Well….. I have NEVER not liked a ramen place till last night. To start, the phone number for this place was not even on service. You could not reach the restaurant. When we got there the 3 girls in charge they seamed disorganized an lost the entire time we were there . We ordered the friend chicken, it was actually good, we also ordered the octopus and it was ok. The ramen in the other hand it was TERRIBLE, the best part which it should be the broth had no flavour, it tasted like hot water with soya sauce. I asked for a spicy option and the waitress said that I could add spicy oil to an extra charge 🥴. I used the entire thing in my ramen and it was flavourless 🙄with no spiciness at all. This place was extremely disappointing OVERPRICED and I don’t recommend it to anyone. I noticed that the costumers beside us had left all the broth in their plates also. NEVER going back this place again.

Best ramen in the city. You can taste the chicken, clams and pork balanced beautifully in the creamy and light broth. Noodle texture was perfect. Agedashi tofu was also good. So why is it a 4 star? Service. When we came in the place was very empty, only 1 other table. We were put at a small table for 2 to the side. When 2 other groups of 2 came in they were greeted with “sit anywhere you’d like!” So of course they sat at larger tables. On top of that we couldn’t fit all the food on our table anyway so the same server had to move a table next to us to make it bigger. Don’t understand why we weren’t given the same liberty. So unfortunate, could’ve easily been a 5 star.

Yesterday, I was craving ramen and was so excited to try a new spot, but unfortunately, it didn’t go well for me. I ordered the marinated cucumbers as an appetizer, and they were so good! The wasabi really hit the spot—probably the best marinated cucumbers I’ve ever had. I also ordered the Brussels sprouts, which were just okay. My partner got the fried chicken and octopus, and they were fine as well. However, the ramen was a big disappointment. There was only one vegetarian ramen option, and you couldn’t choose the type of noodles you wanted. The lack of vegetarian options for ramen was really upsetting to me. On top of that, the ramen itself wasn’t flavorful, and you had to pay extra for hot sauce. However the extra egg i additionally added was really good. The service was also disappointing—the server couldn’t answer any of our questions, which made the experience even worse. Unfortunately, I will not be coming back to this restaurant.

Follow @bredgyeats for more food reviews and posts! I was racking my head over choosing which broth I wanted, but then I remembered I could just get both. The clear shoyu broth is bursting with chicken flavours, with a drizzle of chicken oil and an earthy mushroom tare that the perfectly springy ramen noodles soak up nicely to throw a giant umami punch into your mouth. The pork cha shu is sliced super thin for an ultra-tender bite, while the chicken is poached to juicy perfection. To keep your mouth excited, there's a mushroom wonton, marinated bamboo shoots, sliced leeks and a sheet of nori. However, the creamy shio highlights the chicken flavours even more, where the chicken bones are blended into the broth for an even richer taste, elevated with the salt tare and topped with red onions and clams.

I wish I had gone here sooner, truly an amazing experience. The ramen was delicious and rich and the broth was drank to the last drop. The dumplings were tasty, juicy, and fresh. The drinks were also wonderful and interesting presented in beautifully thin glassware. The atmosphere is unbeatable, just dark enough with glowy pockets of light throughout the space and candles on each table. Japanese and midcentury style make up the interior with knickknacks filling in the spaces between speakers and bottles. Wholly space defining is an impressive sound set up bumping vinyl loud enough for a Friday night, but not too loud to overshadow a late night conversation. And the service was incredible with friendly informative and personable staff serving drinks explaining their preferences and giving detailed information on the menu. The kitchen is open all the way to 1:30 am too which is an impressive feat. Each aspect of the space, the food and drinks, and the service worked to create a pretty perfect experience and I would highly recommend!

Everything about this restaurant was fabulous! Our server recognized my partners Berserk tattoo and started a great bond. The spicy cucumber appetizer was delicious and different. We absolutely loved them! I ordered the vegan miso with egg and regular egg noodles and it was literally the best ramen I’ve ever tried. My partner saw that the duck umami had previously received poor reviews and wanted to give it a try. He rated it a solid 10/10, said it was unreal! He’s been ranting and raving about it to all his friends. Service and staff were great, they also took my shellfish allergy very serious, washrooms were clean, the music set the vibe! We will be back very soon :)

My latest experience at Kaminari Ramen Bar was, as usual, terrific. This is one of my favourite locals and I can never seem to get enough of their appetisers and ramens! They also serve delicious cocktails and the staff are highly hospitable and make you feel like you are in a cool place. I was with my friend for the first time and he really liked the food! Kaminari Ramen Bar does not disappoint. Great company/staff, excellent atmosphere and exceptional food! 5 stars all over! Sharing pictures from a recent visit. =)

Really lovely place in Parkdale, they did a great job with the interior and the back heated patio is so cozy. They provided blankets! Chicken Karaage is incredible- but massive portion so would get the 3 piece instead. Happy and surprised to see sapporo on tap (8$ for 16oz) AND Sapporo black. Duck ramen was fantastic- not heavy but super umami. My friend got the creamy chicken which i would recommend. The creaminess! The clam taste!! The staff here are very lovely and you can tell the ramen is made with so much precision and love. Would return as the food and ambience is fantastic.

Kaminari is undeniably one of my fav new spots in Parkdale. The ramen is always delicious and I have always recommended many friends to try it out since its Opening. Had an amazing Duck umami soy ramen yesterday in their heated patio for lunch. Recommend checking it out any time of the year, they rotate their menus during the seasons and sometimes have pop up events like Oden night. Also there is bartender that is pretty cool, socialable and adorable the last few times weve eaten there in the evenings! Vegetarian options: They have a vegetarian ramen. In the summer the had yuzu chilled soupless ramen also that was superb Kid-friendliness: Ive taken my 7 yr old nephew here that loved it. For toddlers the outdoor patio will provide sufficient space to place a stroller

I visited this restaurant yesterday and ordered a ramen and takowasabi. Bit surprised to see the takowasabi served with seasoned seaweed that seemed store-bought. The ramen also didn t meet my expectations, as it came with seemed like prosciutto slices instead of traditional chashu pork. It felt like the restaurant dont put much effort into the food and focused more on the atmosphere and music than on the taste.

September 23, 2024

We visited on a weeknight - there was one other table of 2 and 1 person sitting at the bar. We ordered a beer, an appetizer and two ramen. It took an hour to receive our appetizer (the ebi siu-mai), during which time two other tables of 2 were seated and received their entrees. We only saw our server once and had to walk up to the bar to ask them to just cancel the ramen so we could pay the bill and go elsewhere. That s when it got weird with the server ranting that this was his last shift cause he d been fired and had zero motivation to check on us. I guess +1 for the honesty but just a weird way to end the experience. The only food we got to try was the ebi siu-mai (came with 3 pieces with soy sauce and a wasabi mustard sauce on the side) - the wasabi mustard was the highlight, which says a lot. The decor was nice though.

The servers and chefs here go above and beyond in all ways to ensure a beautiful meal for you and anyone else you bring to this establishment. I was blown away by the ramen here. The noodles are the best Ive had in the city before. They are the right thickness to gather soup in each bite with the right level of chewy and soft. I couldnt help but order extra noodles to finish the rest of my soup. I had the Tokyo soy and the protein that came with it was so delicate and full of flavour. I will certainly be back to re-experience my now all time favorite ramen in the city.

Hole in the wall ramen with a back side patio, this place has an old fashioned, south west japanese ramen, leading to a creamy, incredibly rich ramen broth. I ordered the paitan soy ramen and its definitely one of the richest ramen Ive had in recent memory. The staff are incredibly friendly and were able to ask the kitchen staff about the ramen origins for me, which I greatly appreciated. Troy was particularly friendly and, while its not in my normal stomping grounds, I would definitely recommend if youre looking for a delicious bowl of ramen in a cozy bar like space. The service was a little slow, which was fine for me as I wasnt in a rush, but food arrived quickly. Theyre also open late at night for midnight food runs!

I had high hopes when I visited this ramen place, I ordered duck ramen and tuna tartare but they tasted nothing special. Duck ramen contained only 4 thin pieces of duck and the ramen itself is of normal quality. Tuna tartare is ok but a small plate is $16?! Wow lol... First time visiting Kaminari Ramen Bar and tried their Creamy Shio Ramen and Duck Umami Soy Ramen. Coming out I can definitely conclude this is my favourite ramen bar in Toronto. One of the very few ramen bars out there where you could actually taste and appreciate the original ingredients that went into making the broth. The Shio Ramen chicken broth was rich and packed with umami, you can easily tell that a lot of time and ingredients was spent to make the broth. I also appreciated how the ramen was garnished with scallions and shallots as it helps cut through the richness of a chicken soup ramen as you progress. Like some other chicken soup ramen I had in the past, the foam not only contributed to the creamy texture of the broth, but also created the silky white appealing broth that we see, great that this restaurant is also taking that extra step. The noodles were definitely cooked to my liking, not too soft so that it had a good level of chewiness. The chicken was very tender and the pork was also cooked pretty well. The egg was also a good addition, it was well-marinated and jammy. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I definitely look forward to visiting again.

Welcome Kaminari Ramen Bar! Please stay. Outstanding addition to West Queen West. Had the creamy shio ramen with a chicken broth base. Probably the best Ive had in Toronto since the ramen craze a decade ago, which was followed by so many mediocre places. Also ordered the tuna tataki with seaweed and agedashi tofu with tempura mushrooms. Both were exceptional. And great sake options. If you dont think this ramen shop is worth the price you have no idea the work it takes to create these amazing dishes. This was a perplexing restaurant, and I wanted to love it. The appetizers and ramen were all well done, albeit on the pricier side compared to its peers. Having clams inside the ramen was an interesting and appreciated take. Unlike other reviews my issue wasn t the $23 ramen. The thing that really left a sour taste was the pricing of beer. Why in gods name was a pint of Asahi $16, are we at a Leafs game? It s a pretty insulting price point even in this age of inflated restaurant prices. Even beer at the cities best and most expense restaurants don t reach these prices. I just can t recommend this place to others knowing that they ll likely be taken aback by this.

Visited on Feb 23/24 around 530PM for Dine In. This place was high to try on my tour of Ramen across the city since it was recommended by the Ramen Guy on insta. The atmosphere in this little Ramen bar was just perfect and the staff were super attentive. Definitely a good date night spot or for a few friends as this is a smaller place. I got the Creamy Shio and this flavour was unlike any creamy chicken broth Ive had. So foamy and the flavor was elevated and subtle at the same time. The clams were such a delicious touch and of course I had to get an egg (was the first time Ive had egg at a Ramen that wasnt cut in half though). Definitely add this place to your list of Ramen bars to try. A lot of other tables had apps and drinks too so give those a try too.

Out of all of that, tuna takes the cake but they all had such a twist in flavor it s worth trying a dish you like just to test their take on it. Definitely going back to try the mackerel sando!

We came here on a Saturday for lunch. There was no wait and we were quickly seated. We tried the creamy soy and clear tokyo shio noodles. Would recommend the creamy one if you prefer something with stronger flavour. We also ordered the fried edamame and it was amazing! Crispy and well seasoned! Will definitely come again!

I want to start off by saying the service and vibe of the restaurant were amazing. Perfect for a nice date night with some ambiance but also if you just want to stop by for a quick solo meal. The staff were so attentive and very friendly. Unfortunately the food fell a bit short of expectations given the price. Nothing was bad but just missed in terms of flavours. I get that this isn t your typical Japanese style ramen so maybe that s where the disconnect was but I felt it lacked cohesion and focus. To start, why was there parsley garnish on everything? It lacked purpose on the pork sando and the flavour didn t work with the ramen. I m a firm believer in that garnish should serve a purpose and can be eaten with the food without detracting from dish. The sando was good but could have used a touch more acidity and cabbage. Pork was tender, seasoned and cooked well. Bread was milk bread so you can t go wrong. We had the creamy shio ramen and the duck ramen. The creamy shio ramen had pork which was cooked perfectly, chicken that was tender though lacking in flavour and the clams were honestly a bit lost. Had there been more clam flavour in the broth I would better understand their addition. The creamy foam topping was visually appealing but not sure it added to the overall taste though the noodles were nice and firm to my liking. Broth just tasted like fortified chicken broth, nothing spectacular but nothing offensive (Except for the parsley). The duck ramen was overly soy forward. Too much tare and not enough fat maybe? Duck and noodles were cooked well. We added the soy marinated egg which was very nice and jammy but maybe an agitama style egg is preferable. For the premium price of the ramen compared to other veteran ramen places in the city, there s opportunity to fine tune the execution a bit. Individual elements shone through but when put together, the end product was a bit distracted.

Their ramen broth could be more flavorful but the noodle texture was excellent. Seasoned soy egg could have had more seasoning. Price was a little on the high side but portions are big. Agedashi tofu was disappointing because the cornstarch breading soon became gummy and there was not enough crispiness to it. Wine and cocktails looked nice but wine by glass was expensive. Beer selection pretty weak for a place which is trying to be a restaurant/bar. Set-up is not ideal for a bar but music was great. If drink prices were more reasonable, I could see more diners ordering a drink with a meal but no one wants to pay 24$ for ramen and 21$ for a glass of wine. I think if they addressed these issues and offered more toppings for ramen, they might be able to make this place work but as it is now, I probably wouldn t go out of my way for it. Wheelchair accessibility: It seems like there was no ramp and the entrance is a step up from ground level.

Ordered a cocktail and beef carpaccio as an appetizer, nice presentation and quite yummy. Cocktail was a bit on a sweet side (for me), Our server was very chatty, high jacked the conversation on every table, and had an unbearable cigarette odor. I got my order Clear Tokyo Ramen first. Had to wait for (roughly) 10 min for my friends to get their ramen dishes. Wasn t able to eat mine coz( taste and smell was off). Our server did not come to check on the food. When my friends were done , he noticed my food was untouched. And he just made a comment , not your vibe? . And took the dish away . And charged me the full amount. My friends enjoyed their ramen( Creamy Shio + egg ). Hence the 3 star.

Despite the long-awaited anticipation, Kaminari Ramen left a bittersweet taste. The charming, minimalist ambiance and impeccable service set high expectations. We started with the Vietnamese beef carpaccio, accompanied by confit shallots, peanuts, and lime served alongside a sesame rice cracker as the eating vessel. The Brussels sprouts covered in pecorino and a soy butter were overpowered from the charred flavour of the burnt sprout leaves. Both appetizers albeit good, felt out of place and had nothing that stood out. The star attraction, the ramen, fell short of the elevated promise seen in pictures. The creamy shios broth, with its overpowering chicken essence, felt more like a creamy chicken noodle soup than a nuanced ramen experience. The trio of meats pork chashu, chicken chashu, and clams lacked the desired harmony. Meanwhile, the duck shio, despite the tender duck, struggled under the weight of an overpowering bitterness in the broth. Kaminari Ramen seems to grapple with a delicate balance; while innovation is admirable, the complexity might be bordering on excess. In the realm of ramen, where less often proves to be more.

Kaminari Ramen Bar is a subjective and unique experience to check out. Located right in the heart of Downtown Toronto on Queen Street West in the Parkdale region, Kaminari Ramen Bar delivers on specialty made ramen bowls with unique ingredients and unique tastes. The staff at Kaminari Ramen Bar are a delight as they are very helpful and help you choose whats on the menu. Spending of the menu, the menu at Kaminari Ramen Bar is very small but delicious. You do have to choose between 5 - 6 Ramen bowls of your choice and each Ramen bowl has an addition on a boiled egg to be added on top. You do have the ability to experience a unique blend of cocktails that are available to you and the beer selection to choose from is very small. I had the Clear Tokyo Shio which delivered on taste and an authentic bowl of ramen with mixed vegetables and ingredients that got to my taste buds. Apart from the menu, the atmosphere at the restaurant is very chill and romantic. You do get to experience a candle light for each table and the venue is small enough to fit about 20-25 people. I really enjoyed it and I hope the restaurant does well and stays open into the summer.

Came in for lunch with my partner and ordered the vegan curry and a bowl of ramen. The service was quite friendly, and the place is really cute. Very minimalist and aesthetic. The reason for my 3 star is because the food was mediocre and very overpriced in my opinion. My curry was pretty decent, but it was >$20 without any protein - just plain curry. My partner didn t really like his ramen either - and it was >$20 without an egg. Flavour was underwhelming and noodles were not the best. Would not return again for a meal, but might be worth a shot to stop by for a cocktail. They did have this one sparkling green tea drink that was superb. Would love to see this place upscale their food game - great service location and vibe otherwise. Vegetarian options: Curry was vegan

A newer addition to the ramen scene in downtown Toronto. Had high expectations given the high google reviews, but realized the whole area is likely a little overrated. We had both the creamy and clear shio ramen. The broth was decently rich. The noodles were a huge disappointment and undercooked. The toppings average at best with poorly seasoned pork. The pricing was comparatively higher for the same portion size. As someone who has tried most ramen chains in the downtown area, I would recommend an alternative place. There are just better options around.

To be honest idk why this resturant has such a great rating, but u may disagree, but here is my response to this Ramen Bar. Well, once I was given the food, the first thing was that the display was just making me have second thoughts on trying it. And after taking my first bite, the noodles were pretty noodly but the soup was just too salty, and I am just not a salt guy. Moving on we have the service, well in my opinion I dont care about service that much and to me it is just a pretty good service. And finally the atmosphere, well the most important thing was that the black tables were sticky, and it was not making me comfortable, but the candle was a pretty good touch though. Anyway I cam here expecting it to be a great resturant (cuz of rating), but left with a disapointed face.

Came into Kaminari during their soft opening during a recent trip to Toronto. The ramen resembled very much like the ones I had in Tokyo last year. I am a little bit of a purist when it comes to soups and of the 3 I tried, my favorite was the clear Tokyo shio which is a chicken broth base. Make sure to try the beef carpaccio and mackerel sando sandwiches, both were very memorable flavors. As for drinks, I had a milk-washed Negroni, they have Asahi on tap, and it was nice to see that they had non alcoholic options as well as there were people in my party who did not drink. Service was fast and friendly, candles lit on tables adds to the nice ambiance. They also have an outdoor patio in the back which I d imagine would be a cool place to dine during summer nights. Overall if you re craving for Tokyo styled ramen, you should come and check them out.

Delicious ramen, if a little expensive. You can tell theyve spent a lot of time making the broth, its very clear and not heavy at all. Its a very refreshing bowl of ramen with chicken broth rather than pork. My one note would be that all main dishes for a table should go out all at once. Our table was served 2 dishes at a time with a delay between each 2 bowl served, considering broth would have been made ahead of time, service to the table should be successive. Keep in mind that we had a table of 8 so I can understand that there is a delay for that many bowls.

Nice noodles and broth, with the creamy one being especially rich and complex. The toppings are nicely cooked as well, but offering just one piece of thin meat each seems a bit lacking for the price. The price of ramen has also increased by a dollar or two since the soft opening, and adding an egg now costs $2.50, whereas it was included before. You can see photos of the recent menu prices on Google maps. In total, this means roughly a $5 increase in just a few months for a comparable ramen experience. Worth trying but a repeat visit is unlikely.

Really great vibe and service, excellent sake, but both the appetizer and ramen were lacking flavour. The creamy soy ramen was unique but not in an especially tasty way. Disappointing given all the hype.

I have been to over 15+ ramen joints in toronto/markham. This is by far the best one and its not even close. I have been to this restaurant 5 times over the past 2 months. I have just got back from a trip to Japan this year too, and I have to say. This ramen joint is better than many of the ramen places I tried in Osaka/Tokyo/Fukuoka. Each individual ingredient has great quality and fits well together. I recommend getting the foam version if you like a creamer soup. I liked the shio slightly more because it was less salty but it is personal preference.

I was expecting it to be just another fancy ramen bar vibe type thing but it exceeded my expectations. It was really good. The tuna tartare and creamy shio ramen were so good. Food just reminded me of what I had back when I was in japan perfectly balanced in flavour and texture. 11/10 would recommend!

A must-visit for ramen lovers! The broth is rich and flavorful, simmered to perfection, and the noodles are just the right texture. Each bowl is a hearty, soul-warming experience. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, making it a great spot for both quick lunches and relaxed dinners. The staff are friendly and make you feel right at home. Highly recommended for an authentic ramen experience!

their ramen is damn worth the price, but its the atmosphere Ill come back for. Also, their pitcher of Asahi is great value! (for Toronto :)

Ramen was tasty, but the portion of the protein was way too little, especially with the higher price tag.

The cold shishito peppers in ponzu sauce were yummy! Tropical tasting. The ramen (soy, clear) was very tasty. Noodles cooked well and char siu had a nice flavour. Taking off a star for the extra charge of $2.50 for an egg, bringing the cost of a bowl of ramen to almost $25. Although I liked the ramen, it wasn t better than other notable spots (Isshin, mainly) therefore I won t be going back as other places offer better value and comparable (if not better?) food.

saw a video of a new ramen place & had to check it out! food: I tried a creamy shio ramen and the soup itself is delicious, but the toppings were a bit off personally I m more accustomed to having chashu slices and they offered more of a charcuterie board esque meat taste which was sort of a disappointment for me the ramen s decent, but is on the pricier side ($20 for shoyu/shio with a creamy base, $22 for clear) with an additional $2.5 to add an egg as well place itself: it s a cute little place that could be a cute date spot! one thing I did notice is that the washrooms are a little tiny & I almost struggled to get in & out hahah overall: it wasn t up my alley and it s a bit too expensive for what it was, but I can see some people enjoying it!

First and foremost the service and attentiveness of the staff was great. The ramen was fine and in my opinion nothing to write home about but the chicken broth was very nice. The real stars of the show were the appetizers and I would come back just for those. The agedashi tofu is one of the best Ive had, wings were perfectly cooked, seasoned, sized, and juicy. The beef carpaccio was an interesting take, great fresh flavours, i only wish the flavour/taste of the beef was able to show through a bit more.
