Food was really good. The dance was also nice. Price point is definitely on the higher side. And one of the waitresses told us we had to move because they had another party for the table. Thought we were rushed after paying so much money.
We celebrated our anniversary here, and it was truly unforgettable! The ambiance was enchanting, with an authentic Oriental atmosphere and captivating belly dance performances. We even got the chance to join the dancers on the floor, which made the evening extra special. The food was absolutely delicious, exceeding all our expectations. The service was outstanding—warm, attentive, and thoughtful. To top it off, they surprised us with a lovely anniversary gesture that added a personal and memorable touch to our celebration. It was an incredible evening from start to finish. Highly recommended for anyone looking to create lasting memories!
Fantastic thing happened to us that started in August. It was our anniversary so we decided to go to the Sultan's Tent downtown. Great food, great restaurant. Moroccan cuisine. I really wanted to have their braised ribs and even called ahead to make sure that it was still on the menu. But....when we got there they were out of them. They were apologetic and cordial but we decided to dine elsewhere and left. The next day, I got a call from the manager, Manhat, apologizing and inviting us to come back to enjoy complementary meals! Seriously, he hunted me down to call from the original reservation. Then i had shoulder surgery, physio, time to heal a bit to go out in public, and all that. So it's now 2 months later. What are the odds they'll remember? Well....100%. So we went and were treated like gold. Manhat, the GM, came to introduce himself and chat several times ensuring my braised ribs were good and they were amazing! My husband loved the chicken tagine, and we seated perfectly to see a show of belly dancing that was actually pretty fun to watch. Perfect night. Delicious everything. And what a great restaurant and manager (Manhat), and same great server both times too. What are the odds of that happening at some other place? I'm thinking....low to non-existent. Anyway....if you love Moroccan food like us. Now you know where to go.
The belly dancing spectacle makes up for a really fun and unique experience at an affordable price ($58 dollars which includes a full meal). The staff was genuinely very nice and friendly. I would strongly recommend any of the vegetarian entrees
Except the courteous service and an average show the place has not so great food or decor. We ordered lamb shank and salmon fish from the mains which were good but the stake and barbar chicken was disappointing. The staff is very courteous and professional and did offer a 10pct discount on the total bill to makeup for the two of us who barely touched their food.
I recently came here for a dinner with it friends. The service was top notch. Chris was our server. He was both attentive and knowledgeable and has great recommendations. The food was flavourful and was more than enough to share plates with the others at the table. We had the prefixed menu and there were a great variety of options. If you’re in Toronto it’s worth checking out. I had the Chicken bastile, the shrimp provincial and the crème brûlée.
My husband and I had a great time here. Below are the pros and cons of this place: Pros: 1. Good location 2. Interiors are authentic and well done 3. Servers are very nice 4. Food is good especially the eggplant appetizer, chicken tagine and chocolate orange cake 5. There is a belly dance show included Cons: 1. While the belly dance show was fun, it was short lived. I was expecting 2-3 dancers putting on a show, however, there was only 1 which felt a bit under whelming to get the restaurant buzzing. 2. The drinks can certainly improve
I recently celebrated my husband's birthday here, and it was a wonderful experience. We opted for the pre-fix menu, which included a captivating belly dance performance. The appetizers and desserts were outstanding, and they thoughtfully added a strawberry along with dessert with a candle for his birthday. The lamb shank with mashed potatoes was a standout, incredibly tender and flavorful. The Moroccan mint tea at the end was a perfect finish and a must-try. Exceptional food, great service, and a memorable evening overall. Highly recommend!
We came all the way from Buffalo, NY with high expectations. Sure enough Sultan s tent met all our expectations with top notch service and food. Last night we celebrated my husbands and dad s birthday here, and it was a wonderful experience. We opted for the pre-fix menu, which included a captivating belly dance performance. Those girls were amaaaaaazing. The appetizers and desserts were outstanding, and they thoughtfully added a strawberry along with dessert with a candle for hubby s birthday. We ordered Maftoul, crab cakes, eggplant zaalouk a must try for appetizers. The lamb shank with saffron rice, Saamak (baked salmon and rice) was a standout, incredibly tender and flavorful. Crème brûlée, slice of triple chocolate cake and rice pudding just melt in your mouth. Made to perfections The Moroccan mint tea at the end was a perfect finish and a must-try. Our waiter Bobby was very attentive to details and served us very well. We are very pleased with his service. Belly dancing with interaction was like cherry on top for the entire night. It s a mind blowing unique experience especially going there with our teenage boys lol. The management gave me a belly dancing diploma for dancing with the gorgeous belly dancers thank you so much for it. It meant a lot for me. Cherry on top. Overall, Exceptional food, great service, and a memorable evening. Highly recommend! Parking: Came to find out there is free street parking near and front of the restaurant after 9 pm on the weekends. Not sure about week days.
Excellent service, incredible depth of flavors, and a traditional atmosphere.
Came for here for my birthday and give 3/5 stars. We were very well received and served, the servers and host were friendly and knowledgeable about the dishes the restaurant serves. We enjoyed the belly dancing show and ambiance (the dancer did amazing!) but the food was not as tasty as we were hoping it to be. The soup was watery with not much flavour and the fattoush salad was too citrusy. The main dishes were ok.
Been here a few times and it never disappoints. I organized the work team holiday dinner for our department and everyone was blown away by the atmosphere and food. Roxy was easy to work with in the booking stage and greeted us all warmly upon arrival. Out servers were phenomenal in taking care of our party of 26 and the food is fantastic.
We hosted a ~30 person corporate holiday party here. Food was great, dancing was fun and service was excellent. Drinks were great as well.
Holiday dinner with old friends -- good food (lamb shank!), chill vibe and, hey, belly dancing. Kind of pricey imo but still enjoyed.
Thank you Mahmoun.. you have been absolutely amazing. Great customer service, fun and accommodating. Thank you to your chef for making us some dinner dishes. our lunch with our friends has been an amazing experience. Your recommendation for food and drinks are definitely delicious. Thank you again for a great lunch meal!!
Food and service were both great. We enjoyed the belly dancing too
All the staff are genuinely friendly, warm and welcoming the ambiance was perfect, the food came quickly and was very very delicious. I will return and recommend others. Thank you!! Food
We celebrated our anniversary here and enjoyed our time! We went for the full service menu which included a appetizer, main and dessert. The tagines were amazing but the star of the show was the creme brulee! Most outstanding was the service where our two waiters and the manager extending courtesy and service to us throughout. Its very difficult to find a restaurant with that high level of service in Toronto but these guys really hit it outta the park. Highly recommended!
The food was very delicious and we ordered the lamb chops. The eggplant dip was to die for. Customer service was excellent. I will definitely be visiting again. Thank you
Amazing food, excellent service and a great night out! I had the lamb tajine, incredible.
Delicious food, amazing staff and great atmosphere.
One of those places you remember for a while, great atmosphere and friendly staff
This is not authentic Moroccan food.
Great atmosphere but expected more in terms of food.
I recently visited Sultan s Tent, hoping for a nostalgic experience, but was sorely disappointed. The place looks exactly the same as it did when I first visited back in 2008, way too outdated, tired, and in desperate need of a refresh. The decor is stuck in the past, and it s clear no effort has been made to modernize or improve the ambiance. As for the food, its a complete letdown. Sultan s Tent claims to offer Middle Eastern or Moroccan cuisine, but the dishes are far from authentic. What they serve is a bland, flavorless mix that doesn t even come close to the rich flavors and spices youd expect from the region. It feels like theyre relying on a reputation that no longer holds up, with so many new and exciting options in Toronto and the GTA!
A hidden gem in the busy downtown core.. amazing food, stunning service.... A must visit if you are out and about
Good food,Good entertainment!Good Service.
Omg the worst food and i heard so much about the atmosphere it was just horrible
Service was incredible, food was a bit salty and the seats quite low. However you feel like you are on the middle east and the belly dancing was fun. Makes for a fun night out
Food and ambience was nice! The show could have been better but overall it was a great experience to celebrate an event.
Last night was a truly excellent and unique experience at the Sultans tent. My partner and I enjoyed a fantastic dinner and belly dancing show. It was a special occasion for us; despite having no plans and stumbling across the place, we were welcomed right in an encouraged to join the show. The atmosphere was beautiful, show was great and the food was outstanding. I have food allergies (and a vegan, i know) and there were delicious options for me (which is rare to find). Huge selection of spectacular cocktails and mocktails for everyone. Very special thanks to Abigale, who gave outstanding service, to us (and all the guests in our tent) - she made a lasting beautiful memory on a special day. Highly recommend trying it out!
Everything about it was an ok experience. The only reason I gave it 3 stars for atmosphere was because we went on a night that wasnt busy. Had we gone on a Friday, that would have been the ultimate experience with multiple dancers instead of 1. Food was tasty and dessert was disappointing. I needed something so I had to walk to the front podium to find my server. I think he forgot he had a table and was busy texting on his phone and talking to the hostess. I could tell the baklava was microwaved and that was a HUGE disappointment, HUGE! it was store bought from the looks of it and hot in some places and cold in others. Parking: Its downtown parking. Take uber if possible.
had a great time
Better to dine in on the weekdays. Harira soup must try!
The food was fantastic, atmosphere and entertainment was great, service was second to none.
I don t know why there are negative reviews on here - this place was a lovely experience! The staff was extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. The food was great. The belly dancing show was super fun and interactive. What a great place for a birthday or anniversary event. We loved our Saturday night here. Would definitely recommend, especially to people visiting Toronto who want to do something different for dinner! Thanks for a great night.
Came here on a Saturday night with a girlfriend. The waitstaff were incredibly friendly and gave fantastic recommendations. The vibes were amazing, decor on point, and food delicious. We had such a fun time and even got to get up and danced during the belly dancing performance. 10/10 would recommend.
Went there to have a dinner on Sunday, arrived by 8:30 and they had a nice belly dance show unfortunately it was at the end and we didn t know this, the dancer is nice, the food is good the offer was 58$ per person for either (starter + main) or (desert + main)
Wonderful experience. Food was abundant and delicious. Belly Dancer was beautiful and engaging. Service was attentive. Great value. Definitely recommended.
The place has nice ambience and the service was quite good. However the quality and quantity of food was quite disappointing. Would we go again, most likely not!
Very average for the price point considered.
The service was very warm and welcoming. The staff is very kind and social. We found ourselves entering numerous entertaining conversations with them. The food aswell was pretty good! Highlights would have to be the chicken bastilla and the Royal seafood tajine. Not to say that the rest was bad in any way but these two in particular stood out. We finished off our stay with a good moroccan tea and some deliciously sweet baklava glazed with honey. The ambience wasnt anything too special however still rather enjoyable with the music playing. The setting was very well done and reminiscent of traditionnal moroccan housing. All in all a good 4,5 out of 5. Would recommend!
All the food we had was great. Our favorites were the maftoul, braised short rib and braised lamb. Our server was also very helpful.
Dined at the cafe area (Cafe Moroc) which is more casual and quiet. Tried Hummus which was delicious. Mocktail mango mule was great and they happily customized it for me. For the mains tried their vegetarian Tajine. It was really delicious, the saffron rice was very flavourful ! Portion sizer were generous too. Ate Baklava in dessert and it was great too. The service was top notch. Will definitely visit again, probably the tent area next time. Thank you for a 10/10 dining experience. Vegetarian options: Tajine is a must try vegetarian option.
Came to try out authentic tagine after failing miserably making it at home. Had the 3 course prefix. You have lots of options to choose from. I personally recommend the Maftoul, Bastilla, Braised Shortribs, and any of the Tagine. The belly dancer will put on a show for your video, and many other guests had joined dancing together. Our server was very nice, very helpful explaining the menu. Overall, great food, atmosphere and service. Portion size is big, the three of us left feeling well fed and happy.
What an amazing experience! The atmosphere in the Sultan s Tent is fabulous! We sat in the tented area to watch the belly dancing show. The ladies did such an amazing job! The wait staff was very attentive to everyone in our section. The food was good. A great place for a special dinner or event!
Amazing experience!! Best lamb I ve ever had and the service was excellent! Would recommend staying for the show!
Love!
we were looking for a new place to try out and Moroccan food sounded good so we decided to try it out. overall good food and nice ambiance but it was more moroccan-inspired versus moroccan food. we started off with the hummus with cake with fried, homemade bread; the hummus was decent and the bread really good. we then got the veggie tangine, the seafood tangine and the braise lamb shanks. my friend wanted the lamb tangine but that was not available and having that information prior would ve been helpful. the food, flavor and portion size of each dish was really good. the couscous on both of the tangine absorbed the flavors well and the lamb shank was cooked nicely. overall good moroccan-inspired food in a nice ambiance with good customer service
Always wanted to try this place and was so glad I did!! The food was tasty and decent portions, Loved the atmosphere- very cozy tent seating with beautiful cushions. And the cherry on top is the beautiful belly dancers and the music! Would recommend to anyone that wants a more unique dining experience.
Good food and nice experience late at night.
went for the vibe and came home more than satisfied! Communication was very easy and the staff showed us so much hospitality! They gave us a free crème brûlée after we bought 3 more overall would recommend for the experience.
Went to sultan s tent this evening with my husband and a friend. We had an absolutely amazing evening. The food was delicious! The only reason I have 4 stars for food is because it was summerlicious and I thought we could still also order from main menu. The belly dancers were beautiful. Our server Ronnie was excellent. Went above and beyond for us. Thank you for a fabulous night and I will absolutely recommend this place to my family and friends.
What a great night. Great food, great service and awesome food. Want to experience a great night come here
Great atmosphere and service. The Maftoul was delicious, best part of the meal. I recommend going for their summer promotion with a couple friends or even a date night.
Came here with a friend and we enjoyed the food, service and belly dancing show but the atmosphere lacked. We ordered from the three course Summerlicious menu: app: watermelon salad, hummus & eggplant entree: lamb & couscous, shrimp & rice dessert: crème brûlée, baklava The food was very tasty although the lamb dish is smaller in portion size and has small lamb pieces compared to the usual bone-in lamb weve had before. Service was great and our server Dominic was funny and attentive. The drinks were also good with a generous 2oz. The only downside was they seated a family with four kids besides our table a few minutes before the show began and when we were in the midst of eating our entrées. The kids were between the ages of 9-12 and were very noisy and ruined the dining experience. The parents were oblivious to how loud the kids were who clearly have not been taught how to behave in public especially when others are also paying for a nice dinner experience. Since other tables in the area were taken and we were mid-way through eating our meal, we had no choice but to sit there if we wanted to watch the show. We had previously missed the belly dancing show and so wanted to see it this time. I think the restaurant should rethink allowing children on days when they have the show as the table are quite close and the kids were also disruptive during parts of the show with their incessant giggling. It was also a bit warm, not sure if the AC was set at an appropriate temperature given that the restaurant had many people. Wheelchair accessibility: Not wheelchair accessible as have to climb a couple of stairs to enter at the entrance.
If you are Moroccan youd know this is not close to Moroccan food. Tagine with rice in the bottom is shameful, I didnt like it at all. I was expecting more, food wise, as its pricey. The ambiance and service were god, thats why I gave 3 stars. If you want the food, thats not the place, if you want nice vibes, its certainly is.
What an amazing evening from start to finish!! The menu was thoroughly explained, with honest recommendations. Dominic made the experience that much better with their hospitality and attentiveness. Would recommend the lamb for sure!
The reason I m giving 2 stars is because I feel sorry to see this being called a Moroccan cuisine. The service was very good and the belly dancers show too. But please, I m Moroccan and nothing in the menu is Moroccan. Serving tajine with couscous or rice is like serving spaghetti on a pizza. Zaalouk without eggplant is not Zaalouk. Moroccan tea without mint is not Moroccan tea. You re giving a wrong idea about the Moroccan cuisine unfortunately so I highly suggest you revisit the composition of your menu ! Thank you
Food here is really not good, and the service is ridiculously slow even when the restaurant is near empty. Imagine waiting an hour for a rack of lamb and then it being the worst you ve ever had? I don t think the lamb even had salt and pepper. Nice middle eastern restaurants serve fresh or warm bread/pita, here it s cracker like cold pita. Eggplant dip was weirdly cold, like straight out of the fridge? Disappointing experience, Save your time and money. The decor is pretty (but that s the only pro here for a la carte experience).
Okay I have to say I never been there because I dont understand how a North African restaurant cannot offer the simple but traditional meal like couscous au MERGUEZ - COUSCOUS ROYAL Khobz (Moroccan Bread) How come they offer something call Shrimp Provencal not very Marocain. The only thing I miss from Montreal after 24 years in Toronto it is North African restaurant and real artisanal baguette bakery find in each neighborhood
Omg! What an amazing experience! The food was amazing . So delicious! Reminds me of the flavours of Morocco! 100% authentic cuisine. Tajine is a must try and the Tapas (4 appetizers of your choice was sufficient to fill us all! The staff is so welcoming and caring. I cannot say enough about the wonderful service each and everybody offered! Our server Mahmood was so nice and made the whole dining experience amazing! Our drinks server (the lady- sorry we forgot your name) was so amazing! She suggested us the amazing Mango mule drink! Even the owner of the restaurant came and interacted with us and other guests! Thank you the amazing experience! We will definitely come back again! You guys were awesome and the food was made in heaven!
I recently celebrated my wifes birthday at this fantastic restaurant and had an unforgettable experience. The staff was incredibly welcoming and friendly, making us feel right at home from the moment we walked in. The food was superb, with the Chicken Bastilla being an absolute standout dont miss out on trying it! The atmosphere was amazing, transporting us to a piece of Morocco right in downtown Toronto. Highly recommend this place for a memorable dining experience!
Incredible experience with Moroccan cuisine and great service.
The food was not appetizing at all and the menu though limited had sufficient variety. The decor was fun and appealing, the colorful lights should have been on all the time to accent the decor and turned higher when the dancer came out. Service was excellent. Would I come back again? No, mainly because the food should have tasted much better at that price point.
The whole experience fell a bit flat. Their apps were nice. We had hummus and fatoush salad, which were both good. But the entrees left much to be desired. My partner wasn t able to finish his salmon dish. He left it untouched after a couple bites. And the penne was very oily and greasy. I understand that these aren t dishes you would typically order at a Moroccan restaurant, but if you have them on the menu then they should be up to par. Their crème brûlée was nice and the baklava was just alright. It was a Friday night but it was very quiet and the belly dancing was a nice touch but not worth having to pay $68/pp (not including drinks, ofc) because of the show . I think with a better chef and spruced up menu, this place will really shine because its ambience and theme is really quite lovely and the staff are professional and kind.
Nice restaurant, great ambiance with the seating and the belly dancing shows. Service is always great and staff is attentive and informative. Food is good but the starters are better than the mains. More middle eastern than Moroccan which does detract from the theme of the restaurant. Overall I d recommend for a meal with a little show
This was my first time trying Moroccan food and I was impressed. We picked the $68 per person experience in the Sultans tent. I would definitely recommend it as a one time visit. The staff here were very warm and friendly, including the hostess, the waiter and the servers. The waiter did a good job with explaining how the menu works and also made some recommendations to us.The belly dancer put on a good performance. We got the hummus and coconut shrimp for starters both were delicious. For entree we got the braised lamb shank with couscous which was really good and the Berber chicken with fries, which was okay, a bit underwhelming. The portion size was good on this. For dessert we got the creme Brule and the chocolate cake. The creme Brule was soft creamy and delicious, the chocolate cake was quite dry. For drinks, we ordered the Sultans Mule which was really tasty! I would recommend this place for the experience and the service. The restaurant is on the pricier side, so beware of that, maybe save this spot for a special occasion.
10/10 Experience Everything is halal and delicious, not too spicy either. Food
Coupling engaging interactive entertainment with an outstanding culinary experience, Sultan s Tent left my partner and I very pleased to have spent our Valentine s dinner here!
Went to Cafe for dinner with a friend...excellent location...food was amazing, the drinks were really good and the service was excellent. Recommend.
We had an unforgettable evening at Sultans Tent for my husbands birthday. The three-course meal was amazing, and the belly dancers performance was mesmerizing. The staffs thoughtful touch of adding a candle to the dessert and singing for him made his day extra special. We absolutely loved it!
Amazing service and food. Talented dancers. Definitely will be returning!
Been living in the city for 20 years and finally checked out Sultans tent. Very different from our typical night out, but a Solid experience for a Monday night nonetheless. The back tent area is where we sat for dinner, we enjoyed a 3 course meal (delicious flavours and spices, portions are large and hearty) and a belly dancing show. Fun time especially with a larger group or a birthday celebration.
Ive been to this Moroccan restaurant several times and its always a fantastic experience. The service is top-notch, the food is fresh and delicious, and the atmosphere is great. I recently reserved it for a birthday party and the staff surprised us with something special, which made the celebration even more memorable. Highly recommend!
If youre looking for authentic and great food with an amazing experience, look no further. Everything that came to our table (and neighbouring tables too!) Smelled so good, I ould hardly wait to taste it. Our servers were friendly, engaging and attentive, and the belly dancers were really good. Ten thumbs up! Dietary restrictions: Two at our table were allergic to nuts, and they were very good in providing details of limitations, and telling us that dishing we were considering werent good for us.
I would highly recommend. The food and atmosphere was great and the service was fantastic! The show itself is a fun touch to the dinner date experience.
A Unique Experience at The Sultans Tent The Sultans Tent enchants with its intense, yet tasteful Middle Eastern decor. Not typically a fan of beef or lamb, I found the short rib beef exceptionally delicious, as were all the dishes we tried. The belly dance performance added a captivating touch to a memorable dining experience. Highly recommended!
The Sultant s Tent is by far one of my favourite restaurants in the city! From the savoury delicious flavours, to the Moroccan-inspired hospitality, to the lively entertainment, to the mesmerizing decor, Sultant s Tent nails it every time, and has become my main spot to reunite with friends and family. The management and staff is top notch! They will go above and beyond to create a memorable experience for all my guests. See you very soon!
Totally recommend, the food its awesome, the service is great and the belly dance show is a plus.
Not disappointed by my first visit at the Sultan s Tent, quite surprised actually. The location is nice, and so different from any other restaurants in the city. Food was great, I recommend trying the tapas which allows you to try different appetizers. Unfortunately they only have one vegetarian main which was really tasty but I wish they had more options (they have several veggie appetizers though).
We had a private event here in April 2024 for 100 people and it was a hit! Everyone loved the space, atmosphere and food. Roxy and team provided the most personalized service to us and each of our guests the service during lunch was attentive and friendly. We were able to customize the menu, cocktails and hors doeuvres, and that attention to detail paid off: everyone loved the food. From day one of our planning, our experience was characterized by patience and kindness. Roxy was open to the very specific requirements for our function, which comprised a million unique details. Because she is a great listener and problem solver, our vision became a reality. It was a signifcant event in our lives, and Roxy and The Sultans Tent team made it so special. Dietary restrictions: The venue worked with us to ensure every dietary need was accommodated. Vegetarian and vegan options were highlighted, and any dish that used nuts was noted for our guests with allergies. The servers were knowledgeable about the ingredients of each dish and attended to each guest personally and accurately. The dessert selection was customized to meet our needs. Great service!
My husband and I brought our wedding party after we got married. 10 years have passed and we re back! It is STILL beautiful with incredible wait staff - THANKS CHRIS! You re the best and most awesome waiter EVER - and fantastic food (OMG, the food!). We re wondering why we waited so long to come back. This was the best anniversary EVER thanks to Sultan s Tent. You ve all left us with another great memory that will last forever. I almost forgot the belly dancers; the icing on our wedding cake. Thanks for the treat.
We had dinner and watched the belly dancing show. The food is excellent, good selection of middle eastern food, the lamb shank is excellent, lots of appetizers. This restaurant is unique, highly recommend. Parking: Green P close by and street parking available.
This place was super fun, great atmosphere, and the belly dancer show added a whole level of cool factor to the experience. Food was tasty and a good variety of options. Our waiter was super personable and helpful. Just be warned, the belly dancer will try to get you to dance with her
The food was super mid, nothing special and super overpriced, will never go back
I recommend the shrimp in coconut sauce. I liked the food, the wine, the atmosphere, the dancing, the only thing I don t like is the light... the photos don t turn out very nice
Weve travelled and dined around the world. The food, ambience and incredbly friendly staff make everything enjoyable about the restaurant. Try the rack of LAMB, it was delicious and portion sizes are very generous. Each and every staff stopped by our table to talk with us, take care of us and make suggestions. They even remembered us coming back after our theatre presentation. A beautiful experience all around. PS they focus on all the details.....impressive. thanks to Abigail, Domique and Rudy you made our visits incredible!
Great ambience & quality food
Impressive venue and decor with prime location on Front Street East. Definitely elegant vibe from the moment you enter. A la cart menu option in the front of the restaurant and prix fix menu at the back that includes belly dancing show. Not the cheapest but offers authentic dining experience. Staff is friendly and attentive, although I was not impressed with servers opinion on what to order (there is a difference between making recommendations and shaming some items on the menu that you happen to want to order). Food was mediocre. Most appetizers were delicious. Main was underwhelmed with option of couscous or saffron rice and some dishes lack authentic spices. Dessert was amazing. Some veggie options.
Authentic food, amazing vibe
Had an amazing time on Valentine s Day!
Love the vibe, music and service. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and helpful with recommendations. Dietary restrictions: There were plenty of gluten-free and vegetarian options available.
Delicious food. Excellent service. Nice tea and belly dancers. Not expensive.
Its design takes you to one thousand and one nights tale, amazing staff, and delicious food. we tried maftoul, coconut shrimp and eggplant appetizer, and beef stew, lamb shank and ribs as main all were very good
Delicious Moroccan food, an incredibly talented and engaging floor show (overcome your inhibitions and get up and dance when youre invited!), and staff that is there to please, and youll have a night to remember!
We opted to celebrate with our son and his wife at The Sultans Tent and Cafe Moroc, aiming to explore a restaurant we hadnt yet experienced but had heard positive reviews about. The service proved outstanding, with our server promptly initiating our drink orders and acquainting us with the menu. We indulged in a selection of appetizers, including the delectable Chicken Bastilla and Tarifa Coconut Shrimp. Each of our main courses was thoroughly satisfying. The atmosphere exuded charm, and we look forward to revisiting to sample the fixed menu and partake in the lively entertainment, particularly the belly dancing, amidst the vibrant tent seating adorned with Moroccan embellishments.
Great ambience and belly dancers are interactive. Love everything except the food. The food is not Moroccan food at all.
Food is okay, I think I m just not a fan of Moroccan food or I ve never had good Moroccan food. Either ways for the price food was not up to par, as it was a 3 course meal. Hummus for app not that flavourful but decent, main got chicken and rice, chicken was dry, and crème brûlée for dessert was decent. Overall experience was good, but don t think it s all that it s cracked up to be
Ronny was amazing! He was knowledgeable about the menu, recommended some new items we loved. Friendly, super amazing conversationalist, and made us feel very welcome. My friends and I will be returning just for him!
The place is beautiful, friendly but under staffed. we waited long time for our food. To be honest the food wasnt good at all ! Harira soup not even close to the Moroccan Harira. Zalouk appetizer was ok but the dish was too small. The main dishes were big enough but not tasty at all. The desserts were just SAD.. And we finished with Moroccan tea that had one vine of mint in it ! which is also not close to the Moroccan Atay. The belly dancer was phenomenal. In general doesnt worth the price.
Amazing food, great service by Jennifer
First time here the food was amazing, loved the atmosphere it felt like i was in a different country, my server jennifer was amazing!!! Definitely coming back
Long time customer. Its always a great experience. Good to see Jennifer is back serving. Shes so experienced and attentive. The show is a lot of fun. Very happy to be able to share this great find with my new husband.
Absolutely fantastic dinner and the service from Ronny was spectacular!
Excellent service and entertainment, but food was not that great, could use more dishes on the menu
This place is truly unique. The decor of the restaurant is truly top notch and it feels like you re transported to another country. The accompanying show is pretty entertaining, but be warned that they will actively seek to get you to participate. Saw some very bothered wives in the crowd lmao. Went for winterlicious and the food was really tasty. Their hummus was flavoured so well, and their lamb shank was super tender and full of flavour.
We came from out of town specifically to attend this restaurant. It was a complete surprise as my wife planned it for date night. The food was spot on, delicious flavours and everything cooked to perfection. Our server was fantastic and attentive! The show was really well done and the ladies they had performing were top notch. The owner I believe came to our table and ensured everything was to our satisfaction, which it exceeded. We will definitely be back!
Little expensive but worth it for the atmosphere and entire experience. Food was fantastic. Their alcoholic in-house cocktails were delicious. The vegetarian options were packed with flavor and definitely better than the chicken dishes. The belly dancers were phenomenal. They encouraged the audience to join in and taught us a few moves. Belly dancing is at 7pm and 10pm and lasts 30minutes.
Fun night with mediocre food. FOOD: We came here for Winterlicious, expecting a great meal. However, it definitely disappointed. The fattoush salad was tasty, but very basic. It did pack a crunch, but was not something you cannot get elsewhere. I am a sucker for a lamb shank, so I had to order it over couscous. Despite my excitement, it disappointed. Sure, it fell off the bone, it the flavour was very much lamb with limited seasoning. We finished with baklava, which was the only thing that was truly outstanding. That being said, I can probably find it elsewhere. SERVICE: Our server, Mahmoud, was absolutely excellent and really drove the rating for the place up. On point, kind, and attentive. ATMO: The belly dancing was fun and the music was loud, it was a good show indeed. That said, the place did feel like a tent and not in a good way. It definitely needs renovations.
This restaurant is a great experience for the value! The food is full of incredible flavours, the staff is friendly and very knowledgeable with the menu. The performance by Gabriela was amazing she was engaging and extremely entertaining!
My boyfriend took me here for our Valentine s Day dinner. Really cool atmosphere and our server was amazing. Food was good and I enjoyed the belly dancing show!
My girlfriend and I enjoyed a wonderful evening here. Felt the price of the 3 course meal was fair after receiving my full meal & the belly dancing show was an added bonus for a fun environment. Restaurant has cool aesthetic, a classy establishment. My girlfriend had the lamb chops and I had the braised lamb shank for mains, both tasted amazing and I didn t even need a knife for mine as it was so tender. The service was also top notch. Had a great night overall.
Great food and great service. Will be back for sure :)
Great atmosphere and service. Food is good but not exceptional. Dessert was dry and bland.
Food is above average, not superb. A little expensive looking at the value you get. Great atmosphere though
This is an incredible restaurant with real authentic flavours! Everything we ordered was incredible! We were not there in time for the show but the atmosphere and decor was an event in its own. Finally Chris was a pleasure to deal with, our whole experience was amazing! Thanks! Follow me on Instagram @chefelpadre to view the video reel of my visit to this amazing restaurant!
Food was definitely tasty, but nothing particularly specia for the price. The lamb was too salty and lacking sides, but the meat was very tender and fell off the bone. However, the entertainment, service, and atmosphere were 6/5. Super friendly and helpful waiters, amazing and enthusiastic belly dancers, and comfortable and beautiful decor. The only discomfort was lack of ac. Overall still a wonderful experience to try at least once!
Very good atmosphere and delicious food
The whole party ate all the food thats how good it is. The show was also fun
This was an incredible, the show was interactive and fun
Came in here last sec. Sat the bar with friends. Mamun the bartender is best host I ve had experience with dining in Toronto. I will definitely be back just cause of the vibes be brought to the bar. Food was nothing short of AMAZING. cheers!
Amazing experience, worth every penny. I would highly recommend this place
I went here a total of two times. First time to experience the general dining experience without the belly dancing show, and the 2nd to experience the belly dancing show. I must say I preferred my first time - not because of something bad, but I just found that the price point with the show wasn t super super worth it. I did find it a great show, I thought the dancers were so interactive and great at their art however, I felt like the food options plus the show at the price point given was not on par. The food was delicious, well cooked, seasoned to perfection I had and have no complaints. Both servers on both occasions were phenomenal. They are so attentive and very personable, I look forward to having them again. I would say I would definitely return to have a general dining experience because it ticked off all the boxes: - great food - great dining. Otherwise - I would say, get here earlier if you want parking, parking can get quite limited as there is a theatre nearby that takes a lot of street parking.
Our waiter, Dominic, was amazing.
Had our NYE dinner here and it was an awesome experience! My husband and I enjoyed the 4-course meal, and the belly-dancing show! The ambience is great and the vibe of the crowd was pleasant. It was a busy night so orders were slow to arrive, even the drinks, but our server was too nice and apologized for the delays. I ordered a classic Margarita which they didn t have on the menu, but made it for me. Thank you! It was awesome. We had fillet mignon and seafood royale for mains - generous serving and food was delicious! Paid >$250 per person for food and drinks.
Great food, atmosphere, service, and entertainment.
The food was delicious and the entertainment was good. Family enjoyed the experience. With a couple alcohol beverages a family of 5 with tax and tip cost $500 (everyone had the 2 plate meal). I enjoyed the experience and glad I went, I dont think I will be going back anytime soon, at least not with the whole family. I would recommend the place as a change from the everyday dining experience. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian options are available. Dietary restrictions: They were able to accommodate gluten free requirements.
Dietary restrictions: They can easily accommodate GF requests. Food
Love love love, great food, great experience and great service. Took my FIL here and he loved it who is very hard to please! Wonderful experience
DOMINIC WAS PRETTY GOOD AND HELPFUL.
We went with 10 friends for a girls night out. Our server was good but she was busy serving a lot of tables. food was delicious but dinner came soonafter appetizers and some appetizers were cold. Drinks were given late and appetizers came before drinks. The belly dance show was really good and entertaining. Lovely place but need to change their old decor they have had for many years. Vegetarian options: Had few varieties of vegetarian options , not a lot but food was delicious.
Big fan! Had a fun night watching the belly dancer and enjoying a 3 course meal. Everything tasted great, service was great and I love the atmosphere and being in those tents.
Thank you for your hospitality and the delicious food we got during the new event. we definitely enjoyed and recommend this restaurant for an amazing dinner full of tasty food and wonderful show Food
I love The Sultan s Tent! I love the atmosphere, the staff is great, the food is great! Such a great experience Best spot in Toronto
Very good. Food was incredible. Entertainment was super fun.
Great food and a great show. Such a great experience for couple s night.
Something special. Experience something different for once. Enjoy a touch of another world. We were treated to Moroccan food and drink by very attentive service, as well as a very nice, non-intrusive performance by a belly dancer. Not cheap, but something special. A successful evening
Excellent service! Food was mediocre, nothing compared to what real Moroccon food tastes like. Not worth the pricetag. Food
We had such a blast celebrating my friend s birthday (obviously this is a hit birthday place, so every table had a birthday song that night, lol) The dancers were very interactive, food is really good with big portions. Just a wonderful night
Really cool place! Great service and atmosphere. Great cocktail. The food however is not authentic Moroccan, and is overpriced for the quality. We were served cold rubbery shrimp and at $30+ for a small entree we were left expecting more. The belly dancer is amazing and its a great place for a Night out, just dont come hungry or you will be disappointed.
The so called show on a Sunday is not a show
The staff were great. Very knowledgeable about their products and what is in them. Nice drinks and the food was fantastic. My fiance does not generally eat steak but she wanted to steal mine because it was so good. Dietary restrictions: They had knowledge of everything that contained nuts or may have a possibility of contamination.
Great meat options but not a lot for vegetarians. Exceptional service and ambience though.
I have been to Sultans tent a few times. But last night was simply amazing. Very courteous host, loved the food, cooked and flavored to perfection...and the belly dancers just nailed it. Such a nice attitude, connected with guests yet graceful. Everyone in the tent had spectacular time. I wish i had asked the name of our server....he was too good!
The food is great here, the service is even better. Service was fast and friendly, and booking a table was easy.
Went here for a friends birthday, service was unreal, our table was always tended to and the server made us feel so welcomed and cared for! Can t say I remember ever receiving service like that anywhere else, definitely left a great impression on me. Food was also amazing, ambience was cozy and the dancing is nice entertainment
Much efforts were created to simulate a Moroccan styled casual restaurant and indeed an attraction to most patrons. Food was good and plentiful. More insights in advertising may need to gain more patrons for their unique entertainment nights.
Came here for a birthday dinner and the Atmosphere here was definitely a 10/10 !but being middle eastern this is definitely not authentic Moroccan food :) service was great and everyone was so lovely working here
The staff really goes out of their way to make you feel welcome. The dancers were terrific. They really engaged everybody and had a great time and the food is spectacular.
The food was spectacular and so delicious! The presentation of both the food and the restaurant was beautiful! I did not have to ask once for more water or extra cutlery, the server was amazing and so kind. I definitely recommend to check it out if you re in the area or are looking to try amazing food! The Fatoosh salad is unreal!
I traveled all the way from Florida to celebrate a special family event at the Sultan s Tent in Toronto. The cuisine here is undeniably exceptional. I had the seafood tajine, my Fiancé ordered the short ribs. Be sure not to overlook the crème brûlée it s truly extraordinary. The portions are generous, and the dishes are to die for! Our server was more than exceptional, contributing to the overall experience. His expertise and sense of humor were spot on. Of course, the belly dance performance was the highlight we were all looking forward to. What made it truly special was the interactive aspect; the dancers encouraged patrons to partake in belly dancing, making it a unique and engaging experience. Dining under the tent felt like a journey to an authentic Moroccan restaurant. Nestled in the heart of downtown Toronto, this venue promises an unforgettable experience.
This was our first time to try moroccan food. Super kind staff, amazing tasting food and great atmosphere! I wanna try again. Food : 5/5
I went here with a group of friends for Halloween. We were in a tent for 14 people. The decoration of the place makes you feel like you are in Morocco, with the dim lights, the background music, fabrics hanging from the ceiling, multiple pillows and cushions, etc. The belly dancing show starts at 7:00 pm and they have multiple dancers. I loved that the girls invited people to dance with them, and at the end you get belly dancing diploma. The food was really good. You get an entrée, appetizer and dessert. The portions have a good size and the flavor is interesting. Im not used to Moroccan spices so the food had a special flavor for me. If you have allergies, be aware that a lot of the food has pistachios/cashews. For dessert, you can request something thats not on the menu. I recommend the Moroccan tea, its really tasty. The only downside is that the place is quite pricey. You get all what I mentioned above for $75 per person, plus tax, plus hst, it adds to almost $100. Drinks are separate. Also, our reservation was at 6:30 and he had to vacate at 8:30. Overall, this would be a nice place to come on a special occasion. Having visited middle easter land, Im very satisfied with the experience in Toronto.
Service was really great, food is mediocre and tastless, everything around is dated, performance itself is maximum 20 min long and not impressive at all. Was expecting much more as we heard a lot about the place.
Aside from the nice atmosphere and OK service, the food was terrible. Ordered the Berber chicken - it was dry and bland. Rice didnt have any sauce on it, contributing to the overall dryness. Food came out and was lukewarm. Ive had better hummus at Cafe Landwer. Wasnt a fan of the hard pitas provided with the hummus. Got an upset stomach after eating here which hit approximately 7 hours after eating. Have not had an upset stomach eating anywhere else in Toronto for years. Not sure if the food was fresh or just leftovers. Service was fine, but unfortunately that doesnt make up for a bad product & the illness that ensued. Extremely overpriced for what it was. Will not be coming back.
Amazing
I went with my husband for our anniversary. Food was tasteless and dry. Our waiter kept on disappearing. My husband found a long hair on his Chicken Berber. He was throwing up all night, Definitely not worth the price!!!
Outstanding food and the service is fantastic! The ambiance is set just right. It was only my wife and I however; next time I will bring a group.
Food was OK. Some vegan vegetarian options but I wasn t overly amazed by the taste. Service was excellent. Staff were helpful in recommending dishes. The belly dancing was very entertaining and interactive. i would only recommend it for special occasion. As a vegan vegetarian it wouldn t be my first place to go. Vegetarian options: Some vegan vegetarian options
Amazing, the food is delicious, the service perfect, Nelly dance show wow! If you are looking for experience that s the correct place. Food
Everything was great about this restaurant. Our group really enjoy spending a night professional servers, beautiful dance, and tea ceremony. Definitely visiting again. Parking: There is a big Parking clothes to the restaurant about five minutes walk but you definitely find a parking spot inside the parking lot finding parking on the street is hard
I expected more of the food, but the atmosphere, including a nice dancers performance, won the night.
Absolutely wonderful service, food and entertainment !
Everything was exceptional. Service, environment, food, location... We all had a great time. Highly recommended.
The food was so delicious. Every dish we got was absolutely amazing.
This was such a fun place to go to see a live show and eat some great food! The service was amazing for our large group which was impressive!
I recently visited Sultan s Tent with my work team for what we anticipated would be a delightful dinner experience. Unfortunately, our evening was marred by unexpected costs and poor service. Upon arrival, we were informed by the hostess of a set menu priced at $75 per person, which seemed reasonable. However, when the bill arrived, we were astounded to find that the cost had escalated to $125 per person. This significant increase was attributed to upcharges on every meat and seafood dish, all of which were suggested by our waiter. These additional costs were not communicated to us at any point during our meal. The situation worsened when we questioned these unexpected charges. The waiter became argumentative and insistent that he had informed us of the upcharges, despite none of the seven of us recalling such information being shared. His refusal to acknowledge the lack of communication and his confrontational attitude was deeply unsettling. In a surprising turn, the waiter brought out money from the kitchen, implying that we were unwilling to pay, which was not the case. We simply wanted to provide feedback on the need for clearer communication about menu pricing. Our suggestion was met with disdain, and the waiter s behavior was dismissive and unprofessional. While the restaurant s ambiance and the show may have been enjoyable, the overall experience was severely tainted by the hidden costs and the waiter s rudeness. It s crucial for dining establishments to be transparent about pricing and to handle customer feedback with respect and professionalism. Unfortunately, Sultan s Tent fell short in these areas during our visit.
Great ambience. The food was very savoury. The reception and service is brilliant. The staff is cordial and the place is crowded. Do try the mint tea and Baklava. It was my first time having a Baklava and there is no better thing I have had in ages. Kudos to the team. Will definitely visit again.
Loved it. Best for celebrations.
This place was amazing! The Braised Beef was melt on your mouth good and we loved the belly dancing.
Amazing taste of the dishes. We went on weekdays, and there was no waiting time. I loved Martini drink and lamb Shank.
Had our company year-end social here. All items were 5-star in my opinion. Food was great, service was fantastic, and the ambiance inside captured nearly authentic middle eastern vibes.
What a cool place, food drink service excellent.
Incredible food, entertainment and service! Special shout-out to Mahmoud who made us feel so welcomed. A dinner we won t forget!
Great place. Beautiful belly dancer. Hope it had been alittle longer. Overall great food.
Great place, ambience and service! I just found the place to be a bit overpriced.
The restaurant does not reflect Moroccan culture. The cuisine is not 100% Matocan. Women in Morocco are not almost naked. We have traditional clothes like the caftan, jellaba, tekchita...
The restaurant does not serve Moroccan food, and women in Morocco do not dance like this without clothes and she dont dance in restaurants
No relation with Moroccan cuisine. And its too far from Moroccan culture too,
It is not a Moroccan restaurant!!!
It is a wonderful place to go with a group. You will have a blast like I did with my colleagues for our Christmas party. Great entertainment & dancing. The food is bland, missing the aromatic & spice flavours.
Tamara was the absolute best. Our food was spectacular
My husband and I had a wonderful night out at the Sultan s Tent, which has been around for many years. Prompt, attentive, and friendly service, hearty and flavourful food, and whimsical ambience. The belly dancer, who started at 8pm was lovely and sweet, but she didn t seem as skilled as others I ve seen. Overall, it was a wonderful time and I d highly recommend it. We had the 3 course prize fix: I loved my fatoush salad, the hummus, my seafood tajine, and my husband had the lamb shank - all very good.
