Unfussy option for Laotian & Thai cooking including pho & other soups, plus iced tea & coffee.
I was disappointed here, unfortunately. I expected more because of the 4.7 star rating. The decor/vibe was very basic but I thought maybe the food would be lovely and authentic. Unfortunately the red curry I had was very watery and lacking flavour. We shared spring rolls and crispy wontons to start and they were so-so. Okay, but nothing amazing. The server was lovely though, and the music being played was great!
The place is really quaint and cozy. The thai milk tea and pink milk is so tasty. The pad thai was amazimg as well. The tom yum soup comes in a huge bowl so be ready to share. The mango salad and veggie rolls are worth ordering
Craving thai, I came here for a quick lunch. As a vegetarian, I was assured that there are many options that can be made without fish or oyster sauce. I got myself the vegan Pad Thai and the Veg rolls. The rolls were light and were refreshing. The Pad Thai was just delicious. The staff here actually care to get the order right and are very forthcoming with their questions and suggestions. I wiped the plate clean, and the generous portions made it really difficult to stay alert as I got back to work. Definitely worth eating here.
Below average Laotian food. Their curry was quite watery, and it was spicy but the flavour was lacking. My colleagues ordered the same dish, and the arrival time and spice levels were inconsistent between the same order. I thought the combination of broccoli and other greens was unpleasant. Dry rice. However, the servers are quite accommodating.
I have been dining at Lao Thai Restaurant for a couple of years, and it never disappoints! The food is consistently delicious, healthy, and of top-notch quality. Litz and other staff members will always ensure I am comfortable, remembers my preferences, and makes perfect recommendations based on my taste. The dishes are served hot, fresh, and with high-quality meat. It's truly one of the best Thai places in Toronto. Highly recommended!
The food has a huge portion - which is abnormal nowadays when everything is so expensive. See the full plate of fried chicken and full plate of fried rice underneath. And the fried chicken tastes fresh, not like those on the shelf for couple hours. The services are also good.
Great Laotian/Thai restaurant in Liberty village. The fried chicken and green curry were delicious. Most importantly, the owners were so friendly and warm..Will definitely return
Can’t believe I haven’t left this place a review!! BEST food ever and the nicest people who run it! Beware it’s SPICY! And authentic. I am addicted to the souk gai — my go to spicy gingery soup. Perfect for when you feel a little under the weather. Awesome fried rice and pad Thai. And the crab wontons are BOMB! The curries too! Everything here is amazing — I’ve tried all the items so I can say that!
Definitely of my top favourite of all time. I ve been a customer for years and they never disappointed.
If you re coming for Pad Thai and have many experiences in Thai restaurants, the Lao Pad Thai here is not the one you think. Maybe it s their version of Pad Thai. The waiters are kind but kind of busy - I need to walk to them to make orders even though I was the only customer there. The next customer met the same issue when I finished my meal.
Four of us dined here this evening for the first time. The server was very knowledgeable and helpful with the menu with great recommendations. A very busy place with lots of takeout .. a good indication of the quality of food and well worth the wait. Super fresh and tasty! Will definitely visit again!
10/10 would recommend ! I d call ahead just because there s not much seating inside. The food was amazing and the service was even better somehow :)
Nam khao is 10/10
The food was good! But the service was especially nice and the everything is really clean.
The restaurant is small with just a few table, but the food is SPECTACULAR! We ordered Lao Sausage, Papaya Salad, Pad Thai and Thai Milk Tea. Lao Sausage is flavourful and juicy with the crispy outter layer. Just a bit salty for us but it pairs well with the Papaya Salad. The salad is super authentic and unlike any other restaurant. The Pad Thai is amazing!! What we like the most is the milk tea, not too sweet like all others weve tried and the tea taste is pretty dominant. The bill came out at CAD 47, very reasonable. Would definitely recommend
Really friendly staff! I love their sticky rice and laos sausage. I also recommend getting et their crispy rice salad.
This review is way overdue, should have done this earlier. This place is excellent! The quality of the food is fantastic, their quantities are great, the owners there are friendly and welcoming, it s honestly perfect. And! They are serious about their spice - which is wonderful. The green curry my fave, the fried rice a close second and a new one I tried today which was just as good - Kua Lon. I can t wait to try all their dishes.
easily best thai restaurant ive been to! exceptional pho and summer rolls and you could tell the spring rolls and wonton were handmade and tasted great! our server was so nice! i would come here again and again
The souk gai was absolutely amazing and I would make the trip back to Toronto solely for this.
We love this place. Good food, friendly staff. We get takeout so I cant comment on atmosphere but they make phenomenal fried rice and chicken, and the Souk Gai is my go to when Im trying to stave off germs or recover from them.
Wonderful experience at Lao Thai! Been craving Lao food like crazy and everything hit the spot: we got lao sausage + sticky rice, nam khao with som moo, and pad thai. The sausages brought me back to food I grew up on which was everything I had hoped. Service was very friendly. Restaurant is small and cozy. Definitely would love to come back again!
The wonton soup is so good!
Salad rolls are so good. Could eat them every day. So fresh.
Arguably my favourite thai in Toronto. The balance between sweet and spice for me is just right, often finding Thai restaurants serving overly sweet food in this city. I have been to Lao-Thai a handful of times now and never disappointed. The team are lovely too. Definitely worth a visit.
The best food! The Nam kao and Laotian sausage is my go to
Amazed by Chicken Souk Gai soup The Lao pad thai is a must try They have board game on the shelf in case you wanna get rid of your phone while waiting for the food which is a plus for me Food
The folks who work here were super nice to me and the food was very tasty and reasonably priced. Cozy atmosphere as well!
Excellent Food, especially the vegetarian Thai Red Curry !
We got takeout, and it was phenomenal! The Gang Keo was so full of umani that I couldn t stop eating. Spicy but not overpowering, creamy but not too rich. It was the perfect balance. A must have if you stop by. The same goes for the sticky rice. Value for money!!! You will not be disappointed.
Homey family-run spot with great food. The kua pho had a generous amount of vegetables and meat. Noodles were a perfect level of doneness. Sauce was sweet and savoury at the same time. Don t sleep on their chilli oil!!
Fried chicken fried rice is a MUST try, great portion and good pricing. Absolutely delicious, with friendly staff, will be back!
Once of the best! Family run. Intimate space for a casual, delicious meal made with fresh ingredients. Everything we ve tried here has been excellent. Food
I got the chicken red curry and husband got the Lao Pad Thai. We also got Thai Iced Teas and veggie rolls. Everything was DELICIOUS and there was so much we ended up having to take leftovers home. The inside is small, but we went at like 6:30pm on a Tuesday and it was no problem to find a table. If we lived in Toronto we would be regulars.
The food and service here is AMAZING! I had a catering order with Lao Thai for my office of 40 people. She was very helpful with adjustments to my order to add variety and accommodate dietary restrictions. The office was raving over how good the food was, and DO NOT SLEEP on the fried chicken! Would love to order here again.
I really need to come to the Toronto location. I lived out in Winnipeg for years and I used to sit and chat with her son and her while she made food and shed make me a few things off the menu that are less heard of comfort foods for Lao people. Glad to see the business is doing really well.
Food was excellent, service was perfect from faye and i will be back. ~from Tre Food
The Tom Yum goes crazy, and the owners are real nice, grandma s cooking is real good
Overall it s okay. Ordered Lao Pad Thai with beef, was not as flavourful, and the portion was small.
Sooo yum! Spicier than most but unbelievably delicious!!! Thank you so much. Love you guys!
Went today and had lunch ..OMG OMG OMG 5 star is not enough to describe how great the meal was Ordered the Laotian style fried chicken with fried rice, pad Thai and curry chicken Going back to try out everything on their menu .yum !!
Amazing food and service. Went above and beyond for us when we ordered catering.
Absolutely amazing food, I come here often and the red curry (chicken for me) was amazing! Service is good and an absolute must try!
Unfortunately despite the number of great reviews for the Tom Yum soup, the one I received was nearly inedible. It was so incredibly salty that I couldnt eat more than a few bites. Really disappointed. Service was great though and we enjoyed the Pad Thai okay.
This place was recommended to us by a local couple, and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious. Service was very friendly but didnt return after the food was delivered and we couldve used drink refills. I also wanted to order something else but didnt get a chance. Small place with only a few tables, but they filled up quickly and were busy with take out orders. Would come back.
The crab wontons were not bad, but there s green food colouring in the green curry.
Lovely owners and amazing service, delicious food that tastes authentic and so comforting. Everytime im in the area i try to stop by!
The Nam Khao here is one of my favourite dishes in the city right now. Friendly staff, generous portions and they can actually spice things up if that s your jam. Fresh rolls and pad Thai are also delicious. Always enjoyed everything I have ordered from here!
Absolute favourite and best thai restaurant in Toronto. Amazing service and the portion sizes are adequate. The level 5 spice in curries will blow your socks off but doesnt compromise on flavor. Must have
Disappointed with both items I ordered, the chicken spring rolls were bland and dry and the beef laap tasted weird and not good. The server almost didn t pay any attention to the dine in customers. Food
some of the best food in the city! if keith lee ate here, there would be a line up for daysssss. boneless chicken w/ fried rice, sticky beef ribs, lao sausage and green curry are my usually go to s! i eat here at least once a week, sometimes more. that s how amazing the food is!!
A family-owned business with high-quality food. I tried Kua Pho with beef and mild spice (level 1) and it was wonderful! If you want to try Thai food, that is a good place in town. I also tried red curry (Geng Phet) with mile spice (degree 1) and it was very tasty. The most important thing is that the owners are good and friendly people who respects to their customers! Thank you!
Pad Thai is hot and salty, but with a limited flavour profile. I prefer more noticeable flavours of tamarind, sour, and sweet.
If its cold out, if you have a cold, or you just want something delicitous, I dont think you can do better than their Souk Gai and Tom Yum soups. Delicious food and the owners are super kind and lovely humans.
I love their food, and they have a really nice server too!
Was managing a film crew of around 20 people and needed a place to eat during one of our shoot days. Lao Thai was one of the places I stumbled upon during my research and Im glad we get to eat here! Amazing service by Faye and her family. They accommodated our crew in their cozy restaurant and delivered such delicious food. I highly recommend them!
Delightful staff and delicious, flavourful food! We really appreciated that each dish has its own unique flavours. We like it spicy, and the medium heat (3) was perfect. There was a mix-up with our order and the friendly staff quickly fixed the error. We cant pick a favourite dish - they were all good. Lao sausage, vegetable rolls, salad rolls, Lao pad Thai, Geng Phet (red curry), Kua Mee Leung. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options. Vegetarian options: Good vegetarian and vegan options
Insanely good food!!!!!!! We just arrived from travels and was looking for some flavourful and delicious food during our layover and this really blew our mind. Would highly recommend and we already look forward to our next meal here - thank you Faye for your warm hospitality!
One the best and my favorite resturants ever. The food is some of the best Ive had, and the ambience is like home. Truly the best! The authentic Lao Thai cuisine experience that you will recieve without any disappointment from this resturant is something everyone should get at least once in their life. SO GOOD!
I love coming here! The food is amazing. Friendly staff too. :)
Incredible and underrated ! If you re debating whether to eat here - I encourage you to give it a try. You ll be going back for more :)
Amazing quality food and service! Cute spot, and family-run. Highly recommend their salad rolls and their soup dishes. Lits (who welcomed us and took care of our table) has a contagious smile and positive energy and made our dining experience super fun. Would visit again in a heartbeat!
dollar for dollar, best restaurant in toronto. probably still true if you double their prices.
What can I say? This is run by a beautiful family that cares. They have amazing customer service and and the food is absolutely delicious at an amazing price. My favourite is the Cao Peik Sen, papaya salad and fried chicken. When i am not in the area, I order on uber eats.
Small mom and pop establishment that serves Lao and Thai cuisine. The food definitely satisfies the taste buds. They tone down the spice levels but they absolutely accommodate an increase request giving you a truly authentic experience.
I ve had the pleasure to eat at both the Winnipeg location (now closed) and this location on Gladstone. It s a family owned restaurant that has great quality food and customer service. My favourite dishes are the fried crab wontons, khao piek sen and the chicken with fried rice.
I really wanted to love this place as the ratings were high - but honestly it s ok. It was good, just not great. Flavours are very mid and kind of missing a bang - but it was my first time trying this cuisine so I definitely will be back! Grabbed the fresh spring rolls, crispy wontons This place is also small and has tight seating to keep in mind - the servers were so sweet and great! Experience it if you re curious - but it was ok!
Vegetarian options: Lots of vegetarian, pescetarian and a few vegan options Food
My friend didn t tell me about this restaurant because he felt it was so good that he had to refrain from telling too many people about it. Get the Souk Gai, enjoy it; life doesn t get better than this.
Delicious food and great friendly service
The Nam Khao is one of the best things i have ever tasted, you should definitely try it! Had a nice talk with the super-friendly owner. All in all, this was an excellent experience.
Great convenient place to grab a bite. Food came out extremely fast, service was friendly. Overall was satisfying. Stuffed crab wontons were delicious.
Delicious food, amazing service, friendly chefs, what s else to ask for?
Hidden treasure Lao Thai. like to support the local businesses, must try. best veg. Tofu spicy ginger garlic cilantro and spring onion soup. Dine in or take out tried other soups. Red curry coconut chicken . My third visit, tried different things , simply delicious home cooked foods. Very welcoming staff. Must talk to the chef for spic meter. I love hot..****** today April 27,2023 ,the take out was a major disappointment. Tried calling, to give feed back no answer. Chicken fried rice had actually chunck of fried chicken , batter with skin deep fried dripping fat, fried rice also was burnt. Had to throw a dinner for 20 dollars. Chicken coconut curry with rice was ok.
Amazing food, the crispy rice salad was my favourite Their spicy level is a notch higher than other thai places (3 would be a 4 at Chiang Mai or Khao San) Recommended dishes
Such nice vibes in here
The best authentic Thai food I ve tasted in Toronto !! Ordered a chicken red curry with rice and their tofu salad roll. My tastebuds were delighted. The food was soulful if I ever wanna eat Thai food, I ll be going back there for sure!!
Both food and services are excellent! Authentic and delicious !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Authentic Lao dishes. Our new favorite Lao Thai restaurant. Highly recommend.
Refused service 45 mins before closing.
Really disappointed-they say they re open till 10 but arrived at 9:20 and they wouldn t seat us after we walked across the city to get there. Staff not apologetic at all about the situation. 1 star for the misleading info about their hours and lack of customer service.
WOW! TREAT YOURSELF AND COME HERE! I learned about Lao-Thai last week on a food tour led by Aashim of @seed.eat.repeat. It was our first stop on the tour and I was blown away. We had the Nam Khao (spicy, crispy coconut rice) and Souk Gai (spicy, clear, herbal soup) and they were exceptional. So good, in fact, that I went back a week later to order the same thing again as takeout. I haven t had a meal that overwhelmingly tasty in a while. The soup was such a surprise - a flavour blast despite having a clear broth base. The coconut rice was so satisfying. In both cases I got vegetarian versions. Spicy food gives me hiccups (#whiteperson) but it was so worth it for this outrageously delicious meal. Do yourself a favour and make this your next stop in Toronto. Vegetarian options: Incredible vegetarian options!
Im happy. It was the same in my eyes. spicy, yes. but, taste in your mouth. yum. nimbus is happy.
This spot is crazy good. Fresh ingredients, everything was delicious. Staff was super friendly. It was super busy when we got there but the employees were still in a great mood. I will recommend to everyone I know.
I was so hungry I didn t take much photos. Had Nam Kao, Lao sausage with sticky rice and chicken roll. Honestly worth every penny. Fey, hopefully I spell her name correct was super accommodating. I am definitely going back here with a friend. Delicious place. I enjoy every meal. As a Thai/Lao person who had a lot of Lao food I would say this place is authentic. Great menu. Thank you for the service! Vegetarian options: Able to do vegetarian
Amazing, blazingly hot food here. DO NOT order above a level 2 if you cannot handle serious spice. This warning is SPECIFICALLY DIRECTED at white people who think they can and then run headlong into the fresh chilis and spice that are added. Take the servers seriously when they warn you and dont whine when its too spicy for your dumb self. Your whining and crying is off-putting to the rest of the guests. Spice level 0 is still perfectly tasty and has no impact on your masculinity. I get it when Im not feeling the burn! Its fine! Also, wait time can be an issue, so plan accordingly. Vegetarian options: Tofu everywhere
What a great restaurant the service was friendly. The food was made fresh to order and the proportions where generous. This was probably some of the best fried chicken and Fried rice Ive ever had. Will definitely be back the next time Im in town.
Cute little family owned restaurant. Loved every dish we tried. The Kua Lon (vermicelli noodle with chicken) was my favourite. We got it spicy and it definitely did not disappoint. The Nam Kao was a first for me. As someone who does not like coconut, I was surprised at how something I usually associate with Pina Coladas or Bounty can taste so good in savoury form. Definitely a very pronounced coconut flavour but delicious nevertheless. Last was the chicken fried rice which was essentially fried chicken on a bed of fried rice. The chicken was perfectly cooked and tasted great.
My boyfriend and I came here for the first time a couple of weeks ago and were served by a lovely employee. We also got to meet the owner, Lits, she s great and so welcoming! Now, let s talk about the food. I m obsessed with Laotian food, and let me say, this did not disappoint. The flavours were on point, salt and spice levels were done to perfection. Sticky rice was made perfectly, the fried chicken was juicy and so flavourful, the Laotian sausage was the best I ve had, thinking about their curry makes my mouth water, and their Thai tea is so refreshing with a nice sweet element to contrast with the salty flavours of the food. The sauces that accompanied everything were AMAZING! The Jeow Som and Jeow Bong surpassed my expectations; I would come back just for their traditional sauces alone. Thank you for the amazing service, the smiles, the hospitality, and of course the delicious and authentic Laotian eats. Will DEFINITELY be back and will recommend this place to all my friends and family.
One of my go-to takeout spots for a few years now. Some items are better deals than others but its all delicious and consistent.
My favourite restaurant in Toronto! The food, people, and atmosphere is surreal! Vegetarian options: I am vegetarian and was able to eat without feeling restricted of my options. Parking: Parking is near and walking distance from restaurant. Not too busy. Kid-friendliness: Simple dishes for picky eaters! Serve-sizes are customizable. Wheelchair accessibility: Good.
This is the best Thai Ive had. P.S. So many vegan-friendly options. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian and vegan options marked very clearly on the menu.
This is one of my favourite new restaurants I ve recently tried. Small cozy family run restaurant. The Kua pho noodle dish was so delicious I had to get it spicy. Loved everything about the food here. Staff are very lovely and attentive. Looking forward to trying the fried rice next! If you haven t tried this place you definitely missing out. Thank you for a great experience!
Ate the Green Curry, Pad Thai, Lao Sausage, Veggie Rolls, Short Ribs. All very delicious, filling, & well priced. Great Parkdale food spot. 10/10 would recommend
Food was phenomenal as was the service, I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a nice laid back spot for thai/lao food at a very reasonable price.
Had the Gang Keo (green curry) at spice level 3 and it was diviiiiiiine. Unquestionably the best I ve ever had. I love when reviews live up to the reality. Friendly and kind service. Can t wait to try the rest of the menu!
Friendly service and enjoyable food. Their business mostly seems to be take-out but there are four tables for dining in. Ignore the spiciness scale on the menu; 2 is quite spicy and I like spicy food. Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie options. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free is available. Wheelchair accessibility: Theres a ramp outside and an accessible washroom.
We had two soups: Kao Piek Sen (more sweet with delicious chewy noodles) and Souk Gai (salty and spicy). Both were very flavorful. Oh, and the service tonight was amazing: warm, attentive and very helpful. Well definitely come back soon. Food : 5/5
I absolutely love this place and have been going here for years. Lately I ve been trying to taste everything on the menu, but favourites include nam kao, lao-style pad Thai, and the coconut curries!
We waited a long time to be taken care of.
The soup was divine. Love the flavours and the Thai spice. Green curry is so tasty. Red curry is perfect. Its my favorite. The Roco drinks are spectacular. Lychee drink is a beautiful flavor. Love the roasted coconut drink with the chunks of coconut. The Guava drink tastes like eating the actual fruit. Even the after dinner candies taste like youre eating the fruit. The food and drinks at Lao-Thai rocks.
Amazing food and great value for the money! The staff is always super friendly and the restaurant looks cozy!
I dream about the Nam Khao, and the Souk Gai is my favourite thing to eat in Toronto when its cold. So good!!
You are going to get really good food at a great price here. The fried chicken was 10/10 and I d r return just for that. The spice level is crazy. The server would let us order spicy level 3/5, 2 was the max if you liked heat. 2 was even too much for me. I think I ll just get the spice on the side next time.
Fantastic portions, and the best green curry Ive ever tasted!
Liz our waitress was incredible!
Cute take out spot, very flavourful dish, great value for what they serve (much better vs Pai or Khao san road in my opinion)
Everyone is super friendly here, pickup orders are super quick, and Im constantly craving the crispy coconut rice. Highly recommend!
Long overdue review, but here it goes: First of all the customer service here is amazing! We ordered Gang Keo tofu one day and asked for it to be made mild, and accidentally got it made spicy. The manager Liz, who was extremely nice, ended up giving us a complimentary meal! Totally unnecessary but we were really appreciated the kind gesture! The food items here are really tasty! I recommend the Gang Keo and Fried Chicken both delicious! Friends have also said the Chicken fried rice is good! The mango salad is fresh and awesome! I would highly recommend this place and definately going back to try more items! :)
I love their food! Its delicious and they provide great seized portions for such a reasonable price. So far, my favourite items are the chicken and fried rice, shrimp salad rolls, and the chicken wontons. As I try more items on the menu, Im sure this list will grow! Lastly, the staff are super friendly.
They are SOOOO nice and honestly have some of the best soup I have ever tased. Thank you so much for warming my yummy Lao Thai!
I love this place! the food is delicious and the service is excellent!
Used to work in the Liberty Village area, Ritual-ing this place was a thing every week. Fried Chicken Rice is a fan favourite. Curry is also great. Hearty taste and varying levels of spice to warm up a cold winter day. Was at the Toronto FC game and remembered to give this place a visit after the game. Glad its still around and food tastes the same as in March 2020.
if you have not tried this place, do yourself and your mouth a favour and TRY IT, hands down delicious, and the staff is just amazing!
Great local boite with excellent Laotian food - careful, their spicy is VERY spicy! No liquor licence, but dining room is great to eat and run.
This place offers great food that tastes fresh with great service to boot. Hundo percent recommended!
First night in Toronto. This gem of a place was close to the Airbnb we rented. What an absolute treat!! From the extremely warm welcome to the portion sizes, to the quality of the food and the ability to tailor your spice level, everything was perfect. The staff are soooo friendly. 10/10
Tasty but portion was small (not much meat). Very authentic thai food though.
I got the Kua Pho and it was amazingg! They gave so much shrimp and it tasted super fresh. The lady helping us was also so sweet. 10/10 will return for sure
So so good, casual and authentic. My favourite resturant in Toronto so far
Unbelievable food at a fair price. Lovely staff also. My new favourite local place
Nam Kao Salad is really a lettuce wrap. Get it with the fermented sausage! Crunchy rice, filling and refreshing.
I never ever write reviews but I LOVE this restaurant. The owner is so nice and the food is amazing! Big portion size for the price. Highly recommend
The tom yum here is soo good. And the service is amazing. My fave spot in the neighbourhood.
Amazing food for such a good price! Got the fried rice for $7.50 and 4 salad rolls with chicken for $10.50.On top of that the customer service was fantastic. Definitely coming back!
My favourite is the fried chicken with fried rice.
Wow just wow! I had foud memories of Laos curries from travelling there years ago and boy does Lao-Thai not disappoint. Fresh salad rolls, best coconut crispy rice and delicious curries. Go hungry!
Food is tasty, service is friendly. Love how they spice it to suit any preference!
Friendly and efficient service. The food was authentic and delicious
Incredible food at affordable prices. Soups and curries were a highlight!
Oh my god you have to order their nam khao and Lao sausage with sticky rice. They re so good and you won t find them anywhere else in Canada. The Lao sausages are so juicy, spicy and flavourful. The traditional way to eat Lao food is with sticky rice, so be sure to order sticky rice! The sausages go really well with a cold beer! It comes with 3 sausages but I ate one because I couldn t help myself lol I hope they will introduce more authentic Lao food like Lao meatballs, BBQ pork skewers, and duck laab! Will be back to order more Lao sausages!
Really enjoyed the green curry and the service was great. Will be back.
Delicious, affordable, great service!!! Stopped by yesterday to dine in for lunch and got 3 dishes - all delicious and hit the spot. My only warning is that if you cant do spice, dont over estimate your abilities - stick to heat level 1 (or two, which was great for the pad thai!) The left overs were also great later on in the day with beer!
The food is fresh and made to order. We got the salad rolls and a modified Souk Gai. The server and cook were excellent and accommodating to my dietary restrictions (no soy, gluten, and nightshades). We got a giant portion and ended up taking some of the food home. Vegetarian options: Options with tofu Dietary restrictions: The server and cook were kindly able to accommodate my dietary restrictions (no soy, gluten, nightshades)
Best Tom Yum soup. Can t believe how good it is. Winter will be great!
Have been coming to Lao Thai for years and the food is consistently delicious and always served with a smile. Theres no other restaurant like it in the city. Great value for money, unique dishes, flavour bombs, healthy yet comforting. Stand out dishes are the Fried Chicken & Rice, Nam Khao (get the ham), Souk Gai, Tom Yum, Laos Sausage, and their saucy and unique take on Pad Thai. You cant go wrong here. EAT HERE!
Small, unassuming restaurant with great hosts and even better food Wheelchair accessibility: Ground level, no stairs Food : 5/5 |
Papaya salad and sticky rice!
We loved this small family restaurant. The customer service was lovely and the food was hot, fresh, and made to order. We would recommend the homemade Kao Peik Sen soup. The clear broth was perfect for this transition into cooler weather. The kua pho was filling and good enough as a main to share between two people. We like spicy food and picked two chilies as our heat level but would opt for one next time. It was an intense spice.
Flavourful, delicious & perfect amount of spice Definitely recommend if you re craving Lao-Thai food!
I ve probably tried half the menu and everything is so good!!
Good food. Good customer service. Dingy interior. Invest in better seating. Not a fan of low bar stools.
Ive only had their red curry - only because its really good. Great local family owned spot
The nicest people in the world work here The food and drinks are already sooo good but the warmth and kindness from the owners make it even more delicious ;)
Great family run restaurant, ordered a few items on the menu and everything came quickly and very tasty.
Excellent food, outstanding value! Im particularly fond of the Souk Gai (spicy ginger chicken soup) and Nam Kao (salad wrap appetizer)! Feels homemade. Update: have been here about 5 more times since - still great, quite consistent. The Nam Kao is so good...
Really good! Food was delicious and the portions were bigger than my head. Got the fried chicken with fried rice, green curry, and veggie spring rolls and everything was so delicious! Yum!!!
One of the most delicious meals Ive had in awhile. Glad I ordered extra mild. I m almost having an altered experience. But wow this is really good!
Love this spot and that is why I am leaving a great score. But I have disappointed to see the last few times Ive gone, or even walked by that almost no one that works there is wearing a mask. Or I have seen them pull it up when they come up to the front. Please just wear a mask...I cant be the only person who has noticed this and has an issue with it. That being said....this has nothing to do with the food...but it had to be said.
I absolutely adore this place, wish I could give it more stars! The Souk Gai and papaya salad are so flavourful and amazing. Every time I come, it reminds me of my past trips to Laos and Thailand Keep up the great work!
No joke, some of the best fried rice Ive ever had. Ill definitely be going back to try more of their menu.
Lovely people. Awesome food.
best Lao-Thai food i ve ever had in my 20 years of living. the green curry is my favourite thing off their menu but i ve gone through almost the whole menu and without fail have been satisfied. plus everybody there is so nice, it feels like a family
The papaya salad is so authentic, the only place Ive been to that makes it like my family. Be careful of spice level 5!!! They have big portions for their entries as well.
Best Thai food Ive had in the city!! The pad thai and chicken with fried rice are favourites. Although I no longer live in the area, Ill sure be stopping by when Im in the area.
Amazing food and friendly owner. A family business with food!
Delicious and some unique dishes Ive never had before. Spice level is perfect!
Lao-Thai has quickly become our go-to spot for take out. Everything is so delicious! Highly recommend the crispy coconut rice and the red curry.
Best! Massive quantities of food for the price you pay. I can normally get 2 meals out of 1 dish. Also, theyll warn you, and for good reason, do not take their spice levels lightly. Level 5 had me in tears (in a good a way though)
Its a Thai restaurant but dont overlook the chicken fried rice! It comes topped with 3 pieces of huge boneless fried chicken and the actual fried rice is some of the best Ive had, the way they cook it makes it crispy in some parts.
Hands down the most flavourful, authentic, high quality & fresh Thai restaurant in Toronto with the best service. It s a classic mom & pop shop that puts love into every dish. Very healthy portions (rare for this city). Totally underrated! 1. Green curry - delicious 10/10 2. Souk Gai soup - herbs and flavour galore! The kinda soup that grandma makes for you (must try) 3. Nam Kao salad - more of a fried rice. Crunchy and perfect.
The first time I had Lao Thai I had it three times in one week. Favourite dish is the fried chicken and rice - such comfort food for me! Staff is so sweet & friendly.
Got take out for the first time tonight - absolutely will be back! Great Pad Thai and amazing fried chicken rolls. Very friendly staff and great customer service
One of my fav Thai restaurant in Toronto
Currently visiting Toronto and I was craving for some southeast Asian food that reminds me of home. I eat a lot of food that are similar to Thai and Laos food so I was ecstatic when I found this place on google. Decided to try it and the food was good and also very spicy I was a tiny bit disappointed that the papaya salad was plain. I was hoping for a more authentic laos style papaya salad with dark sauce and sweet fishy taste but I guess it was okay. Other than that I had a great meal anyways!
Tasty and fast, and for a good price considering the neighbourhood. The Nam Kao is A-mazing!
I live close to Lao-Thai, been walking by it for the past few years and I am so mad at myself for waiting so long to try it. Today I ordered the crispy rice salad for lunch and it was the most satisfying and delicious meal Ive had in a long time. I am looking forward to eating my way through the entire menu!
Brilliant food and the nicest service 10/10 recommend!!!
One of my fav takeout places to go! The crispy rice dish with lettuce and green curry are really good! The portion sizes are great and the price is good! Super friendly staff as well!
I really like this place! Im especially fond of the Gang Keo (Green Curry) and the Lao Pad Thai. The curry especially is great for cold nights. Theyre also extremely friendly, accommodating and hospitable! Cannot wait to come back.
5/5 service! The food is amazing and everyone is so nice! They always remember my name and order! My go to place for life!
I love the pho!! Such great food here and the front staff is so friendly. Definitely recommend !
I have been going to Loa-Thai for the past 4 years now. They are incredible chefs and they go above and beyond to make sure you are one happy customer. There was a time where I literally had nothing but their Pad thai everyday at lunch for a whole month. I will always come here whenever I am craving thai food!!
Excellent food! Even better hosts! Had the pad Thai, coconut rice, and other dishes..even bubble tea (try Thai ice tea!). Definitely coming back to try more!
The sweetest aroma wonton soup, delicious fried chicken and perfect pad thai. Highly impressed by this family-run restaurant making such satisfying food with graceful and subtle flavours. Excellent!
Food is very good! Great price and portion size. The flavours of their dishes are delicious! Would highly recommend!
Best Thai food in the city.
Ive always had positive experiences - with the food and the service. The food is always delicious and the staff is friendly, professional and they conduct good business. Definitely give it a try if youre in the area - my go-to is the chicken fried rice.
