2778 Victoria Park Ave, Toronto, ON M2J 4A8, Canada
Humble counter known for its chicken & beef shawarma, plus other simple Middle Eastern standards.
I will never buy anything here again. This is my second time ordering here. The clerk last time was very kind, but this time the old clerk had a bad attitude. I was the first person to order, but he served the two customers who came later first, and then he packed my food very perfunctorily. My fries even had no ketchup. Maybe my language was not accurate, but it was obvious that the clerk behind me was more patient. I also thank the customer who helped me, but I did not get the respect I deserved in this store.
The beef shawarma plate tasted so so. And the bottle of the yogurt drink, it’s salty. It was my first time buying and drinking it because it seemed very delicious. If it’s sweet, it must be delicious. It’s my first time drinking salty drink in my life. It’s so salty that I had to take it home to use it as salt to make dishes.
Had to make an order for close to 30 people and the food, price and customer service was exceptional. They helped us with any issue we may have had. The order was made in advance and they had it prepared on time and it was hot when we arrived. The food itself was amazing and especially since it was a mass order it was exceptional. It met all dietary restrictions and had everyone satisfied with lots of leftovers. I would recommend Family Shawarma and if I lived closer it would become my favourite shawarma spot.
not worth going here, they charge 1.50 extra for olive or cheese on top of the plain 7$ sandwich that you are paying and less chicken. Better places somewhere else. Def money hungry guys
13.25 for 2 shawarmas, not the best taste but definetly not bad!
Seriously, this is the BEST SHAWARMA in Toronto. I’ve had it all. This one beats all. The beef and chicken are cooked beautifully, charred on the outside, succulent inside. My favourite part is that they have a jalapeño chilli paste that you can take as a topping - no worries it’s not that spicy but the flavour is out of this world. My usual is a chicken and beef mix, with lettuce, onion and the chilli paste (with garlic mayo, tahini and a tiny bit of hot sauce to add that zing). Seriously, the best I’ve had in Canada.
I have tried several kinds of dishes from this place . I personally prefer their Shawarmas over their other dishes , Their Tahini and Hot sauce is tasty and the salad is always fine ( only once it was not fresh ) . Overall you can have a good Shawarma for a good price !
Never knew about this place until recently... located in corner near Value Village. They serve a very decent chicken shawarma. Good value, because bread doesn't break and they don't skimp on meat and toppings. Also good friendly attitude by the 2 gentleman. The "any 2 sandwiches for 7.95 special" is not as good as the special at Tasty Shawarma on Sheppard, however, they also have a "3 for 11.95" which is cool. Decent sized small area inside to sit and eat. Lots of parking available. No wheelchair entrance.
I love this dude and the food. This is humanity and shawarma at its best!! We even had lunch AND dinner there!!
You should try this flavor
The low price was the main reason I would go there but unfortunately it is as expensive as any other shawarma with less meat and salad in the wrap.
Worst shawarma, I ever tried.
Bought the two shawarma wrap deal, 2 for 13.95 and we feel sick to our stomach. I will be letting the city know because I suspect that they are mishandling the food. DO NOT BUY!! Parking: Lots of parking in the plaza
Extremely good shawarmas and good prices aswell. Make sure to ask for extra hot sauce
It seems it was better before but when I bought the Shawarma on Sunday the meat was hard to chew.
I go to this place often, with usually one shawarma every week to ten days. Always good, always friendly, and you cant beat the price for a good shawarma. Why not five stars? Theyve mixed up the order a couple of times, but otherwise theyre fantastic.
G afternoon I went to the restaurant last afternoon to buy a shawarma plate for dinner, as soon I got home around 4:30pm I ate the food after a few hours I already started to feel stomach pain, so I went to sleep, woke up in the middle of the night (3:30am) throwing up everything, spent my whole day (today 08-22-24) at the emergency hospital throwing up 18x in 8 hours that s just my experience, if you decide to go is your own risk stay safe out there
Small store , but amazing food.
Great place! Excellent shawarma!
Taste is not good. Dry shawarma. Literally no meat , Charging extra for credit card. Not giving the reciept. Dont waste your time and money. Worst experience so far. Food
Small portions. They need to develop customer service skills.
Hello , the food and atmosphere is excellent but honestly for $15 i paid , it was very small portion . very little shawarma and Rice also i buy chicken kebob with alot of rice from Darband restaurant for $18 including tax and is alot of rice and chicken overall the service is i have to say very poor and i will never buy the chicken shawarma plate its not worth it at all if you want to spent 15$ is better you buy two sandwiches deal which is much better dinner plate is not worth it at all this is very honest review
Been coming here for few years. Recently prices have gone up, and the food quantity and quality had become....horrible....even the radishes are soggy and stale...its a tough industry but if it tasted good I wouldnt talk. But the shawarma here now tastes like eating cardboard. Time to find somewhere new.
Family Shawarma and Falafel has been a family spot for me and my family for over 15 years but sadly not anymore. The raising of prices is warranted with our economy but the the quality has hit rock bottom and the amount of food you get for the price is really not worth it anymore. They have decreased the amount of toppings you can put into the shawarma like pickles, parsley and cucumbers. Skimpy with the sauces and meat is the new motto for this spot. Once appearing on the Toronto Star has now gone downhill to not even being worth to appear on a local school paper. Really disappointing to see a thriving shawarma spot that Ive been going to for over 15 years to go down like this. I guess its for the better?
I ve been to Family Shawarma a couple of times in the past but it s been many years since. I was pretty disappointed at the price and quality of food served when I recently visited. The cost was about $15 for 2 chicken shawarma wraps which is a bit more expensive compared to other places offering 2-for-1 shawarma deals. The wraps were small, not a lot of toppings were added, and they measured the amount of chicken to put in the wraps which is unacceptable in my opinion. The food itself is average, not the best but also not the worst. Pictures of articles from the Toronto Star covering Family Shawarma hang on the wall and while it s cool to see, that was almost 15 years ago and it seems they haven t been able to maintain the quality they were once featured for. They definitely lose a lot of points for skimping out on toppings and measuring the amount of shawarma when you take into consideration how much you re paying.
I bought shawarma with chicken, very little meat, only lettuce and pita bread. Little sauce and very little filling. I remained hungry
Editing after some years of five stars. Not sure if it was chicken I had tonight or rat meat. Two shawarmas straight to the trash. I feel ashamed of the low and minimum quality standards of our city.
Really good shawarma where do you get the meat from
One of the best shawarma I had in GTA.
I used to love this place..it was a go to ..but it has now become a complete rip off money wise..they put 2 slivers of tomatoes and will not even put a full scoop of chicken..the shawarma plate is half the size it used to be but at a 15 dollar cost..wont see me there again after over 10 years..done
Best shawarma in Toronto!! And best value
I ordered one shawarma chicken and one falafel , the shawarma chicken taste is really bad has fat in it too and the sauce not even taste garlic or any of this . The falafel is not fried well and even the sauce no taste, I think they add more water to serve customers. After eating I felt stomach ache. I would never go to this place anymore.
Always delicious, never disappoints! Weve been coming here for years - it quickly became a favourite. Food is delicious, served fast and very reasonably priced. Homemade falafel is incredible! The shawarma is moist and well proportioned, whether in a pita or the platter. And the fries are just the best in the city... we suggest ordering a second plate (or at least the large) when taking out as they never make it all the way home
I have a business around the area and I ve been struggling to find the best place to have my lunches and I finally found the place! Family Shawarma and Falafel was an amazing experience both for the food and the services. The guy at the register, his name is Riyad is the reason why I ll be coming back. His professional approach and knowledge on the food wowed me! Thank you for the great experience at your restaurant you ll definitely be seeing me again!
I had chicken shawarma and maybe it was the worst one Ive ever had that I had to throw the sandwich away right after the first bite... Im not a picky person but anyone can tell that chicken didnt taste fresh! It was absolutely bad and warmed up several times before serving it.. Im so disappointed and definitely not going there again...
Nice 2 for 12 deal on shawarma
This place is rated high for no reason. While the food is okay, the customer service is horrible. With no hello and how can I help you the guy gives you a death stare and you should guess his question. Thought he had a bad day, but no, same attitude every time. Not coming back.
Horrible food, not prepared well, bread very dry, portion of food not equal to what they charge. If they want business they must improve.
Nice staffs, delicious taste. Good price Parking: You can use the parking lot for the plaza
Worst! Worst ! I order chicken on rice and its cost me $20 on uber eats and i got little bit of rice and 4 to 5 small chunks of chicken with one spoon of sauce on top worst experience ever
Always a good place for budget food that doesnt disturb your stomach. Were repeat customer for their chicken shawarma sandwiches.
Still my top pick for shwarma in scarborough.
we have been loyal to this shawarma place for many years, and they used to be very good, the only place we would go to. Not anymore, the cost went up, and the portions went down... even with the lettuce, let alone the meat, they were stingy! I understand inflation and all of that but the wrap we got was just... disappointing and and isnt the same anymore. we wont be returning.
My go to place for falafel. The best thing is they fry fresh falafel every time for the sandwich. Really love the flavours.
Food was yummy and service was quick
If you guys don t know how to talk with your customer please do training for that. If you guys don t sell halal please just say no and if you do say just yes.
Great place for lunch! Delicious shawarma. Place was busy but the service was great!
Clean, food is excellent. Good customer service.
I was a fan since 2014. When they moved from Sheppard Av to the new place I was super excited they are still around with their great product. But...after covid looks like they dont care anymore, complimentary pita is gone when you order a plate, portions shirked to half at least. Lettuce forget about it (unless you up for fight with the guy), tomatoes are green, meat is dry and reheated. I wont recommend this place to anyone.
I had to wait 50 minutes for 2 shawarma and fries to be delivered. Restaurant doesnt have a voice mail recording. I am so not ordering from here. I had to microwave the food and was not that happy about it. Called Skip the dishes, was refunded 1/2 of the amount. Not recommended at all. This is your rating below:
Vegetarian options: Well, they should really have more vegetarian options Parking: Eggshell Food : 4/5 |
Got the shawarma plate, the chicken was a bit dry and the portion size was quite small. The garlic sauce was good.
Older guy behind the counter was super friendly to everyone speaking Arabic, but wouldnt even speak or make eye contact to me. Your price to portion ratio isnt good enough to get away with that - Ill just keep going to Tasty Shawarma instead.
If I could give zero stars I would. The old location always had fresh pita, veggies & chicken/beef. Their new location is terrible. They lowered the quality of the meat. Also, business is really slow, they don t have as much customers therefore, causing the meat to stay for days and you can tell as well from the veggies as they re all looking saggy and if you pay attention their colour is also dull. I asked the person working, why the meat and vegetables looked like that and his answer was if we were to throw everything that got a little old we wouldn t be in business as he was mixing very old looking meat with new one. He literally said I don t understand the shawarma business when I mentioned that other places like tasty shawarma just a few blocks had line ups of customers because they serve fresh food and include extra sauce and even fries in the sandwich for free. Customer service: very bad Food quality: low Accommodations: ZERO, since you have to pay for every little thing It s very unfortunate what happened to this place. But like all things, every good thing comes to an end I guess. I truly believe they ll have complaints to the health ministry over food poisoning and that s the only thing that would prevent the owner from trying to save every little penny at the health expense of his loyal customers.
Good food, eating a simple and tasteful shawarma after a long time.
The best tasting shwarmas in town at excellent prices. Feed a family of 6 adults for $40 taxes included buying 6 sandwiches. Each one was made to order with additions, subtractions and extras. Like beef and chicken? Just ask for mixed to get both.
I ordered 2 shawarmas without tomatoes and hot sauce and they gave me tomatoes and hot sauce, they clearly mixed up my order with the people before me. At other Shawarma places they specifically understand that I don t want Hot sauce or tahini or other sauces but here, they mixed up my order and it led my tongue to being itchy.
Best shawarma in town
Very, very average. I had a mix shawarma plate. Meat was dry and portions rather small. No hummus comes with the plate, also no parsley/tabbouleh so the taste is just meh. Not going to come back as there are better options out there.
Amazing sharwama., authentic middle Eastern taste
I ordered Veggie falafel Quality is good but filling is small guy literally counts 2 tomato slices 3 pickle pieces small spoon lettuce
They gave me such less rice and such less chicken for a price of 14 Kid-friendliness: Sucks Food : 1/5 |
Ive never had a chicken shawarma sing this loud in my mouth
Its not worth going, their shawarma is just pita no chicken no veggies. Better go somewhere else
Absolutely one of worst falafel I tasted in my life
Been coming here for years even after they relocated.. Met the owner, he seems to be a great guy, very personable. Place is clean and service is professional and quick. Love the food! Would highly recommend this place as I do to all my friends and acquaintances.
Good shawarma , the burger is nice too , how ever bery very stingy workers , when u ask for a little bit extra of onion or sauce u end up with a argument with them
This is my Number 2 Shawarma restaurant, cheaper than other places and not too bad
used to be really good lots of meat in the pita. Now its very cheap you can barely taste anything all you taste is the pita. dissapointed
Beef and chicken shawarma is very good.
It was delicious falafal wrap.. Clean space..
Best Falafel Sandwich you will ever eat in your life, Trust me on that. I am a very picky person and I just cant resist this amazing place with amazing food. Please visit and dont have a doubt in your mind.
I came to this restaurant with one of my peers. I must say, they have extremely tastey shawarma. I got the two wrap special, mixed wrap both were amazing. Highly recommend this place, fairly priced and nice staff. Will definitely be returning for some more of that good good
This place has authentic juicy falafels and samosas which are very reasonably priced. This is my falafel go-to place now. The staff was very friendly as well.
Shawarma bowl is a rip off. Double the price of a sandwich with only a bit more meat. They will give you chicken by default unless you ask for other more pricier meat choices.
Shawarma meat was good, but the toppings were sparse and lacking in variety. Picked turnips were the most salty Ive ever had. Hot sauce had no balls. Not the worst place around, not the best either.
Best and tasty shawarma in this area nice staff and very friendly
Worst shawarma place! Not just the shawarma is dry and no flavour but it was soggy and not fresh at all. I asked for extra garlic and the man looked at me and said this is all we can put. Worst customer service ever. Even at the counter, I accidentally used the credit card and the guy looked at me and with the worst attitude asked me to pay an extra $1 for this mistake. I came out hating the place and swore to never enter it again. This is used to be one of my go to shawarmas long time ago. Unfortunately their level has deteriorated. They are very cheap and rude with their customers
Used to be a lot better. Now the chicken is dry and the ingredients dont feel as fresh. Its also a bit too saucy
Delicious Shawarma sandwiches. Come here several times and have been loyal client for over 5 years. Wishing them many more years of success.
Great shawarmas, especially for the price
Totally disappointed. I really wonder how this store got 4+ rating. Bought chicken shawarma, the guy just put all the left over from yesterday. I had no option rather than throwing it away.
I ordered, and 3 other people entered after 5 mins. While making my order the guy stops to make the girl, that just walks in order, puts it on the grill. Then a guy that came in after her, same thing. They saw what I saw and turned and said sorry. What that really meant was sorry I cant imagine whats it like to be dark skin. When I did get my order I put it in the trash and went to eat else where. I hope everyone who reads this feels me....
One of my favourite hole in the wall restaurants for shawarma. This use to be located on Pharmacy and Vic Park and was disappointed that the plaza was closed down and didnt know where they went. Was quite happy to find it again and the food is still good. Portions have sort of shrunk a bit but I assume thats with good cost going up. Still good value and enjoyable. Youre not here for the decor or atmosphere or the cheerful friendly service, you here for in and out quick good food. Next!!
Oh my gosh like the chicken shawarma here. The person making it so kind and perfect customer service. I like their dressings and freshness of veggies. The meat is well cooked and tender too. Definitely recommend, wanna go back later.
Disgusting
This Shawarma is so delicious and soft meat. Thanks
Good food, Good price
Falefals are great and so is their garlic sauce but the chicken shawrma was okay unfortunately
Brought the family for some tasty shawarmas after doing laundry next door. Really fresh and tasty and price was decent. Added to my top favourites spots to get shawarma
2.5 stars. I dont know why this place is rated so high. Its nothing special. I came at 9 and it closes at 11. The meat was already cut from the BBQ and sitting in containers. And a bit dry. The wrap was kind of small. The fries were the frozen variety. Aiming low is not a business strategy.
Very average tasting shwarma and the behavior of one the stuff (the older guy) is terrible.. talks and behaves very rudely..not going there again:(
So fresh
Lying is not good Yanni you said our platters... not sandwiches would be replaced for fathers day.The words used was sorry for that it will be on the house when you come in next time is the words u used. Then when we place the order you said we would only offer a discount. Stick by ur word and this would never be an issue. Are platters also always came with a pita when we requested it and you tried to tell my husband we charge for the pita with the platter. You were never threatened by me or my husband the lying needs to stop Yanni. There are lots of other shawarma business to support. Will not be back.
Something wrong the portion of food is much less than before. I guess manager or owner is changed. Expensive
Came here to get lunch. Very disappointed. Bald guy is very rude and insulting. He cannot handle customers properly and does not communicate politely. 1/10 service, 5/10 food
Quick and easy lunch Vegetarian options: Falafel Parking: Ample parking Kid-friendliness: Fries
Tastes really good and great prices
Delicious shawarma and great customer service, will definitely come back
Manager was rude and I watched him dig his nose then touch food . Will never eat here again
Amazing shawarma! One of the best in town!
Amazing taste and value!
Hidden gem. Try some add ones in your wrap. Seen a lot of people taking the bulk orders out. Food
Neighborhood staple, great shawarmas!!
Worst customer service. The server acts as if hes giving away food for free. Doesnt know how to behave.
Value for money! I make sure to get chicken Shawarma from here everytime I go thrifting in the Value Village next door.
Small clean restaurant. The chicken was excellent. Good flavour and a little bit crispy. Straight forward and simple. The fries were made to order and were hot. The hot sauce was just okay.
I placed my order over the phone and did not have much of interaction with the staff. The food is good at reasonable price. Will order from them again.
Tastes good but very slow service. Takes forever to make 1 sandwich. Also the store is boring such as no music.
The Chicken Shawarma and fresh made to order deep fried falafels are my two favorite items at this restaurant. The food is always excellent and everything is 100% Halal. The young man who works there is very friendly and loves to acknowledge his customers. The service is excellent, the food is excellent, and the prices are excellent, what more can you ask for!
Their food is great and priced good. They always have good deals and I love ordering from them whenever I visit value village. My only concern is their customer service because they tend to usually be pretty grumpy.
Always consistent quality and reasonable prices!
Nice Sahwarma. My craving is always satisfied here.
Very nice people and the food is amazing
Cheese burger is good, shawarma is ok.
Great shawarmas!
Used to eat here for about a year, and used to order bigger family plates. Service is terrible, theyre downright unfriendly and sometimes rude. This has been confirmed by friends of mine too. Sometimes it felt like theyre doing me a favour making me food. One time I ordered a family meal roughly $30, instead of two cokes I asked for ONE Ayran drink and that I would pay the difference. The guy behind the counter was gave me a stand-offish no, that was my last time there. Aside from that we(family) started feeling that the quality of the food wasnt good, the food was not up to par with the other shawarma places around and nearby that I like to frequent. To family shawarma: Treat your customers correct, give them a good experience, whatre you doing driving people away.
Been going to family shawarma for a few years since their location on Pharmacy ave. Looking like theyre doing well here as well. Very friendly staff, Son and Father business. Great quick shawarma fresh chicken and beef off the spit they are great when Im in the area for work!
Love this place, I had the Falafel sandwich this last visit. Have eaten here several times and I also recommend trying their chicken shawarma. Good prices
Food is good. Service is garbage.
Cheap and delicious
The amount of chicken and beef they put in my shawarma was way to less it was a little scoop which was kind of quater cup even the the wrapping of my sandwich was cheap. Will not be going back there again. Not worth the price.
Good and clean
Tasty
They most of the time have good food. But we ordered food last time and the taste of the falafel and chicken shawarma wasnt right. Couldnt eat it at all.
Best sharwama I have ever had well cooked chicken and falafel Must try place, ignore their customer service you wont be treated well but, food is delicious and takes all credit
Good shawarma and nice staff. Highly recommend
Pretty good falafels...
yes
Nothing to rave about, just okay place. The prices are decent again nothing great
I used to love this place. I believe theyve changed owners again, and its pretty disappointing. Just ordered a shawarma salad, asked for extra garlic sauce and watched him put it on. Didnt look like extra to me so I asked for a bit more. The man rolled his eyes at me and said it cost money my friend which I completely understand. This is the first time that anybody tried to charge me for extra garlic sauce at a shawarma place. If you are going to charge extra for sauce, put it up on the menu. And maybe, dont say it with an attitude. Never coming back to this place again, because the owner didnt know how to talk to a customer about extra garlic sauce.
Great food for reasonable price.
Pathetic small portion of chicken and vege for $10 shawarma bowl. Taste is mediocre
Best Shawarma in the entire world. Im from the middle east and it s better than any other shawarma i ve ever had. Always So fresh, juicy, and tasty. I have been going here for 6 years now. LOVE LOVE this place. If i could give infinity starts I would.
BEST SHAWARMA IN THE ENTIRE WORLD!!
Used to be my go to shawarma spot. But it depends on who makes it. Couple of the guys there make it SO small with little portioning.. so when I see those specific guys I would just go to another shawarma spot
Delicious food!
Fair prices and the burgers tastes way better than most of the fast food chains. Shawarma was tasty and well wrapped as well.
Best shawarma in town !
Worst customer service. Strongly recommend do not visit this place. Not enough quantity for what we pay. I don t know how they got this much 5 stars.
Good quality and cheap meal
Nice and clean... very friendly
This place is awesome. Absolutely the best shawarma!!!
Good food. Good service. Definitely one of my favourite shawarma places.
Shawarma is very good. I tried the beef kabob plate but unfortunately its not good. Beef and chicken shawarma I definitely recommend
Shawarma and fries are great. Salad was a bit sad. Will go again
Love this place
Ive been to this shawarma place several times in diffrent time spans. The quailty and quantatiy of the food has gone downhill as time has passed. The last time I visted this place, the food tasted out dated and smell of a foul odor. The amount food you get is a small portion and if you ask for extra the person questions why you would need extra. Really unperfessional way of running a business. Be warned.
Absolutely lovely food and great customer service. Been coming here for many years. Personally, I find the shawarma wraps and fries to be the big stars on the menu. Not too crazy about other menu items Ive tried, but you may like it. It all comes down to preference. Nonetheless, I highly recommend the shawarma wraps and fries. All chicken, beef and gyro are amazing and bursting will flavour, so I recommend you try all three!
Perfect place with no flaws. All the reviews saying the staff are rude are just rude customers themselves that don t know how to clear misunderstandings or interact with people. The food quality is great, and the staff are awesome. The place is clean and the price is very reasonable for high quality chicken and beef.
Long time customer. Always friendly prompt service. Well priced great meals!
Taste is good but they try to give you scoop of meat in half and when I ask for extra tomatos they put one more slice
Very good food and good people.
The blessing of food and its sweet taste
The old man wouldnt put his mask on properly and had it under his nose even when I asked him to put it on. Thankfully the younger man offered to make the food for us.
Ordered here yesterday through Uber eats with my sister and they completely messed up my order. I asked for Tomatoes and Onions and they put lettuce instead and no Tomatoes or Onions. My sister called the store and they refused to admit that they were wrong. Kept dismissing her saying that they didnt mess up our order when right in front of us was the order that they got wrong. The staff on the phone was rude and did not try and help us in anyway. I suggest the staff pay more attention to peoples toppings that they order. We ended up throwing out the Shawarma and I had to get food from somewhere else. This was my first and last time ordering from this place. Extremely disappointed.
Love Family Shawarmas chicken shawarma and fries.
Good food and great price
Service was good. 2 shawarma deal is actually 12 odd dollars including tax. Shawarma tasted good. Edit: Price is 11.XX dollars including tax.
Clean & delicious authentic Arab food, at very good prices
Great food and great people!
Great food
Poor custmer service, he was angry to me for request extra sauce in sharwama, please keep some good staffs in front line, don t keep a racist.
Fantastic food. Great food. Amazing staff. Enjoy
Best Shawarma, with traditional ingredients.....Only place I come for a Shawarma because all these new places try to replicate with the wrong toppings
Falafel is made and cook fresh! Yummy!
Mahamda was very first one to take me there and now if I have to go drop something off to him I get there great food it is very reasonable price and best Shawarma I have ever been too.
Portions are small owners are rude better off going down the street to tasty shawarma
