La Carnita in Toronto

Food was great, Eddie was fantastic even hooked us up with some cake, all around good time will definitely be back soon.

I have dined at other La Carnita locations before and have enjoyed the service and food. But I had to leave this location last night before dining due to the extremely loud party downstairs and the music upstairs was heightened to compensate. The server did offer to reseat me, but it was overly noisy everywhere and did not want to shout with my guests.

We went to La Carnita last night for celebrating our anniversary!Delicious food and great vibe. Rojin made our experience even better with excellent service.

BIG yikes. I couldn t have been more underwhelmed. The pitcher of margarita is laughably small for $65 - you re better off getting an individual margarita (I did the math). The food was really bland. The only thing that was okay were the nachos. We also didn t like how they put all of the tacos together on plates rather than just giving each person what they ordered. The servers forgot which ones were which as well which made it even more difficult to figure out who ordered what. Overall just yikes.

Everything was great. The staff were friendly and welcoming, especially Rozhin, who went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. It really made the experience enjoyable.

Yesterday, my friends and I were at our favorite spot, and I was telling Rojin, our server, how the downstairs area has such a cool and cozy vibe, but it feels a bit empty. I suggested they should add some entertainment to liven it up. That s when Rojin told us she s a fire dancer, and we were like, Wow, that s awesome! You should definitely perform here, and we d love to come watch! She gave us great service, and we were really happy with her. She also asked us to leave a review and mention the idea, so here it is!

The food is terrible. Everything came cold and was spicy af. Music is too loud, for a Sunday evening I don t think it s necessary. Servers were friendly

The food was decidedly not Mexican but the atmosphere was alright! If you decide you dont want mexican food this place is an okay choice!

Y all knew you had something good, what changed? The food. It used to be good and that s not placebo. The achiote chicken staple piece is more chipotle flavoured chicken dry and feta invisible.

Their menu is great, the short ribs were absolutely delicious, cooked perfectly.

Food is mediocre. $9 a taco is insane. The 3 dips for $20 was tasty and a great portion but other than that it s extremely overpriced. Music was loud and the bathrooms were filthy. The service was attentive but overly attentive. I couldn t even have a conversation with my friend for more than 5 minutes without the server asking if I was okay. While I understand that she was trying to be as attentive as possible, it was extremely bothersome and made the entire experience unenjoyable.

The tacos were delicious, and the drinks were great! Definitely would come back.

La Carnita has been my go to spot for years. I love the atmosphere of the space and the staff is always great. I head there anytime I m craving a margarita and some tasty tacos!

Stellar cocktails and exemplary food. No lame over-cheesed, over-riced burritos to be found. Try the cocktails: So Fresh, So Green; 6am in Sausalito; Who Shot Ya. Or a classic Margarita. Try the soft tacos: carne asada, pork belly al pastor, sweet potato, In Cod We Trust. Save stomach space for churros. But skip the Cookie Coffee Toffee ice cream which is mainly just a scoop of vanilla ice cream and not up to the Mexican cuisine standarda of this restaurant. Servers are attentive and know the menu very well. Atmosphere feels most pleasant nearer the open air section of the restaurant. Seemed maybe a little dark and gloomy further into the space.

This is not authentic mexican food. Maybe I would review it higher if I had that mentality when walking in. The flavours, plating and dishes are an attempt to be mexican while gringoing the meal. Mexican s would definitely not have this remind them of home. The restaurant layout and design is interesting. Probably better to go here to drink and maybe eat as something to fill your belly but surely not a choice you want if you are looking for an authentic mexican experience. The tacos are average. The tuna tostada left you searching for actual tuna. Ingredients are mediocre quality from meat to salsas. I reco the owners take a trip to Mexico to remind them of simple things they can do to improve their dishes.

Its says 4 Sol & 4 Tromba on the menu for $44, but the bartender said they dont have it at this location. I wonder why its completely dead and why have it on the menu if you dont serve it?

It s my first time coming here, we had a reservation for a surprise birthday party and Emily (our server) was very nice and kind. Made sure that we got our food on time and continuously checked in on us. On top of that, the honey mushroom quesadilla was very very yummy, would recommend everyone to try!! Their cocktails were also very delicious, I would definitely come back for a cute dinner date with my partner :)

Booked this place for my friend s surprise bday last night for a large group and I couldn t ask for better service! Emily was our server and she was so kind and patient with our group. Service was quite good. Everyone chips in to take order, bring food, clear plates so cant call out a specific person but really good teamwork to make sure you felt taken care of. Food was ok, nothing that made me say Id go back. Generous guac on nachos though. Corn soft taco shells became mushy and fell apart. (Taco pricing is for one taco). Churros were delicious! Came out warm and crispy with chocolate sauce - best part of meal.

This spot offers great drinks, and while their dishes are creative and conceptually interesting, they could use a bit more flavor to really stand out.

Went here for Cinco de Mayo yesterday with some friends. Had a great experience there. They have some good food and drink specials. The music was great and the atmosphere is always welcoming. We had a whole gamut of tacos, and all of them were tasty and fresh. The elote (Mexican street corn) was just ok. The cobs could be bigger and the flavours should be more pronounced. The main thing I wanted to point out was the amazing service we received from our waiter (Shahbaz). He was extremely attentive, had a great sense of humour and was very warm. It made our experience there that much better. Ive ordered 5-6 times through Uber over the years, and visited 2-3 times in the last year in person. Well definitely continue to visit yalls restaurant. Great establishment.

Firstly, I need to start off by saying, Eddy, is so wonderful and accommodating. If you have a celebration, THIS La Carnita is the place to host it! I just had my 30th birthday celebration here last night, and it was just the BEST!!! (I also had my 24th birthday at this La Carnita location as well, and they absolutely do not disappoint.) I want to give a shout out to our incredibly lovely server, Shahbaz, who was just the sweetest, thank you so much for everything! Thank you to the wonderful bartender as well, who is now best friends with my mom apparently?!? (Haha!) La Carnita is where it s AT! Great food, great music/vibes and the most exceptional service! I had the best 30th birthday ever. Thanks again, guys, I ll be back again soon!!! :)

Food was ok, a bit spicy. Not much on the dine in menu other than tacos. They have a great take out menu but because we were dining in there we were not allowed to order a burrito which was on their pick up menu but not on their dine in menu. Makes no sense. Wheelchair accessibility: I do believe their bathrooms are downstairs.

A fun place with a hip vibe for a Saturday night. Food tastes great, a modern twist on Mexican. Pulled pork taco is fantastic as is the street corn. Nice selection of drinks as well. I would recommend La Carnita.

I was here on Saturday with my fiancé and I had the pollo frito chicken tacos, and they were delicious! Our server Bonnie was also SO kind and friendly, she really made the dinner fun. Will definitely be coming back for tacos.

Terrible experience from when we walked in. Hostess was extremely rude, our server was nice but never came. We had to ask for individual items from our order bc they kept forgetting. Never came to ask for drinks or anything, we would ask, then it would never come. Horrible service - do not go.

Me and my girlfriends came here for drinks and some food. We had three margaritas and nachos. In the middle of our third margarita we were OFFERED a promotional shot and we accepted. About ten minutes later, our waitress informed us that the bartender (who we had never spoken or had any encounter with that night), had cut us off. Tables next to us were visibly drunk and rowdy so that makes sense as to why we were cut off -however - no one next to us was We asked the waitress as to why we were cut off and she said it was because we looked young and the bartender didn t know if we could handle a shot. We are paying, respectful customers and are LEGALLY OF AGE to drink, and we were EXTREMELY confused as to why we were declined service. Will NOT be returning. Save your money, go to joeys (their happy hour doesn t last ten minutes)

I have been there 2 times. both times the service and the food was really bland and nothing good about it. The cocktail menu is so limited. Only the who shot ya cocktail which had bourbon and pomegranate was good. The rest is not really something special. The waitress also was not really friendly.

Ive been going to La Carnita for the past five years, frequenting various branches until I settled on this one over the last year. Sadly, each visit leaves me more disappointed than the last. Some of the waitstaff appear disinterested, which affects the overall experience. While initially drawn in by the delicious drinks, even those have become mediocre lately, despite the premium prices, you get a sports bar cocktail. The food, particularly the wings, fails to meet expectations I couldnt even finish them. Its regrettable that the neighborhood cant enjoy this location as much as the others.

I was there a week or so ago, and she went out of her way to give me suggestions when I couldnt decide what I wanted and my bf was no help lol. She also makes some yummy cocktails. Service was good, and the staff were friendly. The establishment was clean and nice. The food was awful, probably the worst non-fast food Mexican food I ever had. They clearly walked across the road to the lawblaws to get every aspect of their tacos. The tacos were served cold, not even bothering to heat their tortillas. The pineapple was clearly from a can and still soggy from its juices. The tacos were overly saucy. As far as prices go these are also some of the most expensive tacos in Toronto, going for between $7.50-$8.50 per taco. That s a huge chunk of change for someone who could just walk across the street and make a better taco for themselves for 80% less $$$. Also had the queso fundido, which is more like a stadium nacho cheese than a real fundido. We had to get a snack after eating here to cover up the taste of the food. I m talking B-A-D bad! Would not recommend the food here at all. I don t know if anyone there has even tasted a real taco, and if they have then why would they do such injustice to the craft. 1/10 will never eat again. Vegetarian options: They have mushroom and vegan chorizo options. If you ve had beyond meat chorizo then you know that your next trip to the washroom will be spicy.

Shared a bunch of apps, nachos, onion rings and the shrimp and everything was incredible....the onion rings were next level. Our server, MC was great. Only complaint is that the restaurant is incredibly cold. Will be back!

Been here in the summer and it was much better experience. Today the service seemed off and we waited more than usual and it wasn t even that busy . Portions seem even smaller than before . We both went across the street to get burgers after this .

The food was simply outstanding, with a diverse menu catering to all tastes. Personal favorites as a vegetarian included the honey mushroom quesadillas, Mexican street corn (a must-have!), Queso fundito was a standout dish! The vegan options, such as the sweet potato taco and vegan chorizo taco, were equally delicious and satisfying. For non vegetarians the table ordered the carne asada taco & they enjoyed them. The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, perfect for a gathering with friends or family. Dont miss out on the delicious churros for dessert! The drink selection was also top-notch, with refreshing beers like Sol and Dos Equis, and the Dizzie Rascal cocktail was a delightful choice. Overall, La Cartina exceeded my expectations in every way, and I cant wait to return. Highly recommended! Vegetarian options: Amazing vegan/ vegetarian options! Parking: There is street parking opposite to the place, and there is a green p close to it

We didn t love it. Not authentic Mexican. They I fused Mexican with Indian flavours and not done well might I add we love both Indian and Mexican but this infusion wasn t for us.

Their portions were very small, but the flavours of the tacos I got were great. I probably wouldnt come back here as I feel like its not worth it (due to portion size). Service was great as well!

I ordered Mexican corn via ubereats. The corn arrived with no cheese, doused in sour cream. No seasoning. The vegan bowls had similarly skimped on ingredients.

I visited this restaurant yesterday, after reading some Google reviews. There werent many customers, probably because it was a Tuesday night, but the poor quality of service made me rethink whether I should recommend this place to others. The waitress seemed to be in a bad mood and was quite rude when she took away my plates without asking if I were still eating, which I was. She also told me that the restaurant was closing when it actually had an hour left before the closing time. Based on my bad experience, I would not recommend this restaurant. However, other reviewers might have had a better experience or luck.

First time dining here and it was an ok experience. I went on a Thursday for dinner and the service was slow and hard to get the staffs attention. If youre looking for some good tacos I would suggest other places that are worth the price because these tacos were pricey pricey. Just my opinion! My friends and i got a pitcher of sangria to share but it was so small. Felt ripped off.

La carnita used to be one of the best taco places in Toronto back in the day Went yesterday after 2 years and man the quality has deteriorated. Tortillas were cold and the pork belly pastor had more pineapples than pork lol. Paying $8 for a tiny morsel of pork on a single taco? LOL Don t get me wrong I m not asking for you to overload it with meat but a taco is about balance - tacos last night from la carnita were not

Recently dined at La Carnita, and it was an exceptional experience! The atmosphere was inviting, creating a perfect setting. The food was a true highlight from delicious tacos to what I can confidently say were the best nachos ever. The flavors were outstanding, and the overall quality surpassed expectations. Kudos to La Carnita for delivering an outstanding dining experience. Highly recommend!

We hosted an event here last week and Eddy and his team were amazing, so accommodating and the service was excellent!

I dont think my kids will give tacos another try after this experience. Food was cold - like it had been sitting out and forgotten about and tasted disgusting. Too much lime in everything. Service was VERY slow and they dont come back to ask how everything is. Worst meal we have had out in a long time.

Great atmosphere and the taco deal on Tuesday was delicious and great. Will say it s a bit overpriced, especially the pitcher sangria for $50 is quite underwhelming on taste and was incredibly small ( we asked for 6 glasses but could barely split it into 3, wish we had gotten a heads up about that).

Naitik is great! My husband and I went for dinner and he was our server. Eddy the manager was really nice too, he came by to check on us to make sure our night was good. Tacos were delicious and our favourite was the 8 spice shrimp appetizer!

The ambience is great. Good music and good atmosphere. Food wise, not so much. The tortilla taco was old and the meat was bit hard to chew.

The staff was friendly and provided excellent service. The cozy atmosphere added to the overall enjoyable dining experience. Ill definitely be coming back for more tasty tacos!
