The place is super small so it's full very fast. You have a time limit to eat. The food is great though! But there is a long wait if you come while the place is packed. The staff were nice and prompt with everything! Takoyaki was delicious and the ramen was pretty good! They don't have a huge selection of ramen but it's good enough
Went in with high expectations and it was a huge disappointment Food is the most downside of all, karaage chicken and tonkatsu pork was dry, then came the noodles, the worst one was the spicy red ramen, soup overly sweet and beef was hard and chewy. Overall the desserts were good but everything is consider a bit pricey The place can sit only 20 customers, so tiny that makes it busy and packed all day long. Not worth it
I was in the area and was looking for a bite to eat then came across this ramen spot online. It came to my surprise that I found out this spot was featured on the Toronto Michelin guide. I went with their classic ramen as it seems to be the popular option. The portions were a bit small but the quality was amazing. The broth was light but still flavourful without feeling heavy like the usual tonkotsu broth. Downside the space is a bit small so if you’re planning to go with a group probably best to call ahead to get a seat or come during off peak hours. However, it’s a great spot for solo or pairs as they were more seating options.
When I saw it had a Michelin star, I thought the ramen would be amazing. It was good, but I don’t think Michelin star level. The pork belly was not melt in your mouth soft like I expected…it was tough. The broth was tasty and texture is the noodles was good though. I think it was the pork belly that brought it down a star. Also had a cheesecake…tasted like laughing cow cheese with jam…my kid liked it, but I don’t think that is worth the price.
Man, Musoshin is tough for me to review. Don’t get me wrong, it is good; the servers are all polite and attentive, the restaurant dynamic is charming with the staff having fun among themselves lightening up the mood, and the ramen is also good. So why is it tough for me to review? Well, it’s because for once I cannot see the vision of my Michelin reviewer overlords. Like I said, I like Musoshin, they had great ramen, the problem is that every ramen is great ramen, so what makes this one Michelin recommended? To be honest, I don’t know. But hey, I am just me, a less than amateur food reviewer and at end of the day I had a good time at Musoshin. Thus, I recommend coming here if you want good ramen.
Everything tasted well. However, portions were pretty minuscule, $18.50 for a small bowl of ramen with little noodles and 2 paper thin slices of chashu. Presentation for the karaage was poor, looked like something from an all you can eat restaurant. Still hungry after what was ordered, was gonna order more but given what was already served, decided not to. Very minimal service provided. Once again, food was good, but value was poor.
We came on a Friday evening to Musoshin Ramen as a party of two to celebrate my friend's birthday. The service was fantastic. As soon as we sat down, we were served water. When we checked out the menu, we found the dishes we wanted to eat and had some questions before ordering. The waiter was knowledgeable and answered our questions and took our order. The food came out promptly, and it was so delicious! Both the meat-based and vegan broths were so delicious, and the noodles were chewy. The meats were grilled beautifully and with the special you get all 3 kinds: beef, chicken and pork which is really nice. The one thing both my friend and I appreciated was that the food came out hot, but not boiling hot to the point where we couldn't enjoy it right away. We got another vegan broth to go when leaving because my other friend, after hearing about how good it is, asked us to bring her food. The atmosphere was great, too. They had Japanese music playing in the background soft enough that you could hold a conversation with no problems. I can definitely see why this restaurant has been on the Michelin guide for the last 3 years.
Drove An hour n Toronto traffic to come here. Tucked away in a one way street. Uniquely authentic ramen house from Kyoto, Japan. Even staff are true Japanese, not yet well versed in English. I order the mild 🌶️ spicy ramen with beef tenderloin, taste rich, and noodles are bouncy soft not overcooked. I can tell that kitchen staff at the open kitchen are really into their craft. Tonkatsu is overdone a bit, crunchy little burnt. I ned to down the bits with water. You can order extra broth for 2 bucks, eggs 2 bucks, and noodles 2 bucks. I thoroughly enjoyed the taste. Friendly staff provided a welcoming vibe. Parking is free in front of store. Dangerous challenging stairs to the washrooms in the basement. We are lucky to have so many authentic ramen chains opening in Toronto. Kudos to the chef and staff.
Delicious Ramen! Really good!
Was a very good Ramen experience. I did order the Special Ramen which was the most expensive. It was fully loaded. It was good. Noodles and broth was good. Nothing negative to say just not quite sure makes it a Michelin star though...
My favourite ramen of all time. Seating is very limited and you may not be able to eat in during dinner rush especially in the late-fall or winter, they do take reservations though!! I normally get the white miso ramen (vegan) and my boyfriend has tried almost everything on the menu and gets the special. It s incredibly flavorful and filling at an affordable price. You can add extra of any of the components (noodles, egg, veggies, etc) which is great! You can also ask for them to be on the side which I normally do with noodles if I m coming in extra hungry Don t skip on the mochi, it s the best and I crave it before I finish my meal :) Vegetarian options: Curry ramen, white miso ramen
Im not sure what the fuss is about. I tried the vegan ramen and while eating it, wished I went to Tsuchi Cafe instead.
Best Ramen in the city
Amazing! Food was great and the workers were so kind please go here!! It s so worth it I had a great time :)
The BEST ramen I have ever had in Toronto. There is always a line or wait, but thats because its so popular. #ContestEntry
This ramen is incredible! I ordered the Ajitama ramen and everything was spot-on. The broth was super flavourful, the pork was tender and tasty, and the black garlic I got as an extra was so good. We got the cheesecake for desert and I highly recommend it, it was absolutely delicious.
I found out about this place from the Michelin guide and did not disappoint. I have been there multiple times and the ramen is always so so so good. It is my favourite in town. The employees are always nice and willing to go above and beyond for the customers. The place is very small and during the weekend you might have to wait a while to get a seat, but the wait is worth it. You cannot make reservations here. During the winter, when the front door opens in might get cold depending on where you are sitting, but the ramen is 10/10 and hot enough to let you forget about the cold wind coming from outside. To best enjoy this spot, visit during the week around 5pm.
There is 1 hr waiting as the seating inside is extremely limited. We opted for patio seating with propane heating in 3 degrees because there was 1 hr waiting to be seated inside. Our server took our order but didnt enter it in system. So we waited for 30 mins at the patio only to find out that our order was never placed. Ther servers didnt bother to check as they are too busy serving the customer inside. I have no idea how they made to the michelin guide.
Went there for lunch today, surprised that they were pretty busy on a Monday afternoon. We had the Ajitama ramen and chicken karaage, both were yummy. Ramen broth was really flavorful. Service was great.
Yummy ramen with amazing flavour in the broth and the chashu was tender.
I m curious about the criteria for the Michelin Guide. They can t be judging on taste alone. The food is generally good, but the service doesn t match the restaurant s reputation. The staff seems unresponsive to customers thanks, and smiles are hard to find. I ve visited twice, but I think that s enough for me.
Amazing food, great service. 100% recommend Special mention for the strawberry mochi Food
Solid food and a reasonable price. The broth is less heavy than a typical tonkotsu broth but still packs all the flavour. My wife the okonomiyaki wasnt very fresh; I didnt try any so cant vouch for that. Overall Id go back if I were in the neighbourhood and needed ramen but you can get better in Toronto. Vegetarian options: They have a Vegan option on the menu for ramen. Wheelchair accessibility: Not recommended; inside is very tight quarters so youd have to sit outside.
The ramen broth here is so flavourful and rich without being heavy, and the noodles are amazing as well. 10/10 I would come back here again.
Love this place! Only negative is that it has set such a high standard that I no longer want to eat ramen elsewhere. My go to is the miso ramen with egg/pork, add beef and vegetables. Everything Ive tried is fabulous though. Thanks for serving up the most delicious and cravable ramen
Edit: unfortunately have to drop a star based on my most recent (third) visit. Not sure what happened but the soup just didn t have that deep flavour to it anymore and tasted like any other ramen place now. Really disappointed in this since it was my favourite and I would drive out of my way a lot to come here. Not sure I ll be coming anymore :( This was one of the most delicious ramens I ve had in a while. The soup had a deep flavour and the noodles had a perfect bite to them. I loved how there was a seasoning to put on if we wanted which was equally delicious. The egg could have been more jammy but that s a nitpick. The strawberry mochi dessert was also very good except I wish there was more red bean but nonetheless this is a great place for some amazing ramen. Definitely worth a visit.
Absolutely fantastic ramen. Will return.
I called for a reservation and I got attitude, like they were too good for me. I got my cool headed daughter to call them, maybe it was me, and she came back furious for same reason.
One of the best Ramen places in Toronto
Hands down the best bowl of ramen I ve ever eaten!
one of the best ramens i ve had! (and i m often on a hunt for good ramen places)
The food was excellent, flavourful without feeling overly salty or greasy. The $27 special is super satisfying to eat for those who love extra meat in their noodles. I really enjoyed the white miso ramen. Very unique selection of vegetable toppings. My side order of extra noodles was plenty and satisfying. The appetizers were okay, but we were so stuffed they really weren t necessary. The service was slow, but with a basement kitchen and precarious stairs I don t blame them. Good food takes time I suppose. It was muggy inside which made eating a hot bowl of noodles are the more uncomfortable.
Ramen is decent here, but boy oh boy do they skimp on the meat portions. Its a shame cause that seems to be the trend in Toronto far unlike the homeland of Japan.
Very rich, delicious food, the ramen has an exquisite aroma, the only downside I would say is that they are small portions. 100% recommended, affordable price. Of course I would go again.
The noodles are freshly made and that is the core of the ramen... Whichever broth you choose its amazing.. add some extra toppings.. Im actually okay with the portion size... I think the nose of the ramen is off the charts.... The staff are attentive and caring.. we enjoyed the lovely terrace on a warm fall evening.. my friend had gotten off a plane and was craving some ramen.. he now believes this is the best in Toronto..
Wow!!! What an amazing experience!! The food in this place is fantastic!! We ordered the Ajitama Musoshin Ramen. It was so so good. The service was also amazing. Love this place, and for sure, we will be back.
Recommended 100%
They played A Cruel Angel s Thesis as I enjoyed my Spicy Pork Ramen which is why I m giving 5 stars. Michelin recognition is well deserved. Great Ramen as well!
The food was absolutely delightful and was executed to perfection. One of the best places to dine in the entirety of Ontario, I 100% recommend to anyone that likes to enjoy their lives!!!
Amazing experience and service while I ate there, the ramen was so amazing ass well good job
Michelin star food ! Fantastic flavor Food
Great ramen place with 2 vegan options and the daifuku is amazing. Very busy during peak hours so recommend going for lunch on a week day or early on the weekend.
thick but not greasy broth, delicious chashu, amazing takoyaki, good beer selection, really cozy atmosphere and adorable staff. lucky to have this in my hood
The very best Ramen. Even better than their parent company in Kyoto
One of the best ramen places in Toronto. Great vegan options for my wife (the vegan curry). The non-vegan curry was *amazing*. Definitely will be back.
Its always delicious. Chewy noodle!
We ordered two ramens and two sides. The standout was the Ajitama Musoshin noodles, egg, chashu, broth all were amazing. Given it was a vegan broth, the flavour was complexed yet clean tasting. Really good. The two side dishes, karaage and takoyaki were disappointing. The karaage was four little pieces of chicken that were severely under seasoned and almost burnt. Worst karaage we ever had anywhere. It tasted of nothing. The takoyaki which came quickly after we ordered tasted precooked, not fresh. There was little flavour and no octopus inside.
With two thin sliced of pork and portion was very small and unfriendly service . Demand more than 15 % tips which was very rude. Won t coming back
The best ramen. And the only place in Toronto with a QR code menu (although no WiFi)
I believe that most diners come to this restaurant because of its reputation, as it is a Michelin-recommended ramen shop. However, this ramen shop once again confirms the fact that Toronto is a desert when it comes to Japanese cuisine. Leaving aside the tortoise-like slow service, its shocking that a Michelin-recommended restaurant would have chewing gum stuck on the table from previous customers! Not to mention the dried food residue clearly visible on the spoon. The overly fried, almost burnt Karaage chicken is another disappointment. As for the main attraction, the ramen, aside from the firmness of the noodles reminding you that this is a Japanese ramen shop, both the toppings and the broth are of such poor quality. The pitiful two thin slices of chashu cant even be called chashu, as they are just two thin slices of pan-fried pork belly. Think twice before recommending this place. If you must come, please give an honest review. Even a 600-yen ramen in Japan is better than this.
Broth and noodles are good although my egg was cold which was disappointing. Not the best ramen in the city but good enough for the price. Food
Great ramen, broth is very flavorful and thick. Tried the musoshin red ramen and it has a great charcoal flavour to it. Service was a bit slow but its a small restaurant with limited space. They had a lot of dessert/drink options that are authentically Japanese - definitely will try next time. Will be coming back!
Good environment of the place
Top ramen spots I ve ever been to in the city. Amazing staff, owner, and atmosphere. Fresh ingredients that made me want to come back. I got their vegan ramen plus beef and egg, and vegan strawberry mochi with red bean. They were great with allergies, if you re allergic to almonds just know their curry dishes do have almond milk, but ask the server for their allergy matrix to look at all their common allergens :)
So good
Overall we had a better experience at the Waterworks location, the meat tasted a bit off The ramen and broth were still great, much better quality than the chain-restaurants. It was very busy when we got there, the restaurant was understaff so service quality is not up to Japanese standard in my opinion. The decor has a small shack vibe but it feels a bit unorganised, reminded me of a suburb/Okinawa ramen place. Next time I would be more inclined to visit the Waterworks location
It s a small space but well worth the wait if you have too. Ramen is always hot and fresh, best Ramen I ve had outside of Japan!
I always get whatever their special is. Broth is superb.
I wasn t aware that Musoshin was a Michelin guide restaurant, but I was on the hunt for a gluten-free ramen option with some friends, and they delivered just that. They made sure from the noodles to the broth that it was gluten free which was greatly appreciated. I ordered the Ajitama ramen, and the flavors were fantastic perfectly balanced and not too heavy. The wait time was reasonable, but keep in mind that only parties of six can make reservations. .
I was told that the noodles were made in-house; its soft and chewy. The ramen broth is better than most places I have tried in Toronto (4 stars). The price is decent, but there are not many selections. I tried three appetizer dishes, the karage, the pancake, and the takoyaki, and none were good. The place is small, so its not suitable for hanging out.
Planned part of our Toronto trip around coming to Musoshin and was not disappointed. Immediately walking in, youre met with the wonderful aroma of the broth(s) and can see the head chef hard at work. We ordered the Ajitama Musoshin Ramen and wow... everything about it was perfection. The broth was rich and very flavorful. The pork tasted amazing, and the made fresh noodles were wonderful. It is absolutely worth a visit, and we would love to come back. Their shirts are also very well designed and worth picking one up to help remember the best bowl of ramen youll ever have!
Very flavourful broth. Great if you want an authentic classic bowl of ramen without frills.
Best ramen in Toronto! The chashu is slightly torched, noodles are not too soft. The broth is so good, its as good as the ramen in Japan.
Good food, good price and quick service. No complaints
Homey ramen spot with amazing dessert options!
Almost felt like I was back in Japan. Great food, wonderful service and an atmosphere that is hard to find in Toronto.
Great food
The Curry Veg Ramen Noodles fed my soul. The aromatic scents brought this dish something special. Service was exceptional. Honored to have had the opportunity to dine in and will most definitely be returning.
Delicious ramen and takoyaki! I tried their signature ramen and was excited to see dishes like takoyaki, karaage and okonomiyaki on the menu! They also offer yakisoba and rice dishes (the curry rice was excellent!). Quick and friendly service and nice atmosphere. Might be a good idea to book ahead, it was pretty busy when I visited. Vegetarian options: Vegan ramen amd yakisoba available.
We got the ajitama Musoshin ramen and the noodles were very overcooked. The texture was too soft and stuck to the teeth. The broth and chashu were delicious, but the overcooked noodles ruined the meal. I dont think we will be coming back :(
This ramen restaurant is the best in the city. The noodles had the perfect texture, and the broth was incredibly delicious. The charred pork was flavourful and perfectly cooked as well. We also ordered the karaage chicken which was so juicy and crispy. The authentic flavours made the dining experience unforgettable. Nestled in a quiet, cozy neighborhood, this spot offers a lovely ambiance that adds to its charm!!
A gem of a place! Always tasty and fast courteous service!
The best option to go eat a delicious and traditional Ramen, everything I ate was delicious, I was speechless, portion, temperature, flavor... everything perfect.
Delicate yet deep and smokey flavour.
This is my new favourite ramen place in the West End/Junction area, if not Toronto! The broth is unique and delicious. Great pricing and good options - my favourite is the Ajitama Musoshin, with extra noodles, pork and side of chicken karage. If anything, the servers take a bit long to check in with you or until you catch their attention but Im fairly patient and theyre good when they are with you. Ive been here a handful of times now and truly enjoy the ramen.
Cozy little spot! We liked their gluten-free and vegan options. The ramen broth was rich and flavour-filled. Only wish their bowls were bigger so we could have more! The strawberry mochi and ice cream were a nice, and sweet way to end off the lunch. Also their Shokupan (milk bread) is SO GOOD! Highly recommend!
We ordered take out and it was amazing! Best ramen we have ever had!
Delicious authentic ramen with ajitama. Takoyaki and Karaage were all delicious as well.
This was absolutely delicious but the portion is small and I only got two tiny pieces of meat for my portion
Gave me a hot sandwhich wrapped in plastic making it very soggy. I had to put it in the oven to crisp up my cutlet. Microplastics galore in the sandwhich from wrapping it in plastic. Didn t even taste good.
The worst. $27 for a tiny ramen bowl. The guy taking orders is very unprofessional and gives all the wrong information. These guys don t wanna be at work. Just wow. Service at its worst.
A friend suggested this restaurant a while back. Went for the first time a few weeks ago and I loved it. The store itself was a tad bit small and I heard it was quite popular so I was worried we would have to wait in a long line. However, the day we went was quiet so we got in right away. I believe I ordered the Miso Ramen and it was wonderful. Its the first bowl of ramen I managed to actually finish. Great texture, portions and broth. Definitely coming back again and would wait in line if I had to.
The place is fine, but food is pretty mediocre. We ordered ramen and yakisoba. Noodles in both dishes are over cooked and too soft. Takoyaki also taste weird and not fresh
Excellent ramen. Light yet full of flavor, fresh toppings and most importantly a good chew!
Their noodles are really good, and also the broth. But really, their handmade noodles are a really good one. Small restaurant, but its worth the wait if you have to wait. Reasonable price as well. Highly recommend.
Got Ajitama Musoshin Ramen. The broth had complexity and depth without overwhelmingly salty or fatty (I usually don t enjoy tonkatsu ramen because I personally find it too greasy) The noodle soaked up the broth very well and had a great texture. My friend got the vegetable ramen, and she loved it. Will return to try their other menus.
Service was slow, they seems short of staffs and some servers doesn t care much about customers. The ramen on the other hand is delicious. Would recommend if you dont mind line up and the service Food
I ve been here many times but every time it s different sometimes it will be delicious but sometimes it bland or too salty however it s gotten better and less inconsistent
Not surprised this place is listed as one of the top ramen places in Toronto. The broth was fantastic and the noodles tasted very fresh. Cost set up and worth a visit on a cold Toronto evening n
This is my favourite japanese place in Toronto. The menu has a mix of tried and true and interesting seasonal dishes.
I love the vibe of this cozy Japanese ramen restaurant. The ramen and beef taste fantastic and I wish they had a large size! XD The good quality and aesthetic of their porcelain bowls, dishes, and cups enhance the dining experience a lot. You will feel so right to be in an authentic Japanese place. My friend bought a matcha bowl from them. Everyone is very friendly and nice. Even when they missed something on the order, I still didn t get bad feelings or emotions. The place and their hospitality just made me so calm. I bought a Sokupan and strawberry mochi and took them home. They are still delicious.
Had the fried chicken its was very dry The octopus balls were ok more doe and a pinch of octopus inside was not impressed The soup was ok For $100 for 2 people WOW
Been here a few times already amongst other Ramen shops around the city. Im very particular about my ramen but still, my go-to place when I crave a really good broth. The staff are friendly and helpful. When it comes to protein, that would be elsewhere but I will visit again for sure.
Amazing ramen place to bring your dog on a sunny day. Karaages are juicy. Vegan ramens are surprisingly delicious and full of flavor.
Some of the best ramen in the west end. Complex and creamy broth with just enough toppings.
So good
After a day of reveling in the cherry blossoms at High Park, my friends and I decided to prolong the Japanese experience by dining at Musoshin Ramen. I opted for the Musoshin Ramen Red, a blend of spicy pork, chicken, and vegetable broth, complemented by shiokoji beef tenderloin and vegetables. While the broth was delicious, I found the portion of meat to be somewhat lacking. However, the unexpected crunch of a near-raw okra pod added a unique twist that I surprisingly enjoyed. The option to customize spice levels is a plus; I selected level 6, which provided a moderate kick, while my friend craved an extra heat boost and requested additional hot sauce. We also indulged in the chicken karaage, which was a highlight of the meal. Each morsel was succulent, crispy, and bursting with juicy flavor a definite must-try. Despite the cozy confines of the restaurant and a somewhat busy period, we were seated within the estimated 20 minutes, making the wait worthwhile. Overall, Musoshin Ramen offers a satisfying Japanese dining experience, perfect for unwinding after a day of exploration.
Great ramen, excellent iced cream
The quality of this ramen is quite good. Its not far off from the standard I experienced while eating in Japan. However, the location is relatively remote, so if you happen to pass by, its worth giving it a try. The quality of this ramen is pretty good. Its about the same standard as the food I had in Japan. However, the location is relatively remote, so you can give it a try if you pass by.
Delicious ramen with mediocre desserts. The restaurant is not very big and conveniently close to High Park.
The worst vegetarian ramen I ve ever tried. Looks and tests like over cooked noodles in the plain boiled water. Kinton Ramen is 100x better. Food
Takoyaki Ramen Not your typical authentic Tonkotsu ramen but still good otherwise. It s on the Michelin guide as well.
They serve a sort of best ramen I ever eaten )
Tasty broth and well made noodles. Karage was delicious. Friendly service left my bag and they kept it for me safely. Mochi was a nice surprise and tasty.
Fantastic ramen, one of the best Ive had in the world including Japan. Noodles are salted and al dente. The broth is deep in flavour, very special and interesting, and not too heavy, perfect balance. The seasoning available on the side is authentic to Japan and very tasty, I ended up dumping it on toward the end because its so good. The strawberry mochi is yummy, i wish the mochi and red bean parts were thicker though, but overall Id get it again. I also like the water, its at a good cool temperature.
Came here because it s on the Michelin website. Cute little ramen shop by the street. The noodles are a bit harder than most of the ramen I have had. The chashu has a torched or charcoal smell. The soup is very thick and flavorful. This ramen shop gives me a very homey vibe
Amazing ramen!
Loved the food. Had a nice time with my date.
Great food and service. Space is a little tight.
Very rich
We were in the area on a Sunday afternoon and found this ramen restaurant. It was a small space and we had to wait for around 15 minutes for a table. There was no space in the restaurant for you to wait so we had to wait outside in the snow. But the wait was totally worth it! Their broth was one of the best I have tasted in Toronto. Really flavorful and full of umami. The food was amazing and we will definitely come again! Vegetarian options: They offer vegan ramen
I dream of Musoshin. They have a small menu of perfectly executed dishes, making no matter what you order the right decision. Its the perfect hole in the wall joint with quick service, and the perfect cafe vibe.
Loved the food here and the service as well. We got the Takoyakis, one Ajitama Musoshin Ramen and one Musoshin Ramen Red (spicy version). Everything tasted really and I would definitely recommend this place.
a ramen shop in which you cannot have noodles softer than very very firm. did not experience this at musoshin kyoto, which was stellar. Charged me for food I did not eat when my request was apparently impossible to remedy.
Best Ramen in the city. It covers your stomach like taking a nap in a sun light room under a warm blanket with a loved one. I told 1000 people to go here after my first meal
Amazing place for Ramen
Best ramen (order the classic), Best service even small restaurant
It s on the Michelin guide for a reason! Their ramen broth is perfectly balanced. Full flavour but not greasy. Portion size is perfect, you ll have just enough room for one of their strawberry mochi. Also, the staff here are amazing, so considerate and friendly.
Good. Egg was perfectly done, the pork was very tasty. The broth was a bit bland but still good. Loved the cheesecake!
small shop but very comforting. The staff are friendly. Good amount of ramen choices. The noodles, broth and chashu compemented each other well. Chashu -men Vegetarian options: there a veggie ramen
Nice overall experience, we almost felt like in Japan! I like the Gluten free option and the staff who was very nice. But we were a bit disappointed by the food which was not high quality: tonkatsu pork was dry as if the meat was freezed before, and the ramen broth with white miso didn t have the complex taste that I love so much within Japanese food.
Very bad experience, we wait for more than 1hour for the table. They have empty tablesss but they don t serve us. And we have to wait outside. It really doesn t worth for wait that long time to have a ramen with the bad services
Delicious ramen. Highly recommend!
Got the musoshin ramen and their white miso vegan ramen. It was just okay, nothing really special. The musoshin ramen definitely more flavoursome than the white miso. The place is small, and we were sitting on the window seats. We had to move in the middle of our meal to allow another guest to get into the sitting booth.
Good ramen, very warm atmosphere
Great little ramen spot in Roncesvalles! Staff was super accommodating to an expedited timing request as well.
Great service but found the ramen to be very sub par. Huge ramen fan but isshin and others are much better
Dine in recommended for ramen but the best spicy red ramen on this side of town!
A really lovely spot, right in the heart of High Park. Very cozy, very good quality.
Always love a good Ramen spot. This does not disappoint! The quality of the noodles is what makes it special. Service was okay and the seating is tight, but overall highly recommend. Kids loved it as well!
A hidden gem, the best ramen Ive ever had I go at least once every other week and order the same thing and it still hits every time...Musoshin Ajitama Ramen
Well there should be no mediocre reviews lol. This place is very very good. I m still on the hunt for the best ramen in Toronto and this is up there. They re so many chains (Kinton is brutal in comparison to this) not all are good, not all are bad..pretty sure this is a stand alone spot, and quite unheard of in comparison to the chains it s honestly a gem. It s worth the wait, and if people are waiting in the first place it s a good sign
small space, cozy ambience, wait time is very reasonable, fast service, good selection of locally produced japanese/german style beer, quality rich velvety broth, loved our ramens, and the karaage is one of the best in city i would argue. i d come back to try more ramens on their menu !!
I like to get the pork/veggie/chicken broth but not the Chashu and they always ask me if I want extra veggies instead; so my ramen comes with bright carrots and spinach, okra and pepper it s the best! Really appreciate that they offer this modification.
We had a great time visiting! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Next time we are in the area we ll definitely come back!
The food is excellent .
Great place, excellent food. Definitely worth a stop in if youre in the area. Theyre pretty busy though so you may have a wait for a seat.
Cozy spot in the city for some amazing ramen. They also made a vegan gluten free ramen, which one of my friends had and loved it. The noodles are made out of rice. Didnt get to try the cheesecake but thats on my list for the next visit. Great mix of people solo, couples and larger groups. Go early as they dont take reservations and it gets busy. Worth the wait.
Friendly staff, delicious ramen.
Love this cozy ramen place in my area at roncesvalles!
Great food.. :)
Fell in love with this cozy lil spot! I ve had a lot of ramen and found Musoshin to be very clean and refreshing! I felt very satisfied and light after this meal, despite eating fried dishes and finishing a bowl of rich broth! I believe this is a testament to the quality of their ingredients and letting them shine without over complicating their dishes. We also delved into their selection of Canadian-Japanese beers which they have a good selection of. The fresh strawberry mocha and yogurt cheesecake were refreshing sweet treats to finish of our meal!
Delicious!
Great atmosphere.. staff are friendly. The place is kinda small.. not much space.. I wish they had a bigger place.a a bit pricey but worth it! We had the mushoshin ramen, takoyaki, and moshi.. they tasted amazing!!! Its one of the best ramen in Toronto so far! Parking: You can park at the side street. I believe theres also paid parking and parking at the back of the building..
Parking: Can park in a nearby shopping plaza if street parking is not available. It is close to the subway and street cars as an alternative to driving. Food
It s an incredible relaxed spot. You go for the Ramen and it s incredible. Fresh, tasty and just like you are sitting in Kyoto. Has a star and deserves it.
Usually a bit of a wait for a table but staff is quick and food is worth it. Went with a friend who got a second order of ramen immediately after the first.
Quaint spot for ramen in a small setting thats always full with customers. Their ramen is nice and doesnt leave a heavy aftertaste, but my favourite is the Yakisoba so far. Karaage is alright. Service is quick with food taking an average of 15 mins to get to you. If youre in the area, its definitely worth dropping by and sampling them.
Great ramen. Good broth, amazing noodles. Also, great chicken karaage bowls.
This is definitely one of the hidden gem on the west end. Small family like restaurant yet beautiful and yummy. The curry ramen is so good and unique, my fav. To top it we got raspberry mousse. The feel of the restaurant and environment made us feel like were in japan. They sell freshly made shokupan as well.
Delicious, lighter tasting broth, rich in flavor.
I havent been to that ramen joint in the east yet but this is easily the best ramen i had in toronto. That said, ramen here aint the best. Vancouver has better ramen in my opinion but this one is up there o fosho. There were 3 staff members working on a packed rush hour w a lineup and they were super pro. As an ex restaurant worker its always good to see an efficient system. Keep it up guys im coming again
Went here for a lunch social - the ramen was phenomenal
Bought the two vegan dishes and both broths were very bland, there was nothing exceptional for toppings raw whole okra, shredded carrots and three raw slices of bell peppers. Had we not modified our dishes, with adding a bland boiled egg, the dish would have been a lot emptier. If you re vegan or vegetarian ramen isshin has tastier offerings.
Excellent food but be prepared for a wait and possibly sold out dishes. Wouldve given it 5 stars if they werent sold out of the shokupan cloud bread and strawberry mochi, which was what made us want to come here in the first place. Food: I had the white miso vegan ramen and it was delectable. My partner has the curry version and it was excellent as well. One of the better spots in the city for vegan ramen. Had the yakisoba too and wasnt that impressed. Service: Arrived around 8pm on a random weekday night. This is a super small restaurant so my group of 4 still had to wait around 40 minutes for a table. We put our number down and waited in the Starbucks to avoid standing out in the cold. Items were sold out as well. The servers tried their best to accommodate us but there was only so much they could do given supply and demand. Atmosphere: Kind of reminds me of restaurants in actual Japan which have a similar vibe of being small, cramped and a bit hectic. Definitely more of a casual vibe than a spot for a special occasion. Vegetarian options: Excellent vegan ramen options.
Small cozy spot located on west side serving the best ramen in the city. Would recommend any dish off their menu. The menu is well curated and offers something for anyone. Hands down must try their ramen. Good portions and great prices. Staff are friendly. Space is tight lines up are long but this is best in town. They offer take out if interested.
Love the ramen red. We come at least a couple times a month and always enjoy the experience.
First time here! The staff are extremely lovely, and it had the best atmosphere for a ramen spot. I got their limited Black Garlic ramen: while the broth could have been hotter, the taste was incredibly unique and deep with umami flavor. My husband got their regulr Mushoshin ramen which was pretty super. Also loved their takoyaki! We both felt we could have recieved more toppings/protein considering the price, but the quality is there. Would recommend checking out.
Small but packs a punch! Was in the neighbourhood and thought to stop in to continue my search for good ramen across the city. I like that the size of the bowl was very manageable, but in relation to price it may not be very cost friendly. Taste wise, the soup (I got the musoshin) is both simple and flavourful at the same time, and theres sichimi on the table for you to add spice to it when its time to. Noodles are the straight kind, I dont mind it; and if anything, I found the menma flavourless but thats fine, in the grand scheme of things. Chashu is sliced on the thin side, Id get more for the next time. All in all very enjoyable, will stop by again when Im in the neighbourhood. Gochisosamadeshta!
Amazingly rich vegetarian broth that is just as good as the fatty pork broths most places would use. The homemade noodles have the perfect balance of chewiness. Price is around $17-20 per ramen.
The best ramen west of downtown.
Delicious ramen and the mochi strawberries are divine - well worth a visit
Very nice service and atmosphere. We had the vegan ramen and the Kyoto one was bland and the curry one wasn t something we loved.
Yum, as usual.
Food is good, but sure if it s worth waiting 30 minutes for. I arrived shortly after 1pm and had my name put down. The restaurant sits 20 people with 3 tables for 4, 2 tables for 2, and 4 singles by the window. I did not get my seat until 1:45pm. They have 2 servers for the front and 2 kitchen staff. Servers were friendly, but I had to ask 3 times in 10 minutes before I finally got my water. Food came within 10 minutes as well which was good. Tastes-wise it s good, just not unforgettable. Level 10 spicy for the Musoshin Red was not too spicy. Maybe that s the Asian tolerant of me. Curry was also good but again not beyond. Portion was fine. May need an appy to round out a meal. I ordered 2 portions because I wanted to try and I didn t want to have to wait 30 minutes again. Overall it s fine. But I would not go out of my way to come here.
I NEVER write these but Im leaving a review to WARN YOU of all the hype this place gets...where this is supposed to be Michelin worthy. My experience was quite the opposite...first to start we sat by the window and I really liked the massive windows which is why Im giving atmosphere a 3/5. FOOD: I ordered the musoshin red + karaage and my friends ordered the musoshin ramen with takoyaki, the ramen was good but not super memorable to where Id come back as the portions are TINY. The karaage (side dish paired with my ramen 2 pieces) was literally room temperature to the point where I actually thought that it came out of the fridge and was supposed to be served like that...I told myself maybe this is the new michelin(delulu). I WAS WRONG. We were all so hungry after waiting 45 mins for our meal and because we were SO HUNGRY we didnt realize that our takoyakis NEVER came out until after our meal. We asked them to take it off the bill and they said it would be free next time but we just decided its whatever, we got fed, take it off the bill, and we leave. But as soon as I thought it was over...I got home to realize that I got charged for the Takoyaki I never got. Because I work in the food industry myself as both front and back of the house I am a lot more forgiving to restaurants in the city but I was VERY DISAPOINTED with the lack of communication. (when yall are going to an Asian place and theres only 1/5 staff thats asian...it speaks for the authenticity not only in food but in service)
This place is awesome. The ramen is soooo good and very authentic. Real craftsmanship. Their noodles are made in house too, you can tell. I ll be back.
I was so excited to return to Musoshin, but the experience just doesnt merit going back in the future no matter how good the food was. We arrived at 7:40 and there was a wait - would have happily put my name on the list, but it took a couple of minutes for a member of staff to even acknowledge us. Once we were on the wait list, we were called and said wed be back in 6 minutes. Upon arrival, the servers had sat new customers and there was an additional 10 minute wait for a table to become available. After finally being seated, we ordered immediately and unfortunately waited nearly half an hour for 2 bowls of ramen and an order of karaage chicken, while watching surrounding tables receive theirs. We were also nearly done our ramen mains by the time our appetizer showed up. A super disappointing service experience that by no means speaks to the quality of the (excellent) ramen.
Amaaaazing ramen, some of the best in Toronto!
if it is closing, just dont put people in waiting list and tell them wait for a call.
Despite some of the mediocre reviews we stopped in at Musoshin and were thoroughly impressed! The ramen was excellent, the broth was flavourful and hot while the noodles were bouncy and perfectly textured. You could tell the noodles were made there and could feel the love they put into their food. We stopped in at 5pm on a Friday and were almost the only ones there, but by the time we left it was filling up. They have a cute patio as well for nice days so theres plenty of extra space, and service was pretty quick so we were in and out in under an hour.
Helloooo one of my new favourite ramen places! I was actually planning to go to this Thai place down the street, but it was very cold, and I was very hungry, and, like a light in darkness, this place glowed for some reason. It wasn t even on the main street, but I somehow just felt called to go inside. It s a very small store, not many people can fit inside, and they have a few seats outdoors as well. So I could see that when it s really busy, you d have to wait a long time. The two times I went here, I was lucky enough to get a seat immediately. I see the prices are pretty fair here, although I wish they were lower. They do have an ability to customize your Ramen, which is pretty cool. And they also have a lot of all the Japanese items, including desserts, appetizers, and other dishes. Again, if the Ramen were cheaper, I d love to order an appetizer or such with it, but instead, I just end up getting extra noodles for two dollars. And I devour that ramen with extra noodles, I m telling you. I get their best seller, and use a little bit of togarashi on the side when I want to make it more spicy. The extra noodles perfectly fill my stomach, I feel very very warm when I walk outside. They don t have much of a variety on their menu, so check ahead if you re a picky person. The quality of the noodles are so so good, and the broth isn t very heavy. Which I love so much. It s not thin like a soup, it s perfect for Ramen. The eggs are cooked to perfection, and the noodles absorb just the right amount of broth needed. I will 100% be back here, I ll see you soon! :-)
one of the best ramen places in toronto! made a reservation so no wait time thankfully super fresh noodles and their broth was nice and thick Food
I was looking forward this. The place is buzzing most nights so I expected it to live up to the hype. However, the portion size for protein did a huge disservice to the experience. I got the Musochin ramen red, and the picture gives the impression it s a generous portion. However, it was three tiny bites of meat. Not great considering it s price point is just as high as the other spots in the city that provide an adequate portion. I ll give it to them, the flavour was good. The broth was tasty, rich and seasoned well. If the portions were reasonable i d put this up there with the best. flavour: 5/5 value: 1/5
Musoshin ramen (nice chewy noodle. Tender meaty chashu. Noodle is the thick type which I don t like, but it is not greasy heavy as I expected from thick soup. Shokupan (all I wanted from a decent Japanese shokupan. Soft chewy buttery Cute warm welcoming family vibe store
Cute little spot with on point broth, I had the signature miso - my lady had the veggie - we enjoyed thoroughly, wait staff friendly, recommend!
Ordered the vegan ramen with egg on top. Usually I can never finish my ramen but this was the perfect size and the broth was flavorful. Would come back to try the curry next. Also ordered the matcha affogato which is actually vanilla ice cream with a teeny bowl of concentrated match to pour over.
Of all the ramen shops Ive been to in Toronto, this place is really bad. Portion are small and flavour is a bit bland. DO NOT BUY their takoyaki- its premade (in the basement) and microwave it when you order; this was my mistake when I ordered, it was soft, fell apart and not hot at all. Very disappointed. Tried to like this place since its close to me, but its just not that good.
Great neighbourhood noodle spot!
The portions are a little small but the noodles make up for everything.
My kid tried Ramen for the first time here and now its her favourite food.
I like this place. Its quiet, no loud background music, you can talk to people. Even the guests are soft spoken. They have nice vegan options, I tried the vegan miso was very nicely prepared.
Amazing Ramen, small space so it always felt crowded but you could tell the locals love this place. Tried the ramen with green rice tea and cannot explain how good their food is!
Perfectly average, though not consistent with their rating, ryu is much better. Mediocre noodles boiled a couple dozen seconds past, good but unexception broth, interesting vegan broth, topping selections for the vegatables are questionable, takoyaki si microwaved without additional frying and/or baking/broiling.
when in waitlist, no space to wait inside the restaurant. several empty seats and yet everybody is waiting outside of the restaurant in winter Parking: There are some streets parking but no space at all, need to park in a few street away and walk for around 15 minutes
(Visited on Dec 16, 2023 approx 7PM) First location outside Japan so obviously we had to try it. Small place, only a handful of seats. Atmosphere and Service was wonderful. The food was excellent! Ive had Okonomiyaki at Okonomi House and this was just as authentic. And I loved how it was a personal sized portion - just the right size for a side dish. I ordered the Ajitama Mushoshin Ramen; Ive never had vegetable broth before in my Ramen and I can say it does live up to the hype. The noodles were cooked perfectly as well as the chashu pork. For dessert it was so hard to pick what to order so the server recommended the Hojicha Affogato. The flavour is absolutely lovely. Like a hint of chocolate in matcha...but not matcha.... I absolutely recommend this place if youre in the area. Come during off peak hours or be prepared to wait a little while. Next time Ill buy the No Ramen No Life shirt lol
