3187 Yonge St, Toronto, ON M4N 2K9, Canada
Comfort sushi spot serving creative rolls plus traditional Japanese fare, with à la carte options.
Tried Yonge Sushi for the first time last night. Fantastic experience, high quality, affordable menu items. Ideal for families, excellent variety. Highly recommend salmon lovers combo. This will be my go to sushi restaurant now.
Portion sizes heavily decreased in the party tray (at least 30% smaller) and more expensive ($80 for 70 pieces but the size of a quarter). Service was also less than satisfactory. Disappointed as a long time customer of Yonge Sushi.
AFFORDABLE. TASTY. FRESH. I really like the avacado and the sushi pizzas! Def give it a try! Very clean place, and super fast service. Me and my friends got Ice cream on the house ❤️🥹! We ate everything!
Loved the sushis, loved the service. The atmosphere needs some improvement for sitting and eating. Prices are also good. Would order and come again definitely. Thanks
Nice clean place, sushi was tasty, and service too. Waiting for take out was 15 min. Which is great. I had Dynamite Rolls and Sundrop rolls, delicious as I love mango.
Well, l can’t say they are not tasty, but there are some stuff l can’t ignore. We asked for water 3 times and its came after food. There is fall apart plate they serve with. Also, slow to take away dirty dishes. Price value is same as other places.
Not sure why other reviews are so positive, because we had a day-ruining experience here. Food looked rather plain and the taste was average (lacked ingredients), while ice cream was icy, not creamy. Tempura was pretty good though. We gave this place a fair chance, but seeing how our orders came in wrong and the taste was so plain, we left quickly. Probably will not come back here, sorry.
Tasty sushi and fresh fish. Service can be slow when they get busy but dishes come out consistent and not rushed. Good but basic selection, they do your typical rolls and they do them well. Reasonable price, best Ayce in the area
Good price to satisfy sushi craving.
Just had my lunch there - the food is fresh and delicious - good value for money.
Sadly no longer AYCE. However, combos and bento were well priced and tasty. Would consider coming back.
This a suggestion from once-an-insider extremely POOR hygiene and quality control they recycle left over ginger wasabi and other food from customers dont go there.
Fast service and great food. Closed on Tuesdays.
Staff are very rude, and treat kids so rudely, They also add their own tip to the order without showing how much they put. Not only do they yell at us and tell us to hurry up when ordering, but also get annoyed and angry when we ask about orders they forgot to bring out.
So fresh and good selection.
Veggie dragon rolls are delicious (and Im very particular). Great value and service.
Order from Uber eats, half of my order was missing. Do not recommend if you want to eat what you actually ordered.
Absolute bad service and attitude ever.
The food was fresh and delicious, the people were super friendly. The price was really good too. We ordered a lunch special that came with sushi, salad, and soup, and we paid less than $15.00.
Always love this place for tasty (and very reasonably priced) sushi. We are regulars here (about once to twice a month).
loved this place!!! they were so nice and gave me and my boyfriend a miso soup on the house! the food was good, not expensive and came out fast. definitely will be back!
Small, simple, clean, family owned and operated business with good customer service and great food at fair prices. Just don t expect fancy! Vegetarian options: I was with a vegetarian friend and he was satisfied with menu.
We love this small restaurant. Everything is always fresh. Good value, good variety of food and free ice-cream with dinners. Highly recommended. Vegetarian options: Veggie sushi menu available
Great value neighborhood sushi
Amazing sushi! Good price, always on time. Never had any issues.
Ordered Tray E through SkiptheDishes last week. At $36 for 25 pieces, thats on the higher end for sushi platters, especially from AYCE restaurants. The quality was okay, it tasted fresh and the portions were acceptable. I shouldve mentioned in the comments not to include surf clam, but thats my own fault as I dont eat that cut of fish. Its a bit of a weird portion, too much for one person but not enough for 2. One thing that was weird was how huge the tray was, and how they tried to spread 25 pieces of sashimi into a big party tray serving. You can clearly see from the photo that theres a lot of empty space and they probably couldve packed it in a smaller container. Not a huge deal, but it just feels like theyre trying to make the portion seem bigger than it is. Also, we had to wait a long time for the order - Skip said that the restaurant needed more time to prepare the order. Not sure if its because we ordered on a Friday night, but usually AYCE restaurants are very fast paced in cranking out orders so that was a bit unusual to me. All in all I liked the sushi but it was nothing special.
Good food. Lunch special is good value
They advertise all you can eat everywhere, went there for all you can eat. And they dont have all you can eat. Dont be fooled.
Sushi was nice and fresh. Salmon was amazing
Good Lunch deals/prices
They were slammed at restaurant so got take out...20mins Party tray for 2 Tempura shrimp Free spicy salmon roll
Nice quick sushi place.
Too slow, I have waited an hour, but still cannot pick up.
Amazing quality sushi and very fair price. Everything is always fresh. Been going here for years.
Ordered takeout from Ubereats and the sushi was terrible, one of the worst I ve had. The spicy salmon wasn t even remotely spicy, salmon tasted old and slimy. I had to drench in soy sauce for it to be slightly edible
The food was pretty good, but pretty much exactly what you would expect... nothing flashy or unique. You get what you order, I suppose. The service as well was pretty lack-lustre...our server didnt speak English that well (theres nothing wrong with that), so we had some difficulty with communication. She charged us for the wrong table (for which she quickly realized and corrected)... overall, it was a pretty okay experience.
We love this place and are happy to have finally found a quality sushi place locally! They have the freshest sashimi I have had in Toronto and the price is so reasonable for what you get. Owners are lovely as well!
Great sushi services was a bit slow but the sushi made up for it.
The service was fast and the staff was polite. Being first timers, they gave enough time for us to decide our order. I would especially recommend their deep fried scallops and Udon noodles. The dynamite roll however did not live up to the hype, though it tasted fine. I would definitely visit here again to try other stuff on their menu. Would be great if they served ramen too.
I love their lunch specials! A good amount of food for a good price.
Good
I have been a Yonge sushi customer for over a decade, & when it shut down over the last year I had missed sushi so so much & quite honestly refused to order from anywhere else. Finally it s opened up just a few blocks south of their old location & we couldn t be happier!!! Their rolls are incredibly fresh, tons of veggie options for me (apps, rolls, etc) and it s owned by the nicest family.. incredibly excited it s reopened & sushi saturdays are back! Hahaha
Ordered for takeout, waited 10 minutes in an empty restaurant while all the employees were just talking and chatting. Service is horrible; or they just don t care, I don t know. Had to get back to work on time but they saw me and didn t even ask what I needed. Just did their own thing until I said I have to leave. At least 2 employees saw me and didn t do anything.
I have been going here with friends for sushi Friday since 2010, and I still have not found a better sushi restaurant, especially at this price point. It is extremely fresh and the owners are the nicest people. I was very sad to see it close a few months ago, but am extremely excited that they have reopened. Looking forward to many more years of enjoying their sushi!
Happy to have this local gem back in business (new location) in the neighbourhood.
How I didn t know about this place before?! Great food, great service, will definitely come back!
The quality has always been good to above average with the odd issue but overall I enjoyed yonge sushi.the AYCE was a good value. They always said they would bring it back and even now you can t get a straight answer from them. It s a shame to turn your back on so many regulars as most that go for AYCE sushi will not consider A la carte nearly as often. I don t want to spend 100 dollars to get the same spread of sushi/sashimi/tempura all at the same quality as AYCE. If cost is the issue just raise your ayce price I hope ownership strongly considers this.
Super disappointing. Reading these goods reviews and not understanding what they are based on. All my rolls came stuffed with tempura bits as filler. Hardly any fish. The beef short ribs and shrimp tempura were tasteless. The tuna sashimi was super fishy too - didnt taste fresh at all.
Tried their new location as they recently opened back up. Very disappointed as they do not do AYCE, yet their website and outside signage says that they are AYCE sushi. It is a la carte. They are spreading mis-information to all potential customers. Do yourself the favour and call them before going here.
Newocation is very nice. Delicious food. Great value.
Overall 3.5 rating. - sushi was decent, but sashimi/ fish can be fresher for my preference - good price and reasonable portions - fast service - overall a nice place for a quick sushi fix You can order through their website, and over $40 purchases comes with a free side of edamame or spring rolls. Overall convenient website with good navigation. Nice selection of simple/ basic options commonly found in japanese restaurants in toronto ranging from rolls to sashimi and hot items. Rolls were good ratio of rice to filling. Rice was well seasoned, and not overpowering everything else as it was a nice thin layer. The set of 56 came with a good 5-6 variety of rolls, and overall were quite standard in taste, so nothing out of the ordinary/spectacular, but good for the price. Happy to purchase again for the sake of price and convenience if youre around the neighborhood, but wont expect anything too fancy/ extravagant in terms of taste.
1st time ever trying sushi. My sons bday so it was his choice and i had to go. I refused to try it.. not a fan of anything new..I was pleasantly surprised. Their mango rolls, California rolls and beef teriyaki are all off the chain. Ill be going back soon.
The highest quality sushi in Toronto. Fish is ALWAYS fresh (weve been ordering from here for years), and the menu has a great range of options. The chicken karaage and edamame are delicious!
We used to go this place frequently and unfortunately they closed during pandemic. We went back here yesterday as soon as we got the reopening message. Everything was so fresh and amazing. I could not get enough of those rolls. It is undoubtedly one of the best sushi places in Toronto. Service was so fast and friendly! Highly recommended!
This restaurant advertised on their storefront as being All You Can Eat but they are not as they say they not longer offer this since COVID-19. Signage should be changed as this is false advertising and quite misleading.
Originally, I go to this sushi for ALL YOU CAN EAT, but they said it is over but still in their advertising. After ordering the set of sushi, it shows me bad quality of sushi, the sushi is not thawed.
I tried Yonge Sushi this morning, the promotion all you can eat was cancelled. So I can only order sashimi and sushi lunch set. The Sashimi was totally disappointing, sashimi is not fresh and stinks. And most horrible thing is that I felt unwell after the lunch set. I thought the sashimi was not clean. Absolutely Not recommended!
Absolutely horrendous
Pretty good sushi. After our favourite sushi place in the area closed down, we ve been going here more often. Fast and good selection of sushi, tastes pretty good! Nothing to complain about.
All was nice
Been here before, food was grade, sushi was fresh, came foe ayce. Lots of variety. Came here recently after the move for dinner, the place is usually packed from what i remember, but its dead empty at dinner. After ordering I understood why. 1. Sushi was NOT fresh, rice looked old and sticky.. eww, Salmon sushi looked old and stale. Smelled a little. We barely ate 2. Feels like they changed chef or something, the apps and side menu was bland and no taste, or too salty 3. Removed acye but still advertising it(it wasnt a huge deal because we just wanted to have some good sushi but that was a huge disappointment) Guess wont be coming back here anymore..so sad to see a once good local eatery like this
So great to see this local treasure back in business with their new location. Highly reccomend exploring their signature rolls which seperate them a part from many other similar places. My favourite is their take/spin on the Philidephia Roll!
They don t do all-you-can-eat
All you can eat is not available here. It s not on anymore but it doesn t say that until you arrive. Dont come if that s what you re looking for.
Japanese man is very nice
The salmon sushi is good, its fresh too , love the shrimp tempura very crispy, if you love to eat salmon head salmon koma is the best, rolls were tiny .The associate were very nice, this restaurant is clean, not so big though .
Rude customer service.
Beautiful Whole menu is perfect
The lunch special is great value and the sushi is really fresh. I have only gotten take out, but I think that is what they specialize in. I only have good things to say about the food.
Been coming here for years - great local spot for sushi!
Always consistent, fresh, tasty and well priced! A great neighborhood gem and crowd pleaser.
It used to be very nice affordable place for all you can eat. But they don t have it anymore
This has to be one of the most adorable family owned sushi restaurants Ive been to. Although I was initially annoyed that I wasnt noticed when I walked in, a young lady did attend to be promptly and took my order. The food tasted fresh and the portion sizing was appropriate for the price charged. The owners then finished off by offering me some ice cream on the house. I will be visiting again and I recommend you do too
Very affordable lunch special, and was delicious
Love their sushi! But the one that I m coming back for more are their Chicken karaage. I ve ordered a lot of karaage in different restaurants but this is my favourite.
Thanks for a great lunch today! I am at my desk working and enjoying some great rolls. Keep up the good work!
Amazing sushi. Rice to fish ratio was superior to most places.
Delicious and fresh food, in a great location. Usually get the delicious party trays.
This is our neighbourhood go to sushi restaurant. Consistently good sushi, consistently good service.
If you eat a lot, the chef/owner will notice. While I was eating, they opened the door wide and said it was closing, raising dust, so I had to stop eating and leave. Its run by an Asian, but they dont like Asians coming.
Fantastic sushi @ good price point
Excellent sushi, great price and top notch service combined with promotional incentives.
Best takeout place for Sushi & Sashimi. Delicious, fresh and decent sized portions. Ordering App is easy to use and allows you to customize your order. They even have great freebies if you order $30+. My family faves are the Alaska roll and black/red dragon rolls.
Generous portions, interesting rolls, very good sashimi!
Usually good. Recently have forgotten 2 different orders with 2 different items missing. Asked if they could deliver items and they said it would take over an hour. Not ordering again till they change their service.
Green tea ice cream
I used to really like this place. Nothing flashy nothing over the top mind blowing just solid sushi good tempura and good price AYCE with decent lunch options. Since the pandemic I supported them for a long time with takeout business in hopes that I would be able to return for AYCE. It seems they have 0 interest in going back to doing AYCE because I imagine the margins arent as good as doing takeout for way higher prices. I like this place as a decent well priced AYCE joint but.... if they stay takeout...I wont be back. as of a few weeks ago I swore I will not go back. My last dynamite roll had a disgusting lingering taste that was like SUPER garlic/onion tasting. it was so off putting I would spit the roll out when I got that taste. I called to let them know and they just said ok and never offered me any sort of remake or credit for my next order.
TERRIBLE SERVICE,WILL NEVER EVER GIVE THEM BUSINESS AGAIN
They have a very good menue. Very aforadable. They are very generous. I love their sushi and combos for dinner.
Loved this place before pandemic. Today ordered rolls via uber eats. The cheapest and most disgusting stuff Ive ever ate.
Work down the street and this is just the best. My office orders from here quite frequently l. Good fresh food, great value, and friendly staff. Thank you for filling my belly!
Good place for Sushi.
Amazing food, efficient staff!
The sushi was a hit at New Years. Complements from multiple guests about the quality of the fish. As the host, I was pleased with the relatively reasonable price and variety in the party trays. Will be ordering again! Happy New Year.
Excellent! During the holidays, the place was packed, and everyone was apparently very satisfied with the food. The All you can eat scheme is really worth it. Everything was fresh and the service was also good!
Delicious food at great prices. My go to sushi place in midtown!
Not bad, all you can eat, decent price
Good Food. Salt was on a higher side in rolls. Otherwise, overall it was good.
Three stars for the price, but there were food limits and time limits. Not really a big deal unless youre staying a long time. Basically just a sushi place.
Not the best food and the staff behaviour.
My go to place for sushi. Fast service and always great food
Honestly myself and my partner have been here once recently but will be going again and again. Cost effective AYCE and the sushi and maki are amazingly portioned and yeah just the cost to amount of fish is fantastic for the area! Highly recommend going!
Cozy place with great food and service !
Fresh and tasty food
Heard good things. I tried to place an order but there website doesnt seem to have a menu, everything links to skip dishes website. Also I dont see a phone number on the website but google has it. Went to google images and searched for their menu and was able to find something but not sure if its current. Please add a menu to your website!
Good price, good selection especially if you go for dinner. Would come back again.
-They do not openly post the prices, i had to ask them. Monday dinner prices was $25.99 for adult AYCE. -Staff was nice. -10% cash discount on orders over 16$ -I would skip or order less appetizers, they dont tell you how many pieces on the menu, and it is a lot. Avoid the the cutlet/katsu, it is very dry and it is very filling in a bad way. -a couple years ago, lunch on weekdays AYCE was between $10-15, which was very good. Not sure about current price.
Came for the first time and the food was really good. Teriyaki sauce was a weird consistency but it was okay. Then came in one more time one evening and was seated at the back, waited for like 10 minutes but was never attended to. So we left.
Went there to pick up lunch. Great expeience!
Best sushi in the area that wont break the bank. I like their rolls, good rice to ingredient ratio.
The sushi is not bad here especially for the price
Overall terrible Uber eats experience. I really love makerel and its one of my go-tos for sushi and sashimi. The subtle flavour of the sea and texture are unique to this fish and are desired if prepared and served correctly. This makerel was no better than eating goldfish straight out of the tanks at PetSmart. The nigiri was clumsy with a clear shoe to the bottom of the pieces, the rice was also overworked and hard. Salmon and tuna slices for sashimi were good but the remainder of the sashimi pieces were merely nigiri slices (with the exception of surf clam which should be thin.) I gave a 3 star rating on Uber eats but writing this out a second time and looking at the other 4 pieces of makerel in the garbage bin Im settling on a 1. Id like to give this restaurant another chance but not sure if I should or would recommend.
I been here 2 years back when there was all you can eat. I just tried for pick up today through skip the dishes. I was poorly treated by the owner I think or was a lady at front desk. I just said skip order and yelled like dont rush and was doing something behind the counter. I felt it very rude and layout saying dont rush, wherein wasnt rushing. It is really hard where we customers are supporting locals and the owners treat so rude. I have to change rating from 5 to 1.
Decent take out sushi, fresh. Not too much rice
Good food, big selection and very affordable at lunch. Everytime Ive gone the staff are also very friendly. For those wondering it is an AYCE restaurant but if you dont want all you can eat you can just order off the menu.
Good place for cheap sushi
The sushi was good. The price reasonable. Service good. Washroom was a bit of an adventure to get to but clean.
excellent value
This place may not look like much at first but the taste of the sushi was amazing. We had all fresh ingredients. I mean all, the salmon cucumber avacado even the rice was warm and fresh. This place is a hidden gem and should definitely be on your visit list. Also lunch is 17 bucks and i find the quality to be more than worth it, I will be back here again for a review of the dinner. Our sushi chef deserves the commendation
Sushi was good but the terrible service ruins it. They kept missing our orders and were quick to rush us out despite making us wait super long for everything.
Probably best sushi I ve had in the gta. I moved about 45 minutes away and I will still take the time to visit on my only days off because it s that great. parking can be tough to find, and depending the day service can be somewhat slow but I can t complain considering It s the best all you can eat sushi in town. Yonge sushi is one of the only places that I ve found uses fresh, ripe ingredients and somehow stays affordable, I m shocked it s not extremely packed more often considering the location and price point. I can honestly say this is one of my favourite places to eat in Toronto.
Good place if you want to be filled with food for a reasonable price. Very quick with bringing out orders.
Fair prices and really really good, if they use tablets for orders tho
Really good food for the price. Will be coming back soon.
Great staff, fresh tasty sushi and prices are beyond reasonable, I highly recommend! Thank you, well be back!
They are okay. The staff seem like they have no heart in what they are doing. The quality is satisfactory and the price is low but the experience was limited.
Fresh seafood, salmon and white tuna were delicious. Best budget AYCE in Toronto.
Delicious fast friendly fresh affordable and convenient hours... What more can you ask for?
No employee is rude. Verify what you ate
A+ food and service, high quality ingredients. Will return for sure.
So delicious
good service Great food Pay parking
Really good ayce
Such fresh food, consistently great food
Deep fried scallops
They have updated their menu and added new items for all you can eat!
Yonge sushi continues to impress me being cheap, fresh, and delicious. Their sushi, sashimi, rolls and tempura are high quality. This is my go to sushi takeout spot as the party trays are great. I really look forward to coming back. This restaurant is on the smaller side however it does not stop it from delivering great food and service.
Favorite sushi place :) great food awesome service :)
A great place for all you can eat sushi. Excellent service and delivery.
Made a big order for 22 people, and not only did they get the order right, it was delivered right on time, with the hot items hot, and the cold items cold, and the quality excellent! Yonge Sushi, you did an awesome job at follow through and we were all very happy with your service! Thank you!!!
Really good for the price but I was hoping for better service. I went here twice. Once for takeout and another for dine in. I noticed that the service is significantly lacking when sitting down to eat vs taking it to go. The waitress passed our table several times after we told her we were ready to order. I called her several times and she didnt even look at us. If you want decent food for the price this is not a bad place. If youre looking for excellent service, maybe go somewhere else.
Good guick service. Great all you can eat.
My boyfriend and I decided to try this restaurant because there were really good reviews on google. We were both really disappointed on the service and how the food was made. The waitress appeared to be miserable and irritated when she was required to do her job. She checked on our table once, however, we usually had to call her over. Right in the middle of serving us she sat down to eat her lunch, so it was difficult to get her attention. I almost felt bad for making her get up but before she sat down to eat, she didnt even check to see if any of her tables needed anything. When we did get her attention she looked irritated that she had to stop eating to serve us. I used to be a server, so I know its definitely not appropriate to be taking your break when you already have more than one table to serve. I dont know what their rules/ regulations are around breaks but they need to be a bit more organized and planned. If shes sitting down to take her break, someone should be covering for her on the floor, which was not the case. The food tasted really good, however, all of our maki rolls were falling apart. We could barely dip it into the soysauce without it falling apart into the sauce- pretty irritating. Had it not been for the horrible service, I would have given this place a higher rating because the food was actually good, especially for the price (minus the messy maki rolls). I will not be returning to this establishment.
Their vegetarian dragon rolls are beyond delicious! Overall great food and service.
very authentic tasting
Is not japanese...
I had placed an order on Skip the Dishes and showed up for my first time to Yonge Sushi. Upon arrival the server advised me that I could have saved a couple of dollars if I had called in the order instead of going through the third-party app. He even suggested I cancel the order so he could just key in their in-restaurant price, but the app wouldnt let me so I was happy to pay what Id planned on paying but deeply appreciated his suggestion. I was surprised to know their in-restaurant prices are cheaper than Skip the Dishes, only because I thought the Skip the Dishes prices were already so reasonable. Their in-restaurant prices are even better! Great quality sushi for a very nice price. When I arrived and saw the restaurant was almost empty (it was only 4:30pm) I asked if I could eat my take-out at a table, and the server was very accommodating. He brought my salad in a bowl instead of the usual styrofoam cup, and never made a single annoyed face or sound. I am extremely happy with my first experience at this restaurant and look forward to trying it again.
Was a great experience. Friendly with really good food. Was my first time. Would recommend!
Worth to pay for all you can eat.
Great place. Food came quick. Price was affordable and staff were friendly.
Great food and Sushi, Avocado roll is so fresh and the Unagi ia amazing! Excellent service
Good all you can eat sushi, however they have the typical ayce sushi tactics on avoiding larger orders of primo items... They will bring half and claim they forgot, etc. I mean if you want high quality sushi youre always better off getting ala carte anyways. The space is limited and can be very busy on weeknights and the weekend.
Lunch buffet $16+ all you can eat. Hot and cold options. Love their tempura and sea food salad. Price has gone up like everything but the quality of the food is good. My favorites: Reg Dragon & Kamikaze. If you find this review helpful please give it a thumbs up. Thank you
Staff were pushy and unwelcoming and obviously annoyed we stayed till close despite calling ahead.
One of the best sushi places in Toronto, highly recommend!! Mango roll is a must!
Very cute place! The all you can eat option is great. Did that for 2 people plus beers and left for roughly $80. The sushi is delicious and prepared/presented nicely, super nice staff. The tuna could have had a bit more flavor, but the other ingredients were great. Also great to order take out!
Awesome!! I get this all the time. They are fast, the rolls are big and fresh. They dont always clarify your order completely and therefore will sometimes prepare the wrong thing, so just make sure you are clear and confirm with them.
Some of the best sushi I had and I like sushi... Very fresh and you cant beat the price on the lunch menu. Worth every penny. Well recommended for lunch.
Not a bad restaurant
Cant say enough good things about this place. Great service even when the restaurant is busy, food is fresh and delicious and theyre accommodating of dietary restrictions.
