Pogue Mahone Pub & Kitchen in Toronto

Took a couple of rounds before I managed to find the entrance (turns out we didnt need to exit the building after all), but once we did, we had a lovely lunch with a dear friend. Vegetarian options: There is a decent variety of vegetarian options on the menu. Had enough options to avoid being forced into a simple choice.

Great food and drinks, service, atmosphere and music! We were dancing in our chairs! Also really good drink specials! Dietary restrictions: Great gluten free options and very accommodating. The staff were very knowledgeable.

Made a reservation for 2 at 6 pm tonight, arrived at 6:01, my friend joined me at 6:07. By 6:11 I waved down the host because no one had even come to say hi or take drink orders. He went and talked to the bartender who seemed to ignore him. By 6:17 my friend and I left because I had been there 16 minutes and no one came over.

An excellent pub that was a short walking distance from my hotel in Toronto. The pub has a large selection of excellent beers, and good food dishes. One of the things I liked the most in the pub is the special table game that is there.

I like the food service, more attentive towards customer, appreciative menu suggestions. However, I feel less attention on water refilling, and another wierd part was after billing there was one host staring at us though we were just there for 10 minutes more after billing was paid. Overall it was good hospitality.

Nice little spot but management met us as soon as we got in the door to tell us there would be an 18% service charge as we were a large party kinda made us feel like we were not welcome yet the place was empty Anyway we stayed for a few drinks had a nice time the servers were lovely especially Erin she was very nice and very welcoming

They provide okay service and classic food staples. The menu is somewhat limited. They also have a nice patio to sit on outside at. The space inside is nice and it is a good venue.

Beautiful atmosphere, service & food! Our server Robyn was so amazing, a perfect example of what exceptional service should be! The smash burger and pizza were absolutely delicious and came out so quick. Espresso martini was delicious as well! 10/10!

Terrible experience and service. I strongly recommend NOT going to this place, as they clearly dont understand customer service. One of the waiters, who also works at the bar, has a terrible attitude. Every time he came to our table, it was awkward and rude. Not even looking at us. When we asked for the bill and requested it to be split, he messed it up repeatedly. Mistakes happen, but he spent over five minutes splitting it wrong again and again without even looking at us or asking if we could help clarify. Finally, one of us had to tell him to stop and listen for a moment; only then did he manage to get it right. Because of all these issues, I didn t leave a tip. The waiter then became aggressive, confronting me directly and slamming plates and glasses on the table in a violent and intimidating manner. It was honestly scary. We reported it to the manager, but they didn t seem to care and just kept saying, OK. This was harassment on top of horrible service. Avoid this place at all costs.

I really loved this place. It was such a wonderful place to sit and chat and the people working there were absolutely lovely. I had a delicious drink which I would recommend (a strawberry daiquiri). My friends did not enjoy the Blue Hawaiian drink they ordered, and we all agreed it was not our favourite from the menu. Everything else was delicious. I had a lovely burger; would recommend those!

We were a reservation of 18! They were able to seat us, take our orders, and serve us promptly. Our waiter and the manager were also very nice to us when bringing out our food and making sure everything was alright with us. Overall, its a great spot in Toronto!

My colleague and I had lunch there last Wednesday around noon. The service was amazing from the time we were greeted until the moment we left. Our server Erin was very friendly and attentive and made sure our meals were to our liking. We gas the smash burger and the fish and chips. No complaints.

Terrible. Came here on Saturday, the place was almost empty. Stood inside for a couple of minutes - nobody came. Then I sat outside for 10 minutes - nobody cared. Eventually I left of course. What are the waiters getting paid for? The service is just ridiculous

Warning about the spinach dip! It s made with blue cheese! It s quite a strong flavour, and leaves quite a bad taste in the mouth. Also the raspberry and yogurt cheesecake; the raspberries taste fermented. They didn t have the pot pie, they said they sold out. The veggies with the brisket were raw, and the chicken wings were dry. They brought out normal fries after sweet potato was ordered. I m not sure what was going on, but despite the great atmosphere, the food here was subpar. Super disappointed.

The atmosphere is the focus of this place for sure. Even on a VERY empty happy hour, the service was beyond poor (the waitress was polite, it s just it took forever for everything from bringing water to bringing the cheque after I d asked). Drinks are good though, and quite strong, if pricey.

Food was amazing. Service was bad. Pretty much was ignored which was disappointing. Drinks were forgotten about twice and had to ask again and then we didnt get something we ordered. Food was so good, so really wish service would of been better.

Simply the worst nachos I have ever tried to eat, very bad. I think we counted eight beans, even less jalapeno slices and the guacamole had such a bad flavor and color, chips tasted burnt some how??? Also I have been dining with my wife for over 35 years now and this is the first time ever the server has asked us if we wanted separate checks, we were sitting on the same side of the table sometimes with our arms around each other, seemed rather odd.

Service and atmosphere were perfect, the staff are very nice and polite. Unfortunately I ordered the wings and the wings itself were super dry and not enough sauce. I would definitely not recommend the wings if you visit.

We were in a hurry to get to an event, but needed a quick lunch. Perry and Claudia went over and beyond to get us our drinks and food served with great time. I highly recommend this beautiful facility.

Just want to say that everything was great. Especially the service. Olivia was one of the greatest and kindest servers I ve had in a while. I would go back just for her to serve me.

Went here on 2 lunchtimes. In general the food was great. Fries are excellent, smash burger good, chicken sandwich great, Caesar salad very good. The pizza was not really to my taste, very thin and a bit soggy in the middle .. ok but not great. Inside looked nice but we ate on the very good patio.

I highly recommend this place, their service is second to none, we were a large group and the servers were quick and pretty efficient. I really liked the buffalo wings and sweet potato fries. Cocktails were great as well.

Its a great little place for a dinner. They have a unique menu that includes a diverse blend of different foods. They have a nice beer selection including a number of local beers on tap. They offer outdoor seating as well.

Ive been here a bunch of times and the food has been good each time. Ive never gotten the same thing and have never been disappointed. The drinks are also good and not too expensive. The staff is attentive and very friendly. They also have a nice patio, but the pigeons do hang around quite a bit, but if you are okay with them, youll be fine! Great place for dinner and a drink after work!

My friends and I visited Pogue Mahone after attending the Pride Parade. It was a chilly one. Although it was packed, our group of 5 was seated immediately -- indoors and in a comfortable booth. The server was also great. He checked on us frequently and didnt mind when we had 2 more friends join us almost an hour later. They pulled up extra chairs and ordered a second round of food. Despite this, we did not feel rushed to finish or leave at any point. Food and vibe was good and casual, as always. Pogue Mahone continues to be a reliable go-to spot!

Service was lovely, but they need to learn how to create an atmosphere. The pub was half empty and they didn t let the other half of my group in because they were fully booked ? Never heard/seen a sports bar so silent for the Euros final in all my life. Sorry guys.

Weird/aggressive/bad service. I left my table to *look* at the bar, and the hostess asked me to return to my seat? It wasnt even busy and I wasnt interacting with anyone, just looking at the liquor selection. And dont try to order a basic cocktail off-menu because they cant price 2oz of liquor with some juice. I get that, Ive heard it before at cheap student bars, but again the attitude from the server was oddly confrontational.

We were a group of 7 on sunday June 30 for brunch. Were only a few people 20 minutes, wait just to be asked what we want to order. 2 coffes at a time, no sugar on the tables wait another 15 min for only 2 packs of sugar. The yonge waiter was all over the place and the restauran was almos empty. Brought us a wrong order, never refill coffees until another waiter came by. I have to get up and ask him for missing orders but he came back just to ask for payment. Really bad experience we will never recommend this place to anyone.

When I ordered chicken tacos, they came cold and the chicken wasnt good. I couldnt even finish half of it. This made me lose my appetite and feel unhappy. I went outside for a smoke break ( I informed the waiter) and got a drink. But when I came back in, my table was taken by other people. I had to move to the bar area. The waiter who took my order asked why I changed tables. I told him what happened, but he didnt seem sorry or offer an apology. He made it seem like it was my fault for leaving my table. I felt ignored and unappreciated as a customer. I decided I wont come back to this restaurant. The service was bad and the staff didnt care about the mistakes that happened during my visit. Overall, today wasnt a good day. The food was bad, the staff werent attentive, and I left feeling unhappy. Even though disappointments happen, its important to know when a situation isnt right and look for better options. Today taught me to value good service and respect as a customer, and not settle for a bad dining experience.

Great dog friendly pub in my neighbourhood and they even have a dog menu on the patio. The drinks are always great, and the staff is amazing. Particularly, Claudia and Robyn. Definitely worth checking out if you re near college park.

I really like this place. I like the food, and it is wheelchair accessible. But I got served a chicken bone in my taco, that wasnt that big for the price. I also ordered nachos with no cheese, and all they came with was cheese. They did give me a big slice of chocolate cake for my birthday and a discount, but that doesnt discount their other actions. Wheelchair accessibility: Its pretty wheelchair friendly, wide spaces in between the tables, no step to get inside.

My first time here. Claudia took care of our table and she was very friendly. We asked her to decrease the volume of the music if possible, and she was very respectful and understanding about it. Try this place! Its one of the good ones

Servers were great and food arrived relatively quickly. However the meatloaf dish was dreadful as it looked raw (but wasnt) in colour which was not appealing and it was tangy vinegar tasting and did not taste of meat. Broccoli very hard and very small smear of mashed potatoes. A more traditional slice of meatloaf was what I expected and not a baseball size of this mixture.

What a great surprise. I only chose to eat here because it was close to where I was staying. I didnt have high expectations but figured I would probably get a decent burger. I ordered the falafel on pita and a side greens salad. The food was excellent and the salad was one of the best Ive ever had. The atmosphere was equally pleasing. It was a Monday night so not a ton of people but didnt feel empty either. I remember thinking that this is a place I could see myself watching a hockey game in if I lived nearby. Service was friendly and efficient without being interruptive. Definitely would recommend for a casual night out.

Reservations at 7pm. Didnt get a drink until 745. Forgot my order and drink. Asked for a second beer. Never got it. Didnt eat until 915pm. Asked for our bill at 935pm. Didnt pay until 1030 at night. 3 and a half hours for over priced food. In my 41 years of life. This is far and away the worst dining experience Ive ever had.

We had such a great night at Pogue and will definitely be returning. The chicken pot pie was amazing great food all around. Also a nice atmosphere. Our server, Charlotte, was one of the highlights of our evening. Not only is she incredibly professional and great at her job, she s funny and friendly and smart, she felt like family! And boy does she know her cocktails. She s a cocktail recipe book! Lol. Anyway, she made the evening complete. We ll be going back for sure sooner than later!

I recently went for a late lunch and was quite satisfied with both the food and the service! The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and the food exceeded my expectations. They also offer daily deals that I m excited to come back for. With the weather warming up, it was lovely to sit on the patio and enjoy the great weather.

The lady behind the bar on March 21st has a few screws loose. We ordered drinks at the bar and then after suffering a mental breakdown for no reason, snatched a drink from one of our hands and threw it to the ground before kicking us out and not letting us pay our bill! All because one of us didn t have ID(the person without ID didn t order or touch any alcohol) She went on a rant about being there 15 years so I guess she s tired of being stuck there Lmao. Other workers seemed fed up working with her and watched awkwardly as it happened.

Overall everything was great service. Shout Out To the Bartenders, Claudia and Robyn Great dining experience and the best drinks with the Bartender. highly recommend to visit them. They are always friendly and takes good care of me and other guests, its amazing how they also jokes around with us like we do with them, highly recommend to visit them and the place they works at, Pogue Mahone. Honestly had a great experience, havent been down town for the longest time but Joey was so super inviting and showed us around the menu. Their chipotle club sandwich was a great suggestion, suggest you try it lol. Will be back !

This place is pretty much a hidden gem! They have great selection of food & beer and their daily specials are worth a try. I tried their fish & chips and it didn t disappoint. Their veggie gyoza are nice too. They also have a sobermeter and the bartenders are really friendly, specially carl! Vegetarian options: They have both vegetarian and vegan options on their menu.

Pogue s is a reliable bar that serves many corporate offices for after work drinks and snacks. Great shareable options and $10 off all wine bottles on Wednesday. Attended this week for a work function and we had amazing service. Huge thanks to Olivia!! She was attentive, personable, efficient, and kind. By the end of the night, she knew most of our names, moved us indoors after the patio got chilly with no issues and kept us laughing every time she swung by. So I went down on a rainy afternoon after work when I got of early. I usully get the subway but decided to drop in for a pint. Claudia served me and was a delightful lady. She told me the specials and recommended me her favorite. The food is top notch amd Im looking forward to going back weekly!!

Tacos were ok, nachos were pretty good, beer was very nice and the cocktail was amazing. Great service, nice atmosphere, warm decor. Very nice place to finish an evening out. Vegetarian options: Not a crazy amount but way more than some other pubs, well marked on the menu which is very appreciated.

This was my first and also my last time to ever step foot in this place. I attended a work function and as soon as I sat down, I poured a glass of water (bottles sitting on the tables). The water tasted like it was extracted from a toilet. It tasted, smelled and appeared off! In terms of lunch, I ordered the $24 smash cheeseburger (with added bacon) and fries. I specifically asked the server to ensure that the fries are salted straight out of the oil. The fries were presented to me cold, soggy and salt free (they likely salted cold fries which is pointless). The burger was absolutely horrible in every which way. The bun was soggy and fell apart as I was eating it and I ended up using a knife and fork to consume the patty. The bacon that was added tasted off and had what I would describe as a gamey flavor. I left most of the fries and most of the bun on the plate. Observations of other orders, led me to the conclusion that this place relies on its location for its traffic and revenue and not on food quality. The drinks were cold, which is the only thing that I would recommend. Eat elsewhere! For those giving positive reviews, you really need to explore other culinary options for a proper baseline of food quality. There was a person who I assume to be the manager who asked me how the food was...in fairness to him and to my coworkers, I didnt want to express myself publicly to embarrass him. So to that person who asked me how the food was....please see my honest answer above.

The food is just standard. Burger patty was too dry. I pointed out to the server and all i heard was sorry you felt it this way. Atmosphere is nice though if you are out there for some beers Food

Maybe it was the day I went but everything about this place was horrible. The worst burger I have had in my life and the chocolate cake was terrible. It is way over priced for the mediocre food they serve you.

Very nice atmosphere, great beer selection, and the food is good. If you get the specials, the drinks are a pretty good deal. Food is pretty expensive though. Service was not the best, we went on a fairly slow night and they were definitely understaffed.

I went there last night for dinner. The atmosphere, the food, and the service were outstanding. Especially our server Ryan. BUT, AND ITS A BIG BUT: NO IRISHMAN would ever order or serve a drink, or show a drink on the menu, known as a BLACK AND TAN . The Black and Tans were a British paramilitary group sent to Ireland by the British government after World War 1 to suppress the Irish independence movement. The Black and Tans beat, tortured, and killed innocent civilians, including women and children, and burned their homes to the ground. Black and Tan is an offensive and evil term in Ireland, evoking memories of the atrocities they committed against the Irish people. One of the worst atrocities was Bloody Sunday when the Black and Tans fired their rifles indiscriminately into the crowd at Croke Park in Dublin while innocent civilians watched a Gaelic football game. They killed fourteen civilians and injured another 60 innocent people. As a result, NO IRISH PUB should ever use that term BLACK AND TAN on their menu. It is insulting and insensitive towards the Irish people. Pogue Mahone should know better! What were you thinking?

The corned beef sandwich was fantastic! The only correction I had to make was asking the bartender to not call me sir. We ended up with dude. She was hilarious and very attentive. I forget her name, but she was great!

St. Paddys day drinks and food tonight at Pogues was fun, but Joey made it soooo much better!!! Swooped in with round after round and everything else we could need. What a gem!

Very good food and beers, cool and well decorated atmosphere. The bad point that deserves to be highlighted is that the attendant was more concerned with talking to her friend who was at the bar than with doing her job. Luckily, after a while another person came to help us, as the situation was really embarrassing.

Very nice atmosphere, great beer selection, and the food is good. If you get the specials, the drinks are a pretty good deal. Food : 4/5

The food is average. The portion size is bigger than I expected. Had it pre-ordered for take out to go. By the time i got there it was ready to pick up.

Edit: No manager ever actually contacted me and was ignore when I attempted to reach out I had informed the waiter of my gluten allergy and requested a gluten free bun for my burger. After eating half of it, it was apparent that they had served me a normal bun and am now considerably ill because of it. Its 2024 and it should not be difficult to request the necessary attention with food intolerances and allergies. Do not eat here if you are concerned for your own allergies.

Thank you for having great vegan options! I visited Toronto with a vegan friend earlier this week, and we had a hard time finding restaurants in this area with both regular and vegan dinner options. We found this pub and thankfully both enjoyed a nice dinner with drinks and both vegan and non-vegan options! The portion sizes were also very big which was great. Pogue is a local bar for locals. In that sense, i go there often. There is nothing much to complain about it. You can always go there and know what to expect. Each day, they have a special offer that keeps their prices low and almost unbeatable in the region. The offers vary from beer to wine and to drinks, depending on the day of the week.

Good food. Service a little slow but a nice relaxed atmosphere.

Standard pub with classic pub fare but food comes out quite slow. Joey is a great server, especially when the place is understaffed. Food is not bad in terms of flavour but is never quite hot enough, maybe because of their timing issues and its just sitting on the pass (telltale sign being the plate is hot but the food is not).
