Contemporary Japanese restaurant with one of the largest sake programs in North America
Came here to celebrate my wife's birthday and it didn't disappoint. The food was tasty and innovative, the cocktails were excellent. The atmosphere was very quiet considering that it was a Saturday night, but we didn't mind. Our server was super friendly and made some great suggestions. I would definitely come back.
Had lunch here with friends and found the lunch menu reasonably priced, especially compared to dinner options. The portions were generous, though the overall taste was a bit average. The salmon poke bowl stood out as a highlight, and the beef bowl was decent as well. The setting and atmosphere were pleasant.
Ki Modern Japanese Restaurant used to be a reliable spot for a great meal, but my recent visit left much to be desired. The restaurant was surprisingly quiet, and while the food quality was decent, the service was far from it. There were several mistakes with our orders, and though they were eventually removed from the bill, the overall experience was marred by long waits to get the attention of the staff. One particularly frustrating moment was when we ordered coffee and had to wait 12 minutes for the cream and sugar to arrive, leaving us with cold coffee. The steak, which was requested medium rare, came out medium, and the jalapeño cuts on the sushi were so large and uneven that it was shocking coming from a place of this caliber. Overall, it was a disappointing experience that fell short of expectations.
Having visited Ki Modern Japanese in Toronto for the second time, I can confidently say this restaurant is a gem for raw fish enthusiasts. Their offerings are top-notch, showcasing the freshest and most flavorful sashimi and sushi. This visit, we were recommended the Wagyu burgers, and they did not disappoint. The burgers were cooked to perfection, juicy, and bursting with flavor. Another standout was the tempura tiger shrimp, served with a wasabi aioli and a generous squeeze of lemon. The combination was simply divine, and I'm grateful to our waitress for the recommendation. The staff at Ki Modern Japanese truly elevate the dining experience. Our waitress was proactive with her suggestions, showing genuine care and enthusiasm, which made our meal even more enjoyable. It's always a pleasure to dine where the staff are passionate about the food they serve❣️ The cocktails are another highlight, expertly crafted and delicious. The ambience at Ki caters to all preferences, whether you're dining solo at the sushi bar or with a larger group in a more intimate setting. Happy hour is a fantastic opportunity to sample a variety of dishes at a great value. Overall, I highly recommend Ki Modern Japanese for anyone looking to enjoy exceptional Japanese cuisine in Toronto. Their attention to detail, quality of food, and outstanding service make it a must-visit.
Great food and service. The tempura was crispy and fresh. Beef maki was delicious. If you like sake or whisky the flights were fun!
Food was ok, prices doesn’t really justify the taste, quality or quantity of food. I’ve been there 5 times already and it’s been the same for me each time. But my friends had been going there since the 90s so I’ll just tag along…
I came here for lunch and the service here was great. We even got hot towels before our meal which was a nice touch. The restaurant is in the heart of the Financial District and is an excellent spot for a business lunch. It's modern and sleek inside. Food here is a blend of traditional and modern influences. I ordered the Bara Chirashi Bowl served with a Sunomono Salad. We also shared a bunch of appetizers. I enjoyed the appetizers more than my main course. It's more on the pricier end here.
I went to Ki for dinner before a leafs game. The food was great, arrived in a timely manner, and with service that would rival most downtown restaurants. The staff was friendly and attentive, offered great suggestions, and ensured that we were able to make it to the game with ample time to spare. The atmosphere is open and welcoming while offering privacy and quiet in the booths. Definitely recommend as a great spot for a pre-game meal.
I cant believe I havent been there before. Amazing restaurant, incredible service and amazing food.
Food was excellent, service was a bit slow and the waiter seemed uninterested to be there.
Was very excited to try this restaurant for our date night so made a reservation only to be seated and wait 30 mins without any server approaching. The restaurant was 1/2 empty and multiple servers walked by and served other tables around us but never spoke to us. The food looked great at other tables, but we finally left without ever having been served. We stopped at the host desk to let them know we were leaving, but there was no one there and 3 staff walked right by us as we waited without speaking to us. The food looked excellent, but disappointed to have not been served.
This is the place for sushi. The food is absolutely delicious and prepared with perfection. The bar staff is very attentive and you never run out of anything. This is my go to for great Japanese cusine Best Japanese in Toronto
Oh, *Ki Modern Japanese + Bar* where do I even begin? If you ve ever wondered what it s like to dine at a place that takes the concept of fancy to such extreme levels, it feels less like a restaurant and more like you ve been transported into the *VIP lounge* of a sushi utopia. I mean, why settle for just a nice meal when you can have a *whole experience* one where the food practically arrives in a cloud of opulence and every bite feels like a ticket to the I m better than you club? Let s start with the ambiance, because *wow*. The moment I stepped into Ki, I immediately felt like I was walking into an art gallery that somehow only accepted people with impeccable taste and by that, I mean people who are willing to *pay a premium* for the privilege of dining in a space where the decor screams We spent a lot of money making you feel like you re above average, and you should feel good about it. From the sleek, modern furniture to the lighting that was *just right* (not too bright, not too dim, but just the right amount of Im going to make you feel chic even though youre slightly underdressed), I was completely transported into a world where *everything* just felt effortlessly exclusive. I half-expected a velvet rope to be draped around my table, and I would ve totally accepted it, because at Ki, you don t just *eat* you *experience*. Now, let s talk about the staff. Oh, the staff. If you ever wanted to feel like you re being personally catered to by a team of professionals who *know* how to make you feel both welcome and utterly insignificant at the same time, then you are in for a treat. My server, whose name I completely forgot because he was just *that* impeccable, made me feel like I was the most important person in the room. And not in a *normal* way no, no. He had this artful, almost poetic way of serving me that made me feel like he was carefully curating every aspect of my dining experience, like I was the subject of some kind of culinary performance. Here s your miso soup, he said with the grace of someone presenting a fine wine. I wanted to applaud him. Honestly, I was *this* close to asking him to autograph my menu for the sheer pleasure of it. But the food, oh *the food*. If there was ever a dish that could teach a MasterClass on how to be delicate yet powerful, it was the sushi at Ki. Each bite was like biting into a cloud made of rare, exquisite fish and the kind of rice that you could imagine being harvested by the hands of ancient sushi monks in a sacred temple in Japan, where only the purest grains are allowed to touch their sacred sushi knives. Every piece of sushi was served so beautifully, I almost felt guilty eating it like I was defiling a masterpiece. The tuna sashimi? *Melt-in-your-mouth* doesn t even begin to describe it. It was like someone had distilled the essence of the ocean, added a dash of luxury, and wrapped it all in a bite-sized, Instagrammable dream. And dont even get me started on the cocktails. At Ki, they don t just serve drinks they serve *experiences*. My cocktail arrived looking like something that could ve been featured in a high-fashion magazine. It had the right amount of smoke, the perfect garnish, and a flavor that I m fairly sure could cure existential crises. I didn t just drink it; I *celebrated* it. By the end of the meal, I felt like I had just completed a full journey one that took me from just hungry to I now understand the true meaning of life and why I will never again settle for mediocre sushi. Ki didn t just fill my stomach; it filled my soul. It was a meal I ll remember for the rest of my life, mostly because I can t quite afford to go back. In conclusion, if you re looking for a place where you can experience what it feels like to eat in a space that makes you question your entire existence, and you happen to have a *ridiculous* amount of disposable income, then Ki Modern Japanese + Bar is absolutely the place for you. Trust me, you haven t truly eaten sushi until youve eaten it in a place where even the air tastes expensive.
Stellar day or night. When you re tired of the same old steak
Server was flustered and not the most friendly. She seemed overworked. I also noticed that when you tip, you are tipping on the HST as well, which is rather disappointing!
Fantastic food, great atmosphere, great drinks. Whats not to like?!
Not a premium japanese cuisine. The food was ok, but dont expect a great experience. The octopus was rubberish and the 40$ cod was clearly overpriced for the size of the meal. Vegetarian options: Some vegetarian options
Great experience. Highly Recommend
For modern Japanese, its honestly just okay for the price. Service was fantastic and carried the meal but nothing was really that special from anything we ordered. Stand out items was the pork gyozas, the octopus skewers and the shiso lemonade I ordered. The Maki (we ordered 6 different ones), nigri (3 different ones) and skewers that were all just okay with no stand out flavours or uniqueness. So for me the price really wasnt worth it, especially for the size of the Maki being 4-6 pieces that were small. You can go to any other well rated smaller traditional Japanese restaurant for the exact same food quality at a more reasonable price. Although perhaps the cold or hot plates may be their more stand out items.
Still consistently great in both food and service.
The restaurant is huge and has many seating options and the decoration is eloquent. However, the food is not as expected. The sushi was average, but a very good choice for a business lunch or dinner.
This used to be our go-to for business and family gatherings. What the hell happened? The food has gone way down hill! Service was outstanding which saved it from a total disaster! Would have preferred JSan at home for 1/4 of the price!
Awesome service, Good food. Loved the recommended Eels.
Amazing food and atmosphere!!
I needed assistance with someone urgently and ran into this beautiful restaurant. Instantly was met with some of the most gracious hospitality. The staff were so kind and helpful. In my brief moment there I got a sneak peak of their incredible chefs doing some finishing touches on some beautifully plated food. Once I got home I couldn t get the place, ambiance, hospitality, and food out of my mind. I ve made reservations to take my boyfriend here as a surprise for his birthday. Thanks Ki, Can t wait What a welcoming, beautiful restaurant.
Straight up finance bro restaurant! If you are a finance bro then this is the place for you!
Its good. But over priced for what it is.
Dietary restrictions: Our waitress Jamie treated us amazingly! She gave us great recommendations, assisting us while we chose which dishes to pick keeping positive and outgoing energy the whole time. Great food definitely worth the price, and they even had a happy anniversary note for my girlfriend and I as we were directed to our seats!! Will be visiting again!
One of the best sushi restaurants in the area. IG: fahedfitness Food : 5/5
It s popular with the Bay Street set.good food and atmosphere.
Great food - we sat on the patio on a gorgeous Saturday pm - service amazing, ambience low key and perfect
Came here for lunch and loved it! Everything we had was delicious and service was great. We really enjoyed the dynamite roll and kk beef maki. The hojicha crumble cake and matcha cheesecake for dessert were both excellent!
Fresh and delicious,everything is good.
We had such a great experience at Ki for our anniversary dinner - atmosphere was fantastic, our server Jamie (shout out Jamie, youre amazing!) was so attentive, fun to chat with and her recommendations were so on point. We also loved the Whisky flight & range of cocktails. Food was tasty, portions were perfect... overall it was a great night, and we will definitely be back!
The ambiance was the only thing lacking and it was more so the lack of a full house - as it was back in the days before covid - but in their defence it is also Caribbeanna weekend and a civic holiday weekend. Fritz was our bartender/server and he just absolutely made the experience. It was my friend s first time having sushi and this was the best place I could think of to introduce him and it did not disappoint. From the wine pairing to the sampling of nigiri and sashimi morsels - hand picked by yours truly - to the striploin I enjoyed immensely and my friends having the tiger shrimp and spare ribs that was bar none amazing - the entire meal was a Chef s kiss. Thank you, Fritz and Ki for making a memorable night.
Food took 2h to come out.. During lunch, wouldnt come back to take clients to.
Went for my husband s birthday and made a reservation on OpenTable for a Friday night. We had high expectations given the location and its usual busyness, but it wasn t busy when we visited. Here s what we ordered and our thoughts: - **Pork Belly Skewers**: The only tasty item we had (but its hard to get pork belly wrong). - **Salmon Ceviche**: Not ceviche. It was more like sashimi cuts with dressing. Having enjoyed ceviche in Toronto and just returning from a trip to Peru the week before, we were very disappointed. - **Three Types of Makimono**: Dynamite, Torched A5 Wagyu, and Kyoto maki all tasted like grocery store sushi. - **Cocktails**: Both were below average, so we didn t order more drinks. When we mentioned our reservation to the hostess, she didn t check it because they weren t busy. This meant they didn t know it was my husband s birthday, so no special effort was made. That said, our sever was pleasant and helpful. Overall, it was far from a happy experience. When we asked for the check, the server asked if we weren t ordering mains and more drinks. We made an excuse to leave (not his fault the food was below average). For the price we paid, I would highly recommend a couple of other japanese/peruvian restaurants within 2 -10 walking distance from Ki. We ended up picking up pizzas on our way home to salvage the night with a better meal.
Not sure how it takes over 20 minutes and 3 requests from 3 different waiters just to get your bill... But Jojo and his team were able to pull this feat off impeccably Awful service.
Extremely attentive and knowledgeable service in an elegant location. We enjoyed the food especially the tempura. The sake and whiskey flights were fun. Recommended.
Absolutely loved our lunch at Ki. The food, drinks and flavours were impeccable. Saby was fantastic. Very attentive and wonderful service provided. They also catered for a coeliac allergy with different menus and gluten free soy sauce, which were already on the table for us.
Great good, great service, place is starting to see some wear and tear.
Service was excellent food was fresh and reasonably priced. Highly recommend
A great Japanese spot with the ambiance of Brookfield Place all around. If you want to make it in business you need to eat here. The added benefit is the food is great.
Not worth the price, not fresh, not good. Literally something I could buy from the grocery store, great service but very bad quality food. Was expecting a lot more for the price i paid for, chef should be worried about what s going on in his kitchen.
Love the modern take on Japanese Cuisine! The ingredients are so fresh and the dishes are beautifully plated!
This place was the first time I ate Sushi. Great choice rescinded by a friend.
Food
Great food and great service. Maybe a bit too loud during the lunch hours. It was difficult to carry out a conversation.
One of my favourites
Amazing food and service. Vegetarian options: Good variety of vegetarian options. Food : 5/5 |
Food is great service great little pricey but enjoyed our lunch
Cant speak highly enough about this place. Incredibly friendly servers and stunning food.
Underated Japanese food. Great service and management.
Everything was fantastic. Service all around was excellent, as was our server Eleni.
Great food and great service. Nice atmosphere as well.
Came here for the first time before the Raptors game at the Scotiabank Area, both for the proximity to the game as well as the fact that everyone has been raving about this restaurant. You know it s gonna be a fancy night when it is someone s job to bring a hot towel to your table and retrieve it shortly after. I would love to know how many towels this restaurant goes through each night, because this place was packed. I was eating with some adventurous folks, with the dietary restrictions of no meat or shellfish, and I can truly say I have never tried this many different types of sushi in one sitting. I did not leave hungry. Some people pre-drink before a basketball game, but I personally prefer to pre-sushi!
Great place to go if youre looking to spend some moola and have a great time!
A great place to hold a get together dinner with friends..our server was friendly and attentive throughout our time there the tables and seats were spacious and cozy food was worth the price. The fried shrimp bucket appetizer was so tasty- well coated and succulent pieces of shrimp inside the eggplant side dish was cooked well- the sauce was divine will definitely return!!!
Great cocktails and tasty apps.
Nice spot to go with colleagues to have a good quality sushi
Nice ambience. I enjoyed dinner here.
Our waitress was amazing - i wish i got her name. She made great recommendations and i could tell, she enjoyed her job. She literally made customized drinks for us. She also removed our drink that we hated. The food was excellent, portions a bit small, but we ordered so much. Also could be we ate so fast. We loved every but one dish, it was too sweet. This place is clean, huge and great food. Salmon skewers, tempura (veg) chicken karega, cod (not our fav), eggplant fried.
I love the vibe and the atmosphere, as the owner said contemporary Japanese restaurant and bar. We went there during the rush hours after work hours and before a Raptors game so maybe it explained while there was quite a wait time for the foods. I ordered plum wine but it took quite sometime to get it. The foods were good, but not top notch to my view, given the price. To those who love sashimi like me: not a lot of sashimi choices. $100-ish per person for a good dinner with a drink (before tax and tip) , so we had some expectations there. Services were good in general, the only think is when we arrived at the table, we didnt know that hot/cold towel would be served, until we saw all the guests at the table very next to ours were served... while we were not.. something for the restaurant to ensure consistent level of service.
Rio and the staff provided the most ideal experience I have had upon enter the Restaurant. Keep up the great work. Good Vibes.
I ate dinner there last night and got horrible food poisoning. Was sick all night
OVERALL GREAT EXPERIENCE Just when I thought that customer service was a dying art, I visited this place. The food was stellar, pricing reasonable, but what made this truly amazing was our waitress Uliana. She was attentive , knew the menu inside out, and gave great recommendations. We were a group of 8 and she didnt automatically add a gratuity, nor make a fuss about separating bills (which is becoming rare today ). We will definately be back and recommend this place as a great choice.
Some dishes were pretty good, others were just okay. Pretty pricy for what it is. Service was great but atmosphere is pretty corporate. Better for a work lunch than for an evening meal.
Great sushi, and some of the best tasting fish in the city. Definetly worth going and sushi or sashimi style dishes are your friend. Price point would lead you to believe you d be tasting some richer flavours but Japanese food in Toronto comes with a steep price tag so it s just the going rate. I wouldn t put this on par with the Michelin quality Japanese food but the quality of fish is perfect and I d recommend anybody try it for lunch or dinner.
Visiting for work, would highly recommend Ki for happy hour get together or dinner with friends. We asked for the waitress to surprise us based on what we liked and she delivered! Will be back next time I am in Toronto!
Haven t been back to Ki in years, since I worked on Bay St. What has not changed is their unique skill of service that respects a business meeting. They know their location and their servers are so fantastic at facilitating a meeting! I remember being a bit annoyed at the menu complexity when the server said you got this for a drink, and if you want to keep talking I can put something together for you along X, Y or Z lines? Magic. Pretty much Omakase and the meeting was a delicious success. Ah, that s why we always went to Ki for lunch meetings.
Ki is a classic bay st spot. It s always delicious and that s why it s stood the test of time. Highly recommend before a Leafs/Raps game. Service is always 10/10!
Ive twice eaten here and both times the food, service and atmosphere was stellar. This is my go to sushi place in the city for dates or professional business engagements. Cant hesitate to recommend this place enough. Thanks to everyone for all you do to cultivate a superb experience.
Michelle is an amazing server!
Delicious food and great service.
Great experience. We let the waiter pick for us. She brought appetizers and then a selection of sushi, and last was some cooked dishes. The food was great and the wine we selected was also great. I will be happy to come again.
This place exceeded all expectations. Having dinner with colleagues turned into a remarkably immersive culinary experience. Impeccable service, with our waiter attentively guiding us through the menu for utmost satisfaction. The appetizers, particularly the fried shrimp, were excellent, and the overall dining experience was absolutely amazing. I definitely plan to return; highly recommend without hesitation.
The amazing night, end of 2024 year. My first visit in Toronto, Canada, this restaurant is so luxurious and delicious. I order many menu to try. Raw material is really fresh and good taste. Price is really reasonable. Staff service is really warm and good. It is so impressive here. Here is also bar too, you can enjoy your time here. I recommend.
Yummy good service . If you find the good of janpanese restaurants in Toronto .
Amazing customer service and food.
I had a wonderful dinner with my wife welcoming for the first day of year 2024 in Downtown Toronoto. The vibe is really amazing in your restaurant. Our waitress Michelle was very nice and helpful and attentive all night although she was very very busy. Please send her our sincere thank you and gratitude. She also made great recommendations to us for the selection of foods, wines, and desserts. I also appreciate that the sake flight, which I could try various sakes from different provinces of Japan. Overall, we had tasted many delicious foods with an excellent service, which is much higher than our expectations. Thank you again for offering us of the high quality foods, such as Hotate and Hamachi.
Food is always good whenever I come here with colleagues or clients! The sushi and sashimi are always very fresh. Service is top notch! Sumaya the hostess made our visit very welcoming. Awesome reception. Pleasant to speak with a hostess that has an upbeat attitude.
Service was exceptional.
Most favourite place with exclusive flavours
Jojo and Jesse were the best !!!!
for hunters and the hunted after work on BaySt for werkerz
Lively bar up front with a number of dining areas from a long sushi bar, private dining rooms and other open spaces. An exceptional sushi dining experience in the heart of Toronto. The service was and food was spectacular. We had 10 people and everyone was thrilled, even though they had varying tastes. Involving their James Beard award winning sommelier added to our experience (and knowledge of saki). This place I highly recommended. Vegetarian options: They had a variety of vegetarian options, if thats what you wanted. Dietary restrictions: The Service team proactively asked us about any dietary restrictions, which was a nice touch.
The bara chirashi don was so delicious. Definitely a must try
Loved it! Place was elegant. Good vibe! Food & service was great as well. Food portion could be a bit more for price youre paying but overall delicious.
Overpriced for the quality of sushi you get. Surprised with the knowledge of their staff as the Waitress told us they serve raw shrimp but it was cooked instead. Good if you want to go socialize and have drinks, but for quality Japanese food, I would not recommend this restaurant
Very good, but Im a bit annoyed by the fact that Im always served more water.
atmosphere and services 5/5 Food3/5 Food
Dinner Service - Open Table reservations made day of. Ive walked by this restaurant for years and finally decided to try it out. Attentive staff, friendly and welcoming. Our server was excellent. Explained the menu, asked what we liked and recommended dishes. I ordered 4 grilled skewers, maki, and a pavlova for dessert - they were great! 4/5 stars for great food and service. Interior could use a reno or a revamp in decor.
Our server named (Hulyana) *spelling, really knew the menu. Super helpful with her suggestions and service with a smile made our experience a great one. Nigiri and Sahimi style sushi was prepared with care and craftsmanship. Fish was very fresh and definitely a 5 star experience.
Great spot for lunch downtown. Service was very attentive and helpful with suggestions. Everything we had was fresh and delicious. I can t remember the names but check the photos! Favourite was the sashimi with the jalopeno. Least favourite was the torched salmon roll.
We are spoiled with the quality of the food and service. The best sushi experience so far
We came here for a birthday dinner and we re surprised about how quiet and empty the restaurant seemed. Regardless, the service was excellent, the staff very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. We were seated in a nice booth and a card was waiting on the table wishing a happy birthday - that was really nice and thoughtful. My partner enjoyed a Japanese scotch flight and the server did a great job of explaining the origins and production of each element. The food was excellent - the edamame hummus was something else - creamy, like a mousse, and delicious. Super highly recommend trying this. At the end, they brought a complimentary dessert for the birthday which was also very thoughtful. My only complaint is that it was very expensive, for a very small amount of food. To some extent, that s just high-end dining. But all the same, my partner left hungry and we ended up ordering food from a food truck down the street. Not a knock at the restaurant - just be prepared for small portions and high prices and plan accordingly. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options available, vegan options are more of a challenge but staff were able to assist with items/modifications. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options - gluten free menu available and staff are knowledgeable. Parking: It s downtown Toronto so parking is going to be challenging and expensive. Recommend public transit or parking further out and walking in. Kid-friendliness: Not kid-friendly.
Excellent food and there is a good atmosphere. Prices are a bit expensive and a smile from the waitress would be nice.
Came here and had a quick drink and small appetizer. Both appetizers were great, great portion for the price and it taste great too. Service was attentive and not disruptive. Excellent environment. And the ambience is great as well.
Had a quick dinner last night at Sushi bar before heading over to show at SBA. Was very busy so we asked the server if we could get in and out within an hour and she insisted we could. Ordered some Saki, rolls and tempura and all was provided fast and fresh! Great job team Ki! :)
Patio by the Bay street is pleasant as always. Ordered the following drinks: French 75 (a classical one), Tokyo 75 (Ki version of the classical one), and Paper Crane (aperol with Yamauzu sake).
Grabbed a quick bite at 2pm before we headed to hockey hall of fame. We all had the poke bowls and they were phenomenal. A bit more than we wanted to spend for a quick lunch but it was excellent.
A fusion Japanese restaurant with a great selection of Japanese sake, food is not the top quality but acceptable, good service, cozy atmosphere, nice place to chat and drink, price on high side
Top notch service...if you are there ask for Lindsey, she is very attentive has excellent customer service fast and friendly. Great spot for a drink and finger food..Definitely will return back thank you Lindsey
Amazing food !
Good food and very nice setting at a suitable price. Special thanks to Jessie for her advice and sympathy. an establishment that I would happily recommend. Very good food and very nice setting at a decent price. Special thanks to Jessie for her advice and sympathy. An establishment that I would recommend with pleasure.
Beriberinasu Food (*´ *) It was a delicious meal even for Japanese people!
All menus are generally good.
Just been there for first time honestly flawless hospitality given by Kritika was beyond above my thoughts. Serene ambience, mesmerizing all above. Matcha cake isssssssssssssssss ammaaaaazziinnngggg.
Flat out incredible. Food, cocktails, tea, staff. Best sushi I ve had so far. Vegetarian options: Tons of options. Sweet potato roll was by far the best I ve ever had. Dietary restrictions: I don t eat a lot of shellfish, any pork, or any dairy, and there were countless options.
WoW... the two of us went to dinner at Ki today and it was meeeeeegaaaaaaa. Ambience food and service awesome. Our favorites are the Glazed Pork Belly and the Spicy Tuna Roll. Thanks to Jessi our waiter for the amazing evening and the great tips for Toronto. See you next time
Amazing atmosphere Great tasting food. Wonderful service
Amazing dinner. Chris served and was super knowledgeable about the menu & made us feel super at home!! 10/10!
Totally love this place. A bit on the pricey side so may not be for everyone but the food was 10/10
Expensive, but food is not bad, not necessarily worth it either, there are better cheaper options.
We had Leslie serving us and she was exceptional. We went with her sampling recommendations and loved it. Thanks for a great evening at Ki followed by a great night at the TIFF seeing Sly!
They charged $7 for just a pot of tea. It s outrageous. I m not commenting on food prices, just a pot of tea for $7 is ridiculous, for a nice place it should be complimentary.
Every time we visit family in the GTA, a meal at Ki Modern Japanese + Bar is a must for us, particularly as its my wifes favourite spot. The restaurant truly offers value for money, especially when you consider the exceptional quality of both the food and service. When compared to similar establishments in the UK, the prices here are quite reasonable. Its always a delightful experience dining at Ki, and we eagerly look forward to our next visit. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic and upscale Japanese dining experience.
The restaurant has a good atmosphere and good service, but the food quality needs improvement
Great food, great decor, great ambience.
Food is overpriced. Service is extremely slow. And waiters forget about your orders. And this was not even during a busy time. Lots of tables were empty.
Wonderful experience! The prices are above average. Although all the dishes we ordered were all pretty good, the butterfish Nigiri and Bistro Shrimp Tempura were outstanding and much recommended. The service was excellent and overall atmosphere was good. We sat by the Sushi bar. It would have been nice to be able to see the actual food been made across us, however the bar table and a rather high counter top which blocked the view. Nonetheless a great experience.
Great experience. Food was exquisite and service too. We took recommendations and had several rolls, sushi and sashimi. This together either some sake, amazing
Average food a little bit high price but ambience is quite great
Excellent service and menu. Quiet and romantic atmosphere
My partner and I always wanted to go to Ki and last Friday, we went for a date night. The food sure tastes superior, and the service and interiors feel grand. It was fairly crowded.
We just had an early dinner before the Raptors game opener. Jamie and Doriana were the best. Food was excellent. Were always pleased with Ki. Thank you!
Starters - shrimp, shishito peppers, edamame, miso soup was all really good esp Shrimp and Shishito. Mains - salmon one was ok but butterfish sushi was damn good Overall good experience price is obviously on higher side, compared to Miku, I would rate this lower
Great food, especially the black cod - delicious! And great service, led by Jesse
Great service, knowledgeable staff. Huge selection of sake. Food was a little disappointing and very expensive but this is a great drinking and snacking place.
A business meeting. Drinks and apps. Someone else paid
I had an outstanding experience at Ki on Thursday night, thanks to our server. Her service was exceptional attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. She made our evening truly enjoyable, and her personalized recommendations were spot on. I highly recommend Ki, and I m grateful for the wonderful service we received. Thank you Michelle!
Soooo good
Very nice environment, tables were all booked but we were able to sit at the sushi bar, comfy chairs, friendly and accommodating staff and food was good. The mango juice and California Makimono were my faves. The pricing is quite a lot for the portions received but that is obvious from the start, as it is a fancier establishment. The food took a bit longer than expected to arrive although again, all their tables were booked, even for a Tuesday night, so that was also expected. Reservations are a must for a table.
Great place .... Ive been there a few times but today was great ... The value for money got better with inflation ;) Seriously I had a great meal tonight so, thank you :)
Last night, my dining experience at KI, a Japanese restaurant, was far from satisfactory. Despite its promising ambiance, the service severely lacked efficiency and understanding. Firstly, the wait time for our food was excessively long. After placing our order, it took over 45 minutes for the dishes to arrive. When we expressed our frustration to the staff, their response was disappointing. Instead of addressing our concerns, we were presented with a bill for $100 for the food we had barely received. What was more disconcerting was the staffs attitude when we questioned the rationale behind paying for a service that was so delayed. The reply was dismissive, implying that we should pay regardless of the significant wait time. In summary, while the setting of KI might be inviting, the service and handling of customer complaints are areas that need serious improvement. This experience has unfortunately tainted our view of the restaurant, and we are hesitant to recommend it to others looking for a pleasant dining experience.
My visit to Ki restaurant today was extremely disappointing. The first two dishes arrived promptly, but then there was a 30-minute delay. After inquiring about the delay, we discovered that our server had forgotten to place our order for the dynamite dish. It took an additional 15 minutes to finally receive our food. At that point, we decided to leave due to the extended wait. When we expressed our disappointment, the server abruptly removed our plates and informed us that the rest of the orders would be removed from the bill. We were taken aback by this behavior and questioned why we should be charged for a meal we were not satisfied with. To our surprise, the server tore up the receipt right in front of us and left. This was a rather rude experience, and its unexpected in Canada, where customer service is typically highly regarded.
Food was good. Pricey, corporate environment. Our waitress was excellent but despite a reservation, when I arrived, I was taken to a table that was already seated. They found another table rather quickly and when my guest arrived.. they did the exact same thing. They took my client to the wrong table. I overheard my table number when I was being seated and was able to text them the number so the staff could find where they had seated me. For the price, especially considering all the great choices in the city. I expect far more professionalism with something as simple as seating, even with the change they had to make.
Delicious .this is all I can say.
WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! If you want a nice dining experience this is not the place. The Assistant General Manager creates an unsafe dinning experience for her paying customers. Let me explain what happened. On November 6th there was a large and aggressive protest taking place at Bay and Wellington right in front of the restaurant. The entire area was locked down for security concerns. We did not know this was taking place until we arrived from the underground parking lot which had an entrance on Front Street which wasn t locked down. We were seated for dinner near the washrooms. About halfway through our dinner the restaurant started letting in these protestors to use the bathroom. After about 10 people walked by, I went to the assistant general manager and asked her politely if she could stop letting them in since there were lots of public bathrooms nearby. To my surprise her response was I m just trying to support a cause . WOW, I did not expect this response. As a paying customer in a fine dining establishment you would think that the security of its customers should take precedent over an employees political beliefs. We did not feel safe in this restaurant so we paid our bill and left. Apparently this wasn t the first time the assistant general manager made a bad judgement call. Lots of better places to eat and drink downtown.
Disappointing evening. Took our friends for what we expected would be a nice quiet dinner. Over the course of the meal, there was a steady flow of people coming past our table on their way in and out of the washrooms. Turns out they were participants in a loud rally that had made its way to just outside the restaurant. A heavy police presence surrounded the rally outside for security, but participants were given access by the manager to use the restaurant bathroom instead of the public bathroom in the building. Its not what you would expect from a $$$$ fine dining establishment. Definitely wont be back.
That wasabi mayo served with the shrimp tempura was outstanding. The food here was so good! Service is great and the environment is very elegant. Even the washroom was nice!!! If youre looking for a nice dinner, Ki is the place!
Overpriced and terrible
First time tried Japanese cuisine. I don t have other experience to compare it but the taste is so flavorful. Loved the food. Had veg platter. Each dish was amazing. Definitely will dine in again.
Ask them to take care of you if you are new to the restaurant
I went there one night and it was busy we were standing at the bar and I ordered 6 glasses of house wine and ended up being charged for the most expensive wine Definitely will not be going back. Service
Great food and drinks, plus fast and efficient service with personal touches. Cant wait to come back to this fab place!
The ambience is amazing, feels like you are at a high-end restaurant in Tokyo. Amazing service and delicious drinks. The food is an American version of Japanese food. Mizuki Negroni and Kush Striploin were some of my favourites. I give 5 stars for the service and the atmosphere.
Great fusion restaurant with nice atmosphere. The food was amazing! Quite expensive place but worth it.
Food
Great food, great drinks, atmosphere is for the young office workers after work.
I surprised my daughter for her 16th birthday!!! The chef made her a beautiful birthday cake plate!! Food
Updated Review: I m not sure I will be back to this restaurant for a long while. It appears as though our last experience with the person at the front desk was the beginning of downward trend. My visit last night was not good. I was seated at my table and waited for 13 minutes for someone to come and give me a menu. The person dropped the menu off and walked away. 10 minutes later I was offered water (which never came) my Pepsi did however. I ordered my food and the food came, I still did not have cutlery or anything to eat it with. It s worth noting that when I was seated at my table another server was chatting with the table beside me and at one point sat down with them to talk. I m ok with that however please be aware of the surroundings. Even a gesture of I see you and I ll be with you soon would be enough. Nothing. It was very clear is an after thought. I thought it was a one off thing and the night would get better. It did not unfortunately and I left feeling as though I had wasted my time and money. The service has gone way, way, way down here. It s a shame as we used to live this place. Original review from a few months ago below. Ki is our favourite restaurant to eat at. The food is consistently good and the service is generally friendly. We were a little nervous this time when first arrived. The person working at the front desk was not very welcoming. Didn t even look at us. LOL. We had a reservation. It turned out ok.
