Enjoyed a wonderful lunch at this place on Tuesday, July 23. The server was gregarious, welcoming, informative and he ensured we had a wonderful meal. The food was delicious and the atmosphere is quite beautiful.

I recently hosted a group booking at Via Norte and had a great experience. Everything from the ambiance, service and especially the food was exceptional. The staff were attentive and very professional, we even had a visit from the Chef. I would recommend it and will return soon. Perfect for group bookings, but intimate enough for a date.

My family and I recently celebrated Easter at Via Norte, and it was a fantastic experience. The service, particularly from our waiter William, was outstanding. The food was exceptional, with a delightful range of Portuguese specialties that were expertly prepared. Mandatory stop on Via Norte! While traveling through Canada, I went with my family to visit Via Norte. And what a pleasant surprise. We were very well received by Mr. William, very friendly and with good humor. My husband chose the Bitoque and I chose the salmon. Everything was delicious. It is worth highlighting the service provided by Mr. William, who, at the end, kindly walked us to the door. Everything 5 stars! Its still worth leaving the house for dinner! I will return and recommend without a doubt!

Dietary restrictions: If you can t eat dairy, this is the place for you! Have a dairy allergy, and I didn t have to worry about a thing, the kitchen was amazing and everything is cooked with High grade olive oil olive oil Food

Very average experience unfortunately. Restaurant basically empty, for a reason. Food was decent but nothing to rave about, strange smell in restaurant aswell. Cant justify the price. Will go elsewhere next time Food

I always come back to via Norte it s been one of my favourite places to eat and drink for years and the vibe plus decor makes the night always a perfect one with exceptional service. Our waiter is always William and has taken care of us and just goes above and beyond to make the experience a great one and same with the whole staff. Truly an amazing place to bring family and friends.

Had our baby shower at Via Norte and I dont think Ill be doing an event elsewhere. The ambience was beautiful, the service was impeccable, and the food to die for. The pictures posted on their website is exactly what you get on your plate, its beautifully plated and delicious. Definitely one of the best restaurants Ive been to and had many guests also compliment the food and how great it was. It feels good to trust a restaurant and know that your guests will leave fed and happy. I also loved that the menu was customizable to a certain degree as many other restaurants do not allow that or do not give you many options when it comes to hosting bigger events. Dietary restrictions: we had some allergies and I appreciated how careful they were when considering the allergies and the plates that went near whoever had allergies.

Im not one to write a review. However, I was so impressed with this restaurant that I had to. From the ambiance, the presentation, to the actual flavor of the food. It was amazing. The winterlicious menu had 3 courses and each were phenomenal. Ive never had food be so consistently good across the board. My waiter was also very nice and helpful. He even provided sample wine for us to try being that we couldnt decide on one. I dont remember his name but I do remember the experience that he provided. I will most definitely return.

My first time having the pleasure of dining at this wonderful restaurant. I had the Octopus which was tender and delicious my companion had the Monk fish, delicate and tasteful. Our server Stephanie was first class, knowledgeable and accommodating. I highly recommend this gem.

We just hosted our daughters First Communion reception here at Via Norte and it was fantastic. The food was delicious, the ambiance was perfect and the service was exceptional. It was such a pleasure working with Stephanie in setting up our Menu and drinks selection. She was so helpful and accommodating and even helped me out with guests last-minute requests due to dietary restrictions. The staff was really nice and constantly checking in with us to make sure everything was OK. We were able to play our own music Playlist that we put together throughout the evening. Overall it was a great night. We were extremely happy to have chosen Via Norte to host our little girls special day. I will definitely consider hosting future events at Via Norte. Thanks Via Norte!

Well, I cant comment on the food since we did not get to eat. We arrived on time for our reservation and were greeted by a really unfriendly hostess/server. She led us to our table, explained the specials of the day, etc. We asked for a few minutes to decide, and she came back exactly three times in 5 minutes to ask if we had decided, if we had any questions, etc. She also asked if we wanted water - we said yes please, flat water. She did not ask if tap or bottled, and proceeded to bring and open a bottle. Okay, we would have preferred tap but were not given the option but whatever. We looked at the menu (which was incredibly underwhelming and unwelcoming we do not accommodate changes to the menu) and decided that we werent going to stay. We let the hostess know and ordered the bill - she said $9 and left. $9 for a bottle of water, lol. Anyway, she never came back to ask why we werent staying or if there was anything they could do or even to say goodbye and collect our payment. We got up, grabbed our coats and left, NEVER to return again. We felt uncomfortable with the hostesss attitude, and werent surprised to see an empty restaurant.

This place is phenomenal! The service was excellent. Our server, William was very attentive and kind. The seafood was fresh and cooked to perfection. Get the seared yellowfin tuna and the grilled octopus! They paired it with one of the best wines Ive ever had (not available in LCBO). I will one million percent be back. Perfect for date night. If I could give this place 6 stars I would . I stopped in one night after work , honestly at first I walked passed thinking it was closed but then turned around and checked and I am so glad I did . I was greeted promptly and taken to my table where I was treated like the whole restaurant was just there for me . The staff was friendly and welcoming , chatting with me as I waiting for my food , making sure I didn t need anything else and just generally making me feel welcome and sharing some stories about Portugal where I have some heritage, which was lovely . Once my food came they left me to enjoy my perfectly cooked steak that was absolutely delicious, after I had an espresso which was smooth and rich with absolutely no bitterness, finally I had the grilled pineapple with a light Carmel sauce the complemented the pineapple perfectly , it was sweet Smokey a little nutty from the Carmel and all around delicious. The atmosphere is beautiful I almost forgot I was still in Toronto . Between each course the staff again checking in with me chatted for a bit and made sure I was taken care off . I cannot recommend this restaurant enough , to this date one of the best dining experience I have ever had , and I apologize for not writing this review sooner , William ( I believe his name is ) was a delight to speak with so make sure to try and speak with him if you can. I will be back again soon

I regret not taking any pictures last. Last night is one for the books! We had such a wonderful time. What an amazing food experience and the service was superb! I have been over 6 times in this Amazing and Exceptionally family owned restaurant. Food is top notch, service is 5 out 5. Cant describe it until you try for yourself. My family and I (Group of 16 people) had dinner at Via Norte. The overall experience was AMAZING, whether it came to the tasty food or the quick and efficient service, this is a restaurant that you want to visit! I think this was the first time that ive seen everyone finish every single piece of food off of their plate! A huge thank you to Stephanie for making this happen! 100% recommend !

What can I say?! Just wow. I booked a table for my partner and myself for a special occassion. We did not know what to expect. Everything from the delicious food to the wonderful staff, William and Danillo was top tier! They treated us like family and even offered us some delicious dessert and port wine on the house for us to enjoy. And boy did we!They also gave us a lovely bottle of housemade hot sauce to take home! We will be returning and recommending to our friends and family

Our first time in the restaurant. My wife and I enjoyed our time there. The service was excellent and the food was very delicious. Its definitely worth a visit if youre craving or interested in authentic Portuguese cuisine.

Excellent! We ordered squid as an appetizer followed by the special fish of the evening. All wonderfully prepared in simple sauces or glazes. The sangria made a great compliment to the meal. And we even enjoyed a glass of port to finish the night. William and Rafaela were wonderful, certainly ask for them! We ll be back the next time we re in town!

A humble and delicious Portuguese establishment Great for a dinner date or for treating guests! We ordered the Grilled Chourico (served on a clay pot), this was one of the highest calibre sausage dishes I have had! And to round out the appetizers, we had the Piri-Piri Tiger Shrimp (with roasted peppers, grilled pineapple, zucchini, fresh herbs), a pricier dish, but seasoned and executed well. Mains started off with the Bitoque (US prime, Portuguese style, home fries, topped with fried egg, peppercorn sauce). First off, the home fries were amazing, beautifully crisp on the outside. The steak was cooked well, simply flavoured, cannot go wrong. Second was a Grouper special, I highly recommend asking them what their Fresh Sheet items are! They are incredibly generous with their portions, the Grouper was topped with a relish, and served with seasonal vegetables and potatoes. By far my favourite dish. Go and have a visit!

My husband and I hosted our wedding reception at Via Norte, and everything was amazing. The food, the service from everyone, all the staff were so nice and on top of things. Stef was incredible to work with weeks leading up to the day, planning and organizing everything with us. All our guests loved the food from appetizers to dessert. Thank you again!

First time going to this restaurant. First when u come in great ambiance right away and our waiter Daniel right away was as attentive as you can get . He was very friendly and courteous. For the food wow the fish is as fresh as you can get delicious all I had the Halibut fillet . My mom had the the stingray fillet and my dad had the whole dourada . Also very delicious according to the them . Highly recommend if you want great seafood .

Dont understand all the positive reviews...the food is mediocre at best, portions are small, extremely overpriced for what you are getting...the only good thing about this place is the service...

There aren t enough words to express how incredible every detail is at this restaurant! I have been here a few times in the last 5 years but this was the first time since Covid pandemic and my first time going as a parent. We had a dinner for 6 adults and 2 kids under 2. The service was impeccable; Stef and the other staff are courteous, helpful and made amazing recommendations! They made sure we had a table with plenty of space for our double stroller, they were considerate when bringing over plates to ensure the little ones didn t get hurt and they were so friendly. The food was just so delicious! The appetizers were our group s favourite dish. Since we wanted to try so many, they were so kind to place them all on platters so we can share (second picture). We had the grilled shrimp & squid, alheira, goat cheese salad and grilled sardines. Even our toddler loved the shrimp and alheira aps! The main courses did not disappoint either; 2 of us had the pan seared tuna steak (first picture) and it was the best dish I ve had there to date. 2 had the raia and loved it as well. The 1 who ordered the steak dish loved the flavour but found it was slightly less rare than he would like and 1 other order the tamboril and also loved it. The main courses come with a good portion of veggies and are satisfying without being crazy huge. However if you have a big appetite, order aps before hand otherwise you may find it to be a bit small. Nobody in our party left hungry though, we all had just the right amount to satisfy our hunger. Desserts were SO yummy! The dark chocolate flan and Natas do Ceu were just the perfect size and sweetness. The molotoff was delicious but a very big serving, could even work for 2. The creme brule was delicious but small lol, she wanted more! Their passionfruit sangria is so refreshing! On top of this, the restaurant although it is family friendly, still has a chic dinning atmosphere without being super fancy. I honestly can keep going on and on about this place but the best thing is to try it yourself, you won t be disappointed! Especially if you love great fish and seafood.

We were a group of 7 trying Via Norte Restaurant for the first time, the food was fantastic! From the appetizers to the cocktails to dinner everything was absolutely delicious. Via Norte is a hidden gem within Toronto. It is outside the downtown core, but the drive to this restaurant is worth it. The food here is fresh and flavourful. The Skate fish and the Sardines were one of my favourite dishes at this restaurant. Both of these dishes were soft, tender, and were extremely tasty. Once I was finished with the dish, I couldnt help myself to want to have seconds. What really stands out this restaurant is the service. William and his crew really made me feel like I was a guest at their restaurant. William recommended me different dishes for me to try as I am not too familiar with Portuguese food. The staff here was attentive no matter how busy they were. Everyone here was friendly and I really appreciate the great hospitality provided by them. The only small sticking point at this restaurant is masks. Some customers do not wear their masks when they go to the washrooms. The washrooms are tight and social distancing isnt possible. Perhaps, the restaurant was short staffed that night and couldnt remind every single person who was using the washroom without a mask to wear one. I hope this is something they can address in the future. Overall, 4.5 stars which I rated as 5 stars on Google. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Inordered thebgrilled sardines as app...it was delicious. The skate fish raia was good but not great. I felt it lacked freshness a lil bit. Dessert was really good. Overall really good experience and i will highly recommend this place.

Dining here has always been pretty pleasant. The food plating and ingredients used may not be the fanciest, but the food in general tastes pretty decent and the portions are generous. The food prices are quite reasonable as well. The waitstaff are all nice and friendly, and they often go out of their way to help us order right. The interior deco and table arrangement on the floor can certainly use some improvements to make the dining hall cozier and more upscale.

came for Winterlicious dinner deal. $48 bucks for one of the best meals I have ever had. I only gave 4 stars cuz i was still hungry after my meal. I ordered the lamb which was amazing! The plate had the lamb, broccoli and mashed potato. The mashed potato was about a half to three quarters of a cup and i would have loved to have had at least twice that. Many wouldnt ...but like i said I was hungry and felt a bit hungry still after the meal. The lamb was amazing but a large part of the the lamb was the bone...which i didnt eat. The staff was great , service great. I also had a bite of my wifes squid plate...mmmmhhh! Definitely try this restaurant!

I went there for the winterlicious menu on a Friday night, the place is spacious as described, it on the side of refined dining experience. Maybe not the ultra refined, but somewhere there. Which for me is kinda of a good thing. The service is great, there were only two guys working, but man they were really good at what they were doing. The food is really good, cat complain at all. I had lamp, my friend had squid, both were really good. I had the sardines for an appetizer, I loved them. The dessert was not special. But Im not into dessert.

Food was great! Had the skate fish as recommended by the server and it was different but good choice. The decor and venue is nice warm and inviting.

The price isn t worth it. The ambient is nice, the staff is courteous. But the food wasn t good enough.

Last place to try out on our Winterlicious tour. The ambience and layout are very good. Our food arrived promptly and was fresh and delicious. We had a great time. One of our party left her ID and credit card there and our server called her the next day to let her know.

Very expensive for the food served. The service is far from good. The owner looks to be the best guy of the restaurant but the staff has been very slow, and erratic. The food was good but certainly not worth the price asked for.

The meal was great and the service was excellent. Went there for Winterliscious and it was not very busy, so I cant comment how service would be on a busy night, but our waitress was great. Having been to Portugal many many times, I know Portuguese service in restaurants doesnt push you to finish and get out. So service felt authentic. Some people might find it slow, but I was happy to sit and relax. Will be back again.

I found this restaurant on Google took my girlfriend and was very happy with our choices that we selected. The lobster salad and grilled sardines was our starters was delicious. We ordered our main courses and ate it like tapas wow very surprised how amazing The shrimp and scallops were also the tuna steak. Our server recommended our wine for pairing for each dish and that didnt disappoint either. We both wish we lived in the city but live in Niagara falls but will be back soon.

It s like a Portuguese person dream dinner. Delicious fish, fair prices and a large eating area that is open concept. Via Norte accommodated my gluten free & vegan wife with options, simple but something that most other restaurants do not offer.

Im going to start by saying that food was very good and environment was good, the place look really good and clean. Saying that I have to say that I was disappointed with service. When theres a big part they should know that people will sometimes change places/seats and they made a bit of a fuss about that. I have served for 10 years and you have to have a good memory. I get it that it is easier when people stick to their seats but in bigger parties its most likely that it will happen and you have to be prepared and not be sour about it. The other thing that i DID not like/appreciate was not being advised that they would charge to cut the cake that was brought in. They shouldve advised the person that made the reservations of the charge and let the person make the choice or not. They pretty much charged $5.00 per person for them to cut the cake. So that for me was a big DEAL. You are not going to make your guest pay for birthday cake. They should give the choice instead of charging without notice. And because of that im only giving it a 3 star.

Dont be fooled by the lunch specials.. Theres nothing special about it, price nor the food. Asked for the BBQ chicken and potatoes with a small salad paid 28 dollars. My friend ordered the same thing and her chicken was partially raw. She brought it to their attention and didnt pay for the meal.

Had a wonderful experience. First time here, I had the black shrimp linguini and it was to die for. My girlfriend had the filet. We both loved our food, and an overall amazing experience. Will definitely be back soon!

Beef tenderloin melts in your mouth and the sauce is so good. Black tiger shrimp also one of my favourites. Everything here is amazing if i could eat here everyday i would.

Food was exquisite and with a supremely full house

First time dining experience for Winterlicious and the food was great and the staff were even better! The servers were extremely friendly and they just brightened up the atmosphere of the restaurant from the moment you step in. I would definitely return.

Went to Dinner there on Saturday. Great place for typical Portuguese food. The atmosphere is very elegant and welcoming. Service is great and wine selection is very good.

Omg so good and great Waite staff

Good food, horrible service. Waiter had no idea what was on the menu, kept coming back, basically re-read the menu to us when asked about a specific dish. Kept leaving the table while taking our order, wasnt able to repeat the drink order to the bartender and walked around looking at his phone. We had to ask for cutlery a couple of times, unused wine glasses were left on the table and he cleared one of the plates before someone finished eating. Worst service I ever had which is too bad becase the food was actually good.

Definitely one of the best places for a full typical Portuguese tasting of delicious food and surprising drinks! The place is spacious and harmonious.

Via Nortes fish - we had the grouper - transported Alex and I (Stacey) back to Lisbon. Our server, Udo, was very attentive and made excellent recomendations. He literally made us feel like the only couple in the resturant. The only thing better than the grouper was the grilled squid appetizer. Dont forget the aperitif; ask Udo for a recomendation.

The restaurant itself is lovely. That is quite possibly the most positive attribute of this place. We walked in and asked where the coat check is. We were told there isnt one. We all sat on our coats. After being seated we were told there is indeed a coat check. The waiter was alone except for a helper who didnt understand a request for butter. Clearly the waiter, although friendly, was overwhelmed. He should not have been left alone even though the restaurant was not busy at all. He was noticeably flustered. The food was good but not great and very very overpriced for the quality. My steak was served on top of a mass of soggy french fries. All in all we would not revisit this restaurant as it definitely did NOT live up to the posted reputation. Overpriced and under serviced. 6/10

Amazing good service good food

Amazing food, terrific service (William was exceptional) and cozy, intimate atmosphere. Whats more to like? I strongly recommend the sardine entree and insist that you order the vanilla crime brûlée...

The food at this restaurant is simply a work of art and very tasty (the Sardine appetizer is to die for). The staff is very courteous and explain the dishes with detail. I would eat at this restaurant every day if I could.

looking for a good meal in a nice restaurant,I dont eat pork nether or red meat in general. Of Course My veggie soup had all the best pieces of PORK moreover the waiter argue that it was my choice then after he double checked the menu he said that this soup come with no pork but somehow the meat got in there but I still can eat it !@!! as I get upset, he offered me A BIG DEAL to get me a new soup for FREE!! and a Drink as I am talking to him he kept walking with no respect telling me that Oh well fine if you need something else Order it!!! My friend Vegetarian, Muslim, Jewish or any respectful please DONT repeat my mistake which was going to a place without reading reviews!!

Went for summerlicious, delicious unique appetizers, the main course a were excellent and did not skimp on quantity. Desserts as well very good. Service was quick and attentive.
