184 Augusta Ave, Toronto, ON M5T 2L6, Canada
Lively lounge with a patio overlooking the market specializing in drinks & Portuguese appetizers.
Delicious Portuguese food! The owner served us all night and was wonderful, super attentive and kind. He felt bad because a couple of other tables were noisy (not their fault at all) and was very kind to pour us a delicious glass of wine as a sort of make up gift. Highly recommend!
We stopped for lunch here while visiting downtown Toronto. It's a cute little restaurant with very good service. It was a hot day and we were happy to sit in air-conditioned comfort. Our waiter Francisco was very friendly and helpful. We ordered a couple of plates of Chorizo for appetizers. That was really tasty. The grilled sea bass, sardines and the fettuccine were delicious. My sister-in-law and I ordered the eggs & cod. Very generous portion, but the dish was a bit bland. But overall we enjoyed our meal.
Really good food and service. Decent prices as well. Will not be disappointed at this spot.
Awesome little gem in Toronto! Great customer service and awesome food! Our server was super friendly and took good care of us. Food was served quick and tasted delicious. We had caldo verde (collard greens soup) and pork cutlet sandwiches. Great prices for the quality of food!
Loved this place! Went with my son to have a little taste of Portugal. The owner was friendly and happily shared information about the food when we asked for suggestions based on our taste. Definitely coming back for more next time we visit Toronto.
Food was satisfying, simple and delicious. Absolutely busy with locals on a Sunday afternoon in Kensington Market. We sat under the canopy to protect ourselves from rain. Enjoyable and affordable pitchers of beer along with the most dense Portuguese chocolate mousse for dessert. Truly incredible. Service was quick but delivery a little slow due to the number of tables occupied. Overall very good and friendly experience. I would recommend.
A quaint little Portuguese restaurant in Kensington Market with a nice patio to sit in and people watch while enjoying a delicious meal. The service was excellent and the food even more so! I recommend the BBQ Chicken.
The best Portuguese food in the city. The service is the best! They treat you like you are family here. Get the cod cakes they are fresh made to order. So light and fluffy on the outside with the most subtle crisp outside. The shrimp, was delectable spicy and I used all the bread to sop up the sauce. We had “The Revolution” which is a seafood platter 10/10 all of the fish was fresh and tasty! We also had the surf and turf, the steak was cooked perfectly and so was the giant shrimp! Highly recommend this place!
Drinks and service were good, but the patio smelled like sour milk
Quite the disappointment. This establishment came highly recommended by close friends, and based on other reviews, I decided to give it a try. I ordered their much-praised BBQ chicken and the grilled Fresquito shrimp. First, the BBQ chicken was a disaster: - It was undercooked, especially the thighs, and looked nothing like the photos in the other reviews. Instead of a golden, grilled appearance, it seemed and tasted as if it had been boiled and then lightly fried. - The chicken itself was utterly bland, missing even basic seasoning like salt and pepper. There were no discernible BBQ flavors from the chicken or the sauce, which was devoid of boldness. A well-balanced BBQ sauce should be a combination of sweet, tangy, and savory; this lacked all three. - The fries accompanying the dish were another disappointment. The hallmark of a quality kitchen is attention to detail, even in the simplest sides. These fries were clearly frozen, uniform, and uninspired, a far cry from the thick, hand-cut fries you d expect in an establishment of this caliber. If this is a recent change, which appears to be from the other reviews, it s certainly a downgrade. For the price Amadeus charges, and the standard it claims to uphold, I found the quality and taste to be lacking. The Fresquito shrimp dish included four large shrimp, a small portion of rice, a few sautéed greens, and a side of their same BBQ sauce. The presentation was simple, and the portion size felt modest for the $40 price. Even with quality seafood, the price should reflect more creativity and substance. While the shrimp were well-cooked, the dish didn t offer enough to justify the cost. All in all, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend this place.
I wanted to try something a bit different for a meal, and thought that Amadeus looked worth exploring. It turned out to be a good choice! There is a good range of dishes to choose from, and I started with a chilled gazpacho which packed quite a punch - very flavoursome, and the ideal starter for a hot day! This was followed by grilled sardines, with an accompaniment of potatoes and peppers, all well presented and a worthy follow up to the gazpacho. The mojito mocktail was a fitting end to the meal, being light and refreshing. Service was efficient, and provided by a very pleasant waitress who genuinely appreciated how much I liked the meal. Even if you think Portuguese cuisine isnt your thing ... Well, maybe Amadeus will change your mind.
What a delight to find Amadeus. I m a Portuguese Canadian and I so miss my bitoque (Portuguese steak and egg in a pimenta sauce) when I m back in Canada. Amadeus is the first place I ve found on this side of the Atlantic that does this dish right - took me right back to the islands and the continent. My husband loved his grilled sardines and my sister and nephew declared the bifanas a success. The pasteis de bachalau (codfish croquettes) were fresh and hot hot hot! Excellent conversation and service with the gentleman who took care of us. Thanks for helping me practice my Portuguese!
I thought I was back in Lisbon except the service was better great waiter and top notch food just make sure you get the tall thin Portuguese waiter he s the best
My daughters and I went in while visiting kensington market. The food was excellent the service was excellent.
Great service. Great atmosphere. Great food. Fair pricing. Will be back. Authentic traditional Portuguese. Patio was great
My husband and I had a delightful and relaxing Friday dinner here. After asking for a wine list, we were guided to a lovely red bottle to pair with grilled sardines and pork Alentejana. The food was delicious and the service warm and attentive. Probably one of my top 10 dining experiences!
the seafood platter is a delight! the terrace is very comfortable for a convivial moment. The atmosphere is calm and the service very professional
Very good food! We tested the grilled sardines and found the same quality as in Portugal. Very good wines served by the glass. Careful service. Pleasant and shaded terrace. Located in a bustling area of Toronto. I recommend without hesitation! Visit: September 2023
It was nice - a bit expensive, but nice to go every once in a while.
Amazing!!! Highly recommend!
Decent food and atmosphere
Please dont subtract one star although I am biased in this review. I just love the place and the owners. Ill try to be as impartial as possible. I really enjoy the food there. Its great Portuguese fare just like mama used to make. If you stumble across the late Steven Daveys review on Now Magazine please be warned that he wrote one review back in the 90s and then he rehashed it every year, word for word. Are things a bit too salty? Perhaps, for a non portuguese palate, I can accept that. I like to think that Amadeus is a cafe/restaurant with many faces. You have the dining room area where you can feel very comfortable bringing a date or a business partner. You have the summer time patio which is a great place to just kill a few hours with a few beers. Its at a great corner of Augusta and Denison Square, overlooking the park. And then you have the more blue collar bar area where you can expect loud Portuguese guys watching soccer. Ive been going there close to 20 years.
Very good place, the atmosphere of the venue is incredible, the service is excellent, but the food possibly lacks a little more seasoning. Affordable prices.
Visited this past weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the piri piri chicken and salmon dishes. Would definitely come again!
Feels like a little piece of Portugal! The place is spotless clean and the service excellent. This was my first time trying Portuguese seafood and the server told me a bit about how to enjoy the traditional dish and everyone took their time to make sure I enjoyed. A great place to unwind in buzzing Kensington Market, would definitely recommend it!
Good burgers and Czech beer! Very nice waiter!
Stopped for a quick bite after work and had the chicken dinner, very flavourful and crazy juicy sat on the patio/deck and a great place for a drink and something to eat and especially people watch facing Augusta service was a bit slower than I like but I suffered through it. Parking: Take public transit or an Uber
Went last night with my family and had a wonderful evening. The service was amazing and the food was sensational. Definitely worth the drive from Burlington.
Always good to come back for amazing Portuguese food and Servs
This place is THE BEST spot for steak and cocktails. The steak was so juicy and tender, not to mention the best sauce ever with the steak making it the most flavourful steak ever. The owner was super friendly and made sure that we were having a great time and suggested the best shrimp ever. Hundred percent coming back.
It is an amazing opportunity to have a taste of Portuguese Cuisine. Right in the of Toronto.
With its cool summertime vibes, this is the best patio in the Market to savor seafood. My favorite dish is the sardines, which pair perfectly with a cold pint of Stella Artois for a perfect day.
Love it here, the drinks are cheap, food is good, and view from the patio is great for people watching on a sunny day. Will be back often!!
We had a great time here. Charcuterie board was fantastic, the hot sauce with it was really good! Francisco was a great server for us. Very cozy restaurant to have a calm, tasty meal.
1st time visit for me, my dining colleague had been many years ago. We shared the cod fish cakes, which were absolutely delicious. We shared Amadeus Revolution for One, which came with a half crab, half lobster, muscles, class, prawns, fried calamari, rice, carrots, broccoli and a house sauce. Absolutely perfect. We finished with a cheese platter, and it was all washed down with a delightful medium bodied house red. Loved the service, the food, and the recommendations. Will be back to try the whole seabass, sardines, burgers, and steak ... might need a few visits!
You might come all across town and it be closed. Thats what happened to us. Went on google and double checked the opening times on google listing. No website or phone number to confirm. Arrived and its close FOR TWO WEEKS. Update your listening for goodness sake. Nao e bom
Cozy restaurant. Enjoyed the cod fish cake dumplings and the grilled shrimp, which were fresh and flavorful. The service was friendly and attentive, and the prices were reasonable. Patio was nice
A hidden gem! It has what a restaurant needs to have, good food, good service and reasonable prices. All of those posh restaurants they should learn from them
Toronto s hidden gem! I honestly enjoyed all of the dishes, most especially the codfish cakes. So soft and tender that it almost felt like it melted in my mouth. I also tried the sardines and it was deliciously served with different veggies. Lastly, I tried the Pork Alentejana which was so filling. Definitely worth visiting!
Very good food and wonderful fantastic employees
Amazing food, great service
We had the pan-fried prawns, shrimp bisque, portuguese style steak, grilled cod, sanghria, caipirinhia and decaf coffee to wash it all down. The steak was the best Ive had since mid-2020, when a restaurant in St. Louis briefly opened after the initial covid closures and had 70+ day dry-aged steak. Lucky discovery on our first night in Toronto. Couldnt have been a better fit for what we were looking for tonight. Service was splendid, best of our trip thus far. Thank you.
Beyond friendly staff and super cool Portuguese customers make this a super friendly spot to go to. Did not get the food but it all looked tasty! Beers and conversation with the regulars make this a must go!!
Specializing in Portuguese cuisine. The food is ALWAYS sooo good! Choose your ambiance; enter to the left, you are in the sports bar. On the right is an elegant lounge. In the summertime, you can sit on the massive patio, right in the heart of Kensington Market.
First time here. I loved this place. The food was amazing. Glad a family member showed me this place. Cant wait to go back for more.
Horrible experience. I have egg allergies and I asked if the fish has eggs inside the stomach because that will give me a reaction too, and they said no. And I eat some and find eggs in the fish. I got an allergic reaction and told them there are eggs in it. I understand these things happen, but they should have been aware. Also I told them I can t pay for this and they said of course not. And they asked me if they can make anything instead of this food. I said no I am fine but they kept offering me and told me they don t want me to go home hungry and I didn t have to pay. So I genuinely appreciated them trying to fix the situation despite what happened, and they made me another dish to take home. And guess what they tried to charge me for the food. I was so shocked. They did not care about me not able to eat eggs or me having a bad experience. Just the money. I was very very disappointed and it absolutely ruined my day!!!!!!!
The best restaurant ever, I really like the food, also the staff is so kindly. I really recommend this palace for everyone.
They have the best Portuguese cuisine, mainly the famous bolinho de bacalhau, it is my favourite dish. I really appreciate my experience in this restaurant. I recommend it.
They have the best Portuguese cuisine, especially the famous Bolinho de Bacalhau . The service was excellent from start to finish, they are helpful and concerned about good service. I recommend!
Excellent service with both lounge and fine dining experience. Food was great, fast and the staff were friendly and treated you like family. We had 1/2 red sangria, well balanced and cold, calamaris and Portuguese style shrimps; main course with more seafood - grilled sardines and shrimps with sides. Chocolate mousse for dessert. Everything was perfect! It was a great Sunday afternoon dining experience. Thank you
Excellent service and spectacular food, will be back again
Pretty average food and service was slow for half empty room. Not impress.
If I could give this place 6 stars I would. Best food. Best service. Best atmosphere I can think of anywhere. Servers are friendly and attentive. Food is extremely high quality at a very reasonable price. Have been a long time customer and will be back for many years to come.
Their hot chocolate is heavenly! Prices are on the hefty side, but worth it.
I have been to Amadeus many times. One of the best restaurants for seafood and Portuguese cuisine. I have never been disappointed.
I have experienced a very good service here, very promt ,efficient. The waiter are very attentive, always offer second round of drinks, dirty plateware or glassware almost immediately picked up.I have been there 3 times and each time the service was promt and the food great
Good food, cozy portugese atmosphere, nice person running the place, they can advise good food or can tweak menu per your ask. Go for it !
The service was impeccable, the atmosphere warm & inviting. In answer to your question, as much as I enjoyed my meal of grilled cod - very generous portion & perfectly cooked vegetables - it was very salty. It certainly wont prevent me from returning & am merely responding to the question asked.
A staple in the Kensington community as well as the Portuguese community for many many years. The cuisine and service does not disappoint. Has the grilled sea bass and it was delicious!
Great food atmosphere service. Nice covered patio
Adequate, neither too expensive nor too cheap. A little old-fashioned atmosphere, but good service from the waiters. Portions a little small for the price.
Food was great, service was great
Nice atmosphere, very attentive and bilingual staff! The Portuguese-style cod and sardines were amazing! The green broth was delicious! And everything at a fair price!!! We will definitely be back on our next visit to Toronto!!!
Good traditional food and drink and a great spot to sit and watch the market!
Enjoyed
We were in for a bite during a walk through Toronto on a Saturday. We were a larger group of 3 outdoor tables. The service was confused and slow, our table was missed. The chicken sandwich was good but the accompanying fries were cold. Overall the service was friendly, but waiting too long took some of the shine off.
This was the best meal I have had in 2023! The food was authentic Portuguese and was seasoned to perfection. The service was also amazing. I would highly recommend.
Rosa was our server; she s great Patio Atmosphere is nice. Food is good. Food : 4/5
Best service in Toronto! Generous Quantity of Seafood!
Authentic atmosphere in the park near the terrace. Elaborate food and friendly staff
Unsure, the waiter showed us the plate of the day which convinced us to take it. Beautiful terrace with a welcome light wind. Prices are good. A good place for dinner.
So good make sure you give them a taste
Everything y all serve is always so very delicious!!! Blessings/Abundance
Food was terrible. Service was okay
The food was awful. I ve had better airplane food.
Party of 4. Our first time here. The calamari was frozen, out of a bag and fried. The pork sandwich was a hard pass. The meat had a processed look and feel. Flat and rubbery. Frozen vegetables on the plates. When we sent the calamari back and the server recommended we take their grilled calamari plate instead, we agreed. But we were charged for that plate and not what we originally ordered. Piri chicken plate was nice. Collard green soups was not seasoned well - bland. Guzpaco soup was delish. Our server was a sweetheart though. Do better with that menu, please.
above and beyond with the food and service, perfect place to relax and dine outside in the evening after walking around all day!
Portuguese steak was very plain. No flavour. The fish and seafood are good
The patio is a great spot to sit and watch the many people and colourful aspects of Kensington Market, although the street can be fairly noisy with street performers. Your average food and prices are offered and the staff are present but not always attentive. Perfect spot for mid-afternoon cocktails to relax and watch the world go by.
Lovely place for dinner. Food is delish! Nice wraparound deck, great live scenery and vibe. There s no traditional Portuguese restaurants in Wpg so this is always a nice treat.
Nice restaurant. Food was tasty enough and the service was good. I wasnt wowed by the food or value or anything but I wasnt disappointed and you shouldnt be either. I got the salted codfish and about a quarter of the fish (in the pictures) was bone and spine. Id suggest maybe provide a larger portion of fish to account for the hefty amounts of bone. The salmon was tasty and afterward, I felt like I shouldve just ordered that so I couldve had a whole dish to myself. I ate a piece of my friends salmon. Pretty good so Id suggest that over the cod fish. Cod fish just isnt worth it considering you have the salmon there to order and they both are comparable in taste and price. You just get more food with the salmon because there isnt a large bone through the fish. Service was good as well. No complaints there. Kudos. Cocktails were just ok. We got a margarita and a caprihina. Both made with bar lime and not lime juice so a bit sugary and not a cocktail made with care so just fine.
Great spot for fresh and great tasting food - love the sangria!
I recommend
Everything is a perfect Portuguese style restaurant. Especially the employees are very friendly. I recommend it
Worst customer service. My friend and I waited 15 mins before anyone brought us menus. The menu said house wine only so we asked if we could try the red. The server brought us a glass of white, so we said no, we d like to try the red please. Next thing we know we had the passive aggressive manager/ owner asking us if we want to order the white or red. He seemed very rude, and made us feel completely unwelcome! Skip this place. Go to the Italian place next door!
Absolutely horrible experience. We went on a Saturday afternoon and sat inside. The place was full of flies. We ordered grilled cod fish and vegetables, and it was so rotten smelling, tasted so bad that we were about to throw up. Then to top it off a large fly dropped right into our plate and died on top of the fish. It was such a bad experience. The food tasted horrible, zero quality. And the server was rude on top of that. Not worth $60. So disappointed. It s hard to mess up grilled vegetables and fish but this place managed to do that very well.
Excellent food and service. The cod is incredible, it really has a Portuguese flavor those who serve are excellent and friendly! Clean space. Worth all the money
Every time I go there it doesnt disappoint, amazing food and staff!
Great service and excellent meals!!
Great food and exceptional service, with a very pleasant atmosphere!!! Great experience
Beautiful place with a very good atmosphere! Excellent food as well as service.
Food 5***** excellent service very attentive very pleasant atmosphere I recommend you come and have this beautiful experience of these incredible Portuguese flavors
Best Portuguese restaurant in the city!!!! Every time I try to eat somewhere else I m beyond disappointed because it never compares to Amadeus. Food and staff is 10/10
Fantastic spot for Portuguese food. Service was fantastic and friendly, highly recommend this place!!
Great Service and Superb Food!!!
It was Monday. A cold Monday, frigid. We were desperate. We were walking, distraught. Me and my baby. We didnt know what to do. We kept going into restaurants and backing out .. slowly. It didnt feel right. Until we walked into Amadeus. We felt right at home, as though we were Portuguese ourselves. The server, a handsome man, charming, respectful, knowledgable, came to us with a wry smile and knowing wink in his steps, with a care for our every moment, as a professional. He asked, well what do you desire? Well, well, well. The world. And we got it. What did we have? We had the best. Cod, shrimp soup to die for, wonderful bread we didnt even know about, cod cakes from heaven, the freshest vegetables as though plucked from the garden mere seconds prior. It was a memory that we took pictures of and will last forever. The decor transported us to Europe for like zero travel expense. The music? Classy and relevant. The water? Probably filtered! The cost? Way lower than expected. I thought I was going to get a $400 bill. Turns out it was less than a hundred. An absolute steal. I feel guilty. I didnt deserve this. Give this server a raise.
The food is horrible. The taste of the chicken with the meat is worst plate ever.
Loved the service Friendly staff I had 43 ppl for a Xmas party and it was amazing. I would definitely come back Food : 5/5
We were there with a large group for a Christmas party. The service was excellent-the staff was very friendly and attentive and the food was delicious! We will be back.
We had a very large party (almost fifty) and the staff was still so kind and helpful! The food was incredible and the service was outstanding. A reasonable price for the food that we got. We really appreciate everything and had an unforgettable night!
amazing place would come back anytime Pleasant owner and waiter Kid-friendliness: kid friendly, family style restaurant Wheelchair accessibility: accessibility
The ambiance and service at this place are incredibly welcoming. Ive visited twice, and it holds numerous cherished memories for me. I particularly valued their accommodation of my dietary requests during my latest visit. I highly recommend it!
Traditionally contemporary...oustanding service and perfect food.
I love Portuguese steak amazing
Authentic Portuguese atmosphere, amazing service and excellent kitchen. Ask for recommendations and the server will give you best tips of the day, but will let you enjoy without interruptions. Trust the house wines and especially the house white port (to complete your desert... You must try the Rice pudding... Delicate and rich).
Yeah 10/10 recommend, amazing service, patient, authentic, real friendly people
Love theirs steak, especially the Amadeus Staek
They over-served my mother the last time I went there with my family, even after I asked the server several times to stop serving her alcohol. She ended up in the hospital overnight, one of the most difficult experiences I have lived through. It is clear that their staff is not properly smart-serve certified.
The food was bad. The service and cocktails were decent.
The atmosphere of this place is cozy. The staff are great and friendly. The food is delicious. It is all served to order. Everything is made fresh. This is not a fast food place...be prepared to wait a little for freshly made food. Would definitely recommend.
Amazing food and service. The staff is friendly and inviting.
Amadeu s is one of the top fine dining Portuguese restaurants in Toronto. I highly recommend the food and friendly staff. Not only have I dined there, I have also had my 3 kids baptisms with approximately 30 guests on different dates (2014, 2016, 2018) and not one guest had anything negative to say, everybody really loved the restaurant hospitality & great food. I ve also attended the restaurant for Christmas events with expectational entrees, main courses with a lot of selection, seafood platters, desserts and finally the great Portuguese wines. I m looking forward to going back ASAP thank you to the owners and staff.
We had such a good time at this restaurant. The staff were so friendly and it has such a relaxing vibe. The food was amazing and they really know your cocktails! Overall it was a great experience and I can t wait to go back! Definitely recommend for a casual night out or for a fancy date!
We went there with my boyfriend to celebrate my bday and had a lovely experience. Food tasted great and came fast. Their shrimp was absolutely delicious! Their patio area is nice and heated, its placed in a corner of Kensington Market, so we didnt have problem with noise; or pedestrians coming too close We ended the night with dessert and a coffee
Delicious experience. The staff is friendly funny and knowledgeable.
10/10
Food was good! Place was very clean! Service was awesome! Location and atmosphere was exactly what we wanted!
Drinks are a little watered down but service was great & food was 6.5/10.
This is one of my all time favourite restaurants! The food is amazing, service is incredible and the people are so accommodating and friendly. I wouldn t hesitate to go back again and again.
Red sangria , i don t like to taste apple while drinking
Great place to have a beer and food at Kensington market
Awesome Portuguese food! Nice and relaxing atmosphere.
Highly recommended site. Very good food with Portuguese and Mediterranean origins, a rarity in Toronto. Very attentive and helpful staff. Very nice terrace.
Great service, Great price, Great portion, Great seafood. Ordered Grill Squid. Delicious! Vegetables are perfectly cooked. Patio seats made me feel like we are on vacation!
A mediocre Portuguese restaurant in the heart of the iconic Kensington Market, seems to have passed its prime. I was very disappointed that the dining room was not open and unable to leisurely dine in European style. The patio and bar area is large and very busy. The grilled cod was way overly cooked, very dry with lots of bones. But served with generous amount of Portuguese olive oil, reasonably priced, friendly and helpful staff.
Food quality not the greatest.
Love the vibes at this cozy yet elegant family restaurant. Where to start... Portuguese food as it should be! Delicious portions, homemade hot sauce, and the seafood selection was amazing! Cocktails were summery and delicious, the sangria being one of my favorites! Came here when there was live music and the band was looking as good as they sounded. Dinner was the best! Staff and service were attentive and patient and made me feel at home. The patio heaters are always a plus.
Absolutely delicious authentic Portuguese food. Highly recommended. They are short staffed due to Covid; but offered GREAT service and food regardless. Carla was a stellar waitress.
Visited on Sunday August 7th for a late lunch and was very satisfied with the Absolutely great service, very friendly staff, great food. Highly recommend.
Currently on a restricted diet but the staff helped accommodate and the food was phenomenal!
The staff is very very nice! Edit: My friend and I came from Macau and we had a great time enjoying the authentic Portuguese cuisine over here. Our favourite was the codfish cake (Bacalhau), served with their house special sauce. They also make sure that your food comes to your plate hot!
Very good experience Nice place
Authentic food from portugal. Really tasty and good. Very friedly staff
Very pleasant restaurant and great location and patio. I love Portugese food and theirs does not disappoint. Fish dishes are really good.
This was one of the few places that was open on a Monday in Kensington Market, so my coworkers and I decided to give it a try. The restaurant has lots of indoor and outdoor (covered) seating. We ordered the portuguese burger and the fish. The overwhelming favourite was the burger.
Kid-friendliness: What more can I say?
Excellent food and superb service. Nice patio deck for dining.
We just celebrated my daughters baptism here. The service was impeccable. Francisco was wonderful, he was a joy to be around and so so helpful with everything. Thank you to Rui as well for booking us in. We will definitely come back again
I loved this place before Amadeus passed away
Excellent food, ambience and service. The waitresses and owner are amazing people. Food is top notch Portuguese. High quality and delicious. Friends and I had a great time.
Portuguese food at its finest...
Excellent Portuguese food. Favorites are the sardines, snapper, and the seafood rice dish for two. The service is excellent as well. Been twice with a large group and wouldnt hesitate to go back. Enjoy!
Wonderful food!! Pleasant atmosphere and perfect service. I will definitely return to Amadeus!!!
Just an overall amazing restaurant. The staff is so sweet and they have always taken care of my family when I bring them in for special occassions. Food is great, and Ive gone there so often they already know my order. I highly recommend this place and getting to know the staff and learning where they came from. Theres quite a bit of history at this place.
Great place with an equally great patio in the Market. This place has been here for decades and has stood the test of time. It has great portuguese food and you can even order a bowl of Lupini beans, with Portugues home made Pepper sauce, to munch on with your beer or wine while you wait for your food. They have excellent seafood and Cod fish. It is also a great place to go on a summers night and have drinks with friends, share stories and people watch.
Some really good food and a great patio. Portuguese Steak was delicious and the Grilled Chicken had great portions
Where else can you find sardines and white sangria in Toronto??
Great food and amazing service! Francisco was our server. He was so kind and helpful
This is a fun place to be, very central in Kensington with a good exposure to the live music around! Great people-watching spot for casual drinks and food. The Croquettes were surprisingly better than I thought!
Tried this restaurant last year and the food was amazing. Theres a surprising dip in quality but its most likely due to the pandemic.
Fantastic Portuguese restaurant in the heart of Kensington Market. Patio has lots of room and can be fully covered, in case of rain. The service and food is always great.
Good Portuguese restaurant with old-world charm and a great patio overlooking the park in Kensington Market. Nice selection of beers (try the Sagres or the Super Bock, both imported portuguese beers).
Just had the most amazing Gazpacho here. Highly recommended!
The most lovely and incredible staff, I went there with my co workers for a team evening, there were 12 of us, and they made sure we had enough space as well as ended up placing us in an amazing spot! The food is incredibly delicious and you can tell that it was made with lots of love! The bar service was amazing! Of your looking for good eats and good drinks, you cant go wrong here!! This is the spot!
Wonderful place
Great hangout
Wonderful place with great service and authentic Portuguese cuisine. Perfect for relaxation, live music and people watching. Consistent time and time again and the Natas do Ceu is to die for!
We really enjoyed the authentic Portuguese cuisine here, very fresh. I tried Ronaldos favourite food.. bacalhau a braz.. yum! The shrimp is so flavourful, a must try. Will be back for sure!
The food is really bad.
If you like fish you will love this place. Also reasonable. Sit out on the patio in the middle of Kensington Market - great atmosphere. So much fun.
Service is amazing and food is delicious
My hubby and I stopped here simply for a beer but ended up having the shrimp appetizer and fresh buns! It was fantastic! The service was awesome and friendly. Would definitely return and try other things on the menu!
Delicious and authentic (according to my Portuguese partner)! Service was friendly and the patio is gorgeous. Steak was cooked to perfection and ingredients were clearly good quality.
Good place and food, but needs to diversify vegetables
A hidden gem. Located in a not so fancy part of downtown (Kensington Market), but the food and service was excellent. Great patio next to the park, perfect for people watching.
Great little gem of Kensington Market. Heated patio, awesome food and great service!
Friendly staff. Amazing food. Great atmosphere! Ill be back.
This is my #1 pick of Portuguese restaurant in Toronto! I always have great time dining here whether with family or friends. Food is great and service is excellent!
Celebrated a birthday here, great choice!
Good
We vacationed to Toronto back in January and this place was a wonderful highlight of our trip. Ive been meaning to leave a review because it is criminally underrated and deserves all the attention it can get. The food is delicious and wonderfully affordable. If youre vising Kensington market theres plenty of great food around and Amadeus is certainly a contender for one of the top spots.
Always nice to sit at Amadeus friendly staff and nice patio
Chicken was super dry even though they claim its grilled to order. Penne primavera was not worth the price. Will definitely never return here. Server did comp half the meal though
Amadeus is a wonderful Portuguese restaurant with an expansive patio. The menu includes traditional dishes, such as the cod fish pictured here. Although not on the menu, they even had vinho verde by the glass. The patio wraps around the restaurant. One side has a full cover, giving constant shade. The other has umbrellas for light shade and is more in the sun. Service was a bit slow, as there was only one waiter to deal with everyone. But we werent in a hurry.
Amazing staff.
I had the seafood rice dish, very filling and spicy. Enjoyed the patio sitting in front of a busy walking street.
Nice place and service at good location.
Had a nice vegetarian soup.
New recipes on main features. Fabulous.
The food garbage, it s not even eatable, taste like frozen food, 1 star for Place is nice, drinks are good, costomer service is nice too but DO NOT ORDER FOOD!
Our waitress was fantastic food was good too. But the service was so friendly and fun. Thank you!
Covid friendly for the most part. Good food.
Delicious. Went here for my college graduation and didnt disappoint. Food is amazing, staff make you feel like youre inside their home. Highly recommend.
We are disappointed by the food quality. The fries are not fresh and the burger doesnt taste much better than MacDonald burgers..The veges are not fresh and there were barely any. Im not sure whether the food quality has significantly decreased because they are trying to cut costs on the ingredients. My friend described the steak she ordered as terrible. We wanted to share the feedback with the staff but they didnt have a good attitude receiving it or wanted to improve.
Good service, great food, the best fried codfish ever, and Im Portuguese, so I know what Im talking about!!!
