Midtown Toronto meets the English corner pub. That's the idea behind our cozy pub at Yonge and Eglinton. We’re experts on keeping the good times going.
The staff were good and the place was cute but the food was not great. It wasn't inexpensive so I was expecting a better result. I had dry ribs that were very bland and tough and I got sweet potato fries instead of the parmesan truffle fries I had ordered. When I asked the server about it he said they were the right fries. I thought I made a mistake and didn't read the menu correctly but when I got the bill, I saw that he had entered sweet potato fries for the order. I didn't make a deal about it as it was probably an honest mistake, it was just disappointing.
I really enjoyed this pub. Sitting at the bar with a freshly poured beer on tap made for a relaxing experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, the service was friendly, and it was perfect for a good conversation with a friend. I’d happily come back for another laid-back evening.
Great place to go and eat and/or just have some drinks. Service staff are great, they go over and above to give you a friendly experience. Special mention to Bianca, and Atisa for great service and Clive who will cook your delicious food.
Went for my 19 year old son's birthday. Saw a cockroach on the wall of my seat. Asked for a pitcher glass to share a litre beer, but she brought it in 2 litres. Paid for the 2 litre price, of course. The foods tasted good.
This place always caught my attention whenever I was crossing by. So one night my fam decided to go in and have some drinks there. Well, it’s a really cool place to hang out. Loud music and people chatting at their highest pitch, I LOVED IT. We got some beer and their double vodka shot. Fish and chips were spot on and I loved their mac and cheese bites. We also enjoyed hot sauce wings! Definitely a good place to chill and hang out with friends over beer or watch a game.
We had an amazing time at the Kent last night!! I was there with some friends and we enjoyed delicious drinks and food! Tim is a great bartender, engaging with us and suggesting very good cocktails (the U-bae Cosmo was amazing!). Bianca also took really good care of us, she’s incredible! Super thanks to the Kent team and a shoutout to Tony!!
I recently had the pleasure of visiting this bar, and it left a lasting impression on me. The staff was not only professional but also incredibly kind, making my visit all the more enjoyable. Their attention to customer service was evident from the moment I walked in. What truly stood out, though, was the food. I had the fish and chips, and I can confidently say that it was the best I've ever had in Canada. The fish was incredibly fresh, and the batter was perfectly crispy. Each bite was a delightful burst of flavor, and the portion was generous. The side dishes complemented the main course perfectly. The cozy atmosphere and friendly ambiance of the bar added to the overall positive experience. It's the kind of place where you feel at home and well taken care of. I can't wait to return to this establishment to explore more of their menu and enjoy their exceptional service. If you're in the mood for a delicious meal served by professional and kind staff, this bar is an excellent choice. I highly recommend it.
This is a really great place to come for lunch or dinner or even just for drinks and watch game. The service staff; Bianca, Steve, Alyssa, Amina and managers Tony and Anabel make this place even more enjoyable. The picture attached is the cocktail named after me. Go in and ask for the Pink Floyd. Lol you'll love it! Also Tuesday they have trivia night, lots of fun!
Great neighborhood English pub
The food was bad and expensive. Service was ok but slow. Drinks were not very good. The place smells bad.
I went here with high hopes. Our waitress was good and tried her best to serve the many tables. The food was a disappointment. Chicken curry was brutally bad. It was like a water down soup. It was tasteless and expensive. The naan bread that came with it was the only good part.
Great time at Duke of Kent, where we rented the upstairs room for a ski club function. The room was nicely decorated for Christmas, the service, food and drinks were excellent. Kudos to Tony for graciously managing the locale for our large and boisterous group.
Super nice staff. Fish and chips are very good, a solid 4 out of 5. Nachos 3 out of 5. Chicken fingers 2 out of 5. Curry chicken was not good all. Very disappointing. Tasteless, watery, and only a few pieces of chicken. A 1 out of 5. Very busy on weeked nights and very long wait for food. Again, super nice staff, but food can be a hit and miss. Also, if youre sitting on the first floor close to the back, you will smell the toilets ewww.
We were a group of >40 on the 2nd floor. Great service, nice atmosphere, good choices for pub fare. Tony, the Manager, was easy to deal with and very accommodating.
It took a long time to serve our orders. Also, they only serve cider in cans.
My friends and i spent the latter part of my birthday at this bar last evening Shoutout to the 2 kindest bar staff , who made sure we felt comfortable through the night. Impeccable service. Brilliant staff. Thank you Food : 5/5
This was the most underwhelming experience I ve had in a long time. Me and my partner ordered a stein, a glass of wine, and chips with curry sauce. The supposed Amsterdam beer was flat and tasted abysmal. The chips were too salty, and the curry sauce had the same consistency as water, with even less flavour. The only redeeming part of our time there was the wine, which was made off site. Do not come here unless you re looking to spend too much on far too little.
The the wild mushroom rigatoni all arrabbiata pasta was good. The service was horrible. Orders were not all taken promptly. They messed up/ forgot about some of our orders. The food came out different times for everyone at our table.
I would have given zero stars if possible. Worst pub. Waited for 20 mins on a Saturday and no one came to even provide a menu card. In the end we just left and went to somewhere else. Horrible experience. Almost no staff to serve or attend to customers on a Saturday evening.
Best pub Ive been to in Toronto
Convenient location, I was coming by public transit and my handicapped friend was being driven over. Neat, very clean, great service and food. Will definitely go back Food : 5/5
I liked the place, service and the vibe of a pub. Will definitely come again.
Giving 5 stars strictly based on one server - Tim. My friend and I went last night for drinks and dinner. At first we felt ignored to the point I was ready to leave. Then Tim took over and turned the night around. I really enjoyed my meal, the atmosphere (decorated for the holidays) and the exceptional service. Thank you Tim for making our night GREAT!
Giod food and service. Nice specials.
Crazily great service and group of people here! Love this place so much. Claire is amazing and food is way above if you compare to other bars/pubs. Duke it is!
Food is very meh and overpriced. Service and ambience is on point however. Will likely come back but only for drinks.
38$ for a sandwich.
The waitress was very helpful and friendly. Turkey Thanksgiving special was overall satisfying though turkey was a little dry and I wouldve liked a little more squash with my meal. Nachos were also good but toppings were a bit thin. Club Med boil bowl was enjoyed with a generous portion of halloumi.
I m usually stingier with stars than a dragon hoarding gold, but Duke of Kent on Yonge just hit the jackpot! I ve known this place for a while food s decent, service is usually solid. But tonight, Amina took the whole experience to a 5-star level. Not only was she super nice and professional, but she also took one for the team (and the business!) by apologizing for her coworker s attitude something she didn t even have to do! Amina, you didn t just serve us; you sprinkled joy all over our night. Five solid stars, all thanks to you! , Amina! You re a star!
Ive been going to this pub since it opened in 1977. I wont be going back for the forseeable future. The menu is tired, hasnt been updated in years and the food is mediocre. I was there twice this past week - the mashed potatoes are leaden like and the sausages in the bangers and mash were deep fried and my friend gave up after a couple of bites. The place was also redecorated with a line of TVs along a wall which is nice if you want to have a TV a few inches away from your head. It used to have the vibe of a nice English pub but no longer. The bright spot is the service - always friendly and professional. But there are much better places in the neighbourhood and the Kent really needs to up its game.
2024 August - The food and drinks were excellent. Thank you to the great Chef working late on a Friday night of a long weekend. I was very happy everything came out so perfectly piping hot, not an easy thing to get done sometimes. The service from Tricia was excellent. She was fast, friendly and efficient. She was fantastic. We sat outside. It was a very nice night out. Great spot to people watch. I can hear better outside as inside can be noisy with crowds, tvs on, etc. ................ Aug. 2019 the inside was a construction mess but they were still serving. We sat outside with no problem. Our female server had a too short skirt on imho, was nice to us and we got great service.
I visited this restaurant in Midtown last Saturday with four friends after hearing great things about it. We were excited to have a fun weekend meal, but our experience was far from what we had hoped for. From the moment we entered, the welcome was far from warm. The hostess and our server, a young blonde beautiful girl, had a rude attitude. She answered our questions with hostility and seemed very angry, making us feel uncomfortable to the point where we couldnt even order our drinks or food properly. When I ordered a steak, I specifically asked for my Caesar salad to be served on a separate plate so the temperature difference wouldnt make my steak cold. Unfortunately, they ignored this request and brought everything together on one plate. When I pointed this out, there was no apology. The worst part was when we asked for the bill to be split. Our server brought all the checks and then literally threw them onto the table, which was extremely disrespectful. Overall, this restaurant felt more like a place where customers are treated poorly. If anyone wants to experience Karen s restaurant , this is the place to go ( google Karen s restaurant for more information). My friends and I have decided we would never recommend this restaurant to anyone, as the food wasnt good either. To make matters worse, I became seriously ill later that Saturday night, and Im now on medication and undergoing tests. If it turns out that this illness is food-related, I will pursue this matter legally This is the first time I m giving a restaurant a one-star rating on Google. It s mostly due to the negative vibe and poor service we received. As a Google Local Guide, I have never given a one-star review before. I always strive to be fair in my feedback. I truly hope the management will consider these issues seriously and make improvements.
Ok so this review is nothing against the food, food is what can you can expect from a Pub. But, when it comes to service that s another story. didn t get any cutlery. I had to ask for water TWICE. When I asked the waitress if the wings have a dry rub, she responded with The wings are breaded if that s what you mean. Towards the very end I didn t tip because I felt as if the service wasn t good enough, and for the first ever time in my life I was confronted by the waitress and she asked my why i didn t tip, she then proceeded to guilt me by saying she makes minimum wage (when I do to), asking for a tip when the service was sub-par is insane to me. If you re going here make sure you tip even if the staff spits on you, because I feel like even then they feel entitled to a tip.
Im on the patio for lunch at least 1 per week. The GM is Super Friendly. The waitresses are Excellent. The Turkey Clubhouse is the best & Im out alot. Very busy at nite. Ive been coming here 30+ years.
Tony and Claire were friendly and welcoming. Ill make more reservations there for sure.
Great local spot that has great eats and services. They welcome your fur friends on patio as well. Definitely will be my go to spot in the patio season.
wornout facilities in a prime/corner loc. food could me more inspiring but the kind service is so overwhelming that food remains secondary (and even tertiary after drinks). great for people-watching when the patio is open in good weather. i enjoyed the fullers london pride english style bitter cheers
Best club sandwich Ive ever had. Fresh local turkey with grilled high quality bread. Ordered this using Uber many times. Today the order arrived with an unsealed bag and the box inside was opened. I called the assistant manager Mabel about the issue and within fifteen minutes she personally delivered a replacement order at no additional charge. Amazing customer service. I highly recommend the Duke of Kent at Yonge and Eglinton.
TO THE OVER 60 s Seniors Crowd, great, reasonably priced FULL ENGLISH BREAKFAST! I would have given 5 Stars but we couldn t have a normal conversation as the music was so loud at lunch/brunch time. Yes, it s a bar, but? Our waitress went above and beyond to serve us.5* Dietary restrictions: I have Celiac Immune Disorder, a common Wheat/Gluten allergy. They have Gluten Free . Thank you The Duke as we call it. Cheers
We had a perfect Sunday late lunch, Banquet Burger was fantastic as was the Cabernet and the service, wonderful staff and atmosphere! We will see you soon! Food
We had a GREAT late Sunday lunch,Banquet Burger was delicious, and french Fries perfect!!The Staff was charming and helpful,we will be back!!!
Welcoming pub.
Hostess was extremely rude when I asked to use their restroom. She said it was for customers only and brushed me off after I told her that I was going to order something as well.
We wanted to get one beer after having dinner, and since the moment we seated the server was pushing us to buy a lot more and food. We just didn t want to. They kept pushing us to leave because they needed the table but there were other tables empty and absolutely no line of anyone wanting to come. HORRIBLE service. Not recommended at all.
I ordered chicken curry and it was the worst in my life. Actually it made me sick. Never again!!!
Nice lunch menu. Good service. It was very noisy at noon so difficult for good discussion. Food
We went yesterday and although it is understandable that it was saturated due to the date, there were only two waiters, administrators: they should have an efficient action plan for holidays. Its a lot of work for two. They sat us in the most uncomfortable place, we ordered something similar to a sausage, which we saw in an image through G. Maps and a French hamburger, they gave us 2 sausages that were not so good and with cold bread. We asked for two very delicious beers just like the starter and the total was more than 70. Disappointing.
The Duke of Kent is a gem in the Yonge and Eglinton area. The food is always great. The service is attentive. Great location and vibe.
Was here for a soccer game. The good parts: big enough tv screens, good beer, decent food, and tables setup too close-just the way you would want it in a sports bar. The okay part: Its a bit pricey, and yes, prices are up for most places but the portion size could be bigger. The bad part: the service, and it is really bad. We were greeted and given a table and that was it. After waiting a while (>30 mins) we asked twice for someone to take our order, had to then check to see if they actually took it, everything took time and then we had to ask and check repeatedly (for water, condiments etc). The place wasnt understaffed, but I dont know what servers were doing moving around briskly when really none of the guests were getting any food . My team won the game so I guess thats good luck so hopefully will come back again to a better service. Vegetarian options: Black Beans Burger
Was a great experience. Food was really good, drinks were pretty solid, and service was great.
I loved the curry and beer at Duke of Kent. The food was delicious, and they have a good selection of beers. The staff was friendly too. I recommend it!
Excellent food and service! We ate lunch at the Duke of Kent and watched the England EuroCup game last weekend. All of us very much enjoyed our food which included Bangers and Mash, Fish and Chips, All Day Breakfast, Cobb Salads among others. All were excellent. The server, managers and kitchen were service oriented and allowed for flexibility/modifications necessary to deal with one of the parties who had allergies. Overall great place to watch a game and grab a bite. Dietary restrictions: Flexible, as needed.
The place is nice, has a good vibe, good to hang out and watch sports, and the staff who greeted and served us were friendly. Ordered some drinks and fries. Beer was OK but didn t really like the cocktail we ordered + fries were not great either. Vegetarian options: Several options available on the menu. Dietary restrictions: Several options available on the menu. Parking: Free street parking during special hours.
The staff are friendly and attentive. All our needs were accommodated. Food
Bianca was excellent - as usual!
I visited The Kent tonight and had an incredible time. They have a fantastic selection of snacks and beers, my favorite being the hazy IPA. However, what truly sets this place apart is the superb staff! I sat at the bar, and I believe the bartender s name was Matt. He made me feel right at home, as if I were having drinks with a friend. I ll definitely be coming back more often!
Fantastic
From the moment my mother and I were seated we had an off vibe. The hostess at the front seated us and seemed like she didn t want to seat us at all. Then proceeded to tell my mom where she would fit the best at our table, which isn t for her to decide. Our waitress was nice yet we had someone take our order which was two small fish and chips. One large fish and chips came out after about 20 minutes of waiting. We probably waited around 15 minutes longer after that once they had to fix our order. I complained to our waitress about all of this and i assume she told the supervisor/manager because about 5 minutes later she came out to apologize and comp our meal. Once our meals finally came out I had to ask for tarter sauce since my plate didn t come with one. I appreciated the lady who ended up helping us with everything after all but service definitely needs to improve and it is safe to say we will not be returning. The manager who was a man in a tie walking around with a frown on his face the entire time and who was blatantly rude to customers as well needs a reality check as well if he wants to run a successful business. Edit: They ended up paying for our entire meal which we really appreciated as well as giving us some coupons if we would like to come back to even another location. We appreciated this act greatly and made everything a little bit better.
one of our favourite pubs in Toronto :) always lively and good food options too. even visited during a snow storm and it was still lively!
Poor experience. Female server moved us fairly brusquely from a table and the male server was impatient when serving us drinks and handling questions about gluten free options for my friend. Walked off and said ill give you minute twice. And was gone 10+ mins each time. We left without ordering food, because of service.
I was so well received here. The hosts Lizeth honest is the best, I was never so well treated, specially in high season. The food was great and our waitress Kiki is the best. I highly recommend here
Maebel is the best!!
Great little pub
Great fish and chips!
Great steak and beer excellent house!
Good food, good service, good atmosphere, excellent room for privacy.
Never thought such hidden gold was here! Steak deal two for own ordered and asked for rare, it was cooked perfectly never had such well cooked steak in a while props to the staff of this location
Great waitress, food was delicious!
Had a little bit of a complaint in regards to the price for the portion served. The manager contacted me directly and offered to refund the purchase since my son wasnt satisfied. Handled everything very very professional and courteous.
I am a regular customer and have always enjoyed my visits without any issues. However, today, I encountered an incident that has left me deeply disappointed. Upon entering the restaurant, an employee named Megan, who I understand is a supervisor, looked at me and abruptly asked, What is it? When I responded with Excuse me?, she repeated the same question. I then requested a table for one person, to which she replied, I saw you holding your phone; I thought you were an Uber driver. It became apparent that she assumed I was an Uber driver because I am a Black man entering the pub. Another employee also got involved and bluntly asked if I needed a table or not, further exacerbating the situation. I have never had such an experience in my entire life, and this incident has profoundly affected my perception of your restaurant. As a result, I will not be returning. I felt it necessary to bring this to your attention, as such behavior is unacceptable and does not reflect the values of inclusivity and respect that I believe your restaurant upholds.
The hummus was good. Dukes draft beer perfect for the night cap. Excellent service.
This pub was very accommodating for our reserved party of 16, as we required a wheelchair accessible space. They were pleasant to work with, as we planning a luncheon for after a funeral so it was fairly last minute. They reserved the section at the front where tables are grouped together so our guests can mingle, and they have left a seat out so our guest with the wheelchair can easily slip in at the table. I have to give them 4 stars because they did not clear the path nor the space in the accessible washroom on the main floor. It may be not used often by patrons, as it is used as a storage room for maintenance equipment, ie., mop bucket, wet floor sign and leaf blower, by the establishment. It was an inconvenience for our wheelchair guest and their assistant to clean up. Other than that, the servers were kind and attentive and our guests were happy with their meals. Parking: An underground parking garage is conveniently located across the street. Current rate is $6 flat rate on weekends and $2.70 per half hour on weekdays. Wheelchair accessibility: A foldable wheelchair/walker was able to go through the front door. Although, no measurements were taken, a motored wheelchair may have a hard time or may not fit through. See general review above for washroom details.
Great service. They make you feel at ease and nothing could be better, besides the excellent beer and food
Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good poutine
Great local pub very friendly staff good food
Held a private event at the Duke. The food was delicious! The manager made us feel so welcome and the service was outstanding! Highly recommend!!
Service was friendly but thats about it. A friend had a draught Stella and it tasted flat. The sangria that was ordered (and then returned) tasted like straight up grape juice, the old fashioned I had was watery (how??) and the food destroyed my stomach. Thankfully the collective art beer I ordered was fine out of the can. Would never go again of my own free will.
Waiter was nice. Full English had a total of 6 pieces of potatoes that werent fully cooked, two sad pieces of what tasted like microwave bacon, and toast that was only cooked on one side so was soggy. Eggs were cooked well, the singular sausage tasted good. Overall, 22 bucks including tip not filling me up for an English breakfast order is.... unheard of. Also the coffee maker was broken and the cook had to leave the stove unattended to reset some breakers to make the TVs work. Which was admittedly good comedy and entertaining.
The potatoes on the full English breakfast were perfectly crispy on the outside and raw on the inside. Server was great though.
Great classic pub spot at yonge and eg! We loved the curry
Had a great time at trivia tonight!!!! Our server Jenn was absolutely amazing and so was the trivia host steve 100% recommend
Nice little pub with great atmosphere that takes you across the pond. Nice selection of draughts on tap. Only drawback was that the wait staff could have been a little more attentive.
Bangin fish n chips
Best fish and chips in town !
Cozy booths! Some foods like the fish & chips and pot pie are delish. Others like the salads and kids butter pasta are average. We had average service. Forgot to bring the ice cream that comes with kids meals. Cleared a dish I was still finishing. Average place. Given how many stronger options are nearby, this place isnt worth a look.
Good fish and chips
Fantastic little pub with an authentic feel. The staff make you feel right at home. Every once in awhile they bring out samples of different food items from their menu...everything has been so tasty. Fish tacos, hamburger, fries.. are my go-to. If you like beer, their own Duke beer is fantastic. They also have at least 4 different non-alcoholic beers including Guinness 0 which is like 98% similar to regular Guinness. Cheers
Fantastic night and would absolutely book again. Thanks!
An absolute gem at Yonge/Eglington in Toronto. Ill definitely be back.
Held a small event ~14 people at this location, restaurant was very accommodating and servers were very attentive. Allowed our group to bring our own cake and provided plates/knife/utensils at no extra charge. Atmosphere was laid back and casual and it was perfect for our group who had a number of members drop in at different times. Thank you!
Food was delicious, though prices are on the high end for the amount you get. Nice staff and beautiful interior and exterior.
AMAZING SERVICE GREAT FOOD GREAT ATMOSPHERE AMAZING OVERALL EXPERIENCE!!!!!!!!!
Bet they don t taste their own recipes. I tried their new chicken parmesan from the menu and it tasted like they had emptied a tabasco sauce bottle into it. Probably the worst food I ve tasted at a restaurant. Sitting arrangement was really good.
You can find better quality food somewhere else. We sat upstairs which was not as lively as downstairs. Service was mediocare.
We went for a DnD gaming session. The upstairs atmosphere had great vibes.
Great food and service!
You cannot go wrong going for late drinks and eats here. Servers are great, food is great. The cook Clive is awesome. In the Yonge & Eglinton neighbourhood.
This bar is nice place to chill and enjoy the beer
Good location and service. Been twice and havent had luck w food - chicken curry (lunch express) hardly any chicken, friend raved about chicken pot pie - looked good, good pastry but watery lacking flavour. Friends said turkey club sandwich is good.
A great place to hang out with your friends.
Fun and friendly - great for casual food. The fish and chips were delicious. The small size was actually very generous.
Went in for a drink with friends and sat at the bar with bartender Tim running it. WORST experience with a bartender we ve ever had in the city. He was an a-hole the whole time and was loudly talking negatively about us (because we only wanted shots and our group isn t the white folk he s used to). He confirmed this when we called him out on it and said he s making us wait on purpose. Never going back in there because of Tim, trying to talk smack about paying customers to the bar backs, pathetic guy.
Its a decent place to hang out. Friendly staff, moderate prices.
Thris was the waitress and she is incredible nice to the guests and an inspiration for the people who want to work with this type of service Ill be back
Its been a few years since Ive been to this location. It still has that classic pub feel. Glad the atmosphere hasnt changed. The waitress was really cool and provided good service. Now...about the food...? Like most places in the city, as the prices increase the amount of food on my plate decreases. I got a burger and fries. They used to fill a plate of fries now they fill a tiny cup of fries and serve it with the smallest burger Ive ever seen. Most of the plate was empty space. Also, the bun of the burger felt slightly cold like it came out of the fridge and wasnt warmed up. Food was disappointing. Menu is lacking in options. If they can re-vamp the menu and pay attention to the details (like warming up a cold bun) this could be a great spot to grab drinks and a bite.
Amazing location! Duke of Kent is right in the heart of midtown and a short walk from the Eglinton subway station, which is a huge plus specially when its this cold out. Been to this pub many times; their food and service has been consistently good. The ambience and the music makes it for a perfect hangout spot after work. Definitely recommend!
Great food, the steak was amazing.
I like the atmosphere and the place itself but the food was not really good at all!! The portion was small and the butter chicken itself was just okay .
Feels like a small town pub with an older crowd.
My steak was perfectly cooked for medium rare, so tender, juicy and delicious. Fries was super crispy as well. My sister had fish and chips but the batter was not crispy at all. Even tho the atmosphere and food is good, the restaurant has flies which is a bit of a mood killer.
Pricey pricey
Poor experience with waitresses (such as Lindsay) who are intent on being incompetent and hard on hearing. Food has been good over our 4 visits to the place but we have been disappointed enough by their service now to not visit again. Worth a visit once to get an Eglington bar vibe but thats as far as Id recommend going with this establishment. I still left a generous tip to pay for this rather scathing review relative to the ones I normally leave.
BEST NACHOS EVER!
upstairs area is chill, washrooms are good for doing illicit substances.
My server Lucas really knew his stuff. Man was that guy good. Thank again Lucas!
Service was extremely quick and very pleasant. Big kudos to the staff. The fish and chips was ok. Overall an enjoyable experience and really solid local pub. A bit on the pricier side.
Decent food and pints if not a bit pricey.
bar staff and waitresses/ waiters are extremely easy to talk to and all have a great vibe. foods great and its generally just easy to go in there and relax
We had the chicken pot and it was not good! The mashed potato and sticky toffee pudding was the worst I ever had :(
After waiting for any service at all and ordering 1 drink and a glass of water. We wound up with one glass of water. Best part! The water tasted like dish soap, maybe I could have washed down the suds with that other drink I ordered! I never ended up getting it so I guess Ill never come back.... First restaurant I walked out on in years.
Excellent place for grabbing your favorite beer and casual dining with friends and family!
Excelent! Delicious!
It s a good place to go with your friends and have some bites. The one that I like is the fried mac n cheese! You should really try it!!!
Really enjoyed this place. Went here with family and had the spicy chicken sandwich with sweet potato fries. Both were above average, would definitely order again. Had the house Draught and also really enjoyed it. There were some slip ups with our orders but nothing major, our wings had the wrong sauce so they didnt charge us for them. The service was really good and overall I liked the vibe here. I recommend checking it out if you like this kind of place, you wont be disappointed.
The service is terrible, they dont ask you if you want food. They are slow. Ive have 4 bad experiences and Im done.
Took a while for someone to even come to ask us for drinks, then servers are just hanging out behind the bar ignoring us. So we left.
The Eggs Benedict was outstanding! Perfectly poached eggs, creamy hollandaise, and savory bacon on a buttery muffin a delightful breakfast choice. Highly recommended!
The Duke of Kent is like that cozy corner pub where you instantly feel at home, but with some seriously fancy cooking tricks up its sleeve. Seriously, their food is next-level were talking creamy, succulent goodness in every bite. You can tell they put heart and soul into every dish. What I love most is that its not stuffy or pretentious; its just a chill place with top-notch grub. Whether youre grabbing a brew or digging into their mouthwatering dishes, the Duke of Kent always hits the spot. Its the kind of spot you keep coming back to for that perfect mix of comfort and gourmet flavor.
Service was great! It was a bit noisy for me but its a Friday night so thats too be expected.
Good menu variety. Ordered the Pretzel and Chicken Pot Pie, both delicious. Our server was attentive and friendly! My only feedback would have to be, throughout dinner we could hear and see some employees being scolded from who I assume is management which I thought was awkward and unprofessional infront of customers.
Nice place to sit down and enjoy a bit pricey but its worth the atmosphere
Great patio uptown .
Just felt like a real nice pub to either hang out in with friends, or even bring a date. Place seemed clean and the staff was real nice. Food was awesome (I ordered way too much) but it was all fresh, rasty and priced OK.
I liked the drink, but the food was of low quality compared to the price.
The food is delicious. The service exemplary. The cost reasonable. And the cookies are FAB. 2023 Still FAB. A nice, cozy space to kick back and watch footie.
Tried this spot instead of the other nearby pubs for a change. Wow, am I surprised that people go here. 1. Food prices here are higher than the other nearby pubs 2. The food itself is horrid. Wings are gross and fatty, nachos are bland. 3. The portions? 17.99 for 12 nacho chips with cheese. Quite absurd when it costs the restaurant $1 to make these. GO TO ANY OTHER PUB IN THE AREA BEFORE YOU GO HERE
This was my local and I met my wife here in 1996. I always felt welcome and the staff were great. I kept going back when I moved from the area. I missed it when I returned to Europe. It had Yorkshire beer on tap back then. I am happy to know it is still going strong. Service
Food, drinks and atmosphere are okay but nothing great, and I am not sure whats such a high rating is all about. I would say everything is average. Food
This place is bottom of the barrel. They turned the lights off on the patio while my friends and I were sitting there to deter new customers since they were closing. Sure okay, but maybe you might want to be considerate of the paying customers already at your bar?
Excellent! Great kitchen got a fish and chips for delivery and Chicken Fingers in local and its was very well made and tasty. Good service and inside there is many table options. I recommend it. Keep up. Cheers
Good service and food I recommend it
Had a good time. Plenty of seating, prompt service, cold beer.
I was disappointed to find that the sticky toffee pudding did not come with ice cream as indicated in the menu, but only a dollop of whipped cream. They should update the menu, its dry and plain on its own
I have gone to Duke of Kent at least 4/5 times. I like the atmosphere and the cozy vibes of the pub a lot. Most of the time the food is great. I mostly go on Saturday Steak nights and I wasnt satisfied with the food only one time which is okay as mistakes happen and it wasnt a very big deal in my opinion. All the other times I really loved the steak. And I do think they are always trying to improve their service and are willing to accept constructive criticism which is very commendable. Really love their chocolate cake as a dessert item and as mentioned the steak is pretty great too. One thing the pub could improve on is the online reservation aspect. We have often tried to book a table but a lot of the times we wouldnt receive any confirmation. We always would find a table even if the reservation wasnt confirmed though. Still, a confirmation of reservation would be very helpful for a big group of people. Something to keep in mind I guess. Overall, I will continue to go there and enjoy the fun environment the pub offers.
