2202 Dundas St W, Toronto, ON M6R 1X3, Canada
Popular local chain outpost for falafels, shawarma wraps, combo plates & daily meal deals.
Me and my husband had a beef wrap here, the staff lady behaviour of serving the dish to us was very rude.. And the food quantity for the price range is really less than the other restaurants…
First time there and they were very welcoming .. would definitely go again!
Worst shawarma poutine u can have for 20 bucks. Little to no gravy
Went in for a chicken shawarma platter had to leave with a wrap because there was no potatoes only a scoop of rice left. Ended up getting the wrap which has nothing in it because they barely had anything to put in it. I want at 7:00 if you still have two more hours of being open make sure you actually have your products & if you are we going to talk about your customers make sure they leave the store first Follow up to this review they have made it up to me and I have not had any problems whatsoever and have changed my two stars to a five stars!! Well I'm back a year later to say that the portion sizes have gone down but the prices have gone up .. very unfortunate
Today has to have been one of my most memorable experiences yet. I've been going to this very location since being a kid. The owner has always been an amazing person and he's always has some pretty decent people working for him. But today the gentleman with long hair went above and beyond with how interactive he was. Making me and my sister feel very welcomed and glad to have walked in. Buddy, I tip my hat to you!! True customer service and the food was exactly how I wanted it. (Get him to teach Lansdowne and Bloor) 😁
Since I went pescatarian middle eastern food has risen to the top of the list. I mostly eat vegetarian options out, just because you can't be too sure how people cook their seafood or where it's sourced from. I love Ali Baba's because I always feel like I'm eating fresh ingredients that are nutritious and delicious.
Excellent place for middle eastern cuisine. Loved their falafel options. Their platter is huge in quantity. staffs are ok abd service is good. hummus is very tasty here.
Their Falafel is amazing, low cost. Great, friendly staff, clean tables, quick visit.
Serves authentic Middle Eastern cuisine with popular dishes such as Chicken Shawarma Platter, Falafel Wrap, and Stuffed Grape Leaves. Known for its attentive service and traditional decor, it offers appetizers, wraps, platters, and desserts.
Amazing food and outstanding customer service
Good value for the money
This is the best shawarma Ive had in toronto so far. They use the freshest ingredients. Absolutely the best.
Your server was argumentative today after he misunderstood my order. I was then shouted at thats not what you ordered as though i was challenging his authority. Bad manners and poor English = we wont be back and no tip for you!!
Thank you to the Wed Feb 21st evening team at Ali Babas Dundas West. Our family gathering shawarma evening was made extra special with your care given to preparation! Great food!!
today i went to get a wrap, when i tapped with my card they told me it didn t go through so i tapped again. it was a bit weird because from the machine it looked like it went through so i quickly checked my bank statements and i was charge twice. when i showed it to them they said i wasn t charge twice and were very certain about it then i called my bank and they told me i was charge 11.29 twice. 11.29 isn t that much but it s still really frustrating that i was told i was wrong. wont be coming back get it together guys.
Modting styll
Good rice chicken and salad its the best
Great food, friendly staff, good prices
Love this one
The best in terms of Shawarma, the rice they prepare is delicious, and the meat is super juicy
Prices have gone up over 40% from the menu still being shown on google from only a few years ago. Food is still generally good though.
Went yesterday(Sunday). They opened at 12noon, not 11:30am. The woman who served me was very pleasant and cheerful. I ordered two falafel wraps to go. They were very tasty and fresh; my friend and I enjoyed them very much. Only quibble: their operating hours need to be updated.
The best shawarma in toronto
The food is clean and delicious and of course price is also reasonable
Always fresh, reliable and delicious! Forget McDonalds, please give me 1000 locations instead! Also this is the best location, hands down. Friendlier, consistent and efficient. I challenge you to find a better location.
Staff could be more friendly and accommodating
Delicious food but not too attractive prices for a shawarma place
Fresh and tasty falafel wraps! Creamy tahini and garlic sauce, add a bit of hot sauce to give it a kick! Great daily specials too!
One of the best locations. Courteous staff, clean and fresh food.
Good healthy food for dine in or take out; location matters...this one at Dundas Street near Ronsensvales is the freshest and has nice staff.
For me the BEST falafel ball and every day have some promotion beef and chicken shawarma is amazing!
Love this location. Probably the most nutrient dense meal per dollar in all of Roncy/highpark. I always get the chicken or beef platter and it s enough for two meals.
Amazing shawarma poutine for a great price, great staff as well
Always legit food when I show up to this spot.
The Shawarma here is delicious + Rice is very tasty! Keep up the hard work! ;D
Smelt good the moment I entered! Shawarma was great, but got pretty messy at the end. You should check it out.
Always great Shwarma!! And the fish dinner is awesome too
I have been going to this location for years and always loved the food. Just had the beef shawarma and its not good at all. I eat lamb and it actually has an aftertaste of lamb. Its dry and no flavour at all. This is so disappointing because the food used to be great.
Poor customer service Hair found in food
Great food friendly staff
The food is good fast and the staff are very helpful
This is the original Ali Babas location and still the best one. Ive tried a few other, and I always say the same thing, the original one is better. Food is always consistent and delicious.
Awesome food and service
Good amount of quality food for a very fair price
Great falafel
worst alibaba restaurant ever... beef shawarma with half a meat that they suppose to put. meat is also crispy instead of juicy. if you plan on buying shawarma just go the the next one at bloor/lansdowne. 5 minutes away at least they give you a decent portion of meat.
Went for lunch today since I work in the area. Customers werent wearing masks. Person working behind counter was very rude when I asked what the specials were. Chicken Shwarma didnt taste good. Being in Bloor West Village do not be rude to black customers. PERIOD.
the best Ali Babas Ive been too, good food, really friendly staff.
very good service however the amount of meat they put on their sandwich is beyond small...tasty but no value for money at all...do not recommend
Truly the best Ali Babas in town, possibly the original restaurant, but Id be willing to stand corrected on that. Its shocking how different the restaurants are, but everything from the free salad with your platter, or the spices they use in the rice, the kind people behind the counter. This is by far the best Ali Babas in the city, and one of the best Middle Eastern restaurants too.
Good shawarma, could be more generous with quantity.
The worst falafel plate I have had in my life. Everything was old and way too salty. The rice soaked up all my saliva in the first bite. I could not finish 1/4 of it. This place used to be good before they renovated it.
The food was really amazing totally worth it!!!
Cant go wrong for the price. Their daily specials cant be beat.
Good vegan options. But why, Ali Baba, dont you guys leave the garlic sauce (not vegan) off the potatoes and let customers decide whether they want it? Please?
The amount of food for the price is fantastic. First time visited, and the food was awesome. Had a quarter chicken platter.
Great service and great food!
Mediterranean fast food.
Decent Shawarma with good deals. Usually order take out
Its dirty, cheap and quick. Way better than McDs
Cheaper and food also ok
Good, cheap, yummy
Good shawarma
The food here is isnt good at all. I ordered a chicken shawarma sandwich and found the amount of chicken they give is small compared to other places; so I had to order extra chicken for $3 more. The worst part of that is I found 3 chicken bones (yes, three) in my sandwich. When I mentioned it to both people working there, they said and did nothing. Customer service is as bad as the food. Will never come here again and neither should you if you actually like good food.
By far the worst Ali Babas in the city. Ive consistently had my order been taken incorrectly. It seems as if the staff try to give you the absolute minimum of shawarma, veggies, and tabouli. The only thing they are generous with (beyond eyerolls) is the sauce which leads to a dripping soggy disappointment of a wrap. I would strongly recommend to put your money practically anywhere else.
I used to love this place with the different owners j am doing keto so I ordered the shawarma plate with salad. I literally got $1 with of salad. My daughter got the shawarma sandwich, which literally had scraps of burnt meat. The server did. It smile once nor did she respond to the hello. Will never return to this location again.
Always great food and worth every penny
Love the Tuesday falafel special.
The food was very tasty
Cant get enough of this place... the food is totally good and the prices are fair for the portions... and they have good specials during the week so cant complain...
Thats how a shawarma should taste like!!
Really good shawarma
Mmmmmmmm Shawarma!
Great food. Good prices.
I like this location, lots of seatings, small patio with a few tables in the back.
Best in town
$6.99, not including tax, for a shawarma wrap is a rip off, especially when 2/3 of wrap was vegetables. Ali Babas only good when there are specials of week.
Good food. clean place
Friendly staff great food and service. Not a big fan of middle eastern cuisine but I love this place
Beef shawarma platter is just right, much better than most other Ali Baba eateries
Delicious food!
Good Food, price is bit high
Good everyday deals and friendly staff
Yesterday I went to this place i would say never go to this place as this is worst place i have ever been to the guy over the counter doesnt know what he is doing and when corrected he started fighting over things. Go to other places close by but never go to this one.
Has the chicken shawarma with rice and lentils and salad. Delicious and a great value and portions. 2 for $20 on a Saturday for lunch.
The quantity is pretty good.
Love their chicken shawarmas & garlic potatoes
Good service and fast healthy food.
Grt place. Affordable and healthy
Healthy food at fair prices. The platters are huge servings.
Great fast meal in just a few minutes
Chip and taste
One of the better franchise locations. Professional staff and pleasant ambience. Place was clean as well.
The food was amazing and the service was so good, the people were so nice and it was lovely!
I asked for a chicken shawarma with no hot sauce and she emptied the whole hot sauce bottle I had to buy another one and it was super cold.
Yum yum
Good quality food and they are very fast so very convenient for lunch on work days. Sometimes some dishes are a bit greasy though but generally very tasty food.
Good variety of middle eastern food
Always good food, efficient service.
Good value for the price, fast and efficient.
Great shawarma!
Only option for shawarma in the area, and only late option for takeout other than pizza. Decent shawarma wraps and plates with a daily special and a whole lot of baklava for sale
Tuesday special: 2x1 falafels. Enough said.
The staff did not listen to my order and put sauce on when I specifically asked for no sauce. I then asked if they could re-make it as I have an intolerance to that sauce and they refused. They told my not to worry about it and that and I would be fine. I believed them and was sick later. Not cool, will not be going back!
Amazing clean place , great staff. Would definitely come again
I loved their food! They prepared my order exactly how I would want it to be! It was just perfect
This is the best Ali Babas in town and the first one. The customer service and food is first class. I really appreciate the attention to detail and pride that goes into the food being served well done.
Good food... Good persons found here!
Horrible place. Dont have menu items, subpar service, cold food, flavourless chickpea salad, and its way too loud in here - they have loud music, a tv with half volume, and other noise
Good place to visit if youre vegan and work in the area. You cant find a lot of vegan places on that Street. Their shawarma wrap is pretty good too and portions are big.
Special. cool. Wonder
Its so good
I grab supper from here once a week. Friendly and generous staff, consistent quality of food, great garlic sauce.
Great customer experience, chatty and outgoing. Food was outstanding, would recommend it to anyway looking for ethentic middle eastern food.
I love this place in particular. There are some other Alibaba restaurants that I hate, but this one is good. Food is tasty, and with arabic flavour not 100%. Restaurant owner is friendly and the attendees are naturally good. I have had my meals everyday for 3 months :)
My brother hates shawarma so we were fighting the whole time and everyone was staring and laughing at us. How embarrassed I must have looked, the food was so harsh darn good though and I like the back entrance.
This location sucks. If you want half the amount of food you would normally get from any other location, come here. Portion size is terrible.
Just a great place to be and great food with great prices and specials. And very receptive wow
My friends & I order from here regularly at least twice a week & Ive never had an issue. Its afordable, healthy, tasty & the staff are polite & efficient. Theres also a cute oasis patio in the back which is perfect during spring, summer fall season(s). Just make sure if your not use to certain foods, sauces or herbs you may get sick, everyones tolerance is different. I have no complaints & recommend this place to all my friends & family. Chicken Shwarmas are absolutely Delicious. I can not visit without getting shwarmas, samosas are superb with the garlic dip, perfectly crispy on the outside & juicy taseful filling!! They also have these Grape Leaves filled with a rice mixture that you can dip in a sauce. I have to admit it may be an acquired taste, I recommend you try 1 first to see if you like them. And dont get me started on the baklava! I love them! This is my favourite place to visit!!!
Great specials
Very friendly staff, food is consistently good. Never had a negative experience and I eat here very often. They typically have a daily special. All good and prices are reasonable.
Outstanding Falafel & shawarmas.
Their lunches are terrific. Usually they have a 2 for 1 sale on falafels or chicken shawarma. They have a very nice outdoor patio in the back and its a relaxing place to have your lunch. There is shade from some tree cover and it is surprisingly a quiet Oasis that contrast the Dundas Street location. The staff who has served me does not seem overly friendly. However the good food great price and wonderful outdoor patio make it a great place to have lunch.
Delicious and healthy food served here. Favourite special is on Tuesdays, for $6.99 you get 2 falafels, always get garlic and hot sauce. Their Chicken Shwarmas in either wrap or plate form.
Great food, great staff
So good
Nice food and prices. Although the restaurant is old, its suites the restaurant. However it can use a bit of renovation to create a appealing look. Not bad
The shawarma is relatively good and the customer service is extremely friendly. ..
Food is average. The people that work there come off really rude. Definitely much better middle eastern food in the city I would recommend over this place.
This place puts every other falafel joint to shame. I`ve been coming here for years and they always have fresh and delicious food. There specials are always great value too.
This place is awesome! They have amazing falafel and shwarma! The staff is friendly and there is a line up out the door for a reason!
Their food is OK, They are rude , I asked for separate salade with a chicken Shawarma plater and response was disgusting , guy did not give me a chance to speak n kept on refusing by saying their policy does not allow separate salade with Sbawarma Plater . I will never ever buy food from there anymore
Terrible service, placed a large order for pick up at 1245 (2hours in advance) they did not start making it until I showed up at 1 and then were very rude when I tried to tell them.they were late. Will not order from this place again
This place is terrible!! They are so cheap its absolutely ridiculous. They literally make you pay 6$ for a piece of pita bread with very minimal ingredients. If I wanted to eat pita bread I could go down a few stores and buy a whole pack for 2$!! Any if you ever ask for more toppings, they say its going to be extra.. EVEN FOR LETTUCE! I cant believe what a cheap place this is. And the worst part is, if they gave you some extra toppings the shawarma would actually be good. Too bad!
1/4 times they get my order wrong, never going there again
I visit this location every week. I LOVE their SAMOSAS & falafels!!! They also have daily specials all week long. Their not the most happy bunch of people but they appear to do a good job to me. Food is tasty!! If youre a first-timer try the samosas and falafels & if you have a major sweet tooth try the baklava(Personal favourites). Try eating on the outdoor patio as well.
