Allen's in Toronto

I ve heard about this restaurant all my life but never officially checked it out until yesterday. The atmosphere and service is definitely top notch. Their beer, burger, and wings were exceptional!

We were on a waitlist for a restaurant down the road and since it was cold we decided to pop into Allen s for a drink while we wait . So glad we did . We looked at the menu and I saw the special was ahí tuna , so I was sold! We asked if they had a table and even though it was packed they accommodated us. Granted it was in a corner in front of the kitchen , but that s fine with us . I loved the wine they suggested and as I had hoped the ahí was delish. My husband loves traditional pub food so that s what he ordered and loved it. Great spot for a casual meal with high end service .

After seeing/hearing so many rave about this Danforth institution for so long, I decided to finally stop in and give it ago, hopes naturally high. While the service and atmosphere were perfect- truly could not ask for more-, the reason I was there-- the food-- could not have fallen more short, nor underwhelmed more. Not sure whether this was an isolated instance or representative of how it always, but the chowder bordered on inedible for me due to how vastly under-cooked all the veggies inside were... I mean, they were pretty much raw, the potatoes especially hard as a rock; not very appealing in the context of a chowder. I was shocked by this, to be honest. And while the broth had decent enough flavour, it was to thin/watery for my preference. At least the fish was decently cooked- hard to mess that up. Then arrived the highly-acclaimed burger, which simply could not have underwhelmed more if it tried. Perhaps nowadays that smash burgers are all the rage, people see the fatness of the Allens burger as a welcome departure from that new norm, but... where is the flavour, man? This thing had absolutely *no* flavour/seasoning to it, and while the beef is decent enough quality, its not quite 45-day dry-aged prime, which is to say, I wouldnt rely solely on the beef to do all the heavy lifting. The butter chicken was fine enough, though youll find about 100 better ones elsewhere- the rice which accompanied it was tragic. The crab-stuffed mushrooms, about the saddest-looking and most uninspired app Ive had in recent memory. Parsnip soup, which I stole just a spoonful of, similarly forgettable. The highlight for me, hands down, was the amazing thick-cut fries. I would genuinely travel back just for two helpings of those and a pint of Guinness. The fries are stellar, and a real throwback which I crave. Next time, Ill be sure to go heavy on the salt (seems under-seasoning is a common theme here) and give a dash of malt vinegar- truly stupendous chips... a bloody simple thing, yet not done anywhere else quite like this anymore. Again, service + atmosphere, both stellar- its not their fault. Especially disgruntled considering its really not the best value proposition in general, but especially when considering what you get for your dollars- I was remarkably underwhelmed (except for those amazing fries). Sorry.

Allens has been a local staple on the danforth for so many years. Consisted great bar experience with a fantastic whiskey collection. However, I was disappointed with the food at my last visit...wondering if ownership change has impacted quality...

My first time there this evening after hearing nothing but good things.. Right away the service was incredible, the Guinness was perfect and the food took my breathe away .

Great Irish pub! It s busy as heck. It kinda reminded me of cheers where everyone knows your name! I had the salmon and it was excellent. The service was also very prompt. The price is a little more than your average pub but the food is worth it. It also is located in a happening part of town so you can go pub hopping if you really wanted to. Parking: There is street parking and there is green P on the streets behind the pub.

Really good , food and fast service

I don t get the hype at all. $20 for a burger that doesn t come with cheese or a side is ludicrous, but especially when it s under seasoned. There server was literally just fine, not much interaction, but we never got a water refill, it took a long time for a simple drink order to come to the table, and one of our dishes came out wrong. The place is pretty and might get some points for ambience, except that it was really busy before a show at Danforth and the tables were so close together that I kept having someone back into me when they stood up, knocking me and just all up in my shit. Always been told it s a classic spot but I cannot fathom why and wouldn t bother returning.

Excellent service, and cozy/pleasant atmosphere. We were a group of 8 people and all had a great experience for Sunday brunch.

Wow, we went in for a late lunch early dinner today to celebrate my husbands birthday and had such a fantastic meal. We went all out and had the duck special, their lovely Tawes rosé and a great locally brewed beer, Godspeed I believe. Impeccable service and lovely atmosphere on the patio. Thank you so much Allens!

Unbelievably good all around! All the way from the front of the house to the kitchen. Great food, great service.

Had the BEST dinner here before a show next door. We had the tenderloin steak and the sea bass. Both were cooked perfectly and came with a trio of salads that were a perfect accompaniment. Would highly recommended and would certainly return.

Ive visited this place twice once on the patio and once inside. I really appreciate the quality and generous portions of the food. The waitstaff are always warm and welcoming, and I truly enjoy the atmosphere. I highly recommend giving it a try.

Another visit and a great dining experience. The smoked salmon on Irish soda bread is so nice.

Mussels starter nice Lamb shank cold - poor piece of meat Burger patty was dry and crumbly Fries were an interesting take on fries. I asked for food to be reheated. We were not asked how our food was. Etc No offer to reduce bill, offer another coke etc

Our first visit was great! Food was delicious and the back patio is a total vibe. Cant wait for our next date night there.

Great service and atmosphere but the food was pretty bad and very overpriced. Soggy french fries, and the shrimp curry is much too salty and just...not good. If the prices were reasonable I could forgive the bad food. All in all, I would say this is a good place to come to have a beer or other drink but not a meal.

Don t be fooled. The service and the FOOD, is terrible. I don t need to go to the bar, to get my own drinks. Plus they should know what OZ..are. So you don t get served a 2oz steak.

This place was incredible. What a pleasant surprise! We ordered mussels for appetizer and they were beyond delicious. The broth was so good we literally drank it after. Yum. The rest of the food was tasty and fresh. The fries were also so good. Just an overall great experience. Service was fantastic too. Been back since.

I love Allen s. Good food and great people. But had the burger today.$22 for a cheeseburger with no side. Very bland. Not worth it. Other things on the menu that are way better.

Great backyard patio!

Danforth gem. Brunch was fast and delicious. Our server was friendly and accommodating. Great outdoor patio in the back

Food is terrible. There were four of us. Two of us got pizza and both were burnt badly. My girlfriend got the chicken pot pie and there was hardly anything inside of it. My buddy got the open faced salmon sandwich and he said it was gross. He also felt sick afterwards and so did my gf. The servers were nice about us wanting to sit on the patio and then back inside as it was getting chilly. Service was great and the patio is awesome. Unfortunately the food is terrible.

9 of us for dinner Saturday, superior service and fabulous food. Has been a local spot for many years and just gets better and better! They really know how to do things right... do yourself a favour and give Allens a try!

Edit: Didn t have a great first dinner experience a while ago in Dec 23. Until today when a friend wanted to visit Allens for its back patio from Brunch. Having no expectations and some notions from the previous visit, I was in for a BIG SUPRISE. One of the best place in the city to have dinner and a beer. Amazing place and treated 1st class. Highly recommend.

Was last here about 15 years ago. Came back and the food is still great, but my steak was a bit undercooked. Dietary restrictions: If you are allergic to sesame like me, don t get the burgers since they have sesame seeds on the buns.

Above average bar with a great ambience and interesting & varied menu. No annoying TVS in your face, too classy for that. Prices reasonable for this era. Psid parking available on the Danforth St though you may get lucky on the residential side streets. Definitely will return, its on my radar.

Stopped in for diner before a show next door at The Danforth Music Hall. We chose it because of the location but now that we ve eaten there we would choose it again based on the food!

Awesome Chicken wings! right up there with the smoked wings at the Breakwall BBQ (Queen St in the Beach), in my opinion they are second best wings on the east side.

I love this place. Im there at least twice a month. never disappointed. The food , the atmosphere, the service, all stellar. It s become my go to place for a casual , long lunch.

I wish someone could explain to me the enduring appeal of Allen s. I ve lived in Toronto for 25+ years, and eaten all over the city, from low- to high-end, and I can t think of another restaurant where I ve experienced such rudeness and hostility on such a consistent basis. I just moved to the Danforth in the fall, and after a comically bad night at Allen s in October I vowed I wasn t going to darken their door again. However, there aren t a lot of lunchtime options in the area, and my sister thought their menu looked good, so I thought I would give it one more try. Yet again, rudeness, disdain, and quite frankly mediocre food (in October, our table of four each ordered four different desserts from our server who was already treating us like we d just slashed his tires and they were all stale). They re resting on their laurels of having what was once considered a noteworthy burger (c. 1998, maybe), and not a lot of competition in the area. Even the smugness on the entirely white faces of the other patrons was off-putting, like eating at Allen s somehow makes you cool (it doesnt). The whole staff could benefit from taking a congeniality course. EAT SOMEWHERE FRIENDLIER!

Food was amazing, helped by salivating over the food delivered to neighboring tables. Service was friendly, if a little overbusy, and seeing was comfortable but plain.

Food ok, overpriced, would have been better if I had not scrapped my hand on a nail protruding from the chair I was sitting on. The staff was seemed incredibly uninterested, although she switched the chair, moving it to the table next to us (?!?) and handing me bandaids. I think it is was her inability to apologize that dampened the experience. A simple Im sorry, would you like a drink on the house would have been enough to change the situation.

Really enjoyed the atmosphere very Homely friendly great choice of menus. I had the burger which was fantastic. My choice was that it was cooked medium and it was ideal. Side of greens and dressing.

A Toronto institution for years excellent food great stuff fantastic bar

Stopped by Allens, with a small crew on St. Pattys Day. It was a pretty solid hang to be honest. I made a huge mistake by not getting the pizza, which was sensational. I went with the chicken and waffles instead. Waffles were great, chicken was pretty disappointing. The house lager was fantastic and the place was bumping. Obviously, when you swing by, it wont be St. Pattys, but the place definitely had a fun vibe to it. Our server was stressed because it was so busy, but she took it out on us a couple times which was a bit awkward. She was really good other than that though haha. I would definitely stop by if youre in the area and looking for some drinks and pretty good food. It also looked like a doable sports night spot.

Food is fairly standard: certainly not bad but not particularly memorable either. Found the service wanting. A dirty fork was replaced without apology.

I don t normally write reviews but I really have to about this place. It was FREEZING. Spoke with management about it- they didn t care whatsoever. It was so cold to the point where my nose became runny, I couldn t take my coat off. When I brought it to the attention of the staff they could not have cared less. They blamed me for taking a seat at the bar instead of going all the way to the back? VERY strange. Service also was not good. Had multiple IPA s on the menu yet had NONE in stock to actually drink. Bartender came up to me and was EXTREMELY rude and aggressive. I explained I ve been in the industry for over 10 years and his literal response was Really? Because whenever people say that- they ve never actually been in the industry I have literally never had such a rude experience before. Would NOT RECOMMEND. Go literally anywhere else.

Definitely recommend the steak festival. I ordered the bone-in Ribeye steak, and it was excellent. The sides were all delicious as well. Service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was very homey and comfortable.

An excellent burger and fries ... truly perfect.

Food was ok but too expensive. We had a hamburger, chicken pot pie, one side salad, and one coffee. With the tip it was over $70. Service was great though.

My fiance and I went for dinner. And we left really disappointed, We expected the food to be better. It was fine 6 out of 10. It is not bad . The Burger was fine . Not as good as we read in the reviews. I think they can improve. The service started good but they didnt attend us. We wanted to order dessert but nobody came to check if we wanted something else. The service is not good enough. The price doesnt match with the food in my opinion.

Not only do they have by far the best burgers, enjoyed the fantastic annual steak fest.

Food was pretty mediocre and the service was bad. After our food was delivered the waitress never came back again to ask if we wanted dessert or even to take our empty plate away and give us the bill. Had to go to the front to pay after waiting about 20 minutes and no one coming by. I previously heard good things about this place but was throughly disappointed.

Had a nice date here on a Saturday evening. Such a cosy place. The halibut and chips were delicious! They also have a great selection of beers Our waitress was on point as well, fabulous service. Would like to visit again :)

My brother and I went today for lunch. It seems like you get terrible service unless you re white, old, and look rich. We came in athletic gear after playing Tennis at Riverdale so didn t fit the stereotype. We felt unwelcome, almost as if they are doing us a favour serving us. Lots of attitude. I gladly didn t tip. We were originally going to order the burger, but it s $20 and doesn t include fries. $20 for a burger with no toppings or sides is ridiculous. We ordered chicken and waffles which was good but not spectacular. Not impressed and won t be back.

I have been going to Allens for a long time, and the food and service were usually quite good. But my last few visits have been very, very disappointing. My son had the Ricotta stuffed Capon breast, and it was dry and overcooked. I had the chicken pot pie and it was watery and lacked seasoning. We hardly touched our food and our server did not even care to ask us how our meal was. Incredibly disappointing.

Very cozy place in the winter. Excellent selection of single malts to warm you up. I had the chowder which was delicious and chock full of fish and vegetables. It was creamy, slightly tangy and had just the faintest hint of dill. Well done! I also had their basic burger. Its a good pub style burger with all toppings and accoutrements on the side for construction. It was cooked medium rare as I wanted. It is not, however the best burger in the GTA but rather ranks in the top few percentile. Finally, the brewed coffee is delicious and not muddy/watery unlike many other similar places. Note: It is pretty pricy but relatively well worth it.

Went tonight,was looking forward to it the whole week ordered bone in rib-eye med /Chicago,not sure if the server understood,I said it twice ,but she repeated back medium,should have double checked and way ,we had a time limit ,,,,,to eat Steak came rare ,not even Chicago d ,and you would think the older lady server would have said oh hey you still have a pile of meat on your plate is it ok ?,but with the time limit and our big party I wasn t about to send back my 60$ steak to wait another 20 min and eat while everyone is done (time limit ) and way she didn t say anything,anyway whoever the steak wasn t good and no attention to quality checking too Thanks for nothing

Warm soup, cold beer, hot potatoes. Perfect this February Family Day.

A friend booked us a table to try out Steak Fest. I had a Black Angus tenderloin and if I could marry a steak, we would have eloped. Perfectly cooked as ordered. The sides (we shared mashed potatoes, double baked potato, rapini, duck fat roasted potatoes) all delicious. This was the type of meal that requires a good nap after. Very very good. No photos, because we couldnt wait to dig in.

Good food and warm service

This place is amazing!! Had the mussels, grilled shrimp cocktail, chicken pizza, deep fried calamari and the chocolate Guinness cake. All cooked to perfection!!

Been here a hundred times. For the first time I had a non burger item... well I still had a burger, but I also tried a cup of the seafood chowder. Very tasty! This place has always had great service, and dishes that look very tempting, but I cant stop myself from getting that burger medium rare. Its a great spot for my old man, my brother and I to catch a nice bite before a concert in Toronto. A burger each and a shared order of fries and none of us are too full that we cant go and rock out at the concert! Now if you guys would start carrying my Captain Morgan spiced rum, that would be a cherry on the sundae.

$16 Veggie burger with NO FRIES. Seriously? Fries are extra? My burger literally came to the table with nothing else. Server didn t say anything. I asked for fries, they said kitchen closed. It was a good burger but not anything better than A&W.

Great food

A great place with a cozy, neighbourhood, local pub vibe. Menu is reasonably priced, with a wide range of selections: salad; mussels; burgers; meaty main courses, and more! I recommend the seafood chowder, black bean soup, the mussels and the burger. Parking can be challenging, but for people taking transit, the location is no problem.

Great spot for a pre-concert dinner. Always friendly service, great wine and whisky list, amazing food. Burgers are incredible, cooked to perfect medium rare. Will definitely be back!

I don t often eat meat, much less burgers. I made an exception here because of a friend s recommendation and certainly didn t regret it. The burger patties are apparently made from sirloin that is freshly ground here. Wow

Excellent potato soup and Irish stew

My friends both ordered off the brunch menu and really enjoyed their meals. I am not a fan of eggs so I ordered of the lunch menu. Honestly the brunch and lunch menus had lots of options. I ordered the Guinness beef stew and was impressed by the taste. Also by the reasonable portion for a lunch. We all had a Guinness and after we had coffee and desserts

Food is great but it is noisy.

Great beers from around the world, especially the unique Belgian brews. Astounding collection of Scotch whiskeys. A patio oasis out back, guarded by a grandiose Willow tree. Menu features quality versions of many classic dishes, including vegetarian-suitable. Special events sprinkled throughout the year. The Robbie Burns Day event is arguably the most unusual. Professional wait staff. Ive returned here for years. Many times with my dad. Even in his memory the week after he died. And today was the first time I came as dad with my kids. Youll enjoy it. The food was great! (And served by a lovely Irish waitress from Cork!) The Seafood chowder was great (I m from the east coast and eaten lots of great seafood chowder - this was excellent). My friend had the lamb shank which was excellent and the mashed potatoes were so good! (We all tasted them) The patio is very small and only has two tables so we were lucky to get one of the them on a gorgeous warm Saturday evening. Would definitely eat here again and recommend the food - if there was patio space (the inside looked a bit noisy and dark on a sunny Saturday, so we did not go inside).

This is a key spot on the western Danforth. One of the best patios around. It is and has been a quality establishment for many years. Food and drink are great, service is top notch. We stopped in for one of the first patio days of the year, they were technically understaffed for the extra seating, but the staff worked hard to make everything run smoothly. Kudos to them for what must have been a difficult shift. They managed to make us feel welcome and comfortable despite the limited time they had to give us. Food came out quickly, though the bar was a little slow. All in all we had a great experience here.

Wood and tile in the manner of a standard pub. Decent menu that goes beyond pub fare. Went for brunch and had the huevos. There is a lovely backyard patio for summer but still too cold to hang out there. The tap list is a mix of bigger European brands and craft beer. A wide selection of liquor. The prices are inline with the area with a little fustiness.

Great restaurant right next to Danforth Music Hall! Food is excellent, service quick and polite despite being very busy. Will definitely come here for dinner and drinks again!

Had the dinner special last night, the steak was amazing ,service impeccable but I only gave a 4 because the restaurant as a whole has a faint underlying smell of something, smelt it as soon as I walked in. I imagine the staff are quite used to the smell but for someone like my self who has an acute nose odors its all I could smell.

Its a neighborhood institution and the back patio is fabulous. In the past weve found the service to be indifferent but on our latest visit our server was excellent. But the food: an ambitious menu but the pizza, although the toppings were good, was surely on a frozen crust and the burger was meh. Great ambience and beer selection but honestly the food, for the price, was so-so.

I love the atmosphere of this place, sort of like a pub in the UK that serves fantastic food! We have not had a bad meal here yet and have eaten here quite a few times. The burger is top notch and the fish and chips are excellent. The wines by glass list is a little small, but the wines I have had have been excellent , the draught beer list is extensive and represents several wonderful Ontario craft breweries. You also cannot beat the patio, its beautiful. I should mention also that the servers at Allens are also fantastic!

Best wine, best steak and best chicken meal...I love this place . Would not try beef stew though, being an Asian not used to that sweet of any stew

Great experience. Food is great and service is excellent.

Met with family from out of town and ate on the outdoor terrace. Perfect weather and good attentive service. I had 2 appetizers, calamari and salmon with potatoe cakes. The calamari was ok but uninspired, the salmon was good but the potatoe cakes needed something besides plain sour cream to give them a boost. Next time Ill try the burger, which looked very good. The Guinness chocolate chip cake was a little dry but the rich Guinness flavoured icing saved it.

Service is good and the the beers I would recommend their patio is great!

This place use to have amazing servers, my experience this time was ruined by the lack of service, professionalism and appears to be a complete lack of training. Servers need to be trained better. Not knowing what people ordered and waiting 30 minutes for a bill.

Excellent dinner and wonderful service. Only downside was the noise. We sat at a very small table for 5 and could barely hear each other. And no we do not have hearing problems. However it was very busy and I would go again Food

It was certainly a restaurant!

Nice on the back patio, good food, nice and fresh tasting, a little pricey. Service was okay, but a little slow, esp for a Sat afternoon. Would eat there again. Parking: Depending on the time of day, parking can be hard to find. Be prepared to pay (Green P Street parking) $2/hour.

The taste of my burger didn t match the high price of it

We specifically went down to Allen s for Father s Day and had a lousy experience. Weird because our visit before was wonderful. Many servers walking by and ignoring our table. Finally we saw staff arguing about who was responsible for our table. Server finally came over to take our order. She was ok but much friendlier to the other tables she was serving. Made us feel quite unwelcome and we left and got coffee and dessert elsewhere. Took over 40 minutes before we got our food. Won t be going back!!! It s a shame because the patio is pretty.

Place was awesome as always. Nolan was our server and was great.

The reviews for this place are all good, so maybe I just got unlucky, but our group had a pretty poor experience. I got fish which was bland and about 8 chips... Which is crazy considering Im paying $25+ for this. Definitely felt shorted. Service was not great, but again, maybe she was just having a bad day. Weird experience.

Vegetarian options: Veggie curry was delicious! Food

Third time here. Nice, vintage feel spot with vatied options. Good selection of drinks and beers, we got some sparkling wine and one of their IPAs. The food is great, got a couple of salads (baby arugula and chickpeas), a salmon burguer, and their grilled scallops, all was tasty. Service was really good, we sat at the patio this time and the atmosphere is also good there under that super old tree. Will definitely come back!

Love this place!

A popular local pub with excellent pub grub, as well vast beer, wine and whiskey options. Their curries, fish and chips, and burgers are big hits with us. Awesome patio ( does not take reservations). The only downside is their indoor space is extremely loud. Not because of music, but because there is something about the acoustics in there which really amplifies the sound. Weve found busy times unbearable and tend to visit off hours.

Excellent patio, ordered the burger and was disappointed. Boring overcooked Patty served on a store bought bun. Little bit of dressings on the side. For that price, I expected something I couldnt do at home.

Went for brunch, the food was quite good (we had the Eggs Benedict and Huevos Rancheros), service was great and the back yard patio was perfection, an oasis.

If you re looking for a great place to dine and enjoy a fantastic patio, I highly recommend Allen s on the Danforth in Toronto. The food is delicious, and the service is outstanding. Not my favorite experience, the service is super nice but thr food is not great. I ordered fish and chips which were bad. The dish is overpriced for a single piece of fish with some fries, the fish was literally burned and I had to return it. They did exchange it but the second dish the fish was ok and the fries were super bad. So eventually the whole experience was not great, I understand things happen but they ruined the second half of the dish on the second try. I wasnt going to wait for a third attempt

Nice place with a lot of variety on the menu, an extensive drink menu and a nice patio too and friendly and professional staff..Also a good place for weekend brunch.

Only complaint about this place is how early it closes. :)

Pretty good place, unfortunately the back patio is under a massive tree and branches and leaves were falling into the food and on me. Not sure what they can do about that, but it is a bit annoying. If I sat inside, like I did last time, the review would be 5 stars. Id recommend sitting on the side away from the tree, where most people were seated.

Everything was tasty. Very nice shaded patio. Were able to accommodate a big group at two tables. Very good staff.

Went out for a treat with my neighbour. Tried a light meal, BBQ Chicken with combo of 3 Salads, and they had Wild Boar. Chicken looked unappealing with BBQ sauce on a chicken breast. Sink was soft, and sauce was put on when done. My salads came with my neighbours on a plate. I tasted it and it was not very good. I thought it had come with salsa and suggested it would prove the meal. $2 charge for salsa which now made this a $38 meal. Not really a treat, I make better salads. Neighbours wild boar came with a tasty sauce but it was kind of raw in some places. I would stick with the burger in the future.

They know their drinks and their meat. Ask about the animal/farm. As a proper English style pub, they make a decent curry to boot!

Great backyard patio but the menu is super dated the food was absurdly bland. Did not care to go beyond the appetizers, perhaps we should have since the main course seemed to be very popular but the starters threw me off a bit. I might not be inclined to visit again unless somebody really recommends an item that I absolutely have to try.

Was there with a large group. They have one of the most romantic patios in Greektown. The lamb shank was great, the soup was delicious! Definitely recommend it for a friends night out.

We went for my mothers birthday, and could not have had a better experience. If I could rate them any higher I would. Ive been to a lot of restaurants in Toronto and this one is just a cut above. The service was excellent, food and beverages were very timely and the taste of the food was so good I found myself doing little happy dances. The patio is stunning, and even the coffee was perfect. I took a look at the 1 and 2 star reviews and theyre a year old or older. Allens is clearly listening and learning. The restaurant we went to is a well oiled machine.

Food is amazing, keeps us coming back! Unfortunately, the last two times we ve gone the service on the back patio has diminished the overall experience. They seem short staffed, making for servers not being able to dedicate time to their tables. I counted and our server had 10 tables at once! As a server myself in the past, I know this is too many. Especially considering the prices customers are paying to spend their time here. I believe our table would have spent $50 more (at least) on drinks had our server noticed our empty glasses. I might add, this was not our servers fault but rather a fault of the restaurant owners/managers themselves. We could tell our server was hustling, he was just ultimately being overworked. Sad that after visiting for the last three years, we most likely will not return (despite how amazing the food is)

Love Allens. The food and service are always incredible and the back patio is beautiful. This time had the huevos rancheros for brunch. Beef chili, guac, chips and over easy eggs. They also have great burgers, wings and curries. You wont be disappointed coming here!

I can t believe I m posting a negative review for Allen s, usually one of the best pubs in Toronto. I was there on Thanksgiving Monday for the Thanksgiving dinner. Everything needed seasoning. The appetizer soup was cold and bland, the turkey was dry, the stuffing was tasteless, the mashed potatoes were tasteless as well and lumpy, and the crust on the dessert was inedible. The host even mentioned how bad the crust was when he cleared our plates. Therefore, why was this even served. I don t know what happened to the quality in Allen s, but this was completely unexpected, especially given the cost. Mind you, I have had some of the best butter chicken I ve tasted here, with layers of flavour. I have also experienced very mediocre butter chicken a week later. Maybe the issue lies with who happens to be working in the kitchen when you visit. I am so disappointed, and my husband said that he doesn t even want to return again. I don t believe our horrible experience should eliminate Allen s yet. I still remember one of the best birthday dinners (the veal chop) I ve had here when I was also introduced by our waiter to one of the best local wines I ve had, leading to years of membership with that winery. We also have a concert coming up at Danforth Music Hall and I was looking forward to a burger before the show. We may now end up down the street at Sher-E-Punjab.

Great pub atmosphere, excellent, prompt service even when busy. While eating our meal we saw plenty of new arrivals referred to by name - always a great sign. The beer (Hendersons) was extremely fresh. Wings were delicious, large and meaty. 8 pieces made for an easy split as an app. Blue cheese dip had massive chunks of cheese. Had Halibut and chips for our mains. Halibut was on point - tender and moist. Chips were an excellent cut and perfectly browned on the outside, but could have been crispier on the inside. Would certainly consider dining in again.

The OG. Great food, martinis, beer list. Love to come in for a few snacks and a drink. Polenta fries are fantastic

Service was friendly and prompt, liver was done to perfection. Potato salad was huge and a bit over-seasoned. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and will definitely return. Quality food at reasonable prices, a rare find these days.

Great restaurant, nostalgically reminiscent of a Dublin Pub from earlier in the last century. Reasonable prices, given the high quality service, food and atmosphere. The young staff were personable and genuine. We had Lamb, Fish and Chips and Chicken Pot Pie, and we were all pleased. It can be busy, so I highly recommend reserving a spot.

A gem. Looking from outside you can not imagine how busy is this restaurant. I was shocked once I opened the door and saw all the stools occupied, many table with entire family. We could notice that it is a very traditional restaurant in Danforth. The service, food and atmosphere everything was amazing.

My first time at Allens was a smashing success. The food was great. My party of 8 had a little bit of everything from the menu (brunch and lunch). I ordered the chicken and waffles. The juicy was incredibly juicy and crunchy and the waffles and maple syrup provided a nice contrast to the savoury flavour. The staff were extremely attentive and kind in fulfilling requests that were not on the menu.

My 6 year old sons review: I love the burger its so juicy and the fries are so good. I recommend going to this place but its a bit expensive.

Allen s pub in Toronto offers a decent dining experience with a varied menu. While the food is generally satisfying, theres room for improvement in terms of flavor consistency and service efficiency. The atmosphere is pleasant, but it falls short of creating a truly memorable dining outing.

Allens accommodated a reservation for 12 same day on a Saturday and wowed the group with excellent service and fantastic food and drinks!

Unfortunately lost a lot of its charm.
