This place had a charming and welcoming atmosphere. The vibes were great, and our server, Daniela, was exceptional friendly, attentive, and consistently checked in to make sure we had everything we needed.

I had the most amazing time at papi chulo s. My server Daniela was so sweet and had the best recommendations. She really made the experience better than I expected. She told me about the ho ho how 2.o shot and I enjoyed it a lot. I also got the shrimp tacos and birria 10/10. And the aesthetic was beautiful. It was a great time.

Good for photos. Drink was okay. Food average. Bartender is helpful. But one of the servers was rude. The waiting system is very disorganized. Basically, no wait list system, if you are lucky you got a spot. Even they keep your name on the list, it means nothing. You would be advised to come back after 1 hr and till that point it s still based on your luck. if there is empty you got a spot. If not then you are just wasting time. 10/10 for the over the top Christmas decorations. We took some great photos. Drinks look cute but taste cheap. If you are aiming for social media photos, go for it. If you are aiming for a nice dinner and drink, not recommend. I won t go back.

A Great Spot for a Mexican Vibe! Papi Chulo s Mistletoes and Margaritas Cafe in downtown Toronto is a fantastic place to enjoy good food and an even better vibe. The menu is delightful, and the food lived up to the hype it was worth the $100 for two. The atmosphere is vibrant, with amazing Mexican music setting the tone for a fun and lively experience. The staff was friendly and efficient, adding to the overall positive experience. However, be prepared to wait it took about an hour to get seated. Despite that, the energy and ambiance made it well worth it. Highly recommend if you re in the mood for great food and a festive vibe! Vegetarian options: Not much but you can try their corn.

Waited about an hour to get a table of 4 on a Friday night. Nicely decorated for the Christmas season. Tacos and wings were fairly priced and decent. They played good reggaeton

Not the greatest place line up was ridiculous plus the waitress told us that we had an hour and a half to eat/drink. This was suppose to be a Christmas pop-up and that wasn t the case! Food wasn t great neither.

Mistletoes & Margaritas is such a fun and festive experience! The place is decked out in christmas decorations in every corner! The place does get pretty busy over the holidays so do expect a wait. You can choose to wait at the bar so at least you can avoid waiting outside in the cold and order a few drinks while you wait. I got the spicy coconut margarita and I have to say it was my favourite drink I ve order in a long time! What s also great about this Christmas Bar is that it s also a full restaurant meaning you can actually order a full meal instead of just cocktails and apps. I got the Papi s Supreme Fries which were okay. I also got the Birria taco which was really good! Overall, I think its definitely one of the best christmas bars in the city and I would go back!

Highly recommend and worth the wait in line!

My 3 friends and I went here as a walk in. The host was pretty rude. I understand the industry is busy and we didn t make a reservation so I understand the stress of the Christmas season. We asked to be added on a wait list and she took our name and said it would be 45 minutes and that we were allowed to wait at the bar. As she was about to seat us the security came in saying her friends were waiting for the bar so we couldn t be sat. Totally fine, we asked to put a number down for our wait list and the host said we don t take numbers you can wait outside I ll call your name it was pouring rain so just sucked because my friends and I were really excited for the Christmas theme style.

As far as I can tell papi chulos has a new menu in 2024. Tacos are larger but fewer on a plate, quality has improved from great to even better. Mary was my server and her service reflects the upbeat festive atmosphere of the space.

The food is amazing every time and the pitchers remind me of mexico. The christmas decorations make it my fav seasonal sport in TO. Mary was the best server 10/10

Second time here and definitely worth the wait! We came during the Christmas season so everything is beautifully decorated, and Instagram worthy. the tacos are fresh served hot. Gluten allergy? Celiac disease? BEWARE! I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant this evening due to a serious gluten allergy. Despite confirming multiple times with the staff that the items labeled GF on the menu were indeed gluten-free, I am now suffering from a severe allergic reaction. Its incredibly frustrating and unsafe that they labeled these items as gluten-free when they clearly were not. Gluten allergies, like mine, are a serious health concern, not a fad, and this kind of negligence is unacceptable. I strongly urge the restaurant to take greater care in ensuring that food labeled as gluten-free is actually safe for those with allergies, or remove the labelling all together. Besides that, the food was mediocre at best. There are definitely better Mexican restaurants in the city offering better food at a better price. The Christmas decorations were cute, but honestly, they seem to be the main reason this place gets so much hype.

Had an awful experience last night as a group of my friends were hoping to go to this Christmas pop-up yard. The lineup was at least 30 to 50 people along on the street in the frigid cold. They do not take reservations. Overhyped, overpriced. Disappointed, avoid at all costs during this Christmas season.

So gross. Why would you go here when there are so many great options on this incredible street.

Daniella is one of the only reasons we come here. Her hospitality is amazing, and she makes us feel so welcome. The holiday deco is amazing, but the employees are what brings us back.

The chicken tacos are smoked and slow cooked to perfection, the birria is some of the best weve ever had, and the drinks are super creative! Our hostess Yirley was amazing and even gave us a little hot sauce to take home because we loved it!

My husband and I visited Papi Chulos with 4 other individuals to check out the Christmas pop-up. We arrived around 7:30pm and were told we d have a 30 minute wait for a table. We were finally seated at 9:20pm. We ordered our food and during the middle of our dining, the waitress, Dani, came over and asked one of our guests to give up his chair for another party which was so unprofessional. Dani had a really bad attitude the entire time including when we were paying the bill. This will be our first and last time coming to Papi Chulos.

I made a reservation through OpenTable over a week ago, but today I received an email notifying me that my reservation had been canceled. I find this cancellation quite unprofessional, especially without any explanation or attempt to accommodate me. As this is my first experience with your establishment, I am disappointed with the lack of communication and customer service. I would appreciate it if you could provide clarity on the reason for the cancellation and offer an alternative solution.

Visited last night. Although we waited a good hour in the freezing cold, the host brought out some festive drinks which was nice. We ordered a few tacos which were amazing!! i then forgot my purse near my table and had walked out and started walking maybe a few minutes. the host ran out and brought me my purse which was so nice of her. it was freezing cold and she was so kind to do this. i wouldn t have expected her to. so appreciative

I usually hate Christmas but I loved this place. The decor was really fun, mixed with really cool non-Christmas music. We arrived quite late in the evening but the service was quick, warm and attentive. The tacos were also all sincerely delicious. I d definitely go again!

Went there this weekend, i found the prices to be insane for the amount of food you get. This picture bellow is worth $76 not including taxes. $17 for 2 small tacos, that were very unseasoned, especially for birria tacos, and paired with water downed consomé. we also got a platter to share that had 4 small mozzarella sticks, 4 small jalepeno poppers and a couple of french fries that was literally $21. it s absurd to charge people this much and think that s it s reasonable. i don t mind paying this much for actual good food, but i think this place just takes it a little too far.

Tacos were ok, but kind of tasteless and some were served cold. Very over the top with Christmas decorations - if thats your vibe, you might like it.

Went here yesterday with a friend. While we were there, I accidentally spilled a full drink reaching for a napkin. The staff were incredibly helpful with cleaning it up. However, when the bill came they had charged me $18 for the drink. I understand its to the restaurants discretion, but in general, restaurants should compensate customers for accidents that happen while dining. When I asked the waitress about it, she refused to take it off the bill. Great atmosphere, but if you re going to nickel and dime me for a mistake, cant recommend going here.

As a Christmas lover I was so excited to go here! However, I was left disappointed in the way my friend and I was treated. He accidentally spilled his drink (which mind you was $18 before tax and tip). When it came time to pay the bill I asked the waitress the drink had spilled would it be possible to comp to and she very rudely just gave me the machine to just pay for it. If she nicely had said I can maybe discount it I would have been okay and understood but to give attitude and just be like pay for it was extremely unprofessional. Due to that I will not be going back!!

I loved it, it is decorated beautifully, everything is very Christmassy and the attention of the girl named Paula is highly recommended, since we arrived even though there were many people she worried about assigning us a table, I highly recommend it!!!

daniella is the best server ever! it was my first time there and service was easy and quick! the food itself was great and so was the atmosphere.

After many visits to papi chulos, I have had to change my review. My friends and I have visited again after all the holiday decor has been added so we understood with the trendy new look that it would take longer for us to get in.. however waiting 2 hours after being told it was an hour wait was a bit much. We noticed people who were being seated at the bar were then being moved to full tables when one would open up even thought they had JUST lined up while the many of us have been waiting for soooooo long. After this mishap we ordered food and noticed the items we usually order when going to papi chulos wasnt quite what weve had before. The consistency is just not there, which is unfortunate because I recommend all my friends to go there for food. After all of this we were told we were almost at our 90 min seating limit (which I completely understand) however many tables who had been seated way before us were still being served and had not paid or left yet. All of this has left a sour taste in my mouth and made me not want to return, even after recommending the spot to so many people already. The new holiday decorations and beautiful and the servers are still quick and friendly so no complaints there at all but overaol I had to change my 5 star rating to a 3 after this experience.

How wonderful Tacos are

This restaurant is an absolute joke. We arrived at 7:30pm and went on the list for a table for 3. We were told there was 1 table in front of us and to wait inside. By 8pm we asked the host if we could go to the bar to have a drink while we waited, she said she d have to check and let us know. She went to check and came back to the host stand and started speaking to other people. We didn t want to bug her so we waited a few minutes and asked about standing at the bar, she said it was too full so we continued to wait. She then went on to allow 2 people who walked in to stand at the bar. We then, after 40 minutes of waiting and seeing numerous tables being sat, asked again if we could stand at the bar while we waited, she said yes but not to block the pathway. We then saw a table of 4 leave so I went to the front to ask her if we could have their table and she said there was a table that had it reserved DESPITE their Instagram and website saying they don t take reservations. We obliged and continued to wait while we saw more and more tables being sat. While we waited at the bar, we ordered $18 margaritas which we saw them pouring out of a premade cocktail jar if I m paying $18 for a drink, it should be made to order, especially at a Mexican spot. This all being said, we waited another 15 minutes for a table and still weren t sat. I proceeded to go onto their Instagram page and let people know about our experience. I posted a comment about their poor customer service, premade cocktails, and our experience and they decided to BLOCK me and delete my comment on Instagram. I honestly have not had such a terrible experience at a restaurant ever. I would avoid this spot like the plague.

Went to Papi Chulos for the Christmas pop-up.. 1st time there. Never seen anything decorated the way they did for Christmas, It was so cool ..we waited by the bar for about 10 mins until we got seated. The holiday drinks were so good, alittle pricey but worth it :) we also had the Nachos and Birria tacos they were so delicious they were the best we ever had, packed with meat and brought out so hot and fresh! Our waitress Daniella was so sweet very attentive . Over all loved the music and holiday vibes . Cant wait to go back :)

I went for their Christmas market, the drinks were not very tasty. My friend has a smoky margarita. I had the Christmas margarita. They were lacking. We left shortly after we consumed half of our drinks. The spot is tiny, but the decor is 10 out of 10.

Had my first experience here, I m coming from Mississauga. Yirley was amazing! She took care of us so well and was quick with all of our orders even when it was busy! Would def come back again!

The place seemed to be good however we didn t really had a good experience. With christmas around the around, we understand the waiting time and patience any guests or the restaurant staff has to go. The hostess asked us to wait for 30 mins approx. we waited and waited and waited almost till 50 mins. On asking, first she told us 10 mins, then she told us you guys are second in line, and the third time she is telling us we are third in line. Why ? Because the people who wrote their names in the list didn t show up earlier, on coming later the hostess is adding them into the queue and giving them a seat and making us wait. You cannot push the guests in the line who were added before but didn t show up at their own timing, or calls. The hostess was rude and didn t really bother.

Have you experienced what Toronto is all about? No, you haven t. Not until you visit Papi s. When you visit Papi Chulo s you re immediately treated as family. As Americans visiting, they treated us like we were a regular, creating immersive conversations and made our entire experience amazing. It was hands down the best time we ve had in Toronto. I can t wait to move to Canada and come here every day.

Paola was so kind, I love her energy. On top of the great service and music, the drinks especially the Pink Flaminko and Mezcal Tropical were mucho perfecto.

Ive been to this restaurant many times, but my last two visits were disappointing. The food quality and flavour were not up to par. Both the chicken and beef tacos were dry and lacked taste. Even the margaritas seemed weaker than before. Im not sure what changed in the last two months, but this restaurant used to be my favourite taco spot, and now its not.

unique mexican themed bar !! they have a huge drink menu & even better food menu. i tried many drinks here including the shark attack (comes with a cute ducky toy that i took home) and also a little vodka shot taste test platter. they have patio and indoor seating, clean bathrooms & friendly staff. def worth the visit. btw the decor here is amazing! especially during christmas time.

Was walking down Ossington and this place popped out to me! As soon as I walked in the door even just to check the menus I was greeted right away and welcomed into the restaurant/ Bar. The colours and the vibe immediately hit the spot and I was ready for some tequila. Unfortunately they were out of the FIRST CLASS tequila flight which caught my eye but I was immediately turned back on with a classic marg that hit the spot. I also ordered the Nachos with chicken. They were able to accommodate my food needs and they were SO SO SO GOOD. My bartender and host were incredible if you are looking for a quick drink or a quick bite this is the place! There is a 90 minute limit on your time there as it is a smaller bar to accommodate for everyone which is fair! I enjoyed and you will too!

The vibes were *chefs kiss* So glad we stumbled into this place on Ossington. Two thumbs up for the El Chapo s burger and the jalapeno poppers. And look at how cute they prepare this drink (the shark attack).

Had a horrible time here food was TRASH! Had the ceviche and I would feed that to no one. Worst ceviche I ve ever had an portion was super little for $20! Crazy. Drinks were mediocre at best and the atmosphere was super sketch it. Paid and left so many spots in Toronto wouldn t recommend at all.

I would never recommend a person to eat here I ordered a fish taco and it was sooo bland for the price.

Good atmosphere but the ceviche was honestly so bad. Full shrimp, large cucumber, and orange slices that you re expected to scoop with your tortilla chips? Fish tacos were good and the lemon pepper wings were very good. But seriously please fix the ceviche.

Then a couple arrived and they were given water and a menu before my girlfriend and I. I think they forgot about us because they were gossiping but that doesnt justify it. Avoid this place if you re planning to socialize with friends. The rigid time makes it impossible to enjoy a leisurely meal. How can you reasonably expect to be seated, order food and drinks, pay the bill, and leave within 1 hour? The restrictive rules and rude servers only add to the frustration. Needless to say, I won t be returning.

Stopped in for dinner on Friday night. Very pleasant atmosphere with great service. The food was very good. Enjoyable experience!

Absolute respect to the staff. The place was more crowded than a Queen concert at Wembley in 1985. Overcrowded and there was literally no space to walk or breathe, yet the staff managed to bring us our food. Never seen such a smart team and Ive been to a lot of places

The manager is here , what ever we say , she say OK, they never bring fork , fir 5 of us 1 fork, I complain that why meat is cold and she said why did you took the first bite. All glass was dirty. Awfull, dirty , they never provide fork at the end, they said sorry our fork is dirty .

Good restaraunt great atmosphere

I was seated outside for 10 minutes, servers coming and going, no one even said a word to me until I asked and they told me they made last call 10 minutes ago. I understand they close earlier when the place is dead, but ignoring someone who s already seated till the point they have to ask or just stand up and leave is wild.

It was 11 oclock and they didnt serve us anymore because they closed at 12 pm its good that they close the kitchen but it took them a while to serve and they never came close to say that they would no longer provide service hahahaha

Beer was spilled by staff in bucket and they blamed us and charged us for the same. The server was rude. Our bill was over $400, why would we lie for $8 beer spilled in bucket.

Fantastic Birria tacos! If you are in the area it s a must visit.

Although the menu has GF listed on the items, it s not accurate. Most of the appetizers come with house-made tortilla chips, which are fried in the same oil as the beer-battered fish, so they are covered in gluten. Yet they are all marked GF on the menu. We ordered the ceviche and I told them I have a gluten allergy and asked if they could provide an alternative to the chips. They acted like I was an inconvenience. I mean if they re going to mark the items GF, they should have actual GF options! Anyway, they gave me uncooked corn tortillas. Not very nice. They didn t even warm them. The ceviche itself was very good, so I ate it without the raw tortillas. I had the Al Pastor tacos, and found the meat quite dry. My friend had the biria tacos, which were quite tasty. Quite disappointing because Mexican is usually a safe choice for celiacs. Most restaurants that make house-fried tortilla chips and offer GF options will have GF packaged tortillas for just such an occasion. Listing GF on the menu and then acting like it s a big imposition when I want the food to be *actually* gluten free so I don t get violently ill is a great way to drive away customers. The place is so loud, I could barely hear my friend across the table from me. We waited a long time for someone to take our order even though there were very few customers in the restaurant and lots of staff milling about. Overall, I wouldn t go back. There are soooo many other restaurant options along that strip of Ossington, north of Queen. Dietary restrictions: Inaccurate Gluten Free indications on menu. Appetizers marked GF even though house-made chips are fried in oil with gluten-containing items.

I got the birria tacos, they were ok. They were falling apart as soon as they were served (1 shell only). Took the 2nd one back home and jazzed it up later. No one asked me how everything was after a few bites. Taco, beer and tip was 35$ for myself.

Had an amazing experience at Papi Chulo s! Our server, Nuzhat, was incredibly friendly and attentive, ensuring my cilantro allergy was handled perfectly something most places don t do. The Birria Tacos were fantastic, and her recommendation of the spicy margaritas was spot-on. We ll definitely be returning!

My favorite place to stop by on Ossington. The staff and atmosphere are an absolute delight. The mezcal margarita is wonderful, and the jalapeño poppers are the best Ive ever had. (And they have margarita towers. I mean...come on) Always a reliable good time. Treat yo self. Go here.

I have gone to Papi Chulo s a couple times and I find that the food and the drinks are OK. Last night, I decided to get some drinks with some friends and unfortunately, one of the was badly made with too much syrup so unfortunately, it wasn t drinkable for my partner. We tried to send it back after taking one sip and replace it for a different drink. The waitress said she would take it off the bill and replace it with a different drink because we didn t consume it, but at the end of the night when the bill came, the drink was still on the bill and asked she said she wouldn t take it off as it wasn t, her issue and unfortunately because of this experience, I wouldn t go back even though I ve gone a couple times simply because it doesn t make any sense to have to pay for a drink You didn t consume specially when you were willing to pay for a different item. -to the reply from the owner: no the drink was not consumed, a sip was taken and we asked to switch it right away and your waitress (long curly black hair)didn t take it away just left it on the table (despite us asking you to take it so we could switch for another drink) and it wasn t drank by anymore. Terrible service, lack of accountability and liars too!

I went to papi chulos on Saturday and although it was busy the service was great!! Gaby was attentive and very sweet, she recommended the besito drink and it has to be one of my favourites! Will definitely be going back

Love the interior here! It s a great vibe. Food is pretty good too. The corn on the cob appetizer is delicious. We also ordered birria tacos both times we visited- tasted great the first time. Second visit they were pretty dry. Chicken tacos were on point though. Had decent service both times as well.

After spending over $200 on drinks, our group of 4 got kicked out when we were trying to order another round for the table. I completely understand having a 90min time limit if people aren t ordering more & there s a line; however, as paying customers wanting to spend MORE money, I just don t understand this. There also wasn t a line. Some of our party have been here numerous times, others it was the first time; none of us would come back though, & we ll make sure to tell our friends not to either.

An amazing experience. We ordered birria taco and two cocktails, both of which were amazing surprises. The birria taco is the best taco Ive ever had in my life... Its so juicy. Its full of stewed beef. The chili sauce is amazing, one red and one green jalapeno, and it goes great with taco. It comes with a broth and coriander on top. taco is not crunchy. Eat very contentedly. And two cocktails that were surprisingly delicious!! I ordered a strawberry jalapeno margarita. Its a nice mix of sweet and sour and spicy. It was a surprise, a lot of flavor, very interesting to taste. The spicy taste is not strange at all, mainly the sweet and sour taste of strawberries, the dip in the paprika at the mouth of the cup is also very interesting, it tastes sour and salty, and can not stop drinking it! My friend ordered a cocktail of grapefruit and lime, which was also delicious! It tastes full of fresh grapefruit. nice. Its just very crowded at Friday night, its full of seats, and the waiters are very busy.

I want to start by saying that in general I dont like to say bad things for the sake of saying them and thats why I write it in Spanish so it will probably stay between us, I have worked in the hospitality industry for 10 years and when something is wrong, it must be said so that it can improve . I went on Saturday night with 2 friends, I took them there because they had recommended this place to me, we didnt have a reservation but they seated us inside pretty quickly; We were served by a very sweet girl but notably not well trained, she didnt even know what type of wines they sold by the bottle, she very kindly went to the bar to ask. The truth is understandable, the menu only says red or white wine, first red flag. Then she explained to us that she couldnt sell it by the bottle only by the glass, and I thought maybe they didnt have bottles, we understand that the LCBO is on strike now, however one of my friends ordered a glass of white and they gave her the wine in a glass of water with a dirty rim. My friend asked for a drink and they told her they didnt have any, she insisted and a boy gave her a glass of Martini, second red flag. You may think well, even though the menu says they sell wine, what are you doing by ordering wine in a Mexican restaurant, order margaritas! Well, my other friend and I ordered mango margaritas and to my deepest disappointment, it was the WORST margarita I have ever had in my life. Read well, in my life. Saturday night, the restaurant was not full, it tasted like sachet juice and watery by the way, the only thing that was half good was the rim, which was delicious but my God. In a Mexican restaurant, margaritas like this should be prohibited, third red flag. Then I ordered the typical Mexican elote and one of my friends the puerquito sandwich, both rich in flavor. The pork was remarkably well prepared, but the problem is that they brought us the food without cutlery and when we asked for it they gave us only one and again you may think but you eat corn with your hands, not all of us eat with our hands and even less so if we dont. There is neither sanitizer nor wet napkins available, fourth red flag, then it occurred to me to go to the bathroom and on the way back I see that in the kitchen they had the corn without any type of lid or refrigeration fifth red flag. In the end, the server who served us, I guess they sent her home because another girl who was also very friendly charged us. After having seen how things are in the kitchen, we didnt order anything else. I do not recommend and would not return to this place.
