At Slowhand we have one obsession: making light, airy, and delicious sourdough pan pizza. Combining our favourite techniques from Italy and Detroit with sourdough culture from the San Francisco gold rush, we create a pizza like you’ve never had before. From our long fermented dough process, to sourcing the best possible ingredients, you’ll find that nothing is rushed here. Find us in the heart of Leslieville.
Follow @bredgyeats for more food pics! The Detroit-style pizza is personally my favourite, thanks to its addicting caramelized edges. Best of all, every piece is an edge piece, with a light and fluffy interior to contrast each bite. The combination of cheese, pepperoni, ricotta, honey and pickled jalapenos make for a well-balanced bite that makes you go back for more. Service was nice.
Really good quality pizza with excellent service. The crust is amazing, completely perfect and I cannot suggest more that you need to get the garlic dip. It is so so good. All the pizzas we had were really good - had Three Little Pigs, Fungus Among Us and Peter Piper. Couldn’t recommend it more! One pizza is more than enough for most people. I had 3 and was very full. Parking wise there is some parking spots at a 45 minute time limit, not a huge lot.
I recently visited Slowhand Pizza and tried two pizzas: Double Trouble and Peter Piper. The Double Trouble was a solid Detroit-style pizza with good flavor, though it didn’t quite have that ‘wow’ factor for me. However, my friends absolutely loved the Peter Piper, saying it was flavorful and unique. One must-try addition is their garlic cream dip—it really takes the experience to the next level! The atmosphere was nice, and the staff were friendly, making it a pleasant dining experience overall. I’d recommend Slowhand Pizza for a casual night out or if you’re craving Detroit-style pizza with a twist.
Delicious pies, literally not a single bad thing to say. Crisp and light, the sauce is perfect and not complicated. The preset pies were on point. Hot honey was nice but not overpowering. Garlic sauce was a nice touch but honestly it wasn't even needed at all. We will definitely be back. 🍕 🍕 🍕 🍕 🍕
The BEST Detroit style pizza in Toronto! The sourdough truly makes this a celebration of bread while the the toppings were so flavourful but not heavy. Highly recommend the three little pigs
AMAZING SOURDOUGH PIZZAS! Whether you are vegetarian or a meat lover, this is the place to be especially if you're an avid fan of pizza! The store it self gives you a kind of cozy feeling of sitting in bed, eating pizza and watching movie on a rainy day. The pizzas may look small but one can fill your entire stomach to the brim! My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our first time here and the flavours and unique pairings of ingredients, are the reasons why we will definitely be back and more than once!
Delicious pizza! Sourdough crust so it’s a bit thick but it’s so flavourful and delicious. Had the Peter pie and three pigs. I expected to like the three pigs more but the Peter pie was amazing. By the end though your jaw is tired from chewing but still delicious
I made a three hour trip just to have this sourdough Detroit-style pizza and I would do it everyday if I can. People in the vicinity have no idea how rare this is and how lucky they are to have access to this gem on a daily basis. I wolfed down the entire pizza and in addition to enjoying the complexities in flavor of every single bite brought forth by the use of high maintenance sourdough, after I was done I didn't feel dead full and could have easiky gone for seconds. I also felt great for the remainder of the day and it didn't wear me down. But really, it's all about the taste here. I only go to sourdough pizzerias and it's so hard to find one. But for Detroit style it's downright impossible to find one. Thank you for making this decision and you deserve all the success in the world. Please always keep it sourdough. Also: Thank you for having all-beef pepperoni as an option!
Great pizza and the staff were great.
The pizza was insanely delicious!
1 word: Spectacular. One of the best deep dish pizza spots in Toronto. The Beef pepperoni option is a game changer. Loved the whipped ricotta as well.
Best of best pizza till now.. Pizza sauce is so delicious.. Cant express this things.... Crunchy and soft pizza..
Not bad.
Best pizza in the city way to go guys amazing staff so welcoming and genuinely nice folks I recommend everyone check this place out better than any Detroit style pizza in the city hands down
Overall solid pizza and definitely worth trying again.
One of the best pizzas in the GTA. I loved the double trouble pizza.
Amazing pizza, you can eat a lot and still feel light.
My go-to is always the fungus amongus, but I also tried pineapple express. All of their pizzas are great choices. But dont forget that c.r.e.a.m dip to go with your pizza because it is the best sauce. Their customer service is always stellar. I will always come back for their amazing pizzas.
The staff are wonderful, the environment is great and honestly, this is one of the best pizzas we have in Toronto. I think it beats places like Badiali, Descendants and Mac. If youre looking for excellent pizza at a decent price, I HIGHLY recommend this place.
5 stars for Atmosphere but you didnt eat in!? This is true but as soon as I walked in I could tell that all behind the counter cared about what was going on. Each w/ a very clear job but still enjoying their task. Efficiency as a human, kitchen dance whirled before my eyes. Family business with a delightfully, delicious, Detroit-style pizza pie. Little Caesars who??? Vegetarian options: We subbed in mushrooms for pepperoni, no fee, so classy!!
We ordered the Fungus Amongus and Three Little Pigs, both were delicious. I like how each slice had a corner. Crunchy on the outside and pillowy-soft and loaded with toppings in the middle. It actually felt like eating a grilled open sandwich. The pizza tasted great the next day too. They have drinks from the past like Pop Shoppe root beer and Tahiti Treat, definitely worth a try.
Staff is amazing and pizza is perfect
My favorite deep dish pizza. Top 3 or 5 pizza in the city for me. With the sardough its alot lighter and easier on the gut. Hope they open another location closer to my home. Food : 5/5
Ordered a pizza at 5:53pm, 1h15m go by and no updates. Call the place and they said no drivers were picking up the pizza. Call again after 1h45min and still no driver. I ask for a refund and they say they can only give half. I ask to cancel the order and the person rudely hangs up the phone. Wasted 2 hours for nothing. First and last time trying this place.
Beautifully crafted, amazingly flavourful pizzas. It was a delight to watch the kitchen.
Delicious sourdough pizza. The pizza is all handmade to order so it does take 15 to 20 mins for your order. They don t skimp out on the toppings. Parking: Small parking lot shared with the store next door.
Had the three little pigs, and it was amazing. Its deep dish style, and they can cut it in 4 or 8 slices. Its probably like an inch or more thick but airy. It was more than enough to fill one person.
Ive had Slowhand before, but my delivery last night was absolutely insane. MUST TRY PIZZA!!! Super crispy, super soft! Feature flavours always have creative and balanced flavours. The garlic dip is the best Ive had, seriously. Also, they offer in house delivery which I highly recommend over ordering through Uber. Food
Super great pizza - very crunchy and tasty. The toppings were also very high quality. Ordered online and biked over to pick up to eat at home. The one minor thing was that I wish there was more bike parking so its easier for me to grab and go on my bike. Parking: No places to park your bike nearby :(
Not worth it, too overpriced! This place is cashless I should give them not even 1 star for being cashless. The pizza is way too small, better off making my own pizza or getting pizza from somewhere else . They are stuck up and snobby poor customer service
Very delicious deepdish pizza reminding me of Chicago.
One of the top pizza places in Toronto. Crispy crust and the dough is amazing. Addicted to the Mushaboom
Soooo different. Jalapeños with pineapple---yahoooo!!! Yummy in my tummy! Food
Absolutely amazing pizza and the service was fantastic. One of our pizzas came in slightly overcooked(still edible and delicious) but they made a new pizza for us without asking and ended up giving us both the pizza. Will definitely be back and I also suggest making the desi girl pizza a permanent addition
Pizza is decent, but honestly nothing special.
45 minutes late and cold and driver not reading delivery instructions, Ambassador not impressed
Best Chicago/Detroit style pizza in Downtown. The dove is amazing, soft but crunching at the same time, cheese and ingredients are hight top quality. Reasonable prices and the service is one of the things I liked the more !!! The owners are there giving you love through the food they make !!! Vegetarian options: They have some veg options and are happy to adapt their pizzas to your diet
Very unique styles and toppings on pizza. I got the dil and cheesy one. I can easily say the dil one was hands down one of the best pizzas i have had in a long time. I never knew pickles and dil sauce would go so well with a pizza. It was nice and warm, it was soft but also the right amount of crunchy. Definitely will make sure i get to try their other flavors they offer. Workers were also nice, and were happy to tell us recommendations and what is popular. Parking: free parking lot is stretch. a strip parking lot with like 10 spots
Their pizzas were undeniably amazing! Ive been here twice, and while the first visit was great, we were disappointed by the arrogant owner and staff. However, we didnt let it bother us too much because the pizzas were so good, and we didn t want to ruin our day. On our second visit, we brought friends along, as we couldnt stop recommending the place to them. Unfortunately, the rude attitude of the staff and the poor customer service were once again evident. By then, the food no longer tasted as great to me.
Great pizza in this not easy to get to location (coming from Halton) Had 3 pizzas to eat while there and take home. My first time with Detroit style pizza and would definitely have it again, once my waistline recovers lol.
Delicious pizza and great customer service. Highly recommend!
Terrific pizza!!
Absolutely delicious pizza! From the sourdough to the crunchy cheese sides. Perfect on a cold Friday night.
Finally got to try Slowhand pizza after hearing and seeing all the hype. We ordered the Peter Piper, Pineapple Express and Fungus Amongus along with their hot honey and garlic cream dip. Absolutely loved the Peter Piper and Pineapple Express with the two sauces, I was a little disappointed with the Fungus Amongus as I kept hearing how great it was. However, the crusts of these pizzas were crazy good, if you like a thick crust pizza you definitely need to check this place out, my friend said this was the best they ve had! Definitely recommend going with a few friends so that you can try a different ones, they only do whole pizzas that come with 4 slices. The vibe at this place is also amazing especially during the summer time!
Ordered delivery - absolutely the worst pizza Ive ever had. It was dry, hard and definitely not worth $62 for 2 small pizzas. Ridiculous price; horrible quality.
A slice of pizza is hard to forget. Ive been to Slow-hand a few times to journey through their menu. I am a guy of culture. Spent years on a scholarship running hundreds of miles a year with different groups of guys. Th pizza here has been worked to an effortless taste. Watching these guys work reminds of the hard work to bring forth something special. Stand in line and enjoy that cool atmosphere. Slowhand Sourdough pizza is worth the finish line.
REALLY GOOD PIZZA
my partner and i enjoyed the pizza at this place. we will definitely be returning.
Ive been wanting to try Slowhand pizza for months but I live in the west end. Decided todays the day and went right as they opened with friends. Got the double trouble and three little pigs pizzas. I love that crispy cruchy edge where the cheese met the baking try and just became a cracker. The Pepperoni cups used is also good. They hold their shape, but get nice and crispy and curled. I would get both pizzas again if I ever am in the area. 9/10 would recommend. Parking: Small 5 space parking lot right infront of the store.
Amazing Pizza! Staff was very helpful and friendly. Highly Recommend!
Excellent pan pizza (would suggest asking for lightly toasted if charred is not preferred). Helpful staff and nice indoor and outdoor seating. Definitely recommended. Usual wait time ~15m. Limited Parking is available too.
I have read the reviews and I thought I would give it a try, but honestly it wasnt a big deal at all and also its a bit overpriced I believe.
Slowhand Sourdough serves some of the best Detroit-style pizza in the city! The sourdough crust gives it a lighter, airier feel compared to other Detroit-style pizzas, making it a unique and satisfying experience. The toppings are fresh and bursting with flavor. Highly recommended for pizza lovers!
Some of the best pizza in Toronto. Absolutely amazed. Will be back for sure. Vegetarian options: Several veggie pizzas. Didnt see any vegan options. Food : 5/5 |
I had never tried sourdough pizza before, but I was absolutely blown away by the pizzas here. Sourdough Pizza has quickly become one of my favorite pizza joints in the city. Their pizzas are thick, perfectly cooked with a delightful crunch, and the pepperoni cups are just right. The crust is insane crispy and flavorful. My favorite is the Peter Piper, but honestly, everything on the menu is delicious. The customer service is fabulous, but what really stands out is that they are dog-friendly! The owners are dog lovers, and their patio has to be one of the best spots to bring your dog. I ve never visited without my dogs they re always so kind, bringing out water, treats, and my dogs love sneaking bites of leftovers. If you re looking for great pizza and a welcoming spot for your furry friends, I would highly recommend Sourdough Pizza.
Got their thanksgiving special pizza. I mean it definitely tastes like thanksgiving and it tastes fine, but is it really worth $30? This was a pre-order pickup order with no tips. If you want your order delivered, thats an extra $4.99 then you would need to tip your driver They also almost forgot to give me a garlic dipping sauce that I pre-ordered ($3 for a tiny dip mind you); I only got it because I walked back into the store after realizing the dip wasnt included in the pizza box. I understand theres a pressure on small businesses from inflation and whatnot but this gourmet pizza racketeering across the city is getting way out of hand. Its still not as bad as how much Maker Pizza charges for their products but still, this is a general trend that needs to stop. Not sure what the businesses are thinking - theres a clear supply demand graph that tells you once the prices are high enough, people will simply stop buying. If you cant lower the prices, then maybe the business itself has no longer become sustainable. I actually tried Slowhand first when they were doing Riverdale neighborhood popups before the store footprint & selling the pizzas at $12 each - the good old days!
My friend and I stumbled on the gem! The pizzas were perfect! Will definitely be coming back
Pizza is a 10/10, better than most places in New York. I thought Badiali s a was the only great pizza place in Toronto but this is right on par - different style though. The owner Brent was also super friendly. Went for one pizza and bought another one before we left
Very good pizza and it lived up to the expectations, there is not a lot of place to sit but overall top notch quality
Good tasty sourdough deep pan detroit style pizza. The person at the counter was very helpful and friendly at helping pick the right pizza for us. Will visit again.
the pizzas were so good! they had a slightly chewier texture but the ends were so crispy! the meats were meaty and juicy and the peppers added spice and depth to the flavour as well. good service and washrooms too Food
Excellent pizza! Love the crust, Detroit style so it s a bit thicker, but flavourful, fluffy, and that crunch! Love the flavours, the Peter piper with the hot honey is amazing. I personally love the fungus one a lot, creamy sauce. Definitely recommend!!
Its good pizza. You wont regret it. I just ordered online in advance to pick up at a certain time. Pizza came out at that time with about 15+ others. And although I was standing right at the counter before my time. I had to wait to get mine last so it sat there for just under 15 mins cooling off this really left a bad taste in my mouth. Then drove home another 15 mins. By this time I got in i Had to throw it in the microwave to reheat it. I Cant tell you how much I dont want to have to do that when I order out and I am there promptly to pick it up. Mind you it was really busy.
The detroit style was insanely good. The dough was super soft and airy, and the sides were beyond crispy with the cheese.
Best thick crust pizza EVER!!!
Yet to try the food as I arrived late with my son, coming from whitby. The atmosphere was nice, the aroma was amazing, really sucked to not get a pizza , but these guys are slammed and they did offer me a free pizza, but I had to decline as it wasnt there fault they ran out of dough, and I had no idea how busy they would be... Sourdough itself is a process to make, so I totally understand and will call ahead on my next attempt to secure a couple pies... Cheers and best wishes, I wish I had a business like thiers
This pizza literally took me on a trip oh my! Got the Peter Piper and it was absolutely perfect. The dough was crispy out the outside, soft with a nice bite in the inside. A perfect vehicle to carry the jalapeños, hot honey, and pepperoni. Ricotta sealed the deal and meshed everything together. Absolute flavour symphony! Usually these types of pizzas can be overly filling and rich but I can easily slam 1 whole pizza for myself. Price was very reasonable given the taste, and quality. Oh and don t forget that garlic sauce!
Best deep dish Ive EVER had. Not even lying.
The BEST Detroit style pizza Ive ever had. So fresh and the crispy edges had an amazing crunch. Plus, topped off with fresh basil & Parm *chefs kiss* Great service too! Highly recommend
I tried to call them three times because it was almost closing time and I wanted to make sure I wasn t showing up for nothing, but nobody answered the phone. I still made it there five minutes before closing time and one of their staff, after talking to the manager told me they couldn t make me a pizza. I m aware that closing time it s a critical moment for a business, but that s also when you see if the customer service is as good as the products they offer, and unfortunately this is not the case at slowhand pizza.
Insanely good pizza
Food is truly delicious. Perfect spot for casual or first date or for when you have the urge for a delicious pizza.
We tried the three little pigs and we love it. You have to get the garlic dip it was soooo good. Cute little patio to sit and enjoy your pizza!
Best somali food in the city.
the absolute best pizza in the city, hands down. *chefs kiss*
Great pizza
The patio on a summer s night is simply sublime. Enjoying a slice, in the style of Detroit; rivalled only by Descendants - or dare I say better?
Absolutely delish! Very fresh and flavourful.
The team behind the counter were great - hilarious chats and helped navigate the menu pretty well. Pizza was unreal, right up there with the best in the city.
Hands down one of the best pizza spots in the GTA. Pizzas are made fresh and the dough is light and airy. It does not taste as heavy as other deep dish pizzas. They are generous with toppings and everything is made fresh. I highly recommend this place and look forward to coming back!
Compliments to the team at Slowhand. From customer service to the cleanliness of the restaurant and not to mention the quality of pizza, we had a 10/10 experience. The pizzas are baked fresh to order, and the 3 day dough proofing process is very evident in the quality of the product. Highly recommend the Peter Piper and Double Trouble!
I had ordered Peter Piper and Fungus Amongus. Trust me I had the best pizza till date. The crust and the toppings were delicious. All the ingredients were super fresh and I loved every bite of it.
Delicious pizza. Different from your usual pizza tou get everywhere else. The crust is crispy and flavourful.
Very good pizza . Needed just a bit more sauce. Friendly service. If in the area will buy again.
MUST TRY: Three Little Pigs Double Trouble Mushaboom Garlic C.R.E.A.M Dip so crispy, so delicious, toppings r loaded. i usually dont enjoy thick pizzas because i prefer the ratio of thin pizza however this was deliciousssss. the ratio was great and i didnt feel sluggish after eating it. i also LOVE a good crispy crunch moment. probably the crunchiest pizza ive had. SERVICE & CLEANLINESS: knowledgable, kind, welcoming, clean BRANDING: 10/10 branding and logo design work. the incorporation of the snail and hand is unique. whoever is (and was) in charge of their digital content and designs are doing an awesome job. keep it up hehe. you truly feel like youre in slowhands world when you walk into their store
Great pizza.
Insane pizza
Their ricotta zucchini pizza was surprisingly really good, they were really nice thick pizzas, soft and crunchy at the same time.
Just awesome, we shared 4 of them, I feel the mushroom one was the best, but all were 5 star. New favorite place!
BEST!
I kept seeing this spot pop up on my TikTok and was finally in the area so gave them a try. I got the Pineapple Express, the bacon used in lieu of the usual ham elevated this pizza and the jalapeños gave it a nice kick. We also got the creamy garlic dip, if you love garlic then the dip is a must. They have a cute patio out front to eat and enjoy the summer weather!
We drove from Innisfil to this place only for their Pizza. It was really delicious
Loved every bite. The sour dough was freshly made and that made a huge difference. Did not feel bloated after eating this like it happens with most other pizzas
Don t eat there , staff got poor attitude, menu doesn t have too many options.
We ordered the Peter Piper and Three Little Pigs from Slowhand Sourdough Pizza for takeout ahead of time as we have heard this place gets busy. When we arrived to pick up the food, it was close to being done, so we did not have to wait long. We were happy with the quick service and brought it home to eat. However, as per the website, the Peter Piper pizza is supposed to come with hot honey drizzled on top, but ours did not have it. Ive attached pictures of the website description and what we received. We were a little disappointed as wed heard great things about this particular pizza, which is why we ordered it. The Three Little Pigs had a good amount of meat on it, but we found it quite salty and oily compared to the Peter Piper pizza. I suggest checking your order before taking it home to ensure they havent missed anything.
Did not even look at me when I came in with my baby. I was standing there for more than 5 minutes. I was the only person inside. I give an absolute zero for service. There were four guys in the kitchen standing there quietly and could see me perfectly. I do not rate this place for service and I shouldnt have pre tipped on this lack of acknowledgement
Wow, you gottaeat here! You know I love pizza, and have high expectations when it comes to the next best pie spot. Without a doubt, this is a slice of heaven. All their pizzas are deep dish. The dough is soft but filling. Dont be fooled by the size of their pizzas, two slices in, youll feel plenty full and satisfied. Their garlic sauce is definitely made in-house and was real good. The bottled cane sugar coke was the best drink to wash it all down : ) First time recommendations: DOUBLE TROUBLE. 5/5 (add their hot honey sauce for a kick) Sourdough crust, Stanislaus tomato sauce, house cheese blend, and double Ezzo pepperoni. Finished with oregano and fresh basil. $21.00 PETER PIPER 5/5 My wife loved it. For me, the ricotta dollop were a bit too bland and watery, but if your a fan of ricotta, then youll love it. Sourdough crust, Stanislaus tomato sauce, house cheese blend, Ezzo pepperoni, and pickled jalapeño peppers. Finished with whipped ricotta dollops, oregano, and a hot honey drizzle. Peter Piper $21.00 They have washrooms, minimal indoor seats and plenty patio seating available. People eat quick but mostly they do take out. The sauce and peperoni is just next level good. I will definitely be back and recommend this spot to anyone. Vegetarian options: Plenty veggie options. No vegan cheese available. Youll have to order a pizza without cheese. Parking: Limited spots on-site but plenty street parking available. Kid-friendliness: No high chairs available for kids. Wheelchair accessibility: Poor wheelchair accessibility. However, your can easily access the patio since its all one level.
Every pizza store have their special pizza try these
Great pizza! I would recommend getting the three little pigs
First time trying this style pizza, and they definitely hit it out of the park. Great quality ingredients and large portion sizes. Expect a bit of a wait, but they have plenty of outdoor seating.
Maybe the best pizza I ve had in Toronto.
Great tasting pizza just a bit on the expensive side
Light airy crust, as promised. Will be back. The Zuchini ricotta pizza was amazing. A request for the chef: can you please develop a more flavourful vegetarian red sauce pizza? The Sting Me is far too bland, not much going on. We need something to substitute the flavour bombs you get from pepperoni and other meat. Not suggesting a fake meat substitute. But maybe a more flavourful red sauce, marinated veggies, or a drizzle, or more flavourful cheese variety.
Saw the tiktok. Had to have it. Uber wasnt registering when they opened and the gentleman who answered the phone fixed it immediately because were out of the delivery zone and couldnt order online. (which is better if youre closer) it took 30 mins to get here because were far and Omggggg it still slapped. Soooo freaking good. The fungus amung us is soooo under rated. And the garlic sauce is to die for. Its also soooo filling. I cant wait to come sit on the patio and have it hot and fresh. Thank you so much :) Vegetarian options: The fungus amung us is amazing!!!
If you want a really tasty pizza I would definitely recommend this place. The home made sauce was so good but you really didnt need it. We drove all the way from Brampton to try it and we are happy we did!
Great place, with a unique pizza style of a sourdough crust. The pizza is very filling and delicious.
Just happened to be near by visiting from way outta town. What a surprise! This spot was everything summer stands for. Great pizza, good vibes, outside seating, and refreshing local drinks. The pizza was just stellar, crazy crunch from the crust and super flavour combinations. I ll be back to TO just for this pizza. Yes that s right I ll drive through the inane traffic and angry drivers who never take the actual exit lane, but instead merge right before the exit classic I m too important to wait Toronto attitude that you just don t feel at Slowhand.
Delicious . Pretty awesome pizza in Leslieville. Pizza is light, yet a crispy edge. Full of flavour that is well balanced. Crispy pepperoni. The local vibe and chill patio to enjoy your pizza. Dude s Food Score: 4.75
The pizza was great and very different from the classic slice you are probably be used to. The Detroit-style + sourdough combo makes this a serious piece of pie that will leave you feeling full fast. Owner was cool and gave us free dip as they ran out of zuchinni for our original order (also offered to go out and buy one just for us)! 10/10
Oh yeah, it s a great spot quality sourdough and excellent topping combinations the boys working here were accommodating and helped me choose the right pizza. I haven t bought a hat from them because it was a vibe and I down the pizza faster than 100 m sprint. I d share photos but Pizza long gone. I had the Piper pizza and it s important to eat it sooner than later as a ricotta cheese melts. Maybe make bigger pizzas next time because mans are hungry. I guess I m getting two pizzas to my face next time.
This place has pickle pizza which is a must try flavor!! It was a perfect salty balance on this thick sourdough crispy crust. Love it and definitely recommend. The patio is also nice for enjoying your pizza outside in the summer.
Disappointing Experience at Slowhand Sourdough Pizza I recently visited Slowhand Sourdough Pizza and was extremely disappointed with both the service and the food. When I walked in, instead of being greeted warmly, the order taker immediately assumed I was there to pick up an Uber Eats order. There was no greeting or welcoming atmosphere just judgment. As for the pizza, it was bland and tasteless. The crust felt like overcooked refined flour bread, with no distinct flavor. To make matters worse, no oregano or Italian seasoning was provided, even though I spent $55 on just two pizzas. I ve had much better pizza from Costco, which is a fraction of the price. I wouldn t recommend this place at all. Save your money and go to Domino s or Little Caesars, where you ll get better quality without the pretentious attitude. Be cautious of the overly positive reviews on Google they don t reflect the actual experience. Parking: 3-4 parking only
Tried it for the first time and now I understand the craze about it. Its definitely a different type of pizza. Thick with crispy edges. Got the Double Trouble and Three Little Pigs without the shredded white cheese on top. Each pizza has 4 squares. So thick that I was full after just 2 squares. If youre a fan of thick pizza, then you need to try it out. You can order online on their web site so that itll be ready for pick up. They have tables inside and an outdoor patio.
Great Pizza! First time having Sourdough pizza and loved it. Definitely suggest the Dill Pizza. If dining in, the music isnt kid friendly. But, they offer take out and delivery. Great Pizza! Parking: Parking along Pape.
Superb. The dill pickle pizza was great. Their dips are superb as well.
Detroit style, a bit oily but still great. I got the pepperoni with jalapenos and ricotta. Pretty fire!
Great pizza Cashless payment is what is wrong with the world..... terrible way to treat customers and fellow people The business hours have always stunk.
These boys do not play! Top shelf pizza made from sourdough! Drove 40 minutes to try it , worth every minute! I m genuinely shocked they don t have a massive line up out the door. Highly highly recommend
Ordered several pizzas for pickup on 6:30pm on a Friday night. Really enjoyed the crust on the pizzas. My favorites were Fungus Amongus and Peter Piper. The BBQ chicken (the feature pizza) was a little dry. Prices are on the higher side especially for the portion sizes. Definitely recommend ordering ahead of time, as most customers were told it d be a 15-30 min wait when they ordered in person. There s some indoor seating as well as a patio with a few tables.
The Peter Piper picked a pickled jalapeño pizza was phenomenal. Crispy crust, and sumptuous dough. The jalapeños were a lovely addition!
The only reason they get 4 stars is because they are in my opinion, expensive. But god damn they are good. Like super good. Its almost worth the price. Very very close to being worth it....... Maybe its not that expensive
I make my own sourdough pizzas at home, including Detroit-style, and am a snob about it. I d say Slowhand is the only Toronto pizza spot I ve tried that I admit makes it better than I do at home. The crust was not heavy at all, and was a perfect combo of crispy, fluffy, and flavourful.
Amazingly good pizza. Flavourful sauce, light flavourful and airy crust. Really, really enjoyed it. Worth the drive down from Bayview Village.
W O W ..why isnt this the standard of pizza, I neeed more, that edgey crispy cheesey goodness, hot damn, you know what im talking about, little square cast iron mold they cook them in! Fresh made to order and super friendly folk!!!!
Amazing toppings, fresh soft dough with a nice crispy crust.
The pizza at Sourdough pizzeria is amazing. Not too greasy and the flavour popped with the first bite.
Great thick and rich pizza. Definitely not an everyday kind of meal. But super tasty. Interesting flavour combos and some classics.
Great food, service and quality! Vegetarian options: Great! Parking: First come first at the plaza
Consistently good. Not too doughy.
Awesome pizza in a great location!
Pretty tasty pizza! I gave the Mushaboom a try. I felt like it needed a bit more sauce and toppings, the ratio of dough to toppings wasnt quite there for me. One other thing...if youre scrolling on your phone, probably best to wash your hands before you garnish a pizza with fresh herbs. Phones are disgusting...
I ordered delivery via a 3rd party app and the pizza did not travel well. Unfortunately the toppings and sauce were not distributed evenly across all four pieces. One piece had a thin layer of sauce and barely any toppings - basically just bread. Next slice was fine. Edges are cooked well - crunchy and satisfying to bite into. Box was not sealed so the contents could have easily been tampered with. Wouldnt order delivery again but would try ordering in person next time.
Highly recommended!
Whoever thought of pickles on pizza was a genius. Great quality and flavour!!
Pizza was amazing!! Maybe the pizza guys could crack a smile but hey. We all have bad days once in a while right? The patio is a great vibe
Fantastic Detroit style pizza. The crust is excellent and the balance of flavours is great in every pizza. Get the Peter Piper and the dill pickle pizza.
We decided to go to this pizza place after the original pizzeria we wanted to go to was booked for the day. This was a blessing in disguise. This pizza is INCREDIBLE! The toppings are perfect, the body is light, crispy and airy. I was a little surprised of how few people there were at this place. If you love deep dish pizza, then this is the place for you. The crew that works there really put the time in making sure each topping is placed to have the perfect bite. Their pizzas really look like a work of art and I could not recommend this place enough!
Best gourmet pizza! Crispy ends, soft doughy inside. Worth the trip to Leslieville.
Best Detroit style pizza in Toronto. If you research best Detroit pie in T.O you ll get other restaurant recommendations but let me tell you, this one is the best. The crust is amazing with a gorgeous cheese crust crown around the edge. The toppings are high quality and you can really see the care and enthusiasm for pizza crafting these guys put into their pies.
Really solid sourdough pizza in the east end. Smaller portions for the price, but overall incredibly tasty dough & topping options
terrible customer service, don t expect to feel welcomed when you order pick up or eat in. Very cold people.
Best detroid style pizza Ive tried. Staff was super friendly and pie was delicious
Soo good .. We tried pineapple Express.. Yumm.. New dto try all the other ones now.
Girl at the front was great and patient as it was our first time here. Pizza was good. Crust too thick for my liking. Food
Exceptional Sourdough Pizza Experience! I recently had the pleasure of dining at Slowhand Sourdough Pizza, and it was an absolute delight! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with warmth and hospitality. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed meal with friends or family. Now, lets talk about the star of the show - the sourdough pizza. Oh, my taste buds were in for a treat! Each bite was a burst of flavor, with the perfect balance of tanginess from the sourdough crust and freshness from the toppings. Its evident that the ingredients used are of the highest quality, and the attention to detail in crafting each pizza is commendable. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable, offering recommendations and ensuring that every aspect of our dining experience was top-notch. Its clear that they are passionate about what they do, and it truly reflects in the food and service they provide. Overall, I cant recommend Slowhand Sourdough Pizza enough. Whether youre a sourdough aficionado or simply someone who appreciates delicious food, this place is a must-visit. Ill definitely be returning soon for another round of mouthwatering pizzas!
Great pizza shop with friendly staff . I loved the sourdough crust. Vegetarian options: They replaced the bacon with mushroom for me on the pineapple Express. Food : 5/5 |
Had the pleasure of trying this place for the first time today and it was well worth the wait. The pizza was spectacular. The crust and sauce were both out of this world. Toppings top notch and they definitely did not skimp on the whipped ricotta on my Peter Piper pizza. The garlic sauce was very good too, but as their website says with this pizza it isn t really needed. The owner was super friendly and I will definitely be coming back. My only grievance is it s a cashless establishment, but luckily they allowed me to pay with exact change, normally I boycott cashless establishments but I will definitely make the exception for this place again. They also have a patio, it s very basic but hey what beats sitting outside in the sun eating some delicious za
Mmmm mmmm mmmm. Seriously delicious. OMG!!The one with double pepperoni is the bomb
Been wanting to try this place for a while and it was well worth the wait. Had the Peter Piper and very much enjoyed it. Crust and burnt cheese on the outside was delicious. Ricotta on top was def my favourite part of the pizza. One of the best pizza places in Toronto for sure and can t wait to come back!
Ive been a HUGE fan since we ordered during the pandemic. It was a block not even from my house, and co-founder Bretts dog and my dog were besties. I was THRILLED when they opened a shop. The pizza is chefs kiss. My favourite is the Pineapple Express. And Ill never touch the pickle one, but I know people love it! They have a few tables inside, and picnic tables outside. Go!
Unreal pizza. Fantastic crust. You owe it to anyone in your life who thinks Detroit style pizza is too heavy to bring them to Slowhand.
Amazing pizza, one of best i ve ever tried. The sourdough is super light & airy although it s a thick cut & really what makes the pizza shine. The pepperoni was crispy & went really well with the hot honey drizzle, highly recommend! The crust & cheese were delicious as well. I will definitely be back!
Had the peter piper and it was extremely flavourful and delicious! The sourdough bread was light and airy. Good amount of toppings. Takes about ~15min to make your pizza. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The garlic sauce was a bit on the salty side in my opinion.
Stopped in seeing reels and while Im always wary about the reel game, this place absolutely EXCEEDED my expectations. Excellent customer service, and the pizza wasnt crazy heavy but had a light feel to it. Talked with one of the guys, I forget his name but made us feel hella welcome. Definitely coming back!!
Tried it for the first time and was absolutely surprised by the pizza. It was soft, juicy, and crusty all at the same time. Its really flavourful and something different than traditional ones. You can feel the difference between NY style and detroit style. Its really good. I would definitely recommend if youre craving for Brooklyn style pizza at the east end and the guys working there are super nice and friendly.
A must try if youre craving for Brooklyn style pizza. Something different to try to if youre bored of the same traditional ones. The crust is soft, juicy, and crunchy all at the same time. It was something that was totally different from NY style. The people working there are super nice and friendly.
I bake sourdough at home. I only eat sourdough bread. Whenever I eat non-sourdough, I don t feel that great afterwards. So I am super-excited to have found Slowhand! The crust tasted so light and delicious, the toppings were fantastic. Thank goodness you are 40+ min from my home or I would be eating your pizza too often! My husband who doesn t like pizza was raving about your pizza. Then he sat in his chair, like a cute puppy, hoping that another family member would kindly share part of their piece with him (since he had already wolfed down his own pieces).
Best pizza in the East end. Pickle pizza is our favorite.
Awesome place for a beer and deep dish pizza. Love their sourdough crust zaa.
Tried the Petter Piper and 3 little pigs, loved both of them. You can taste the freshness of all the ingredients used. It s a worth the price.
PHENOMENAL. Peter piper was so so so good. And the garlic sauce is a must! Dangerously good and a single pizza will satisfy 2 people for sure!
Hands down the best pizza in the city! when you order for pickup it s always ready exactly when you specify, hot, fresh, and crispy. Definitely worth the try
The sourdough is like eating a savoury marshmallow cloud, topped with gourmet treats. Chill atmosphere and friendly staff. Highly recommended! Parking: Free parking lot right in front of the restaurant. Kid-friendliness: Friendly atmosphere, and big patio for the summer.
Our first time trying Slowhand pizza, but it will not be our last! We shared the Hungry like a Wolf & Double Trouble pizzas and both were exceptional. Delivered quickly, the crust had a cheesey crunch around the edges, and there toppings were some of the best we ve had.
I m no Portnoy but this is a 9.1. It s like a Detroit style but so fluffy and light. Great sauce. Not greasy at all. Good stuff guys
OFF. THE. HOOK. Super nice people, ABBBBBSOLUTELY amazing food!!! Taste, quality, price, presentation and just brilliant!!!! Beautifully crafted, a tasteful of indulgence and you WILL go back for more!!! The Special of the day was a Jardiniere with fennel sausage on it that just filled your tastebuds to overload!! The Double Trouble was the other one we got was divine and a sweet salty indulgence. Playing up the cheese on the side for a delectable crisp and the softness of the dough dragging you in for the next bite on both of them. Oh hell yeah were going back!!!!!! Loved it so much I put their sticker logo on my amp!!!!
The pizza was thick but light enough to eat a lot of - which is impressive for Detroit style pizza. Hot honey pizza is my favorite. Descendant is right down the street too if you ever wanted to compare. In any case, the best Detroit style pizza in the world is ironically in Toronto - Descendant. But Slowhand is arguably just as good as Descendant.
Let me start off by saying Im not a big fan of pizza. I like them fine but Ive never craved them and they are never high on my list of places I need to go. However, Ive been seeing a lot of chatter about this place and I do love my sourdough bread so finally went to check it out with some friends and this spot lives up to all the hype. The crust is incredible, so crunchy, flavourful with a nice chew, very reminiscent of Detroit style deep dish. We tried the Peter Piper and Double Trouble and both were amazing. I want to go back and try them all, even their vegetarian pizzas look good. Each rectangular pizza is cut into 4 slices and should be good enough for 2 average people to share. They make it fresh to order so be prepared to wait 20-30 mins if theres no line up, more if its busy.
My first time trying this place and I must admit this is the best damn pizza Ive had in a very long time, I actually went back in just to give praise to the makers of pizza! The quality of the toppings were spot on as well as the crust and the thickness of the dough is very light just an excellent pizza all around I cant wait to try the other vegetarian options I tried the Fungus Amongus. Thanks for a great experience! Vegetarian options: Judging by the menu it looked like they had about five vegetarian options pizzas as well as you can opt for vegetarian on the other pizzas as well Kid-friendliness: They greeted me the new I was a new customer and I welcomed
Simply delicious. Pizza par excellence.
This is the best pizza in Toronto hands down. Im usually an italian style thin crust in a wood oven kind of pizza lover but this stuff is so good Ive been won over. I recently went to Chicago and tried the best Chicago deep dish in a number of historic and hole in the wall local favorites. None of them came close to being as good as Slow Hand or Decendant Pizza. Slow hand is somewhere between the best Chicago deep dish and quality ingredient artisanal italian thin crust you will ever eat. Similar to that quality italian thin crust- its best eaten fresh out of the oven. So go there to eat it or pick it up yourself. You will not be disappointed!
A legitimate 10/10 pie. Very high quality toppings. Dough was cooked to perfection.
Super friendly, such yummy pizza - never disappoints Kid-friendliness: Always friendly with kids and kid friendly atmosphere Food : 5/5 |
Decided to order from here and ordered directly instead of Uber, wanting to spare them fees or at least give them more money. I saw their delivery fee was pretty high, which I don t understand how everyone charges for delivery in this city but okay . Then I entered my driver tip. But then they asked for a RESTAURANT tip. What? Isn t that the balance of everything else?? Not ordering from here again that s for sure. Pie was tasty though so if we re ever in the mood to eat in, sure, we ll go back. But two tips PLUS delivery fees is way too much.too much for me anyway
Fantastic pizza highly recommend Whats the Dill Yo and Peter Piper!
Fantastic deep dish with a deliciously light crust and crispy cheese around the edges. Plus, they play all the great classics on the speakers.
Rude and racist cashier..
Unkindddd
Absolutely amazing experience, came for the sourdough pizza and stayed for the immaculate vibes and good energy from the owner!
Had the Big Cheese with the Garlic C.R.E.A.M. Dip. Absolutely fantastic. The dough is simultaneously crunchy and spongy, the flavours are on point. Regretted buying a single pizza to split with my wife as we both were craving more.
10/10, unreal quality and crust is AMAZING. A must try and my new go to for pizza.
One of my favourite pizza places in the city. Staff is always super friendly. Nice little patio in the summertime. Most important, the pizza is incredible!
Got delivery! Fantastic flavours. Will definitely order again.
Awesome pizza, very long wait
We first heard of this place from a family member and were curious to try as its located just down the street from Descendants (another well known pizza place). We visited on a mild February afternoon and ordered the pineapple express and waited maybe 15 minutes for it to be cooked. The pizza was very well balanced with light and airy bread. It was topped with (fresh) pickled jalapenos and fresh pineapple. These sweet and sour notes were balanced with the salty bacon and fresh coriander. If youre into Detroit style pizza, youll love this as it has the trademark cheese skirt. Overall, it was very light and fresh tasting which was exactly what we were looking for. This place has some eat-in seating, a small exterior patio, and a few parking spots. Id totally revisit this place and recommend people to do a mini Detroit style pizza food crawl down this block!
The Peter Piper pizza is truly excellent and is unlike other pizzas in the city. There is something delicious about the combination of pepperonis, jalapenos, and hot honey that makes it very addictive.
I have issues with gluten when i eat it i get sharp pains on sides of my waist and with in 1 hour washroom, but i heard sourdough didnt give people sensitive to gluten issues so i tried it, loved it! If your like me maybe give it a shoot i dont know if celiac people should tho.
