rather high stairway. Chotto Matte is ideal for intimate dining and small party groups.
Came here sometime in 2023 and it remains one of the worst dining experiences Ive ever had. For a meal over $100, I cant believe how rubbery the octopus was and how wimpy the chicken wings were. On top of having a seat that was unsteady and constantly being moved by the guest behind me, the music was obnoxiously loud.
Amazing service!
Horrible customer treatment. I had booked two weeks in advance for a birthday party and they had the audacity to call and cancel less than 24hrs before the dinner. Because someone booked a private event. This is not how you treat customers. You should be able to accommodate all parties or not take the second reservation and cancel on people who booked in advance
Very nice spot on Front St in Toronto, staff is knowledgeable and friendly, some of the best octopus Ive ever tried.
Black Cod is a must. Theyve changed their deluxe menu. Disappointed to see a green dragon roll.
I recently dined at Chotto Matte, and it was an incredible experience from start to finish. The restaurant s ambiance is stunning, with a modern, artistic decor that perfectly complements the vibe of the place. I opted for the vegetarian tasting menu, which included around six or seven courses, each more delicious than the last. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor, showcasing the creativity and skill of the chefs. The service was equally impressive; our server, Alice, was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making our evening even more enjoyable. Her attention to detail and passion for the menu truly stood out. Overall, Chotto Matte is a must-visit for anyone looking for exceptional food, an amazing atmosphere, and top-notch service. Highly recommended!
Chic Peruvian spot. Great food and vibes.
We celebrated my husband s birthday at Chotto Matte, and it was an amazing experience! The cocktails were exceptional highly recommend the Chicha Sagrada, Camino, and Pisco Sour. The dishes were outstanding; the ceviche was fresh and flavorful, the asado de tira was perfectly tender, and the arroz chaufa with crispy duck leg was a delicious highlight. For dessert, the churros and passion fruit crème brûlée were the perfect ending to our meal. The service was extraordinary, and the manager came out to make the birthday celebration even more special. I can t wait to come back!
Great service from Randall and the entire service team last night! Ive been to Chotto many times and always have a great evening. Food, service and atmosphere is always amazing.
Excellent food. Service was SO slow. We asked for our waiter for 30min before they finally showed up. We could never get our water refilled throughout dinner. Food came out quickly once we could get it ordered, but the trouble was getting the attention of our waiter to place orders. The inattentive service diminished the overall experience and we ended up cutting our meal short to go somewhere else. Dietary restrictions: Very gluten free friendly.
You know you ve found a good restaurant when you try something SIMPLE and it blows your mind. Edamame. Omg. I never thought it was possible to revamp the way other restaurants prepare edamames and make them taste so good!!! The octopus is out of this world. The chicken, too. I could go the whole night. Super food! Super night.
Portions were smaller than expected for the pancakes but them being delicious made up for it The drinks were a bit watered down but that s what you expect from bottomless brunch.
Definitely my favourite restaurant in the city. I love their chef menu and any of the sushi or small plates.
Disappointing experience. Hostess tried seating us at a bar by the overly smokey grill in a 3/4 full restaurant citing reservations. After insisting on a table and being seated there, no one showed up at the 4 empty tables around us for the two hours we were there. Poor treatment of very loyal customers. Sent the octopus back - overcooked and very chewy. Wagyu spring rolls over fried and tasted burnt. Shishito peppers lacked usual flavour. Braised beef crackers were good. Been here many times, this was a very disappointing experience.
Tasting menu is a must try. Gets lively during lunch but Monday evening was quiet. Good for a business meal
Pretty good cocktail (kakigori). Interior was really pretty!
Delicious Halal Food
Theres having a nice dinner at a restaurant, and then there is a food experience where you sample unique and delicious flavour combinations you have never had before. This was definitely the latter, a fantastic food experience! I dont live in Toronto, but I have been to Chotto Matte twice already. The wait staff are also exceptional. I highly recommend this place!
Loved the experience, such a dope setting, trendy vibes. This is definitely!
Dakota made our experience unforgettable and makes some of the best cocktails in the city!
Amazing experience! Dakota was incredible, so talented! Highly recommend :)
A huge thank you to Dakota for making our evening so special!
Our first visit to Chotto Matte was an unforgettable sensory experience that began the moment we stepped through the doors. Greeted warmly by the reception staff, we were immediately drawn into the vibrant ambiance splashes of color, alluring lighting, and mellow DJ beats created an atmosphere that felt both sophisticated and inviting. Our server, Alice, was exceptional, her knowledge of the menu and genuine enthusiasm enriching our experience. We chose the Nikkei Menu Deluxe ($175 per person, with an optional wine pairing) and were treated to a carefully curated array of dishes: Shishito Peppers, Yellowtail Nikkei Sashimi, Toro Nigiri, Dragon Roll, Jumbo Shrimp Tempura, BBQ Huacatay Broccolini, Tentáculos De Pulpo, Black Cod Aji Miso, and Australian Grade 8-9 Wagyu. Each dish was beautifully presented, bursting with flavor, and executed with precision. The freshness of the ingredients stood out, while each bite offered a delightful complexity that reflected the restaurant s fusion of Japanese and Peruvian influences. Alice took the time to describe each dish s unique elements and frequently checked in to make sure we were enjoying every moment. Her attentiveness, combined with Hassan s (the General Manager) thoughtful hospitality, made us feel well cared for throughout the meal, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the experience. Chotto Matte is a must-visit for anyone looking for a dynamic dining experience. We re already looking forward to our next visit!
Hands down one of my favourite restaurants. The food, the vibe, service and cocktails are a 10/10. Highly recommend. You wont be disappointed.
$400 later...and an overall disappointing experience
Had a lovely time with my niece and her boyfriend today at Chotto Matte. Service was excellent, hostess Rebecca was particularly helpful, she told me proactively where the bathrooms were (something I was not told about my last time there). Server Sydney was also very nice and helpful. Overall a pleasant experience!
Amazing food and amazing prices
Chotto Matte is a peruvian inspired Japanese dining at the heart of Toronto. We really enjoyed their take on Japanese food - from yellow tail ceviche, tuna tataki, toro nigiri to striploin steak. They were superbly prepared and reflect high quality fine dining. The service we received from Grace and restaurant manager Hassan are some of the best hospitality we encountered in Toronto or anywhere really. We felt welcomed. We will be coming back.
I recently attended an industry wedding planning event at Chotto Matte, and it was an incredible experience! The fusion of Peruvian and Japanese cuisine was nothing short of amazing every dish was a delightful explosion of flavors. The cocktails were equally impressive, refreshing, and expertly crafted. A special shoutout to Madison, who provided outstanding service throughout the event. She took the time to familiarize us with the venue and shared how my clients could celebrate their milestone events here. Her collaborative spirit and attention to detail make her an exceptional point of contact for any couple planning their wedding. Leigh, the sommelier, was also fantastic. Her enthusiasm for pairing wines with the dishes added a memorable touch to the evening. It s clear the team at Chotto Matte is passionate about creating unforgettable experiences. I d highly recommend this venue for anyone planning a wedding or special event!
The food was hit and miss. The steak was good, the sushi was mostly good, the crispy one wasnt great. There was a rice dish that tasted so smoky/charred that you couldnt taste any other ingredients. The service was terrible, I had to ask for soy sauce multiple times, when they did bring it it was barely enough for one person. Waited for more. When they brought out plates they never once brought the correct plate to the correct person. The design of the bathrooms is comical. Its really dark, which makes me think its probably dirty. Then when you wash your hands the mirrors are backlit and blind you. Just a terrible idea.
My wife and I ate dinner here prior to attending a show. The atmosphere and decor was wonderful. Staff were courteous and attentive through out our meal. We both ordered the tasting menu so we could sample a variety of their dishes as we had never experienced Japanese Peruvian Fusion food before. The dishes were exceptional in taste and presentation. A special thanks to Christian for his hospitality and knowledge of the foods we ate. We would highly recommend this restaurant. Definitely will go back!
Celebrated my 1 year anniversary with my girlfriend here by doing their tasting menu. Everything from start to finish was amazing. The food was excellent, the cocktails were really fun and very tasty, and the service from our waitress and the chef coming out to explain each dish was 10/10. The whole atmosphere of the restaurant was really warm and vibrant. Highly recommend giving this spot a try!
Enjoyed the bento box
We had amazing time and the food was out of this world. The decor and the wonderful staffs service first class. The waitress very helpful to explain whats on the menu. Highly recommend the experience and the delicious food.
Overall experience was fine. Was seated promptly (tons of open tables), staff was courteous, food was good. Menu left more to be desired - over priced and slim selection. For being advertised as a Japanese fusion restaurant Id have expected a few more sushi options. Drinks were way over priced in my opinion.
Jungle Brunch was delightful. Food was delish paired with the bottomless beverages, heavenly. The dessert platter so special, but nothing compared to the wild animal show with Seth from handsonexotics. Thanks for the memorable afternoon. People check it out, wont be unimpressed.
Such a great time. The food!!! Atmosphere is super fun. Saturday Jungle Brunch with Seth Falk from Hands on Exotics and his feathered friends was a bonus. Did I mention the food!! Our server, Andreas, was so knowledgeable and made perfect recommendations for both food and drinks. What a food experience for a special location go. Just steps away from Union Station Toronto
Chotto Matte Saturday Jungle Brunch was epic. Perfect music, signature ambiance, abundant selection of fresh food options, bottomless mimosas (of course) all added up to a great brunch! What made this extraordinary was the interactive #handsonexotic birds, personable animal handler, live entertainment and the exceptional service. We had Andreas as our server; he knew the menu, made great recommendations and treated us like family - worth asking to sit in his section . This was a memory my friends and I will cherish. Thank you Chotto Matte .
One of the best dinning experiences weve had in Toronto. Right from the host to our server paid attention to our needs. As we settled, we inquired if they had halal options on the menu. For the first time, three different staff members came to us to make sure we were taken care of, including one of their chefs who personally informed us of all the customizations they can do for us. The meal was incredible and their cocktails are delicious. We ordered the chicken karage, dragon sushi, bbq salmon and mushrooms. Every dish kept getting better. The final dish was the matcha crepe cake with raspberry crumble, which was one of the most delicious crepe cakes we had. All in all the service was top notch, huge shoutout to our server who absolutely ensured we enjoyed our time, and we did! Definitely coming back. Dietary restrictions: Halal options available
It was great! I really loved the food, ambiance, and atmosphere. The fusion of Peruvian and Japanese cuisine was flawless!
Food is delicious and showcases the variety of Peruvian cuisine, the space is well designed and fun to be in, but the real reason I go for Saturday brunch is to see the amazing jungle birds and animals brought in by Hands On Exotics! Truly a special experience that makes it a dining destination
I had an unforgettable experience at Chotto Matte, thanks to Asenath. Her deep knowledge of the menu and vibrant energy made the evening exceptional. The food was fantastic, and I highly recommend it!
Awesome place with delicious food & drinks, and outstanding service! Our server Josh was amazing!
Never disappoint. Top notch service, delicious sushi and drinks. DJs are killing it every time. Our server Josh was simply amazing. Food
Dakota and Josh gave us a concise but sweet introductory of Chottos history. He was very cheerful, and the service was amazing. Would highly recommend Chotto if you are looking for an upbeat but intimate environment.
This is a great place for cocktails and small shareable bites. Very colourful interior and ambiance. Dakota and Josh took great care of us tonight!
First time here and I was pleasantly surprised with the ambience and service. Dakota and Josh were extremely friendly and accommodating. Cocktails and food were amazing. Highly recommend the sato maki and wabi-sabi
Dakota was a cutie, and definitely gave us the best experience from start to end. Very knowledgeable and kind.
everything about this place was amazing. The food was to die for, the drinks were perfect. The service was above and beyond, with very kind welcoming staff. I cant wait to come back
The food and service is always outstanding I love this restaurant!!
BEWARE of This Restaurant While the music creates a good vibe, it s unclear whether this establishment is aiming for a fine dining experience or a club/lounge atmosphere. The dim lighting at the dinner tables, with small lamps that barely illuminate your food, adds to the confusion. Our server aggressively pushed the prix fixe menu, which felt a bit overbearing. The food itself was decent but nothing particularly memorable. The food came all scattered and some people got everything before the others got one item. The real issue, however, was the level of hygiene and service. My steak was mistakenly served to my friend, and his to me. After I had eaten about 40% of my meal, my friend realized his steak wasn t cooked as ordered, he took one bite. Upon informing the server, he simply switched our plates despite the fact that I had already eaten a portion of mine. We expressed that this wasn t acceptable or hygienic, but the server only offered to make a new steak for my friend, which never actually happened. When we raised the issue while settling the bill, the server s dismissive response of I ll see what I can do was incredibly frustrating, especially considering the serious mishandling of our meals. To make matters worse, my friend, who was the only one to order fish, became ill afterward. Given the plate-swapping we witnessed, I can t help but wonder about the restaurant s kitchen practices. This experience was unprofessional and unacceptable. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who values hygiene or quality service.
If like torched food and drinks this the place to go for fusion tastings. Dakota provided very friendly service and knows his drinks!
great vibes and service
Great atmosphere and knowledgeable staff
Value is low. Better food can be had elsewhere.
My group and I were left extremely underwhelmed with our experience at chotto matte. This was my second, and final time eating here. My first visit was a year ago and just as terrible, as our server left us and never came back. We told her we had to get to a concert and ended up having to track her down for our bill. I gave them a second chance thinking last time was a one off. This time our server started off great. However, things took a quick turn when I witnessed him pick the plate my husband had eaten from and swap it with our friends plate after they made a mistake. They both ordered steaks with different degrees of wellness. My husband ate half of his meal and the server just gave it to our friend and vice versa, instead of getting them both a new steak. That is extremely unhygienic. I was SHOCKED. The waiter then charged our friend for the half eaten steak. He only removed the steak off of our bill. They should have also removed the steak off of our friend s bill. The server promised our friend a new steak, but NEVER BROUGHT IT OUT. If that is the restaurants standard practice in front of the guests. I can t imagine what they re doing behind closed doors in the kitchen. IF YOU CARE ABOUT GOOD HYGIENE PRACTICES AND SAFE FOOD HANDLING, DO NOT EAT HERE
Fabulous service and food. Always love this spot. DJ was fantastic as well as the gorgeous fire dancer just as we were leaving.
I usually dont give poor reviews. But this one had to be done, taking my time out and typing this here. I have always loved dining at chotto matte. Its the prime and welcoming spot, service is always great. My experience on September 13th for Lunch was beyond below average. I had Invited my freind from Bahrain for a meet up and had hyped the place knowing it ll meet beyond expectations. -upon entrance, receptionist was on personal cell phone having us wait to take to the table. -server didnt explain or put effort into explaining the bento box options. -miso soup served was cold, we informed the server..waited for more than 15 mins for the new soup , clearly looked like they reheated or micro waved it and it still wasnt warm. Meanwhile the other components like sushi were brought to the table. -sushi /sashimi tasted good. -Black cod was over charred. -salmon was over cooked and not warm(looked like it sat on the pass for too long) -the rice served was also not warm. -the worst part is the server didnt even offer anything and the apology didnt seem genuine as well. -she did comp 1 bentobox. -the restaurant was not busy, as we and 2 more tables were only seated in the space. I would be very skeptical moving forward to invite any one or take my self out to this spot again, it is sad because chotto matte has had an amazing reputation and the food and service in the past has been excellent.
Had a fantastic experience at Chotto Matte Toronto. Joseph was a fantastic waiter who really took pride in the offerings available. Had the Tasting Menu and Deluxe menu as well as wine pairings. Dietary restrictions: Very accommodating for my wife who eats gluten free because of food allergies. They told us every time when there were dishes she couldn t eat and modified those that could be so she could enjoy them.
Chotto Matte never disappoints and it is always presenting something new and fresh. My colleagues and I went to the Jungle brunch this past Saturday, and they have exotic birds with a professional bird sitter. It was absolutely fantastic and so much fun. The food is constantly changing and so full of flavor, we can hardly wait to come back. Best Pisco sour in town!
Best restaurant! Everything here is 5*!
We had an amazing dinner, thank you to Megan for the great service! Josh, best bartender! Vegetarian options: good options, all taste great.
Great menu options with everything we ordered being a 10/10. Atmosphere was great for a Saturday brunch, they had a DJ and Hands on Exotics was so cool/interactive! Really added to the vibe. Would for sure go back.
Our server was slowed and looked like he forgot about us. The people bringing the food looked like they were in a rush. The food was amazing though. Id recommend training your personnel better
The 2 stars are for the stars that work there... the staff is awesome. They went out of our way to seat us at a different table because it was too loud for our baby. But, the food... was literally pub food. Way too over priced. We had the tasting menu for 3 people was not good. Sorry... I wouldnt. Ever again.
Went for lunch and had the bento boxes. Server was very friendly and helpful. Went through the entire menu and was really accommodating with our Halal options. Also was great with substituting any items as well. Great food Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options Dietary restrictions: Halal availability
The menu offers a variety of Japanese-Peruvian inspired shareable plates and cocktails. Our service was fantastic, they made sure we were taken care of and when we waited too long on an item that they had forgot to put in, they comped us for it. I will say, while I did enjoy the food, it was missing that wow factor, more elevation in the flavours. The Chotto Ceviche was fantastic but could have done without the sweet potato. Another standout dish was the Pollo Den Miso - the chicken was perfectly cooked worked so well with the miso and daikon.
Lovely experience at Chotto Matte mid-August. We were celebrating a recent promotion and the team went out of their way to ensure that we had a great evening. We shared both the Standard and Deluxe Tasting Menus. I would highly recommend this as it really is a great sampling of the restaurants many amazing dishes! These menus are also a nice balance of cold vs hot dishes, and a lovely collection of flavours. So good! This restaurant always has a great vibe (year-round), but I love the patio. You wont be disappointed. Shout out to our main server, Andreas, who went out of his way to ensure we were well cared for. Overall, the team was great - they seemed as happy as we were! One other quick compliment: I felt the meal was well paced. The team was attentive, but never pushy and we didnt feel rushed. Thanks CM team!
Went with my wife on our anniversary they really made everything very special. Thank you.
We had the pleasure of dinning at this amazing restaurant. We order their special steak and sushi pre set menu. Everything was amazing and tasted so good. I would like to give a huge thanks to everyone who was working Sunday Sept 7. From moment we got there my girlfriend needed sugar due to her sugar levels being very low and the hostess right away was able to give us a Gingerale before we can look at the menu. Super helpful and really rushed for our needs. Our server Dakota made the rest of the night so memorable, I ve never had such great customer service in any restaurant. He was so welcoming so intelligent and understanding it truly made the night even more special. Have such amazing over the top food and the amazing service, this will definitely bring us back and will recommend it to our friends and family. Highly recommend the black miso Cod and ask for Andres or Dakota as servers both are exceptional workers
I ve been here many times, but recently came in to try their Jungle Brunch. It was such a lively and interactive experience. We loved it!
Fantastic food, vibe and drinks. Go to gaze upon the wild bankers as they gather around the pools of gin; stay to enjoy a fantastic plate from a vegetarian friendly menu with excellent drinks. Food : 5/5
Great place, great tasting menu! Check it out!
Great service & food! Everything was great, can t wait to return!
Best Japanese fusion restaurant on Bay St. Very beautiful restaurant with a nice patio. Sushi is extremely fresh and tasty.
Really enjoyed my dinner here! Fish was very fresh and the dishes were unique and delicious.
Chotto was the venue for our wedding welcome party and it was absolutely 10/10! There wasnt anything we would change. This event was the highlight of our wedding weekend and that is mostly thanks to our event manger Courtney Taticek! Her attention to detail, communication, imagination and desire to make our event perfect was just unmatched! She completely blew our minds. She worked with us to make our event everything we could have ever imagined. The patio was the perfect spot for our guests. We had a lot of out of town guests so the view of the CNTower was their dream. Not that Courtney could contol the weather (maybe she did cause she was just that good!) but the weather was the perfect summer evening. Chotto and Courtney just knocked it out of the park! If we could get married again our Welcome Party would 100% be at Chotto. Food and Drinks were amazing, as always, but what really blew us away was Courtney. If you ever visit make sure youre speaking with Courtney because she will make all your wedding dreams come true!
It s okay. Interesting decor Food okay Drinks underwhelming but strong Great servers
Food was lame. Doubt i ll be back. Service was so slow it was agonizing.
i think in general, all dishes are tapas style where we basically share every dish. the food were great but definitely on the fancy and very expensive side. the indoor deco is artistic and unique. atmosphere is amazing. overall positive experience if you have the money $$$$ or you will be sad for spending a lot but small portions of food. i love their matcha crepe and crispy squid. not worth for the gyoza
Review from a vegetarian An exquisite dining experience awaits at this Japanese Peruvian fusion gem in Toronto. The absence of crowd allowed for a more intimate and attentive dining experience, showcasing the staff s dedication to detail. The menu features some impressive and unique offerings, such as the Lychee Ceviche, a delightful fusion of flavors that truly stands out. While the wait time for our dishes was longer than expected, it s a testament to the meticulous care and craftsmanship typical of exclusive restaurants. The exclusivity of this establishment is evident not only in its refined ambiance and superior service but also in its pricing. Expect to invest a couple of hundred dollars for a dining experience for two or more a worthwhile expenditure for the quality provided. As an experienced diner, I appreciate the nuances that make this restaurant special, despite some areas for improvement. If you re seeking a sophisticated culinary adventure in Toronto, this is a place to consider. One scope of immediate improvement the Chotto Matte chain has is: Their WEBSITE. In today s world, a flourishing business like theirs can t afford to have a faulty website whose load time is so slow, and links direct to empty pages.
Eh. It was ok. For the asking price I was expecting to be blown away but I wasn t. Not in the least. We got 7 dishes. The ceviche was pretty good. I also enjoyed the octopus. The karaage had me giggling for 15 minutes during the meal. I was in disbelief as to how mediocre it was. It didn t encompass anything remotely close to karaage and it was overcooked. The sushi, salmon and eggplant weren t bad. Very serviceable dishes but nothing amazing. For $200 bucks I expected to be floored but that was unfortunately not the case. One and done for me.
An amazing special occasion place. Also lots of young dating couples.
Dekotas service and attention to detail was outstanding. His cocktails were delicious. The place is a little pricey but its very beautiful and its understandable with the location. Will definitely revisit to try more drinks and dishes
I honestly cannot say anything negative about the experience. Alice our server was impeccable and the food???? !!! Omg!!!! Thank you
Great restaurant greeted by lovely staff, the food was delicious and reasonable our waiter Josh was fantastic and also made great Espresso martinis. We also love Canada
Ambience is really nice. However, Im a big fan of Nikkei food having tried quite a bit of it during my trip to Peru. I can only speak for the dishes I had: Ceviche texture was great but the flavour left a lot to be desired. The sushi was good, no more or less, not what I would expect from fine dining. Amazonian salmon was undercooked, and the sauce was good but nothing crazy. If the dish I like the most are the roasted potatoes, I know something is missing. Maybe would come back for cocktails, but the food I tried didnt do it for me. Maybe youd have a different experience if you werent already used to Nikkei food.
A must go when downtown. We had the tasting menu and everyone really enjoyed it. Real delight. Outstanding service from Josef. Food
Beautiful place and I enjoyed their cocktails. Not very sweet and a good blend of aroma & flavors! Ordered veg tostados and veg sushi and both the dishes were great.
Service and atmosphere was excellent. The food was underwhelming. There is way better sushi to be had at a much lower price point. Was surprised by the simplicity of the sushi. We got the following items: - Tiger roll (best) - dragon roll (mid) - soft crab shell roll (interesting but not great) - bbq salmon (mid) - Peruvian Parmesan potatoes (idk?). Vastly underwhelming
Superb food, service and atmosphere.
This was our 3rd visit to CHOTTO MATTE including two in Toronto and one in London UK. First disappointment, there were fewer types of tasting menus offered at the restaurant than those presented on the website, which left us the choice of an interesting basic +- menu or a menu that was too copious on this heatwave evening. in Toronto. Second disappointment, the tasting menu at $90.00/person + wines at $50.00/person did not have the finesse and refinement of before and consisted of dishes, for some, in very spicy sauces (Amazonian BBQ Salmon and Polo Picante) which made the very essence of the dish disappear. The presented Spicy Chicken Karaage was overcooked, tough and practically charred. On the service side, the young student waiter who came to present the dishes to us gave his lesson in an almost incomprehensible manner. Third disappointment, the tasting menu did not include any dessert to sweeten the rather hot meal and we had to order extra. Fourth disappointment, a bill of over $420.00 for two people which has no proportion to the quality of the meal offered, where we are far from a chefs table. Sorry CHOTTO MATTE, but the finesse of your table is no longer there and it is likely that on our next visit to Toronto or London we will avoid your establishments with their elaborate decorations but now disappointing food!
Great place, love the life music and decoration. Food was amazing m, we love everything that we try, drinks were also delicious. Our server was very friendly and fast, always checking in us, was my birthday and the whole experience was wonderful.
Andres was our server. He did such a phenomenal job. What a pleasant place to spend a birthday at everything was superb.
Highly recommended. The food is fantastic. George our server was amazing. Celebrated our 5 years anniversary and he had little fireworks for us. Decor and vibe are spot on as well
The overall experience was excellent, from start to finish. The service was impeccable and staff were able to resolve any issues we had. The head chef came out to greet us about what we wanted to experience and curated a menu that hit our tastebuds on the bullseye. The highlight of the meal was definitely the A5 Australian wagyu, which was an experience for both the eyes and the tastebuds. We also appreciated the opportunity to try out his oyster mushroom original special, which was spectacular and delicious. We look forward to coming back to Chotto Matte in the many years to come!
When I arrived at this restaurant I expected a much more refined, inventive, generous cuisine.... For 600 dollars for 3 people, much too expensive for the quality of the food, you will find much better in Toronto in terms of taste and value for money. However, the staff was helpful and pleasant, lacking professionalism when sending the dishes and placing the plates on the table.
Delicious! The deluxe tasting menu is worth every bite! Each dish melted in my mouth like butter. Thank you for such high quality experience.
Super cute place! Great for work outings or group outings but also a date night or solo meal would be enjoyed! Ambiance is top tier and I didn t eat but my friends all enjoyed everything.
Terrible service. Slow and the waitress literally ignored our table. Asked for the menu and waited for an hour to receive it and only got from another server. Was not informed that the last dish in the course menu was the last and was confused if we should wait for more. The food was great (although not enough quantity for the price they charge), but the experience overall was poor. This was my first and last time there.
Franz was fabulous
Absolutely fantastic food! The service matched the high quality of the food and atmosphere perfectly. The flavor combinations were incredible, especially the Chotto Ceviche, which was particularly amazing.
Came here with friends to celebrate our last night in Toronto. Had such a wonderful and tasty meal here. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful. They have something for everyone so if someone is allergic to seafood not to worry. The service was attentive and helpful. The waiter suggested some good dishes to share and enjoy. The doctor was funky and electric. The bathroom decor was so dark and sensual. Could definitely use more light. Loved their drinks and would come back for sure.
On our last visit in November 2023, the restaurant made a mistake by only giving us food for 2 people when we had a party of 4. We had 2 gift cards to their Chef Experience for two (meaning 4 people), but our server overlooked that we had 2 experiences for two. Throughout the meal, I brought up that it appears the food is only for 2 people, to which they said the portions are correct and advised us to order more. Basically trying to upsell us on an already expensive dinner, which made it very uncomfortable and really ruined the night. We were brought sushi that only had 2 of each type and shared by biting each piece in half. What a joke! The mistake was finally understood when the meal was over and the bill was being settled. We were offered a refund for the unused card or to return as a party of 4 to have the experience made right. The manager said he would take care of us. We opted to return at a later date. I refrained from going into detail about the incident in the previous review because I thought itd be fair to give them the chance to correct the error. Today I called back to book our return, and was thoroughly disappointed and frustrated. They took minimal ownership of the initial poor experience, stating that we can return and use the remaining experience for 2, but will have to order more food. So basically, they made a mistake that ruined the meal we already paid for, but are inviting us back for the same bad experience? The manager I talked to offered a round of drinks as compromise, and stated that that is the best the GM can offer because its too expensive to give us another experience for 2. I agree its expensive. And your restaurant messed up on an expensive experience and said you would make it right. The other option was for only one pair to return. This was a birthday gift from a cousin for the 2 couples to enjoy together. Why would only one pair return? I dont think any reasonable person would think an invitation to return as the full party and for the experience to be corrected would mean to come back for the exact same thing. From their website - Discover our bespoke Chef Experience, designed to surprise and delight. Meet our Chef, and explore some of the most premium dishes that Chotto has to offer. Tailoring to your preferences and requirements, our Chef will curate your menu for a unique experience. This is also a lie. We met no chef and nothing was tailored to our preferences as we were never asked of any preferences. The general managers inability to correct this wrong properly shows their lack of customer focus, lack of business sense, and how short-sighted they are. We did not ask for a full chef experience to be comped, but enough extra food to feed the party. Like a sushi platter or a couple of extra entrees. They would rather give a full refund than take a small loss to salvage future customers. Now we will not go there again and we will not recommend any friends and family to go.
Super convenient location for the financial district resulting in me coming far more often than I like. The food is reasonable but in no way reflective of the price point.
The food is very fresh, tasty and flavorfull. The dishes are unique yet sumptuous. I am pleasantly surprised with the knowledge of the server about the dishes, ingredients and drinks. The recommendations really helped to choose the right dishes and drink. The service is next level and personalized. While we chose tasting menu, the speed of service was aligned to the speed at which we were eating. Another unique aspect I observed was that the food temperature was very good, dishes remained warm even longer. Looks like some was continously adjusting the temperature of the next dish according to how much is already left at the table. Cant wait to reserve another dinner slot.
Andres, andrea and taryn were so lovely! Amazing food - will be back
Everything is amazing. We shared a bunch of dishes and all of them were delicious Amazing service Food
I love this place. Found it as an outdoor brunch spot during COVID and have been going back since.
Really appreciate the wide array of vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. I particularly enjoyed the vegan crispy sushi and vegan oyster mushroom tostada. I loved the sauce in the lychee ceviche. The roasted eggplant was a bit too light flavour wise. Overall, I don t think you can go wrong with your order though. Portion wise, our server advised us to share the dishes but I found myself not quite satisfied after the meal so maybe order generously according to your appetite. Service is friendly and cocktails are great! For some reason the bathroom feels more like a nightclub with hyper bright lights flashing in your face at the sink and darkness otherwise - the only strange part of this dining experience.
Wonderful service and atmosphere. Maybe I have an immature pallet, but some of the ingredients were very strong and off-putting. However, it was beautiful and Im sure with a more acquired taste, I would have given a 5 star for food. Vegetarian options: Vegitarian bento box was my lunch. It was interesting but not very filling, which is ok for lunch, but not really for the price. I went there for a business lunch so the price wasnt a concern during my lunch.
Food was great. We loved the black cod and the lamp chops Service was ok but it took long time for the food to arrive to the table. Food : 5/5
It is definitely pricey, but it was worth it. Restaurant has a unique interior, great atmosphere and modern music. Waitresses was very attentive. My favorite is Black Cod- absolutely must have, it was sweet and sour and mouthwatering! Would definitely try again. Ceviche is also fantastic, and crème brute was a cherry on top!
What better way to celebrate our friend s wedding AP than a meal at Chotto Matte, a Japanese Peruvian fusion restaurant in Toronto! Our party of 8 reserved a table which required a credit card on file as their policy is a $50 charge for any no show/pp . So make sure your friends show up! Upon arrival we were promptly seated by the hostess and our server Grace was quick to greet us with water and took our drink orders. You can t go wrong with an amaretto sour! We opted to do the a là carte menu versus the tasting menu. Food arrived quickly one dish after another, and oh my, let me say, the food tasted exceptional! Everything was full of flavour, beautifully presented, and to temperature! My favourite dish was the chotto ceviche fresh sea bass sashimi. I recommend coming here with a big party to try all the different dishes and flavours. For my first visit, I can definitely say I m impressed by the level of service and food quality and would come back again for date night and try the other vast variety of dishes to choose from. Although the menu is quite pricey with dishes starting at $20+, you can take advantage of any tasting menus or lunch specials, even chotto (happy) hour on weekdays. Overall, a great dining experience!
Love the lamb chop i can totally have 10 in one visit
Chotto Matte has really unique dishes with exceptional flavors! The interior design of the place is really nice.
Came here for a work lunch and it was alright in my opinion. Everyone ordered a bento box and the general consensus was that it was not filling enough. Ordered the Chotto Bento Box with the Amazonian BBQ Salmon - enjoyed the salmon, sea bass Nikkei Sashimi , and miso soup. The maki and nigiri were okay, and I was personally not a fan of the fried rice (arroz chaufa). The Salted Caramel Chocolate Fondant (lava cake with vanilla ice cream) made me say chotto matte.. it was beautifully plated and delicious (though the carmel design low key looks like an exorcism circle LOL). Ordered mint tea which was good and came with its own individual teapot and teacup. Dietary restrictions: They happy accommodated a dietary restriction for no raw fish (chotto bento box, where anything raw was substituted for the vegetarian box counterpart).
Not a cheap night out but totally worth it. Stylish from the door to washrooms, cool decor, chic service and food you want to keep trying and trying, some cocktails are unique, exquisite presentation, wow to everything Took us some time to select wine, there wasnt one of our taste for a reasonable price but as I said - not a cheap place.
Aesthetically, the food looks really nice. The trade off is that the food tastes awful.
My partner and I came here for our anniversary and it was such an amazing experience! Their drinks and food are amazing, the restaurant itself is super cool, and the staff are so nice:) They made us feel very welcome and even gifted us an anniversary dessert!
Good quality but way too expensive!
George is hands down the best server I have ever had. such a great conversationalist and makes you feel like the money was actually worth it. Would come back just to have him as my server again. 10/10!
Cool atmosphere, nice and friendly staff. Food looked good but the ceviche was far from the best I ve tried, would go for something else on the menu since there are plenty of options that looked really good. Dietary restrictions: Gluten & dairy free
We had a gift card to burn so we went with the Nikkei Deluxe and Nikei III menu. Everything was so good, especially the yellow tail sashimi and the rolls. The wagyu beef and lamb chops were also really tender and juicy. We were glad the ambience is a mix of fancy dine-in and casual bar-type so we could be comfortable as we like. Our server, Jennifer, was amazing - always checking up on us, giving recommendations and details on ingredients, being super nice.
Simply Amazing!
Pervuian-Japanese fusion food has to be one of my favourites, however everything we had here was really underwhelming. Ordered the ceviche, cod, lamb chops, and mashed yams. The ceviche was good but we ve had better, the cod did not live up to the hype (from the reviews nor from our waitress), the lamb chops disappointed us the most since they were 90% fat, and the mashed yams is not a dish you d serve in a fine dining restaurant. One of the servers (I m assuming the manager) offered us complimentary shishto pepper since it was our first time here which we appreciated but wouldn t order. Our waitress also offered us complimentary dessert since we were there to celebrate a birthday which was truly appreciated. Overall, the service was top notch, if only the food could match that level though.
As plant-based eaters, we seek out a variety of dining spots in Toronto. At Chotto Matte, the chef is outstanding, offering a wide range of delicious plant-based options. Afreen, Sarah, and Sophia made our visit unforgettable. We will definitely return to this amazing restaurant.
Beautiful spot for a date night. Staff very helpful and friendly. They have creative cocktails. Fun dishes to try, lots of variety and everything was delicious. Must go.
Top fusion Peruvian cuisine!!! Fantastic atmosphere, the plates and drinks are high quality and delicious. Best of all is the sushi... Probably the freshest Ive tasted in the city.
Thanks Courtney for making everything so smooth, we were 13 women there for the Niwa Brunch the moment we got there we were greeted with such politeness by the host, I have a nut allergy and our server made sure I did not get anything with nuts I don t remember his name sadly But over all a great experience and we can t wait to come back!
Unreal XP. Can t miss. 10/10
A bit overpriced for portions..however food was delicious and service was on point. Our waiter was professional and very attentive.
The vibe of this restaurant is just so pleasing. Our server was beyond attentive, well versed in the menu and just a delightful energy to have around. This was my second visit and the food excelled as usual. Gastronomic heaven.
Fusion Japanese and South American. Quite frankly the best of both worlds. Ceviche, miso cod, purpose, brocollini, and mango creme Brule. All delicious. Sizes for sharing. Walking out fed but not stuffed and with a huge smile. Thank you Ayla for being our food guide today.
I wish I could give Chotto Matte a 4.5 but thats not possible in Google Reviews. I wanted to give this place a 5, I really did. The atmosphere was excellent. Service, superb. The food, beautifully seasoned and presented. If I hadnt visited a similarly themed restaurant in Vegas called Sushi Samba, I would have given Chotto Matte an automatic 5-star rating. As tasty as the dishes were, they would need to be more inventive and more delicately seasoned to be a 5-star restaurant. We had a great time at the restaurant. The food was thoroughly enjoyable. We ordered one of their set menus and the pairing was excellent. The tuna sashimi was fresh and tasted wonderful in a miso glaze. The ceviche was very unique and absolutely delicious. The torched yellowtail roll came with an asparagus inside and it was a refreshing combination. Neither the rolls or sashimi dishes were served with wasabi or soy sauce, yet we didnt miss either throughout the meal - that should tell you something about the taste of these dishes. This is definitely a place to visit for special occasions like first date, business dinner, birthday, etc.
Great food and comfortable seating. Enjoy the decor. Service a bit slow when gets busy. Would come again probably a weekday
Awesome place for a special celebration. Great staff and amazing food. Must try.
Great restaurant. Food was delicious, service was amazing and the dj was awesome. Definitely coming back
Absolutely adore Chotto Matte! I ve been there several times and the food and service are unmatched
Had an amazing experience here last night. The patio was really nice even though the music was a bit too loud for my liking. Loved that they had lots of veggie options with something for everyone. The watermelon sushi was amazing, Id absolutely go back for this!
Portions are very small. I ordered the Tentáculos De Pulpo and the Asado De Tira for dinner, and the Passion Fruit Crème Brûlée for dessert. My personal highlight was the Tentáculos De Pulpo, and if I was reviewing this restaurant on that meal alone, I would give this place 5 stars. The Asado De Tira was slightly underwhelming. Service was fairly average. Passion Fruit Crème Brûlée was good.
Amazing place,great food
FOOD: Chotto Ceviche: very summery, strong wasabi flavor or something similar. The leche de tigre sauce was amazing. Salt & Pepper Squid: standard deep fried squid, they added green onion and cilantro makes it feels more asian. Salmon Tostada: this one was just ok, didnt like the shell but the salmon salad was decent. Tiger Roll: Thiss the best one in menu, very simple one but the flavor is 10/10. Wood Fired Brussel Sprout: they made it very fancy but it taste so bad. It tastes burnt and raw at the same time. Pollo Picante: its a good one but a little too spicy for me. Truffle Asado De Tira: questionable presentation with the purple potato puree, its flavor destroyed the whole dish and it doesnt look good at all. Japanese Souffle Pancake: good but too dense to be a Japanese version of souffle pancake. Warm Cinnamon Churros: not warm and no cinnamon flavor, quite chewy. DRINKS: Kakigori: mostly raspberry and very little lychee, a good refreshing drink. La Chakana: they made it look very cool by smoking it with a stone on top at your table, not a big fan of the flavor. SERVICE: my waitress disappeared near the end of the meal. VIBE: they decorated it very nice during valentines, lots of space with open kitchen.
We got to try a variety of options and we were all pretty satisfied with both the food and the service. They have a separate halal menu for those who want to avoid alcohol in the sauces that they use so that was definitely a plus. The servers were extremely attentive and made sure that we received everything quickly- despite how busy the restaurant was! The only downside was that the music was too loud and it made it very hard to hear the people at your table but other than that they are amazing.
Beautiful restaurant. Perfect service. Food needs more wow factor to match. Management go over your tasting menu again. It was hit, miss and meh Had the number 3 and deluxe. Maybe I m jaded from other places.
Very nice vibes and nice staff.
Five stars for food The kitchen and bar service is REALLY SLOW It took is 4 hours to get in and out They have high quality food and drinks so the wait is worthwhile, but annoying The waiter we had, tall English guy needs to pick up the service level and pace - we spent $1000 and felt like A&W service. I am not sure I ll go back anytime soon Food serving sizes were too small, had to get slices of pizza right after Highlight was the Crème Brûlée
Rating: 4.5/5 Came here for lunch with a couple other people. We got a gamut of rolls (Dragon, Tiger, and Soft Shell Crab) and apps/small plates (Shishito Pepper, Edamame, Salt & Pepper Crispy Squid, Chotto Ceviche, and Sushi Donut) to share. Every thing was very good and fresh. The plating was superb. I have to recommend the Chotto Ceviche, the Shishito Peppers, and the Sushi Donut. My only nit-pick (and the reason for the 4.5/5 overall) was that the soft shell crab roll wasnt at all what I expected. Given its price, I probably wouldnt have chosen it knowing what I know now. It wasnt bad per se, just...different...? The Hendricks & tonic I got was actually quite delicious (although I felt was a bit light on the Hendricks). I wouldve ordered another one if I wasnt scheduled to give a talk after lunch :D Decor was beautiful and an excellent choice in playlist. Our server was excellent and attentive. Vegetarian options: Plenty of Vegetarian and Vegan options. Dietary restrictions: Plenty of Gluten-free options.
Conveniently located in Downtown Toronto Lovely staff which were so polite We really enjoyed our experience Thanks Food : 5/5 |
If you want to eat well and taste good food, this is not your place, if you just want to take the selfie for Instagram, then this is your place. Went there and you may expect small food portions in a fancy and pricey restaurant like this but here, sizes are really small, be prepared to leave the place hungry. I had the Asado de Tira, bad choice very far from the tasty and great Argentinian plate. Poor service, and what is the so called family sharing service??? A cheap excuse for delayed plates . Next time I will choose a better place.
I purchased the birthday experience for my boyfriend and I. It was $400 plus a service charge and tip. I expected better food and service for the price. We were served a 9-course meal and only three of the courses seemed worth the price. The lamb chops, sushi, and black cod were very tasty, everything else was fairly disappointing. The portions were small but we expected that upon arrival. We arrived on time for our reservation at 10:00 and didn t receive our first course until 10:30. The restaurant itself had a very nice interior with a great ambiance and DJ. Our waiter was also very knowledgeable when it came to the menu. Also, the dessert platter isn t much of a platter , it s just a singular dessert item for each individual. Overall the food wasn t bad- we just expected a more unique experience.
Chotto Matte offers a unique dining experience that seamlessly blends Peruvian and Japanese flavors in a vibrant, hip setting. The decor is a visual feast, combining modern elements with traditional Japanese and Peruvian motifs, creating an atmosphere thats both stylish and inviting. As for the food, the fusion of Peruvian and Japanese cuisines is a revelation. Each dish is a harmonious blend of flavors and textures, showcasing the creativity and skill of the chefs. From the flavorful ceviche to the expertly crafted sushi rolls with a Peruvian twist, every bite is a delight for the senses.
The restaurant is good for events like New Years Eve. I went to celebrate New Year s Eve with my family and it was amazing. The staff is amazing and professional. Strongly recommend this place.
Foods great, drinks are even better. Randall is a rockstar server. Cheers Food : 5/5
Phenomenal food, cocktails, and service from Josh. Always a great experience and ambience. Food
Fantastic restaurant, great atmosphere. Greatly executed Nikkei and Chifa cuisine. Andrés was very kind and knowledgeable.
I m so impressed! Speacial thank to Mr. SAM!
Cool place! Prices are high, but the quality is amazing. Had a great time with colleges here. Ordered several small plates to share. Was very impressed with how fresh the fish was Its worth the experience overall for a nice dinner experience.
I was debating writing anything because the food truly is delicious. Consistently. But after the last time me and my partner went, I can confidently say we are never returning. I ordered a glass of dry white wine. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry, I am not opposed to an upsell, so I understood when she brought us a large as we hadn t specified. What shocked me was when we got the bill and saw that she had brought us the most expensive glass on the menu - $53. For one glass. Not once did she check with us to confirm that this was okay. Now I recognise that this is an expensive, high quality dining experience to begin with but this glass of wine was the most expensive item on our bill and my partner ordered steak. I ve included a picture of the drinks receipt and some of our meal.
Great decor and ambience, great service, delicious top quality food. Worth every penny. Definitely my new favourite place. Vegetarian options: They have a nice selection of vegetarian offerings.
Food was nothing special. The ingredients used in making the dishes was average quality.
Worth a visit
Everything exceeded expectations. From the anniversary card waiting at our table, to our incredible server Megan, and the bar even willing to make us a custom cocktail we had had in Peru. Incredible - all around!
Went in for lunch with 2 toddlers & although they were a little loud, the staff were accommodating & patient. Their menu offers a wide variety of sushi, bento boxes, set meals, and their cocktail menu is refreshing & compliments the dishes. Alex the manager was exceptional in both welcoming us & ensuring we had everything we needed with the two toddlers! Interior is also picture worthy, colourful, & sharp. Date night or a meeting spot, it is a highly recommend!! They also have cooked dishes as well for those who don t eat raw fish. Excited to go again without the kids on their patio once it opens!
