Highly recommend! The food was delicious. Service was top , very friendly and knowledgeable🤍 will be back again for sure .
Follow @bredgyeats for more food reviews and posts! Each grain in this risotto was cooked to a perfect al dente texture that absorbed the sweet, umami seafood wine broth, with a distinct but subtle aroma of saffron in each bite. The chunks of salmon, whitefish, squid, shrimp and mussels are a mix of heterogeneity that makes each bite different and exciting, which highlights the seafood's natural flavours.
I had the Atlantic oysters and the fish stew and both were excellent. The flavor of the broth in the stew was so delicious— it tasted really rich and complex, but didn’t overwhelm all of the fresh seafood
All the dishes we ordered was good. Especially the grilled squid. However the pastel de nata was served cold.
Food was amazing, I love the lobster ravioli🦞 the clam was delicious. Cocktails were great. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was amazing
First time here and first time having Portuguese cuisine. Great food, wine, appetizers and desert. Great waiting staff all speaking Portuguese so it's authentic. Definitely recommend this.
Decent Portuguese fare, nothing extraordinary. Fairly humble food dressed nicely. The risotto is watery but I think that's just a Portuguese thing at this point. Good flavor regardless!
I ordered the grilled squid as my main, and ordered a caramel flan (?) for dessert. The squid was perfectly seasoned, and the grilled vegetables were excellent. My only complaint is with respect to the greens beneath the squid - they were too salty for my tastes. The dessert was very solid - I had asked the server for a dessert that wasn't too sweet and wasn't too heavy, and I thought this dessert met those requirements. The overall atmosphere of this restaurant felt very classic. I noticed there were a lot of older patrons seated at the other tables. The service here is very good. Dishes came out promptly, tables were cleared within minutes, and I did not need to signal the waiter at all in order to receive the dessert menu or to ask for the bill.
Was difficult to enjoy the evening due to the rudeness of the host upon my arrival. Food was ok, nothing exceptional. Service was slow, but we did have a large party so it was understandable.
Came here to have a birthday dinner for my fiance. Called and left a message earlier in the day to make a reservation. Got a call back shortly after. No problem with reso + they asked if it was a special occasion and whether we were going to a play afterwards. It was a special occasion and we were going to a play afterwards. Details that were not lost. In other words, our dessert included a candle and a personalized happy birthday wish written on the plate! Our server was attentive (without being a distraction), professional, prompt, knowledgeable and even suggested we might be ordering too much (we ordered soup, appetizers, main and dessert). He was right and we appreciated the advice. We didnt know anything about Adega before going. We were very happy with our choice. They played a key role in making our celebratory night that much more special.
I want to preface this review by saying it s been over a year so I ve had time to sit on the experience; I m not one to leave negative reviews for service, but our dining experience was not a positive one 1) Made a reservation for 8:15 only to receive calls on the evening of (which I missed since I was attending an event) telling us to come ASAP since the kitchen closes at 8:30(?). Once we arrived and were seated, server insisted we order right away and all of us felt rushed / overwhelmed to decide in essentially 5 minutes. It s understandable for a kitchen to close early and staff to go home on time, but why offer reservations so close to closing time if you re unwilling to accommodate? P.S I just checked OpenTable and they offer time slots up to 8:45 PM(consider updating hours if the kitchen closes early) 2) At the end of the night, our server asked something along the lines of did you have a good experience and make sure your tip reflects it . I was flabbergasted because I ve never had someone be so direct and especially accounting for the event mentioned above. The redeeming factor was the food. The standouts were the grilled octopus, seafood risotto, short rib ravioli. The flavor and texture of the seafood risotto were spot on and the octopus was cooked perfectly.
Incredible food and service. One of my favourite spots in the city!
Excellent party room, if someones looking for a group session. Food is great, atmosphere is great! Solid spot.
Just wow! Delicious food, exceptional service! Thank you! Food
Excellent in every way. A place I keep going back to.
My go-to Portuguese restaurant. Great food and service
Amazing restaurant, food was incredible, servers were so amazing and kind and atmosphere was beautiful 10/10 restaurant!!
Enjoyed a quiet dinner, had an exceptional Cataplana and our wait staff was delightful.
First time here. Atmosphere was great, food was top notch and Demetri provided excellent service. Will definitely be back
Superb. We tried the three course lunch, and I sampled both the squid and peri peri chicken. This was a very good experience outdoors on a perfect day, and the service was beyond immaculate. The waiter really cares about the food and wine pairings.
First time visitors yesterday. This was one of the best supper experiences I have ever had! Deago (sp) was our server and he was outstanding! He was helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and wine selection. Very pleasant young man! Our cocktails, appetizers and mains came in a timely manner and were all outstanding. The chourico sausage, sardines and cheese boards were all so delicious. Two of us had the lobster ravioli and were blown away by the dish. So bountiful and delicious. Friends had the grilled squid with lemon, coriander and a garlic olive oil sauce sided with various roasted vegetables. Both were left in a state of bliss. I will remember this joint forever!
Very expensive for very simple dishes that you can barely relate to Portuguese cuisine.
Food tastes good but i would call it protégés inspired at best. Service was alright and the location of the restaurant was good but the outside seating looked uncomfortable and the interior was ok.
I was very satisfied with the sea bass. The taste was delicious.I will recommend to my family and friends
There wasn t anything I would change about our dinner here. Highly recommend the private room for a special occasion; the food, drink, service & atmosphere were all incredible.
Excellent food with great service
Steak was fantastic! Highly recommend
While the food was good, we got the bad surprise to discover afterward that in the bill was already included a 18% gratuity (and a $8 couvert charge) so when being prompted for a tip on the payment terminal you end up giving a tip twice! I wonder how this can be legal...
Great place! Good service, amazing food.
The food quality is great. I have got the steak! It was perfect
Great service, kinda fancy. The octopus was good but not mind-blowing. Cheaper than I expected. The lobster ravioli was better than the octopus IMO. Will probably come back here again sometime, great seafood
After ordering the food, it took them 30+ min to prepare just a soup which was supposed to be an appetizer that we could enjoy it while waiting for the main dish to be prepared it also took them ard 50 min after ordering to prepare our main dishes after we have urged our order Our next table had the same issue too cuz they both kept on looking at those waiters with a helpless smile btw no real service is really provided even they have sufficient staff working there it really took them some time to clear our dish after finishing the soup and we didnt even get a water refill during our whole meal (Throughout the whole meal, it was not too easy to find and reach out our waiter lol oh also, we have an oily dish provided at the start of the meal :) I was really disappointed and the food was just so so which didnt really worth the price Spend the money wisely and get something better my dear :)
One of our favorite restaurants in Toronto, thats been consistently delicious.. Especially when we yearn for the flavors of Portugal. Lovely neighborhood restaurant on leafy Elm St . White tablecloths, attentive waiters, good wine list. Fresh sea bass special was awesome! Also Recommend Cataplana fresh fish stew and lamb chops. We had appetizers, wine, dinner, dessert (pastel de nata), drinks. There is a Private room available for groups .downstairs.
Not bad
Delicious food , friendly waiters, great atmosphere
Excellent food and service ! With affordable prices. Dimitri was an excellent waiter, with lots of effort and fast service. Food
Came here for lunch with some colleagues from work, everyones food was amazing. The place is really nice and the service was great.
Decent food. For our appetizers, the grilled octopus (9/10) was great, but the porkbelly wasn t anything special (7/10). The salad with goat cheese was good but also nothing really special either and didn t feel worth it imo. We shared the fresh fish stew (for 2) between us and it was good (7.5/10) but too salty, it tasted good but was fairly one dimensional and lost its novely as you progressed. Compared to other restaurants in Toronto around this price range I would say in terms of value, it is slightly below average but that may just be a sample bias, if I was rating just off of the food I would say I would be willing try other items on the menu before giving a full verdict. However, while the food was good, the service was pretty subpar. The whole time our waiter sort of sounded like he was falling asleep while talking to us. A bit strange, but ok, maybe he is having a rough day. But as the night progressed, he barely showed up at all and it was incredibly difficult to get the attention of the staff (I didn t even see our waiter more than 2-3 times in 1.5hrs). I had to walk up to the front of the kitchen to tell the staff to bring me the bill , they said they would bring it and then 15-20min later still no one showed up! Had to walk to the other end of the restaurant to find the waiter and finally get the bill. I m sorry if this is harsh but when you pay at this level you also pay for a certain level of service (I don t need a personal butler), which was essentially nonexistent that night.
The food and wine were excellent. The waiter suggested a wine gave each of us a sample before serving us the wine. Each went for a different wine which was very good. We had the Salmon and Sea Bass both were very tasty and nicely presented. The service was very personal and the atmosphere very nice. They also have a private room for special occasions. It s a little expensive but worth it. Highly recommended Parking: Paid parking across the street
Adega has been in the Toronto scene serving delicious Portuguese cuisine for eternity and there is a reason for that, this place is just that great. Impecable white linen service and fresh delicious food that will delight anyone. We came here for lunch and that was an awesome decision. I highly recommend this restaurant nestled on Elm Street.
The atmosphere was quiet and elevated, and they had unusual warm lamps! :) Bread with olives and olive oil was an unusual starter but really delicious, especially the extra virgin olive oil. Our waiter was super nice but did not warn us that the bottled water goes for $8.5. This is not an issue, considering the restaurant is on the more pricey side, but it caught my partner and I a bit off guard.
Absolutely fabulous! Went down for an afternoon Jay game, stayed at the Chelsea and were luck enough to find a true hidden gem.
Great service, and we had some great dishes but some dishes had similar ingredients and were not of consistent quality/cooking. We would highly reccomend the shrimp bisque, octopus and pork belly and whole red snapper, however there should be some consideration into calling an item a signature dish and then serving an overcooked octopus for a main signature dish, which we had to send back. Also the mashed potatoes on the lamb could be improved and were average. Overall the atmosphere was great and we loved the booth cubby holes that gave you an intimate setting.
A nice place!
Great choices of seafood. Service was amazing! Staff was helpful.
If there were more stars I would give this place all. The service provided by Dimitri was exceptional. We went for dinner with a toddler and he was so helpful. He recommended almost all dishes we ordered and the recommendations were spot on. The steak and risotto entrées were tasty and the desserts just tied off the evening with a red bow. All other staff was super nice and helped with the toddlers mllk storage and bottle cleaning. Thank you Adega for a great evening.
We had an amazing experience. The food was a solid 5/5 and the atmosphere and staff were amazing. They also gave good recommendations which made it easier. Definitely recommend this place.
Loved this place!
The atmosphere was lovely. The food was very disappointing. We order the mixed seafood platter as an appetizer it said it feed 4-5, we were 4. One tiny piece of fresh cheese, 1 tiny squid, 5 of the smallest shrimp, two slices of chouricio, the sardines were so small it looked almost canned. and 1 tiny pickled salmon .impossible to feed 4-5 for the price of 55.00. Be aware not worth it. The crab ravioli was brutal with sautéed onions and other overcooked veggies the mushroom risotto was nasty as well, who puts diced carrots in their risotto. The 300.00 spent would have eaten much better elsewhere. Don t be fooled over priced for tiny portions.
Our server must have had a bad day but the food was absolutely excellent... We shared 5 apps and 2 meals for a group of 4 and they were all presented beautifully and impressed all our palates.
I had the best Portugese food here with my husband yesterday, their food are very tasty and I planned to visit here again on New Year Eve
Excellent food, excellent wine and absolutely excellent service from Ryan! We had a wonderful time having dinner here and Ryan was so pleasant and knowledgeable and really made our experience so great! Thank you!
Love the sea bream and grilled octopus! Excellent service!
Great! Loved the grill octopus app and saffron seafood risotto - would come back again.
It was okay. Service was slow and not the best, food was average. Definitely overpriced.
We booked the Terrace Room to celebrate a wedding and we could not be happier with the level of atmospheric, service, and food quality. We had to rebook due to the weather, and Marco was extremely gracious and accommodating. Ricardo and the other staff that provided service for us went absolutely above and beyond. They made everything absolutely perfect, and every one of our requests was not only met, but exceeded our expectations. We will definitely be coming back to Adega, not only for large events, but also to dine (because the food and drinks were amazing!).
Great restaurant and frindly management
Spent the eve of the new year dec 31 2022 here with the family. Love the squid dish, bread with olives, cheeses and green soup for appetizers, sea bass for main and steak. The green soup was a bit bland, we gave feedback to put more flavours in it for next time. We have been to Terceira and Sao Miguel and i think adding Fado singers to special nights will definitely bring one level up to this Portuguese restaurant.
We booked the Terrace room to celebrate a small wedding party. The night before, due to unforeseen circumstances, we had to cancel it. Marco was incredibly understanding and cancelled without charge and without commitment to rebook it. Luckily, we were able to have our dinner party a week later. The room was amazing, the service was impeccable. Ricardo and the rest of the staff were in all the details, the food was excellent. They decorated a table for our cake, and it looked professionally done! We had a unforgettable night, our guests were very happy and commenting they will book this place for their future celebrations. We dont have enough words to express our gratitude to Adega for their amazing service and kindness.
Just had the most lovely dinner here last night. I had seen some reviews mentioning Ryan, so I was very happy to have him as our server, he was wonderful! My favourite part of the whole experience was our table, it was a small secluded booth, perfect for a romantic anniversary dinner. The food was delicious, especially the grilled octopus. I also loved the trio of sorbets, they were incredibly flavourful and smooth. Ill look back on this dinner very fondly!
Amazing food! Any of there seafood dishes will not disappoint. Service is great the staff are very knowledgeable about their menu and provide a high end dining experience.
Disappointed with both the nonchalant & disingenuous service. Throughout our Canadian holiday trip we only patronised restaurants with at least a 4.5 star google review. Hence Adega was on our list. However this is the only restaurant we feel does not deserve more than 2 stars. Service was disinterested from the moment we walked in (we did have reservations) and dishes lackluster considering the up market prices charged. Food was also hardly Portugese. We ate so much better and for far less in all the other highly rated high end restaurants with friendly & warm service to boot. We still tipped 15% since it was the Christmas period but regret now.
This is an upscale restaurant at a more reasonable price point. It serves delicious food and has great service. The grilled octopus + pork belly was one of my favorite dishes ever, period. Dietary restrictions: Gluten sensitivity taken seriously and recommendations were given to avoid issues!
Service is amazing. Food is authentic. We love this place.
Get to try out Adega with the winterlicious menu. It s a really good experience with delicious food. Got the squid for main, really soft and with favours. The dessert menu looks like not surprising, but it actually taste really good. I ordered the crème caramel without expectation, but it really surprised me.
Great service, food and party room
Everything was great. Food was top notch! All the staffs were professional and friendly. Thank you for the amazing dining experience!
Great place for a business lunch. Staff were very attentive, food was delicious, and the intimate seating made for easy discussions.
Had a amazing dinner last night. Service was amazing, very attentive and professional. The grilled squid and octopus was perfectly cooked and tasted wonderful. One of the specials was the Rockfish, tasted amazing, buttery/flaky fish again cooked to perfection. And the beef ravioli was again cooked perfect and great flavors. 100% recommend this restaurant.
Great service and seafood. Nice selection of both food and drink, in a comfortable atmosphe. The chocolate mousse (on 10th Feb) could have been more chocolatey and less dense (it was almost clods of ganache). We did enjoy and would recommend the calde, seafood platter, cheese platter and more.
Incredible restaurant. Ask for server Ryan! Excellent service. The food was delicious and the portions were massive.
My wife and I went here for Valentine s Day. It was my first time there and I really enjoyed it. Our server Ryan was courteous, personable and professional. The food is impeccable and excellent portion size at reasonable prices. I hope to come here again soon!
We had a wonderful birthday surprise for a group of 16. The reservation was located downstairs in their wine cellar room with a long table. Our server Ryan was great, very friendly and entertaining. Adega is known for their seafood; I was skeptical about that statement because how good could seafood really be? But I gave it a try anyway and I did not regret it! I never had such tasty grilled squid before and their grilled sardine appetizer was also surprisingly delicious. Yummy desserts but portions could be bigger. This place has a romantic setting with dim lights - great for date night. Relatively clean washrooms and roadside paid parking. I definitely recommend giving their Winterlicious menu a try.
Food was sensational but wished the service was a bit better, waiter was more worried about other tables than us
Excellent experience
Great spot and food is delicious!
One of my top 5 favourite restaurants in the city and also my parents favourite when they come in town to visit. Service is impeccable and very rare at this level. Food is always on point. Portions are slightly larger than usual at this scale so you will go home full which is also refreshing for 5 star restaurants.
We had a wonderful dinner at Adega s as part of a surprise birthday party. The service and food were excellent.
Me and my partner ate here last night for our two year anniversary. Everything tasted amazing, down to the lettuce on our appetizer. I got the saffron seafood risotto; it was super fresh and the seasoning complimented and highlighted the fish very well. My partner had the braised beef ravioli which i stole more than a few bites of. Ryan is very memorable, and we felt so lucky he was the one to help us on such a big day. He paired our wines perfectly to our main entrees, he was very knowledgeable about the restaurant, food, and drinks. Throughout the night he was helpful, attentive, full of energy, and a generally cool person. We would go back for the food and for Ryan.
I wanted to try this restaurant and it said they were open until 9:30pm. We got there at 8:30pm and the door was locked with people inside eating and the server came to the door and told us they were closed for the night. We would have thought that if you advertise you are open until a time that is the time you take seating until.
Loved the ambience and food. Saffron seafood risotto is very tasty. Very good quality seafood
I have done mainly private events here as they have a good space for a group of up to 40 ppl. upstairs. Servers are always so helpful.
Excellent place!
We are not eating meat for Lent, but fish is fine. So I chose Adega for their selection and I was not disappointed! My son had the tiger shrimp, my other son had the risotto - my wife had sea bream and I had the fish stew - my in-laws were with us as well and had the cod and took some home. Oh dessert was pretty darn good too - all fantastic. Our waitress was ok, just kept trying to upsell and make it seam like she was doing us a favour for simple things... Anyways - we had a wonderful relaxed delicious time - would be a 5 if the waitress had told me that 18% was already on my bill as I had 6 people in my party, but instead she just handed me the machine - I asked my son to check the bill as I didnt have my glasses. So I did not top up the 18% and after that, she disappeared. When I reserved I also told them its my wifes birthday and they said they would make it special, but there was nothing - btw we had such a good evening that was a minor issue - Long story short - I would absolutely visit again - and with better service they are a 5 star. Thanks Parking: There is parking underground across the street- not expensive after 6 $10 Wheelchair accessibility: Bathrooms are downstairs - I dont think they are very accessible
I booked this restaurant for a medium sized group in November 2022. I was asked to make a $200 deposit which I did. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend the dinner however I was assured that the deposit would be put toward the final bill. When my colleague who paid the bill submitted her receipt I realized the deposit was not applied. I have tried to contact the restaurant several time by phone and email to rectify the over payment and I have yet to hear back from them. Really unfortunate because the group enjoyed the food but the service thus far as been very disappointing. Now the service has left a bad taste.
We had dinner here this evening. The cataplana and Linguine with Tiger shrimp were great and the service was exceptional. We highly recommend Adega.
Amazing service and atmosphere for a grand dinner with love. The food is great but slightly on the pricey side.
The food and drinks were delicious and staff was attentive and friendly. We got the chouriço and grilled sardines as appetizers and they were so good but pricey ($18 each). Our mains were the grilled octopus (delicious and generous) and the cataplana/fish stew which was very good but we found to be very small portion especially for $45. Also, I dont like that the prices at lunch are different then dinner for the same dish. We went a few days ago. It was warm out and i presume they didnt have AC because we felt it to be uncomfortably hot at times during dinner. Otherwise very positive experience.
Food and service were amazing! Highly recommend.
My wife and I ate here during a weekend trip to Toronto and Im glad we did. Easily our best food in Toronto and Fernando was a great waiter. Instead of getting two meals we shared the Petisco Platter and then shared with fish stew. We added some bread and olives and of course some nice wine. Really lovely evening!
Great meal and fantastic service, well be back.
Very bad communication service hangs up the phone when order I will never come back to this please ever again
Good food and service.
Excellent gem of a restaurant tucked away on Elm St. Authentic excellent Italian food. Mushroom Risotto was perfectuon. Service was impeccable! They even have a private dining room in the cellar for private functions. Cant recommend enough.
My wife and I had dinner at Adega a few days ago. We were in the city for our anniversary and I had a craving for seafood. We decided this might be a good spot to satisfy that and we were correct. We had the octopus pork belly appetizer which was delicious. I have had octopus before and this was a really good use of it. My wife didnt fancy the pork belly but the octopus was top notch I had the grilled squid for my entré and it was beautiful! I mean fantastic, the balance of flavor was perfect and the squid was cook just right. My wife had the lamb special which was also excellent. The ambiance is a fine dining experience with very quite atmosphere, nice place for an intimate dinner. Service was very good, very old school professional waiter. Great place and will be returning if we have the opportunity!
Went here for my wife s birthday, and the service was fantastic and the atmosphere equally so. First time having this kind of cuisine, and while I m personally not the biggest fan I can say the quality and preparation looks spectacular, so it s probably just a personal taste thing.
Great food and service left happy and full. Definitely going back especially for the calamari and the Cataplana!
Top notch place, fresh seafood, world class cuisine, and amazing service highly recommend ! Also our waiter Ryan was fantastic.
Simply outstanding. The food, the service, and the atmosphere are some of the best I have ever experienced
Great food. Table service was good, but the kitchen was slow preparing the food. The atmosphere, and the maitre d, was too posh for my liking.
We are going to Portugal in October of 2023, so we decided we wanted to try this restaurant to sample some of the foods we would be enjoying. If the Portuguese food is anything like Adegas, then we will have wonderful experiences! The service, atmosphere, & food, was wonderful! If we had time, we would definitely eat there again!
Refuse to serve the client because 5min later for the booking (booking time 1:30 arrive at 1:35), No Grace period time(15min) as promised on open table at all! Rude Hang off client call!!! We called at 1:05 to notice may running late. Call back right way after been hang off, But No one answer the call between in half hour (called four times)! Never experience this rude service! Not recommended!!!
Adega has always been one of my favourite restaurants. We came here for summerlicious and the selection was great. Our server Lisa-Marie was fantastic and gave us a great recommendation on our wine since Im not familiar with Portuguese wines.
Went for summerlicious. Had nearly the entire menu. Some standout dishes were the beef carpaccio, roasted lamb, grilled squid, and the mixed sorbet which had such a wonderful raspberry flavour.
Excellent. I had the cod special and it was absolutely delicious. I dont think Ive ever had a more perfectly cooked piece fish anywhere. Poached pear desert was also delicious. Very good attentive service.
It s a niece restaurant and there are no complaints with the food but they only served the preset menu that I didn t like . The preset menu was due to the food festival in Toronto. However when I booked online it didn t specify it was only serving preset menu . I didn t book other restaurants because they disclosed preset menu only. I wanted options.
Excellent food and services!
Nice atmosphere, very polite server, food delivered promptly and was delicious. My only comment was that they were offering only preset menu with limited choices, and I was really hoping for more authentic Portuguese dishes, not the typical salmon or chicken dish. The squid was great, but it would have been nice to have more original fish. It was too pricy for the selection in my opinion.
Pretty good
Everything was perfect! Servers were so nice and went above and beyond. The food is exquisite! It was a wonderful experience !
Not a fan of paying hundreds of dollars for a meal and getting rushed. Basically saying, couldn t really enjoy it as we were constantly bothered and rushed. Servers taking your plates when there s still some food left, even though we asked to keep it. For an empty restaurant, it felt rude. Made us felt unwanted. Not like anyone was waiting. Definitely did not remind me of the azores, where I thought the ppl there were probably the nicest bunch I met in any part of the world I ever visited.
My name is William and you got 5 stars from me for the service and the food!
Visited this place back in 2022 Nov and haven t got time to write review about this place. But even after so long, what stays on my memory is the food is overpriced and not even tasty. The worst dish of the night is the soup (and we ordered two because we were sharing among 4 people). The soup is very watery and so blend. We only tasted a little and just send it back. But the sever didn t ask what happened. The best dish is the sorbet We did try a bit of everything but really not enjoying the food there. Not sure why our experience is a lot worse than other reviews on google. Wine selection os not bad and they are knowledgeable in it.
Magnificent Fine Dining !!!
Very boring food . The service was excellent. I went for a really good meal though.
Great food, great experience, and wonderful staff.
My wife and I had the chefs menu. The carrot soup was savory with a hint of chili pepper. We ate grilled squid and sautéed salmon, both of which were perfectly cooked, and the side vegetables were very rich in the sweet and sour flavor of apricots. The dessert cream caramel was also the best balance with fruits and sauce.
I wasnt expecting much, but food and service was good, and its a quiet place so it would be a good choice if someone want somewhere calm.
The food was fantastic! The atmosphere was great. I definitely recommend it for someone looking for a great Portuguese eatery in town!
Excellent Portuguese dinner- I had piri-piri chicken. Nicely spiced, very tender and juicy. My friend has squid and said it was delicious. The service was attentive and not overbearing. The ambiance is quite pleasant. We will go again.. Thanks!
Food is definitely overpriced. They already included 18% tips in the bill but they didn t notice us and we added another 15%. Service is below average. You can definitely easily find another better Portugal restaurant in Toronto.
We enjoyed our time at Adega specifically because of our server DeMarco but unfortunately I feel like the food is lacking some finesse and flavour. Our highlights were definitely the service and the grilled sardines. Otherwise, my grilled squid was very greasy and the garlic on it tasted burnt, the food tastes like it should be 10-20% cheaper, we overall enjoyed our experience but will probably not come back.
Wonderful restaurant with great service. The food was excellent. Great atmosphere
Soooo delicious!
Came on a date night and was pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem in the heart of downtown. Service was amazing! Staff was helpful choosing menu items that were authentic, met our preferences and were safe for dietary restrictions (gluten-free). Would highly recommend! Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free
Good but not great. Lots of potential, but falls slightly short. Staff were good, for was good albeit a bit underwhelming. Overall, decent just not memorable.
Lovely setting, excellent service (from all staff - kudos to the swift and friendly support servers) however the grilled squid and vegetable purée soup were disappointingly bland. Gilled whole sea bass was delectable. Vegetarian choices are scant, but I suppose that s to be expected at a Portuguese resto (?) Overall this place is hugely overpriced ($20 for a plate of arugula, a couple of figs and smattering of goat cheese. $8 for bread -two selections but one being dense and inedible- and some oil cured olives. And careful - they will offer it, but it s not on the house.). So if you have money to burn, check it out. It won t wow you, but you ll likely leave feeling content. Dimitri was charming and efficient.
A really fabulous seafood restaurant really great service our server Dimitri was outstanding. He gave us time to select our drinks, order our appetizers, main courses etc. The seafood was so fresh and tasty. I usually go to their other restaurants Chiado and Salt all highly recommended. Perfect for a date night, with friends or a special celebration.
Good quality, non pretentious Portuguese restaurant. Great seafood and steak options.
Every meal served was very very good. The flavors and presentation were fantastic. The chicken breast was amazingly delicious, sorbet was so delicious. Everyone loved what they ordered. The lamb, salmon and steak, and grilled squid were also delicious. Service was also good.
Went for our anniversary and it was perfect. Great service and excellent food we will be back
Food here was tasty, but not extraordinary. I feel like for what you pay, the dishes were a bit on the blander/simpler side - there was nothing that really stood out to me. The restaurant itself was nice and the service was great, though! It s a nice place to have dinner with friends or go on a date.
The server was very friendly. We had the caprese salad, which was very good, and two of the fresh fish dishes. The monk fish was alright, but the other fish was amazing. The washrooms were not on par with other restaurants this level. But overall the experience was great.
Good food, great service. Server was very knowledgeable and kind.
Great food and service!
As a Portuguese my self I can truly say this was a very good restaurant! Excellent food and superb service! We had Tiago as our waitress and he made us feel like home! We (me and my husband) simply loved and we had a very good evening in Adega Restaurant. I will definitely come back and recommend! Food
If you like seafood and you are looking for a place where the staff is professional and know exactly what they are doing, this is a place for you.
We loved everything about our meal. First, the ambience: located on a beautiful pedestrian street, inside it is a touch of old Europe: nice decor, perfect lighting, perfect for a romantic dinner. Second, the food was really good: fresh salad, the fish and octopus with veggies and potatoes were really good. Servers struck the right balance. We will definitely come back.
Scam alert- be cautious about extra chargers for water. This restaurant ruined my birthday by pouring $70 worth of mineral water we never asked for. In addition to requiring our large group to have a set menu which we previously discussed and then refusing to allow us to split payments, When that was the entire point. We went on a Monday and it was not busy. I asked them before hand to put a few bottles of wine on a separate tab to make things easy and they still brought me one bill at the end. Over all food was ok, small portions and not cheap. Will not be returning to say the least.
Great food and atmosphere.
Friendly service, but the food was not worth the prix fixe menu price. Flavorful sardine starter followed by bland tiger prawn dish and one-texture meringue dessert.
We went on summerlicious menu and would rate 5 stars. The food is very delicious, everything done right , my favorite would be the dessert . The white saffron cake is so good. Also Crème Brûlée Pudding was very nice too. Atmosphere is ambient especially to request to sit in the small cave room. We adored the experiences .
It was my first time going to a restaurant where theres a dress code ! It was a good experience, good food, ambience is likeable as well. I liked the waiters behavior and their constant keeping in check of their customers. I would recommend this place for first timers!
Parking: Parking is scarce around this area, and expensive if you find any.
Ive been a regular customer for years and think their food and service are both top notch. I took a star off since my recent summerlicious visit was disappointing; Im used to how their portions are since Im a regular customer as I mentioned, so I was surprised to see that they serve markedly smaller portions during summerlicious. Their (heavenly) creme caramel, for example, was a cartoonishly small diamond barely visible in the middle of the large plate they serve it in (its usually a small slice)! And the sardine starter I had (which I didnt need but had to get since I couldnt order a la carte during summerlicious) was also laughably tiny, as was the main course which was about half its usual size. I usually pay around $60 for main course, dessert and drinks and I leave full; I paid $80 for the tiny starter, the half-size main course, the tiny dessert and drinks in my summerlicious visit and I left hungry! Unacceptable... If I didnt know that theyre normally much better in terms of portion size, this wouldve been a 2 star review. Needless to say, Ill avoid going to Adega during summerlicious in the future.
Been here a few times. Excellent food. Excellent service. Whats not to like, right?
Adega is a very appealing & clean restaurant. However the dishes were, in our experience, lackluster. We were left wanting more from both our culinary experience & the service from the staff.
That food tasted good. But very long waiting times for the food to arrive. And very expensive.
Great food and wonderful wait staff
Our server, Ryan, was the best! Friendly, knowledgeable, and reat service! The food was cooked to perfection. The wine Ryan recommended paired so well with our dinners. Im sold! This is my new go-to when I visit Toronto.
Best meal I have had in years!!! Tried the Monk Fish special & poached pear for dessert
Absolutely delicious! The seafood was so moist and cooked perfectly!
Casual lunch on the patio our server was delightful, prepared and charismatic. Food was simple and flavourful. Will definitely be back for dinner. Thank you!
I ve been to Adega twice and their service has been immaculate both times. They really know how to make you feel welcome in their beautiful and cozy Portuguese supper place. The saffron seafood risotto was the winning dish for me. I can undoubtedly order it each time I m there. Excellent flavours.
Great food with great atmosphere and perfect service
Very nice restaurant with good food and the best service from the waiter Ryan. He is very warm with a charming voice, makes us feel very special, highly recommended, will definitely go back again with more friends.
Had a small dinner and a few drinks here on a weekday night. It was moderately busy. I have also been here for summerlicious for the set course meal. Both times have been a positive experience. Location is very convenient and is along a strip of restaurants.
Very friendly staff that was great and welcoming. The food was good if on the pricier side. Location is not wheelchair accessible, with many steep steps and narrow doors to enter the building.
Food was incredibly fresh, atmosphere cozy & intimate, service was amazing. Our server Ryan was attentive, personable & intuitive. Well DEFINITELY be back.
The staff, the service, the ambiance, the food, .. Ive dined across the globe and few compare to this experience!!
Excellent, just excellent. This restaurant gives such well-crafted dishes that will make your stomach sing. I couldnt take any photos because I was so enamoured by the quality and flavour of their dishes. I had the potato and leak soup, the sea bream fillet, and the white chocolate dessert. The sea bream fillet and white chocolate dessert were dishes I could have every day. On top of that, the service was excellent and the atmosphere contributed to an all around enjoyable experience.
I haven t been to Adega in years but it is definitely one of my favourite seafood and Portuguese restaurants in Toronto! What I love most about this restaurant is that the staff are absolutely exceptional not to mention that the food is delicious. Everyone from the host to our wait stuff and especially Ryan our waiter tonight were so knowledgeable, hospitable and accommodating. I m so thrilled that this place is thriving even after the last few years that restaurants have been struggling. If you haven t been here it is definitely a hidden gem but also a long-standing institution in Toronto with some of the most authentic and exceptional Portugese food. We enjoyed the delicious and plentiful platter and tonight s special app the avocado and tomato salad which were so robust with flavour! I myself have been looking forward to enjoying this cataplan fish stew as I have fond memories of coming here often and enjoying it especially on a cold rainy day like today. The seafood risotto looked beautiful as well! The cocktail menu and wine menu is reflective of old school European bistros with many great wines to select from. Lastly, check out this beautiful cloud of meringue enrobed in caramel! So heavenly! I will definitely have to come back again soon! Thank you again to the staff for this incredible experience!
Food was okay but service was good. Picked the place cuz it s seafood signature and high Google maps review. Recommended by the staff that the fresh fish and octopus were the best. But food was disappointed unfortunately. Octopus was a bit try, though we had stressed while placing our order that we were fans of octopus, but prefer juicy, definitely not dry. Seabass was all right. They only have Portuguese red wine. Tried a dry one recommended by the staff. It s okay..
Had this place recommended to us recently, and decided to give it a try. Good wine list, several good choices available. The food was tasty and served hot and well prepared. Staff was attentive and always nearby to fill our glasses. This is a must try!
A little underwhelming. The food was just okay- very over priced for what you are getting. The service was great! Will probably not return as I ve had very similar if not better Portuguese food for 1/5th of the price. We spent just under $700 with tip and tax for 5 ppl. (2 bottles of wine, 4 appetizers, 5 mains and 3 desserts)
Best Portuguese restaurant in downtown core, period.
Had the Rock fish lunch special and it was delicious!
The food was spectacular and the atmosphere is very charming! Lots of fantastic seafood options and very nice gluten free options. Will definitely be back! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
Food was amazing service was equally great. If you want a great dining experience check them out. My server was also Portuguese, we had a great time talking to him as it is a place we are looking to travel to.
Their seafood stew is one of my favourites!
Lisa and Ryan were both amazing! The service was fantastic and the food was delicious!
FRESH FISH IN TORONTO?! WHAT. Ryan was an absolute legend. The chef is killer. Honorable mention goes to Lisa
Friendly and courteous servers I would definitely recommend! Parking: Green Pea, right across
Really enjoyed my experience here. I was in town for meetings and found this restaurant randomly on Google Maps. Took a co-worker that was visiting from Europe and we both really enjoyed the food and service. The venue is beautiful and quiet. The food and service were both excellent. I d say it s a $$$ experience for an app, main, and glass of wine.
Delicious food, excellent service. Highly recommended
Wow what service and nice seafood! Highly recommend for any event!
Terrific service ! Just wow d by how welcoming and professional the staff are. Amazing choices of seafood. The butterflied sardine appetizer pairs well w the bread. In season was the sea bass, and it was cooked to perfection. Don t need to speak on the squid because it s what they re known for. Definitely recommend this fine dining Portuguese experience!
Five Stars for this well run little shop, high quality meal. The lovely Italian man running the front of house certainly know his business. Ravioli was tremendous today. We dinned in a hurry and they met our needs for quick food. Unfortunately, I didnt take any pics, they were presented so beautifully.
Great service- Ricardo was wonderful and chose a great wine for us. All the food was great, from soup to apps to mains. Killer deserts. Really lovely intimate place to sit with friends and enjoy your conversation. Also to the regular nearby who secretly settled our bill. Thank you! Happy holidays and all the best! Thank you for making our end of year work dinner even more memorable.
