I've tried just about every shawarma place I can think of, this place has the best chicken shawarmas by far, they're so good that I brought them home and they were still just as fresh as when they left the restaurant, nothing was soggy, the perfect amount of ingredients, you can tell the sauces and the pita were probably made in house, I ended up getting too shawarmas for the price of one and I ate the second one the following day for lunch and it was still just as fresh I couldn't believe it. This place also has authentic Lebanese dishes and you can tell they take pride in every meal they prepare. The staff is super friendly and you don't have to wait forever for your order. I can't wait to try the other dishes they have. You can dine in or take it to go, this area was missing super tasty and healthy cuisine. Great addition to the area.

I ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich, and it was absolutely delicious—one of the best I’ve had in a long time. It hit all the right notes and brought back nostalgic memories of home. Dare I say, it’s the best shawarma in downtown Toronto! The staff are incredibly welcoming, and the restaurant has a cozy, intimate vibe. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more of their menu. Highly recommended!

Have been waiting for a real authentic Lebanese take out downtown for so long then I found the El Gourmet Express at 820 church street, I took a friend with me and introduced her to the falafel, kibbeh and salad, she absolutely loved it, as I did. Service is excellent food is delicious and the ambiance is awesome. I was so impressed that I am having a family dinner this weekend and have ordered my food from there. I hope everyone reading this would try this awesome place. Thank you El Gourmet. The food was a big hit with all family members

I have been to a lot of lebanese restaurants around- this El Gourmet is different, this is real lebanon. Best shawarma and soujok I have ever eaten. Desserts? OMG, knefeh, try it and u will thank me. 10 stars 🌟

First time trying the new location on Church street Toronto. Absolutely amazing! Staff were very helpful and friendly. I love how they display all the skewers in the front fridge and grill all the meats to order. The chicken shawarma was so flavourful and juicy. Extremely affordable as well! 10/10 Food

This Lebanese restaurant is amazing! The chicken shawarma, soujouk, Knefeh, and hummus are so tasty. Everything is fresh and full of flavor. You should definitely try it!

I arrived at 10:50am, just before their 11am opening and saw the storekeeper who signalled at the 11am sign. At 11am, the storekeeper did not open the door and I had to ask her why in which she mentioned that to wait 10 more minutes. I find this unacceptable because it was raining outside and temperatures were freezing yet I was not even offered to wait inside before they can take my order. That being said, I feel that this is definitely not an establishment I wish to patronize given the unemphathetic attitude of the staff. I cannot comment about the food as I did not try it.
Best Halal place in DT . Top notch shawarma! Started trying out all their menu items. So far its great.
Their garlic sauce was authentic. Chicken and fries inside the sandwich were dry and reheated. They have no options listed for toppings or sauces, for example, tahini sauce and hummus. There is a seating area and couple spots for parking. They import ingredients from elsewhere in order to sell to customers.

This charming Lebanese restaurant has already won me over with its warm hospitality, vibrant atmosphere, and most importantly, its incredibly delicious cuisine. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with a smile and promptly seated. Our server, lilly, was attentive, knowledgeable, and happy to guide us through the menu. Speaking of the menu, oh boy! The variety of traditional Lebanese dishes was impressive, and everything we ordered exceeded our expectations. The falafel was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, served with a side of creamy tahini sauce. The shawarma was tender and flavorful, wrapped in a warm pita with fresh veggies and authentic garlic sauce. But the real showstopper was the mixed grill platter, featuring succulent lamb, beef, and chicken skewers, all perfectly seasoned and grilled to perfection. The accompanying garlic sauce and pickled turnips added an extra layer of flavor and texture. Dessert was a must-try, and the baklava did not disappoint. Flaky phyllo, crunchy pistachios, and a drizzle of honey made for a sweet and satisfying conclusion to our meal. In short, El Gourmet is a fantastic addition to downtowns dining scene. Best authentic lebanese food. It really tastes like home. Quality & tasty sandwiches with good value for the price. Chicken Shawarma is very recommended as for the other sandwishes. Staff are amazing, especially Ali & chef Mohamad. Dont forget to grab a dessert on your way out a Lebanese delicious Baklava will put a big smile on your face. Last time I tried shawarma djej this time taouk both are so good. Lebanese toum . Their knefe is amazing. Their sujok as well. You feel home, they are so nice specially Ali and chef Mohamad. Vegetarian options: Their falafel is good

Very good chicken shawarma. Best I have eaten in Toronto, for around the same price and portion as the UofT campus food trucks. Fattouch salad was fresh and tasty but less delicious for the price. Definitely recommend. Vegetarian options: Salad Dietary restrictions: Halal, vegetarian
