Amsterdam Barrel House in Toronto

Food was great. Loved the 3 beer fish and chips. Our server was not on top of her game. She did not inform us that the kitchen closes at 9:30 pm and then after we asked to get the bill so that we could leave they made an exception to feed us.

We were there for lunch and it was not too busy. The waitress took our drink order which seemed to take some time to get to us. The blonde beer was excellent. The food was good and tasty. The waitress came to get our dessert order and left without clearing the table. We had to ask to have the table cleared.

Average food, but could be nice for a drink in the area given the lack of other choices.

Great spot for a bite and a few brews. The food was wonderful, as was the service. Our beers were great as well. Only 4 of 5 stars because the washroom entrance doors did not have the buttons to open the doors. There are accessible stalls, though. Came in last night, Chelsea was super on top of things, helped me modify some stuff and everything came out perfect and super quick, would come back again!

Had the fish tacos and they were amazing! Our server, Chelsea, was also very friendly and made it a great lunch dining experience!

Update! Been 4 years since the last visit. Its still a great place. Food was delivered quickly, lots of it. Bf had fish and chips, and I had a burger. Beer cold and very clean inside. Keep up the great work. Gave a 5 star for this visit! Great atmosphere and friendly service. As a beer drinker the on tap selection is impressive. I ate an Oktoberfest featured meal with was incredibly good. Chicken was infused with beer I could taste. The draft beer is nice and cold.

I had dinner with a few friends on the patio last week. Food and service was fine, mice were not. Never have I been at a restaurant where mice ran under nearby tables to grab a crumb of food. We left quickly.

Great food great beer. The food is paired very well with the food and our server Kat was very helpful and attentive. Ordered a chicken sandwich and it s honestly one of the best I ve had in the city.

Bit of a gloomy day but Kat nailed it. She knew everything in the menu and was doing a 10/10 job. Would come back easily considering how great the staff is.

Kat was an amazing server, the best I have had in a long time! The food was outstanding, the fish, the chips, the Calamari and even the penne special was very good. I love that they were able to incorporate beer into the recipes. Not to mention, the 3 Speed pint is a must paring with almost anything you order! All round, a fantastic dining experience!

I recently dined in and had a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, and the ambiance was just perfect. What truly made the evening special was our server, Aliyah. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. Her recommendations were spot on, and she went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. The service and helpful suggestions from our server were the saving grace on our last visit to Amsterdam Barrel House. The food was so so and the cocktails quite good. We d been to this restaurant several times pre pandemic but not particularly impressed with the fare. Our hopes for a better experience were dashed again this time. Settled for the brew house burger and fries and the Cajun chicken fajitas. Oddly enough the green salad wasn t bad. Other items were pretty tasteless. All in all, meh. 3.5 out of 5

One of my neighborhood favourites! Was there yesterday for wine and appetizers. Tabi was our server she is amazing! So friendly! She recommended the adventure series beer Rauchbier. If you like an amber this one is definitely worth a try.

This restaurant is great and convenient for anyone living in the middle of the city and has great pub food with a modern pub feel. The service is consistently good every time I go and so is the food. I highly recommend the fish tacos which are delicious and the smokehouse burger as well. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant anyone looking for a nicer pub.

I was in yesterday for drinks and a bite. Everything was excellent, including the service. Kat was our server and she was very attentive and made us laugh! I will be back again.

The restaurant was very lovely in terms of space and decor. The service was amazing but the food lacked flavour and the calamari batter was not cooked thoroughly. I got the brisket sandwich and all you tasted was the barbecue sauce. We also got the beer flights and the beer was alright but not the greatest.

Lemon chicken schnitzel was amazing!!

Whenever I visit Toronto from out of town, we always make sure to stop here! The atmosphere is lively, and the food and drinks are great. We always hope to see Kats smiling face when stop-by!

We attended a party upstairs in the restaurant and cannot speak highly enough about what a great time was had by everyone. In particular- wanted to give a shout out to Tabitha, Heather and Samantha for their wonderful attentive service!

All was well except the burger. Its not made on the premises, is pre-formed from frozen. It was tough to chew through. Cutting it apart, you can see the formations and binders. Please procure from another source or make them yourselves. Otherwise, the beer, the atmosphere and our server, Meagan (sp?), were great.

A mouse emerged from the kitchen in the restaurant. I showed it to the waitress, and her response shocked me: Yes, management is aware of that! So disappointing! Not even a quick apology! I have a terrible feeling about the food I consumed.

We went on date night here on a whim cause of the brick exterior. This is where we messed up. Walking in, the atmosphere is beautiful, whoever was the interior decorator on this restaurant REALLY outdid themselves. I want my living room to look like it. Moving on, we were greeted warmly and taken to seats - right next to the washroom. Mr. asked to be moved two tables down, the furthest away possible without moving sections. The server was kind and doting. No complaints. Okay now on to the horrid stuff. I went with the server s recommendation - which was called Bonecusher Brisket and Mac and Cheese. Now. I was craving some Mac and cheese and I really wanted it to hit the spot. The interior is beautiful, wouldn t the food match it? It was proven it was not. We waited a while for our food - about 20 mins. -the server even looked over at us and did the oh snap, I forgot about them face. It s okay, happens to the best of us. When it came out, it came out on the SMALLEST cast iron they could find. It looked okay, like baked Mac and cheese. It was not. I dug into it and it was immediately creamy and yellow and all the things Mac and cheese should be! Then I tasted it. It was hot, creamy, tangy cheese and undercooked noodles put into one. I was immediately grossed out. Then I went for the brisket. I should have never gotten this meal. I went for the brisket and it fell apart beautifully. It was surprising. Then I tasted it. It was the BLANDEST brisket I ve ever tasted. They MUST have just soaked it in some water and cooked it. But not any water, the MOST tasteless water you can find anywhere. Then, I kept eating. Mr.was talking and it is rude to interrupt when someone is speaking. My God. I should ve interrupted him. As I kept eating I m getting hit with the fact that THIS HAS NO SEASONING. NOT EVEN A LITTLE SALT. so I naturally grab the salt and pepper but THAT WAS TASTELESS. SHOCKED. I resorted to using the provided ketchup and mustard to eat the brisket and that was horrible. It didn t help at all. I was crying while eating at this point. This was a disgrace to my record of choosing the better meal on dates with Mr. AND it was a disgrace to my body. I devoured the entire meal for 2 reasons. 1. We don t waste food at restaurants because it just gets thrown out at the end of the day. 2. This was the BIGGEST lesson to not just eat anyone s Mac and cheese and brisket. I ordered salt and pepper chicken wings to cry into when I got home only to discover there were only 6 wings. For $22.60 that s a huge rip off. I will never go here ever again and I hope you don t either. Not unless you don t like seasoning in your food, which then, well sweetie, you ll fit right in.

We went there for a 65th Birthday Party a few days ago. Our server Samantha was amazing.!! She went out of her way to get pictures of the whole group and made the party a great Event! We will definitely come back especially to be served by her!! Cheers

Adam at the Laird location is honestly phenomenal. He is, genuinely, the reason I would return in a heartbeat. The raspberry lemon beverage and red sangria were both very good, but my main was just okay (brisket was good; the sides left much to be desired). My spouse loved what he ordered (schnitzel and some beers). You must come here :)

We had my husbands 60th birthday, our 20th anniversary and goodbye party for us, as we are leaving Canada soon, last month at Amsterdam Barrel House Leaside. We were extremely happy to work with our darling event manager lovely Trisha Rendon, who is extremely professional, knows what she is doing very well. She was always prompt on replying to emails and all my notes were very well taken. We were more than 50 people at the night and everybody was very happy with the good quality of service, food and drinks. I want to thank our manager on the night lovely Eren Nunez, our bartender Abby and servers Tabi and Tamlynn for their extremely good service. Once again I am so happy to have chosen Amsterdam Barrel House at Leaside for this very important night for our family... We had so much fun! Highly recommended! Thank you so much to all the team... Ordered mac & cheese entree which says it includes meat on the menu, a very tiny side dish came with no meat included. After complaining to the waiter they didnt change or resolve anything. The menu doesnt even include an option without meat. Price charged was a couple bucks less than the entree, huge rip off for a tiny side portion with missing ingredients. Beers were also poured short.

Nice service and ambiance. We ordered the chicken wings with apple butter sauce, brisket burger, and the pasta special (spicy sausage with penne). Overall, the food tasted good. The chicken wings werent worth it for its price. Its $17 for only 7 wings. They gave a lot of brisket for the burger which was great. The brisket can use a bit more sauce since it was a bit dry. The pasta was unremarkable.

Stopped by for the first time to have a pint and wings to kill some time and was very impressed. Service was super friendly and fast. I sat at the bar and was well taken care of. Had a pint of Cruiser which was tasting super fresh and hoppy. The atmosphere was great and the staff seemed chill and very efficient at their jobs. A busy Friday night with the place packed but everything was running fast, smooth and friendly.

Was in there last night and was met with a bartender that Im guessing was having a bad nite. We all have them, but she wasnt very pleasant. Customer service wasnt very good. Just not a friendly encounter. It was 8:10pm when I walked in and the 1st thing I was greeted with when sitting at the bar was Last call is 9pm cause we close at 10. Can I get you a beer? I asked about the rotatating taps and was given a very vague description. A friend met up with me and got the same reaction. There was zero conversation with her, and we had to ask for new beers. She handed us a menu, but didnt even ask if we wanted food. All in all not a good experience. Ive been in before and its been great. Not to sure Ill be back.

I was there over the weekend for one of the first few days of Winterlicious. We had a great experience, food was also really good. Our server was Katherine and even though she was very busy, all the food came out in a timely manner and she provided great service. We will be back.

I attended a birthday party at the Amsterdam Barrelhouse. Everyone had a great time. The place has cool decor, cool enough that an architect friend in attendance commented on the style. The dinner was tapas style, so we could try a little of everything. I have had regular meals at the restaurant on other days, but for a large group tapas were perfect. Everyone said the food was delicious. Including the dessert. The bartender was our host, and he was friendly and accommodating. He created great mocktails. Kudos to the team. I hope that readers will try for themselves. Vegetarian options: Delicious vegetarian option. Parking: Extensive parking Kid-friendliness: Kids menu is great. Servers pay particular attention to the children s requests. The bartender made great mocktails.

Wing and fish taco appetizers were well done. We ordered one of each of the burgers.. the fries were undercooked and the meat to bread ratio on the burgers was terrible and the meat was lukewarm at best. A lot of room for improvement on execution from the kitchen.

UPDATE * The food was great! Great atmosphere and ambiance. The food was a 5/5, unfortunately, the service was a 2/5. I did not enjoy the cold and aggressive server. I felt like if I said something wrong, he would give me attitude, in fact, he already did. I don t know if I would go back, simply because of the service. I spoke with the manager, Eren, who was a pleasure to chat with. We discussed some coachable opportunities, and I felt reassured that my next visit would be handled with more care. I appreciate the additional steps taken to ensure that my experience was not ruined, and that my next visit would be taken care of. That is definitely going above and beyond! - Update - returned once more and had such a pleasant experience! Everyone was so kind and on the ball! Great place for delicious food and great service! I was here the other day for my work party. The food was amazing! And the service from the bartenders and waitresses were great. I wish there were more chairs to sit on though. Overall I had good time here.

After 2 negative reviews in the past, the owner requested that I give the establishment another shot. We did this and had another bad experience with the taste of the food. The salad was amazing, tasted great and was of large quantity, but we also ordered the spaghetti and meatballs. We shared the meatballs and all agreed on the quality - very poor. They were hard and extremely salty. Sorry owner, I have been your client since you opened, making dozens of visits. Your food used to be amazing, but something has happened in the past 3-4 years.... 1.5-stars on my last 3 visit. Can I recommend that you increase QA on your food prior to table delivery. Based on my experience, you could stop serving food and just focus on your beer... sorry.

Went for Sunday morning brunch. It was pretty quiet when we first arrived but started to get busy around 11:30am. I had the banana bread French toast which was a large portion as the banana bread is dense and they provide 2 slices. The tater tots are really tasty!

If I could give 0 stars I would. I contacted ABH early March about booking the 2nd floor room and I received a reply March 6th from Trisha Rendon saying that the room was available and to let her know if youd like for me to put the date/ time on hold for you as we iron out the details and I replied the same day telling her I would very much appreciate it if you could put the date/ time on hold and asked how much the deposit was. I did not hear anything back so I sent another email March 8th saying we very much want to book ABH. I called the restaurant a few days later and left a message for Trisha with the hostess and was also given her number. I called and left a voicemail and did not hear anything back. Trisha sent me a reply March 29th, TWENTY FOUR DAYS later saying at the time, we are fully booked but if you are flexible on the event date we would love the opportunity to work with you. DO NOT EVER BOOK WITH THEM. Completely Unprofessional. Trisha does not know how to reply to emails or voicemails and the complete lack of self awareness on her end is appalling.

Came for lunch with our granddaughter. Beautiful decor & fireplace. The steak was one of the best Ive ever eaten. Smashed potatoes are beyond delicious! Staff was attentive & thorough even though it was very busy at lunchtime. Love the ambiance. Kid-friendliness: Chairs are super comfortable

Dinner at Barrel House is always an amazing idea. As usual the food was delicious (Do try the fish and chips!!) and our server Nishi was very nice. She was attentive and fun!! She went above and beyond to make sure we had a good time. Will definitely visit again.

I ve been to this restaurant many times. I like the atmosphere. It s nice and clean with friendly staff. They have a great selection of beer. Overall the food is good, but can be better.. I have noticed that if there is a feedback to the server about the food, they try to justify. For example I ordered the southwest chicken pizza once and it was extremely spicy and when I told the server about it, he chuckled and said that he knows and they have recently made the pizza very spicy, however there was no indication on the menu about how spicy it was, for me it was almost not edible as I felt my whole mouth was burning. Another time I ordered chicken wings and asked for it to be well done and I still felt that the inside wasn t fully cooked. I told the server and she said that most people say the same thing but she assured me that it was cooked. I feel that in situations like this most places give the option of sending the food back and ordering something else. You don t get that option here and you get fully charged for it too. But I still like this place a lot and will go back.

We have ordered takeout numerous times from Amsterdam, and only once has there been an issue. They rectified it immediately and provided extra as well. As long as we are close, we will be loyal customers. Recommended dishes

My family and I when to go celebrate my five year old birthday here, the staff was friendly but we had the worse experience with the food. For my son I order the fish and Fries. It Was a disappointment the fish was stale and the fries whwre extremely cold. I thought my sons was just joking so I tried it right away. And he was 100% right the fish was cold stale and so were the fries. He didn t eat any of it. He was crying because he was hungry and excited for his food. My partner order a pound of wings. The wings were super raw to the point where I had a blood coming out, The street corn was ok. And for myself, I order the chicken bowl. If you like old rice that s been put away in the fridge and brought our cold by all mean order this dish. The worst mistake I have made was dine in this place. As soon as we got in our Uber we instantly felt sick to our gut. We puke so much my hubby were very disappointed and I overall this has to be the worse experience we have had. I m right now heading to the hospital I have serve chronic pain in my gut from the food. Was a disaster

The food was just okay, not what you pay for. No pitchers or Nachos on the menu, even though they have their brewery/outlet close to this location. We spent roughly $360 overall with friends but server charged us 18% tip ($64) that was un-called and not professional. The server for our table was older and I felt she was not in a good mood. Overall I would not recommend this location. Dietary restrictions: I didnt see any healthy dietary food on the menu

We used to come here all the time, but the last few times have been disappointing! The atmosphere and the beer are very good, but the food is really mediocre! Feels like it s precooked and warmed up in a microwave! Overpriced for the quality. Just a follow up on my review that after the review the manager responded here and provided his email address, I emailed him and never heard back.

Enjoyed a beautiful afternoon on the patio with the wiafu. We shared the Buffalo cauliflower, which were amazing. I had the tuna tataki, done perfectly and my wife has the caeser salad w/ chicken. Her salad was a little dry but nothing a little extra dressing couldnt remedy... But then we saw hair... No amount of dressing could fix that! The server apologized and got a new salad prepared for take away. Overall we were impressed with the quality, quality, and presentation of the food.

Great food and service.

This was my all time favourite place to get a burger. They had a delicious burger with a brioche bun, real cheese, garlic aioli, and all the toppings you could ask for. All the options on the menu seemed quite gourmet. I went back recently to find the burgers have been changed to generic ingredients, Kraft single cheese etc. we also had the buffalo cauliflower and it wasn t spicy or warm (temperature wise), so that was a pass for us! The atmosphere is always great, staff are fantastic, but the food quality seems to have changed. So sad! I will still visit again, but I m going to have to try and find a new favourite meal there.

Quality has really take a dive. Went here tonight to celebrate a birthday and was very disappointed. It is obvious that a change in management (or priorities) has influenced the menu and dining experience. My Mac and cheese was brought to the table and the pasta was cold in the centre. Mac and cheese how do you serve cold Mac and cheese! It was served on a skillet which further added to my confusion, aren t they usually hot? 2 of us ordered the brisket sandwich that used to be amazing the bun was stale and crumbled when eaten. Another ordered a chicken dish with a stale unmixed sauce and when mentioned to the server the manager came by to chat. She was condescending and admitted the sauce wasn t blended. No offer to replace the dish or apologize, said essentially this is how it is, you re wrong . She had enjoyed this dish before which is why she selected it this restaurant specifically for her bday dinner. Nothing replaced, even the cold Mac and cheese that I barely ate good luck Amsterdam Brew house, hire new management and a new chef !

We arrived late, and was informed that our dessert may be packed up. Everything came out very fast! Im not a big fan of cauliflower, but fell in love with the Buffalo cauliflower! We split a Tofu Pad Thai from the Summerlicious menu, and the mushroom sandwich. The amount of food was a lot, and it all tasted great. The service was very kind.

My fiancée and I were astounded with the service we received from the Barrel House. We typically go to the Brew House because the lake view cannot be beaten, however, we happened to be walking past and decided to go in. We were greeted with respect and great customer service from the hostesses to the server. The whole experience was one that will have us fighting for which Amsterdam to go to the next time we visit Toronto, lol! Great food, great beer, highly recommend visiting if you havent been before :)

So, my mom fell at 73 years young, on her way to the Amsterdam restaurant. She was not seriously hurt. She did get a couple of bruises and some scrapes. She was able to walk to the restaurant though the line was a bit long. I kindly asked the staff if she could wait inside while I waited in line. The staff brought her in and from that point they took care of her like a hospital. They sat her in a chair and brought her water, clothes and wet wipes. I came to check on her and they said they had a table available for us. From that point, we sat down, Amsterdam helped out with some appetizers which was so kind. This is one of the best services I have ever received. Thank you again Amsterdam. You made our holiday that much more enjoyable!

We were there for my husbands birthday. The lemon chicken schnitzel is amazing. And our waitress I believe her name was Lauren was fabulous. Really good service and excellent food

Since my last review 2 years ago the menu has suffered a major decline, no more specials and a very restricted standard offering. Steak and frits has gone, the schnitzel no longer comes with potatoes only spetzels ? The menu has shrunk, nothing on the menu that really appeals. I suppose theyre reducing costs but Im afraid unless they invest in the menu its just going down hill. Such a shame, still the best patio in town. Oh and by the way $20 for 9oz wine! only $10 at the Keg

Best patio in the city. Great indoor space, especially in the winter with the fire going. Beer is excellent, the new 25oz mug a great idea. Food has become very disappointing. The menu has shrunk, steak and the pressed chicken are gone and specials have dusappeared. There is only one attractive main now, the brisket dinner, so we dont come as often. The menu needs expanding and weekly specials reintroduced if you expect to attract regular repeat customers.

Ordered the fried chicken sandwich which came with a side of fries. I found that the food was way too salty. The fried chicken was likely salt brined, and then followed up with a deep fry and finally additional salt on top. Too much for my liking to the point that I couldnt finish the salty fries... which doesnt happen often. The atmosphere and service was good though.

Probably the most chill upscale experience youll ever get. I absolutely recommend you take the time to enjoy the experience. Everyone is super personable and kind. Food : 5/5

Smokehouse burger was frakin delicious love the fire pit. Being on the patio was perfect.

We had dinner here last night and overall disappointed . In the last 2 years we had been here at least 6 times and once it was a family event and took over the patio on the second floor. My wife also had a few of her company events here as well and it was very impressive. The food just was not the same tonight. The wings one of my wife s favourite tasted like it was bought at a grocery store (pre breaded, not fresh fried wings) My cheese burger was half the size, there was no char on it at all. One of the worst tasting I ve had. For this quality of food it were over charged. When we mentioned about the wings to the waitress she just said - oh I m new, not aware how it was before but will mention it to the manager - that was it. After that she was aloof the rest of the night. I don t know what s changed but this certainly was not the quality of food nor service we ve received here before. Will not be my go-to place for casual dining. Too bad. I didn t even feel like taking any pics.

Food is decent. Theres little things.. Like if you have the best ever guacamole, put it (or include it) with the tacos. Also maybe have a side salad as an option so I could add a small salad to my order when I dont want an entree sized salad.

Regarding the food, the Caesar salad was poor, the chicken wasnt grilled as promised, and it had a raw taste, and the drinks were too sweet. However, the lemon chicken and briskets were the highlights.

We dined in for a Thanksgiving lunch after taking a group of 11 (6 parents and 5 kids) to Skyzone down the street. Although our orders were not taken perfectly, they were taken somewhat without issue considering we had a large group (kids cheese burger arrived without cheese, and drinks were omitted and had to be reorder - minor stuff - negligible stuff). This is the only positive thing we had to say. Things soured quickly for us however. Two of the parents in our group ordered the Quinoa bowls and both were in excruciating pain and had severe stomach cramps, diarrhea and threw up within 1 hour. It was an absolute disaster. Both were bedridden for the remainder of the day, we had to cancel our joint plans and go our separate ways, 4 kids were utterly devastated because they were excited to hang out. No thanks to give today - Sorry! What made it worse is that there were 4 toddlers and infants without their mothers due to this, and literally all our plans were ruined for the remainder of the day. We called the restaurant to inform them of this incident and it was shrugged off because they were too busy to get back to us due to their dinner rush. It wasn t until after this incident that we checked their other reviews, and noticed quite a few incidents of food poisoning and badly undercooked food.

Good food and service but you need to take out a mortgage to buy a Caesar salad and we bought two. Ridiculous price. To clarify 2 Caesar salads with chicken and one coffee . Bill came to $66.00 with tip.

Visited today for the first time for lunch with a friend. Atmosphere is nice design-wise. That was quickly over-shadowed with the sour, long faces of most of the staff. I couldn t help but notice our server was luke-warm in her demeanour, but especially who appeared to be a manager shoving chairs back to their tables with annoyed and lazy gestures, like being there was the last place she wanted to be. My friend ordered pizza, and I ordered fish tacos. I could not bite into them because the tortilla was so hard and rubbery. The only time bread or pita gets like that is when it s put into a microwave. We told the server and she took them back, but seemed a little put out. So my friend shared his food with me in the meantime. She brought out the new tacos and the shell was great. I was halfway into the first one when I pulled out a long, light coloured strand of hair out of my mouth, which was so tangled in the mouthful that it pulled the food out as well. I had to spit into a napkin. I did not eat the dish and we paid, just wanting to leave at that point. The server saw I didn t eat the dish and simply cleared it. The best part of my lunch was the pineapple juice. Very disappointed and overall one star, because at the end of the day it comes down to food and customer service. We won t be returning.

If I could rate the service more than five, I would. I went over after work with my coworker and our server Brittany did a fantastic job. We were in the mood for a good beer and she recommended space invaders & we loved them! She made sure to check in on us, and was always friendly. I ve been in customer service for over 15 years and this was the best service I ve ever received in any establishment. We were given great food recommendations I was particularly a fan of the buffalo cauliflower! It was phenomenal. Will be coming back & recommending this place to everyone :) Vegetarian options: I try my best to eat less meat & they had a few but they all sounded like great options.

Absolutely loved the Boneshaker Mac briskets a true culinary delight. The Smokehouse Burger was also impressive, and the diverse beer options added to the overall experience. The fusion of flavors and ambiance made for an unforgettable dining adventure

My first visit to this establishment, overall positive experience, 1) our server Catherine was fantastic, cheerful and very attentive, 2)our first order, fish tacos were amazing. 3) the ceasar salad, was fresh, crispy and very tasty. 4) the brisket was probably one of the best Ive tasted including my visit to Nashville. 5) now the not so positive, the other dish was fish and chips, the batter was soggy and not at all appetizing, the fish was tasteless and unseasoned, not happy with it at all hopefully they can change this,

Great spot! We hosted a Fire services district Christmas party there and Trisha and her team put on a great event for us. We had the bar area for cocktails and then the dining room set for our group for dinner. The staff was excellent and the food was delicious. We will be back again next year!

Not sure about anyone else but my family and I dined last night around 7pm and I m experiencing symptoms of food poisoning. I ordered brisket dinner w beans and coleslaw. Coleslaw tasted a little funky. I asked my partner to try it without telling her something was off and she said it tasted a little off. Brisket wasn t as tender as I d hoped. Beans were alright. But I think the coleslaw might be the culprit. My partner ordered Mac and cheese w brisket and even her Mac and cheese tasted stale and more oily than expected. My 8yo son ordered pizza and looked pretty undercooked. He said it even tasted a little cold. After taking our first bites, we were surprised when a manager came out of nowhere and asked us how the food was. My partner mentioned about the Mac and cheese because she was really not happy about it. The manager was nice enough to let us order something else. She chose the cheeseburger and even the patty had a funny taste. Nothing seemed to be right in our table and just decided to finish what we could and never come back.

We arrived at the restaurant early for our reservation. We informed the hostess we were willing to wait but a few minutes later she seated us. We were given glasses of ice water right away and that was the last interaction we had with any staff person. We left after at least 35 minutes. It was as if we were invisible. This was not our first visit to the restaurant and previous visits were excellent which is why we opted to dine there tonight. We are horribly disappointed by our experience.

Might i suggest that wait staff wear PPE while serving given that they connect multiple times at mAny tables? Lots of deep-fried options on the menu, and a very very very well done burger. Have you changed your chef?? Not a great experience and there is a lot of competition in the area.

Delicious gastropub with good vibes, great staff, nice patio and awesome food and drink

The waitress, waiter, supervisor and manager treated us like children. They constantly had to tell us to sit in our places or else the bill will be put under one big bill. If the staff doesnt have a procedure on how to bill separately because people choose to socialize, then they should take the customers names. Other establishments can do it or have better trained staff that have good memory. They knew how to ruin a partys fun. But the staff was more than happy to take our money at the end. I also had to laugh when the waitress said their place was fine dining. I guess she doesnt get out much. The company I worked for had many parties at the Laird location. In fact, there were 2 parties on the same day last week. Itll only take the people at my party to get the word around to choose another venue for the next company event.

We were hugely disappointed in our evening at Amsterdam Barrel House. The hostess was unpleasant. The server was inattentive and inexperienced. It took quite awhile for water, and drinks, and. Finished dishes just sat on the table. The appetizer I ordered to come with my dinner came in time to be my dessert. The food was also mediocre. My burger had things I d asked not to have, scraped off. But at least it was hot unlike my partner s burger that was cold. It s a wonderful space, but I ll not be back.

My girlfriend and I live close by and have dined here many times over the last few years. Weve tried lots of different dishes across the menu and have never been disappointed. Service is always prompt and friendly, ice water always comes immediately, and the quality of the food is definitely above average both in presentation and portion sizing. Beer is plentiful as youd expect for a brew house, but seems somehow fresher since this location is nearby the actual Amsterdam brewery (maybe Im just convincing myself its fresher) and surprisingly the cocktails arent half bad either. The restaurant itself is visually quite spectacular and has lots of variety both inside and out on the patio, with cozy touches like fireplaces and water features. All in all this is likely one of the best gastropubs in the area and well worth a visit if youre looking for a solid meal at a decent price.

I was at the Amsterdam Barrel house for a wedding party last Wednesday and everything was amazing! We had Cyrisse and Damien looking after our group of 35 for the evening. Food and drinks were amazing but also the service! Both were really friendly and personable. Cant wait to come back! We had fish and chips, mac and cheese balls, mini burgers and an epic charcuterie!

Great brewery restaurant experience. If you are looking for gastro-pub/restaurant for a large group - this could be a place for you. Obviously great local Toronto beer. Place is very spacious. Tends to be easier to get reservations. The food is elevated as well. Usually very friendly service. This Father s Day got a 3 Speed box as a gift.

We had our first date here July 10th 2020 and this past weekend June 25th 2022 they catered our wedding!!! From the first visit to our grand event, the food, care and service of everyone involved from servers to the general manager Matt Peacock was nothing short of superb! Every visit to the restaurant is enjoyable, but them coming to our house to cater the wedding was a breeze! From the initial meetings, to the ongoing communication and final execution everything was handled professionally and with the utmost care! 10/10, 100% would recommend to everyone planning a catered event, or looking for a great place to have a meal!! Amsterdam Barrel House is number 1 - change my mind!

Food was good, I think our server was overwhelmed with a large group of 10. Had to prompt for items such as refill of waters...one person didnt get their food until it was pointed out as the whole table had their food delivered the same time. Wasnt informed about additional cost to switch from fries to a salad. Friend ask for a straw- never got it. Since it was a group had to pay the 18% tip tho some people didnt feel that they got good service....

Came here on a Saturday, the patio was more busy, so we stayed inside. The worst part was we were not greeted by any servers after being seated by our hostess. We were the only table inside. We waited and than after some time decided this was ridiculous and left. On our way out we notice four staff members just standing around talking and laughing. Edit: Went to check if email that was sent two months ago was ever followed up By General Manager Matt, and he had nothing to say. No response.

Fair. Pleasant and friendly service. Seated promptly in the bar area. I ordered the Friday fish & chips special. The generous portion of fish arrived covered in limp, soggy greasy batter, indicating the oil was not hot enought to fry it properly, accompanied by equally soft, warm fries. The server did ask how the meals were mid-way into dinner, but as the host, I did not want to send my food back while they prepared a new meal for me and put my guests meal under a heat lamp, and had us wait another 20 minutes. They say on their menu they have The second best fish and chips in Leaside, but Olde Yorke Fish and Chips across the street wins hands down!

I was looking forward to meeting friends for the first time in ages (because of Covid), but the evening could have been better. The patio of the Amsterdam Brew House is nice and the staff was friendly. But overall there are more thumbs down than ups. The worst part of the evening was a party on the upper level. I was told that there was a reservation for 40 people, but more than 80 showed up. For much of the evening people were screaming out the windows like lunatics. This went on for a long while. Eventually someone at a table near me had had enough and went upstairs and he was able to get the mob to shut up. That s really the responsibility of the manager and the staff, but they did absolutely nothing. Other points were lost because of the food. I ordered a chicken dish that was unbelievably bland and boring. Imagine a chicken breast boiled in water for a few minutes, thrown on a plate and then covered in grated cabbage. Not good. Also, if you go on the Amsterdam s official webpage there a special section for Safety Protocols. A dozen different points are listed in terms of how the Amsterdam is making diners feel safe (even if Covid is on the downswing). The Amsterdam really needs to update this page (or remove it) because I don t think it was following a single one of its twelve points. Finally, the Amsterdam has a real mouse problem. They were running around all over the place outside (including on the seats). I ve never seen that at a restaurant. So a real let down, especially in terms of the screaming customers and the boring food.

The restaurant has great décor and ambiance. Very good service and tasty food. Our four people ordered Pretzel and fried calamari for appetizer; green salad, beef and chicken, and dessert. Lots of free parking.

Worst customer service!

Two awful experiences at this location. Wont go back! Eren, Since I cannot add a reply to your response, I edited my review to explain the actual scenario so readers know the real story. The food was awful when we visited the restaurant a few weeks ago. The staff started cleaning the restaurant, turning the chairs around our table at 9:00 pm, and getting ready to close the restaurant. We felt we were being kicked out and left (While we were going, we asked you why you were closing this early when your official opening hours on Google is 10:00 pm, and the entrance door sign says open till late ? You responded that since there are no customers, we are closing early. When we called the day after to give our feedback, the person on the phone asked us to provide you with a second chance and said we would get $125 credit for the five main dishes we had. She wrote down the name, service date and the credited amount. When we returned last Friday, you mentioned that the first time was a misunderstanding and we were in a rush, which is not true. When we got our bill, the server said the manager did not put a round of drinks plus a 25% discount as a favour (it was NOT 50%). We asked for the original $125 credit as we did not return for a favour or demand a discount. We came back o give another opportunity which seems was a wrong decision. You, as the manager, started arguing with us. You responded that there was a misunderstanding (again), and the person on the phone was the supervisor and had no authority to authorize that credit. My review is not about the money, discount or disagreement. It is customer service and costumers appreciation which are non-existence at this location. Good luck.

Came here with my mom and had a really great host. Not sure of her name but she was tall and blonde. She made our experience great.

I am a vegetarian and so is my wife. We are repeat customers. The atmosphere is good in the patio and inside looks alright but too cold for our liking. The staff has always been pretty good. The lady that served us was great and even brought in a mix for the yellow jackets (wasps) to dine and get entertained, away from us... soo cool! Ok, the food is good but I would make the Portobello burger a little bigger. The salad was good too with plenty of goodies in it. Our friends, non-vegetarians, also enjoyed their meals, snacks and cocktails. They have been here before as well. The beer is good. I recommend you try the bone shaker. It has a hops taste and it is higher in alcohol level. There are all sorts of nice cocktails for those pursuing that class. Yes, I would recommend you try the Patio in the warmer months and enjoy something to your taste. I believe there is at least another vegetarian choice in the menu. Cheers and be well. Very beautiful and friendly place, the day I went was the places birthday, so there was a party with a free beer and free food until the bar closed time. In addition, there was live music in a very lively country music style. Its definitely worth a visit to see it.

The manager was super accommodating and addressed an issue we had. The food was so tasty and the waitress was so lovely!
