Ordered on Skip and everything was delicious! If you are reading reviews trying to decide if you should order or go there then YES you should! It s my first Detroit style and is definitely a different pizza experience. It s a lot heavier feeling than a normal slice but the flavours are awesome and it s very filling.

The service was a 4/5. The greeting couldve been a bit more welcoming and inviting. As for the electric avenue pizza, it was A1, total compliments to the chefs. Descendants is a very well reviewed establishment that is visited by people from all around the GTA and beyond. The welcome should be uplifting when you walk in the door. It wasnt horrible but there could definately be improvement at the front. Each customer should be welcomed with a friendly smile when they enter and given attention during their transaction. Thanks for the great pizza though. December 2024 UPDATE: I came back to edit my review. I came last week to get an electric avenue pizza to go. I had my service dog with me in the car, so the lady came out and helped me process my payment!!!!! Amazingly accommodating and as per usual, a delicious pizza... Thanks for the amazing service!

Ordered a small Electric Avenue through DoorDash for my girlfriend. She s a very picky eater but loved the za! It does come with a premium price tag for the quantity you get, but the quality easily makes up for it. Definitely give this shop a visit.

Management is awful. I ordered a DAIRY FREE truffle pizza on skip the dishes on Tuesday. I paid over $38 with an extra charge for vegan cheese. When I got the pizza it was NOT VEGAN. they gave me a regular truffle pizza. I ve called the store over 3 times & none of the employeees have helped me. I was told the manager would email or call me back. Nobody has reached out. I find it beyond frustrating the lack of customer service & care they give.

I had an issue with naming of their pizzas. When I was ordering delivery I gave my friend phone to pick pizza and he told me get dad or daddy something. So I scrolled the menu and see gat daddy and ordering it. When it came I realized its not what we wanted coz we dont eat pork sausage, and he meant to get daddys favorite. We ended up with a large 50$ pizza that noone ate. I bet it might be good for those who like pork sausage but I couldnt appreciate it. Just maybe have one line item with something related to dads. Just a suggestion

Excellent pizza

Anyone reading these reviews please do not take anyone serious who only has 1 review to there name. The same bullshit happens at my restaurant when I ask for warmer bags 1 star reviews from idiots. Sorry this is happening to you guys. Keep up the good work in bring attention to this problem to uber and Google.

Not all delivery drivers deliver for a living. Your comments undermine delivery drivers. Service and delivery workers should not be treated like they are beneath others when they are doing work for the people. I mean, someone has to do these jobs, no? You should know best.

DISCLAIMER. I have not tried the pizza but as someone who has often gotten ice cold food no matter how much I tipped delivery apps I want to applaud this business for standing up for customers and refusing drivers delivery without a proper delivery bag. Uber and Door Dash will blame the customer if they complain too much yet it has been impossible to get decent orders from these apps. From the apps stacking deliveries which are sitting for so long to them not even coming with a delivery bag to keep it warm or restaurants repeatedly missing items. No one wants to reheat their food they just paid a fortune for in fees. They are getting bad reviews from the odd disgruntled driver but listen here if you are a driver we as customers expect the bare minimum!

Amazingly delicious pizza. I dont get pizza anywhere else anymore. Friendly staff too. Ive been buying pizza here monthly for a few years and they only once got my order slightly wrong unlike Pizza Nova that almost never got it right.

Easily one of my top 3 favourite pizza restaurants in Toronto, and by far the best Detroit style pizza. Its my go to spot whenever we are on the east side of town. Descendant easily holds its own for me compared to some of the top Detroit style pizza places in both Detroit and NYC. If its too busy to sit down, Ive ordered to go and brought to a brewery in the area. Highly recommend!!

We drive from the west end to get this pizza. So many flavorful types and vegetarian options that you wouldnt even miss meat. My personal favorite is the jerk chicken. I dream of this pizza.

Uber drivers are useless at the best of times. The VERY least they could do as a delivery driver is supply a thermal bag so the food stays warm. Id tell them to pound sand too

I was at a worksite where they had this pizza and I knew I had to go there after trying a slice. The restaurant did not disappoint! I got a personal pizza of four slices and could only finish two of them as its so filling, but its completely worth it.

I came for the first time and I loved it , the manager was so friend and the place was so well designed. When they brought me the pizza, it looked so delicious, and when I felt the cheese melting through the other ingredients, I felt heaven!

Went in at 9 when the schedule says they close at 10, but they said they were sold out . Just a side note, I am not an uber driver. I was supposed to be a customer but like I said, came in at 9 pm on a Saturday and was told that they were sold out when the business closes at 10. And now they have some arrogant person assuming that someone with an ethnic name is an uber driver.

Went at 9:05pm to get a pizza and said they were sold out for the night. What a joke! Update: I am not an Uber Driver and Ive left many reviews to support small businesses. I drove 45 minutes to come grab a pizza and to be told 1 hour before closing your out of pizza and no alternatives were offered is just bad service.

Imagine my relief when I realized that I could get excellent Detroit pizza without traveling to the lawless wasteland they call the USA. Excellent drinks selection, pepperoni worth its weight in gold and a sauce that will implant memories of Italy that aren t even yours.

Instead of making instagram posts about how uber drivers are leaving you one star reviews how about taking the concerns of a potential customer and validating their experience and making it right. What would make you assume that a one star review was from an uber driver and not someone who just didn t have a good experience at your establishment? I would be upset too if I came an hour before closing and you were STILL OPEN and you had no pizza s left. So ridiculous. Again, Instead of making petty posts on instagram how about making it right with a potential customer who had a poor experience.

The pizza here is awesome. Its crispy edges and ingredients are top notch. The flavour and presentation are worth it. You are better off picking it up yourself and taking it home so it s still hot. It also reheats great for the next day.

Descendant is the best pizza in the east end, bar none. The small pizza doesn t occupy a lot of real estate but it s super thick with tons of flavour and really fills you up. I had Duane as my waiter, and he s so on top of his game, thoughtful and fun. Everyone is really professional here. Now if they could sort out the heavy door and that draft in the winter! But that doesn t take away from the place but it would really improve on it! Thanks guys.

The electric avenue pizzas is one of the best pizzas we ve ever had!!! We aren t local but first tried it in 2020. Anytime we are in the area we always swing by as we love Detroit style pizza and it s so hard to find in Ontario besides here and Mai Painon Hamilton.

Ive been lucky enough to have this delicious pizza at an event and shocked that delivery drivers think its ok to give 1 star reviews because they cannot invest a small amount in a delivery bag. Delivering food cold will give the delivery person a bad review and the restaurant a bad review for allowing the food to leave without delivery bag. Sorry you are dealing with this. I would give Uber customer service a call and report what is going on.

A different pizza in a cozy place. My favorite ones are truff guy and gat daddy. Depends on how much you eat, but normally 1 large is more than enough for 2 ppl. Food

Tried the Canadian pizza, it was unbelievably good. The best part of the pizza was it looked heavy, but felt light. You can literally feel the freshness of the dough, cheese, and the toppings. Also tried their Truff-guy pizza, it would be good for someone who s heavy on cheese, but it was good overall. The ambience was nice, and the customer service was remarkable. Also tried the local beers based on the server s recommendations, they were decent. A great experience overall, truly a gem of a place for detroit-style artisan pizza.

Omg Omg Omg. Yes, this pizza deserves 3 Omg in a row because it is that yummy. We had no name and truffle guy and wow, soooo good. I cannot recommend enough, we also ordered two dips, parm garlic and smoked paprika garlic and honestly perfect combination.

Plus Ultra A1A+. Best pizza in Toronto. Better than any famous joint in New York, Chicago, Detroit and I dare say Italy (if you like flat bread with bland tomato sauce and minimal cheese - you will not dig this). Parking: The door here. It is weird. Requires a lot of gusto to open it. Always catches me off guard, and I wonder how many limp twisted folks have walked away thinking the door was locked. It is bizarre they have never done anything about it. Wheelchair accessibility: If you are in a wheelchair forget about it, the door will keep you out.

I can t comment much on the atmosphere as I picked up to bring home but wow! After driving past numerous times, we finally placed an order. We got a large no name and were blown away! Better than the Detroit style pizza we had in Detroit. Staff were super friendly and pick up was easy. Will definitely be back for more!

I have to start by their customer service, the staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful. The pizza was fantastic, with a fluffy yet crispy crust! The place is quite small with limited seating, but even though we went on a Saturday night, we were seated immediately, and I didn t see any other customers waiting either. I ll definitely be back!

Delicious Detroit-style pizza (just learned that thats a thing), but sadly only one vegetarian option, which happens to be spicy and with cilantro. This place is great spot for your craving of thick doughs and diverse options. Daddy s favourite : 3.8/5 - it has flavour but something about the chicken on the pizza and the sauce combo doesn t complement. I don t think the kothu roti addition is doing anything to the pizza. The mango chutney is apparent and has a prominent flavour. No name: 3.5/5 - it s a classic. The ingredients are yummy but something s missing. The Italian sausage was a bit on the overcooked end The hot honey dip is not hot Overall the Detroit style dough is captured however it can be a bit chewy. 1 slice is very filling for me (for reference I m a 3 regular sliced pizza gal)

Best staff and the best ever Detroit style pizza. It was my first time trying it. It was so good eating at home after reheating, can imagine how good it would eating there. Would love to dine in once with my wife. Loved it.

Ordered the Truff-Guy very yummy!! (If you enjoy truffle aioli I def recommend ) also the atmosphere and our server were lovely ( ty for recommending the hot honey yes it was kind of messy but it was worth it! )

Its very similar to a classic Sicilian style with cheese at the bottom and sauce at the top. I am a classic Napoletan style, thin crust lover but have to say that this is one of the best thick crust Pizzas one can have. The crust is thick, staying true to the Detroit style, but light and the undercarriage is slightly burnt which is exactly what I like. Not to mention that the sauce was quite flavorful as well. An easy 5 stars for me!

During a recent visit to pick up my order, I witnessed a staff member at the counter a white woman with colored hair treating another delivery driver quite rudely. This driver, an Uber Eats partner, was struggling without a delivery bag, so I stepped in to help by offering my spare pizza bag. However, after completing my delivery, I found that your staff had reported me to Uber for not having a delivery bag, negatively impacting my rating. This is particularly concerning as I am a frequent customer of your restaurant and truly appreciate the food and service you provide. It s disheartening to see staff misuse their authority to mistreat others, especially those working hard to support their families. I don t know what triggered her reaction; perhaps my act of kindness made her feel undermined in some way. Regardless, such behavior not only affects individual drivers but can also tarnish the reputation of your restaurant. I encourage you to promote a culture of respect and support within your team, ensuring that all delivery personnel are treated with dignity. Thank you for taking the time to consider this matter.

Delicious pizza! Would go more often but it s far and the delivery fees are outrageous. Pickup was on time. But I can t see myself easily waiting long in winter when you can t wait outside. It s very small and you would be standing right over people who are eating.

I had really high expectations for the pizza based on all the hype on social media and Dave Portnoy s review. I was unfortunately very underwhelmed. The crust was very thick, chewy, and dry, comparable to a thick crust frozen pizza. The cheese and tomato sauce were also below average. The atmosphere and service were the only decent aspects of this joint.

this pizza will not fail you - IT IS DELICIOUS! we love the little pepperoni and the double sauce - yumm yumm!

We visited Descendant pizza and I have to say that this is one of the best pizza places we ve been to in the city. Dwayne, was extremely helpful explaining the pizza options to us. He is extremely friendly and we had a great conversation with him. Would I recommend this place ?? 100% yes ! We re definitely going to be back.

Lives up to the hype. Love me a crispy, cheesy, fresh out the oven Detroit style. The crust is awesome. The price is pricey, and some of the pizzas are a lil greasy but those are also my favourites. I recommend the No Name

I ve always enjoyed Descendants Pizza, but my recent delivery experience through their internal Ambassador platform was quite frustrating. My order was delayed for more than an hour, despite calling four times for an update. To make matters worse, the specific instructions to cut the pizza were ignored, and the pizza arrived cold. For a restaurant known for quality, this was a major letdown. I hope they can improve their delivery service, as the food itself deserves much better handling. Disappointed to say the least. So delicious in my first visit, which is the Truff Guy...but second visit isnt that great tasting. Its a bit of letdown. I think one Get Daddy , other one just check the photos with 2 pizza. So when I come back Ill stick to super delicious Truff.

Visited Descendant when they opened in 2015 and drop by whenever Im in Leslieville. Consistently wonderful and inventive pies, like their Jaffna (Kothu Roti complemented by mango chutney and calabrian chilis), that get their toothsome chewiness and crunch from the steel pans theyre cooked in and pair well with housemade dips like basil aioli.

This pizza has layers of flavour, something I never expected. I tried the truffle one, there was a hint of lemon that cut through the richness of the other toppings which I thoroughly enjoyed. The slices are deceivingly heavy. Yes its relatively pricey, but worth it. Treat yourself!

Deep dish pizzas here are fabulous. For both Truff-guy and Electric ave the crusts aren t boring, dull, nor tough. Solid ingredient content/ filling across the dough wont let diners feel left out. Note the Electric ave comes with a bit of spiciness. Not overpowering the taste of other ingredients which is perfect. We dipped the Truff-guy pizza into the hot sauce that came with the Electric ave pizza since we really enjoyed the kick. Limited seating so calling in to make reservation is strongly recommended. Vegetarians pizza option available. Curb side parking.

My husband and I had lunch here and ordered half the pizza with pepperoni and the other half with sausage and pepperoni. They mixed up the toppings and so when they brought us the pizza they told us about the mix up and the next thing out of their mouth was, we have a new come coming up! I was impressed by this as most places don t won t provide this kind of customer service! Their pizzas are also very unique and delicious! We would be back

You gotta eat here. Tiny little pizzeria in Leslieville, humble and welcoming. This pizza is superb. Six of us showed up and luckily got a table. We ordered the Pepperoni, the Gat Daddy, and the Truf-Guy. The crust is perfect, toppings are fresh, and generous. The Truf-Guy is a mushroom lovers dream, and the Gat-Daddy is a slightly spicy and flavourful slice! The space is conducive to laughs and sharing- a wonderful dining experience. Dare you to try to eat more than three pieces! Love this spot can t wait to go back!

Amazing Pizza! One of the Top pizzas I had in Toronto! We ordered canadian Pizza and electric avenue with Jerk chicken. One large is enough for three I guess. Small is 4 pies and large is 8. Parking in streets nearby is available for free for one hour. Inside there are some limited tables and usually busy so your best chance without reservation is takeout. 5 star food and service.
