Bacan opened with the purpose of bringing authentic Argentine and Venezuelan cuisine to Toronto. As a family run restaurant— we want each and every guest to feel welcome in our “home”. For this reason, we provide exemplary service and ensure each item on our menu reflects our commitment to culinary excellence. Between the succulent and flavourful cuts of Argentine Beef in our empanadas and our irresistible gluten-free arepas, our multifaceted menu is a genuine celebration of the versatility in latin cuisine. Our restaurant is a quiet place to connect and create ever-lasting memories while savouring the depth of flavours in our carefully curated menu.
I love South American food, and Bar Bacan is particularly good, delicious and excellent value. I'm currently eating an in-house made Alfajor and it's one of the best I've tried!
Absolutely amazing spot to try authentic Venezuelan and Argentinian Cuisine in Toronto.❤️ They have a cozy and cultural interiors with wide menu to choose from. The servers are professional and hospitality is sweet here. They even have veg, non-veg and vegan options, which is truly amazing. I tried~ 1. Empanadas- Veg 2. Empanadas- Chicken 3. Yuca Fries & Chipotle Mayo 4. Veg Arepas 5. Alfajor Dessert 6. Gin & Tonic 7. Rumba Papelon Definitely coming back here with my besties!🌸❤️
We started with the Tequeños, very tasty dip and soo cheesy 🧀. Then we ordered the Parillada for two and the meat was amazing, medium rare with juicy fat just how we like it. Yuca fries were alright. Attention was really good. Luis and Mari did a great job. The ambience is nice. They even have some beautiful photographs on display. Definitively coming back to try some more.
We come to this surrounding area and picked a restaurant with a cuisine that we have not tried before Argentina and Venezuela food. Patrolled is a meat platter for two persons. It has the Sirloin steak, beef ribs and a meat platter. The beef rib is very tender! Yuca fries are so crispy! The Cachapa has meaty cheese with beef and is also very tasty. The dessert, Allajor, has the filling of Dulce de Leche is not too sweet with tender cookies sandwiched. Excellent service and food!
Gluten-Free Options: Yes, many options. Most Venezuelan breads are gluten free. Cross Contamination: Unsure Halal/ Kosher Options: No Vegan Option: Yes Vegetarian Options: Yes Nut Free Options: Yes Dairy Free: Yes First Impression: A casual restaurant with kind servers. They added some interesting art to spice up the place which is nice. Favourite: The arepa with meat, beans and plantains was great! Critiques: I ordered a cafe con leche. The taste of the coffee did not stand out which left me disappointed. Bonus: They have great platters that give you the option to try a little bit of everything. Take Away: great place to try some Venezuelan food. Follow on tiktok: @eatwithbuns
We went for Summerlicious and their empanadas are A-MA-ZING! The food was great, the price was great and the service was spectacular, 10/10 would DEFINITELY RECOMMEND!
If you’re looking for authentic Latin cuisine focused on Argentinian and Venezuelan dishes, I highly recommend Bacan Bar located in Roncesvalles. The bar is casual, friendly, and a great spot whether you’re planning to hang out with friends or family. The staff is super welcoming and will always make you feel comfortable and well taken care of (a big thank you to Luis, who went above and beyond during our time there!). To start, I have to say the drinks are rich and tasty. The Moscow Mule is the perfect balance of lemony and sweet, a great choice for the summer. The beers are always cold and fresh, and don’t hesitate to ask for good drink pairings to go with your food! Now, let me tell you how amazing the dishes are. From the Arepas to the Costillitas, Yuca Frita, and Tequeños, anything you order will make you feel good and completely satisfied. For veggie lovers, I personally recommend the spinach and cheese empanada, which is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I don’t have words to describe how it melts in your mouth. In sum, Bacan Bar is a must if you’re around the area! Congratulations to the whole team for making this one of my favourite spots in Toronto!
I used to love coming here and having the steak dishes, picanha and parrilada but recently I had two very disappointing experiences where I ordered my steak medium rare, but it arrived super well done. I brought it to the waitress attention, and she responded with a simple apology, saying she would inform the kitchen. She mentioned that she had instructed them to make it medium rare, but nothing more was done to rectify the situation. :( Unfortunately, this really impacted the overall experience for me as the food and service were a big miss.
Delicious! The vegan empanadas are amazing, and best margaritas in town.
Very delicious arepas and empanadas, EXCELLENT service from Jade
Amazing place with delicious cocktails and even more delicious food. Very friendly staff and reasonable prices.
I have been here a few times. The staff is so friendly, and the food is made from scratch. This is one of those rare treasures that is absolutely worth trying if you ever want to taste delicious South American dishes.
Phenomenal
Unfortunately, I just got overcharged for both food and tip.
Very disappointed. After waiting a long time for my order, the empanada arrived cold on the inside, as if it had been baked, frozen, and then reheated. It didn t taste fresh at all. Restaurant it self looks good!
Great food. Simple ambience.
Ive only been there a couple of times, but every time Ive gone, Ive always been warmly treated. The last time I went, the vegan arepas were delicious and filling. Always great attention.
The arepas and yuca fries and alfajores and cocktails were excellent Dietary restrictions: Lots of gluten free options on the menu Food : 5/5 |
Luis was awesome! And the Pabellon Arepas + Yuca fries were killer. Patio was perfect
Delicious empanadas! Nice casual vibe and great service. Food
It was okay, not too great, not too bad
The food is good: portion sizes are good as is the taste. Their service is attentive and friendly. We will definitely return.
My husband and I walked in for an early dinner and really loved it. The service was great - personable and knowledgeable staff who took us through the menu. The empanadas were amazing with crunchy yucca fries. All with a cold beer on the front patio! Recommend!
A very amazing place to be at!! Loved their empanadas and fries Cocktails are lovely too. Very budget friendly!
Great food-empanadas and yuca fries, highly recommended. Lively atmosphere with Latin American music in the background. Family owned.
We went there excited to try the food since the menu looked really good. Sadly the service was incredibly slow, the place was nearly empty and it look almost an hour to get our food. We had to go up at the front to ask for the bill, instead of checking on guests the staff was just chatting amongst themselves.
Last Sunday, I went to enjoy the final day of Summerlicious dinner. I must say, everything was amazing. The staff is really friendly and kind. They helped me decide what to have. And, most important of all, the food is delicious! Im looking forward to returning and try more from the menu.
This place is THE VAINAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! What a rrrrrrrricuraaaaaa! Take paca. 1A customer service from the hand of Luis, the guys in the kitchen make you your sandunga in what they cook, Valentina and Franco very hard in the kitchen. Thanks for the cool moment. 100% recommended!
Had a delicious vegetarian arepa and an empanada. Cute little place, great service. Definitely will be back.
I went during Summerlicious, and although there was a smaller menu, the food we had was simply delicious and it was a pleasure to try something new. Service was excellent.
AMAZING! Incredible food, arepas and empanadas. So filling and delicious. The service was great and Luis was lovely. Absolutely recommend.
Dietary restrictions: The arepas are gluten free! Food
Excellent empanadas, yuca (cassava) fries and cocktails. Warm, friendly service
Great little Venezuelan place. Came during Summerlicious, which is usually rushed service and not great food, but not here! Amazing food and great and unrushed service, which is exactly what we wanted.
Best meal Ive had on my Toronto vacation. Very authentic. Lots of corn-based options for those with gluten allergies or celiac. Great drinks. Sensitive to cross contamination issues. Service is very friendly and informative and everyone in my party of 8 had a great time. Vegetarian options: vegetarian empenadas and arepos Dietary restrictions: gluten, celiac
Wheelchair accessibility: Entry has a ramp and some seating is wheelchair accessible. Washrooms are unfortunately up several stairs and not accessible. Food
Service was good. Seating was good. My Summerlicious lunch was kind of bad: - sweet plaintain and fresco cheese was yummy, although a small app. - yucca fries were crunchy and good. My chicken Arepa had so much avocado that it tasted like a guacamole sandwich with chicken pieces. - doughnuts were alright. Bought a beef empanada to go that was yummy
Service is friendly but food is incredibly overpriced, food is tasty but the portions are mostly corn cake (bread) with very little filling, felt scammed honestly.
Out for an evening with the girls so there was alot of chatting going on. The service reflected respect in allowing us to chat, but made sure we were well looked after. We asked alot of questions before ordering and appreciated the descriptions and recommendations. Ordered a few platters we were able to share. Food is Delicious...! A true neighbourhood gem. We dont live in the area, but will definitely make time for future visits. Highly recommend but then again I dont want it to be to busy that we cant get in...lol Great food and service at a reasonable price.
I dont love leaving bad reviews when its a small place and they treated me nice but I am writing as Im having a bad night after eating there hoping they take the feedback. Went for summerlicious lunch. Food tasted OK but I was thrown aback by the amount of oil the food had. The arepa was dripping so much oil and so did the fries. Even the desert was making oil stains in the bag. I ended up having to go to bed without dinner because of how i felt and so did the people who ate with me. I think they can make the food taste good without that amount of oil.
The pictures on their website looked great, but the food was awful. Don t waste your money. It s not worth it.
Great gluten free menu, good prices, excellent food. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free options on menu and separate fryer Food : 5/5 |
We came in and got an arepa de pabellón, a cachapa with 2 papelones. Arepa was pretty good but cachapa was pretty bad. The cachapa was very untraditionally made with mozzarella cheese instead of queso fresco as advertised in the menu, the arepa mix was bitter and salty unlike a traditional venezuelan cachapa (coming from Venezuelan s). We had one bite of the cachapa and could not continue, we got 2 little alfajores on the house but surprisingly the cachapa was still in my bill pretty disappointed
Food was pretty good, didn t like the donuts, some were cool and one was warm which was the best one. Would have assumed the ingredients were being gathered from a garden because of how long it took but factoring there seemed to be one server and the food was in fact fresh (less the donuts), I would believe it.
Ate here for the first time last night. The arepas were sooo delicious. Highly recommend.
The arepas were excellent and Luis was very friendly and helpful explaining the menu. Thanks! We ll be back!! Food
This place is delicious and authentic! The arepas are on point and the alfajores were the best I ve ever had!
Great food, and amazing service. Authentic Latin American flavours!
The empanadas were the best! Yucca fries with the spicy dip was an excellent compliment to the meal! Wonderful friendly service too! Kid-friendliness: Outdoor front patio was so comfortable for the family
We dropped by for a snack and the beef and chicken empanadas were pure homemade goodness super flavourful and delicious. The Yuca fries with the spicy mayo sauce was the perfect accompaniment. We will be back!
Every single bite was absolutely DIVINE! Its a cute little spot with the warmest staff. My friends and I shared a few items on the incredible flavour-filled menu: YUCA FRIES & CHIPOTLE MAYO, VEGGIE as well as VEGAN AREPA, EMPANADAS (Beef, Chicken & Spinach and Bechamel). We also tried all the in-house sauces with the highlight being the Fresh Chimichurri and MY GOODNESS Im still dreaming about the out of this world Wasacaca (Garlic Mayo)! Highly recommend Bar Bacan!
Got the Arepa combo ($46?) and the homemade lemonade! Service was quick and friendly. Its worthwhile to stop by if you get hungry strolling around the neighborhood.
Your staff should be trained on how to fulfill pre-orders placed through Skip The Dishes and Ubereats. No matter whether pre orders were placed a day in advance or not, all restaurants accept pre orders. It is disappointing and frustrating to see how they cancel a previously placed order just because it arrives at the same time the restaurant opens, or in the case of a pickup order, cancel it because the food will get cold...
Delicious snack and wonderful service from Louis.
What a fantastic little place in Roncy - transports you to a completely different world. And the food is fantastic too!! Especially the Arepas and the Empanadas.
Very authentic ribs! The empanadas and arepas are simply divine!
the service really is the highlight. and that doesn t make the food and drinks any less good. It s just that the service truly feels warm and caring. Very few places like it so far in toronto. I ve only had the arepas so far, but them alone keep me coming back. Little smaller inside, but if you grab a seat, you re in for a good time.
Amazing place the food so good authentic and flavourful. Customer service couldn t be better so friendly and professional at the same time. Highly recommended. Coming back for sure. Cachapas to die for and tequeños!!! Mmm .
Ill start by saying I think is a great spot for a quick bite at the bar (the plantain & beans arepa is fantastic) or a snack for take out (cant go wrong with the empanadas). But this review is specifically for the parrillada which Im sorry to say it just nowhere up to par. This may come across as snobby, but its coming from my own experience having lived in South America for two years. First of all, a traditional proper Argentinian parrillada is ALWAYS charbroiled on a charcoal grill, and at the very least grilled on cast iron over flames. This is the signature of a parrillada dish. At Bar Bacan they simply take the meats, oil them up excessively, and try to cook them in a pan at high heat to replicate the taste and flavour - and it simply pales in comparison. The chorizo was decent, although they use a sweeter chorizo sausage when parrillada usually uses a spicier chorizo. This sweeter chorizo that seems to be the norm in Canada is simply not to my taste after having had the more authentic spicy chorizo while I lived in South America. But the beef ribs and steak were simply not good. Tough, chewy, stale tasting meat that is stored frozen so it really just has that freezer burn kind of taste embedded in every bite. Frankly unacceptable for a restaurant of this calibre, although I suppose this is why they charge $58 for two whereas a proper Argentinian restaurant that grills fresh, never-frozen, high quality meat over charcoal would charge closer to $90. There is no real flavour or marinade to the meat at all - it just tastes like old, stale, freezer burned, chewy, dry, hunks of meat. It is served with Yuca fries and coleslaw which are just okay. The star of the dish is supposed to be the meat and it fails. They also serve the platter for two with an embarrassingly tiny amount of chimichurri sauce and we would have asked for more but the server never came to check on us again until we chased them down to finally let us pay our bill. All in all, I will not dine in at this restaurant ever again. I would safely recommend it as described at the beginning, but save yourself the money - this is Toronto and $58 can take you way, way further than this. My recommendation to the owner/kitchen would be to simply stop serving this dish if youre going to deliver it this poorly.
I promised my wife I would try out Bar Bacan. Well, we ll be coming back soon. I had a beef empanada and a Chori Arepa. The arepa was delicious but the empanada was crazy good. Perfect crust, the filling had so many different flavours. Next time I m just getting too many empanadas. I had a RUMBA PAPELON which was good but a bit sweet for me, if you like sweeter drinks you ll love it. I also had a margarita which was perfect. I can t believe I haven t come here sooner.
Clean atmosphere. Big portion and very cheap. Great customer service. Highly recommended.
The food was delicious, the Cachapa is the best thing Ive tasted in a long time. The place is pretty clean and the vibe is amazing. Luis, our server, gave us an incredible service. Super Recommended
Very good food my favorite was the beef empanadas and luis was very nice and prompt
The food was very delicious, the chimichurri and the meat, well the empanadas were all super delicious! 100% recommendable and the attention of Luis and Julio earns a very good recommendation
Excellent food and service. Luis gives great attention and the food is very good at a good price
Great service and meal - authentic affordable and delicious food
Delicious food, great vegetarian options!
What a delicious and cosy afternoon I just had here. I needed a snack and a coffee and just moved back into the neighbourhood, and was luckily reminded of my love of arepas when walking down the street trying to figure out what to do. SO HAPPY! The arepa was delicious and I had a nice hot coffee and sat doing a few admin things while I waited to get where I needed to go next. Super friendly staff Luis, and I just kept dancing in my chair to the lovely music. Also the numerous pride flags made me feel really comfortable in the space. Thank you Bar Bacan! Vegetarian options: empanadas, and arepas Dietary restrictions: lots of gluten free options, and vegan and vegetarian stuff too
If I could give them 6 or 7 stars, I would. The best Venezuelan food I have had outside of Venezuela. Recommended. Thanks Luis.
Excellent food. Very friendly service. The empanadas are swoon worthy the yuca fries crisp and satisfying. Gather your friends and be prepared for some incredible food!
The empenadas are amazing! TRY this place for authentic Latin American cuisine.
Omg first time here tonight and we felt so welcome and had an amazing meal. It was really well priced and delicious. The cocktails were great, too. Luis took care of us, what an awesome dude. Can t wait to come back.
Went for dinner and drinks with my girlfriend, was a super cozy spot and we had fantastic service from Luis. A couple of delicious cocktails wed never had before and a very generous combo of delicious meats completely made our night! Will visit again when next in the area.
Absolutely fantastic spot, great music, great food, and great people! Luis is amazing! Can t wait to come back!
We tried the cachapas and arepas, they were absolutely delicious. We went with the baby stroller and with our dog and they were very accomodating, great service. Highly recommended!
Luis was great, and the Choriarepa was soooo amazing.
Luis was great! Lovely service and the arepa s were so so good. Definitely coming back!
I came to watch the champions league the match between Madrid and Bayer, a unique and chill atmosphere! Unique food and the service of the bartender Luis is unique, a fabulous experience super recommended!!!
Food service and atmosphere were incredible, cant wait to come back!
Came for delicious food. Will return because of Luis and his excellent customer service.
Food was good and service too. Music was too loud to even hear people on the table..server was not sure about the beers Vegetarian options: Not very many Vegetarian options
Sweet date night spot! Lovely server (shout out Louis!)
Eating at Bar Bacan is like having your favorite home cooked meal, even though you may not be Argentinian! In that way, it feels as good as it tastes! Big shout out to Luis, thanks for sharing!
Such a lovely place with wonderful food! Ive gotten empanadas from here a few times for takeout, and today my partner and I sat in for lunch. We had the Arepa Combo for Two; you get two arepas and two empanadas of your choosing, and a side of yuca fries. Everything was so delicious and it was the perfect amount of food for us. The owner is so kind as well!!
We longed for Venezuelan Creole food and we managed, with very little difference, to treat ourselves to this place.
Wandered in here for a bite and left very happy! Although the place was very busy late on a Sunday afternoon, Luis (our server & possibly one of the owners) could not have been more friendly or helpful. We ordered pabellons, spinach fritters & chicken empanadas. Everything was yummy and very reasonably price. I plan to return & try some of their entrees.
Super great experience at Bacan! Food was fresh, and everything was delicious. The chicken empanadas were easily the best I ve had in the city. Our server, Luis, was friendly and had great recommendations. We will definitely be back!
Luis was a great server and food was delicious. Good prices!
tasty food, good vibes
Okay, Im obsessed The food is so good, so authentic, so tasty and delicious!!!! I was too excited to eat to take a picture of the mains, oops The drinks are so good, freshly mixed, super yummy, and great price. The service has been 10/10 every single time ! Thank you so much ! You guys rock! Vegetarian options: Lots of veggie options, and most of them can be vegan if requested.
Very good service and very delicious arepas
Great food with great staff! Luis was so wonderful and welcoming!! And the food was to die for! Definitely a new go to spot !!
Went here for lunch and the food was really good! The empanadas were crunchy and packed with flavour. The staff were lovely! I ve been craving this since I went and I ll certainly be coming back to try more stuff!
Incredible food!
I have discerning taste when it comes to empanadas and these exceeded all expectations!! Thanks to Luis for the excellent service! Will be back
Excellent food. Lovely place and staff.
The arepas are delicious!!
First time at Bacan and it was a very pleasant experience. Food is amazing, service is great and the ambiance is full Latino. I had the pabellón and chorizo arepas and theyre super tasty. The house dressing is very good too. For drinks I had the venezuelan lemonade with natural cane sugar and is was really good and refreshing.
Love this place. The arepas are filling, big puffy masa like the real deal. Good Latin vibe, super positive and pleasant people working. Good spot for a drink and a snack. I usually sit at the bar or window. Recommend this place !
Our waiter Luis was fantastic. Kind and full of information.
Probably worse cachapas I ever tasted, and arepa was not good. Empanadas:venezuelan were good, argentinean were very good. Not 2 stars because sevice was really good. When we tried to order tequeños waitres warmed us that they were not traditional, they used dough similar to the cachapas (my God) and of course we didnt order them. As venezuelan restarurant no clue they are doing, probably as argentinean may be.
Their arepas are truly out of this world! I get the vegetarian one -- beans, cheese, plantain, with the most delicious sauce. Every time I bring a friend here they freak out. Run, dont walk.
Excellent food and fast service! Big portions and true latin tasty! Highly recommend the bbq pork ribs soooo soft and delicious! I come fom Vancouver looking for latin food besides tacos and Bar Bacan didnt disappoint me. Definitely Im gonna come back next time I visit Toronto Food
Bar Bacan has some of the best empanadas and Arepas you can find. I was pleasantly surprised by how much flavour was packed in everything that we ate. You will always find me back here if Im in the neighbourhood for those Arepas. If you are too, I would highly recommend making your way into Bar Bacan
Luis was great
It was our first time in Bar Bacan and it didn t disappoint. I had the Arepa Pabellon and it has been, by far, the best arepa I ve tried in Toronto. The tequeños were warm and cheesy, and the alfajor was so soft and so tasty! 100% recommended. I ll be back to try more of the delicious things they have in their menu. Their prices are also greattt and Luis was great too!
Great food and very friendly staff! Highly recommend
Empanadas were amazing. Great food, and service. Worth coming back to. Kid-friendliness: Came with niece. Staff was super accommodating and patient Food : 5/5 |
Great atmosphere, kid friendly and super chill. Good food, service and music at the perfect volume. Made my daughter a Shirley temple from scratch :) also ribs were great. Will be back for sure!
Delicious food and atmosphere. Staff was so kind.
Super good restaurant! Luis was our server and was very kind! I would recommend coming here.
Incredible food, lovely staff (thank you Luis), and a really nice place! I come here again and again and recommend it to all my friends who stop by Toronto. Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free options.
Great gluten-free options !
A wonderful place with tasty Venezuelan and Argentinian dishes. Service was very nice and quick and we had to get a take out box cause those yuca fries were too good to leave them behind. Thank you!
We had the Arepas and the Yucca fries and they were amazing! Quick and friendly service as well. Will definitely be back :)
Our first time at Bacan Bar. Amazing staff, super friendly, bilingual, ready to answer questions about the menu, 10 out of 10. Always excited to try new things. Chacapa. Alex had it with chorizo, I paid $4 extra to have it with slow cooked chicken. It literally melts in your mouth. The corn pancake is unique, the perfect amount of sweetness and the melted cheese. To die for. Portions are more on the generous side so couldnt quite finish mine. Delicious leftovers for tomorrow. Elevated street-food kind of vibe. Great ambience and decoration. Pretty laid-back, we didnt need to make a reservation. Unpretentious and cool at the same time Do we recommend it? !!!! Were planning to go back and try everything both at brunch and dinner time.
This is my favourite place! It s unreal!
I order from here a lot and its always great. Just went and sat in the restaurant for the first time tonight and it was even better! Great food 100% of the time, and great service. One of my favourite restaurants in the city. Sorry i didnt take photos it was too good
A must try! Cannot recommend highly enough! Our first time trying Venezuelan/Argentinian cuisine, and we will be dreaming about it until we can return. Our server, Luis went above and beyond. He was friendly, helpful, and really made our night. He happily answered our questions and made recommendations. Brought my husband chimichurri because he said it would go best with the beef empanada he ordered (which it definitely did). And because we were swooning over the food, he even brought us another empanada! The food came quickly. We went at 5:30 on a Sunday in March, and didn t need a reservation. The atmosphere is homey and eclectic. Family friendly. The arepas are to die for. The meat is tender and flavourful, and the arepa itself is soft and buttery. The wasacaca sauce was another hit. Similar to garlic aioli, I was putting it on everything. Our 2 year old was eating it by the spoonful! An absolutely fantastic experience. If we lived in Toronto we would eat here weekly.
Delicious food, great people. We were helped by Luis and Mary. We ordered the arepa, empanadas, alfajor, and yucca fries. Amazing 10/10
Some of the best empanadas in the city
Great little place, we came for their winterlicious menu which was priced amazing (25$ dinner), we had an empanada (one beef, one chicken) and then their house specialty as a main (again one beef and one chicken with beans, rice and plantain) and to finish a cheesecake and doulce de leche dessert. To drink we had the Argentinian wine they have from Mendoza, again a great price for an import. Good portions, great taste, friendly and fun atmosphere and service. Highly recommend this place and we will definitely come back even on the normal non-winterlicious menu because it is well deserved.
The quality of food is not good and the propo main dishes are not well balance. Main dishes are carbs, more carbs, and more carbs filling the space on your plates white rice, kasava fries, and plantain fries. Venezuela and Argentina they both are well known for very good tasty and quality food.
Enjoyed a tasty winterlicious lunch with friends. Place is small but cozy. It was busy and the staff was overwhelmed but they were working hard to keep up.
Friendly service. Delicious food.
The meat platter was fantastic .
Feb 5, 2024: Update based on the exaggerated response from the owner: it was a restaurant. I arrived 15-20 minutes late to an eatery, not to my job! I am being made to feel guilty because I arrived late to a restaurant on a Saturday! And I did not change my order several times, please dont spin things out of context just because you only want 5-star reviews. I initially decided on the chicken empanada and the beef arepa but right then and there after discussing with you, changed it to beef empanada and chicken arepa. You didnt write any of this down. Just mentally noted it and left (the entire discussion took less than a minute, by the way) and then went and mixed it up. And if I found the beef burger greasy and soggy, lol, I have a right to mention it in my review. Bottomline: I ended up paying for poor service, bad food and mixed up orders and I am being patronized on google for arriving late to a restaurant! Feb 3, 2024: I ordered a beef empanada and a chicken arepa. They mixed up my order and brought me the opposite items. The beef burger was greasy and soggy. Beans and liquid literally sloshed out of the bottom of the burger. Then they charged me 18% gratuity citing group rules nonsense.
Amazing food choices!
If youre looking for great Argentinian cuisine, this is the place to go: from atmosphere, to food, to drinks - its simply the best
I ordered the BOGO arepas on ubereats. I was hoping to like it but these were the greasiest, oiliest arepas I ve ever had! Unfortunately I would not recommend them :(
Food was decent, but they messed up our take out order in several ways. A dish was sold out, but they didnt indicate it when we ordered, so we had to substitute when we went to pick it up. They also forgot one of our empanadas.
I love bringing people to try these amazing arepas. I have been in this restaurant so many times and it never disappoints. 1. The food is great, my recommendation is yuca (cassava) fries and stuffed arepas, with alfajores as dessert. 2. The space is so vibrant and the wall decorations are so beautiful. 3. The service is great, theyre so kind. They might be a little understaffed, but theyre still so attentive. Dietary restrictions: They have many gluten free options
Que magnifico restaurante y gentes! Loved the vibe of this place. So welcoming of the bat, with music, Louis and Valentina greeting and hosting us very warmly. Food was delicious esp the yuca fries. Hospitality on point. Will def be returning here for the arepas! 5 estrellas
The empanadas are amazing. I tried three of them and it reminded me of being in Argentina.
Food was soooo tasty and the service was warm as well! We got the Venezuelan chicken empanadas and the Argentinian beef and spinach ones too. All were awesome. Definitely will be back!!
Over the years have ordered and received winter and summerlicious pickups from non accessible restaurants after advising them that Im confined to a wheelchair. This was the first one to categorically refuse that request. They are clearly insensitive and out of tune with the times.
Was terrible from start to finish. We were seated quickly, ok that was good, then left alone for a while. Was the first night of winterlicious. Wasn t crazy busy but all the food came out cold with no flavour. My partner ordered a mojito that also had no flavour. We ate the cold appetizers but could not eat the mains. The arepa was cold then they microwaved it and put more cold cheese on it. We asked for our bill but because my partner is south American she was able to tell her how dissatisfied and disappointed we were. Would never go back
the fresh chimichurri sauce with the empanadas are the best thing to eat for lunch, dinner, quick snack, any time, in addiction they have the best arepas and cachapas in town, totally recommend it!
Great food and service - lovely atmosphere
Good food, good service. Great place! Dietary restrictions: Many Gluten free options
Went for Winterlicious and tried some of the vegetarian options. Was very satisfied with the options and the flavours!
Surprisingly filling food! The portions might look small, but they fill you up! Really tasty chicken cornbread sandwich. The psstery on the empenadas was fantastic! Lots of vegi options as well! Interior decor and lighting could be improved a bit. But the food is what counts!
Very tasty food and super friendly service. Portions are too small though.
We came for the Winterlicious menu. There were a few things on the menu that werent available. But the staff was super friendly - it was just really busy so we didnt get as much attention as we expected. Food was SO GOOD though. Definitely recommend
This place is amazing! I had yuca fries (so good), empanada and arepa. Good portions and the service was great. I strongly recommend the dulce de leche alfajor for dessert. Can t wait to go back there
After touring the Roncy, walked in here somewhere between late lunch and supper (weird, I know!) hungry and craving something different than the usual fare...Trust me, this place does not disappoint! Small, yet the cozy intimate space makes up with their simple ambience and great Latin American music. Servers are attentive and Friendly if you need recommendations on what to order theyre happy to help. Very clean and well maintained washrooms Expect small portions, but food thats quite satisfying and filling. As hungry as I was, I did go a bit overboard with ordering food that was more than enough! They may not have some of the items on the menu, but keep an open mind and options & youll love this place. Tried: an assortment platter of empanadas and arepas, yuca fries (must try!) among other things.. None of which disappointed! Im coming back here again for their drinks & desserts <3 Vegetarian options: Their vegetarian options include ingredients like cheese and plantain
Wow, what an incredible experience! I rarely leave reviews, but I simply had to express my gratitude for the exceptional time my husband and I had here. We shared the arepa combo (2 arepas of choice + 2 empanadas of choice + yuca fries), my husband also got the steak on the side, and it was all absolutely AMAZING - every bite was out of this world. We had the vegetarian arepas which were a 10/10 and the yuca fries were so good! While some reviews mentioned that the service could be slow, we didnt have that experience though I could completely understand if that were the case because the food is prepared fresh so it would be well worth the wait. Overall, the service was outstanding; friendly staff, friendly environment, and the food was of the highest quality. So happy we found this place, we had an absolute blast and will definitely be back. Thank you so much! Vegetarian options: Amazing vegetarian options! They had some vegan options as well.
Place vibes with food served! I loved the Alfajor de Dulce de Leche !! Must visit Recommended dishes
Really great. An adventure in Argentine cuisine. Filling. Satisfying.
What a wonderful adventure! From shared platters to the daily special, that included a glass of Malbec, we had the opportunity to try authentic, flavourful Argentinian and Venezuelan dishes. Very friendly service. Gluten free options. They re happy to explain all menu options and recommend best experience. Cocktails are a great accompaniment. Must try. Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free
cute, wonderful little place with lots of delicious, celiac-friendly eats. a tad understaffed, but the staff and owners were lovely and attentive.
Very good
Delicious food, sweet staff, and lively music. This place was a satisfying experience all around.
Deliciously fresh empanadas bursting with flavour and beautiful presentation. Yes please!
personally not a fan of this type of food, but came with friends and they thoroughly enjoyed everything. very friendly staff and not busy inside. Vegetarian options: there are some vegetarian options and 2 vegan options
Amazing little gem on Roncey. We tend to pop by when were doing a screening at The Revue. The menu is varied, prices are dirt cheap and the food is delicious. Staff are super awesome and always bend over backwards to make sure everyone is happy.
Great spot for Argentinian and Venezuelan street eats. All clearly freshly made in front of you, and a fun atmosphere. The server made great recommendations, and the food was delicious, but we left craving some veggies to balance the meat and cheese. Highly recommend the 2 empanadas of choice + yuca fries which were fantastically flaky, and had great sauce accompaniments.
The food was excellent, some items were not as hot as expected but were good nonetheless. The of Venezuelan and Argentinian cuisine is really fantastic, so everyone has different options. The place wasnt too busy, but the food took a little longer to arrive, room for improvement there, prices were reasonable.
Great food!!
Unprofessional stuff
Among my favourites in the city, Bar Bacan is the perfect spot for an afternoon beer and some tasty treats. In particular, I LOVE their empanadas. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is charming. Perfect for a pit stop if you re passing by the area. 10/10
I really love the empanadas here. They are good take out as well. A nice spot to sit and have a beer by the window, people watching on Roncy.
I didnt know what an arepa was until yesterday, but I would like to eat one every day and for the rest of my life. I went with a group of 6 and the food was all delicious. Service was good. Wheelchair accessibility: Accessibility: the space is not huge, but there was one spot that could fit 3 powerchairs. It might be a good idea to reserve that spot ahead of time if you plan on eating inside. Table height may be too low for some to get under (I had to flip my footplate out of the way, but I was fine). Be advised that there is no restroom on the main floor.
Nice place! The food was great. The attention on point. The washrooms in excellent conditions. A little bit warm inside but it was a sunny day, and they turned on the AC.
Great introduction to Argentinian food. The service was a bit slow considering the restaurant was not full at all. The arepas were definitely the star of the meal. The yuca fries were very crispy and well flavoured. A lot more filling than we thought it would be!
A delicious lunch. We took the King car from downtown to avoid traffic and parking nonsense and put ourselves in the hands of the server as to what to order and had a combination of exquisite dishes. No room for dessert next time!
Great spot. Delicious food. Lots of GF options Dietary restrictions: Gluten free is marked on menu. Lots of GF options Food : 5/5 |
service was lovely and the arepas combo was amazing - partner and i loved it and are planning to be back
Your vegan empanadas are so good! Delicious!
I ve always gotten takeout here and their beef empanadas were exquisite. Recently we dined here for the first time, and I ordered the empanadas and fries combo. Apparently, when you order the combo, you don t get any sauces with it, not even anything to dip your fries in unless you pay $2 for each sauce. I then asked for hot sauce and another sauce for the fries, both servers failed to tell us that they charge $2 for each sauce. All 4 sauces we got totalled up to $8, yet the chipotle sauce was super watery. Would have been nice to tell their customers upfront so they know what to expect as most places will tell you. I ve also noticed that their empanadas are now much smaller in size and is not consistent like before. Patio and atmosphere was nice.
The Arepas are delicious! Tried the yuca fries and the Venezuelan lemonade with sugar cane as well. Great spot for a light meal and a cute patio for the summer (had a puppy so enjoyed sitting outside). Vegetarian options: Have a vegan and gluten free option.
Great food, and the server is friendly.
Excellent Argentine + Venezuelan food, very good service, they speak Spanish, it looks clean and the empanadas are excellent. Simple, pleasant place, well located
So delicious, and not expecting to love the meal this much
The food was amazing. Have been multiple times and it hasnt disappointed. The Arepas are incredible, and so are the Empanadas. The service was wonderful as well. Absolutely love this place
Great food and service!
Great brunch place! Highly recommend!
I had high expectations for this place based on previous reviews but unfortunately it was not up to what I thought. The food was o k. Ordered pabellón arepa, yuca fries and mojito. The arepa was salty, the dough hard, the beans look like they just came out of a can without any special preparation. The problem with the fries was that you can tell they were fried in overcooked oil. Sauce was good. The mojito was more like ice water with a splash of flavour.
Fantastic food! Loved the veggie arepa, yuca fries, and lemonade!
Loved the empanadas, really good food.
Had the arepas & empanadas for 2, so so so good!
Ordered the arepa combo for take out. The pabellon arepa was my fave. The fried plantains in it paired very well with the beef and beans.
I made a large catering order 3 days before for an office lunch and Mina and her team were able to accept our order and deliver delicious food! We ordered a variety of arepas and empanadas as well as yuca fries and alfajores. They also provided sauces that come in mason jars! The garlic mayo sauce was so good. Everything was labeled when delivered and it made serving the food to the team easier. 10/10 recommend for catering! Hope to come dine in one day.
So so delicious
Genuine arepa, meat was great and tasted amazing Servers were friendly and attentive Music was a nice mix and perfect volume for having conversations Food : 5/5
Delicious arepas and empanadas 100% recommended
Wow best plantain, cheese and beans empanadas ever!! Since Margarita
The arepas and empanadas were delicious as well as the friendly staff. Highly recommend stopping in.
Amazing food, and a very reasonable price. Can t wait to go back
Highly recommend the Arepa Combo X 2ppl.
Best Pabellon arepa in town for me! They are always my fav spot to order from when I have arepa cravings.
Fantastic cozy little place to dine in. Great food and service.
Good authentic latinamerican food.
The gluten-free vegetarian empanadas are so delicious!
I really like the food. It was great. They also have vegetarian and vegan options. We had a team event there and were able to try lots of dishes. All of them were delicious. Also it is not a noisy place so you can really hear others.
I got two frozen empanadas and believe it was beef and chicken. They were tasty, especially the beef, but were extremely small, and probably the smallest empanadas I ve ever had in my life. The service was extremely friendly and they went out of their way to assist me.
The empanadas are fantastic.
I had high hopes for this place. The spinach fritters were ok, but a bit bland. The meat platter for 2 had quite a bit of fat and chewy bits. The desserts were the best course. The ambiance is very casual, but the price for a meal for 2 was higher than I expected for what we got.
