A Memorable Dinner at Pizzeria Libretto - University Following a later afternoon at the TSO, we had such a fantastic dining experience at Libretto. From the food to the service, everything exceeded expectations in the best way possible. Starters: We began with the Meatballs a mix of beef, pork, and veal in a rich house sugo, topped with shaved pecorino and served with Neapolitan pizza points. While they were enjoyable, I ll admit they didn t quite hit the same note as they did when we first tried them back in 2019. Mains: The pizzas were the real stars of the evening: Funghi A white pizza loaded with cremini mushrooms, gorgonzola crema, garlic, thyme, rosemary, fior di latte mozzarella, and pecorino. The combination was rich, earthy, and absolutely perfect. Housemade Sausage Another white pizza featuring panna, fennel sausage, caramelized onions, fior di latte mozzarella, parmigiano-reggiano, chili oil, and fresh basil. It had just the right kick from the chili oil, and the sausage was packed with flavor. Both pizzas were spot-on and lived up to Libretto s reputation for incredible Neapolitan-style pies. Drinks & Dessert: We paired our meal with a Negroni on draft and a glass of red wine recommended by our server, Jenna, which complemented the meal perfectly. For dessert, we treated ourselves to two tiramisus, and they did not disappoint. Creamy, light, and so satisfying, they were the perfect way to end the evening. Service: Jenna made the entire experience unforgettable. From the moment we walked in, she showed what professional service looks like. Despite being busy prepping tables when we arrived, she immediately paused to greet us with a warm smile and get us seated. Throughout the evening, she struck the perfect balance of attentiveness never hovering or being overly fake. We never had to look for her when we needed something, whether it was a drink refill or a question about the menu. She took my allergies seriously, promised to double-check with the kitchen, and followed through seamlessly. Jenna s professionalism and genuine care truly stood out. She knew the menu inside and out, offered thoughtful recommendations (her wine suggestion was spot-on), and managed to keep an eye on all her tables with what seemed like a sixth sense. A simple glance for a drink refill was all it took, and she was there. Beyond Jenna, the entire team at Libretto was equally impressive. The manager and staff worked in perfect unison clearing plates, serving dishes, and making everything flow effortlessly. They were professional yet discreet, which added to the overall atmosphere of the evening. Final Thoughts: Libretto is more than just great food; it s a full experience. The pizzas and tiramisu are a must, but the service, at least for us, is what made it truly special. Finding great staff, who are overbearingly fake is challenging to find nowadays. That said, Jenna, in particular, along with the collaborative team, deserves a shoutout for her incredible attention to detail and genuine hospitality.

Their margarita Neapolitan pizza is HEAVEN!!! The tomato sauce is perfection. I did end up regretting my adventurous second choice of the pesto and olive pizza. Unfortunately, the spinach in the pesto made the dish taste like under seasoned palak paneer gravy on naan (as an Indian person :). However, I am sure their other tomato sauce based pizzas are excellent!

I love their authentic Neapolitan pizza!! I usually get the funghi but this time I also got the nduja -- they were both very delicious with a perfectly charred and blistered crust. Ive been to a few Pizzeria Libretto locations and the quality is consistently great. Reservations are accepted. We were walk-ins on a Tuesday night and there was no wait. Theres plenty of seating. Update: I came back a month later on a Thursday night and there was no wait to get a table for two. This time I got the duck confit Neapolitan pizza and the Hawaiian New York-style thin crust pizza. They were both very tasty. The Neapolitan pizza is a medium 12-inch pizza, while the New York-style pizza is an extra large 16-inch pizza.

The pizza is authentic and the taste is not monotonous across flavors. The staff is really helpful and they know the menu well. Food

Loved every minute!

Well, we are in Toronto today for dance competition and we re visiting Pizza Libretto. Food is absolutely amazing, we ordered Margarita pepperoni pizza and Hawaiian pizza (huge thanks to the kitchen), service is not good. I realized that service in restaurants is getting worse and worse for last couple of years ;( Looks like nobody heard about 5 mins rules, but expectations for tips are high. Too sad, we are not feeling ourself as a valuable customers anymore ;(

The food was excellent! Short walk from the Hilton downtown and the service was excellent. Will be stopping by here again on my next Toronto visit! Highly recommend there lemon ricotta pizza and Caesar salad! Vegetarian options: Excellent tasting vegetarian options for there pizzas. Dietary restrictions: They did ask if we had any food allergies or restrictions. Wheelchair accessibility: They have a ramp from the street level to the door.

Pizzeria Libretto never disappoints! We ordered the calamari, Housemade Sausage Neapolitan pizza and the Lemon Ricotta Neapolitan - all of which were fantastic. Half priced bottles of wines made the drink selection a no-brainer - we got a chilled red which was perfect for an Indian summer night in October where we enjoyed the patio. Our server was super friendly - chatting and joking with us (we were in costume, headed to the Rocky Horror Show). High recommend!

First pizzeria

Service was great, attentive and well timed. Staff was always smiling whenever we were approached. And service was prompt when we requested items. Food, was salty compare to what I used to remember. Otherwise it tastes delicious.

Both these vegetarian pizzas were amazing! The gelato was a very strong coffee flavor- some may enjoy that and some may not. The pizza and gelato quantity was ample. The tiramisu was also good but Ive had better. I would definitely bring friends here for the pizza.

This is honestly such an underrated place - they serve really yummy food, with an amazing service, at a really great rate. I cannot recommend it more!

It gets very busy here in the evening so best bet is to make a reservation. We had to wait about 10 minutes which was fine. Food was delicious and the service was good!

I had an amazing experience at Libretto! That was my third time here and it is an amazing restaurant. The staff is super friendly and attentive, the atmosphere is perfect, and the food is delicious. Perfect for family gatherings, dates, or just eating by yourself. Can t wait to be back!

I ordered the duck confit pizza and the mushroom pizza. Both were spectacular. I highly recommend trying these items. I also ordered a negroni and enjoyed it as well. I recommend taking advantage of their drink menu. Their bartender did a lovely job. There was good attention paid to certain aspects of the table, such as chilli oil accompanying the warm focaccia and linen napkins that elevated the experience. Although this restaurant s identity is authenticity the decor and atmosphere leaned more toward corporate dining, which did diminish the effect. Specifically, the seats appeared cheap, the a/c was frigid and the lighting was a little blaring. It was more commercial than I was expecting to say the least, but the food was very good.

Pizza was original and delicious. There is a kids menu for the kids. Good price quality.

Did not enjoy the spinach pesto pasta at all. The sauce was too peppery and salty and well I could not taste the basil at all. The food did not meet my expectations.

Good pizza, nothing to envy of certain pizzerias in Italy. We took two daisies and they were good. Using the expression its good to be abroad would belittle it because its really good. Since its the last evening here in Toronto I wont be able to return again, but if I had discovered this pizzeria earlier I would definitely have returned. In terms of prices we are in line with Toronto prices.

I ve tried the vegan pizza twice - both delivery. The crust was doughy and slightly undercooked. The ingredients do not complement one another - the green goddess sauce was too thick and overpowering and the cheese did not melt properly.

Busy = good. Closest neopolitan pizza in the GTA to the pizza weve had in Naples at the acclaimed birthplace of the holy pie - Pizzeria la antica de Michele. Prix Fixe and lunch special menus offers great value. Service is consistently friendly, diverse, and attentive. Make reservations otherwise be prepared to wait. The secrets out. A minor gripe - their hot oil is not hot enough (sprinkle in some chili flakes to add heat). Modern digs with nice red accents. Nice patio too.

This used to be my favourite pizza place in the city. Ive been twice in the past month. The food quality has declined and the service is dismal. Pizza was very soggy. SIP Wine Bar in Midtown produces a much better product if youre a fan of the Neapolitan-style Nduja pizza.

This review is not for the restaurant itself, its for their terrible grocery store sold pizza which is a 3.2/10 at best. Dont ruin your reputation for capitalism. Stop your grocery store venture immediately because more reviews like this are guaranteed to roll in. Downright nasty and regret getting it.

Delicious pizzas, I really enjoyed the New York style one.

Pizza was lukewarm with cheap mozzarella, definitely average wood oven pizza, far away from the real napoletana. Expectations were higher based on photo and reviews.

Lots of choice on the menu and portions are generous. Food was delicious but service could be better. The staff were attentive and speedy but a dip was forgotten and my drink order was wrong - not a huge problem but surprising considering it was pretty quiet. Overall Id be happy to go back.

We went there on Friday night and got table for 6 without any reservations. We ordered only vegetarian items: 1. Pomodoro Gnocchi: 4/5 => Good 2. Spinach Basil Pesto Gnocchi: 5/5 => Really good 3. Margherita Pizza: 3/5 => Not too bad 4. Funghi Pizza: 4/5 => Their best vegetarian pizza IMO 5. Lemon Cacio e Pepe Pizza: 1/5 => Awful. Too hard as well. 6. Roasted garlic parmigiano reggiano dips: 4/5 => Dips were good. The complimentary chili oil was even better. 7. Tiramisu: 3/5 => Below Average The ambience is simply great and service is so good. The staff is nice and friendly. But the food is not up to the mark. Except for Spinach basil pesto gnocchi and funghi pizza, I don t like any dish much. Funghi Pizza with garlic dip and chili oil tasted delicious. Overall, I won t be coming back.

Me and my girlfriend came to Toronto for a concert and happened to stop by this place and were very glad we did , the food and service was amazing. The cheese pizza was genuinely the best pizza I ve ever had so far , my girl got the gluten free margarita pizza and it was the hands down the best Gf crust we ve had !!!

I decided to give this place a second chance after my first visit was a total disaster. The first time around, the food was tasteless (calamari, burrata, and margherita pizza) and the service was downright awful. Last night, I thought maybe things would be different, but while the food was slightly better (the prosciutto and arugula pizza and Aperol spritz were decent), the service was even worse, if thats possible. We had multiple different servers throughout the meal, and not a single one seemed to care about actually serving. They avoided eye contact, didnt check on us, and were just plain reluctant to help without being flagged down. We asked for dipping sauce when we ordered our meal, again once we got the food, and it didn t show up until after we d finished eating. And that was only after we flagged down a waitress who didn t seem thrilled to help us. When the sauce finally came, the server dropped it off with a half-hearted sorry, the kitchen s slow and still had the nerve to charge us for it. We also asked for napkins twice and got nothing until the very end, when we were paying, sitting there with pizza still all over our faces. No one bothered to do any quality checks, and it was clear the servers didn t care at all. The service was painfully slow, and then they suggest an 18% tip at the end LOL!! If you want good service and a decent dining experience, avoid this place like the plague. The food might be okay, but unless you don t mind being ignored and treated like an inconvenience, stick to takeout.

Pizza in Toronto is very similar to Italian pizza, I would say the best I have eaten abroad. Very nice environment with spectacular views of the city.

The tomato sauce over the pizza was super bland..!! Just no flavor That should come to a full stop here itself..!! I had specifically mentioned to our 1st server that i need a lil more coverage of the sauce as sometimes in few restaurants it s too less! But she started arguing for 10-15 mins with me saying Oh you should see our social media pictures Oh! Italians come to our place We cannot change the standards of our pizza Lolol i got fed up of her comments & just needed to eat !!!! She talked a lot more & did NOT listen at all Eventually, i got a pizza with only 1/3rd coverage tomato sauce w toppings!!! Gosh is it too difficult to understand a customer s request ?? Also, paying a 22 $ pizza (without tax) with so little quantity of sauce does not even make sense !! Moreover the pizza base was dry enough that i could have it even w just olive oil ..!! A big minus for the server who was arrogant & doesn t want to listen to what the customer wants !! Toronto has a LOT of options & this one is a HARD NO !!!!! A good effort on the house made vegan cheese though !! & to the 1st server - please smile a little, helps everyone !!!

Delightful pizza place. The staff is friendly and courteous and the food delicious! We tried their NY cheese and it was amazing! Looking forward to coming back and trying more in the future.

Got the lemon cacio e pepe NY style zza and it was chewy and so delicious! Beautifully cooked, great undercarriage. Paired with the chilli oil and it was BOMB. Will definitely be back to try the other zzas Also got the calamari app and it was just as good! The stafff was also great and patient with our big group of 12. We appreciate the hospitality!

One of the best vegan pizza in Toronto. Best place if you want a vibe that you see on movies. They have a couple of franchises in downtown. I love the one in university Ave. You also have drinks alcoholic and non alcoholic. Do try Impossibly vegan pizza.

I have never had anything Like the lemon ricotta pizza before. It was sooo delicious!!! Not much topping or sustenance (very thin like cheese on flat bread), but the taste/flavour is delicious. Went right at lunch hour rush but the pizzas came out FAST. Wish the chili oil on the table was spicier.

The pizzas here are truly amazing, bursting with flavor and featuring unique varieties that you wont find anywhere else. Pairing them with the Arugula and Pear salad as a side is simply marvelous. Let s also not forget the friendly attentive service. I rate this place A+

Ok. This was a BAD experience from the moment I arrived to the minute I left 1. The place was 10000% empty and I was told I had to hurry because someone else booked my table. When I left 3 other people had come 2. The pizza was awful AF. Mine was more of a heavy, wet, soggy pancake and I got the NY slice. 3. My guest had the other pizza that was ok. It was crisper than mine and it wasnt suppose to be. That is how undercooked mine was. 4. Not once did someone come by and ask how the meal was. Not once 5. A pleasant touch was when they seated us next to the only other people in the whole place. Classy. Just another typical Toronto sub-classy day at a restaurant. The lack of effort shows, the lack of interest Im food is more than noticeable, and the hurried nature of the visit is typical. Will not return

Went to the establishment for the first time and also really pleased to discover that they serve beef salami as a great alternative to pepperoni (since I don t eat pork). Although my meal was delicious overall, I ended up having an issue and the manager and her team kindly and promptly compensated me for it and when I went to leave a tip (which I believe was deserved), my waitress refused to accept it! This example spoke volumes of stellar and exemplary customer service and experience and as a customer looking to spend his hard earned money, I would absolutely love to see more establishments in Canada remain committed to their service delivery. Not safe for Celiac! Says right on their menu, there WILL be cross contamination! They use the same sauce ladle & same toppings theyve been using for regular pizza all day. They dont make much effort to avoid cross contamination, yet they advertise gluten-free. Food

I went here after a show for an early dinner. The service was great. I felt bad because we asked to sit on the patio, but as they prepared the table, the weather took a bit of a turn, and they advised us to stay in. After moving us in and getting our drink orders out, one server overheard someone in the group commenting on her drink being flat. The server came over and checked in on this persons drink. They promptly brought out a new drink, which the person was very happy with. I got the gnocchi with spinach/basil pesto. It was very delicious! I spent about $47 for the pasta, a glass of red wine, and a Perrier - including tip. But between the service and the food, it was well worth it. I would go back for sure. Vegetarian options: My dish was vegetarian and very tasty. They also had vegetarian pizza options.

Came here for dinner with some friends and everything was delicious! We ordered the Nduja sausage, lemon ricotta, and hot genoa salami pizzas. The pizza was great - the ingredients tasted fresh and the crust was crispy on the outside with a nice chew. The tiramisu was also really good! The environment is really nice - high ceilings and lively but not too busy. The service was awesome - really friendly and attentive! I went to have lunch at Libreto pizzeria because I read very good reviews about their gluten-free pizza. Im celiac, and finding tasty options for our diet is very difficult. I certify that its one of the best pizzas Ive ever had. Incredible crust, perfect sauce, and cheese. Thank you very much for offering such a dedicated and excellent option for celiacs. Personally, Im a symptomatic celiac, meaning I immediately notice if the dish has a high degree of cross-contamination. I didnt feel any discomfort. Youve done a great job. The waitress asked me if it was a preference or an allergy, so they must have been careful with the preparation of the dish. I also had a capuccino and was amazing.Thank you very much!

We went there for dinner and were not disappointed. We tried Aranchini which was okay but tasted better with the chilly oil. We tried the pizza with marinara and burrata cheese and the server was kind enough to get this for us as it is not a part of their menu. Visiting Toronto for a BlueJays baseball weekend and this restaurant was recommended by someone at the baseball stadium. Super good Hawaiian pizza and very good beef bruchetta. I recommend it. Kid-friendliness: Yes Wheelchair accessibility: Same level as the street, so quite easy to access.

I stopped into this pizzeria after a long day in the city. Though it was quite busy, we snagged seats at the bar. I had the funghi pizza, and it was incredible. This place is a gem in the city a must-visit for anyone craving an amazing pizza pie. The bustling atmosphere and delectable flavors make it a standout spot for pizza lovers.

We ve been to this location many times over the years. Food is always amazing, it s one of the few spots we will drive the family into the city just to visit. Went yesterday to celebrate a belated Mothers Day with the kids, and while the service was not as good as it normally is, they re usually so consistently good that I still gave them 5 stars for service. Might have been a shift change or something cuz our server changed a few times and we started to feel a little forgotten, having to grab someone on the way by to ask for something. Still, overall one of our favourite spots, we will be back, and the kids love it. This is the best food I ve had as a kid. - my 3 year old. Kid-friendliness: This location is best if you re bringing kids. It s the largest we ve been to and has multiple deep booths and large tables.

First time in Toronto, here on my honeymoon. Stopped in famished after a day of walking around Toronto. I had the pepperoni and the wife had the Lemon Cacio e Pepe. Our server was very friendly and introduced us to Kyle the T-Rex. Refills were quick, we were checked on multiple times without the staff really interrupting our dinner. Five stars doesn t do it justice. 10/10.

Everything I tried at here from salad to dessert was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was warm and inviting and the service was excellent. I will definitely be going back soon.

New favourite vegan pizza in the city!!! The vegan Fior di Latte cheese is amazing and I believe you can change the cheese on any of their pizzas to the vegan cheese they offer but I ordered the actual vegan pizza option on the menu(note it s a white pizza and no tomato sauce on it) As a vegan I m not a fan of any processed vegan meat so I asked they remove the impossible meat. They graciously added extra mushrooms. The impossible vegan is incredibly hearty and the green goddess sauce with pickled onions adds sparks of flavour. Their crust is also really good! Crispy and soft where it needs to be. Ordered take out from the University location, had it dining in at one other location and it s consistently great!

I really liked their mushroom pizza. The dough is nice and chewy with olive oil on-top and the mushroom aroma coming out. Their meatballs were pretty good, if you ordered a machine with no protein this could be a great dish to share. I would recommend making a reservation for Friday and the weekend because they are quite busy.

Everything was great apart from the one individual. Forced to sit in the smallest seats in an empty restaurant. We then proceeded to order pizza s that to our surprise wouldn t fit. Refused to move us even then. Place was empty the whole time. Just unnecessary and was still quiet upon leaving. I usually love this spot!

Pizza cooked over a wood fire with beer and ice cream really the pizza could have been better in terms of cheese and tomatoes if the ingredients had more flavor but overall the prosciutto was very good. Impeccable service. One person on their team speaks 3 soon 4 languages. Cool atmosphere for a weeknight. On my next visit to Toronto I will definitely come back.

They serve delicious pizza and gnocchi. Service was good.

The pizza dough was somehow burnt on the bottom but runny on the top. The knife wouldnt cut through it and the pizza kept slipping off my plate . But the taste was good and ingredients were very fresh. We went relatively early(7pm) the place was closing by 9pm on a Saturday night

The food is always delicious and reasonably priced. The Diavola pizza is my favourite. I order it every time. I came with a group of friends for dinner and everyone was satisfied with their meals. The service is lacking though, which is a shame.

Great place for pizza lovers. Ordered warm olives , gnocchi fritters and mushroom pizza with additional homemade sausage. Service was great, food tasted good. Ambiance was quiet but comfortable. P.S. They used to serve their own preferred cola brand called Blue sky natural cola. I loved it. It tasted authentic. But Coca Cola is still good too.

Absolutely incredible food and stellar service!! They were able to rush my order so I could make it to my show. The staff were incredibly kind, patient and attentive. I cannot rave about them enough. I had the gorgonzola gnocchi and it was simply divine. I had cleaned my plate in 10 minutes, that s how good it was. If you need some delicious food while you re downtown, you should definitely go here!

Great pizza, great gnocchi, great ambiance and decent service! The chili oil was very flavorful. The portion of the gnocchi is quite less and the taste is so creamy and flavorful that it leaves you wanting for more. We had a great time here and it exceeded our expectations. Usually Za is our go to for pizza in downtown but now we added Libretto to our list. Cant wait to go back and try more pizzas and the appetizer gnocchi. Vegetarian options: Funghi pizza, gnocchi

Sign said wait to be seated. 6 empty tables, staff proceed to walk by us 8 times, ignored us for 10 min. Then finally came and said we will be seated shortly. Then came back and stood talking to each for another 5 minutes ignoring us. Finally walked out. Wouldn t go back here for this treatment if you paid me.

Pizza and meatballs are phenomenal, olive oil concoction is great.

Thin crust pizza is tasty. They tell you that the centre of the pizza is cooked that way on purpose, but Id rather they cooked it a bit longer so its less wet. Wine by the bottle is sort of reasonably priced; wine by the glass is ridiculous. Good service and near enough for pre-theatre or pre-game dinner.

Great place for lunch! Really enjoyed the kale and pear salad, the focaccia was so fresh and the diavola pizza had a great homemade hot sauce.

Fun work lunch with wonderful food. Going early ensured we got a table so we could enjoy our meal as the place filled up. Good vegetarian choices.

The meatballs were very good. Didn t get spaghetti with it though. Also no utensils to eat them with. Also no salad to order as a side at least if a had a small Caesar salad it would have made up for no pasta.

Pizza was delicious- highly recommend! Was the most similar pizza I have had to actual pizza in Naples, Italy! Great service, great atmosphere.

Still a good experience overall, but their standards have slipped recently. The pizzas do not seem to be made with the same care as before, and the same can be said of the appetizers. The servers are generally friendly but can be intrusive at times and dont seem to know the finer points of good service. The meatball appetizer came with bread that was very hard and stale-tasting, even though the meatballs themselves are good. Libretto was exciting when it first opened, as this style of pizza was somewhat new to Toronto, but now it feels a bit more corporate and generic. Still a good option if youre in the mood for Napoli-style pizza in the downtown core. The space itself is very nice with high ceilings and a view of University Ave.

5 stars for everything! I found this restaurant on a blog to find vegan restaurants in Toronto for my short stay. I had read that he made homemade mozarella, which is rare to find vegan cheese in a pizzeria. We had the fried gnocchi and squid as a starter and the vegetarian pizza. WOW, this was by far one of the best meals Ive had in a restaurant in a long time. The herb cream with the gnocchi was delicious. And what about the two sauces with the squid which blended wonderfully. Ultimately, the pizza is worth the detour. A thin, crispy and soft crust cooked in a wood oven, fresh ingredients and the addition of green godness and fine herbs! Very very impressed with the vegan mozzarella which had a perfect texture. I would have liked to buy some, but that was not possible. Great service too. The atmosphere was perfect too. The prices are reasonable and comparable to what you can find in other restaurants. I recommend this restaurant 2000%. The only problem is, unfortunately, its too far from home to come back often (6 hours drive).
