Sushi, Ramen and Donburi
Great food and great service. I and my coworkers order our lunch very often. When I told them I am allergic to shellfish and was afraid of the cross-contamination, one of the Sushi Chefs explained me that he would clean his cutting board and knife, and change his gloves to make my order (Nigiri & Maki mix) because he understood me as himself is allergic to shellfish as well. I was impressed with how nice they take care of their guests even though the place is kind of the fast food store.
Just recently started to work in the area, so this was my first time ever trying food at Zen Kyoto. I was really impressed by the quality of the food served and also great service at this location. It is a nice, very well organized food spot located in the PATH between Scotia Plaza and Eaton Centre.
High-quality sushi takeout place. Highly recommend their bowls for best value (sushi is a bit overpriced for the quantity you get compared to bowls in my opinion). Recently ordered the Unagi Don and Chirashi Don which were both delicious – Unagi Don was a bit too sweet for me but otherwise still good! If you spend over $15 you get a free miso soup. Note that the wasabi is on the spicier side here. Have had the Black Dragon Roll and Torched Roll Set in the past which were good as well. Note that this is located in The Path in Bay-Adelaide Center.
Recommended by my colleague. I came here several times l, the staff was very friendly and the sushi was very fresh. Highly recommended for workday lunch.
This is best Japanese food I have ever tried. Not just the food quality but also the care they give to customers. Definitely a good option for working professionals to enjoy! Highly recommend!! The owner cares so much about food quality. Kind stuff. Great experience!!
This restaurant does not accept $100 bills. We are in downtown Toronto, the financial district, how is it possible not to be able to pay with a $100 bill? I already tried this sushi 3 times, I liked it, but unfortunately, yesterday, they lost a client, for sure. Does not make sense to not accept that, if you are afraid of being fake, just buy on amazon a tool to check that, there's more than 20 options for that, so simple!
For a Ramen and Sushi spot in the Path, in the middle of the Financial District, prices are actually very reasonable! Very friendly staff as well and food is always fresh. Have been coming here often!
Located in the Bay-Adelaide Centre, Zen Kyoto is a popular spot during weekday lunch hours. They offer online ordering for in-person pick-up but cater to the fast-paced environment of the area. The prices are higher for the location, but the food quality is much better than Sushi-Q in Toronto Eaton Centre. Expect lines during lunch time, but the pick-up experience and food quality are worth it for the area. Also, their end of day sale is 20% off their items at the fridge section. Their menu offers standard items from cash & carry maki rolls to ramen and donburi. We ordered the Chirashi Don and also got complimentary miso soup. Their miso soup seems to be made with slices of fish cake and possibly winter melon. The Chirashi Don features a mix of sweet shrimp, tuna, salmon, egg, octopus, white tuna, salmon roe, bonito flakes, and shiitake mushrooms on a bed of sushi rice. Their cash and carry section offers a variety of standard rolls, torch sushi, and maki roll combinations. Despite being relatively new, Zen Kyoto operates very efficiently, however, it was extremely busy due to its location in the PATH. The unit is well-organized, with separate cashier sections for the cash & carry and the ramen & donburi orders. They provide paper bags for to-go orders, with differentiating colours for ramen and sushi/donburi. There's no dine-in section as it shares a food court. Service was excellent and the turnover was fast.
The sushi is very fresh and flavourful. Zen is my go-to place when Im downtown.
High Quality Sushi.
Great sushi in a convenient location (in the path right under 40 Temperance Street scotiabank building). Service is quick and great value for excellent quality sushi!
Ordered shoyu ramen using Ritual. The food was ready earlier than expected but not worth $15. The meat tasted off and the noodle was undercooked.
Very fresh and packing is very aesthetic! Definitely will come more often! Food
Fresh & Tasty
Very fresh
With the success of the Zen Kyoto First Canadian Place location, they are opening a 2nd one here at the Bay Adelaide Centre, it has high foot traffic at the PATH level as its a PATH everyone has to walk thru towards Union Station or Eaton Centre. The spot is modern, clean and organized. They offer katsu don, sushi set, sushi rolls, sashimi, chirashi and ramen. The pricing are very reasonable for downtown Toronto Financial District standards. I ordered a bowl of Shio Ramen at $15 CDN + Tax, I waited for a few minutes and its ready to go. They packaged the ramen separated from the broth to avoid ramen getting soggy. Broth is pipping hot, just the way I like it. Broth is clear and clean, although I prefer more flavour from the broth. And the ramen is the thinner version as I prefer the thicker noodles, again, thats just my own personal preference. Would prefer more chopped green onions and black fungus and wish they serve bamboo shoots. Anyhow, the 2 halves of boiled eggs were perfectly prepared, not overcooked, just prefect. Next time, I would like to try its sushi or chirashi don. The salmon and raw fish seems very fresh and the hardworking staff are constantly making fresh batch of sushi. Highly recommend this place, it will be a success especially during lunch time and busy working hours in the financial district.
