Homestyle Polish dishes & Eastern European fare in a warm, understated space with many Polish beers.
Delicious homestyle Polish cuisine. We were seated quickly upon entering for lunch and the place was already almost full with large groups celebrating the upcoming Christmas break. We ordered the Combination Plate Platter for 2, which was huge and could easily feed 3. The pork schnitzel was crispy on the outside, tender inside and the mushrooms on top were delightful. The cabbage rolls and pierogies were huge and flavourful. We love cabbage, so, the salads really hit the spot. As we are gluttons, we ordered potato pancakes as well - potato goodness! This is not fast food. They took a bit of time (not a long wait) to cook our food and we really appreciated everything was freshly made to order. They sell frozen pierogies. We bought a couple dozen of their cheddar & potato and sauerkraut pierogies. Service was friendly. Would definitely recommend Café Polonez!
This restaurant is great. There’s a ton of diverse Polish menu items options to choose from. The portions are large. The staff are polite and very quick. I really enjoyed the basics like the perogies and the sausages. More complex dishes were great too like borscht and the Polish pancake but I really like the hearty tastes of the basics.
Best polish food I have ever had everything is perfect, my boyfriend and I always get the platter for 2 and it’s such a great deal. The food is delicious and so is the service. Make sure to get one of each cabbage role and add a sausage to the platter. Super humble place pumping out classic comforts. Also there’s normally some mushrooms on the schnitzel but they were out of the specific kind that day, but they did bring over a whole bowl of different mushrooms before I even asked which I really appreciated!
I want to say that after our bad anniversary experience in a renamed restaurant, my husband wants to take me to a second chance aniversary dinner. And he said what do you want? I said good food and something different. And here we are eating one of my best meals in a very long time. When the dishes arrived we see eachother and said: omgggg we will take some food home, this is so much. 40 min after we were licking our plates hahahahha 😂. We finished so full that decided to walk to the station. Was great flavors, great amount, good beer. If I can give a extra start I will 2 more. Thanks so much to make the best of our anniversary second chance. I will come back and try more dishes.
We visited this lovely Polish restaurant again. The restaurant is located near the Revue Movie Theatre, which makes an ideal spot to dine prior to or after the movie. Food is always scrumptious. This time, we had the signature dishes: Schnitzel Polonez, Beef Paprikash, and Kotlet Mielony. All well prepared and served hot. Portions are more than generous, so keep in mind not to order any appetizers unless you are going to share the entree. Perfect Roncy Restaurant to visit if you are looking for homecrafted food. Restaurant has been opened since 1981 and continues to keep high standards.
I love it here! Reminds me of the milk bars in Poland and I have enjoyed my meal experience here. Cozy interior with unpretentious atmosphere and service. All the food is excellent and super classic and a totally jewel in Roncesvalles; the platter options are great and the variety of food is very competitively priced. I leave here feeling full and happy. :)
Authentic polish & Eastern European restaurant with huge portions. Loved the herring appetizer. Platter for two was a great way to try a few things. Pierogis and schnitzel were very good; not a fan of their cabbage rolls. I will definitely be coming back to try more things on the menu!
It is one of the best places to have Polish food. The food portion was generous and the taste was well balanced. Ordered platter for 1 (Hunter’s stew, 4 pierogies, and 1 schnitzel with mushrooms), a cabbage roll, and 3 potato pancakes. Fed 2 people very full. The schnitzel had good crunchy textures and flavour. The pierogies skin was al dente, not too soft, not to hard, perfect chewiness with cheese potato filler. The cabbage roll was just plain good and very tasty. Service was friendly and attentive. Drinks were refilled without being asked.
No one answers the phone! Dont know if you are still open or closed
Best in class!
Food was not to expectations, service was very slow 40 minutes before anyone asked if we wanted something to drink, waitress was ok she did her best due to the situation, would not return though been there do one tha,oh well.
Delicious!!!!!
Really well cooked central European food. Schnitzels were the best Ive had in decades. Meat was cooked to perfection with crunchy, but non-greasy coating. Good service and nice unpretentious setting. Highly recommended. Fries were exceptional. Fairly thick cut with crunchy outer layer and soft inside.
My boyfriend and I love this place! The food is so comforting, big portions, and we leave feeling nourished (and I usually have leftovers for the next day)! Recently, we tried the Hunter s Stew, it is SO hearty and delicious. We love everything we ve tried here! I usually go with the pork schnitzel, used to have the roasted chicken. I am so grateful this place is still going strong (been around since the 70 s I believe), because of it s quality food, cozy atmosphere, plus friendly staff.
Food was tasty and we really loved it. Staff kindly
Been coming here for years. Great food. Great staff.
Delicious Polish food! Highly recommend the chicken schnitzel and flaczki (soup).
Fantastic flavours in the chicken and salads. Very generous portions great for leftovers.
Excellent cherry pierogies.
Its always a treat to eat in this place. We start off with a fruity compote. A must have to order is their white borscht soup and beef tripe soup. For the mains wed always go for the Potato pancakes with goulash, cabbage rolls and liver and onions. Do not forget to grab mixed flavored pierogies for dessert as its one of our favorites here. Im not of any European background but we always love to come here and dine here. Always a treat when we come to this establishment.
I went twice in one week because the food was just THAT GOOD. Polish husband also agrees - this place is amazing. Reasonable prices, unassuming atmosphere, wonderful and attentive staff. Will be returning for my bigos!
One local spot that our family love love love. Authentic polish food. If you love perogies you can t go wrong coming to cafe polonez. We went on a Monday night a large group of 8 and had the platter for 4 and a bunch more of other dishes and we were stuffed. I need to go back !!!
Large portions of food. Very friendly servers. The food was delicious.
Loves the food here and ambience. Amazing time everytime I come here. Food
My first time having authentic Polish food and I will say I am extremely impressed. Not only was the food delicious but the service was phenomenal. Our server Philip, was so accommodating and friendly, he gave us the best recommendation. Not to mention how humorous and charming he was. What a catch!! 11/10 food and service. Will definitely be coming back.
I visited this restaurant a couple of days ago. It was my first time trying polish food and the food was delicious. However the highlight of my visit was the customer service. I was greeted by Phillip. I was very impressed to the attention to detail that he had. His recommendations were delicious and he was always present in the right moment to accommodate me. I definitely recommend to give this place a try! Give Phillip a thanks for me!
had the chance to try Polish food for the first time and it was AMAZING! Our server Philip was so helpful and kind. Will be back :)
Went there for a birthday celebration, and the food and service were fantastic.
Always great food
I had Hungarian or Portuguese cuisine for the first time and everything was so delicious! It seems that there are many regulars and it is a quite popular restaurant. Staff are accommodating and friendly. We had Hungarian Poteto pancake, pierogi, cold borscht & boiled potato . It might be nice to share Platter with others next time. #contestentry It was my first time eating Hungarian and Portuguese food, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. There are many families and elderly people, so it feels like a restaurant frequented by locals. The popular Hungarian Poteto pancake is stuffed with plenty of pork goulash and goes well with the chewy potato batter. I highly recommend you give it a try. For pierogi, you can choose steam only or steam&grill. I liked the thick fabric. We also recommend the platter for 2 $64, which allows you to enjoy a variety of perogies, cabbage rolls, and more, and is best shared by about 3 people.
Try the Platter for 1. Great food and appreciate that they accept Amex here.
Came in on a busy Monday. Staff accommodated the group well. It felt so warm and comforting on walking in with such a pleasing aroma of yummy food waiting to be eaten. Had a sample platter for one. The schnitzel was was flavourful and not dry, the beet salad delicious and the pierogies tasty. I noted they had some GF and V dishes as well. Would like to come back.
Delicious authenticité Polish food , great portions and lovely wait staff. Heaven! I recommend the Pork Cabbage Rolls. Have a vodka with it!
Fantastic meal. Huge portions.
This has been a favourite restaurant of mine for years! Its high quality, consistent, big portions, friendly and welcoming service and a great atmosphere. This is amazing Polish food!! I was especially impressed with the vegetarian cabbage rolls (and vegetarian options, for that matter) but the regular cabbage rolls and pierogi are the best around! Always get dessert.
Cafe Polonez is a wonderful polish restaurant. Featuring pierogi, schnitzel, potato pancakes, paprikash and other delicious dishes. I ve been here a number of times now and it never fails to please. The pierogi are wonderful both boiled and pan fried. The schnitzel is soft and tasty, well breaded. Everyone who I ve been with has agreed that this is a top notch experience. The atmosphere is a little loud when it gets busy and you need a reservation at busier times or be prepared to wait.
Absolutely the best potato pancakes in the city.
Great food as always. Servers are generally swamped, and it can get really loud with a lot of people dining at the same time. Great spot on Roncy.
Lovely simple place but a bit pricey.
Stellar food and beer! Their platter for 2 is legendary and gives you a taste of a few different things. Been going here for over 15 years now.
Absolutely incredible! This was our first time properly having a Polish meal and it was unbelievable the gentleman who served us tonight - thank you incredibly for your kindness and warmth
Great staff! Service was amazing! Very Clean!
Dont order delivery thru their website cuz you have no recourse if/when the order goes side ways. To many players and no one cares
If youre looking to start a love affair with Polish food, this is a great place to do it. Food is phenomenal. Order a bit of everything and feast! Always have a good time.
One of the few restaurants that serves Warka beer, and I tried thier tripe soup. It was the best that Ive had in a very long time. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for real Polish food.
Always a great day when Cafe Polonez is involved! Love this place.
Huge portions and tasty food at a reasonable price
Worth the trip. Food is out of this world. Definitely will be back again!
Polonez food atmosphere and service was great . We had a super delicious meal and pleasant time.Ms. Maja was awesome. We love rosol , cabbage rolls, hungarian gulash and for desert szarlotka.
Hearty stock-to-your-ribs food (thank you Grandma), local craft beers, family friendly. They also do a brisk take-out business. We ended up taking about half this dinner home! So. Much. Food.
A very hearty and filling meal, making for a great representation of Polish cuisine. Thankfully came here with my girlfriend at around 5 pm on a Saturday, and the restaurant was packed to the brim by 6. We ordered the platter for 2 with was $62 (I was very glad to know that tax was ALREADY included on the menu). As you can see in the photo, the portion size was huge. The pan-fried perogies were the star of the show, the schnitzel was good (but a bit lacking in flavor), and the cabbage rolls were very intriguing yet tasty. All of these items paired very well with the combination of salads presented on the platter as well. My girlfriend wasnt the biggest fan, but I thought it was the definition of comfort food and was glad to try it out. Id love to come back and try other items on the menu! Service was slow, but overall, Id recommend coming here.
A Taste of Poland in the heart of Roncesvalles Nestled in the heart of Roncesvalles, one of Torontos most authentic neighborhoods, you will find Cafe Polonez offering an authentic Polish dining experience that is simply unforgettable. This year, we decided to celebrate Thanksgiving at this charming eatery and were blown away by the exquisite flavors and warm hospitality. We indulged in a platter for two, a delightful assortment of classic Polish dishes full of flavour, including pork and chicken schnitzel, tender and satisfying pork cabbage rolls and pierogies (both potato and cheese and sauerkraut and mushrooms). I am so glad they have an option to try it all! Every bite was absolutely delicious and felt like a comforting hug from within, transporting us to a traditional Polish restaurant. The attentive and helpful staff made our dining experience even more enjoyable. We had a fantastic time and cant recommend Cafe Polonez enough. Despite not having a reservation, we were lucky enough to find a table as the place was bustling with patrons. We look forward to returning to try their entire selection of pierogies. If youre craving a taste of traditional Polish cuisine, Cafe Polonez is a must-visit. You wont be disappointed!
This is one of my favorite places in the neighborhood. Comfort food at its best!
You want pierogies in Toronto, this is the place. The best. A few vegan items to choose from too.
This is a great place for food, friends and just getting together for fun. A little loud at times, but friendly staff, great kitchen help and never a disappointment.
This decades-old Polish restaurant is a must visit. You can expect hearty, tasty plates served promptly by friendly staff in a clean, simple environment. Most dishes come with a standard selection of sides, but theyre all delicious and there are a lot of them so this is definitely a benefit rather than a drawback. Update: Visited 08/26/24 and it was at least as good, maybe better. The value is through the roof and the service is still amazing.
Fantastic home made food, delicious every time
Amazing Service! Fantastic food!
so delicious. Staff was very nice. cabbage rolls, pierogis, pancakes all very good. Will be back
My fav polish restaurant in dt Toronto hands down. As someone who had meh experience before, I was curious about how this restaurant maintain such a high review with over 1k people rated. So I came. On my own. My server was very kind and patient with helping me to decide what to order. With her recommendation, I had the classic schnitzel with pork loin. Oh. My. Goodness. It was sooooo delicious. The three salads came with it balanced so well, and the steamed potatoes too! I was dancing during my whole meal. Of course it s big portion, I packed 1/3 home and it was still yummy the next day. Can t wait to take my friends here and share the good food together. Thank you :)
The food was absolutely delicious, bursting with flavor and perfectly prepared. On top of that, we were served by a lovely lady with the most angelic gaze and beautiful eyes, who made the whole experience even more enjoyable. Her kindness and warm smile truly added a special touch to the meal
The food is delicious but they missed my favourite soup in a delivery order today and theres no way to get in touch with them. Their mailbox is permanently full and nobody is ever picking up the phone.
Nice place with generous portions. Very busy restaurant. All tables were taken during Polish Festival this weekend. Food : 4/5
Great food and service!
Super friendly atmosphere and staff although a little noisy. But its not that large a space. Cozy comes to mind. If youre up for good Polish fare and beers, this is the place Parking: Only paid street parking . But we easily found a spot just in front.
If your looking for authentic polish food this is the place. Priced appropriately good portions a lot of variety. Would recommend. Food
I just got back from Europe and was craving polish food. Their pierogies are sooo good and the food here is very authentic. Cabbage rolls are very filling and delicious. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to try some Polish food!
This place serves up the most mouthwatering authentic Polish cuisine at such reasonable prices. Youll absolutely love it!
Consistent quality delicious polish food , great packaging for takeout and all the sauces and sides. I LOVE their goulash Food
First time trying Polish food. A very lively and packed cafe.
Cozy and pleasant restaurant. Very tasty food (a special big thank you to the cooks) and excellent service. All waiters are very attentive and friendly. Lovely atmosphere and good prices. Many many years of successful business to the owner(s)!
Food is amazing with great portions! Tastes very authentic. But theres often a line. And even when you do get a seat, the service can be a little slow and service staff kind of forget about you...
Excellent meal! On Roncesvalles, in Hyde Park, a very good option for Central European specialties. The most requested dish is the Hungarian-style pancake. (Pancake stuffed with goulash, pork version and cow version) their schnitzel (Milanese) is also very delicious in its different versions.
Been coming here for the last seven years or so, it always hits the spot. Service is always great. People are always friendly and the portions are huge. The food is always delicious, fresh and satisfying. I can t post any photos because we always devour food.
I m polish & their food gives me all the homey feels. Truly feel good comfort food! My personal highlight: the fact that they offer homemade Kopytka!!! So delicious & rare to find!! And ofc also their pierogies are to die for hmmmmm so good!
This place is a long time favourite of my family and mine. They serve many traditional Polish dishes all made with care. I especially recommend the flaczki and the hungarian potato pancake. The restaurant is always bustling, and filled will amazing aromas.
5/5 experience! As someone with a strong Polish background, I brought a few friends here so they could try authentic Polish food for the first time. Needless to say, they loved the food! The staff were so nice and spoke Polish too. Food was fresh and tasty. Reminded me of my childhood for sure. Can t wait to come back! Dziekuje za pyszne jedzienie!
The sour cream is oddly served in plastic containers and I dont question it because the cabbage rolls and perogies are some of the best Ive had in Toronto. I also love the family/upscale dining feel. Come here for lunch, order a glass of wine and eat like an old European man mid-afternoon.
Very good, authentic Polish food. Reasonable pricing. The waitresses speak Polish!
Very good Polish restaurant. Felt like back home. I really recommend!
Just thinking of this restaurant tonight as I made sauerkraut and sausages as my Polish Mom used to make us . Wandering with a friend after fabric shopping on Queen St. Drove to a little fabric shop near here decided to have dinner. The lady serving us was pleasant and no waiting too long Enjoyed the delicious food.
Very fresh and homemade
Excellent service, tasty food. Have to go every time I visit Toronto.
This was some of the best Polish food Ive ever had. The portions were huge, the atmosphere was wonderful, and everything was well cooked. I highly recommend coming to eat here!
Great food and service
Service was good, and the food was delicious. Chicken schnitzel is our fav. Good value for your money. Kid-friendliness: Everyone is welcome
The wait for food was extremely long and the restaurant has washrooms downstairs which is not wheelchair accessible
I invited a friend for dinner, who wanted to explore Polish cuisine. I told her so many great things about food at Polonez. We ordered Hungiarian Pancakes with goulash, my favourite, I had many times in the past. But I was disappointed, and bit ambarassed in front of my freind. The dish was not what I remembered from few years ago. The meat was very dry and overcooked, and overall everything was very very salty. I remembre gulash meat melting in your mouth like butter, and pancakes delicious and crispy from the outside. POLONEZ IS STILL A GREAT PLACE TO DINE. And I will come again, but constructive note to the Chef, please try to keep the same quality and a good name for Polish food. Parking: Many options Kid-friendliness: Very friendly servers.
Nice food, great service
We ate at Cafe Polonez this week and the food was tasty and different with European flavours. Our waitperson was helpful, pleasant and efficient, making suggestions only when asked. A very pleasant evening.
Spectacular food. Spectacular restaurant. MUST. TRY> Everything is good there. Everything. The pierogi are mouthwatering drops of butter. The giant potato pancake with goulash is to die for. Go. Here! Food : 5/5 |
Great place, food and service. I recommend it if you want to eat well and tasty. Great Polish dishes.
Food was great as usual
I cannot say enough positive things about this restaurant. The food is so fresh and tasty. There s no surprise why every table is full. I look forward to having café Paul cater my future special occasions and events. I really enjoyed working and communicating with Patrick. He s been attentive communicative and very friendly through all interactions and I m just blown away by the level of service so thank you so much for everything. Highly recommend.
I ordered 3 packages of bigos today. Each contained a charred and burnt sausage.
Delicious home made polish cuisine. Excellent goulash and pierogi.
The food was great. Service is always good and waiters are very accommodating. We visited on Saturday and place was very crowded. You can enter without a reservation but I would recommend to make one in advance. Parking: You can find parking next to the restaurant, but most probably you will be forced to look for parking on adjacent streets.
Victoria is the best professional. Thank you for beautiful eyes
My favourite restaurant. Love the Polish food. Parking: Street parking can be tricky to find. Food : 5/5 |
Love the ambiance, the service and the food. Would definitely recommend!
Yummy comfort food, affordable prices! 10/10
Great Polish food! Love their schnitzel, and the plates are in generally pretty big
The server ( Lunch time, female) Was simply excellent. Lovely personality and very efficient) Service
Highly recommend
Classic Polish food. So good
Come and watch Polish families demolish some of the densest and tastiest food Poland has to offer. Youll have no choice but to nap after, be warned A great experience overall
Tried calling them on the number on their website and it said the rogers customer is not set up. How do u run a business without folks being able to call u?? R u even open for business??
First time there: Food was delicious, large portion size.Service was excellent, very pleasant waitress. Vegetarian options: Vegan options.
Delicious food, service was a little slow but servers were nice Vegetarian options: Lots of options Food : 5/5 |
amazing food and generous portions but definitely no service with a smile. the servers seemed irritated by our presence.
My first Polish food experience. Pork Schnitzel w/mushrooms and the cheese&potato perogies made quite an impression. Portion was generous and the atmosphere has that family vibe. Id love to come back and try different dishes
Amazing place!! The food is so delicious, the atmosphere is completely familiar, it s a great place to eat polish food. My favourite was the Goulash soup. And the prices are razonable. Food
Pleasantly surprised at our experience dining at Cafe Polonez. Food was yummy overall and service was good. We had the 1 person platter, herring (appetiser), white borscht and kompote juice. Very filling meal.
Amazing. Legit polish restaurant
Good Polish food. After almost two weeks of eating American cuisine, this place was a godsend. Nice staff speaking Polish will take care of the guests very well.
Great place with great food. Unfortunately that makes it really busy most of the time, and the atmosphere suffers from too many people talking over each other.
Polish food at its best !! When visiting Roncie ...come hungry ,and taste traditional Polish menu .
Came to you today with my two sons- now we have our favorite restaurant in this area!!!!! Thank you
The food was amazing. I ordered flaczki and it tasted homemade! The cheddar and potato perogi was so good I didnt even get a photo -- its already in my stomach!
Hidden treasure. Such amazing food.
The food was excellent, the service was great, we did not wait long to get our food, and we would definitely come back.
Great place to go experience polish cuisine. The pork schnitzel is delicious!
I wish I could give more stars. They accommodated a big group for my family with great food and great service. Thank you!!!
Amazing place with delicious food! Their portions are big and have a good price. Ribs and potato pancakes are highly recommended! Also, red soup (Ukrainian borsch) must taste!
Ive reviewed CP before and will always give it a 5-star review. Authentic, home cooking which never disappoints. Wide selection of options; pierogies, schnitzel, soup, bigos, cabbage rolls, fish, and more. Skip the franchise restaurants and come here, you wont be disappointed.
A good sausage is a good sausage is what I usually say so this didn t disappoint (even if it was a side dish). The platter for 2 fed 3 of us with a few add ons and for the most part, everything tasted great with plenty leftover!
Best Polish food ever. My grandmother was Polish and her food wasn t even close to as good as Cafe Polonez. The barszcz is outstanding.
This is a nice little restaurant. Service is good as well as food. It becomes noisy when crowded.
Just had my birthday dinner there with my husband and son. From the second we entered to the second we left the service was impeccable, the waitresses were very busy but they handled it like super stars! We drove all the way from a Grimsby as the food is absolutely amazing! Great job ladies!
One of the best restaurants in the city. Got the platter for one which was loaded. Plate was delicious and included Hunter s stew, pierogies, and schnitzel with mushrooms. Highly recommended to take anyone for their first Polish food experience!
This place has been a go-to for me anytime I want polish food. It is fantastic and everyone I bring here loves it. Everything on the menu is great and if you are unsure just ask. Being an empty stomach because there is lots of food!
A very nice and very busy down to earth Polosh place with what seems like lots of regulars. The cheese crepe for dessert was outstanding. Lots of Polish beers.
The best polish place in Toronto!
The food was really good! I would highly recommend the pork Schnitzel! Service isn t the best though, long and not super friendly. Vegetarian options: My partner had plenty vegetarian options to choose from
The Store was nice and clean. Staff are super kind and helpful with suggesting dishes. Goulash - super flavourful and the veggies were cooks just right Bigos (hunter stew)- soooo hardyyy. Loaded with cabbage and stewed meat and sauage Beet Soup with dumpling mushroom - Super comforting. The mushroom dumplings was cooked just right and the filling ate soo flavourful Pierogi - cheedar & potato - made in house you could taste the freshness and eaten with onions and sour cream perfect!
Been a while since been to Roncis and Polonaise. Took a friend who had never been and had authentic Polish food before. As always a great experience! Service was excellent as well as the atmosphere. Babcia would be pleased . LoL James M from Guelph
Food is stellar, service is terrific. Restaurant is clean. Drinks are cheap. If you like central/Eastern European food the options offered by Polonez are terrific.
Very much a family feel type of place. Food was great and large quantities. Our server was very friendly and kind. Thank you! Food
Authentic polish food and such a great and friendly staff! Definitely recommend to everyone craving a homey vibe
I love a good polish dish and polonez did not disappoint. I had the Hungarian pancakes and it was delicious. The service was also excellent my server sarah, bless her soul even with how busy the restaurant was she took care of us real well. Overall great experience I highly recommend you to try this restaurant
Ive been coming here for over 15 years. The service and food are excellent. A true Polish experience (coming from a Polish immigrant). The Polinez schnitzel is my go-to dish. All the soups are delicious, especially the white borscht and the tripe (my mother loves it). Also, they have very reasonably priced tasty wine by the half litre.
Quick service, good food!
Very Good Hostess/Server
