1560 Dundas St W, Toronto, ON M6K 1T8, Canada
Informal outpost serving Portuguese offerings, as well as wines, beers & cocktails.
I placed an order for an office party and I am very happy with the quality of the food and the service! The food was tasty and hot, the delivery came even earlier than expected. The price was also very reasonable for this amount of food! Would definitely recommend them! Thank you team 😊
This place is so good! My first time being here which gave me a taste of old school Portuguese food to which I love. I went here the other day and was not disappointed. They had great service, great prices most of all and a beautiful lady serving me, can't go wrong! Can't wait to experience more dishes from this place as if you have a love for Portuguese cuisine, there's no better place and to try this as you will not be disappointed!🙌🏼💯😘
Gotta love that Piri Piri chicken! Flavourful and tasty! Good, quality food with great service. I’d do it again and again. Worth every bite.
Pork and steak was very burnt. Calamari was horrible and couldn’t eat it. Rice was quite dry. The only upside was our waitress was nice.
I might have come on the wrong day because the restaurant smelled strongly of mold. It was empty except for us, and the waitress was rude the entire time. Additionally, there was a disturbingly loud noise coming from the front kitchen. The floor was also sticky. Totally different from the reviews and photos shared. The food was not good as well. Nothing fresh or tasty. I definitely don't recommend this restaurant. It's better to have frozen food.
Literally the worse location you’d ever want to go too. They cooked my food too much, when I mentioned it they had told me “what do you want me to do” instead of making it fair maybe offering a discount or giving half back…. They just expect me to deal with it? And ask me what they want me to do? Well you tell me what you want to do. Like.. HELLO. Btw I made the order the day before so you’d think they’d actually make it with heart. Instead they burn my food make it dry and ask me what they’d like me to do for their mistake. So yes I’m walking out with my refund.
Being the foodie of the group, It was up to me to choose a restaurant for dinner before seeing a show. Bairrada Churrasqueira is located right across the street from our destination and I've been to their College Street location before so it seemed like a good choice. It was! Most of our group of ten weren't very familiar with Portuguese cuisine, other than the popular grilled chicken. While four of us opted for the chicken, five chose seafood, and I opted for a steak, listed as one of the house specialties. I had a chance to taste the chicken and it was very good, as good as I remembered. The seasoning and cook was spot on. I also tried the Bacalhau (Codfish) and it was very good. It was a large portion, more than what my friend could eat, so enough for sharing. Although a tad salty (expected), this was very tasty. A few of us tasted this and all agreed, Yummy! The Garoupa (Grouper Steak) was huge, taking up most of the space on the plate. It looked really good. It must have been because my friend wouldn't share! The Robalo (Sea Bass) was also beautifully presented as a whole fish and looked delicious! I heard it was very good. The Lulas Grelhadas (Grilled Calamari) looked really good but my friend said it was just okay. He didn't elaborate but he finished it so it must have been good, maybe not as spectacular as he had expected. I had the Bife a Casa (House Steak), listed as one of the house specialties. While it wasn't bad, it wasn't what I expected it to be. I was looking forward to a nice juicy medium-rare grilled steak with fries. What I got was a steak in a dish, smothered with gravy, a fried egg, and completely covered with potato chips. Now I know. All the dishes were attractively presented. The seafood portions were on the larger side, while the chicken was average sized. There's a steam table at the front counter for takeout orders and a nice dining area at the back of the space. Pricing represented a good value and the service was very good. We all left happy and will return.
Solid Portuguese food at a good price, but some service issues. Food was great, large portions and the bread and red sauce app was really good. Drinks are cheap. The place was empty when we went, with just one server. They were out of a bunch of menu items, and one of our steaks was accidentally cooked well done instead of rare, but the waitress was sympathetic and sorted everything out. We even got free espresso once they fixed the machine!
Best one was at Mississauga
Never disappointed when i eat here , had a great experience as always .
This used to be one of the best Portuguese spots in the city unfortunately it has consistently declined in quality over the years
Very delicious !!
Food is amazing and they played my daughters song Eu Mereço - Chantel Nunes! Very good people highly recommend coming here !
Overall the food was fresh like the filets of fish and the rice. However the bacalhau a Braz was not what I expected , potatoes as well as the onions were Not cooked and found some Cod fish bones in it, and from the looks of it they did not use Olive oil. Very disappointed with this dish.
* burning and dry chicken *vegetables wasnt fresh *chicken was burning and dry.
Please include more veggies on the menu, excellent Portuguese chorizo, highly recommend.
Very good
Best bbq chicken in the GTA and superb customer service
One of the best bbq chicken around. Always keep a bottle of their sauce in my fridge
Thank you for being punctual. Our order of 20 chickens and rice. All very good. Good job. . Sofia & Filipe.
This place was my No. 1 spot after moving to Toronto in 2018, with huge portions at reasonable prices. The chicken and bitoque (egg over steak) were excellent. But food quality has dropped noticeably, their same desserts are available for significantly cheaper at area bakeries and now that I no longer live in the area its difficult to justify eating there versus picking up food from other eateries on Dundas/College W. Hope this place bounces back as it was an elite spot three or four years ago.
Not the same as before. Notvupdated price on the menu, ans the hot food seemed old and overcooked. Not coming back
Great customer service! Didnt have food reserved on a busy day and they gave me my order. Good planning on by the staff. Food was great as well! Perfect location as well as it is beside a bakery.
On vacation and has looked forward to trying Portuguese food. We were very disappointed. Very long wait to be given menus, over 15 min, although staff were walking past with them in their hands. Said excuse me several times but no one seemed to hear. Ordered pear cider& received apple. Asked bar tender if they had pear and he asked if I was seated, there is no standup bar so not sure where he thought I was coming from. Told me I needed to wait for my waiter to check. What?, he s the bartender. The waiter saw me but turned his back to fill bread baskets. Final the Bartender looked in the cooler door at his knee to tell me that s all they had. Food was bland, chicken salty, rice had chunks of hard rice which I d originally thought were small chicken bones and removed them from my mouth. My friend had mushroom veal and the veal was not tender & over cooked with canned mushrooms. Waiter did not return to offer a second drink. Left very disappointed. Ate at Zito Zito in Little Italy last night and it was amazing.
Great chicken and piri piri sauce
Nice place , good food, variety food every day, so clean place , simpatic peoples
Great prices. Huge portions. Authentic Portuguese cuisine. I really enjoyed the goat and chicken.
Long time to attend the client, very slow service.
Good food. Excellent attention and nice environment
The food is pretty good but doesn t taste as juicy as the Bairrada at College. Once in a while I even walk the extra mile to go to the one at College because of that. But if you plan to go to this one, you won t be disappointed either, I never dined in so I can t say much about how clean they are, but I have been there countless times for takeout and on that department, there s nothing I can say too bad about that. I they do seem pretty unorganized when they talk on the phone though, they automatically assume you speak Portuguese, I speak fluent Portuguese but what if I didn t? It might be a Portuguese place but it is still a country that speaks English so for the sake of people who don t speak Portuguese, they should answer the phone in English. Also, in general when you ask them something over the phone; they basically just tell you to go there and look for yourself instead of answering a simple question.
Very good food
Love this place, everything on the menu is Delicious, with massive servings, the Portuguese hot sauce is YummY and the lovely lady who works there is Super Nice Ive been a regular since they opened years ago so I highly recommend 5 stars for sure
Good restaurant!
Hit or miss. Sometimes the chicken is way too dry. Its not a rotisserie as the chicken remains stationery while cooking. Be wary of burnt meat on the chicken. Ask to remove it or give you a new piece. Be wary of their daily dishes too as everything seems to have too much of the potatoes to compensate for less protein. Think to ask before you buy. Watch them pack it. I bought a mixed fish and mussels dish one night and took home 2 cups of potatoe a few pieces of fish and NO MUSSELS. Very sad day. I had to throw away 2/3rds of the food. I had not paid attention as the food looked like fish and mussels not a potatoe stew. My bet is its best to walk over to College Street and go to that location. Vala a pena.
Getting takeout here during COVID19. Staff are not wearing masks. Plastic partitions and hand sanitizer at register. 6 people congregating inside at the bar in close proximity. 2-5 customers waiting inside for takeout at close proximity without masks.
Very good overall both food and service. Nice shaded back patio plenty of room and distancing. Suggest you book during busy hours. Servers were very nice; checked up on us 2-3 times for a 1.5 hr meal. Did have to request staples like water and dessert.
Very good service and amazing cook.
VERY GOOD FOOD
Good portion size and friendly staff :) The goat curry was very flavourful. They didnt charge us for an item and when we asked about it they told it it was for free since we had a longer wait. Super friendly!
Excellent dishes for a fair price. The hospitality and attention of the waitress Theresa creates a very warm atmosphere. I strongly recommend that place.
Good service and clean restaurant. But chicken breast was too salty and dry. Rice was dry too
The codfish was burnt black, like eating charcoal, and saltier than the sea. Couldnt eat any of it. Calamari was not cooked properly either. The chips on the house steak were soggy. Even the steak itself (we ordered medium rare) was burnt to a crisp. Never going back again.
Excellent food. Special shout out to Tatiana that made the simple moment become a special moment due to her excellent work. Keep up the good work Tatiana!!
I love this chickent and the calamari!
Amazing food for really cheap prices!! Had a whole roasted chicken and rice and tiger shrimp. All for 40$ inclduing tax!! So good would highly recommend. Caution: if ordering off Foodora they charge higher prices on every dish including a delivery fee than if u order at the restaurant.
Great service and food!!!
great food
Excellent food!
The food is amazing. The service is always friendly. And one of the best places you get such big portions of food. Great bang for your buck! Everything on the menu is delicious!
Great cod dinner and cod sandwich. Good portion sizes and value too.
Great chicken.
Food was delicious and n EXCELLENT customer service, Ill return to this place definitely!
I am here for the sauce. My favourite!!
Amazing Grilled Sea Bass for under $20.00
Love their soups.
All beefs were top!! Teresa made such a good first impression of the place, food and service for me and family.
Always tasty,always good value.
Delicious food, amazing portions, friendly staff!! Could not recommend enough
Great food and amazing staff!
Sad little spot. Food is average. Does not have that signature grill flavor of great Portuguese. Good value.
Was ALRIGHT at best
Great taste, good price. The quail has a great flavor. The waitresses are so kindly!
Good food, the dine in restaurant wasnt very busy while I was there on the Monday but definitely left satisfied.
Great food and excellant service!!
Amazing food great price, portions are big
Great place to get quick and delicious Portuguese food. The food is always so fresh and the portions are quite big for the price you pay. The chicken is my favourite- its always so moist and flavourful.
Taste of Portugal
Always delicious and good service. I recommend the bif a casa. Yummyyyyy
Really nice place. Not very expensive for really good quality food.
Extremely disappointed in my last visit. The chicken was poorly cooked. The hot sauce was congealed, and the rice and potatoes were under cooked. For Portuguese food in the area, this was of poor quality for the amount paid and what is expected of a Portuguese restaurant.
Some of the best Portuguese chicken in little Portugal. Highly recommended
Chicken is awesome and love the hot sauce!!
One of the best in Toronto.
Very Nice service , good food and large portions for hungry kids!
Awesome food...great prices...fresh! Big portions...Made just for you! Why spend more at a restaurant?
Very good service and food
I absolutely love the food here. Its great if you want something quick. Amazing service from the ladies in the front as well.
Nice Portuguese food. Reasonable pricing.
Very consist with its food. Never a bad experience
Can be very hit and miss on the take out...
Nice, clean, casual atmosphere, authentic Portuguese food, reasonably price and friendly staff. Try the Caldo Verde soup, Saturdays - its the best!
Service too long and food not that great.
Served by Renata and I can say that everything was 5 stars
l love the chicken and their fries is much better than Aloette.
Not a fancy date night place but very good food.
Large portion. Relaxing environment. Good price for the quality and the quantity of the food. Full bar but camnot make drinks that are not on the menu
Large quantity for a decent price. Had a group of 7 and everyone enjoyed their food. The Amsterdam ale was 5$ pint which is a great price for beer. I had the suckling pig on the menu and the rice and potatoes were phenomenal. The flaming sausages in moonshine gave us quite a show and was overall a great experience. Highly recommend to others
Delicious food, big portions for a good $, service could improve but the place is clean and cozy, definitely Ill back.
Fantastic! Greeted with old world hospitality, huge food portions with tremendous taste and good beer and wine list. Also,if there is still great coffee and pastries. A excellenent go to place for lunch, dinner or just coffee and desert.
You eat well, varied offers and quality
Fast service good food affordable prices
Had the opportunity to try the chicken, potatoes, and rice during the Dundas St. West Street Festival and it was super tasty! Price was reasonable and the chicken was bbqd well. The potatoes were also nice and saucy and the highlight of the meal. Good spot for some grilled Portuguese-style chicken and rice on Dundas St. W.
Great friendly, quick service.. food was amazing.
Fantastic food. Came in at odd hours and tried for of the starred items on the menu and everyone was happy. Great value. The restaurant has another location on College Street with a big patio.
Good food and great service.
Good and healthy Portuguese restaurant. They have a very beautiful patio during the summer.
Delicious food. It saved me in Canada when I wanted to eat rice and beans!
Food no longer excellent, just barely ok now, and prices keep going up. No longer my go to place. Too bad, was one best cheap Portuguese food places.
Fabulous
Lots of prepared food. Prices are mostly around $10 for a meal. I asked for chicken dinner with white meat and could choose what 2 sides I wanted. Ended up with leg and thigh and 2 sides I didnt get to choose. Food was good and filling. Id go back, but be more mindful of what they are putting in my order.
Got a chicken sandwich a couple months ago, and there were shards of bones in it. When you order a whole chicken, they hack it up like theyre having some kind of PTSD flashback. The tomato/cucumber salad is 90% tasteless tomatoes with huge slices of raw onion... If you order rice, some of it will be cold and hard like gravel so you might break a tooth. I could go on.....
Small place but good affordable Portuguese style food. I always try the BBQ chicken.
great check the house
Great food, great service. Great value. Never disappointing!!
Love the food
Very good, authentic food. The homemade hoy sauce has great flavour. Forgot my friends Caldo Verde, but it was not a big deal.
