Via Mercanti Avenue in Toronto

I cant say enough about the taste we tried pasta and pizza they are really great, the service is nice and friendly, overall 5 experience. The only downside is the two big screens, that makes it a bit hard with young kids specially that they play parts of famous nostalgic movies but in one of them it involved +18 scenes and I didnt feel comfortable as my kiddo was staring at screen, other than that the food is amazing

Delicious Italian food.

We recently tried takeout from this restaurant. The pizza was a blackened pita topped with tomato sauce, some prosciutto and a single (cold and runny) blob of fresh mozzarella plopped in the centre ($29). When I opened the box I was stunned by how pathetic it looked. I also ordered an eggplant parmigiana, which is listed on the menu as a main for $24. It consisted of an insultingly meager scoop of mush with some marinara sauce slopped on top. So disappointing.

Great food and service.

I completely agree with the seafood pasta. The dish included just 3 clams (which were empty, so the food was essentially lost), 3 mussels, and 4-5 tiny shrimp. While the tomato sauce was decent, the price of the dish makes no sense given the almost non-existent seafood. My friends shared a soggy Pizza Primavera, and once again, I cant understand the quality of this place. The chicken parmigiana was fine, but to my surprise, it was served with a salad instead of pasta, and we were never asked if we preferred a side of pasta instead.

It s my 6 time, we love this place as a family. My friend John introduced me to this place and the owner. Such a great chain, owner is simply a wonderful person to talk to.

I don t review restaurants often. Especially to give a bad review. I even feel bad posting this but I have to say that I we were all very disappointed with our meal tonight. We ordered enough food for 7 people and 2 kids. A mix of pasta and pizza. The pasta Funghi had no flavour. I did not enjoy it at all. My sister had the same dish and did not enjoy it either. The kids had pasta with tomato sauce, they enjoyed their meal. Of the 4 pizza s 2 of them were ok. One of them had very little flavour. I really wanted to like this place. We did take out for the order. I hope others have a better experience.

A newer restaurant on Aveune road. Lovely stone baked pizza! Interior and patio are nice and clean. Staff was professional and very pleasant.

We have tried this place 3 times now and 3 times I have been underwhelmed and especially at the obscene cost. I am not quick to provide a negative review but honestly this place does not meet expectations. If someone in your party orders a pizza and someone else orders something from the kitchen -- good luck having them arrive on time. The waiter will claim pizza ovens are unpredictable but seems weird to not have that timing down. The desserts are underwhelming too. Always seems to have a steady flow of people and seemingly good reviews but take it from me youre better off at something like Padella across the street - equally if not a touch more pricey but at least it tastes straight from Italy.

Real Italian servers, food and drinks. Cosy, comfortable, a neighborhood gem. Have been a few times and will keep going back.

Great pizzas and service.

Excellent food and service at Via Mercanti, it was our first time and it s the most similar experience we had to our recent Italy trip. We had the pizza Via Mercanti and the lasagna, they were both very tasty. The lasagna service was a bit small but the pizza compensated that small service. Parking: There s a green P behind the restaurant, street paid parking available as well

I went to Avenue Rd for sushi or Thai food but my nose brought me here. Amazing service, food was great! It was a bit busy but ultimately a great experience.

We enjoyed our meal and the service was outstanding! Well be back!

Honestly the best pizza in Toronto. The bufalina is insanely good and probably the top seller. Just came back from Italy and this is better than most of the restaurants I went to there. So authentic. They import the flour from Italy so no bad stomach aches after from all the chemicals that are allowed to be put in the flour here. 100% recommend! Also the staff are amazing as well.

Best pizza around!

I have gone to Via Mercanti on Avenue Road several times with friends and family. The food, service and atmosphere is exceptional. I will definitely continue going. I have never been disappointed. Kid-friendliness: I have brought my grandchildren several times and the staff is always very kind and accommodating.

Delicious, flavorfull and fresh food served here with amazing service by Davide and his team. Felt like I was in Italy, everything was served fresh, from the home made Meatballs to the Margherita Pizza and the best Tiramisu in town. Highly recommend dining here.

I dont know what to say other than wow! We ordered 3 pizzas, and one was better than the other. The quality of the ingredients is impressive. It is undoubtedly the best pizza you can find in Toronto.

Great authentic Italian cuisine

I am writing this review out of bliss. This restaurant is right next door to my restaurant. I came to try their pizza and was not disappointed. The taste of the pizza made me feel like I was in Italy. Bravo guys. keep it up

These restaurateurs should be ashamed of themselves. This was the most inauthentic Italian food I ve ever experienced. Similar quality to an East Side Mario s. Absolutely zero flavour. Lacked presentation. Exorbitant prices. Dinner was $75 before tip for 2 appetizers and a pizza, and one app was $11 for French fries. Might work with the wealthy neighborhoods surrounding this establishment, but this is an insult to the Italian culture and an embarrassment to Italian cuisine. Will never return. This place will not be around in 18 months. On top of that you have management and ownership sitting at front joking around very unprofessional. If you want authentic go across the street to see chef Giovanni at Padela and experience a real authentic Italian meal.

Service was mediocre. We had to ask for cheese for our pasta dish and my daughter s Caesar salad was dry and loaded with croutons. When we brought it to the attention of staff they just removed the salad and never offered another option. We were dismissed. Although we appreciated the apology , we left disappointed. Won t be returning.

Very authentic Italian food, nothing processed. Pasta was made fresh. Service was amazing. Atmosphere, felt like you were dining in Italy. Definitely would recommend it to friends for a great night out

The special pizza is quite bad

Their Gnocchi Norcina took me back to when I was 6 years old in Italy and eating Gnocchi for the first time. I highly recommend this dish

I had the special last night. It was a generous amount of mortadella, buratta cheese, pistachio spread on a pizza bread base. I m not totally sure I described the dish properly but I m 100% certain it was unbelievably delicious!!!

Excellent pizza, seafood linguine and wine! Great service too and they remember you when you return. Classic wood pizza oven.

Husband and I decided to try this little gem out after hearing great things and it did not disappoint! The food was absolutely spectacular. We ordered a few pizzas, calamari, anranchini and tiramisu for dessert - all blew us away. The service was wonderful as well. All of the staff were so attentive and lovely. I would highly recommend if you love a good authentic Italian pie. Will be frequenting here often. Our new favourite Italian spot! Thank you guys for a fabulous experience!

Amazing authentic italian food made by italians! The pizza is on another level, just like Italy! The pasta is fantastic and the desserts are fabulous! They also had a unique italian beer, friuli, which was great! Lovely staff!

Very flavoursome and delicious margherita and margherita with pepperoni pizza s as well as yummy linguine pomodoro and tagliatelle bolognese and delicious tiramisu. Note: the pasta dishes and tiramisu portions are so tiny that a child would still leave hungry!!

Great place, great atmosphere and GREAT food. Had the Calamari appetizer, the Capricciosa pizza and Cannoli for dessert and they were all to die for!!! Ill be returning very soon.

Pizza is great- dough is soft, toppings are fresh. Pasta bolognese is a favourite as is the gnocchi. Service is fantastic. Would go back again and again!

Nice place pizza is very good , but too many hands cutting the pizza and not using gloves . The waiter n the pizza cook standing over the pizza cutting it and touching it together with no gloves taking prosciutto and putting over the pizza no gloves . That s not hygienic at least don t do it in front of the costumers .

Authenticity, high quality (tried several items of the menu), great service. I found my perfect Italian place!

The food is great and the staff working there are even better. Not to mention the pizza is out of this world!

So happy that we have a new pizzeria on Avenue Road. We did takeout but the pizza was on point and the service was very friendly.

I don t know where to start, was really looking forward to going as we have been to another Pizzeria Via Mercanti and loved it, unfortunately this one just doesn t cut it. They (maybe)Italian but no Italian would enjoy the food that was offered, zero flavour, I was so disappointed will never darken their doorstep again. And one more thing way, way too expensive for what we had.

What an amazing experience we had! The food was 10/10 delicious and authentically Italian. Best wood oven pizza Ive had! Great vibe within the restaurant and the staff was extremely helpful, friendly, and welcoming! Would 100% recommend Pizzeria Via Mercanti Avenue to all family and friends.

I had a superb dining experience characterized by a warm reception from the staff. The homemade pasta scarpariello was of exceptional quality, showcasing the culinary prowess of the establishment. The well-curated wine selection further enhanced the overall dining experience. The ambiance, accompanied by Italian music, contributed to a delightful atmosphere. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and anticipate returning in the future.

Very welcoming and friendly staff but the service was subpar. Drinks came out after entree, and our wobbly table couldn t be fixed :( the pizza we got had a giant cheese curd on one side that was hard and not melted, but still tasty.

I dislike giving bad reviews so I going to focus on the positives first. The atmosphere was very nice. Th staff were friendly and polite The food tasted great. The problem was the extremely small portion size. I m not a huge eater. But I got the parpadelle bolognese. Fabulous flavour. But the portion was TINY. By far the smallest serving of pasta I have had out of any Italian restaurant in Toronto. Comparing it to other places, for $24 it should have been at least double. Additionally the restaurant could provide a bread basket. So again the quality of food and service are great. And the pizzas look fantastic and worth the money. I just won t be back for the pasta. I hope the management will take this review into consideration. Thanks.

The best gnocchi I have ever eaten in my life, the service was incredible and I loved the place. 10/10
