700 Bloor St W, Toronto, ON M6G 1L5, Canada
We are first place of Owl of Minerva. But we are independent restaurant and have NO RELATIONSHIP with other location. This restaurant was sold in 2003 before North York Owl of Minerva started franchise business.
Absolutely fantastic experience! The flavors were authentic, the dishes beautifully presented, and the staff warm and attentive , my favourite was the pork bone soup.
Very high quality food especially for being open so late. The service is exceptional and the food seems very authentic. Definitely one of the best late night spots around since the quality is not at all compromised during the later hours as you might find with other late night restaurants.
Whenever I crave Korean food, this is my go to spot. I usually get kimchi fried rice, with extra eggs, bulgogi meat on it's own, and pork bone soup. Very flavorful, tasty, and spicy. The servers are attentative, quick, and friendly. Relaxing ambiance. There is a large television, showing live performances and music videos, of Korean pop musicians.
Last time, I went here with my mother and aunt in Chinatown. Their Korea specialty food that is my favorite one, is quite tasty. For example, the Pork Bone Soup is the most popular one, because of the perfect flavor and the spice of the soup. Also, the jap-chae is fantastic with egg, been sprout, beef, lettuces. In addition, the food portion is very generous, that one dish is enough for two of me. Most of the time, I need to pack and take it to home. However, the atmosphere is so deserted. There is only one TV shows K-pop music. To be honest, it’s not really good for eating time. I do not want to listen to some songs that I cannot understand the lyrics because the restaurant is not only for Korea. Finally, it’s a great restaurant. A must try!
Delicious food, large servings, exceptionally friendly staff, great value If you order take away from here ask your driver to be nice. While I ate half a dozen drivers came in to pick up food and all were extremely rude to the owner/hostess.
Food was delicious, we ordered sweet & sour chicken, and bulgogi. It’s come with 4 side dishes. The waiter so nice and fast delivered our food
Superb food and service! We got beef bone soup and the bone was bigger than their usual - it was delicious! They were also nice enough to give us tofu on the side. They used to have it in the menu, but not anymore - you can still ask for it if you want.
Visited first time after a concert last Saturday around 12:30am. It was very busy. Open 24 hours authentic Korean restaurant on Bloor & Christie. Street parking was a must. Great customer service. Food served hot and quick. They tasted pretty good. Portion was decent.
Just now ordered short rib soup in uber eats and was really disappointed. Because on a rib didn t have any meat at all.
We ordered delivery with some order deals. They still gave us the order deal but then they didn t give us the side dishes - and rice (which usually go together with the main one). They charge us $27 that dish though. Such an unfair service!
I was thinking about soup for the third time at one in the morning. Go to the nearby owl I ate gamjatang . Honestly, it doesnt taste bad. It was delicious. I seasoned it with all the meat and ate it very well.
Great reasonably priced food.Nice I ate window booth seating.
Truly amazing food and great service. Lin did a great job and brought us delicious house made sauce. Wish we saw this before getting almost food poisoned at another restaurant across the street.
Ive been living in Toronto for over 15 years and go there occasionally, but Ive never seen the pot of gamjatang bubbling away The pot and gamjatang are warm, but not hot...?
Good Korean Restaurant near Toronto Food
I absolutely love this place. The portions are generous, and the food is incredibly flavorful. My favorites are Kimchi Jjigae, Pork Bulgogi, and Gamjatang.
Food is okay, wouldn t say this is a bad choice, but when I went pay at the front even though the guy served me my side dishes, he pretended to take a cheap shot by pretending to mistake me as an uber eats pickup, this was disrespectful and nothing can t be done about it , if the owner is reading this, I understand many of your staff is straight from Korea but please have properly trained and stereotype people, this is not acceptable here Also it s not the real owl of Minerva , check the wording don t get tricked Local Koreans get treated as vip but non Korean speaking the tone of service changes
Japchae here is excellent! The taste is good, topping is full. They re also generous with panchan. I got a full mini container of Kimchi. I tried their soup stew as well. No words to describe My favourite Korean restaurant
I ve been going here for a while and food has always been excellent but the meal me and my friends were served today is absolutely horrendous! Portion sizes have decreased a lot as well. The staff was incredibly nice, but honestly if you have some sort of idea how to cook you could end up making a meal better than what you will probably get served. 3/10 won t recommend.
I always ate Korean food here, so I went to introduce it to my acquaintances this time, but I never felt this bad. They complained about different tables among themselves in Korean and didnt care about us at all. The food was delicious, but the service was the worst. I didnt tip because I wanted to tell you the wrong part. But when they didnt tip me, I ignored them and walked around saying nothing. I will never go back.
To be honest, I discovered this restaurant after a night out at the club when I was starving, and my friends took me there. At first, I thought the food was great just because I was drunk, but I went back later and realized it was just as good sober! Since then, Ive been visiting frequently with my friends. The kimchi fried rice? Oh my god, its amazing a must-try!
Good food and go to after club eats!
worst customer service .
I ordered sweet and sour pork. Although it wasnt long, I also learned how to cook. I received sweet and sour pork fried in a batter that made my molars hurt because the starch concentration wasnt right. Even part of the sweet and sour pork was burnt. Its not a small amount, it really seems like too much.
The server is friendly, but honestly, its expensive and the taste isnt that great... Theres no reason to go other than staying up late.
Really bad experience, I asked for the bathroom and the servers led me out of the restaurant to walk out of the washroom to walk around the street. Bad experience. If you re looking for a good place for a night out this is not the place
Food is horrible and service is horrendous. Don t waste your time here.
Somehow went to the toilet three times after the visit
10/10 experience with this restaurant. Owner is very nice and the food is great
This is a great 24 hour place to attend if you want to eat at a random off time (like 4 am) In comparison to its Spadina counterpart, it provides a new list of foods and a whole different menu. In this restaurant I got the pork bone soup which gave 5 pieces of pork bone and a lot of soup. The side dishes were also really good The place was quite empty early in the morning so if you enjoy that type of environment would highly recommend this place
They don t allow to split the bill today which is stupid.
Food leaves a lot to be desired. Staff very helpful though. Food
no good
one of the best kalbitangs ive had, bulgogi and the banchan were also delicious, open early and good location
The staff are unfriendly. Next time, Ill just have to speak English.
The soju drink is overprice at 23.99/bottle. What the heck
I m not one to give reviews, but I really liked the food and their service. I had stopped over for a late night craving( 3:00am) . I had a beef soup with soft tofu(I like my food spicy and they accommodated my request). They were so nice . I would recommend this place 100%.
I couldnt eat because they didnt give me chopsticks or spoons.
The food is ok but when paying the bill,I gave the money including tip but I didnt receive even just a thank you? Whys that? The restaurant is not busy in Monday and the young girl took the money without saying at least a thank you?its not professional. I wont come back this place
First time going, but it was highly recommended by my friends, who I went with. They got the pork bone soup, and I got the beef bulgogi. The dishes came out quickly, and the portions were generous. The food was very flavourful and the meat was tender. The kimchi was spicy and soooo tasty!! It is on the second floor with slippery looking steps, so its not accessible for some sadly.
Highly recommend this restaurant in Korean town!~ 700 Bloor W. All dishes in the place are amazing !! Ive been eating in Owl over 7yrs, always good taste and fast nice service, thanks guys !!~ Also food are bigger amount than others I think, just wish I could dine-in instead of taking out, free refills for the side dishes if you ever go downtown, you must try their Pork bone soup, Pork Bulgogi, Beef Bulgogi... so many choices Oh, now they take card payment as well Vegetarian options: Ask staffs if they can make it for you cuz most of the time they will ^^ Parking: Public parking lot is all around subway station for 2 mins walking distance Kid-friendliness: Homemade dumpling is the best for my son. Youll fallen in love with it Wheelchair accessibility: Second floor
Absolutely A Must Place To Eat At. PERFECTION!!!!!!!!
Horrible people with horrible attitude works here. If you hate Sikhs people then please put the note that they are not welcome rather than harrassing and giving them horrible attitude
For those late nights where you just need a big bowl of pork bone soup.
Gamjatang is delicious
I ve been a loyal customer for many years. The pork bone soup is one of my favorite dish. BUT, today s pork bone soup tastes different. Meat is old and dry. And it s not as soft as before. I can t separate the bones. Even the potatoes are hard. Please please be consistent with the quality.
Super friendly staff! A must for Pork Bone! Food
Been going here for the past 15 years. Service hasnt changed much. If you go late night dont expect it to be top notch but they are still good. Pork bone soup is the way to go.
Went here with a large group and service was great. We ordered a variety of sharing dishes and I have no complaints. Food was tasty. Korean beer was OK. It was a great time and nice atmosphere. It s not the most spacious restaurant so be prepared to wait or dine with patrons close by
Good service. Food quality and portions were immaculate. Food : 5/5
One of the best Korean food in Koreatown and the service is fast :) I ordered Seafood tofu soup, Bulgogi, and Sweet & Sour Fried Chicken. Food
They only serve domestic beer no imported. The employee wasn t happy I didn t ordered a beer after asking what they had. Had waited 45 minutes for the food. Great food though
The food is delicious, the service is substantial and it is best to go early in the morning in case you get hungry or have a craving since the place is open 24 hours a day.
Yeahhh
Food is great and nice portion size is good. Food is tasty.
Bloor owl #1
Lots of food portions and tasty
Very small and not very clean looking! But my wife loves theyre pork bone soup.
24 hr korean eats
I appreciate the long hours of this restaurant. But, the service and the food are just whatever. The worst is the LA Kalbi beef short ribs - it was full of fat and barely any meat. I dont expect much for after-hours. I wouldnt go back if I dont need to.
My Favourite place to go on a Friday late night or Saturday early morning.
The food is decent. Place gets very loud at times
Best late night spot in Toronto
it s good but they only play one song on repeat which is dun dun dance by oh my girl which is okay but after the 8th time i started losing my mind
Kimchi fried rice is divine
Owl is my go-to place in Koreatown when I want to have some good comfort food. Ive had their bbq and highly recommend it. Their stews are equally tasty and one of the best in the area. Service is always courteous as well. Last time we got amazing bright red kimchi with the side dishes but when we ordered some more the kimchi didnt look or the same or taste as good.
BEWARE OF BUGS IN THEIR FOOD. We found a grasshopper in our kimchi - absolutely disgusting. We called the restaurant and they were useless and said they ll refund our meal but we are 100% reporting them to public health. That s absolutely unacceptable.
Just need space , other than that food is great
They recently renovated, and can seat more people and tables. I only ever order the Pork Bone Soup here. It s all I know. I don t see anything else. Their fresh geotjeori kimchi is my favourite in all of Toronto, maybe ever.
Amazing bibimbap, kimchi and gojuchang sauce. And DO NOT SLEEP on the shrimp tempura it is fabulous. My only complaint is that they do not offer more banchan for bibimbap orders...I only got a small order of kimchi...typically you get japchae, kimchi, braised potatoes and bean sprouts on the side with other Korean restaurants. Not sure if this was just a mistake, however I will not deduct stars as it is not mentioned as included on the menu.
great service and cozy place, food has great portion
The pork bone soup is amazing
Dine in service was terrible. The server brought out a seafood tofu soup instead of the beef to my friend who is allergic to shrimp. She never apologized and acted like it was my friend s fault. Lacking basic customer service and serving skills.
Ive been coming here on and off for over a decade but havent been back since covid until recently because it was late (past 11pm) and I was literally wandering the streets looking for good Asian food that was decently priced and still open. The food here is as amazing as ever. I got the #1 pork bone soup and my friend ordered the bulgogi, and also the french fries just for the heck of it which turned out delicious too. The staff are friendly, the portions are great and the place is open super late. Its officially my favourite Korean comfort food joint.
Amazing service! The nicest people work here.
Generous portions of meat in their pork bone soup
Excellent portion size on the Kamjatang and service was A1.
Delicious food, excellent customer service, very friendly employees, highly recommend for foreign visitors who enjoy a great Korean food. I will definitely return :¬D.
Wonderful, 24 hour Korean comfort food. Everything hot, fresh and flavourful. Very attentive staff and reasonably priced.
Beef bibimbap had a lot of bone shards in it... Lost all my teeth eating.
Terrible experience! We paid over 90 dollars for two semi empty Korean short BBQ ribs take out containers. Unaceptable! Food
I only get the Korean bbq ribs and white rice from here but it s a large order and if instructions are followed it s the best. I like mine cooked well done and sometimes they miss the notes on ubereats. I ve ate here before with my friend that s from Korea and she loves it here. Don t expect a fancy restaurant. It s a little hole in the wall that cooks great food lol
Worst server ive ever seen.
Food was great and staff friendly.
Amazing food at every time of the day, such great hard working staff!
The service is good, the portion of food are valuable. However the taste and texture of the seafood pancake is a bit disappointing.
The food was good, took longer than expected but that was because they are so busy.. people had a 40min wait time to be sorted at a point. We got lucky tho. the food was amazing so was the service. The servers are literally running cause it s so busy. But absolutely loved the place. The kimchi was amazing. Vegetarian options: There are many vegetarian options. I m not particularly vegetarian so can t expand much on it Kid-friendliness: Its a kid friendly environment.. plays K-pop on the screens which is cute..
Clean, delicious third, attentive customer service. Will definitely be back
The place is comfy. Had a nice dinner with friend there. Food
Always good... Thank you.
The food was just okay. The Jajangmyan was lacking in the flavor department, but the sweet pork and kimchi jiggae were pretty decent. The card machine was broken, which made paying for out meal a bit difficult. I would definitely bring plenty of cash if your eating here.
Staff attitude is very bad. We ordered and paid normally but somehow the staff is very attitude. If you dont feel like serving guests, dont open the restaurant next time. Customers spend money to eat not to receive the unpleasant attitude of the staff.
I recently visited this location with my family and the server was so rude and I wish I didn t give her tips. The food is not worth the price so salty and tasteless. I wouldn t recommend this location to anyone. It was not worth spending $300.
I like that it opens early in the morning!
Great korean food best in the city especially for consistency. Their kalbi ribs, pork bone soup beef and pork bulgolgi are always a amazing thing to experience with great portion
If you want to try amazing korean food you should check this place out, really good fried rice, seafood pancake, fried chicken and stew, that comes with yummy side dishes. I usually order for take out because the place is really small and crowded. So i suggest to order for take out!
The pork bone soup!!! So tasty!! I recommend everyone to try their pork bone soup.
My friend and I went to this location yesterday s night. We ordered 3 items ( port bone soup, seafood soup and squid bok-om). Today morning, three of us have not felt good. Three of us had diarrhea until now. We are at work and not feeling well. We are not happy about the meal. Not recommend this restaurant.
I like gamjatang~ Speaking of owls! Its potato stew! If you come to Korean Village, try it. hehe There was no overgrowth. But it tasted good
The food is delicious and the portions are plentiful!! The side dishes are also delicious!! All the staff are very friendly :) I really enjoyed my meal!
Amazing Korean food! I love how you can ask for refills on side dishes. Their bimbimbap is filled to the brim. I m so full as I m typing this aha. But, totally worth it!
The atmosphere was the only good thing. food was mediocre. Food came fast but service from waitress wasnt good.
So goated, I was dying cramming for a math midterm and didnt want to order mcdonalds or something for obvious reasons, so I got some kimchi fried rice from here and it hit different. Amazing.
A family friend of ours, their little boy has Tourette s and it can be overwhelming. Really appreciate how The Owl didn t make it a big deal. They were hospitable, food was amazing and I d recommend to friends and family. Seriously, thank you as it s not always easy on both ends.
If you are looking for a nice place to eat food after a long night of fun around Christie station, The Owl on Bloor is the place you are looking for. Wide selection of Korean dishes from rice, noodle, and soup. Would go again sober. Food : 5/5
They are extremely rude to food delivery drivers
Pork bone soup were a bit plain and disappointing. There was no cabbage or any vegetable in the soup. Service was OK during the busy dinning hours.
Lovely service and food quality especially their pancha
So expensive and not that good, although large quantities of food
The website shows it open at 8am, when I called to place an order, someone answered the phone, and confirmed me that they are open, when I told her I will place an order she dropped the call. I tried to call again, but no one is answering now!
chicken not cooked, had to throw the whole dish away
love it
so rude and disrespectful.
Probably my favorite late night place
Staff are sweet, kind and patient. Food is great, atmosphere is calm and relaxing, definitely will go back again and would 100% recommend friends to go!
Open till after midnight with no signs of a hurry to close, this old but familiar establishment appears to be a local favourite. Packed full on a Tuesday night but with a quick turn around on tables. Service was quick and precise with food rolled out on trolleys every minute as if on clockwork. Got the house favourite which was of course number #01 on the menu: the Pork Bone Soup. It was tasty and worth digging into the bone pieces. Don t be shy to take it apart and suck all the meat and marrow off. The meat falls off the bones buy the way. We also had the chicken bi bim bap on the recommendations of diners on their way out. And THAT was the item de resistance. It was absolutely tasty and the essence of toasted sesame seeds assaulted my senses all night, there were also sides of kimchi, sea weed , sweet potato, fish skin and tap water of course. Fees like an initiation rite into Toronto night life.
Worst experience with this chain ever. I waited quietly for 15min no body acknowledge your existence! They saw you were there, but no one come to help you. Maybe their business was just too good. And they dont care about your feelings, just like they dont care this ONE star rate, which I shouldnve give below Zero
The Owl on Bloor is an authentic spot for a variety of affordable traditional Korean dishes. It appears theyre no longer associated with the other Owls of Minerva as this locations sign is missing the smiling granny! Either way, they serve good pork bone soup (gamjatang) and we come occasionally when were craving the BBQ pork bellies. The Owls BBQ pork bellies are served on a decently-sized platter. The steps are easy to follow: place pork bellies on BBQ pan till sizzling, then place cooked pieces on the lettuce leaves, add salt/sauce, and finally enjoy each fresh bite of the lettuce wrap. The crispy pork belly is simple yet tasty with ideal fat content. Mushrooms and onions added to the BBQ pan are also tasty once grilled with the pork belly fat. Theres typical side dishes to go along for a filling meal.
Always excellent
Nice options for vegetarian meals & nice tasty food Vegetarian options: In comparison to other here we get more varieties of meals
Food is always good here, but the ambiance not so much. Id still go back here though or do take outs.
Always a hit when we go! Everything is super fresh and the portions are generous. Very kid-friendly. Lots of menu options means you can find something tasty, no matter what dietary restrictions you may have. Parking: Paid street parking is available on Bloor and the Green P behind the building. Free parking is easily available on side streets. Kid-friendliness: The kids love the bulgogi and how cool the glass noodles look. The staff is always very friendly and kind to the littles.
The price is the way too high for kimchi pancake. It s average Korean food.
Fun food, will go again.
Best place to eat at 3am after some club
Best place in the city for 24hr korean food
Yukgaejang was really good. It had so much stuff in the soup - very filling. I couldnt finish it all. We also had their original gamjatang (pork bone soup) and it was pretty mild. Im usex to spicier pork bone soup, but its a nice mild version. I dont know if its a Toronto price, but saw that korean liquor (soju prob) was from $23.99 on the menu.
Very nice staff and great good for the price you get!
Service was kinda lacking. No bowls to split soup, only big ramekins.
Always great food and great service. Havent been in years until tonight and I still love it.
Delicious food and friendly staff! Love the tofu soup and side dishes especially. A staple in Korea Town.
Been here on multiple occasions and I can always say that the food is tasty! I love the beef bulgogi. portions are great!
Pork bone soup. Their kimchi is delicious. Same dish for me dozens of times per quarter. Lol
I appreciate that this place is open 24 hours which is convenient and service is pretty prompt. However, I did find their gamjatang (pork bone soup) quite disappointing. While the flavour of the soup was pretty good, the pork bone soup meat was really tough, lean and dry (not fall off the bone) and kinda not the juicy, slightly fatty tender meat you d want to have in your pork bone soup. It was difficult to therefore eat because the meat was so stuck on the bone but also not a pleasant consistency. The meat was so tough that it was even hard to get the meat off with chopsticks, which normally should be easy. I ended up bringing the food home as takeout since I hate to waste food and had to boil on low the pork bones for another hour or two until it reached more of a tender consistency just so I could eat what I had paid for to eat. Just a shame because the flavour was there but the meat was not it. Idk if it s inflation issues or whatnot with them buying lower quality pork bone meat, but they really should get better meat for the pork bone. It doesn t matter if I m a 3am diner or a 6pm diner lol in whatever time, even when super hungry, we still have standards LOL. I would still come to this restaurant again but I d order something else, maybe a meat/rice dish. I had kalbi here before and I recall it was good so I recommend that. Gamjatang here is a major miss, though, for me at least. I personally wouldnt recommend it but hey, if you re reading this far, to each their own. Maybe your gamjatang experience will be better than mines. For your $20 sake, I sure hope so. Lol
Pretty decent late night food option. 7/10
A Korean restaurant near Torontos Christie subway station that serves gamjatang as its main menu.
Its the owl
Ordered spicy bulgogi lim is very kind and responsible ! Good food and nice people . Thank you!!
Can never go wrong with the pork bone the best seller!tried the non spicy pork bulgogi as well which was delish. The place was cramped and Twas packed with customers. I took away stars coz I almost slipped on the tiled stairs going in the restaurant.unfortunately my partner totally slipped and slid down the pavement. I hope they will do something about the stairs so no one will get hurt again
Absolutely delicious
Everything is five stars for this restaurant, especially the food quality. I ordered the 12 seafood tofu soup and 21 chicken bulgogi. Chicken bulgogi was a bit better but both were amazing. Portions are nice
After traveling 30 minutes to get there.. and then 30 minutes back home.. my Kimchi pancake did not come with dipping sauce..
I ordered the rice cake and fish cake, $16.99, a lot of vegetables less rice cake and fish cake. Expensive not worth $16.99
Fair enough
Best place for late night food!
Pork bone soup (meat is tender. The soup way too greasy for me and lack in flavour. Didn t manage to finish
Great little spot, albeit a little steeper in price than I remember it
Ordered pork bone soup take out from here. The flavours of the soup broth and sheer amount of pork they included was amazing! The kimchi side dish included was very good too. They give a lot of rice as well. Overall I m very impressed with the portion and taste. Especially am impressed with the business hours of the place as well.
The best authentic Korean food that I ve tried in Toronto! Everything was so delicious, the bbq ribs LA Kalbi was beyonddd high quality with yummy sauce The pork bone soup was so good too, the pork meat was stewed until melted in the mouth plus I love the side dish of sweet potato so much looking forward to try more!
25$ for Bulgogi with no rice.... you can literally go to yummys, ka chi or next door and have the same meal for half the price and they provide you with rice with your meat...never seen a korean place that doesnt provide 1$ steam rice for 30$ uber deliveries what a joke. Not to mention 1 terrible side of kimchi
I love Korean food and they open super late, I get yo enjoy a late night meal. Makes me so happy.
