224 Ossington Ave, Toronto, ON M6J 2Z9, Canada
Cozy little restaurant with an open concept kitchen that makes you feel at home! Loved how the falafel dish was presented as an open sandwich that lets you fill the pita pocket yourself. Great service too!
Service very attentive and professional. Food chosen from the lunch plates was excellent. We topped it off with a dream-like cheese cake.
It’s a Cute place on Ossington that has a more chill vibe than many places on the strip. The food was good. Nazareth Hot Chicken - so good we had two orders Kofta - good but maybe comes across more as a standard meatball than Kofta, for the lack of appropriate spice Broccolini Labneh - excellent with the grilled broccolini against the creamy Labneh. I’ll be trying to recreate this at home. Roast potatoes - good with the whipped garlic and the spicy red sauce but the potatoes might have benefited from some frying to crisp them away from their boiled texture. Tasty but could have been better. The cocktails were superb - Cafe Douma and Demeter I loved the orange-red lights in the room. Was such a good vibe. Good, cheery, service. I’m going to go back sometime at lunch and try their sidewalk takeout window. Haifa room is Worth trying.
It’s a small and cozy restaurant, serving Middle Eastern cuisine. They have about 10 small tables, and for larger groups, they accommodate by putting the tables together. The staff are young and friendly. You can either use public transportation to get here or park your car on the street. We ordered “House Hummus” that was served with a pita bread. We also ordered “Lamb Tartare” and “Loaded Eggplant”. This was our first time trying Lamb Tartare and we really liked it. The Loaded Eggplant was very delicious and I really recommend it. We also tried “Knafe” for dessert. We liked that it was warm and a great combination of sweet and salty.
We made the reservation beforehand. They have a separate menu for dine-in and takeout. For dine-in, we ordered: 1. House Hummus: 5/5 => It has one pita and hummus. We ordered extra pitas. Make sure to eat the hummus with max 2 pitas or you will eat them too dry. 2. Falafel: 5/5 => It has 3 falafels and tahini. We ordered an extra falafel. 3. Roast Potatoes: 5/5 All the items were tasty. The service and ambience is also good. For the mains, we decided to try their takeout menu and eat in Trinity Bellwoods park. We ordered: 1. Chicken Pita: 5/5 => Mix of multiple flavours. 2. Falafel Pita: 4/5 => Less spicy. Shawarmas are better. Both of the above were very filling as well. I don’t know why they don’t serve them in dine-in. Overall, the food is good but dine-in items are expensive and less in quantity. I would recommend the takeout menu. I might come again to try their sabich.
A great recommendation from another Ossington restaurant to come here for cocktails. We did not have food (but hummus looked amazing), we did enjoy a Demeter cocktails. Took a bit of time to create, but while waiting a few more recommendations were provided for our next stop.
Standout dish was the Nazareth fried chicken (pictured). While the food was good, our experience was unfortunately overshadowed by poor service. It took 50 minutes for all of our food to arrive to the table, and we had to request the bill twice before we received it. This was earlier in the night before the restaurant was full, at one point there were more servers than customers. It would have certainly been a better experience if servers were more present, and the food was brought out at a more reasonable pace.
Had a really lovely server here :) The Turkish coffee was great, honestly rivals what I've had in Turkey. The salad was delicious. The charred cabbage was beautiful, and there were some great bites-- but I found there wasn't enough sauce/ garnish/ char to make each bite flavorful toward the center.
Delicious food, fast service even when busy. The charred cabbage was seriously good.
Great food, great atmosphere! Love the seasonal menu changes. Always looking forward to coming back!
I had a nice experience at this restaurant. The staff were friendly and attentive. I ordered multiple dishes, and while some dishes had smaller portions than expected for the price, the Lamb Shoulder was exceptional. It was tender, flavorful, and absolutely worth returning for.
If you look at the kitchen, you feel teenagers working there and same with service.. l felt like fast food and served with a little extra class..... Definitely not going there again
Flavorful food and a warm atmosphere on a cold night.
Great vibes & service. Loved the broccolini, hot chicken & potatoes. Wouldn t recommend the Merguez sausages. 10 forward cocktail was pretty but nothing special. Fair prices.
Honestly the best food I had in a while. The vibe was very friendly and the food was just amazing. I dont know how they make the red sauce but its something out of this world.
Amazing food, great drinks and the service was on point!
Food was SPECTACULAR! Wish I took pictures but I was so hungry! The hummus was not your ordinary GTA hummus. Definitely had a different touch to it. RECS: 1. Kofta 2. Falafel (I m not much of an vege guy but this was amazing!) Service was great! Cool atmosphere as well!
I had walked past and noted how great the food smelled at lunch service and decided to bring my mother and aunt (gluten free, dairy free and a vegetarian!) to try their dinner service. When I asked about gluten free/dairy free options the staff were amazing and broke down on the menu what would be safe and what wasn t able to be changed. The food was delicious, we particularly loved the seasonal hummus (Ontario peach hummus) and the modded broccolini muhammara. We tried 4 different dishes and 2 deserts and were very satisfied with our food. Overall the staff were incredible with thoughtful service and the food was stellar. Vegetarian options: All the dishes we ate were vegetarian, there are both meat and veggie options on the menu. Dietary restrictions: Gluten free mods are available. They kindly changed out 2 of our pita bread orders with cut cucumber with salt and pepper. The majority of the dishes are gluten friendly and with small adjustments like having the pita crumble on the side for the cut gem salad and the pita switch we had no issues.
Great place to get a lunch!
So expensive
Such a cozy little spot! The falafel here is unlike anything I ve had in Toronto, so flavorful. Great service too. I ll definitely be coming back!
Amazing food, freshly made, friendly and helpful service. Vegetarian options: Too many to list. Dietary restrictions: We were able to accommodate vegan and gluten free without. Problem.
Was really glad to have tried this standout spot! I d always walk by and noticed people having a swell time inside. Expectations were met. Food was splendid. I had the shakshouka at brunch and it was delicious. Paired it with the Turkish coffee, my first time trying it, and it was a memorable experience. My one gripe is that I felt service was a little slow. Took quite some time to grab staff s attention and I believe we had to wait 20ish minutes just to get our bill. I recommend this spot to anyone wanting a modern take on Middle Eastern fare. Worth a try for sure!
Lovely atmosphere and really attentive knowledge and kind waiters / waitresses. The hummus with grilled peaches was great, as was the Falafel. The eggplant wasnt my favourite but I m not an eggplant fan, so that doesn t take away from an otherwise very balanced and tasty dish. I would recommend this restaurant and will be back soon! Great value for money and in a cool part of the city. Well done!
Enjoyed our food! Nice space and good service. we will be back!
Unbelievable food, and service at this gorgeous corner spot. Every single dish is a hit. Authentic food, in a relaxed, modern atmosphere. Wines are half price daytime, as well?! Love it!
Ordered a felafel plate from the takeout window. Service was quick and friendly, food was healthy, fresh, filling and delicious.
I went there with my friends, we ordered a plate of shawarma, I was so disappointed, the food was dry and wasnt as tasty as I thought. We were waiting for the food for almost half an hour. The place wasnt clean as well.
The food was cold and wasnt worth the price. Wouldnt recommend at all!
I honestly didnt know one could ruin middle eastern food so badly. The Falafel was burnt to a crisp, overpriced pretentious cocktails, horrible service. Disappointment.
Expensive and disgusting
Horrible falafel. This place is a mockery of Middle Eastern cuisine.
Had a lovely dinner here, Pita was outstanding and fluffy, hummus delicious (unlike some other reviewer here I really appreciated the spices and chickpeas on top) Labneh and brocolinni delish! I love the space and the waitstaff were great but be aware it gets super loud and hard to converse at peak time. Will go back!
Excellent food. Beautiful room. Great service.
Tasty and fresh food, authentic. Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff!
Once we got seated at our table it was all fine and nice. We were at our table for about 30 mins before our server even checked in with our group to see if we wanted to order. She seemed too busy talking to other staff than serving her tables. She only gave us 1 bottle of water for the whole time we were there - There were 4 people at this table. We all had to re-pour our own glasses of wine. Those things you shouldnt really have to ask for from your server, they should just happen. It was truly just the simple things of serving that Erica was not good at. She was also very cold and unwelcoming. I would probably never come back here or recommend anyone to come here unless theyre doing take out because the food was the only good part of this restaurant. There are 100 better options to choose from on Ossington...this isnt even in the top 50 restaurants I have eaten at.
The food is really bad considering I know he authentic taste of most of these dishes ...the food here barely come close to its traditional references...also the cleanliness is subpar and the service is bismol
Terrible service, decent chicken when delivered warm. Stick to the takeout counter.
Food was ok, nothing special but cute place with good service
Palestinian food should stick to its root! No need to modify Labaneh and make it some proten bar !! And no need to modify Humos with all those staff!! Palestinian food have hundreds of years heritage which should not be stolen or manipulated!!
Excellent middle eastern food, although a bit pricey.
delicious! good service. It was not very busy when we were there so plenty of places to sit.
We ordered pretty much everything except for salads. They were all really delicious!
Delicious small place.
Im surprised this place only has a 4. Food is BANGING
This was sooo delicious, wow. My friend and I shared a Sabich plate with two protein sides (kofta and falafel) and it was the perfect amount of food. Amazing quality, 5 stars.
Great sabich - truly a taste of Israel
Great service! Shoutout to Henriette (a real queen). Food was great and great vegan options. Tahini was bussssss 11/10.
I regularly stop by here to grab lunch as I work on the same block and have also been in a few times to dine in. Decided to try the falafel plate and they were so burnt they had become bitter and quite inedible. They forgot the bread and at first denied this when I went back, then gave me one which wasnt properly grilled so it was also unappetizely icecold inside - the pitas are usually perfectly warm pillows. The guys on the Thursday shift just seem not bothered, or maybe are too stressed to also take care of takeout window and need more support.
I went with the falafel, humous and kofta plus a salad. The food was underwhelming, portions were small. There is definitely better humous and falafel in the city. Wine was good, staff was friendly although a little disorganized. Overall, maybe a good place to sip some cocktails and watch and be watched, not a great place to go for a serious dinner. Vegetarian options: Lots of vegan and vegetarian options, tell the staff. Dietary restrictions: The staff is aware and helpful
We had a cocktail, a glass of prosecco, hummus and the falafel, it was very good! I didnt really like the cocktail but thats my opinion :) The service was okay! There was nice music
The server was extremely rude, brought the check out without us asking for it, didn t wipe the table until after we were seated and never asked how the food was. The food was alright but definitely not worth it given the service.
This establishment was nice but the food was disgusting and lacked flavour. Very highly over priced and atmosphere felt Erie wouldn t recommend
Everything seems wildly overpriced here? Even though the dinner menu is designed for sharing, apps, hummus and mains are all very small. The eggplant main is not worth it, the couscous filling is bland and something you could make at home. Cocktails are okay and the wine selection is decent. I ve been here a few times for brunch and dinner and the experience has been pretty similar. Service has always had a few hiccups - typical Ossington. Whole experience is underwhelming unfortunately.
Ordered falafel and fries. Very sour and the fries were meh. The setup was cute. Given the overwhelming availability of great falafel in Toronto will likely not return.
Excellent tastes of the far east and the Mediterranean.
Came by for brunch, it s located right in the heart of Ossington, inside, there is limited seating or either book online or be prepared to wait some time. The brunch menu consists of hummus, garish, shakshuka, breaks sandwiches, flared etc. We tried a few items, we enjoyed the breaky pita which comes with eggs, latke, and potatoes. The hot beverage menu just offers turkish coffee, which was strong and flavourful. The service was fine, food arrived in a timely manner. Wheelchair accessibility: No barriers
A bit on the pricey side, high protein dish I had today. The eggplant had a sauce on it similar to achaar which was very overwhelming but the eggplant remained crispy through the meal. For what it is I wouldn t pay this price but a good meal.
Home of the $17 potato! A single diced potato cost $17.
Haifa Room is good. Why? The room is beautiful, first. Great design, and beautifully lit. Make no mistake, this is one of the best corners of the city, historical as far as Im concerned. The servers are totally cool and approachable. And the menu features some seriously tasty and creative items. You gotta experience it.
The website mentions Israeli food but everything that was served was Palestinian.
Excellent food and great service from Serene
I had a lovely time here. The atmosphere, people are great. I didn t feel pressured to order too much or little. Just the right amount! I got the falafels and i liked how dense it was and my server, Mitch, recommended it! Def a nice hang out spot :)
Food is amazing ! Always a good time. I come frequently because of how welcoming and attentive the staff are. Great service
Super friendly staff!! Had an amazing conversation with one of them who was so on-top it. Loved the music and interior design! Nice touch!!
Dessert was mouth watering goodness. Cheesecake was fire 10/10. Awesome vibe, servers were so sweet and friendly to talk to! Definitely coming back next time I m in Toronto.
Was excited to go to Haifa House with friends for dinner as none of us had been there before. We ordered Humus, Pita and Falafel. Sadly, we were disappointed with the Falafel so we didnt order anything else. The restaurant is tiny and once filled with patrons becomes quite noisy. After about an hour after we finished eating, we were asked to vacate our table which we would have been happy to do earlier, but we were waiting for bill. We absolutely appreciated the kindness of the staff who accommodated our request to be seated at a table with bench seating/chair instead of the table with tiny stools which were quite uncomfortable.
Aggressively mediocre food. $17 for undercooked potatoes, $8 sparkling water, and $20 for average cocktails. Staff were lovely, though.
A gustariol delight! The decor is reminiscent of Ossington of yore- soaring ceilings faithful to the old architecture of the building, restrained and understated decor were the perfect foil for the high point of the evening - the fare. The fare: Perfectly balanced, restrained where necessary - generous in flavour where demanded. Had the cheese cake for dessert: sublime- but so were the hummus, cauliflower and ribs eye. The evening was a perfect concert for all the senses. Loved every second of our time at this restaurant. Reminded me so much of the old Toronto- pre covid. This establishment is well worth numerous visits. You ve just gotta go- truly.
Kind, attentive staff and delicious meals. I asked for a vegan recommendation and Erica helped me out with a Falafel Lunch Plate, which I loved - great portion, taste, and presentation. The atmosphere is so cozy and buzzing with energy. This place is a must-try if you re in the area! Vegetarian options: Solid choice of veg/vegan options.
This is what solidarity means! I absolutely love the light that comes in this restaurant and that it has a corner storefront. The menu is simple and reasonably priced. We ordered the chicken plate and had falafel on the side. The food was light and flavourful. I love the the cross cultural mix of the presentation of this restaurant. Such a beautiful business to have in Toronto.
Meh food (bland, uninspiring) I know Toronto is not the Middle East and that it is hard to buy fresh tasty produce here, but bother to make up for it with fresh decent spices and decent olive oil! Blergh service high on tude and low on skills. Lovely room but for the love of god ventilate the smoke out properly
Food is great
Been once here, food was good but voted 1 star bc of my experience walking into our dinner reso last time. Greeter ignored us. Sat down. Waited forever to get greeted. I was excited my friend was out of town, I took a picture with my friend. Some guest s head was in the back and he literally yelled at us. I was in shock. He said he charges $500 for pictures of him and I explained I never took a photo of him. We then ignored him as he kept interrupting my friend and I. Probably was on drugs . Or trying to get a free meal. Manager was nice to them but later argued with us and said we need to be aware of others sensitivity; she said the server was uncomfortable to serve us and refused to get our server, mentioned 3 times she s the manager and if we wanted to stay or leave. It was very weird and uncalled for. Contacted the owner, no response. Pic attached. I ve never been treated this way ever!!!! DO NOT GO HERE!
All around a great time. Went with a couple friends to try a few dishes. And get cocktails. Lamb shoulder, stuffed eggplant, falafal, and baby gem salad were all to die for. Great service as well. Would definitely go back!
Good food. Good atmosphere. The usual prices for Ossington. Vegan options Vegetarian options: Hummus, falafel Food : 4/5 |
Wasn t wild about the food. I went with three friends over the long weekend. There was a single staff member working service and she was totally overwhelmed (not her fault that it was understaffed but the service was very slow). I got the Haifa burger, which I didn t care for. There was way too much bun and the bun didn t seem fresh. There was also a fried piece of eggplant in the burger and it tasted cold and soggy. The sauce on the burger was also very under seasoned.
Great place. Casual vibe, friendly service and excellent/interesting food.
Haifa Room has been on my radar for quite some time. Brought my Fiance here for her birthday. Overall, the meal was tasty, but there were some hiccups with the service. We started with the House Pickles, featuring Carrot, Turnip, and Cauliflower. Lacked cucumbers, and the seasoning was average. The Grilled Broccolini appetizer was a standout, perfectly charred with a tasty spice from the harissa and creamy labneh. The Fried Chicken Bites were enjoyable, served with a tangy pink sauce. Unfortunately, they were out of the Charred Cabbage we ordered. The Potatoes arrived separately from our steak and were underwhelming, lacking in texture and flavor variation. Also a small side dish to eat with no main or bread. Our steak arrived and looked similar to the Grilled Brocolini dish. 7 slices or so, on top of labneh. No pita with this dish so had to order it extra. It would have been better if the items were presented in a more cohesive manner to enhance the dining experience. Overall, the dishes tended to blend together, with similar flavors of creamy labneh, honey butter, and similar spices dominating. While tasty, the lack of variety was noticeable. We spent over $150 for two people, including a glass of wine and one beer.
Terrible food, terrible experience. Got very sick after eating here. Food itself does not taste good either and is not at all authentic like it claims to be. If I could rate this place 0 stars I would
fav take out falafel
I really enjoy this lovely little restaurant. Only been here for brunch, but I find the food to be tasty and the atmosphere cozy and chill. Came with my family for a birthday today - we had a baby with us and while this is a small place without a high chair, they went all around the neighbouring restaurants and found one for us, which was really appreciated. The food - garlic potatoes and the fattoush salad are a highlight for me. I dont drink coffee but everyone else seems to really enjoy the Turkish coffee as well. I liked the mint tea they serve as well. Definitely worth checking out and Ill definitely be back for brunch again.
I love it here!! A beautiful spot run by both Israeli and Palestinian folks - together they have created such a special place with incredible food made from recipes that have been passed down from their elders. They have the ability to transport you to their favourite childhood memories thru food. That vision paired with a really cool, chill atmosphere in a cozy space great for people watching - cannot recommend enough!!
The menu seemed to be brunch options eventhough I was ordering around 1pm. I don t eat eggs so I didn t have many options to choose from. My meal wasn t that good it was kind of dry. And they seem to be incorporating many cultures in their space without crediting. Like the Ethiopian coffee cups they use to serve coffee. Servers weren t that friendly either. The hummus was good though. And so is the interior.
food is actually so yummy it s crazy and service is awesome too
It made my friend who didnt like hummus love it, got me and someone else go down nostalgia alley about Middle Eastern food, and was the best freaking meal Ive had in Toronto
Tasty authentic food Vegetarian options: Nice salads Food : 5/5 |
Did the take out bar the chicken pit wrap was unreal! The sauce and seasoning on the chicken was so good, not sure what it was but mixed with the cabbage, cucumber and other goodies it was delicious
We had such a great experience last night. Showed up on time for our reservation and the table wasn t ready, so we were given bubbles and then seated within 10 minutes. Service was fantastic (mostly because of the bartender, who makes a mean martini) and the food was good. Would return!
this is one of the best restaurants in the city. the staff are always on top of it, friendly and attentive. the music and atmosphere are always so spot on. and the food! so delicious and textured and flavourful. ive eaten here on many occasions and have never been disappointed.
Had a lovely evening celebrating my bday this evening. Our server was very attentive to my nut allergy, i think her name was sam. Will definitely be back again!! Food
Had the best time when I finally decided to try it! The hummus this guy makes must be magical, and paired with the fresh pita also really loved my cheesecake and loaded eggplant. Definitely looking forward to come back for the sabich :)
My friend and I are trying to eat low calorie and high protein and we thought we had a great meal at Haifa room, and it wasn t too expensive. The different meats were amazing and the food didn t feel very unhealthy.
The best falafel I ve had in Toronto. Great service and a very welcoming atmosphere.
Food is good but I cant say it is amazing. Worth a try
I didn t like how much oil they added to the oil dishes (felt excessive) but they still tasted good. The pita was super fluffy and yummy and the amount of hummus provided was divine. Service was perfect and atmosphere was chill, pretty sweet place to grab a drink or for a casual bite
Very disappointing food lacked flavour.. the restaurant advertises itself as something and it fails to live up to it
The food and service was fantastic. A gem of a restaurant.
One of the best restaurants in Toronto. Their toum is tasty and subtle. Their falafel are unfortunately below par. Their desserts were perfect. I like that it is a middle eastern restaurant with non stereotypical ambience. The prophet cocktail Also be careful The prices in their paper menu are sometimes not up to date. One of our dishes was pricier than displayed on our menu. They agreed on giving us back the difference. Very fair move in our case. Strongly recommend this place.
Absolutely delicious, authentic and beautifully prepared food and a great atmosphere! Couldn t ask for any more than that! Will definitely return.
Visited The Haifa Room in Toronto and was thoroughly impressed. The menu, featuring delights like humous, falafal, hot chicken, and lamb shoulder, was outstanding. Each dish was full of flavour, perfectly seasoned, and absolutely delicious. The highlight was the kanafeh for dessert a sweet end to a fantastic meal. To What set this dining experience apart was the great service and the unique, flavourful handcrafted cocktails. Highly recommend The Haifa Room for anyone seeking top-quality Middle Eastern cuisine in Toronto. A true culinary gem!
One cocktail each, split the smoky mushroom hummus and chicken bites. Topped it off with a lemon ricotta knafe. Great dinner!
Came in for a dinner reservation. Took a while to get seated and order. Apart from the mushroom hummus (which was amazing), the food was just good. Only eating plant based dishes meant that everything just started tasting the same (shared flavours and textures for the most part). Our server was okay, not rude, just really chatty with the other server. Overall, it was an okay experience. No regrets trying it but not something I would recommend.
Food is good but overpriced for the quantity served. Service is abysmal. Im all about paying $$$ for good food, but this just wasnt worth it, especially when staff are this rude. Service was horrendous. We walked in, put our name down for a table and returned after about 30 mins and were told there were still no tables available. Totally cool, we understand and were super polite and friendly throughout. There was space at the bar so we asked if we could sit there. Our server was very rude initially. When we told her we would be fine sitting at the bar, she walked away from us and we didnt know whether to follow or not. She threw a couple of menus carelessly at what would be our seats and thats when we realized we were supposed to follow. She then tossed a couple of glasses and a carafe of water and walked away again. It was a little jarring to be honest. We ordered the kofta, broccoli, and cabbage roll and a drink. The food did not come out together, the very small koftas came out first (after quite a while) and just sat there until the pita and remaining dishes staggeringly followed after at least 15 minutes. Unacceptable considering the limited seating and large number of staff in the kitchen. Sitting at the bar, we saw the bartender pop a few olives in her mouth and proceed to make drinks and cut fruit for them...not the most hygienic. I definitely dont want dirty hands touching my food/drinks. Overall, the food was good flavour wise but they need to step up their service and expectations of staff, especially in an open concept kitchen. Photos are zoomed in.
Been meaning to try Haifa Room for a while, due in large part to its prominent location. Unfortunately, our experience was quite disappointing. The service was too slow. Our waitress was polite, but they desperately needed another food runner + an additional, more experienced cook. It took approx. 1hr to prep and serve 4 dishes and the steak, which came last, was served to us cold and thus sent back so over 1 1/2 hr all told. Not the staff s fault, mgmt. clearly understaffed the restaurant. Some of the food was decent, but the steak was served room temp the 1st time and undercooked the 2nd time. The cook was either too overloaded to execute it properly or too inexperienced or both. This also falls on mgmt. It felt like the staff was not set up for success. The portions, primarily the proteins, were quite small given the price points. A 5-6 oz. steak for $32 & 2 small koftas for $17. The value just isn t there. Overall, the poor meal-timing really took away from the overall experience. I would not recommend Haifa Room. There are much better options in the area. 2 stars.
So glad we have Haifa in our hood. Food is always sooooo good but I also love the music and the vibe. Staff are great. Lovely touches like Turkish coffee and real mint tea.
This was our first time at Haifa Room. We enjoyed the experience trying out different kinds of dishes. I would recommend trying this restaurant out you will not be disappointed. Furthermore, our waitress was very helpful and friendly and allowed us to stay a little longer than the usual time limit.
Edit: dropping rating down to two stars because both times I ve ordered the side zhug/sauce was missing. Ordered for my first time via Uber today. I selected the beef kebab plate. The kebabs were fairly good. Overall the meal was somewhat disappointing since they toss everything into one box. Warm meat on top of cold salad isn t ideal. Plus the menu indicated a side sauce/zhug was included but it was missing. The meal would have probably been much better if I dined in.
Bad service. Not authentic at all.
Restaurant smelled amazing the moment we stepped inside. Super friendly staff. My wife and I ordered the kofta, mushroom hummus and some amazing dish with grilled rapini. Real nice.
Honestly, one of the best (if not THE best), falafel sandwiches in the city comes with a side of delicious, crispy, thick fries
Delicious food, love that there are so many great shareable options! Amazing atmosphere and super friendly staff, highly recommend!
Food tastes artificial, almost like the flavors are a counterfeit. Owner is rude and dismissive
Lovely spot, great service and incredible food. Tasty and original. We tried the humours with carrots, labneh with pomegranate and Brussels sprouts, the steak, the lamb, and more stuff. Delish! Will go back and recommend.
Food was very good with a variety of flavours and sauces across all dishes! However, the establishment lacks an adequate level of service and cleanliness. Greeted with a cold and somewhat disinterested attitude and the menu and surrounding floors were dirty.
Cozy little restaurant. The food was amazing, especially the lamb. Servers had a good attention to details and gave good recommendations. I wish i could have tasted the wine before he poured me a whole glass but that s the only thing I would change in my experience at Haifa Room.
Great location, decent food. Terrible service. Edit - still terrible service and food has gotten worse. Head up the street to Azhar for a better experience. Food : 3/5
I eat here several times a month. It s become my favourite place to go for food that reminds me of my childhood. The falafel are the best I ve ever had, and it s always fresh and delicious. If I could eat breakfast lunch and dinner here, I would. Also, if you have food allergies or intolerances, they are more than happy to accommodate you!
Great cocktails and super nice servers
The food presentation is superb, however, the portion size doesnt match the value for the money paid. The taste is great, but considering the cost, a larger portion would make it a more satisfying experience.
All around fantastic food! Service was on point and definitely order the hummus.
To die for brunch. The most scrumptious shakshouka with warm pita. Just perfectly done poached eggs. Rich coffee with Cardamom. The salmon pickle was just the right amount of tart and savoury with the onions. Wish I wasn t driving after looking at cocktails at other tables. Best roast potatoes I ve ever had. I m a fan.
I found Haifa to be extremely overpriced for what I got. The food was good as was the service but I expected higher quality for that high price. For breakfast and a Turkish coffee I spent about 40$
Follow @bredgyeats for more food posts! Came here based on a friends reccomendation, and it absolutely did not disappoint. At first, the falafel primes our appetite with perfectly cooked consistency, crisp on the outside and moist on the inside. The zhug added a salty, herbally kick while the tahini added more body and moisture in each bite. However, that lamb shoulder was impeccable, but isnt for everything due to its intense gaminess. Luckily I love its distinct aroma thats delivered in a fork tender piece of lamb thats braised to perfection thats served on a bed of roasted veggies and a medley of three colourful sauces. The toum, tahini and yogurt sauce really make sure you dont get tired of each bite of lamb, either by complimenting its richness of balancing it with tang.
All of the bases are covered. Cool ambiance, sympa service, and well known Levant dishes with personal accents. Ive tasted many great plates from the region, including the home-cooked kind and wow. These dishes hit the spot. My standout plate was the fried Brussel labneh. The hint of honey and pomegranate was mind-blowing. Served with the freshly grilled fluffy gallette/pita it was magic. My 18 year old loved it too. I also tasted the hummus, merguez, hot chicken, pickled legs and kofta. All were delightful, but that fried Brussel.. oooohhhweeee hamdoulilaaah I did not get to try out the cocktail menu, Ill save that for my next visit. Even though I was there with a toddler, I wouldnt suggest it as a kid friendly space, but the staff were extremely accommodating, and that is priceless. Cant wait to return, Sahtein!
I ve been trying to get a reservation here for many (many) months, but I have to be straight: not really worth the hype/wait. The service was really slow, servers weren t particularly friendly/engaging with our table they seemed rushed and disinterested. We had a reservation at 6, and at 7:10, we were told we had 20 minutes left to eat. At that point we had only had appetizers. (They didn t tell us we had a 90-minute time limit when we arrived - also not expressed when I booked the reservation online), so we had to order fast food that the kitchen could make quickly so we could be done by 730 we were turned down on many options we wanted because our server said we didn t have the time. I don t think I would make the effort to go back It s not like it was totally bad, but it wasn t all that memorable - just kinda average? Plates were small. The food we did have was delicious, but I wouldn t say it was above average or particularly great.
Food for us was okay, but a great wait and bartender staff and wonderful and high energy atmosphere. I will definitely be back!!!!
I love this restaurant. Such a yummy place and good vibez. Highly recommended
I had a great meal here. Our server was lovely. Even though she had lost her voice, she was still trying to make jokes and have a nice conversation. It was a little expensive for the serving sizes, but, it was really delicious
Great middle Eastern snack bar. The foods are in great portions to order a few and share for larger groups. I absolutely loved their hot Chicken. They also have an order to go to the section where they serve sandwiches like kebab or Falafel.
Beautiful and delicious food. Lovely service
A week ago, my partner had ordered order for her and I. When we got the order, a constituent part of my entree was missing; not sure how but these things can happen. Luckily I lived closed enough to the restaurant that I was able to go by and let them know what was missing. Within a few minutes, they had replaced my entree entirely and without any hesitation. I order food from here occasionally and am never disappointed! The food always tastes great, and the service is impeccable! Highly recommend.
It s just the view, nothing more
Overpriced, overrated, small portions, and even it takes a long time to see how small is your food.
Pretty good. Some dishes were better than others. One we had - the pickles - was just fine and kinda boring. The grilled peach hummus is Fantastic. As is the charred cabbage. Two highlights. The restaurant is really cool and charming - but for one wee stretch it was so loud we couldn t hear each other very well. Didn t last long though.
Lovely bitta brunch. Turkish Coffee, Hummus, Pita, Kofta, roasted spuds and the delicious hot harissa honey sauce all very excellent. Served by the lovely Katy First time there. Will return for sure!
Excellent food, portions are small (especially hummus)
My favourite restaurant ever Best staff and food and vibes
Passed by this lil resto on the corner for so long and finally tried it out!! The food was phenomenal, the fried chicken and hummus dishes were amazing. It s a little crammed inside given it s such a small restaurant, a great place for a quick bite:)
Honestly, I was looking forward to this place but the service was very bad and slow. Don t expect to get a lot of food. Portions are very small. I found it doesn t really represent Middle Eastern food. I was very disappointed. It took 35 minutes for the falafel to show up. I think the waiter thought that we re idiots because she obviously forgot to place the order but wasn t honest about that. FYI never seen a bar tender/waiter wearing shorts in a restaurant. No one wants to see your hairy legs while I eat lmao
Stopped in for the first time for coffee and a sweet but became enamored with the beautifully decorated small space and aroma of the savory dishes. Friendly staff guided us through the menu and recommended their kunefe, a not to be missed desert, and their traditional coffee, best drunk quickly. Im looking forward to coming back for dinner. Waiters rude, food bad, would never visit again
Just had Tuekish coffee for the bill came out at $25. The most expensive coffee Ive ever had, and it just tasted like Cardomom tea, tooo much cardomom spice in their coffee that you cant even taste the coffee. Do not recommend the coffee at all. Didnt have food so cant comment on the food. Service was okay since we only had one order
Really delicious meal here the other day. Will be returning.
Liked the vibes but the food was so over priced for what it is The service is okayish and the seating is cozy We ordered the falafel, roasted potatoes and hot chicken, the same food is priced differently for lunch and dinner Will probably go back but won t be my top choice or recommendation, you can save your buck or try out other options
Great food, bad service.
Worst food lacking ..
We placed a big order for Dinner for for halloween. Before we took kids out trick or treating. We ordered with plenty of time in advance. This resto cancelled 45 minutes after we ordered and 20 minutes before we were expecting it. They messed up our plans.
What a great spot, food, service, atmosphere was all 5+. Places like this is why we love Toronto. My daughter recommended Haifa and as always she was spot on. We started with the house hummus, delicious, coffee and then roasted potatoes and the best Skakshouka. Thank you for the lovely, delicious, chill Sunday. We will be back.
Service and food is amazing Turkish coffee is my favourite Food
Came here for my sister s birthday for Brunch. Their meal selection is quite limited for Brunch so expect to share appetizers. The falafel and roasted potatoes were so good!
Delicious food and great service!
One of my local faves! Their hummus is by far one of the best I have ever had.
Great experience! Love the vibe, and the food
It got really bad. You cannot even have a falafel plate with a drink in the restaurant.
I really wanted to like this place because the vibes are great but the food was really disappointing. We got the eggplant and cod, both of which just lacked in flavour. With this kind of environment and the typically pricing for the area, I expected much, much more.
A falafel that blends the best of 2 worlds. A hummus to put differences aside, as Ali G intended
Outstanding Hummus. Lovely warm pita. Delicious falafel and a tahini Harissa sauce that will blow your mind. Turkish coffee like a real coffee and excellent service. If you find yourself in these parts, do stop by for a great meal. Their takeout was superb too...we bought the chicken and the beef / lamb shwarma.
The Haifa Room is a smaller restaurant with both small and large plates with a good selection of wine, and middle eastern inspired cocktails. I tried the hummus, Nazareth hot chicken, and roasted potatoes. Those three plates were very filling. The food itself was tasty with a bit of heat. I wish I was a bit more adventurous with my order as the food was what I expected vs impressed with. My only complaint was that it was quite loud with the music, so I had a hard time hearing the rest of my table.
Had a wonderful solo lunch here. Food hit the spot, great service and warm and cozy atmosphere.
Not authentic at all
Best boneless lamb and delicious ice cream. Great spot!
Always taking 20 mints waiting on the pick up order.
Really delicious food and wide range of options for different palate. Service excellent and friendly. I loved the chicken platter. Everything tasted fresh, healthy and full of flavour. I highly recommend the Haifa room if you re looking for an authentic middle eastern cuisine. 100 stars for the team at the Haifa room. Can t wait to come back. I loved the hummus and falafels too. Yum! The salads also were really fresh and delicious.
