As we walked in, we were able to sit at the bar, luckily. I think this place is bigger but I only got to see the front. The pricing is a little high for some things but the food was great. I had the best bao ever here. Although the bun itself was top doughy, the rest of it was scrumptious!

BEWARE OF BUGS. Cool vibe and friendly staff. The food was great until we noticed a cockroach crawling on the wall beside our table. Shortly after we noticed a baby cockroach also on the wall beside us which we were able to take a photo of. Obviously this place is infested. We did not mention anything to avoid making a scene but reached out and received no reply.

This restaurant came highly recommended and it seems like most people love it. My friend and I tried it for dinner, and I can’t say we particularly enjoyed our time. The service was kind but lacklustre. The food was almost TOO flavourful? We ordered three dishes, the slaw, the chicken wings, and the noodles. All three felt like they had the same flavour profile- very salty and vinegary with a sweet and spicy element. Maybe we just ordered the wrong combo but we left feeling quite dissatisfied with our meal. Portion sizes were far smaller than what I see as their usual serving- maybe they’ve cut back after the fire? The drinks also were not great. 17-20$ for tiny cocktails that lack dimension in the flavour profile. Huge pass on the Spa Day cocktail! Very cozy spot tho, maybe good for a quick drink and one dish to nibble on. P.S. wtf is up with the disposable wooden forks?? Those don’t work at all with the food😭

Check the google reviews before dine in here with friends. This is definitely overrated :). 18 dollars for 4 chicken wings with lack of flavor. Duck fried rice 34 bucks, duck breast is chewy and overcooked, as a chef, I won’t come back here again. That’s embarrassing for people trying to do fusion but turns out bs:).

I liked the decoration of this shop when I passed by before, and finally came to try it this time. I didn't expect it to be a Korean restaurant. I scanned online reviews and ordered a squash poutine, which tasted OK, and two cocktails. squash poutine It smells delicious, is seasoned with kimchi, and smells a lot like a kimchi potato chip I've had before. It was made with potatoes and sweet potatoes, not crispy, and the kimchi tasted like homemade. It's got cheese in the middle, mayo on top and some green Onions and Onions. The two cocktails we ordered were OK. neon sour is sweet and sour and is made with egg whites. tiger buck tastes ginger. We were sitting at the bar, and it was fun to watch the mixers. We were also given two cups of soju, strawberry flavored, thanks for that. But the washrooms didn't work very well, and two of the three washrooms couldn't close.

It’s rare to have some good food over good drinks, but oddseoul can make it happen. It’s my first time using chopsticks while having cocktail. Really love the squash poutine, very delicious! The place has dim light but can be a bit too dark. The music is really great in this place

Odd Seoul is a charming little spot that perfectly encapsulates the hipster vibe of the neighborhood. The small plates they offer are packed with flavour and creativity, making each bite a unique and delightful experience. The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with a laid-back vibe. The staff at Odd Seoul are friendly and welcoming, adding to the overall humble and unpretentious feel of the place. Overall, Odd Seoul is a hidden gem that is definitely worth a visit. They have been around for a decade and maybe stay for couple more decades. Whether you're looking for a casual meal with friends or a fun date night spot, this restaurant has something for you. The food flavors here are big and bold, making for a truly memorable dining experience.

Came in on a random Tuesday night as soon as they opened, and we were lucky to be seated at the table of our choice. The service in here was awesome because everyone was so attentive and checked in just to say hi and not interrupt conversations but in a really friendly way. There was three of us were here, and we decided to share almost everything that we ordered and nothing failed our expectations. My favourite was the bao bun and the Philly cheesesteak. It’s a really small intimate environment and within an hour it was packed with a few bar seats left! Can’t wait to come back and try more of things on the menu.

Oddseoul has been my go-to in Toronto for almost all of the nine years Ive lived here. Favourites include the squash poutine, the bulgogi cheesesteak, the loosey and the wings. I love the atmosphere, the music almost always feels like it was lifted from my playlists and the service has always been great. Its where I bring people when theyre visiting Toronto. Cant recommend it enough.

Food was amazing. Service was not but for the unique food style it was worth it. Most of the items on the menu was a type of Asian fusion between Korean food and American classics. Complete hole in the wall!

August 23, 2024

Food was fine but it was definitely not worth the money or, judging by photos and previous experience, what we were expecting. Portions were far smaller, some of the dishes sloppily made, & some of them entirely different from what they usually serve. Service was robotic and at times rude, and at the end of the meal half of the items on the bill were an extra 1-2 dollars compared to the menu. One can easily find much better Korean food nearby. Don t waste your time just for the hype.

I used to love this restaurant and would tell my friends about how great it is. Instead embarrassed myself by bringing them there had a horrible experience. Waitress was incredibly rude and added an extra 1-2 dollars to everything on the bill which is a complete scam. Paper plates and wooden cutlery (for meat and salad??? Really?). The food did not look how it does in photos online, the salad was a pathetic excuse. The Texas toast was made with wonderbread. The 1lb of wings was definitely not 1lb, etc. The food quality was equal to of Fyre Fest.

Finally tried after many many years. I much prefer their sister restaurant Seoul Shakers. I assume they have great drinks, but this review is only for the food. $18 for 4 small chicken wings was pretty lame. Lacked flavour and I can make them better at home. The bulgogi cheese steak, and Korean Big Mac was decent and filling. Appreciated the quick service and the music was great. Bathrooms floors were filthy.

Hole in the wall bar at the buzzing street of Ossington. Food is cheap. Not at all near the taste of original Korean flavorful food. The pork belly bao and bulgogi cheese steak is more bread than meat. If you want a sandwhich, best to order The Loosey. The korean fried chicken wings doesn t taste Korean, it s not even spicy. Not a fan of the squash poutine. It s a hip place to drink, but maybe best to eat elsewhere. The good thing was our server was attentive and nice.

July 23, 2024

When one of the servers gives you lip after waiting 2+ hours for your food you know this place has gone downhill. The menu was paired down and still lacked the flavour and depth that I can remember from being a previous fan of the restaurant. The cheesesteak and burger are the exact same? The bao bun was soggy but somehow also burnt - as in the bottom was black from the grill. Definitely not worth my money and time, we should have left when we had the chance.

First time there and was excited to try some Korean fusion food. Tried to order the pork belly but was sold out which was okay. Proceeded to order the Japchae, two Bulgogi Cheesesteak, and Kimchi fried rice. Had to ask the waitress about our food and I knew immediately they forgot about it after waiting over 50 minutes. They tried to compensate us with their chicken wings on the house, but there was a hair in it lol. I get the Japchae which I dont know why was so salty, I could usually handle salt but that was way too much and the portion was not what I was expecting I also asked for no mushrooms in mine and there it was on my plate. We get the cheesesteaks about 10 minutes after and those were decent. Waited for the Kimchi fried rice which I figured they forgot because when I mentioned to cancel it they seemed like they didn t even punch it in. Overall, I kept wanting to give them the benefit of the doubt but it kept getting worse and worse. Terrible customer service and food was not great. Don t recommend if you are going in for their foods.

For a place that you have to wait outside in the cold for until theres room, the hype wasnt there. The slaw was heavy and felt pretty much like a salad. The japchae was ok but again felt heavy too and had a very similar taste to the slaw. Of the things we ordered the squash poutine was probably the better of all, but still kind of rich and I couldnt taste any distinct Korean flavours. I also dont remember any cheese curds if it was a poutine. Overall I dont really suggest it for food. The drinks were ok and the vibe was good, but again not good enough to wait outside in a line for in the cold, imo.

I thought the music was fun and it s lively! In terms of the food, it was okay, I definitely would come back if they fixed up the menu or the quality of the food. Also Interesting how there isn t a wait list either, they said it would be a 40 minute wait, I suggested if they could put down my number since it s cold I was going wait in the car then I was told that s not possible because first come first serve. So I ended up having to wait outside the door in the cold just to hold down a spot since there wasn t any space to wait inside, that was ridiculous. It unfortunate I think the business has potential to do better if these minor mistakes were fixed as the ambiance is quite nice!

If youre looking for a trendy place for drinks, look no further, this is the spot. If youre looking for great Korean food, you better eat somewhere else. Oddseoul was a little difficult to find but its a great little bar for some amazing cocktails and a good time. The bar has a really good vibe and great music, the only thing lacking was the food. The food aims to be Korean but misses the mark by far. The Kimchi fried rice was hard and bland, missing the umi punch of the Kimchi and lacked the gochujang that gives kimchi fried its kick. The japchae noodles were 75% vegetables and was missing the heavy sesame oil flavor that japchae is known for. The Korean fried chicken tasted like more BBQ wings than anything remotely Korean. The duck served on fried rice was way too raw on the inside although it was supposed to be served medium rare. The salad was insultingly spicy, loaded with birds eye chilis, something that isnt used in Korean cuisine. Apart from the Korean food, I admit I did enjoy the whole vibe of the place and the service was stellar. I probably would return here for a drink or two with friends but I dont think I would order any food.

We were there for a Friday night. The ambience is a regular small bar type. Service was great but food is mediocre. This is not a food spot by any means. Its okay to hang out for a couple drinks. Menu is small, which is fine. This is what we ordered: Chicken Wings: 4 pieces. very saucy, nothing like Korean Fried chicken. The sauce was too sweet. Presentation wise looks Korean. Kimchi Fried Rice: Small plate, very mediocre. Japchae: Small plate, quite sweet, too saucy. Squash Poutine: It was alright. Drinks were $ 16-$17 a drink for about 2 oz. alcohol. The food is nowhere close to be a Korean fusion. The guys making the food inside are far from a Korean community.

Too soggy, no crunch (Korean Fried chicken basics), and only 4pcs. Zero spice and ketchup sweet. Salad: Alright, got some sour and heat. Tight menu but poor execution, maybe bad day but inconsistency isnt worth a return visit anyway. Takes AMEX. $40-$50pp inc drinks.

This was the worst Korean food experience. They wanna call anything Korean as long as it has one Korean ingredient. Most foods were blend/unseasoned. Do not go if you guys are looking for Korean cuisine. The chef, if they even have one, is clearly not Korean nor undetstands Korean cuisine. The Interior was absolute blend, just like their food, with zero Korean theme. A broken window was just covered with plywood, making the dinner uncomfortable. The servers were great though. They were very welcoming and helpful. They deserved every penny of the tip. Also soju is usually sold at 22-25 dollars, they have it for 30. So do not get soju here.

Came here for dinner and was told the wait would be 15 minutes which turned into 30 minutes, to 45, to an hour. We felt pressured to stay given the inaccurate updates and sunken cost fallacy, and the fact that they dont take down names and numbers for a waitlist and have you physically wait in line. Food wasnt worth the wait at all and wasnt great even if we hadnt waited. - Spicy scallion & avocado slaw - fresh but not much avocado and tasted exactly like the Kewpie sesame dressing - KFC chicken wings - fried well but ridiculously salty and overdressed like they dragged the wing through salty gochujang. sauce was in every crevice of the wing and had to be scraped off to be palatable. - Squash poutine - good flavours of Japanese curry as the gravy and issues real cheese curds but the squash pieces were unevenly cooked, some where hard and crumbly, others were soft - Pork belly bao - overcooked pork belly that was dry and had that cooked-then-refrigerated porky smell. also overdressed and was dripping in salty sauce. - Bulgogi cheesesteak - probably the best of the night, though still average. beefy, cheesey, good bread and a bit greasy. - Cocktails: Tiger Buck and Gat Fire. Both were really good. Overall, the vibe and drinks are great but the food was incredibly disappointing and generally quite sloppy. The misleading wait times made the whole experience off-putting but to give credit to our server, she was very nice and attentive.

Korean Glass noodles were as hard as glass itself The fried rice was fried into outer space, crunchy and hard to eat. Sauce on KFC Chicken wings was disgusting. food was mediocre, service was super mid. went on a tuesday with a group of girls and couldn t even get my own bill?? had to split it with the table. the server said it s not my rules but also i definitely think he was the owner lol. overall, an overhyped toronto spot. spend your money somewhere else.

Vibes were cool, drinks were great. The menu for food is super tiny, and although the chicken wings were good and fresh they were really bland. Kind of an overhyped spot! I d only ever come here for drinks again.

A nice quaint restaurant in a very busy street. The parking situation is definitely a struggle on the weekend, so be aware! The service was excellent! Drinks were served quickly and we were constantly being checked on and made sure that we had everything which we appreciated. The food was quite good and fairly priced. I had the bulgogi cheesesteak sandwich which I thought was delicious. Id definitely recommend this restaurant for a nice take on Korean bar food and a good place to grab drinks.

90s vibe urban vibe...service was really good considering its a small place but helped us out to get seated as soon as they can (took about 20 min)...was worth the wait for the kimchi poutine (I dont know how they kept a quebec style poutine with extra flavors) and the duck fried rice was insane...this place is a GEM

Had dinner at this place. I love their wings, love how it was spicy enough not to over power the sweetness. Kimchi fried fried rice was the best so far. Looking forward to try other dish on their menu. Our server was nice and friendly. Space is a bit small and we were seated near the kitchen.

Been to this bar acoupke of times now. Nice small local bar. Says Korean but I dont really think theres much Korean here. Food was decent but Id still classify it like late nite bar eats section. Bulgugi banh mi was a decent but basic. It literally was a basic banh mi (minus pickled veggies) with some basic Bulgugi. Wings were crispy but drenched in some sauces. Kimchi fried rice was a miss for me, I found it to be really oily. Overall, decent barbut Im not sure if I would be returning for mediocracy. I do recommend to those who have never been to give it a try for yourself.

A pretty mediocre place. The best thing on the menu was the chicken wings and that was just ok. It was spicy but not too interesting, just tasted like gojuchang, maybe with something sweet to caramelize. Kimchi fried rice also so so, japchae was better (but came like near the end of our meal which was weird, should have come with the rest of the food. Service was ok, didnt have enough cups for water. The backyard patio was decent and appreciated.

We couldn t get a table at Cote de Bouef, so ended up here. Very disappointed with the menu. We came here before covid and the menu was more interesting and featured many cool tapas dishes. However this time around the food we ordered all tasted the same - the familiar flavour of Korean bbq sauce that you can easily find in Korean grocery stores the kimchi pieces served as garnish on every single dish was a bit redundant. Perhaps we accidentally ordered the dishes alike flavour wise but maybe the server could ve made some suggestions. Good cocktails and service.

Interesting take on Korean fusion. I highly recommend the Bulgogi chopped cheese and the duck fried rice. As a Korean, I absolutely loved these and the fried rice was sooo flavourful when usually I find at most restaurants , bland. I would skip the wings as they just purely tasted like gochujang and felt like I can make them at home. Keep in mind you ll most likely wait on the weekend ( no resos) but the guy at the front , not sure if he s the manager, was absolutely great, and kept things entertaining.

The food here is incredible! Ordered the kimchi fried rice (rice was a tad undercooked), wings were okay (too sweet for my liking), the must tries are the cheesesteak (my fave), the squash poutine and the loosey. Love the atmosphere here, wish it were a bigger space though. The music is the best, usually a 90s hip hop/r&b kinda vibe. We had to wait 20 minutes for a table on a Friday night at 11:30PM. The server was nice and attentive. I would come back again and again for the cheesesteak (not pictured here)

I m just going to assume the chef was drunk while making our meal because there is no way that our meal was this terrible when the restaurant itself has such a good reputation! Visiting from Vancouver we hit this place up on recommendation from some local friends. This place serves typical pub-styled stuff but with a Korean twist. I ordered this bulgogi beef grilled cheese thing that was incredible. Everything else on the menu looked amazing. Though dimly lit, the establishment was packed with a mostly young to middle aged crowd. I felt at home. Reminds me of Gastown spots here in Vancouver. Our bartender was courteous, quick and knowledgeable. Why did I give this place 5 stars? Because you can tell their chef put a lot of thought and consideration into their menu items. The food is why you should check this place out. Its uniquely fusion. When we visit again, thisll be one of the first places I wanna come back to. I recommend this place to anyone searching for a little bit of uniqueness.

Came here after hearing great things about it and was not disappointed. Though the space is kinda small and loud, the food was the best bar food Ive had with a great vegetarian-friendly selection. The squash poutine was easily my favorite. I would say it tastes even better than regular poutine because of the extra garnishes and kimchi that balances the flavor profile out. The kimchi fried rice was deceptively simple. It was fragrant and delicious, with the subtle flavor of kimchi present in every bite. The steak mixed dish also came with more slices than expected, and was cooked perfectly medium-rare. Overall, the food deserves 5 stars. However, when we came right at 6pm we were turned away. They told us to be back in 20 min but we were turned away again. When we came back at 6:40 the place was already full. I feel like they should have done a better job at managing our spot since we arrived at their advertised opening time, yet could not be seated until much later...

This hole in a wall place is hiding some great food. Theres no sign out front either. The loosey was something I wasnt expecting but really turned out to be amazing. The fried rice I think contains pork as about 10 minutes later I was crazy sick - Im allergic. A 5 star place but they should let their patrons know about potential allergies or whats contained in the food.

One of my old favourites and it hurts me to say that the quality has dropped off since the last time I was here (pre-COVID). I heard that ownership may have changed and this may have regrettably contributed to some of the negative changes. The old reliables such as the cheesesteak and wings are still delicious but the former was not as substantial as before and the wings were not as crispy and the batter fell off the skin almost like it had been sitting there for a while before being tossed in the sauce. The loosey was good and I ve no issues with replacing a bun with a good old fashioned piece of white bread but at least toast it enough so that it s crispy and not soggy all the way through. The scallion and avocado salad was excellent- super flavourful and fresh with enough acidity to cut through the fattiness of the other dishes. The Hakka mushrooms were flavoured well with the Manchurian type sauce but ultimately over seasoned (probably don t need to salt it if you re going to pile on the sauce) and again- had soggy batter that was not at all crispy (what s going on here?!). The steak was substantial in size and very tender but ultimately lacking in flavour and the steamed vegetables on top were quite bland as well. Our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. She was a joy. But you do have to wonder why a place like this is open until 2 am every weekday- seems like a bit of a recipe for burnout for the waitstaff and kitchen staff. Nostalgia and the deliciousness of a couple of old favourites bump this up from a 3 to 4 star but barely. Not sure if I ll be back but maybe if there s nothing else open on Ossington on a Monday.

All the respect for the management and the kitchen but I would never come back! I d say the drinks are good and food as well. I went on Monday night for a drink with a friend. It was his birthday. The bartender was super rude and super disrespectful. We asked about a birthday special and the bartender laughed. First red flag. After the laughter, the same bartender gave 2 shots for the ladies (for free). Fun fact to be honest. Also, he said he cannot divided the bill and just spit in half. We only celebrate birthday a bday once an year, and having to laugh on your face when you expect at least a Happy Bday is frustrating and I wouldn t wish any reader of this comment to feel like my friend told me he felt.

Wow. I used to love this place. I was a regular. Tonight, went in and tried to get a seat on the back patio, excited to eat some food and give business to this great spot. . Waited at the bar for a while, ignored. Finally, was told, extremely rudely by a guy at the bar to leave or to wait between 1-2 hours - which I wouldn t have minded but there were also lots of seats available inside and at the bar that were not offered to us. Anyway, I don t think I ll be back there anytime soon. Super rude. Absolutely crushed. Loved this place, was treated like a piece of garbage for no reason - wasn t even given the chance to ask for drinks and food. So confused - no idea what was going on there that would have warranted such a rude attack to someone hoping to have an amazing experience (like in the past!). Hope that guy gets fired.
