I recently visited The Gull and, while the staff were kind and welcoming and atmosphere had a pleasant vibe, the food unfortunately didn’t meet my expectations. I ordered the Fried Chicken Sandwich, and it was disappointingly dry and lacked flavour. The side Caesar Salad tasted overwhelmingly like plain mayo, missing the tang and zest you’d expect from a caesar salad!
I’m so shocked. Came here to enjoy some food and the hockey game. We ordered the spinach dip and buffalo cauliflower bites. The spinach dip came with chips, and they were completely stale. We let our server know and our sever named Mariano and he said “oh that’s the first time anyone has ever said that but okay” and then proceeded to abruptly rip the plates from our tables. He then came back and said “I tried the chips and they were fine by the way”. I let him know that we were hungry and would eat really anything, so the fact that we sent it back said a lot. He continued to argue with us about how the chips weren’t stale. At this point I was fuming because I had never in my life experienced service like this in my entire life. After 5 minutes of him full fledge arguing with us that the chips “were not stale” and this “how they make it Mexico” I had completely lost my appetite. I didn’t expect for Mariano who is apparently the manager (after I asked for a manager) to act like this and still hold the title of a manager. We ended leaving and not touching any of the food because at this point if Mariano’s service was like this AND he’s the manager I can’t imagine what they would have done to our food in the back. I’m extremely traumatized and will be boycotting this place from my family and friends.
Walked in at the nice weather and we enjoyed the patio. Tried different beers and had cauliflowers. They have multiple vegetarian menus.
A great little spot on the beaches. Have been a few times before this one but got around to my review! Prices are what you would expect to pay. With most things being $15-$25. They do offer some higher end items. Like we came on a Sunday and they had a prime rib dinner for like $35. My partner always gets the special as every time we have come it’s Caribbean themed or in that flavour family. Today it was jerk chicken tacos with a pineapple and all the fixens. So the special is usually a safe and tasty choice. They have two patios in the summer so plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. The staff are friendly and fast, we have found based on past visits. Good selection of beers and all the standard drinks. Overall it’s a moderately priced place for a casual dinner. Will of course be coming again. It’s a local staple in the beaches. One thing is my partner and I usually share an app and a main as the potions are large. When it says it’s for two people, it could probably be one person’s meal. For instance I got the picture poutine and couldn’t finish it on my own.
Mashed Potato Pie? What happened to the glorious shepherds pie that once was?! The meaty bottom layer was begrudgingly excluded, flavors lacking. $20 for a meatless shepherds pie! Can’t recommend, and would be cautious to try another platter at this level of disappointment. Cant say I’d recommend stopping in. One plus, the bartender and or server were great. Friendly and pleasant however that wont be enough to stop in to solve a hunger craving!
My second time here. The food is a 10 out of 10. The daily specials are phenomenal. The beer choices are great. The atmosphere is a typical old English pub style. But I do have to say that the food is absolutely amazing. I had the curry chicken and it was a 10. I had the beef dip. I highly recommend this old English pub. You will not be disappointed. Third time here and came back for the Curry Chicken meal and it happens to be Wings Wednesday. Once again this place is awesome
Went to Gull & Firkin this past weekend and it was amazing. The server was so nice and the food was delicious. I had the spicy plant based wings (probably my fave soy based wings ever!) with sweet potato fries and my friend had the steak and fries - which she enjoyed. Highly recommend!
Stopped by to watch the Jazz Fest from the patio. They have tables on the street and real patio upstairs that gives a great view of the street and allows for people watching. Despite being extremely busy, the staff was very nice and we received a great service. The food is typical bar fare, was tasty and delivered fairly quickly again despite being at 100% capacity.
Came in before a show and back after because Jordan was fantastic. Next time Im going to a show at History Ill be back.

Am beaches local. Ordered nachos and beer, took over 30 minutes, tried to be patient as they were very busy. When Nachos arrived, they were so burnt, we accidentally ate the wax paper stuck to them. We got the nachos for free, but we are still grossed out.
25 to 30 minutes to get dinner made and nobody was eating in there don t understand it. Service was very very slow.
I ve had the French onion soup and the cookies and ice-cream. Both good! Hung out here twice with my run club and they treat us so well. The patio is perfect and so is the service. Food : 5/5
Summer time favorite patio, a great place for people watching while having a pint. I recommend trying the daily specials.

The patio was spectacular, the service staff was super fun and attentive beet salad, artichoke dip, wings, sheppards pie - yummmmm second time there, I recommend, for a date, family meeting, solo beer at the bar - it literally fits every profile :))

Such a wonderful atmosphere both inside and out on the patio. Clean, comfortable and the food is incredible. Had the cauliflower bites which were to die for. Will be back asap
Lovely place on Queen St in the Beach and even sitting on the patio we were not affected by traffic noise. A great place to meet and people watch. Very busy so book or come early.
I honestly cannot say enough positive things about this restaurant- the food is always amazing, great specials, fantastic atmosphere. The best part by far though is the service & amazing people that work there- Dana & Neil are always so warm & welcoming & the greatest server in there is Marino. Everyone goes out of their way to always make sure that you re happy & have everything you need. This is my daughter & I s go to place every weekend

Don t believe the menu. Could barely even see any beets in the beet salad and no creamy parmesan sauce or pesto oil on the butternut squash ravioli like zero! Instead they thought they switch to a tasteless brown butter sauce and no one would notice the difference? And don t even get me started on the crispy calamari platter. Pathetic. Not worth the price given the quality of the food I hear the wings were good tho.. but then again maybe that same person would ve eaten the brown butter sauce and not even noticed
The food here is terrible. We ordered chicken fingers and fish & chips and both were clearly frozen from a box and tasted stale. You d expect that a place that charges $20 for chicken fingers would at least make them in house. I don t recommend this place unless you re coming for a drink or two. There are much better places in the area.

Amazing experience! I just moved to the beaches and stumbled upon this place when walking up and down Queen. The ambiance is nice, the food was amazing, and the service was top notch! I got tacos for taco Tuesday and a few beers. My server Sydney was acomodating and friendly. Will definitely be back here as the weather warms up. Highly recommend! Bonus: the play all the big soccer matches! And I m sure other popular sports haha.
Closest to an old style English pub on Queen. I need to try the pies, but its a pretty reliable spot.

The staff were really lovely, super attentive, and all very smiley. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. The highlights of the baseball game from earlier in the day were also on, so if youre wanting to watch the latest sports game or the highlights they have you covered. Im visiting from the UK, but, I shall definitely be back when Im next in Toronto
Great and friendly service, they let us take our bikes to their patio. We just had drinks and the service was fast. Ive been to many other Firkin locations and their food (even if we had none there) has been always very consistant.
Last night we arrived at The Gull and Firkin expecting our reserved table and found no one checked for our reservations. What could have been a disaster with live band playing and our birthday celebration, turning out to be a Wonderful evening due to one person, our server Sydney! She was amazing and considerate! She was very busy, but never made us feel neglected! Thank You Sydney

Order from Uber: Beet Salad and Mac and Cheese: Pros: generous portions all around. Salad was fresh. Mac and cheese: noodles cooked perfectly, and would have been excellent, BUT it was way too salty, I will need to modify the dish to make it eatable. Salt can always be added once prepared. This is just so overpowering my tongue is burning.
This is our favorite place to eat at the beach. The patio is lovely, the food is good and the service is great.

Nice pub, I use it as a go to later evening in the beaches when everything starts to close. But the food and service are hit and miss. Probably avoid food in general
Was a really hot Jazz Festival day and the AC was either really really trying, or just the vents were going. Staff were doing their best, and a manager did a great job mitigating the insane day that it was. That goes especially for the kitchen that was trying to keep up. The food was still really good at the end of the day, and everyone at our table was doing swell. Kid-friendliness: Still seemed to have room for a few kiddos during the daytime hours (if truly needed as a fellow parent).

Always like going to The Gull when in Toronto. Didnt have food but it did look really good. Had some really good cocktails, and they serve a very good pint of Guinness.

Just moved to the area one of the nicest places Ive been staff are so friendly felt like I was at home Tyler the bartender was so attentive I dropped my napkin and was alot instantly brought another one without being asked ill be coming here alot more often !

I met some friends to watch some fantastic live music ( Raina and the Wranglers ) and had a great time!! Both the waitress and the bar maid were excellent, I will be back again!!

Definitely a neighbourhood restaurant (even though part of a chain). The team at The Gull always make you feel welcome. Food consistently good and always a good line up of beers on tap.

These good reviews are surprising to me. What I experienced last night felt like I was in a movie. I have previously worked in a pub for years so whenever I go out I m always pretty understanding of my servers and any issues that come up. But what I experienced felt like discrimination. I get it your in a great location and it s busy, so you get to have rude servers? You get to forget to put our food in and have us wait for 2 hours for a burger, nachos and soup. Are server seemed like she was on something. Really sad that s the standard you allow.

Stopped by with some friends after a Concert in the area, and everyone in the group was glad we did stop! Excellent service, we sat inside but there is an outdoor seating section for warmer nights. Food was delish, four out of four orders and we loved every bite of them! Not to mention the drinks. Great atmosphere from both the staff and other patrons, would definetly visit again!
Was going to go to The Stone Lion, but there was a long queue for their patio. The patio at The Gull is small but got the last table. The service was fast and efficient and the food was great; best sweet potato fries around.

Placed an order for the daily special Cod taco. Server told me I could get it with a lettuce wrap and side salad for an additional $2. I was served last at the table of six, 55 minutes after placing the order, two soft shell cod tacos arrived. The server did not check in after the groups first bite and I had to hail her to take it back since I had ordered the taco with a lettuce wrap and a side salad. It took 10 more minutes to get the lettuce wrap taco that I had ordered. I took a bite and I was astounded, the Cod was hard, chewy and had the texture of leather. Completely inedible. I gave a piece to friend at the table and he laughed at how completely inedible it was. I told the server and she took it back again. 5 more minutes went by and finally my side salad arrived. At this point almost everyone was finished eating. At least the side ceaser salad was good. Server came back and told me not to worry and that my meal was compt. Okay thats fine but I was hoping she would have asked if I wanted a different meal but I guess she didnt care that I was hungry. The cherry on top was when the bill came and my $2 side salad was actually $9.95. I asked her why she told me it was $2 and all she said was Im sorry that was my mistake.
Just returned from there, forced to leave after waiting over fifty minutes for food to arrived. Only order Cobb salad and a sandwich, the place was half empty and majority were only drinking. So no reason for a delay on something that should take a kitchen 5 minutes to make.

Good comfort food and nice pub environment. Took some time for orders to arrive and to wave down a server for the bill but otherwise a decent experience!
Lunch Service on a Sunday was extremely slow, even though restaurant was at half capacity . Waitress got orders wrong. Food was mediocre at best .

So to rank this properly I have to say the food is absolutely delicious and the service is better than any 5 star restaurant Ive been to. They brought our food very quickly and made sure if we needed anything. They were very attentive and kind. I live the service, made the experience a hundred times better. Very reasonably priced, would recommend this place to anyone who wants a great first date place.
The service is always good, but recently the food has not been as good as in the past. Recently had an Eggs Benny for brunch and the sauce was separated and slightly curdled and quite sour tasting. I would love to see the good getting better again as my friend often wants to go here when I visit.

Went to a show at History a few blocks down. Aimlessly wandered in here after the show with friends and the vibe was fantastic. Ashah was a super sweet and accommodating bartender. If you want a comfy cool spot hit this place up.
After a walk on the Toronto beaches we stopped at the Gull and Furkin. I had a steak Sandwich, all the meals we had were very good. A must stop if you are down on the beaches.

Sat at the bar, as they were fully booked with reservations. Bartender was fantastic , friendly. The steak was not so good. Did not have much flavor and was pretty tough and was the grassfed one that was more expensive. Veggies were good as well.
They have a good menu and I would definitely go here again.
