I love visiting this restaurant. Food is delicious. Service is friendly. Worth every penny. When you first walk in, you are greeted by the friendly staff. Once seated and reviewing the menu, you hit your first challenge, trying to decide what to order as everything looks good. After ordering you get a chance to admire the decor of the restaurant. It is the little details that I have come to admire as it tells little stories. When the food arrives (which is not a long wait) I get so happy. It just tastes good. Every dish I have tried has been good. But dont take my word for it, give it a try and enjoy! Vegetarian options: They have a vegetarian section. And if you have dietary restrictions, you can discuss them to figure out what would be suitable for you.

Herby restaurant is a gem! The food was bursting with authentic Persian flavors, perfectly seasoned kebabs, fragrant saffron rice, and delicious stews and mouth watering appetizers. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the service was top-notch. Don t miss the Persian tea and ice cream! Highly recommend for an unforgettable dining experience.

This is an excellent newish restaurant specializing in Persian cuisine. Really lovely on the inside. Terrific service, atmosphere, and food. Cost quite reasonable. Had the loobia polo, baklava, and Turkish coffee. Highly recommended. Have gone there several other times since I posted the review above, including this evening for dinner. This is a terrific restaurant. If you want delicious food, in a truly beautifully decorated restaurant, with attentive service and quiet, beautiful background music, run - dont walk to Herby at 397 Danforth Avenue in Toronto.

Great atmosphere; very chill and calm. We got the deal for two for three of us for dinner and it was more than enough. It came with an eggplant dip with bread and vine leaves stuffed with rice as appetizers. Both were delicious! For the main, we chose ghormeh sabzi (it was not great at all), and chicken fesenjan (delicious!). It came with rice, butter and sumac. For dessert we chose the rose syrup soaked cake which is their specialty. It was okay. It came with black tea. Overall a great experience. I may visit again. Vegetarian options: KashkeBadamjan is extremely yummy. I could have it for my main.

One of the best Iranian restaurants in town if you haven t tried it yet, you should. The food is both delicious and healthy. I had the vegetarian ghormeh sabzi with mushrooms, served with rice and salad. The portion was perfectly balanced in richness and flavour. The stew was aromatic and non-spicy, with black-eyed beans, spinach, fenugreek, and mushrooms. The rice had just a hint of salt and butter, making it tasty but not overly rich. The salad was fresh and nutritious, with kale, tomatoes, pomegranate seeds, spinach, and chickpeas, lightly dressed with lemon. The service was excellent warm and unhurried. The value for the quality and experience was very reasonable, and you can tell they care about using good ingredients and take pride in their work.

We had Gheymeh and Zereshpolo. Gheymeh was fair (pricey though, $28 ) but Zereshpolo was not tasty at all. Our server was so nice. Food : 3/5

I stumbled upon this place in early Spring and fell in love immediately. I sadly forgot the name of the restaurant for a few months until I decided to try to look for it again and thankfully I found it just in time for my birthday. I have been thinking about the zeytoon parvardeh for months. I dont live anywhere near Herby but it was worth the travel

This place does not offer Persian food. The food is garbage, and all the top reviews are from paid food critics that do anything for money. It is an overpriced restaurant with foods that are advertised as Persian but are anything but. Its just shocking that its owner brags about his food so much by coming to each table and advertising the garbage he sells. He is a fraud and anything but a Persian cook.

Amazing persian food, prepared with care and expertise. I had the kashk e bademjan, the chicken fesenjan (to die for) and the rose sorbet with pistachio ice cream. Everything was absolutely lovely, fresh and nicely presented. Must try.

Like many others, Im puzzled by the high rating this restaurant has received. Despite the pleasant atmosphere and good service, this is easily the worst Persian food Ive had in Toronto. As someone who is Persian and has dined at nearly all Iranian restaurants in the city, I expected far better. The prices are steep, but they dont reflect the portion size, quality, or overall experience. When youre charging over $50 per dish and still using paper towels, its a sign that something is off. Heres a breakdown of the issues with the dishes: Shirazi Salad: The hallmark of this salad is its finely chopped vegetables, balanced seasoning, and fresh flavors. Unfortunately, the cucumbers and tomatoes were cut so large it resembled a store-bought salad. The seasoning was off, and there were barely any onions. Kababs: None of the kababs are cooked over charcoal. Im fairly certain they re pan-fried at best, though my barge tasted more like it had been boiled. Chicken: While the chicken was tasty, it didn t taste Persian. The seasoning cumin and other spices gave it more of a Greek or Lebanese flavor. Theres nothing wrong with that, except that it s not what you expect at a Persian restaurant. Kashk-e-Bademjoon: Although low in fat and flavorful, this dish didn t resemble traditional kashk-e-bademjoon. Worse, it had clearly been microwaved, with one side hot and the other cold. Overall, the food is overpriced, barely passable, and certainly not authentic Persian.

You can taste love in every bite!!! I ve tried almost every restaurant in Danforth area, and this is definitely one of the my favorites!

My husband and I had the vegetarian tasting option - amazing, flavourful food, and very gracious and kind service. We chose Herby after heading to the Danforth from the west end of the city for an event at the Music Hall, but absolutely make the trip just to eat here again

The food is very overpriced and I m very small portions. The quality is alright. It s mostly authentic but the taste is mediocre for their price. We had three people, our bill came out to 140 dollars. The server however was extremely polite and kind. She was amazing and very kind. The owner was overly talkative and stayed at our table for very long. I will not be coming back again. I don t recommend it.

Delicious and flavourful stews! The fesenjan and gheymeh bademjan are outstanding! we ate here for my friends birthday! We adored it, feasted like kings. I tried the fesenjan and it wan t like anything i ve eaten before, such beautiful new tastes and I love the atmosphere as well :)

This is an authentic Iranian restaurant. The chicken koobideh was really good, and the food itself was fresh and delicious. Side dishes were a bit overpriced, but the spacious setting in a lovely neighborhood makes it worthwhile. Would definitely be coming back!

Absolutely amazing! The food was authentic with perfect portions, leaving just enough room for dessert and Persian tea. The owner/chef came out to greet us and ask about our meals, which was kind. They also had a highchair available, which was very thoughtful. The service was great toooooo! 10/10!

Ive been a customer here since the store opened, and Ive seen their prices rapidly go up, and quality go down. The quality is extremely inconsistent - sometimes you get something amazing, and other times youll get something thats (without exaggeration) inedible. I cant explain it unless theyre churning kitchen staff frequently. If you order takeout with any kind of customization or addon you will be missing the addons every time. Sometimes you will even be missing entire entrees. The service is a mess.

The food is THE BEST! Can t go wrong with anything on the menu but the cheese koobideh is the best. I come back for it every time!

This is a homey, comfortable restaurant with a lovely ambience. Food, for the four of us was very good though not the best Persian my wife and I have ever eaten. My chicken dish had delicious gravy but the cubes of chicken were very dry and firm. Since I only rate 5 stars for exceptional, I think my overall rating of 4 - 41/2 stars is appropriate. Prices are moderate and fair. Our server was exceptionally charming and professional. We would return.

The rice is coated with an aromatic sheen in ghee that gives it a rich aroma and is perfect with a bite of beef, and then the burst of sweetness from the charred tomato.

Is it mindblowing and the best Persian food I ve ever had? No. It s pretty good. The portions are quite small though, especially the fesenjan. Regardless, it s still deserving of a 5/5 in my humble opinion.

Quality gone down so much since last time I was there. Meat tasted weird like soap in it.

The food had a horrible smell and it was not possible to eat at all so when we asked to talk to the manager the waitress told us he could not come and talk to you, We insisted and then the guy who was the chef and the manager came and talked to us in a way that we wanted to not pay the money, he was super rude.

Phenomenal experience! Excellent food and service. My friends and I were thoroughly impressed by the meal. We ended sharing some dips (side sample platter) as well as the Zereshk Polo & Chicken and the Ghorme Sabzi. Persian baklava cake was also on point. We would totally head back again!!!

I would give this place a 10/10. The ambiance, the service, and most importantly, the food is excellent! I really appreciate their wide variety of vegan and vegetarian options. If you re visiting as a group, I would recommend their vegetarian sample platter as you get full sized portions and you can try several dishes of your choice. Chef Javad visited us at our table and is the sweetest person ever! You can really feel the love in the food, and I will definitely be returning for it

Recently went here with my family and was thirsty for the whole day. The food was decent, pretty standard Persian dishes. A lot of rice for the amount of meat on a standard plate. Definitely order a second skewer if you are getting the koobideh plate. Overall it was an ok experience.

I had dinner at this restaurant with my family. The food for one of us came super late after everybody finished their meal, after I asked and they brought the late meal, it was too salty. We ordered koobideh with bread but they brought it with rice, the ghormeh sabzi stew was the worst ghorme sabzi I ever had, the gheyme stew s split pea was uncooked. Dizi was not good and it was dry, The service wasnt good and the price was high. I wont go there again. Not recommend Vegetarian options: They have multiple vegetarian options which is good, but they dont taste good at all

Having been visiting from out of town, we were looking for a good Persian restaurant to give us a flavour of home, and this restaurant did just that. We ordered a LOT of food, including the Royal Platter, three appetizers, BBQ potatoes, and finished it off with some chai and baklava cake and every bite we had felt like we were back in Iran. To top it all off, the chef dropped by every table to greet them. Absolutely lovely atmosphere, service, and food. Will certainly come back when we re in town again. The food was so good I forgot to take pictures of our mains, but was able to capture one of the desserts.

An overrated and overpriced place. The Royal platter came with beef fillet, chicken breast and Koobideh. Very disappointed with the meat. Beef fillet didn t get seasoned/marinated well, a bit smelled. Chicken Breast was lack of taste and dry. Koobideh was okay. Gheymeh Bademjan, tomato based stew, was best out of all the orders. Meat was rich and juicy. For side sample, marinated olives came in heavy/spicy taste. Eggplant and Spinach were disappointing. Staff was nice and the chef came to introduce himself and say hi to customers. Environment was clean and cozy. But the food was really disappointing, not worth the price TBH.

Food is a bit too plain in general. I shouldve expected this but its more underwhelming than I thought. Not bad at all though. Decent overall.

Went out with friends who never tried Persian food and they picked Herby on the Danforth. The variety of traditional Persian dishes available in vegetarian versions will make this my number 1 place to recommend vegetarians who want to try Persian food. Chef Javad was great and made a variety of dishes for us try . Loved the desert!

This place really surprised me , beautiful display arts from Tabriz , Iran , the great choice of music , such a relaxing ambiance, I felt like I was miles away , the food was out of this world very fresh , the Aroma was taking me back to my childhood and my grandmother s kitchen , the meat was tender melted in my mouth, the mixture of butter and rice ! Im crafting this review with a conscious effort to go beyond just the culinary aspects. As someone who has grown up immersed in Iranian cuisine, I am evaluating this restaurant on the entire dining experience it offers. The ice cream, kebab, and tea were standout delights for me. What truly enhanced our visit, however, was the personal touch from the chef. He took the time to come over, engage in a friendly chat with us, generously refill our rice dish, and interact with our children in a way that made us feel genuinely valued and cared for.

A bit pricey compared to the portions but everything tastes delicious and unique. Fesenjoon, kebab and ghormesabzi with cheese were my favorite ones. I don t recommend the mini potatoes though.

I dont want to be a bad person, but I wonder why their reviews points are that high ... as an iranian, their food was sort of garbage ... we ordered kashk bademjoon, which the eggplant was from can .. not cooked there with some watery kashk and fried onion from can also ... our kebabs were not good ... too dry, especially lamb koobideh and rice, was uncooked and hard to swallow.. and my friend ordered a celery stew, and it was like a nightmare if you wanna compare to the real one very bad .... beyond bad , again wonder why they have these good reviews . Im not going there, never... ever ,,, not recommended at all PS only their borani yogurt was good,

We had a great experience with good portion. The tea was exquisite. The rose scented sugar was something I have never had before. The beef koobideh was a must try. We highly recommend it. The Fesenjan stew was also very interesting.

I loved the Ghormeh Sabzi! Although it was not a traditional one (it was actually Tabrizi-style), it was very tasteful and all the spice were just the right amount. The saffron ice cream was amazing. Sarhad was very kind and helpful! Unfortunately, the restaurant is an expensive one! Also, I only wish the music was also a traditional one :)

Beautifully designed and surprisingly spacious restaurant on the Danforth with excellent service, great ambiance and delicious food. We ordered the cheese koubideh, the tava kebab and the royal platter and everything was perfect. The beef was well seasoned, the chicken was juicy, and the rice was rich. Portions are generous although a bit pricey so brace your wallets. It is absolutely worth it though for the high quality ingredients. It was our first time trying persian and we would definitely come again.

Oh WOW is all I can say. Sorcha the Irish server was nothing short of excellent. She needs a raise if you ask me!! Her service was impeccable and she gave great recommendations to suit my dietary needs. The food was also amazing. I had the beef fillet and my date had the chicken koobideh. 10/10 Herby. Popped by for a quiet weekday dinner. The food and the service were both amazing. The dolma and chicken breast were some of the best Ive ever had.

This is a hands down the best Persian restaurant in Toronto! Healthy ingredients and the amazing culinary style of Tabriz (which is unique among Persian cuisine styles) makes the dining experience in this restaurant a memorable one for sure. We will definitely plan to come back soon.

Food was incredible. You can taste the difference the ingredients and cooking techniques. We came as a group of 4 and had the family size platter. Very generous portions and timing for the courses was perfect. We loved all the kebobs, Piti, Kashk e badrmjan, Gheymeh and all the desserts. Basically everything we tried was amazing

We hosted our corporate New Year Party at Herby Restaurant. The inviting ambiance and Iranian-inspired decor created the ideal celebratory setting. Kudos to the staff for their professionalism and exceptional service, ensuring our group felt welcomed throughout the event. The food was absolutely wonderful.

Love this place! All the food is so delicious. The service is kind and earnest. The chef/owner Herby comes out afterwards to ask how we enjoyed the food. My favourite was the Lamb Koobifeh but the Zereshk Polo Chicken was great too as are the stews. From the vegetarian menu the mushroom Ghormeh Sabzi stew was nice and also a unique offering from the chefs home town of Tabriz. The fesenjan with apricot was nice, on the sweet side, so the kids liked it. Great addition to the food diversity on the Danforth. Give them a try! Vegetarian options: Section of vegetarian stews.

Ordered today for the first time from Uber eats. Not sure how this restaurant has such a high review ! Compared to other Iranian restaurants the quality is low and the portions are small. Overall didn t meet my expectations. Not gonna order from this place any more.

Horrible spent 21 on an appetizer and they gave me 3 little pieces of bread when I ordered 3 dips. This place was highly over priced for the dinners there are many places that are much better food and much better value if you want Persian food. I ve been wanting to come to this place for a while, and finally did, omg didn t expect the food and the service to be this good. It s was beyond my expectations

first time trying herby. as an iranian who has tried many rest around the GTA i would give them 3-4stars. the place is very cute, we ll decorated, LOVE the traditional table by the front. The food & service were a little lacking. I ordered the LAMB KOOBIDEH, which should ve been more tender than the minced beef but instead was crispy on the outside & hard to cut into. it wasn t juicy or thick, rather skinny crispy and thin. i also asked for no onions in my salad or plate & the waiter said there wouldn t be & there was my friend ordered the ZERESHK POLO & the chicken was dry & barely flavoured, also it usually comes with the chicken stew juice on the side or on it but had to ask for it. overall it wasn t that tasty. The best thing was the trio sample appetiser and their persian tea, they were both 5/5 & the tea even got a wow. overall, i loved the app & tea, the meal was okay, and the service could just be a bit more attentive to detail. good location, worth a try.

We had 2 stews, national dish of Iran, very delicious, not stingy on meat, tasty traditional tea and desert. Warm atmosphere, exceptional service.

Probably one of the worst food experiences I ve ever had. Most of the food was terrible (ice cream, salad, and rice were good, the stews were somehow edible, the kebabs were bad. The barg/beef fillet was particularly gross). While the waiter was a very nice gentleman, once we politely expressed our dislike of the kebab the owner came in and started a heated conversation on why we re wrong and how he doesn t want Iranians visiting his restaurants because they always complain about taste of his food. They also overcharged us. Overall, the owner created a hostile environment and ruined the rest of our day.

We ordered a platter and asked to upgrade chicken kebab to beef kebab and agreed to pay the difference. The food presentation was nice. However, the dishes were too small and the big tray didn t fit the table size. There were no room to put the plates on the table beside the big tray. The tray platter included yogurt, kashke bademjoon, salad, and barbari nan. The best part was barbari. Yogurt and Salad were nice. But the eggplant dish was not the kashke bademjoon, it was something else made with eggplant. Rice was an acceptable basmati rice, ghorme sabzi, was nice but was not the Persian ghorme sabzi. It tasted more like a combination of beans and ghalie Mahi. The taste was not bad, but it was definitely not ghorme sabzi! We also ordered fesenjoon. I didn t like it as the texture was too soft, and the taste of the chicken was not good. Koobideh had a nice presentation, and edible. It was a bit too spicy, but overall acceptable. The worst food was the beef kebab. It looked like a kebab that you made a week ago, put it in the freezer, and reheat it in microwave to burn. We asked the waiter to return the kebab. A few min later, the restaurant owner came to convince us they use the most expensive and highest quality ingredients and Iranian customers expect to eat only one type of food in all restaurant. He explained that their ghorme sabzi has the taste of Tabriz. We told him that we didn t complain about any other food on the table. He tried to convince us that we don t have an idea how a beef kebab should be and all restaurant in north York uses chemicals in their kebab to make it tender but he does not. He started accusing Iranian customer to have high expectation about food. He believed each restaurant can have their own food receipt and he believes his food is the best and so on. He explained the food is made for non Iranians and he doesn t want Iranian customers to come to his restaurant!!! I felt so, upset. Imagine coming to a restaurant with your family and the restaurant owner say that! After his 10 min lecture finished, I told him we are sorry to came to your restaurant and we left without finishing our food or desert. The waiter kindly packed our desert. I should say, luckily the ice cream was not made by them and it tasted good. We paid for complete price of platter, tea and desert and left the restaurant with great disappointment. My hand were shaking as I was not in such conversations for long time and was shocked by his rude behaviour. I don t know what the restaurant s owner was trying to achieve by such nasty behaviour. I will never go to this restaurant and ruin my weekend and not recommend anyone to waste their time and money there. The waiter was a polite person who could not understand Persian. Apparently they had such experiences before and tried to make us happy after the owner left. The owner clearly said he doesn t want Iranian customers.

Herbys was amazing! The food was bursting with flavour. The chef, who is such a lovely human, came out to talk to the customers. A really quaint and tranquil place to eat at!

Ordered the Buy One Get One loobia polo from Herby through Uber Eats, expecting a hearty meal. Received shockingly small portions that failed to meet even a single person s appetite. The deal implied a feast but delivered a sample at best. This isn t the generous Persian hospitality I know and love. Customers beware: what looks like a deal may leave you hungry and dissatisfied.

Our first time here and it definitely wont be our last! Restaurant is very clean and had a nice aesthetic. There was live music this evening and he played a lovely mix of Azeri/Turkish songs. The serving staff were fast and very nice. Javad, the owner/chef came out to our table to say hello; he was very nice and welcoming. Our group of 3 ordered Kash Bademjan and pickled veg to start (both were yummy and I especially loved the barbari bread that came with it). For mains, we had the royal platter (for 2) and a Tava kebab dish. The portions were so big that it was a feat to finish it all. All very flavour, delicious and authentic. This is the best Persian restaurant weve tried in Toronto, and my mother in law visiting from Iran thought it was great.

Amazing food and service. The kabobs are so tender and juicy. The ice cream sandwiches were also really good. The owner/chef was so nice and personable and personally came to greet us.

I visit this Persian restaurant regularly and have invited my non-Persian and Persian friends to this restaurant many times. All of them enjoyed the food, specially Koobideh, my favourite too! Service is always great and never disappoints.

I ordered barberry rice with chicken. It was completely similar to the patients food. Boiled chicken. A few tasteless barberries. Very poor quality rice.
