Amazing authentic Mexican restaurant! The Sopa Azteca was delicious, filling and super rich in tomato flavour. The staff were warm and welcoming and the interior decor was vibrant with colours and fun to be in. Highly recommend!

This was our 2nd visit XOLA., with about a year in between visits. We found it very expensive and the value just wasn t there. We started with appetizers and then ordered the duck dish from the main section which was on the menu for $29.95. It was a very small serving,over priced and over-rated. Our total meal for 2 was $122.67 including tip and we left hungry.

This is my second time coming here.The first time was great! Good service and food. The second time I was expecting the same thing but unfortunately I was met with bad service and bland food. I was ignored and not treated with respect. I will not be going back and do not recommend eating here!

Delicious and interesting menu, the ceviche is unique and fantastic. Space in very small and it can feel cramped.

I am basing my review on a take out order so keep that in mind in the review. I had heard really good things about this restaurant so decided to finally give it a try. First off couldn t find a menu with pricing anywhere online except for DoorDash so I don t know how much the prices were inflated on that site. But for almost 30 dollars for an order of tacos dorado I almost ordered elsewhere. Very pricy! They were decent tacos, better than average but not stupendous. Maybe this is because they weren t eaten hot out of the kitchen, after tax, charges, tip it was almost 50 bucks for meal I was still slightly hungry afterwords. 4 stars on the food, 2 stars on the pricing equates to my 3 str review

Regularly come here with my family (including 9 year old sons) and always have a wonderful time. Phenomenal food, fantastic service, wonderful atmosphere. One of our favourites if not favourite restaurant.

A cute spot with a nice street-front patio to enjoy dinner and drinks. The food was solid and the menu has great variety with some unique flavors. We met the owners (family owned) -- they walked us through the menu, how its prepared, what all the different items were. Main course dishes are expensive, but the portions are large and can definitely be shared.

Amazing!! We stumbled upon this restaurant and it was the highlight of our evening! The food was absolutely phenomenal. We got the Mole Chicken and Haddock. The chocolate sauce was beautiful, licked our plates clean. The service was so friendly and warm, and the atmosphere was very cozy and had great ambience. The rating on this place should without doubt be a 5. Thanks for such a wonderful meal!

Such a cute little find! Cosy authentic Mexican restaurant. Menu was pretty limited and the portions weren t huge for the price, but the food was so fresh and delicious. The mole chicken was divine.

We were looking for an authentic Mexican food and found Xola. The food was really good, drinks also were good an services was amazing. I truly recommend this place .

We end up here by coincidence and we were greatly surprised. The restaurant has a Mexican vibe with Mexican music like Natalia Lafourcade, Ximena Sariñana, or Zoe, so different from others Mexican restaurants in Toronto. We ordered tacos but they were plated beautifully and they give the tortillas apart on a tortillero. They serve enough tortillas so you don t even have to ask for more and they taste really good. We ordered duck confit and barbacoa tacos they looked and were delicious. The only but is that you may need appetizers otherwise just the main could not be enough.

Really good. Though I wouldn t recommend the $8.50 salsa and chips - it s good, but the salsa is really small and not worth the $8.50.

The food was delicious, the best Mexican food experience of many restaurants I have been to in Toronto; the only one that has given me the authentic flavor. Very good customer service but it can be improved even more. A lot of potential to be one of the best Latin restaurants in the city. Improve and decorate a little more appropriate to the Mexican style to have a better atmosphere. I will definitely go again to try more food from this restaurant.

Amazing food and staff. Loved the salmon guacamole and chips as well as the barbacoa. Be sure to try their hot sauce on the side $$$

To echo some other reviews here, the customer service is dreadful. The complete inability for Xola to greet, seat, and/or waitlist people is stunning in its failure.

Small whole in the wall place with amazing food, and I have been to quite a few Mexican places in and around the GTA (including Mad Mexican and El Catrin) and I think their quality is superior. They also have a wide variety of tequilas and cocktails.while the food is VERY expensive considering the small portions I find this is common with alot of Mexican restaurants (not sure if its because there are alot of expensive ingredients...) anyway the food was still delicious

Overpriced for their poor and unfriendly customer service, the server was super rude to us, I a really DO NOT recommend this place, save your money and your time, it is NOT WORTH IT.

Are you telling me this is authentic mexican food?? It is a Joke, the service provided to me and my friends was horrible the server super rude, never came to check on us and their prices are not worth it to their portions, they try to look as a gourmet restaurant (they wish) . Trust me guys, you can find way better places than this one, save your money and DO NOT waste your time.

XOLA is the perfect example when you think of mom and pop. As a small restaurant, it can seemingly be tough to get a spot there, but if you can, you wont leave disappointed. Whether its the ceviche, the pulpo, or the duck, each dish was more delicious than the last. There is plenty left to try out here so expect to be back very shortly.

The food is truly incredible. The duck tacos were so delicious that I could cry. The family who runs Xola are lovely. The margaritas are perfect too.

My friends and I stopped by this restaurant on a whim and had such a pleasant experience! The vibe was colourful, and the music playing was immaculate. All of the dishes were a win! We ordered the fish tacos, chips with bleu cheese guac, mango lemonade, strawberry lemonade, and some cocktails. Delicious, not a single miss. So good that I forgot to take pics lol. Definitely coming back for the fish tacos and drinks.

Honestly I ve been here quite a few times now and it s been amazing each time. Always trying something new and getting classic dishes like the habanero ceviche and blue cheese walnut guacamole

Very unfortunately, despite having called in advance and assured that there would be a table available for us, upon arrival, we were turned away. We had driven 45 minutes, walked 20 minutes, with 1 toddler and 1 35-week pregnant woman in tow. We were excited, and had been looking forward to dining at Xola for weeks. We were hungry, cold and tired. Kindness, empathy, humanity, and respecting one s word were qualities lacking.

The flavours were great, super small portions. We got the cochinita pabil which was tiny and not hot, and mole chicken delicious but literally so small, and the tiniest bowl of rice, and the octopus was tough. Nothing came out hot. It s a cute local restaurant but the portions are honestly laughable we all left hungry.

Amazing and authentic Mexican food. We had the soup and grilled cheese and it tasted fantastic. Will be going back for sure.

Good food. The quesadillas were quite good as was the lamb, Baja fish tacos were just ok. A bit over priced I think so Im not sure that well run back, but its great to have good authentic Mexican food around the corner.

The food is incredible and the staff are friendly and clearly care about your experience. They have excellent ceviche and I recommend the arrachera which is cooked beautifully and comes with delicious sides. I dont think that you can go wrong with anything on their menu.

Ok.if you have a passing fancy for Mexican food then go somewhere else. This mom and Pop run eatery has the best Meican offerings in the City. Tucked away at the east end of Queen St this spot serves up authentic specialties only found at this location. I tried my first Amores Mescal Margarita, and now Im hooked. Tequila has nothing on this savory smoky cocktail. Reservations are recommended as its small and demand is high.

Exceptional food. All the dishes we ordered were fabulous.

I only have all praises for the food, presentation, and setting. I have gotten to try the Grasshopper Taco ($14), and they are such a treat. They are not as exotic as it looks to be. It came out crunchy, savoury, and a little bit of sour due to the complementary lime that comes with it. Another dish I have gotten to try was the Pollo en Pipian ($25.50). It was equally delectable, and good for around 6 or 7 individual portions. The order comes with about that much pieces of soft corn tortillas. The places decor was properly decked out to properly match the Mexican theming of the restaurant. The lady who hosted us also offered very amiable service. She constantly was checking up on us and was friendly to chat a bit and share some interesting trivias about the food and overall culture of the whole dining experience. What fell short was that the location was small and they can only seat very few people at a time. They also do not have a waitlist sign sheet nor do they get your phone number and offer to call once a table is ready. Me and my companion had to wait outside in the cold for about 20 minutes before we were seated. We spent the time walking around and exploring The Beaches neighborhood. Another thing is that the food pricing is on the high-end side. It is good that the food taste, and presentation is equally up to par to match the price tag. I do understand the economics of it all, but it would have been perfect if it was just a little less expensive.

I really love this restaurant , the food is amazing and the drinks are sooo delicious too. The plus of this restaurant other than its fantastic food and drinks are the owners , they are adorable and the place is very nice as well. Definitely my personal favorite in Toronto , I would recommend it to everyone

5 stars across the board. I cannot wait to go back. The food tastes like traditional Mexican and the presentation is wonderful. We got the Baja tacos, soup, wings and the pork tacos. For me, the soup was the winner - the best Ive had in Toronto. The place is small, perfectly located near the beach. There is only about 7 tables inside and they do not take reservations so be prepared to wait a bit. But theres lots of bake shops, icecream and charcuterie stores nearby to checkout while you wait.

It was very tasty but food was overpriced and drinks were WAY overpriced.

We love this place so much. The food is fresh, vibrant and flavourful. We ordered the guacamole that was a classic. The coconut milk ceviche and Sopa Azteca (traditional Mexican soup) were standouts. The Mole and Beef Adobo with soft tortillas were very rich and tasty. The drinks were impactful and made with fresh ingredients including fresh strawberries. We ve been here twice and plan to return again!

A perfect place for a nice summer dinner. Great food, patio space, and good service. Authentic Mexican food so some dishes might not be what you expect (my partner and I personally didnt like the Pollo en Pipian, its quite salty and bitter). But we LOVED the adobo, the grilled cheese, and the hibiscus lemonade. Will be back for sure!!

Waiter was extremely rude and condescending when I asked for his recommendation. He should fired for lack of ability to serve customers. When the food came out, I immediately lost my appetite as there was a hair in the tacos I ordered. Stand clear of this place.

Update, June 2022. Still the bomb! We always love coming here! This is the real deal in Mexican :) Fabulous selection of tequila and mezcal drinks.....and amazing food! Great atmosphere, too!

Hands down my favourite Mexican food in the city. Been going since it opened years ago and I am always impressed with both the quality, taste and service. A must if even if you aren t located in the east end!

Food was excellent

We happened to Google top ten restaurants near us and this Mexican restaurant popped up. We gave it a try truly a family ran restaurant and awesome food! Great service food was quick to be served and there was lots to eat. But nothing came home! If you are in the beaches area and want to try a family ran no chain restaurant give XOLA a try. I will definitely be back!

For un early dinner take out I choose couple of popular plates. Hiwever I was very very disappointed with the bill. Surprisingly misleading because prices on line are extremely different of the ones in your bill at the pickup time, they double up. I asked why that difference, the answer was everything is up now, then asked why they don t clarify the price at the time of ordering NO ANSWERS. $ 60.00 dollars for a couple of supposed popular sandwichs is a no go back anymore.

Excellent Mexican food with huge portions and affordable prices. Loved the duck confit tacos, grilled octopus and grilled Mexican cheese! Horchata was also refreshing and delicious. The place is small so make sure to get there early. Highly recommended!

Very mixed feelings. On one hand, the food quality was very good and the dishes were beautifully served. On the other hand, the price to portion size ratio was not into the restaurant s favour. We ve had experiences that provided more for the same price tag. Another thing was the service itself. It s not that it was bad, but we just did not feel welcome. Nobody was smiling, the atmosphere was tense somehow. That being said, the octopus and the grasshoppers tacos (the main reason why we chose the restaurant for the night) were delicious.

Had an extra spicy veggie burrito with cactus, and it was amazing. If you like spice, they can make it really hot! They gave me an extra hot sauce concoction on the side when I asked if they could make it spicy and I added it to the burrito. Could feel it on my lips for about an hour after eating it. Will definitely be visiting this location again!

A small family run restaurant serving delicious food and great cocktails. We try to have something different every time, but so far nothing has been disappointing. Despite being an hour away, we keep coming back.

We just had a wonderful meal here. It has a lovely intimate aesthetic, it is clearly family owned and operated by people who are genuinely happy to meet you and talk to you and the food is just fantastic. Do not fear that the cuisine here will be bland, cheesy Tex-Mex style Mexican. This was the opposite experience, wonderful dishes and sauces, tender meats and so many flavors. Such a lovely meal, we will return for sure. Very glad to have and recommend this local restaurant.

We ordered delivery using Suppli reusable containers. Tomatillo ceviche, cochinita pibil, Baja fish tacos, guacamole, churros...each dish was better than the last. (The tacos fell apart a little in transit, no fault of the restaurant of course! They were still delicious.) Cannot recommend highly enough, and looking forward to the day when we can visit for in-person dining!

I went here when their patio was open an we really enjoyed it, but we decided to go again because they were so good, and Im sorry to say we were sorely disappointed. Not only was the staff rude, but the food was sub par to say the least. I ordered a dish I ordered the last time and it was completely different, waaay to salty and I could barely finish it I disliked it so much. Every thing we got was barely tolerable, but it was very expensive which wouldnt be bad if it was as good as it was when patios were open. Deffinetly not worth the cost this time around. Its almost like theyre slacking because they re only doing takeout or something. Very sad to have to write this as I really enjoyed their food last time. Very dissapointing.

I cant believe how downhill this place has gotten. The food was amazing a year ago. Now they give tiny portions for a insane price. The entire meal was a letdown. We had the fish taco, chili poblano, guacamole, and chips with salsa. 20$ for half a pepper with very little stuffing inside. 3 tacos with a small bit of fish in each and a pinch of cabbage. The salsas where all sauces. That being said. The chips where good, the guacamole was good (not worth 20$), tacos taisted ok just very little for what you pay for. All in all I gotta say I loved this place before but now I cant believe they even served us what they did we were stuffed and so happy whenever we went there. Now ordering the same food were stuck feeling still hungry and ripped off completely.

YUM! this is our go to Mexican place in Toronto! The food is ALWAYS spot on and their transition to take out because of covid has been fantastic. I cant get enough of their guacamole sampler and the Aztec soup .... Their $60 week-end chicken dinner easily feeds 4 adults. Cant wait for covid to be over so we can go back inside or to their patio!

Amazing! Gave this place a try a few months ago and its turned into our go to Mexican spot! Our favourite dishes are the barbacoa and platanos topped with crema and queso fresco, they are to die for! Weve also tried a handful of other dishes on the menu which were all super yummy! Another plus is that the family that runs this place is super friendly!

Xola had our name on it tonight! Arrived at 5:30 just in time to get a table on their cozy patio. Ordered 3 dishes between the two of us. Food was sooooo good! Had to order a 4th. Great service from the owner. Loved the overheard conversations in the Beach. Everyone walking their doggies and stopping for cones at Ed s next door. A perfect evening with the best Mexican fare in town. Highest recommendation!

Love this place, everything is great!

The food was so good when my husband and I ate here for the first time, that we came back the next night and again with friends the following week. Couldn t get enough and have tried almost the whole menu! Notable dishes have been the coconut milk ceviche, stuffed poblano pepper, grilled cheese (done 2 ways), duck confit tacos, lamb barbacoa and chicken mole. Even the little side sauces and side of black beans are so delicious. Speaking to the owner/chef will give you some background and history and cultural understanding behind her dishes. She shows real passion, confidence and heart about each of her creations - and with every right, as everything is so delicious and special. Try all of the margaritas - mezcal, watermelon, classic - they are all amazing. Our kids came with us on our last visit and they loved the food as well. Highly recommend.

Delicious, unique authentically Mexican dishes with lovely presentation. A treasure.

Yeesh. The table was awfully sticky (several of the plates arrived less than clean). The server was totally missing in action. The guacamole was homemade, but a ridiculously small portion for $15. The wings were a nightmare, imagine a blackberry smoothie poured over steam/baked (i.e. not crispy) wings which had been dressed in ground pepper to the point of mustiness. The crispy string potatoes on the Barbacoa were a highlight, this was a fun texture that I havent seen previously. The baha fish tacos were not worth finishing. Very cramped patio. The owner yelled at a passerby who made the grave error of tossing a bottle in their waste bin. Just overall not a good experience. I feel like the kitchen has potential, but would be best served editing the menu to a much smaller size (and repricing to a better value).

I found the ceviche, which was the owner s recommendation, their own twist, too lemony. One dish had hair in it. I called up the owner, she was serving my table, to show it to her, and her response was: are you sure it s not yours? I then explained to her that I was wearing a hat, so no way it was mine, secondly it s so embedded in the layers of the dish, no way I could put it in there. I truly enjoyed the food, but that attitude left a soar taste. No apologies offered. No attempt to make it right.

A hidden gem! The place is small, I think fits about 20 people BUT what amazing flavours you will find in here!!! We walked in and waited about 15mins for a table, not bad at all... The service was quick and great, we were help by the owners, they were super friendly! The mezcal margaritas are delicious!!! I loved my huaraches!!!

Fantastic home style Mexican food. Best in the city in my opinion! Been here about 10 times and am satisfied every single time.

Best mexican restaurant ive found in the city. Not to mention, its in the beaches, so, eds reap scoop and a walk on the boardwalk post dinner finishes up the night nicely!

Great place to get some unique tacos around the city, including cricket tacos. Tacos were pretty decent; however the cricket tacos had a slight old taste to it. Pricing wise, the offerings are a little on the higher priced side.

Picked up takeout and wow was it good. Ceviche was fresh and tasty, the barbacoa had me licking the container clean. So pleased and happy with the quality of the food and the friendliness of the staff. Definitely on my go to list of restaurants.

Decided to get takeout here because of great reviews on google but was extremely disappointed. Was over charged for food that was ok. As I was paying the waiter walked away and I was not given a receipt. After noticing I paid way too much for just fish tacos and a chicken burrito, I went back to the restaurant and they realized they over charged me so they gave me $4 back randomly without even checking the receipt. It was a very awkward experience. On top of it, the can of coke was warm and the fish tacos were overpriced.

First time coming to Xola. My expectations were somewhat a question mark as I do like Mexican food but during this pandemic thing I did not want to disappoint myself. Well, Xola was fantastic...loved the patio with the umbrellas decorating the tables... Very cool... Then, we started with a delicious sangria... Well it was refreshing and tasty.. perfect for an summer evening. Our appetizer was guacamoles... This dish comes with 3 different guacas, one seasoned as per original, one with blue cheese and caramelized onions (very good) and one seasoned with grasshoppers... Yes.. grasshoppers...loved it. For the mains I had the Barbacoa... WOW.. braised Lamb chunks in a delicious souce and we also had the octopus from the appetizer list which was grilled to perfection..our table also had the fish taco but I did not try... It looked great.

Its DELICIOUS, i loved all the food, tacos dorados, different guacamoles, arrachera, azteca soup, yes I tried all that, and of course in company of a Negra Modelo michelada!!!
