Strongest mid restaurant, experience was okay service was not bad nor amazing. They pre charge you 18% tip and then expect you to tip more on top of it, for doing the bare minimum. Food was a solid 7/10 but for the price more 5/10 maybe the summer is better for them.

The tastiest Mexican food Ive ever had. Great portions and theyre very generous with toppings. Service was also fabulous Dietary restrictions: Gluten friendly

The BEST margaritas in town...

Food was absolutely delicious I gave low stars for service because I went here a second time with a coworker who had never been. Decided to treat her to a shot of tequila and got another one for myself. I asked the server ahead of time how much the shots were, and he said, Dont worry, theyre cheap. Got the bill, and he charged me 16 + tax per shot!!!!, and I thought that was not only expensive but very misleading!!

I drove by so many times and never stopped. I decided to give it a try today and was quite surprised how good this was.

The nachos with chorizo were absolutely amazing. There is a heap of ingredients and it all tasted fresh. We werent too crazy about the ceviche de camaron, as we felt there was too much liquid in the dish. The seared tuna taco (atun tostada) must be tried. It is one of the best tacos Ive tasted.

Imagine eating a delicious Mexican dish accompanied by an exquisite Mexican drink, and all this wrapped in a cozy atmosphere, listening to Mexican music. A sudden trip to Mexico!!!

Went to barrio today after passing by on streetcar multiple times. Thé food was incredible and portion sizes were fair. Everything was very flavourful, we shared the nachos between four and it was just enough for us, it was loaded with toppings and so tasty. I had the fish taco and it was so flaky and delicious. The cheese taco was nice but it was heavy. My friends had the chorizo taco, beef tinga taco & a burrito bowl and all looked amazing and they all enjoyed. The food tasted fresh and was hot when served. We also had margaritas (2x regular and one spicy, that was one of the nicest spicy margs i have had in a long time!!!!) Have read reviews about slow service, we visited at 2pm and were the only people bar one other table, service was fair in speed and the gentleman was friendly. It could ve maybe been a little faster considering the lack of other guests but overall was not a problem for us. I would definitely recommend and will be returning.

Visited on a Friday night. Didn t have to wait for a table and got a seat on the patio overlooking the park next door. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was fantastic! We had an assortment of tacos and one of us had the chicken Mole. All of it was great. The cocktails were delicious and the house margarita was the best I ve had. Also enjoyed a tequila beacause tequila. Ate too much, drank too much, would most definitely return!

I wish I could give this restaurant negative stars. The service was absolutely awful. We ordered a beer with our drinks which came after our appetizer and after we asked for it. The Michelada tasted like water with worchersite sauce, they took it away ans just topped it with beer, so gross it was a dare drink. There was limited tables occupied and the service was slow. Manager was arrogant didnt bother to try to rectify. Food was mediocre at best. Anyone can put tortillas with spices on it and call it mexican. Absolutely disgusting. Apparently asking for napkins is also a problem. Im in shock this place has been in business for as long as it has. Lots of other Mexican restaurants on queen st with amazing food and great service.

Ok so 4 years ago this place was dynamite. NOW NOT SO MUCH. Nearly EveryTime I go I wait at the front door forever NOBODY acknowledges that customers are there.. so finally we call out to the Many staff Huddled at the bar and they look up and tell us to please Wait theyll be right with us.. Weve been waiting. So the gentleman finally comes over.. we ask for a 2 on the patio. He directs us to a table with 3 seats 2 of which are hemmed in by a stroller. He has already walked away so I need to find him to tell him the chair doesnt pull out far enough for someone to sit. He then trys to seat us in the aisle.. I say no.. there are many open tables please seat us elsewhere. He says I only have 4s left.. so we left. And Im Never going back its so unfortunate bc the food is delicious and the margs are great.. but the service is Below unacceptable.

Very slow service, despite being not at all busy. We ordered some appetizers and tacos to follow. Got the appetizer, but the tacos never came. After waiting for a long time and witnessing a table who was seated and ordered after us get their tacos, we decided to just get the bill and leave. So never tried the tacos.

Nice tacos

This review and opinion is based on dog owners perspective. Twice I had a negative experience from re: the service. Note this place is not a dog friendly patio. The patio had a two people eating and middle of summer heat, and they really wanted the dog outside of the patio and sitting in the sidewalk where there was no shade. We never ordered cause of this experience and left. Im sure the food is good but little common sense can go long way, even with this strict rule.

Food was truly worth returning for! Service was a bit slow to start. But, our waiter was very attentive.

Horrible service, maybe inconsistent at best. We were given 5 sets of cutleries for 7 guests. The table beside us had a bottle of water where ours did not (and the server never came to check if we needy refills anything else).

We tried the mole poblano, tinga, and tres leche cake. All were very good. The mole is not the tastiest but it feels precious. The Tinga was great but a lil bit soggy. The tres leche was great! Recommended for its price.

The food was very tasty but a little on the cold side. Our waiter was a little crusty when we first arrived. I suspect that he was the only server in the restaurant even though it was quite busy. So yes, the service was quite slow. However, the restaurant itself was lovely.

This seemed like a good option for some Mexican food. The patio looked really good in the pics. What a big disappointment. Im Mexican and I can say that this place is not really mexican. Food is not legit. I asked for horchata and tres leches cake and they didnt have any. I ordered some tuna tostadas and the tostadas were the worst I have ever had, so greasy! They were poorly served and so expensive. We had 3 tostadas, 2 medium sized tacos and 2 ginger ales and the check was $65. Definitely not worth it. As it was a Wednesday, the patio wasnt even open...

The food is amazing. The service is terrible. We were there on a Saturday afternoon and they were not able to manage all the groups. The food at Barrio is truly awesome but the experience does not do it justice and I wish they would hire more staff (and take the time to train them properly).

This place has the best Mexican food Ive ever had, I can believe I found it here. They have a pretty nice patio and parking wasnt too difficult. I highly recommend trying this place out.

Food and drinks were good, but reviews are consistent that service was poor. Slow and inattentive even though we were the only people at the restaurant.

Waited for 25 minutes, and staff just stood around with empty tables. We got seated and servers all walking around lost. We asked several times to get a menu, water or cutlery. It was like the first day for everyone working there. Once ordered, food came fast, almost all premade. Had the enchiladas and runs almost hr later. NOT WORTH THE WAIT OR MONEY.

Not sure how its rated so highly... Not many people when we arrived, but it picked up as we were there. We ordered the enchiladas, tostadas, and nachos. We requested chicken on the nachos and guacamole on the side, there was no chicken on the nachos and no guacamole, they offered to bring it out, but we declined and they took it off the bill. Service was okay. The atmosphere was nice. Wheelchair accessibility: No steps into the restaurant, but inside is a little tight, but the patio seems to have some room.

Reserved table not ready on arrival although resto half empty. Slow and inattentive service. Decent tacos and guacamole. Overpriced.

The service was incredibly friendly. Both the Chicken and Halibut tacos were outstanding, though the Carne asada was a bit too sweet for my taste. My only suggestion would be bigger taco shells to match the generous amount of meat served. Highly recommended for a patio beer!

Best nachos in the city! Amazing drinks and friendly staff

Went to have dinner tonight (Thursday night) on a patio so we could enjoy the beautiful weather. There was a lot of staff working however none of them seemed to want our business. We waited over 20 minutes to get water we got up to leave and walked past about 5 servers standing inside chatting. Ignoring us. Knowing how hard the service industry is being hit with inflation and people choosing not to go out or being choosy about where they go. I m sure servers are expecting inflated tips which in tonight s case, very undeserving. Not a good look

Decent food bad service

Last night, I went to Barrio for Cinqo de Mayo dinner and it was disappointing. I couldn t taste the food due to bad service. My food was sent back twice and when I finally got my order, the quality of my steak was substandard. The server asked me if I really wanted potatoes instead of bean on the side as if I was making it up. They could have left my plate & brought over just a plate of potatoes, instead they took my plate away. Then it came back 5 minutes later with no bean but cold steak. So I asked for a fresh plate of food. That s when I got stringy pieces of beef instead of a a steak with salty potatoes. I had to wait 10 more minutes and had to ask the server 3 times for a steak knife. The inexperienced server made the whole meal unpleasant. At the end I hardly ate anything on my plate, as the food tasted terrible. I would never go back. Save your money, plenty more authentic Mexican restaurants in Toronto with great service & quality food.

Went for brunch on Mothers Day. Fantastic food, highly recommend the enchiladas, flautas, and French toast (which is really more of a dessert, but who cares).

This place has one of the best patios around. In fact, there are two big patios. Drinks and food are good. They also do special nights with DJs. Fun spot, especially in the summer.

**Restaurant Review: A Disappointing Experience at Barrio** I recently had an extremely disappointing experience at Barrio restaurant. Despite the promise of good food and drinks, the service was abysmal from start to finish. To begin with, we waited over 25 minutes just for someone to take our drink order. Once the drinks finally arrived, it took another 25 minutes for the server to return and take our food order. This kind of delay is simply unacceptable for any dining establishment. Things only got worse from there. When our guacamole arrived, we asked for more chips, but our server forgot and we had to wait another 10 minutes. It was clear that the staff was either overwhelmed or simply inattentive. Frustrated with the lack of service, I asked to speak with a manager. The first request was ignored, and only after asking a second time did the manager, Ivan, come over. When I expressed my dissatisfaction, his response was dismissive. He said, I know, and then asked, What do you want me to do? This lack of accountability and concern was infuriating. What makes this experience even more frustrating is that the food and drinks were actually quite good. However, good food cannot make up for terrible service. To make matters worse, we were not the only ones suffering from poor service. Multiple tables around us were also complaining, and one table even left after drinking water because no one came to serve them. In conclusion, if you dont mind poor service, Barrio might be worth a visit for the food and drinks. However, based on my experience, I cannot recommend this restaurant. Good food is not enough to overcome the severe shortcomings in service.

The food was great, the atmosphere was OK. The service was OK. What I did not appreciate was the waiter/serving staff decided to add the maximum amount of tip to the bill without even asking. When comfronted about it he just said its all by default. I dont thin so. Tips are not mandatory and should not be pushed on you like that. Before ordering make sure you let them know you will be deciding whether you will tip and how much. Be very careful when going here, shaddy studf going on. The drinks were not as strong as we usually have them elsewhere. A Mule should taste like tequila and ginger beer. In my case it was all ginger beer. Make sure you double check your bill. Dont be taken for a fool.

Great food, drinks and service! Went on a quiet Wednesday night and it was lovely!

I took my partner for a special occasion dinner yesterday. The restaurant was loud and the server took our order for food. After seeing everyone who came after us receive their food i inquire from the server about our food and he looked confused after a few mins he came to my saying sorry I forgot to put your food order in !!! Needless to say we left as we were not going to wait another hour. We cleared our drink tab and left disappointed!!

The food, drinks and overall atmosphere was great! The wait staff was super knowledgeable about the entire menu and were incredibly polite. Great background music without being too loud so it was easy to converse. Will definitely be back

Nice local Mexican restaurant

I have mixed feelings about Barrio. Although the food was good, the weird experience from our visit overshadowed the taste of the food. Two of us had a reservation, made through their Website, using OpenTable a reservation which was made well over 24 hours before our arrival. One of us drove about 7km, and the other about 15km to the restaurant. Since we were driving, we hadnt checked phones, only to arrive at the restaurant and be told by the manager that our reservation was cancelled, and that he had tried to reach us to let us know. It was then that my friend checked her phone, only to see a cancellation e-mail notification (no phone call) sent LESS than 1/2 hr before we arrived at the restaurant. 1) The reservation was made the day prior, in the afternoon and 2) the restaurant opened at NOON the day we arrived, nearly six hours before our reservation, but they chose to inform us of the cancellation only 1/2 hr before our dinner! They had over 24 hrs to let us know. The reason for the cancellation (which was NOT indicated in the email) was because they had two private parties booked (on the lower and upper levels), yet the OpenTable was still allowing us to make reservations!? They asked us if we thought we would be done our meal by 7pm, since the private party would be starting at 7:30. We really should have left at that point, as that set the tone, but we had another event to attend after dinner, and didnt want to look for another restaurant, so we said we would be done in time (which gave us approximately 1hr and 15min to dine). EXCEPT after about 45 minutes of sitting down, the party organizer showed up, with bags of what looked like 100 balloons, and proceeded (obnoxiously) to move tables around us and set up for the party, while we were STILL DINING, and not hiding her annoyance that the tables were not where they should have been! They didnt give us the time they promised, but rushed us out before an hour. Our server was very clearly pushing us to order and finish our meals. Our appetizer arrived, and within a minute or two, our main dishes also arrived, with no time to savour the appetizer. We were mid-way through our main dish, when tables began to be picked up and moved all around us, by an incredibly vociferous party planner. In the end, they discounted the final bill by 20% and gave us complimentary churros, which was appreciated (if not expected), though because of what happened, I wouldnt re-visit this restaurant.

Oh, my Lord. I have to say the hot sauce that they make is on another level for flavor and heat. This place is amazing and I absolutely loved the spicy margarita no rim job. Lol

Amazing place to come for a date or just to spend some time with family. It just has a great feel to it all round. No complaints or issues with anything! Delicious!

Decent Mexican food

Tacos are great, but the service is very poor. Even though there were few people in the place, the waiter was able to bring 4 glasses after our third request. The music was too loud inside. Customers were shouting to hear each other. Tacos were great. You can only go for tacos....

Food was pretty good but the service was terrible. Our waitress was inattentive and very unfriendly, we received the wrong beer, the food took almost an hour to arrive, I was dining with two vegans who asked for no cheese on their dishes but received cheese, and there were still stickers on the red peppers... very disappointing experience.

used to come here all the time when food prices were on point but lately the service has suffered because its probably understaffed but they also overcharge for everything two people had three tacos and a drink each and it was over $100. Ridiculous.

To be honest I ve got a mixed feeling about this place. We went to Barrio on a Sunday evening and it was pretty busy. We decided to sit on the patio and loved the aesthetics - would highly recommend sitting on the patio instead of inside. Our server was charming and very friendly, no complains there. However, we were not very satisfied with the food or the drink. We ordered a cocktail and I can t recall the name of it but it tasted really bad. Every sip felt like I was chewing on cucumbers and felt like I was sipping on basic cucumber juice. We ordered two fish tacos and two chicken tacos - they were expensive. $7.5 for the chicken and $8.5 for the fish each seemed a little irrational to me. The chicken tacos were not that great but we loved the fish ones. For mains we got their quesadilla with chicken - again $14 + the price for adding chicken for three small quesadillas were not worth it. We also tried their Enchiladas and I think this was the only dish that was worth the money. All in all the experience wasn t bad but I d not be back for sure.

Amazing food and great house lager!

Nicely decorated, lively atmosphere. Great for outdoor patio dine-in or indoor as well. The food was delicious. It was authentic Mexican food, and I really enjoyed it, and prices were good. We had an order of ceviche and two main plates. Id love to support a Mexican-owned business since its hard to come by authentic Mexican food here, but... service was really bad. We had to wait about 10min for someone to ask for our orders. We didnt have enough time to finish our appetizer because the server was late to get our orders from the beginning, so when the main dishes came out, the waiter wanted to take our plates before we finished the appetizer. And when we wanted extra napkins and wanted more water refills, no server was to be found. They were all busy in the kitchen, or chilling by the bar, as we saw them from afar. We called them so they would notice us. They were unprofessional at times, sitting on a table in the dining room on a laptop while ignoring diners. If service was better, it would really elevate the entire experience. Maybe its time to watch some Restaurant Impossible or Kitchen Nightmare shows so you understand how badly trained staff can kill business.

Food was delicious! They have a huge patio area perfect for drinking a Paloma or michelada, Grace our server was lovely and friendly. The patio was very busy so the wait was a while before we got taken care of the wait was worth it. We will definitely be going back this summer (more than once)

We waited 40 minutes for our order to be taken, despite multiple servers being on shift. They would simply stare at us sitting at our empty table, then either clear one plate at a time from a different table or chat with their co-workers. We did not have one assigned server, so the process of ordering and receiving food was also inefficient and chaotic. We were only served when my partner went up the staff to ask personally. After waiting an hour for chips and guacamole, the chips were so stale they were inedible. I genuinely think they became stale from sitting on the counter for 40 minutes. The overall experience took over 2 hours for a drink, an app, and an entree - what would otherwise be considered a simple meal. The food was very good aside from the chips. Still, I haven t tipped under 18% in three years, but this staff wholeheartedly deserved the 15%.

Nice way to spend a summer evening on their patio. Food was good. A bit on the pricey side, reference being about $7 per taco. We went with enchilada and the barrio bowl, which we enjoyed. Good amount of food for each dish. Ceviche had a good portion of shrimp, just a bit watery. Service was just ok. They forgot to come back to clean the table we were taken to after saying they would. We didn t get any water or even cutlery until after the mains were brought out. They also forgot our ceviche order but after reminding them, we got it at the end. I would consider going back for the atmosphere on the patio.

The food was so delicious that we almost could not believe it. So far we have had enchiladas, flautas and barrio bowl. Every bite is an explosion of flavors and textures with the right amount of spiciness. We love this place!

After a long day on set, it was awesome to kick back, and have some homemade beer at Barrio! The atmosphere is amazing with a terrace and indoor options, and its right next to the park! If you get lucky, you can hear the live music in the distance! Cheers

I cant really rate the food because we waited 50 minutes for our food and when we asked about how much longer for our food to come, we were told another 15 minutes. Thats too long a wait so we just paid for our beer and walked out. So wanted to try the food as they looked good from other peoples table. We came purposely to Riverside area to check out the scene with Beaches Jazz Festival. Very disappointed.

Very good place and a pleasant atmosphere, it has a place to eat inside the place as well as tables outside for people who like to eat outdoors with a view of a park.

I know there are some reviews going on about how bad the service is but for me and my friends when we went it definitely was because its under staffed. They need to hire more people I am not sure if its cause the dont want to, greedy management or simply bad economic times, you cant fault the waitstaff they definitely try their best but there is no way one person can mange that many tables efficiently. The food is alright not the best, their drinks are good and the atmosphere is nice. Overall the experience is good, they need to hire more staff to make it less hard on the servers and would make the flow of service way better.

e were there on Monday afternoon. I hate the fact that they auto added an 18% tip for a party of 4. We realized that we had added inadvertently added tip.. When we complained, they were quick to reverse it.. seemed to me that they are used to patrons requesting the reversal. Just not good business ethics. Food was good though pricey... Barring the tip incident, I would probably have given the restaurant 4 stars.

I have been here a few times and usually the service is at best a 3. I am so happy to write a review today, because we had the best freaking service. Solid spot, but tacos are wayyy too small for what they cost (over 8 dollars for each taco, which are mini). Barrio must of hired a management consulting firm to redo their prices .. well played . I would adjust to $$$

Very good food!

Barrio has a great location, nice atmosphere, friendly service, but awful food unfortunately. The enchiladas were assembled nicely but contained grey, unappetizing cubes of mystery meat instead of carnitas which are typically shredded. One of the tacos was extremely spicy, despite there being no warning on the menu. The rice looked great but was mushy and tasted like dishwater. The cocktails we ordered were good. Not a good Sunday dinner, and a waste of $100. My suggestion to the restaurant would be to remove about half of the menu options and focus on quality instead of quantity of options. 3 appetizers, 5 mains, 5 tacos, 2 desserts, a cocktail menu and a better beer list would be so much better than the current menu - could even rotate in dishes weekly.

Tacos were fabulous and a fair price. Really nifty interior. Spacious patio,and side bar has huge open windows, gives an outdoor feel.

Great atmosphere, with super friendly staff. Been here a few times and know to expect slow service so was pleasantly surprised service was expedient on my last visit. If the food wasn t good I probably would not go back due to the slow service. I hope they keep it up. For the food- flautas are amazing and there s lots of taco options and I ve had a couple misses, but the ones that I like, I really like. I ve had dining companions enjoy the ones I didn t , so really personal preference. To the reviewer who complained about too much tomato on the meal- it might be a regional cuisine thing. I ve travelled through Mexico and tomatoes are used more heavily in some areas. Overall it s a good place for casual fare.

Loved this place. Came here for brunch. Quality South American food: tasty and rich. Portions really good size and have good composition of carbs and proteins. Definitely coming back here for more food and beer. Good job Barrio staff! Thank you!

Nice and casual spot for some tacos.

All the staff were super friendly, the food was delicious and fun to explore the menu, we ended up getting one each of a few tacos and sharing. I recommend going with tequila pairing. A side note, the staff were super professional in handling an awful entitled pair of passersby who threatened a bad review. Big dude and a lady with a little dog in a bag. Treat waiters right folks, total red flag if you dont.

Food was great and prices were very reasonable for the high quality dishes. However, the service was horrible. All items ordered were continually taken to the wrong table, our waiter stopped serving us and accidently brought our bill when we weren t finished; surrounding tables were forgotten and it took 30 mins to have the credit machine brought to us - after waiting 40 mins waiting for desert. We were not followed up on for more drinks or food, all food ordered crashed the table and was not sequenced. No front of house presence.

The owner is extremely rude and unprofessional. We were seated at a table for 4 (we arrived as a party of 2) as we were waiting for my friends to arrive a bit later for drinks. We had finished dinner and ordered more drinks when the owner aggressively approached our table and advised that he needs to move us to a different table as we only have a party of 2 at the time while there was an empty table for 4 beside us. He did not even let us tell him that our friends were on the way neither did he apologize for any inconveniences. We proceeded to request that our drinks be canceled and to have our bill and he said thats fine and walked away. Once we paid the bill, we asked the waiter whether we should exit through the patio and he said that we need to exit through the restaurant. We went into the restaurant to exit the front doors when the owner once again aggressively approached me and was walking very close to me while hand gesturing me to move back. He proceeded to say that we needed to exit through the back. He did not listen to what we had to say as we tried to explain that we were told otherwise. He kept approaching closer to me while cutting me off and hand gesturing me to go back. We asked whether he was the manager and advised that we were not going to come back and his response was Im the owner. dont come back. The experience and treatment was awful. The owner had zero respect for his customers.

I was meeting my friends at this restaurant for drinks on a Saturday night. I was about 5 minutes away when my friend told me that they had to leave as the owner was kicking them off the table and wanted to give them a smaller table even though my friends had previously told the waiters that I was coming a bit later. I would not recommend this restaurant to anybody as it appears that the owner does not care about his customers and was extremely rude. He did not bother accommodating or letting my friends explain to him that they had friends coming.

Came here for dinner and shared a few appetizers, tacos, and a dessert. Very attentive and courteous service. The dishes were flavourful and almost on par with a place like La Carnita. Would come here again.

Enchiladas were great, had the Rojas (red salsa) with carnitas, 5/5! Fish and steak tacos were good as well but have had better elsewhere, 4/5! Shrimp ceviche was good but have also had better elsewhere, 4/5! Overall would go back but likely wouldnt order tacos, and would try the enchilada verde (green salsa) and their other large plate options.

Took quite some time to get any service even when we sat. Then took 45 minutes to bring out all 6 dishes. Food was okay, definitely not worth the wait. Tables were clean, didnt get to look much of the inside. Btw, 18% gratuity with parties of 6 or more.

Fantastic patio. The drinks were fantastic. Our server was super knowledgeable about the menu and EVERYONE enjoyed the selections he helped us choose. We are 5 friends and we stayed a long time. Everything we ordered came quickly but we werent rushed at all even though they were busy. My favourites were the street tacos and the nachos. Everyone at the table liked the nachos. The margarita was on point.

I have been here quite a few times, lunch & dinner. Pro Tip - Nachos not served at lunch / only after 4 PM and they are some the best, if not the best in the city. Impressive tequila and mezcal selections. Very nice patios options (they have two sections), service can be hit and miss pending how busy they are but typically pretty on the ball.

Great eats, drinks, atmosphere and friendly staff, however, service was a bit slow. The restaurant had switched our tables server during service and failed to notify us which resulted in some missed orders. They did remove the missed orders along with the appetizers we had from our bill as an apology. Additionally, if youre looking to eat your fill go for one of the entrées over the tacos. While the tacos are definitely delicious, theyre relatively smaller than a full plate while still sitting in the same $$$ range (i.e. three small tacos for $22-26 vs. full plate entrées for $21-$26)

Despite being overpriced, the food was simply, okay. Flavourful, but small portions. Ive come to learn to avoid places where waiters use iPads. Face down in the machine, nothing personable, at the end of the meal, we waiteed 25 minutes for our bill despite having asked for it and we were asked by our waiter where our table was when we asked the bill. He served us all night Not to mention our food was served and the waiter said he s come back with cutlery only for him to forget and so we got it ourselves after 10 minutes without anyone noticing. Not a great experience at all.

Traditional Mexican food, super tasty, super fresh ingredients, it really was Delicious. If you like real Mexican food, you absolutely have to visit! Had a Margarita, Empanadas (so good) and chicken enchiladas with salsa Verde. Highly recommended!!

This place has gone down to the gutter. I never understand how owners of restaurants allow their quality to go completely down the drain. Now, the guacamole is mixed up with some artificial paste mixture and no fresh flavours or herbs, all of the meats were greasy and fatty in our tacos. Even the Mexican Street Corn had a layer of disgusting fatty oils (canola?) drizzled all over it. The service was abysmal and unfriendly and one entree completely forgotten. I washed down the greasy, fatty meat taste with an artificial lime juice acidic margarita. You just lost a long-term customer. Goodbye Barrio

The place had such a cool vibe, and the servers were super friendly and on the ball. I couldnt get enough of those enchiladas seriously perfectly made. Cant wait to be back for more good times and amazing food!

One of the best Mexican food in town, specially recommended their Nachos which comes with lots of meat (we ordered chicken and the meat were finely pulled) and other ingredients and sauce. Good thing is the restaurant opens until 11pm, so its good for a late night dinner, dishes to share and drinks if youre looking for a place to chill out at night. And dogs are welcomed to dine in at their patio as well.

Organize & Dine here at your own (financial) risk!! We engaged the restaurant staff and then Howard (a co-owner) to host cocktail-style apps and drinks for ~15 friends and kids. The occasion was to celebrate my birthday and the outcome was a so-so experience, due primarily to co-owners Howard treatment of us. We spoke and emailed with him a few times and thought we were sorted for the event. Sadly, on the day of, we received negative surprises like: (1) full-dining seating instead of the mix-and-mingle setup we requested and NO FLEXIBILITY to accommodate us, despite minimal customers in the area and us spending $$$s. (2) last-minute coercion to order an excessive amount of food to make it worth his while, resulting in us having to bring home a ton of leftovers (3) invoicing mistakes like: - trying to charge us $45/per person and $15/child for drinks (instead of pay-per-drink as we requested) - charging us HST on the mandatory 18% gratuity...then tackily arguing with me in front of my guests that the charge was justified by CRA. However, the food (esp. the fish tacos), drinks (mezcal margherita) and staff (Skye!!) were excellent, which helped to balance out the awful experience and treatment by Howard. I would only recommend this place if youre a group of 4 or fewer, coming in for a straightforward meal/snack & drink. I sincerely hope management reads this review and uses it to figure out how to treat customers of large parties better. I was hoping to hold a few other $$$$ corporate events here in the fall, but will definitely look to other Leslieville establishments instead. :/

A sweet spot with a good patio on Queen Street. Great food and the service was super friendly. Our server and the bartender were very kind. Food was served quickly, looked and tasted fantastic. Would definitely go again.

The food was good. The tres leches was amazing. But food came 2 hours after we ordered and we ll never know why

The tacos were okay, kind of lacked flavour, and the fish tasted frozen. Unfortunately the service was not the best; we had to wait 20-30 minutes for our food, and when we tried to order another round of tacos, we were completely forgotten. After another 30 minutes, we finally tracked down our server to cancel the order. They apologized for forgetting about it, but clearly didnt because it ended up on our bill! They were fine with taking it off, but still was a bit of a headache.

Great way to spend a Friday night with the band upstairs. We didn t know there was going to be live music which was a great surprise. Delicious food, tasty drinks, and good service. Highly recommend this spot!

The waiter was nice and polite, and the food was good but didn t have an excellent experience. First they served us tequila shots but it was just water. When we pointed this out the waiter explained they get the bottles from Mexico and gave us new shots. I understand if this was a mistake but if it s on purpose this is very scummy, because following this we were also seemingly overcharged 80$ on our bill when totalling everything together. They took our number down and said they would call us about this and needed more time to figure it out. So far we are down about 80$ and don t know if we will get a refund, and if we would have to come all the way back to toronto just to collect this because we live far away. They also got one dish wrong, however this happens sometimes and they said they would make it free. If they correct their mistake on the bill I d probably change this review to be a 3 or 4 star but as of now this experience was a 2 star for me. Don t get me wrong the food itself was so delicious. It s just my personal experience that wasn t that great. I d still recommend to try it out but double check your bill

Was here with my wife and 2 of ours kids 12 and 1 years old. Brought my beer relatively fast, but didnt bring my daughter her ice tea or my family water. Additional forgot my wifes drink which we said forget it. My brisket tacos were great my wife hated the Pollo tacos, my daughter didnt mind her meal the skirt steak forget the name.
