Fresh Japanese Cuisine and various premium sake and soju
My boyfriend lives in the area, and I’m always around too, so we often pass by this restaurant and wonder why it’s so empty. Today, we decided to try it since we were craving sushi. They sat us in a covered booth, which we loved because we’re introverts and appreciate our privacy, especially while eating. We ordered the Maki Dinner D and Takoyaki. The Maki Dinner came with a small side salad and miso soup—the salad dressing was amazing, and the miso soup was hot and comforting. When our sushi arrived, it was incredible; it melted in our mouths and tasted fantastic. I’m not sure why this place is empty, maybe because of the location, but you should definitely give it a chance. Its truly a hidden gem.
Everyone was so friendly and the service was very fast. Presentation was beautiful which I appreciate as we were celebrating something. Will be coming back to try more things. They had cute little dishes that came out before what we ordered came out (soup salad and a noodle thing) Pork katsu was amazing, so nice and crispy. You can taste the sushi was fresh and made with care. Sashimi was soo soft melt in the mouth
Fantastic hidden-gem of a sushi restaurant. The sushi is high quality and the prices are reasonable. They also include a miso-noodle dish with tempura bits as an additional appetizer. A must try for sure
Third time here , definitely a cozy place to have dinner with friends and wonderful conversations. I love their presentation of their dishes. Fair priced . And there is a cash discount . Sushi chef was friendly and server was so helpful and friendly . There are three homemade teas I tired to both were good . I would definitely come back .
My Mom and I stop by this sweet gem on our way home from Toronto to Niagara. We ALWAYS have to stop by after discovering this hidden beauty. The fish is amazing and so buttery, the presentation is gorgeous and we absolutely love the staff. Thank you for the complimentary shrimp tempura and ice cream, we’ll see you guys soon!
This chef wanted to go on break so she burnt my chicken and it was also raw and gooey/pink inside in different places. It was gross and I was disgusted. I noted this to the waitress and even when she went to the chef (they were sitting directly across from me munching away with no care given) she continued eating and enjoying her food. No one cared or even said sorry. The fact that she/no one even came to address this issue is enough for me to tell all my friends and family to never come here. I was liking this place and becoming a regular, but after this terrible experience I will never come back here. That chef is appalling. I'm posting now after some more considerations on this review and i think it is deserving.
Salmon was a bit rubbery and spicy salmon was dry. Volcano roll was good though. Overall, pretty decent sushi and decently priced. Better places around but not the worst.
Nestled in the alleyway of the plaza located at Bayview and Cummer, this unassuming place has charm, ambience, service and food that brings me back to Japan. We took a booth and ordered udon noodles, sushi bento, salmon bento, monster roll, Bulgogi dinner. The tempura batter was crispy and didn’t feel overly battered like other restaurants. The bone broth starter was absolutely delicious and the miso soup and salad was not salty yet flavourful. Everything we ate tasted fresh and food portions were not considered small. I was feeling quite full be the time we finished our meal. The service was pleasant and always greeted us with a smile. The washrooms were clean and tidy. If I am in this neighbourhood again and craving sushi, I will definitely return here! Try it out!
Chiken Mayo Don was really good.
One caterer, one waitress, slow service
Food is probably delicious, didnt have a chance to try. Waiting twenty minutes to get a menu? it is too much.
nice place and the food is ok. good service
I ordered two bowls of hoe-deopbap and chicken karaage during dinner time, but after 40 minutes, the food still hadnt arrived. After requesting it again, I finally received the chicken karaage, but the portion was noticeably smaller. The hoe-deopbap had hardly any vegetables, and the rice was the size of a baseball. The waitress didnt even bring spoon, nor did she serve the miso soup. They didnt seem to feel sorry at all for the poor service, and they acted as if the long-waiting customers were a bother. I spent here $69 for two but still hungry. I definitely dont want to come back.
Transported me back to Asia the minute I stepped in. Food Vibe Service Food : 5/5 |
The best sashimi I have ever seen. This crane is beautiful
This is a regular hang out for me and my friends and it is phenomenal! The food is amazing and the service is excellent. Our regular server is Jeah and she provides the best service. With her kind words and heartfelt attitude, she brings us back every time :)
I love coming here with my friends to take a break every once in a while! The place is very well decorated and their food is greatly priced with generous portions. Jeah is such a sweet server!
Food was amazing, ambiance was cozy, and Jeah was the sweetest server anyone could ask for :)) will definitely visit again!!
Wonderful service and excellent food! They really succeeded in creating a charming dining experience.
parmida and samaneh and pouya for the perfect service, the food was fantastic
Their food is ok so we come here sometimes since it s close to home. But they have these tiny enclosed 2 people booths that they make you go in, even when they have many empty 4 people tables. When we ask to sit at a bigger empty table, they just tell you that s for 4. So if you are a party of 2 or less, don t visit unless you like tiny squeezed space when you eat.
They are kind i have became a daily customer and they treat me with respect they also never fail to make me happy at the end of the day and meal 4.9/5
Cool
Great food in an inviting, cozy atmosphere. Reasonably priced too.
Nestled in an unassuming plaza alongside an Independent supermarket and dry cleaners, this tiny gem of a sushi restaurant, Kaikaki, offers an unforgettable dining experience. The adorable wooden booths provide a sense of privacy, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the authentic Japanese atmosphere. The sashimi is absolutely unreal, boasting freshness that melts in your mouth, and the rolls are a delightful burst of flavor. The friendly staff goes above and beyond, ensuring that every visit feels special and personalized. If youre a sushi lover, Kaikaki is a must-visit!
Their sashimi and chirashi don are always fresh and they don t cheap out on their sashimi cuts. Always consistent, always fresh and always generous. :) Thank you kaikaki!
Delicious, fresh and tasty food experience! Visually charming atmosphere, and good, friendly service. We had the Bento (box) dinners, one was chicken, I had the spicy Bulgogi, both were delicious. As well, we ordered a plate of Canadian Dream Sushi Rolls (we needed more wasabi!). They also have a very wide menu. This was a very pleasant surprise to find. It is worth visiting - Hungry!!!
Yummy and fast service. Would recommend to lovers of Japanese cuisine
One server only but she was excellent! Food was delicious and decent value and I especially loved the atmosphere and booth seating.
Was fine. Nothing special. Portions could be bigger for the price.
Popular Japanese restaurant inside an old strip mall. Some evenings are quite popular. We came here for a late lunch, and we were seated right away.
Have visited several times with different family members and everyone enjoyed the dining experience. Food is great service could be a little friendlier. Taken care of as soon as we walked in the door. Will definitely revisit.
The place was so cute and cozy! Waitress was really nice! The food, omg, not only was it extremely delicious, but it was plated so beautifully! I dont ever take photos of food, but this I had to! The Tako Yaki was to die for, recommend! And if you like crab and eel, try the Legend Dragon!
Just a huge disappointment. If they actually cared at rectifying the missing item because of an allergy I would have given 5 stars. It s really too bad because I did like this place. Not recommending again. And the crab salad is supposed to come with mayo, it s dry and tasteless. So disappointing.
Good
Cant have enough of these delicious sushi platters and tempura. Also try their Sake, its expensive but show support, rather than going to LCBO for cheaper options. Food
Me and my family loved our japanese food experience. Everythings here at Kaikaki is superb, the ambience, the staff and especially the food. This is my first time to give five stars. We will definitely be back here. Kudos to all the staff and rhe owner.
I had a light lunch. The food was good and the atmosphere and service were all good.
We were fairly disappointed by the quality of the food. We booked this place because of the high ratings. The sushi rice had no taste...the party tray is heavy with makis and the waitress kept spilling things beside our table including hot udon broth...
Went to the restaurant for a quick dinner on the weekend as it was close to the community centre. The sushi (set with red dragon roll) was as expected, but I really enjoyed the miso soup and tea. The restaurant was very well decorated with various elements of Japanese culture to bring you that authentic feel. The enclosed booths are private if you want them to be, and the screen reveals Totoro!
It was worst sushi ever!!
Love this restaurant very much. They have good sushi, rolls, maki. Definitely show the passion for japanese food and love all the details basic from rice to presentation. My all time favorite. Their sushi rice is the authentic way .
Delicious and friendly
Very cozy Japanese restaurant with delicious fresh food
Good selection, fresh great service
A nice place quiet
The best we have tried!!!
Food is OK. The place is small and cozy. it is a bit cold during this season. Everytime the door is opened, the cold wind just blows straight in. We had to wear jacket while eating.
I have been a customer of this restaurant for a year and have introduced this sushi place to more than 7 people. Today me and a fiend if mine had a chicken Teriyaki Bento which was smelly and not fresh, I kindly asked if they can change it but their response was like no it doesnt smell and you gotta eat. Then I said Im not going to eat this so the server took the plate. So we ordered something else However on the bill they charged us for the Bento that have been returned. It was disappointing for me, the owner/ sushi maker came to our table with this high attitude and start yelling at us that if your not a chef you can not tell what is fresh and what is not. Their behaviour It was surprising for me. The owner at the end asked us to leave and never come back again, since he has his customers already
A lovely restaurant with amazing food and great service! I highly recommend!
The salmon is not fresh! We got sick an hour after eating here! Immediately we noticed the taste and smell was off but we ate some anyway, trusting the restaurant. Eventually, I had to send back my food because it was inedible, they offered a new plate and the difference in quality was vast. The first plate really was spoiled. They said they get fresh fish everyday but I highly doubt that s true, I ve worked in multiple sushi restaurants and they get fish once or twice a week. If it is true, then they completely mishandled their raw fish, making it rot in hours. It s probably safer to get udon or bento here, something fully cooked. $65 for food poisoning isn t a good deal! I wish they gave us a discount at least for the food poisoning
We order sashimi they were frozen! Extremely cold tea! Very bad service in general ,we had to literally call the waitress 5-6 times to come for everything every time ! She didn t come at all to check on us if we needed anything or no! We decide not to leave much tip,so at the end she didn t even say thank you or goodbye! Owner need to work on ppl who he/she is hiring !!! We will not visit this place again for sure!
It was a pleasant meal
One classically furnished restaurant serving some excellent sushi, maki & fresh nigiri. Great food & great service. The prices are a bit higher than some of the other sushi places but the quality is definitely higher too.
Pretty good little sushi restaurant. I really like the decor inside with the secluded booth seats. Its a small restaurant and they only have 1 front door (i.e. not two front doors with a little foyer in between) so every time someone opened the door it got really cold, and the restaurant was generally cold inside already. In terms of food, it was pretty good. The portions were actually really big, which was good bc the prices are kind of steep. I liked the little bowl of noodle soup they give you in the beginning for free. I got the bulgogi dinner bento, but was a bit disappointed with the bulgolgi. The meat was tender but it was not saucy at all, and the meat chunks were so thick. I personally prefer thinner meat slices. I do recommend the Kaikaki roll. Its massive and has so many delicious components to it
One of the best restaurants
Loved the sushi here. Try the King Dynamite Roll! Also very fresh Avocado Salad. Parking: Lots of free parking.
Korean run Japanese restaurant, absolutely mind blowing atmosphere, interior and settings to its finest. Extensive selection of sake, pairing with flesh sashimi. Amazing place if you are planning for a lovely evening with close ones. Can t go wrong here ;)
My first time dinner there was great. Second time is even better. The Chef is awesome in making delicious food. Restaurant is clean and atmosphere is pleasant. I will continue to come here with my wife. I tip my hat(if I was wearing one ) to the Chef. Well done
The food is tasty and the service is good too!
First time visit for lunch. Extensive lunch menu choices. Beautiful presentation. Food was fresh and plentiful. Cant wait to return perhaps next time for dinner.
Everything we tried was very tasty, service quick and kind. Atmosphere quite and cozy
Pros: - Sashimi and Maki boat was fresh and tasty - Crunch Noodle Soup was delicioso - Most of the dishes were yummy and of good quality - Service was quick and the 2 ladies serving us were nice and courteous - Easy to find parking spot Cons: - Snow Dragon Sushi was a bit tasteless - Prices were a bit steep compared to other places. It would be nice if they offer some complimentary desserts in the near future. Overall I recommend Kaikaki if youre craving for fresh Sushi and Sashimi meals Parking: Lots of parking spaces
A small sushi restaurant with nice decor. Sashimi was fresh but the sushi rice is too moist and sticky.
Got the boat and requested to swap 12 of the 24 sushi for ebi which was an extra $12 charge (the highest charge up I ever experienced in comparison to other sushi restaurants when I requested the same thing).
My new favorite restaurant! Highly recommended!
Its the frst time visit here! Food is nice and delicious! One of the dish I ordered a steak don that come with rice but the rice is too little. Will go again in near future to try other dishes.
Fantastic food and cozy warm space to enjoy it. Will be back again for sure.
A disappointment when I found out this place is under new management. Food selection has increased compared to the Korean restaurant before . But quality is not that good. For a Sushi place the fish quality has to be better. I was also not impressed by the Teriyaki beef dinner . Overcooked and the beef quality also not up to standards. This place was a disappointment for me.
Excellent food and excellent service. Everything was fresh and tasty
Visited for late lunch with my Mum. Green tea is amazing. We started with spring rolls which were fresh and crispy. Our mains came with delicious miso soup and salad. My mum had bbq pork and I had ton katsu (fried pork cutlet) and both came with rice. The portions were huge, we had to take home about half! There is a huge menu and options for vegetarians. More to explore next time. Lunch specials available. Tons of beer and saki selections too. The server was efficient, kind, and lovely, refilling tea, and food arrived in good time. The ambience is pleasant, with private wood booths and some tables in the middle which would make it accessible. Located in the corner of a strip mall, this gem has tons of parking. I know take out is available since we heard about this from a neighbor. Will be back! Vegetarian options: Large menu Parking: Strip plaza at Bayview and Cummer Kid-friendliness: Kids would probably love the booths Wheelchair accessibility: It would be tight to move around but possible
Decent food, pretty old interior, stuff could be more aware of customer needs Recommend for takeout Food
the rice for sushi was not sticky, it was very dry
I liked their Lunch Special: Spicy Bulgoggi Bento.
July/2033 Went for a late dinner tonight with my daughter, her favourite is sushi. Ordered the small sushi, maki and sashimi boat plus their special Monster Roll - one of the main ingredient is soft shell crab. Sashimi was great so fresh and fabulous thickness, just love it. Everything was so fresh and tasty sushi and the maki( not dressed with too much sauce so you can taste the flavours of the ingredients. Service this evening was not up to par for some reason. Had to look for the server a long time to get some water. No hot tea, I hope they get their tea kettle sorted out soon! Still would recommend you try them. Apr/2023 We have been to Kaikaki for over 5 years. What impressed me initially was their special rolls - lots of ingredients, thin on the rice and delicious! We ve had dinner in the restaurant and taken out, both up to par. The different boats are very tasty, tempura is nice and light. Special maki rolls excellent. Service while eating in their dining room was attentive. For takeaway we usually do the sushi, sashimi and maki platters. Very satisfying and fresh. If I had to give one suggestion it would be to prepare the maki rolls like before- more ingredients and less rice. Vegetarian options: Good selections.
Pork Katsu was so thin and cold. It was the worst katsu I have ever tasted in my life paid off more than $20.
Exceptional sushi, go to for this neighborhood.
Soups are ok. Food in general is ok. Restaurant was very busy but there were only one server for all restaurant. They need at least two servers. We will not come back until they start caring about their employees. It took about 30 minutes to get our check after asking, but it was not the servers fault. She was swamp with tables and orders. She was even taking care of take out orders also.
Easily one of the best sushi spots. A hidden gem!
We visited this restaurant two times, their food was great. Today, we had a takeout, the quality of food was worse . Also, the restaurant had a very heavy unpleasant smell when we came in for our pickup. They let me down as I had been telling my friend how great the food was and both of us got really disappointed.
Great service, good atmosphere. Pork katsu portion was generous, and the staff continued to refill our tea throughout the evening without being asked.
Fresh and tasty sushi. Great value for the money and great service. Highly recommended. We will keep coming. Food
Friendly staff, yummy food!
I love this restaurant. It s my favourite place to go for sushi and I love the atmosphere. There are private booths and they serve a complimentary crunchy noodle soup that is delicious. Service is always bright, friendly, and prompt - everyone is always kind. The food is top quality and the ambiance is comfortable, cozy, and feels a little bit like you ve been transported somewhere magical.
This is my go-to for sushi. I have to have it weekly.
Was there few weeks ago and front door was open, Flies all over the place....
I had sushi sashimi lunch menu. The fish was not fresh and I felt sick the day of and next day I had upset stomach The restaurant needs to check on freshness quality.
Cute little restaurant hidden within a plaza. I came here for lunch and they had a decent lunch menu. Lots of choices on the regular menu as well. The lady helping me was so nice and friendly. Atmosphere is cute and decorated nice. They have cute booths as well as tables. I got the bulgogi and tempura lunch special and it was delicious. Had a good variety of meat, rice, tempura, soup and salad. Also came with a tasty starter. Would definitely come back to try other menu items
Extensive menu and kind servers! Food was tasty, although I just felt their bathrooms could have been cleaner.
I had the pleasure of dining at this charming establishment for two consecutive days while visiting North York. I was thrilled to find this hidden gem during my trip. The cuisine is truly exceptional, the ambiance is delightful, and the service is impeccable. Well, Yukas warm and welcoming smile is the sweetest in town!
Shockingly fresh, great service and warm ambiance. Clean food and can taste every ingredient. We absolutely loved or experience and our food (sushi and hot plates). Reminiscent of our trip to japan a few months ago for the cleanliness, manners and great food. Prices are very reasonable to boot! Highly recommend, hidden gem!
Very bad Japanese cuisine. Beef bulgogi texture is like chalk. Rice is hard.
hidden gem
My beef bento was quite cold but the tempura was alright.
Ordered the salmon dinner set and a maki dinner set both plated on a beautiful boat. Service and food were good. Need to work on hygiene - some plates weren t cleaned properly with oily food residue.
presentation was everything. huge selection, i have to go back soon
Delicious sushi and sashimi. Good selection of Japanese beers and saki.
Amazing hidden gem for sushi!!! We had the Maki sushi small boat and all the pieces were fresh, and they were all hits. Will definitely will be coming back. The donburi looks good!
We discovered this Japanese restaurant during the pandemic and so happy to have it at our front door. Friendly staff, clean restaurant, and excellent food. Sushi and other menu items are fresh and delicious.
We love this restaurant! The interior decoration is super cosy and very pretty for small or large groups. Our favourite dishes are the Kaikaki rolls - these are giant with a lot of fresh ingredients (unagi, crab, fried shrimp, torched salmon, avocado, cucumber etc), kaikaki combo - very classic sashimi and sushi combo, BBQ pork don - super tasty and marinated to the finest :) they also have a wide selection of beverages and soju! Follow me on Instagram @maggielicious.to for more food adventures!
10/10 I visited today to pick up an order of their party tray and had a pleasant experience. The place was fully equipped with hand sanitizers and even UV sterilizers. Along with great customer service, it was nice to see that the owners are trying their absolute best to keep the restaurant clean and sanitized during this difficult time. The quality of the sashimi was beyond what I had expected - so fresh and flavourful. I loved every bite of the salmon sushi and the rolls were just the perfect blend of flavours. Id definitely recommend this place to anyone. Hopefully Ill visit to dine in once the pandemic is over but until then, Ill for sure be ordering takeouts from here for my sushi cravings :)
Food and service are so so.
Amazing experience! Loved dining in. Ambiance and decor were on point. Loved the huts and lights. Food was also great. Fresh and good portions! Sushi came with intricate plating/designs which we loved. Loved the unlimited tea and the starter soup that came free. Will be back for sure :)
Place is nicely decorated, relaxed atmosphere, clean. Food quality and taste is not that great; there are so many Japanese restaurants, to compare with. I had the rolls and had to use sauce, to make them tasty. I prefer the authentic small rolls, that can be eaten in one bite, to the big that needs to be cut, so I was tasting individual items, rather than the combination. The waiter was very polite and friendly, but she was constantly on her cellphone . I had to wait for her to look at me, in order to get more tea or for a question. It was hard to get her attention, rather than her being attentive, to the pteons. They need to train her properly, on the protocol of serving. No dessert! Even a little pastry or icecream, would have been nice, to end the dinner
The food was very high quality. Our server was negligent and rude. I will only get take out in future.
As soon as I ate their food, I had to go to washroom. Their fish isnt fresh and looks like it just came out from the freezer
We loved this place, it was affordable and everything is fresh and worth it for the price. They had UV sterilizer stations and we were given a free miso soup, salad and small noodles! Would return for the price :)
Good sized portions but the rolls could have been wrapped tighter.
We just had the best Japanese food here. Loved it.
Food is decent, but not as I expected after looked at the menu. Tried for lunch, and its good portion.
Charming atmosphere and the food was delicious and beautifully presented.
My family has bought food from this restaurant for a while now and always spending over $150-200 sometimes even more. I was walking by the restaurant today July 22, 2022, it s 30 degrees outside, Environment Canada has issued a heat warning and I was very thirsty went and asked for a cup of water and I was told no and get out! Not only was this extremely rude to a loyal customer of years they broke human rights laws of Canada, having access to water and restroom for everyone in need. Horrible rude and disrespectful with no regard for people and decency. Never going back or allowing any of my family and friends to eat here again.
BEST BEST BEST SUSHI IN THE WORLD All staff are so friendly THIS RESTAURANT PRICE ALSO REASONABLE
Great place me and my friends frequent amazing staff and tasty food 10/10 would recommend
Hidden little sushi restaurant with a nicely designed dining area with private dining rooms. They offer a good variety of sake, Japanese beers and sojus. Sashimi was good and service was nice. Dishware were unique and cute. I did wish they could have turned on the AC as it was uncomfortable to eat in the heat and humidity. I was also disappointed when they didnt have uni or ikura. Overall Id return again for another visit.
Lovely restaurant. I dont often write reviews but had to make an exception for this place. Dine-in is definitely better than take out, do yourself a favour by sitting down and enjoying the atmosphere :)
Polite, quick service. Food was presented beautifully
Simply the best sushi place in Toronto.
This is our family go-to restaurant for Japanese food. Platters are fresh and wide variety of sashimi. Kid friendly service and very polite atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Ive been going to this place for years and have had good experiences with food and service all the time. The staff aim to please. We are very lucky to have this place in our neighbourhood as a regular go to. Its a hidden gem.
Very nice restaurant interior, well decorated and good lighting. Taste of food somewhat mediocre, menu should include more vegetarian options. Service okay but not very friendly.
Good food, great presentation, and even better environment. Im definitely coming here again. Good service to top it off.
Unsatisfying to say the least. Had high expectations based on reviews but this was the furthest thing from a 4.5 star sushi restaurant. I would give a 1 star but the sushi pizza was pretty good. Apart from that the miso soup was fishy and tasted funny. Sushi was below average Server didn t even provide a menu for the first 30 minutes. Wouldn t recommend and won t be coming back
Really cute sushi spot. Their booths are excellent for date night. Very tasty food too with generous portions. Tried the sushi, Maki and sashimi boat - quite yummy with thick pieces of sashimi. Service was very quick too
Delicious food, great service, and reasonable prices. Weve been eating from here on and off for the past 2 years, and everything weve tried has been great. Service is great, whether its dine in or takeout. Delivery packaging is on point, so nothing leaks or gets messed up. Would highly recommend for speacial meals or for more regular takeout.
The best sushi in North York! Service and food are both amazing. Highly recommend this restaurant!
The ingredients and taste are fresh and delicious.
literally the best sushi in the area. delicious!!! also pre-covid, dining inside was always a good experience. Very dainty and picturesque- loved bringing friends and family.
Ok food
My goto local sushi restaurant! Great pickup service and consistent quality
Yeah. This place is amazing also foods and staffs. I like this place .
Been coming here for 2 years now, food has always been fresh and great, customer service has been 100 every single time. The prices might be a tad bit more expensive than other sushi joints, but the quality of the food is unmatched. Kaikaki has been a lifesaver for Japanese food cravings during this pandemic and beyond! Bob
Always a pleasure going here. Since the pandemic started this has been my go-to sushi place. I recommend calling in your order.
(Amended) April 2021 - 4 Star Review: After seeing the response from the owner, I decided to give this place another try (I paid for the order, I didnt take advantage of a suffering industry - but thank you for offering to replace my order!). I was satisfied that they werent cutting costs and it was an honest mistake. Thank you - The food quality is amazing and you retained my business. (Original) November 2020 -1 Star Review: I always order the same sushi. They raised the price since before the COVID mandatory closure (which I can sympathize with) but they cut costs and did not put the red fish eggs on top, instead they substituted with sesame seeds. If you are going to cut down on your costs, dont raise the price! I came there to support you during a rough time and now you lost a reoccurring customer.
Awesome
Great sushi! Cant believe I havent tried it yet. Will definitely be my new regular sushi spot. Highly recommend.
Local favourite!
Awful. Orderd: Kaikaki roll,Eskimo, fire, black Dimond, pizza tuna, beef tataki. 1) no esthetic in sushi , look not appetizing at all. Triple layers of rice outside and a biiit inside :) They put soy sauce inside of sushi tray on top of $18 roll....was killing me by disgust ... 2) sushi pizza went to the garbage right away 3) beef, can chow till the next, next morning 2
New review: Upon returning, had a much better experience. The fish was very fresh, the chicken katsu and the udon noodles are delicious. Service was fast and friendly. Will return for sure! Previous review: Nice place. Staff is friendly and service is fast. Prices are decent. The decor is beautiful and really makes you feel welcome, even the chefs say hi! My only issue with this restaurant is that the fish isnt the freshest. The tuna tasted old and dissolved in the mouth. The Kaikaki special roll was amazing! A wonderful mix of fish, shrimp and veggies, very fresh. Will return for sure!
My go-to spot. Sushi is so fresh and good. Presentation of food is amazing - we were all wow d. Highly recommend the spicy salmon roll and veggie roll.
I had great dine in experience here after the long lockdown. We ordered a small sashimi/sushi/roll boat and karaage (fried chicken). With salad, miso soup and a bite size noodle soup came with the meal, these food fed three of us perfectly. The presentation of the sushi boat is surprisingly good - love the little radish swan and the tree decoration. We will definitely visit again. Btw, I hope they can get rid of those few tiny flies bugging around in the restaurant.
Great food with huge portions. Good value!
Got takeout tonight--I got ultimate veggie roll and partner got yaki udon with chicken. Both were yummy and our food was ready on time. Will probably order again!
Sushi and Maki tray looks amazing and fresh. Highly recommend it.
Pickup order, extremely delicious. Eating in my car right outside the plaza. Come back again!
This is one of my favourite sushi places in my neighbourhood. Their party trays are great for takeout. Ive recently had dinner in the restaurant and the food was great. The restaurant has individual booths which makes it a great setup for social distancing during the pandemic. I think it is also a cozy spot for a special date.
Absolutely disappointing. I dont really write review, but I was floored by what I got. I order 2 chirashi for my brother and I. It was $20 each. What I got was less than a cup of rice, maybe 3/4, it barely filled the bottom potion of the take out container. I think my brother counted 12 pieces of sashimi, and these were cut small and a small slice of avocado that was turning brown already. So imagine buying a poke bowl for $15, and have that portion cut in 1/2 or 1/3. Thats the potion size I got from this place!
Always good!
This is a nice small and cozy place. The staff are friendly and delicious food as well
Absolutely amazing hidden gem and hole in the wall of Toronto. Super super fresh and tasty food especially sashimi and shrimp roll. The staff is very friendly. Highly recommend. This spot obviously knows how to satisfy their customers. Constantly with a very nice attitude. Since I knew this place, I haven t tried other sushi restaurants.
So happy to live within walking distance of this place. Always delicious food. 5/5 experience everytime!
The sushi was very fresh and the service was great! I had the spicy salmon roll and white tuna roll, and they were both delicious. This is a cool hole in the wall sushi spot for anyone in and around the Bayview/Cummer area!
Amazing sushi and excellent service and atmosphere! Will be coming again
We ordered a takeout for the first time at Kaikaki and were a bit unlucky. The spring rolls were white, under-fried and smelled like oil. The avocado in the rolls was unripe, which is unpleasant for my taste. Philadelphia roll had a disproportionate amount of cucumber - I had never eaten a Philadelphia roll with cucumber. The salmon lovers dinner was good, but didn t compensate overall. For $80, I can t say I would recommend.
Tastes great. Although a bit overpriced
Good quality and services.
Great atmosphere and loved the cozy seating in the booths! Food was delicious I had bulgogi the spicy one - so good!
Very cozy family run restaurant. Came on a Friday night and was seated in a tiny booth. Service is friendly and meal came with free salad + noodle appetizer. Presentation of sushi is good, but food quality is nothing special.
Very good food and service. The booths provide great privacy.
Love this place!
I had lunch there today and will definitely eat there again. I like the place and the food. There are many wood cubicles ideal for 2-person intimate dining. In each cubicle, there are decorations of photos on the wall as well as 8 bottles of wine on a shelf. These bottles are lit up by tiny lights behind them.
Kaikaki is a nice Japanese and Korean restaurant. The sashimi was fresh and tasty although a bit cold for my taste. The sashimi lunch was nicely presented accompanied with miso soup, salad and a small bowl of noodles. The lunch prices are very reasonable.
Very nice Place , they have huge portions ! ! very good tasting food
Terrible experience. I thought the first time was just a one off. Second experience again food wasnt good and for a more expensive sushi restaurant they are extremely stingy on the wasabi. Will not be going back.
Ordered the pork katsu (for takeout of course) and it was both tasty and a generous portion.
Our go-to place nearby for sushi. Got take-out during this pandemic several times already. We love it! Dine in good too. Small and cozy. Good service and atmosphere.
Got a take out sushi and sashimi combo today. Not bad but they did not give any soy sauce with the order. Discovered too far away.
Fantastic place, sushi was flavourful, and the proportion to rice to fish was spot on. Great atmosphere, with kind servers. If you are looking for a good sushi restaurant this place doesnt disappoint.
Still great during covid
I would say that this spot is literally a hidden gem as the store is behind a wall, so the only way would be to park and actually look. I love how cute the interior is, and with the wooden booths to make your experience much more private and intimate. Their menu has a variety of sushi and sashimi dishes, and they have lunch specials that runs from 11:30a-3pm. The menu prices are reasonable so nothing is too overpriced. One thing I like is how their sushi and maki boats offer an option to make it all salmon (for an additional price) which is perfect if you re a salmon lover. We went with the small Sushi, Sashimi & Maki boat and loved how beautiful they plated everything. The boat also came with their Miso soup, salad and crunchy noodles. Everything was nice and fresh, and overall, we had an enjoyable time here. Definitely worth checking out! IG: Ayenomz
Consistently great sushi and lovely staff :)
Were regulars there, very happy with the owners and the food. They are generous with their servings and always fresh! Our favourite sushi place for a few years now (since theyve opened). Nothing else compares!
Got takeout..D15.Bulgogi. Second time I have ordered it. Was disappointed. Food was cold, very little flavour, no dressing on salad; if there was any sauce it was in the bottom of the carry-out bag. Worst part, one of the staff making the sushi for all to see was wearing a muscle shirt...his hairy armpits were exposed to the food he was creating. Not too hygienic.
I absolutely love this place. The food is amazing!!! I go here every chance I get. Never have anything bad to say about this place and will recommend to everyone. Hands down the best! Keep doing what your doing and stay safe.
Excellent sushi
